We came here with four other couples and 4 babies, and could not have been more impressed with the quality of food and service we received. For one, the lovely ladies put us into their private function room so the babies could roam, but despite us being tucked away we had continuous service for the 4 hours we were there (including, as a result, probably more drink rounds than anticipated!). The staff were so sweet with the babies and were really friendly and patient with us splitting the bill. I would happily come here every week - what an amazing team! Also, their chicken wings are to die for!

Absolute gem of a local community pub -- my partner and I have been in a few times now, and have had such a good experience every time. The food is so good, you can tell the team in the kitchen have taken the time and effort to think through what they are serving. The Sunday roasts are exceptional and definitely the best in the area -- the roast belly of pork has perfect crackling, the potatoes crispy on the outside and not cremated for once, by FAR the best Yorkshires ever served in a pub (no Aunt Bessie's or re-heated cardboard here), the gravy has terrific depth, the greens are actually green, and that braised red cabbage brings it all together beautifully. Hell, even the apple sauce looks home made. Beyond that though, it's the staff that makes the place - every single one of them is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel welcome and right at home.

Hands down remains, consistently the best Sunday lunch I have had in London!! No contests. They changed the veg roast from best to better! My partner loved this change. My beef was well cooked and good quality meat! All the accompaniments were well cooked and seasoned and it was downright tasty all round. It was a shame to see customers leave without getting a table, could possibly use more staff to speed things up. Would very much like to see the pubs flourish as it is well run with excellent staff.

We just had our sons first birthday party in the function room. Erin and her team were amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious and they thought of everything possible. The Goldsmiths is one of the most family-friendly pubs in South East London. There’s an amazing supervised kids table (book ahead) with crafts and crayons galore. The food is great - we had a fabulous Sunday roast with floor-to-ceiling Yorkshire puddings. It’s also a great spot for a quiet weeknight pint; the warm and welcoming team have struck the right balance between a traditional pub and modern gastro grub. There’s also a strong community focus and an unpretentious charm - not too shabby and not too chic!

Went for Sunday lunch under new management after 2 years. Already knew the food and staff were awesome but under new management, it’s even better. The FREE kids table was a welcome surprise and very well managed. They loved the arts and craft. We had to drag the kids away from it to eat. The kids table gave the adults time to relax knowing they are in safe hands. It’s clearly professionally managed and the staff looking after the kids kept them entertained. I hope they don’t get rid of it. We will most certainly be going back. Was such a perfect afternoon. Keep up the good work guys 👊🏽

I love this pub. The building has a lovely run down charm about it inside and out, the staff are very accommodating and the beer is well kept. With a huge garden out the back there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy their visit safely whilst we’re still not allowed inside the pub. The food has improved since I have been visiting and I wouldn’t hesitate to come for a light bite or informal dinner it’s just good food, well prepared and not overpriced like so many other pubs in London. A few of the negative reviews on here are due to very specific personal tastes, so if you don’t have sky high standards and just want a friendly pub to visit with your mates then you can’t go far wrong with the Goldsmiths Arms.

Recommended for late bookings and walk in. Sunday lunch was phenomenal. We got 3 of the 4 roasts including the veggie wellington. Kids meals were quite big as well. Deserts were scrumptious. Neck oil and Lagonitas on tap is great as well. Worth every penny.

I have finally found a genuine child friendly pub. It has great food and friendly staff. I go to the Golden Tots on a Wednesday which is a very friendly and welcoming environment, my son Jack loves it. The kids table on a Sunday is also great, I am not sure why other pubs haven’t done the same. It means a lot of customers with children can stay longer which is surely better for business especially in recent times.

Really pleased to see this pub reopen. They have a new management team with new ideas but who also know that great food and drink served by friendly staff are the most important things to get right. We all loved the free “kids’ room”, which provides free childcare for kids 3 and over in the function room from 12:30 to 4:30 on Sundays so parents can relax whilst kids have fun. Our 5 year old and our 9 year old both had a great time and our 9 year old asked me to give the pub 10,000 stars in this review!

Local Gem. Was recommended by a friend. The garden in the back is such an oasis away from the high street. It's so quiet and would never know where you were. Staff are always welcoming and very on hand with drinks. Our go to pub now!

This is the best pub for miles around. The jeer garden is big and lovely so is a popular pub when you have to drink outdoors. The beer selection is great but could do with a few more non-alcoholic options. The food is always good and it somehow manages to cater to young folk, families and dog owners all at one.

