A little respite from the bustling area around it, the Guard House bar is beautiful and modern, and the outdoor area is fantastic for relaxing with a cold drink. The food is cooked perfectly. The rump steak was the most tender and flavoursome we've had in a very long time.

Been ages since I was here last (shooting a wedding that time and this!) Staff were friendly and helpful and looked after me. As a photographer I've had a few occasions where I've been treated poorly at venues. But not here! Felt part of the team supporting the couple! The food is great too 😋

It looks like they've turned things around! Visited a couple of years ago, wasn't impressed, but now been twice in the past few weeks and everyone loved it. The service is great, can't fault it, attentive, fast not overbearing (but tbh the service was already good back then). The food is where the difference is huge, really good brunch menu, eggs poached to perfection, really tasty hollandaise. Yesterday was pork roast and it was great - good meat cooked well, good trimmings, excellent jus. We topped it off by an excellent sticky toffee pudding. It's not cheap but would happily go back, I feel like it's worth it.

I wanted to give Guard House 4 stars for the staff and 3 stars for the food, so 3.5 overall. The wait for our order was quite long and the food was not bad, but not great either. Our waiter was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We held a celebration of my Aunts life at the Guard House. We were tin the Mess Room which had a lovely atmosphere for the occasion. The food was delicious & we had a good selection of drinks. The service from Mike & Vicky was excellent & unobtrusive. I would highly recommend the Guard House.

This place oozes class and sophistication, whilst also having that warm relaxing homely feel. A truly remarkable mix of classic and modern styles interior and exterior. Each room within the Guardhouse have different styles so you are sure to find the one right for you and your group. Situated in the historic Royal arsenal with the Thames River just a couple of minutes walk away. I ordered brunch on my visit there which was very tasty and well presented, but the menu is definitely geared towards customers who love meat. It had very limited vegetarian/vegan options. The staff seemed friendly and the service was fast but as you can see I went at a very quiet time of day. Will definitely be going back here and will update this should I see any changes. Positives - design and style, indoor and terrace dining, the selection of different spaces, Clean and well presented, location Close to the river and transport links. Great for meeting friends and work colleagues for relaxing or meetings. Negatives - vegetarian / vegan food is limited.

Victoria, Sebastian and the GH team helped with their proactive, creative and useful suggestions to make our day so special! Our guests were well attended to, the hot food was amazing and the space was really well arranged for us! A seamless service was provided and they went to great effort to get more supplies of their champagne... Can't thank them enough!!

Nice location, despite the noise from the nearby road. What made the experience underwhelming was the fairly lackluster customer service. It shouldn't take a team of waiters more than 10 minutes to take your order, considering there were about 5 tables other than mine, and all of them have already been given their orders. Maybe consider adding a proper menu as well. People can drink things other than beer and wine, you know?

I've been living in the RARE for over 2 years now and I've never stepped in -first reason was previously bad reviews from people on the local FB group but apparently after the management change (dunno if true) people were a lot happier. Outside is a modern place and inside will give you Shoreditch flashbacks -which is a great combination. Staff I've encountered were welcoming and pleasant, something that one would expect. We had breakfast, the sausage & egg (£7) which had everything that you can find in (£2) McDonald's breakfast muffin but in a brioche bun and it tasted a lot better. Porridge (£4.5) with apple compote was as what you expect from a porridge but mentioned honey and custard were nowhere to be seen or tasted. I was surprised to find out (from people on gmaps and FB and was never debunked by management) that food comes frozen because the sausage was great. What I didn't like was the waiting time for a meal to come and it's not a place to come for a quick bite or a break from work. Prices.. I'm still not sure if Central London prices are fair cause at the end of the day -This is Woolwich Arsenal in zone 4

Surprisingly good. I just expected standard overpriced pub food. The food was really tasty, I had the lamb and yoghurt burger and sticky toffee pudding. The service was very good too, and the manager is nice, friendly and welcoming. We were having trouble with app so talked us through menu and made it easy for us to decide and order. A really enjoyable weekend late lunch with a friend, chose it for convenience of location but will actually go back there!

Fabulous historic pictures and nice decor.. I enjoyed settling into their comfy sofa, unfortunately I found the crowd to be a bit too rowdy (group celebrating in the restaurant on my left and Wedding Parry living it up on my right).

A bit overpriced in my opinion and pretentious for a gastropub, £16 for a salmon and goat cheese mini plate is slightly ridiculous. Not to mention the quinoa got swapped with undercooked basmati rice. Burgers and fries were tasty though, but you can't mess much with those, hey? 4 stars just because the front staff are brilliant and I ate all my share of the food after all.

Cod was not cod as stated on menu. It was to finer flakes to be cod and tasted rancid. Would not order again the staff said it was and delivered that day? Staff were so friendly and the food was great! We were able to change tables a couple of times and they were so accommodating. The roasts are to die for and they allow you to bring dogs too. No complaints! Definitely will be going back :) Much nicer atmosphere than the Dial Arch.

We booked a table for 6 to celebrate a friends life following a funeral. Service was good and food tasted great. The portion size of the side order of chips is very small but other than that all very good. Very clean with clear social distancing measures in place. Hand sanitizer was available throughout the establishment. Felt relaxed and comfortable.

