Reviews of Greenwich Tavern

This place is great. The staff were uncommonly friendly and they have a wonderful terrace and an outdoor/indoor garden with lovely fur blankets to keep cozy. The salmon dish was excellent 😋

This 8s the place to stop for lunch when your doing sightseeing in the area. On the doorstep of the Royal Observatory Park. The service is fantastic and dog friendly. Staff is friendly and quick with service. And have the Meantime Lager. I like it alot

Dog friendly pub which helped our decision to visit. Food and drink were excellent. Around 12-20 quid for a main course and 5-6 quid a pint. Friendly and efficient service and handy for a dog mooch to the park.

A great place for all thirsty and hungry visitors heading up to see the Greenwich Observatory. The pub is in a great location, right next to the Greenwich Park entrance, and the food served there did not disappoint, was very tasty!

Had a Sunday roast here. All the ingredients are there for a good pub, but unfortunately the service really lacked and we waited 50 minutes after ordering, before asking about our food. Then all 4 plates arrived within 2 minutes. The roast itself was delicious, but a shame to not have good service. Plus the door remained open and there was a constant cold draft with no solution from the staff.

I visited on a very cold November day, and had booked a table for 2 & was seated opposite the bar, my chair was too close to the thoroughfare & I was constantly buffered by customers going to the toilet or the covered outdoor seated area.
The temperature in the pub was chilly made worse by the door to the outside seating area constantly being left open which caused an artic blast. The roast was delicious but served on a pasta bowl not as expected a dinner plate, which made it hard to get the meat off the bone & get to the veg.
I will not visit again in the winter because of the cold.
The staff were polite & efficient.

Have been meaning to try this place. I recently moved to Greenwich and have seen this everytime I visit Greenwich park.
The restaurant has great space inside and outside. Like the look and feel of it.
I tried their Falafel platter, fries and black coffee.
Black coffee was average in taste and could be better.
Falafel platter was delicious. Although the falafel were slightly under cooked, so I could taste the raw taste of the batter.
Fries were crispy and tasted really good.
Few suggestions:
Instead of serving fries in a plate like this, serve it in a basket or a wide plate because whenever I picked the fries, 1 or 2 always slipped out.
Serving mayo and ketchup with fries in a steel dip bowl put me off. You could use ceramic one, that matches the set.
The tissue/spoon holder was really cheap. You can do better.
Presentation matters!
It's not only the food but also the overall feel you get from the ambience and crockery and cutlery and the staff of course.
In terms of COVID-19 hygiene, you can keep the cutlery a bit clean. Wipe it with warm tissue when guest arrives, that would be nice.
The guy who was serving was wearing mask but not covering the nose. So, why wear a mask at all??
Something you should take care of.

This place is usually packed with customers on the weekend which is most likely a reflection of the friendly service, location and lovely pub. Stopped for drinks outside on a weekday, where we had a heater to keep us warm and shelter from the rain. Will definitely be returning.