Excellent efficient staff. We were shown to a table in the garden by a lovely girl staff member who was supervising the customers entrance. My wife and I had two rounds of drinks and a quick snack - sausage roll and fries. All staff were excellent and our snack was brought to us in less than 5 minutes. Totally recommend this establishment. Food, drink and all staff 10 out of 10.

Only just discoved this place - but love it. The food was great and they have recently introduced The Kid's Table - which basically is a 'creche type service - that allows you to eat and drink while your kids do arts and crafts. LOVE IT! It meant my friends and I could happily (and freely) eat and drink while our children had the time of their lives crafting - but still in eyesight. More pubs should consider this!! Staff were brill too. Will be spending a lot more time here after the school hols have come to an end! Thank you to this little gem of a pub - great to have in Penge!

Wonderful venue that's started to lose its theme. I have a great admiration for this pub, as Antic don't have a tendency to make their pubs this warm and cozy. But as Antic will, this pub has started to erode at the edges. The big staff turnover has bought in some people who don't show the same passion for what this pub can be. The decor is rustic bordering on broken down and the food and drinks are overpriced. With many years experience under Antic and having actually worked at this pub previously, the standards have slipped. Still a respectable and enjoyable visit to what is very much still a gastro pub, but it doesn't shine the way it used to. The prices go up and up and up and the standards seem to go down and down.

A nice classic, southern style pub, or as classic as it can be during the Covid-19 restrictions. One of the nicest pub in the area. Very spacious and with a huge backgarden. Pre-Covid they had loads of board games around - I hope they bring them back soon. Good for families too. Great food and good veggie Sunday roast. Beer selection gets also thumbs up.

A classically good Antic pub. A mix of traditional local and hipster slick, their now established brand. Unlike some others in their family of pubs this is in an area where it really is full of locals, so the atmosphere is more relaxed, people aren't trying as hard and this makes for a far more enjoyable experience. The manager seems very nice and clearly has a good handle on things. I'm yet to eat but what I've seen coming out looks nice. There is a very nice and large garden, making this a great place to while away an afternoon in the sun.

Great pub, I've lived in the area since I was born and never really noticed it, but it's got a good beer selection, nice layout and good garden. They're dog friendly and give out water and biscuits too.. Only downside is the size of the TV screens, I went here for the world cup match when England played Colombia and had to leave at half time to go somewhere else as it just wasn't watchable.

I organised a family day out back where my parents used to live and this pub was one that they used to frequent 50 odd years ago. I emailed them in advance and Kyle made sure that everything was in order when we arrived. The food came out promptly and the service was excellent. I attended a family function here on this occasion. It was a pleasant visit,th e staff were friendly, attentive, and I had no complaints. The pub, although it felt a bit rundown, was charming and had a good atmosphere about it. The food was delicious, it was a buffet style due to the occasion, it didn't last very long, and some people didn't get the opportunity to taste what was presented. I was told it was done by the catering team in the pub, it was throughly enjoyed. The garden was nice, although my only complaint would be the umbrellas weren't stuck to the ground, and came lose on a few occasions, luckily no damage was done. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely return, and it comes highly recommended if you ever get a chance to visit.

Fairly good sizeable portions of food are served here. The pub is pretty and much larger than it appears from the outside. The pub is clean. The pub is also dog friendly and they make an effort to make dogs welcome by bringing over water and treats. I like the Goldsmith's. The staff are friendly and really attentive. The beer was cold and tasty. We had beef burgers and the fried halloumi with honey and chilli. The food was delicious but I have to say it was just a tad cold. The burgers came with buns that had not been warmed. The halloumi really needs to be piping hot and it was lukewarm.

It's a weird one. In terms of atmosphere theres a lot of different types of people, some more weird then others and all over the spectrum. The people that work there seem nice. I had a look at the food, the burgers were going out and looked decent. I wasn't a fan of the old pub smell and very dodgy looking people sitting there but I would go there and it might have been a one off.

Managed by Antic, owners of the Catford Constitutional in nearby Catford and Jam Circus in Brockley, The Goldsmith Arms is a recently renovated pub which is a very welcome addition to the Penge area. The pub sports a good selection of beers/ales and a kitchen serving good pub food until late. There is also a decent sized beer garden in the back which is great in the summer months.