I've been in here a few times post-COVID and have been pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff are. I was previously a Dial Arch regular and I thought Guard House was posh, but it has a very friendly and welcoming vibe. On Friday our host was Dena(?) and she was fabulous and helpful. Booked out 2 rooms and ordered platters of food for a function - whilst not the cheapest, the food was good quality, delicious and plentiful - the platters were far more substantial that I had thought. Would particularly recommend the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and fish and chips! Everyone was well looked after and there was no issue with the fact that we overrun on time. On the pricey side but a lovely atmosphere, good range of food and drinks, the food has always been lovely and so are the staff. You have a choice of sitting by the bar which is more of a lively common area, and there's seating through the doorway a bit more casual and you can 'settle in' on the big sofas, and on the far end is a quiter bar with more formal seating. I have been here several times now, both for drinks, food, on-the-whim, planned celebrations, as a couple, friends and family. This is an excellent place to be.

What a great surprise! My wife and I were travelling through London, and came across this restaurant, and it beat all my expectations. For one, the food is delicious, I had half expected a lot of pre-made, frozen, microwaved food, and had accepted that. When the food came, it was delicious and fresh and could only have been made there at the restaurant, that's from the venison pie I had to my wife's vegetarian meal. Delicious, both my wife's and mine. Same time, the beer selection was great, and as a foreigner unfamiliar with some of the options, the staff were great in letting me try out different ones until I find just the right one for my meal. Now we will be going back to try out more, definitely the best restaurant in the area. Happily would recommend it to anyone.

All our guests were majorly impressed, describing the venue as beautiful and intimate, and the buffet food as highly delicious (easily accommodating special dietary requirements). Our smaller guests enjoyed the green outdoor space, and our older guests enjoyed the private bar & bartender in the Mess Bar! I hired two rooms at The Guard House for a corporate event and I couldn't have chose a better venue. The staff were so attentive and organised. The service here was spot on our waitresses did a superb job but we felt that the portions of food on our plates were not enough for for the money that was charged. Although I live quite local I have never eaten at the Guardhouse before. Having a visitor today I decided to take them for a walk and lunch. On passing we decided to give it a go. I opted for the mussels which were on special and my guest had the fish and chips. Both were delightful as was the service. Shown to a quieter corner after our meal where we enjoyed a coffee and a brandy. Lovely afternoon and I will certainly be returning.

I booked a charity event at the Guardhouse and from the first day I called to the end of today, the guardhouse made every moment pleasantly memorable, Dan and the team at guardhouse were so supportive of what our charity wanted to achieve, even when we fell short of numbers they still accommodated our every request! Amazing service, we had free reign to have fun, play our own 🎶, private bar! Good Food! What more could you ask for, for a private event🤷. Thank you Guardhouse! Brilliant place to meet drink and share a few stories. This is a really up market pub / restaurant and you will like the food, that's a promise! Great range of beers and wines you will like this pub.. see I said it twice! Great place to sit in an arm chair or a nice comfy three piece, or even on a bar stool or around a large table - as one group tonight did Loved the reviews of their books ( it was a writer's group), even though I was just ear dropping really, but just goes to show that in this pub their are a number of different rooms - this one was perfect for a quiet chat around the table. Others for food and music and another for a roudy mob with beer and loud boasting on their minds. You will love it. See I said it again!

what a beautiful building. friendly helpful staff great location. I hired one of the rooms for my twin boys 18th and they done us proud it was the best birthday present they had ever had. their words not mine. and surprisingly very reasonable price and availability especially as we booked it just before Christmas. my recommendation is if you need to have a party this is the place to do it, if you just want a night out in a special location this is also the place 10 11 out of 10.

This is a beautiful pub come restaurant, based inside the old woolwich arsenal. But it's also one of those high priced yuppie places I'd normally steer clear of. Nice for a treat but not a local, given the yups. Decor is old style seats and fire places with historical reminders of the arsenal.

Pros: Ok food and drinks; nice waiters and outdoor / indoor space. Nice to see how this place was refurbished and wait staff are very nice and easy going. Cons: Something's missing. With the dial arch so close, I think they need to diversify their food and drinks menu. Has more potential (in both revenue and crowds) than it's current state. Management should consider a) maximizing the outside space more (on the terrace and in front of the restaurant), b) distinguishing the food/drinks menu more and c) enhancing the ambience.

The kitchen is now producing a solid Sunday roast menu and the food quality is a match for the Dial Arch (their closest rival). The venue has plenty of space including a glass house pub bar and café. Great to see this place spread its wings.

A very nice restaurant with excellent food and great service. They also have a separate drinks and nibbles only area if that's what you'd like to do. Guardhouse also has an outdoor patio for those rare sunny days as well as some seating outside the patio for when the weather is really nice and more people want to sit outside.

At first glance the place look's great when you first enter with the Bar on the right and the restaurant on the left. Me and the girlfriend was greeting by a girl with blue hair who was very helpful and very polite to help us find a sit to eat. The food is very nice, I had the Stilton Soup and Steak for the main course which was cooked to perfection and the toffee apple trifle was great. After we had a couple of drinks in the bar which had alot of range of beers, ale and wines. I would happy recommend this place to anyone.

Across the road, in the real woolwich, is MOMOs wonderful Tibetan restaurant. See my pics. That lot , with a big Nepal pint was £24 . It was a big meal and filled us both. Delicious.
