Reviews of Hackney Coffee Company
V. R.
Beautiful place, in front of a busy avenue, but still so you feel calm and relaxed inside.
We had some toasties and coffee, everything full of flavour, wonderful quality coffee and ingredients.
You can feel the fresh taste when enjoying your meal.
Staff so polite, friendly and helpful.
D. W.
Very quiet when we went on a Sunday morning at 10.45am. lovely building and very spacious. Has an outdoor area. Great coffee. Saw about it on the OneZone app and had been meaning to go for a while. Glad we finally made it.
M. Y.
Super cute cafe in Hackney! Their beetroot latte is great and tumeric latte was so colourful! A great selection of drinks and food. The cafe also turns into a bar which I want to check out!
R. E.
This place was a gem find whilst I was shopping for house plants. This part of London's full of plant shops and you can see it in the venue too!
Stopped for coffee and a matcha and had the best mocha ever made. The matcha latte was good too. The mocha was very smooth and one can tell the coffee was well blended and high quality.
Their interior really embraces the rustic East London aesthetic. I'l have to stop by again for brunch. Highly recommend.

You have to venture inside to appreciate this beautiful large quirky space. Shop front has no seating, but go on through after you've ordered at the counter and you'll find yet another room...and then another. Well worth an investigation, wonderfully decorated, lots of seating, some really comfortable chairs too...coffee was great.
When we visited on a Sunday, there was no food, only coffee was being served and a few cakes.
I had a Cortado, would have preferred it in a smaller cup or glass...my companion ordered a flat white which was unusually served in a lovely small cup, while my Cortado came in the big glass, didn't look so nice. But like I said...it tasted GREAT, strong and smooth and that's what counts. Highly recommended.
Thanks guys ✨

Great coffee, nice ambience with all the plants in the back room.
Would go here a lot more often if they had more/better food options at lunchtime. Right now it's some so-so sandwiches sitting out on the counter, not bad exactly but also not good enough to say "let's go THERE for lunch!".

Absolutely lovely coffee shop! Not only was the coffee amazing (oat milk was perfectly steamed/coffee not burned) but the sandwich (pesto & mozzarella) and pastry (lemon & olive oil cake) hit the spot:)
Aside from the food and coffee, the space is amazing (lots of natural light, plants, and space to sit) and staff were friendly! I found it to be a great place for me to get work done on my laptop (free wifi). Will most definitely be back :)
O. R.
Beautiful coffee shop with ample space, good coffee and delicious sandwiches!
L. T. T.
friendly staff and lovely space, but -1 for weirdly ashy coffee??
H. S.
It's a lovely environment with a good set up for people looking to work on laptops. Sky lights make it bright and hanging plants add a good vibe. I went in the afternoon and the cafe was pretty empty and quiet. Lots of gluten free cake options but weren't serving food. They closed at 4pm. Quite expensive but I would go back.
J. W.
Have Outdoor cozy seatings at the back, very friendly staff! Love the atmosphere, music playing in the background, outdoor kitchen which you can see.
Food are fresh and delicious but very limited, would expect more due to the higher end prices.
Would recommend this place if you're looking for something not too crowded and relax atmosphere.

Really spacious and peaceful inside. Deceptively cosy "shop front" leads to a bright and airy seating area and patio. As it was a quiet day I had the patio to myself which was a rare treat. The mocha (decaf) was pretty good and didn't disappoint. Prices in this part of East London are often a little higher than average. Even so I would probably come back and try the food sometime.
L. T.
My first time here since moving to east London and it’s by far the best coffee shop I’ve been too
S. K.
Such a nice place!!
Good coffee, good dessert and kind staffs
I visited this cafe with my friend and had a filter coffee with a piece of cake. It was coffee flavor and not too sweet. I love there coffee and atmosphere.
J. A.
Lovely cafe close to home. From outside you wouldn't think its a big place but it's huge inside. very nice and earthy with comfortable seating space.

Gorgeous place, coffee was strong but not bitter, plus staff was very friendly, will defiantly go back when back working in Hackney.
S. S.
Fantastic coffee shop. Good coffee but also serves beer, wine and cocktails. Offers a range of cakes - the raspberry and almond was particularly good. The best thing about the place is the spacious setting and relaxed ambience.
J. G.
Excellent coffee and food in a very big space with lots of natural light! I had the salt beef toastie which was be dry tasty and large. The flat white as also great.
N. V.
Nice vibe cafe with space to work on the laptop! Will come back many more times for sure!
J. G.
Wonderful venue with great coffee. Does a inspiring variety of breakfasts to those that would like to eat, especially over the weekend! Solid WiFi and just awesome!
B. C.
Great place for a Sunday breakfast. Food is beautiful and not expensive, portions are big and very tasty! A good choice of coffe, especially for boutique coffee lovers.
S. r.
Ideal place for studying/working! Warm and cozy. The coffee quality is extremely good and their cakes are amazing!!
G.
Went for Rogues pre 6.30pm set menu. Lovely setting, lovely staff, lovely food. Good price
K. M.
Nice bright modern cafe with food, drinks and gorgeous interior. If you are into plants, you need to go. Lovely displays overhead. Good seating, up front, middle and small courtyard. Lots of choice for vegans and veggies. Thick smoothies and nice breakfasts. Funky feels. Quiet and not to busy, so you can plug in and work or read.
S. H.
My favourite coffee shop in East London.
Decor 10/10
Lots of seating, never an issue to stay on
Food and pastries are great- toasted sandwiches and soup are great.
Drinks in the evening- highly recommend one of the signature espresso martinis! Very cheap I think £8.
Lovely staff, and the same friendly faces each time!
Back garden is open during summer which adds space and let’s you sit outside!
Also holds supper clubs with local chefs/ florists!
Free WiFi, great lighting, great coffee
K. N.
This cosy and hip coffeehouse is one of my favourite in the capital.
The interiors are chic with wooden floorings and exposed brick walls. It's much bigger than it looks too, with a larger area at the back that features a skylight allowing loads of natural light to brighten the room. I loved that the overhanging foliages brings the outside inside. You won't find tourists in here, this is a hidden gem that only the locals know about.
There's a good selection of smooth coffee, creative lattes (think matcha latte), and sweet cakes to select plus, a menu with heartier dishes like shakshuka. This coffeehouse is manned by friendly staff too.
Great to work in, to socialise with friends (and even a cute date!), The Hackney Coffee Company is my coffeehouse of choice in East London.

Easily one of the best cafe finds in (east) London! Spacious interior and ample seatings. There was a section that's well-lit with natural light and a dimmer cozier section. The layout and decor was well thought-out. Loved the greenery juxtaposing the industrial Chic design. You'll see people working away on their laptops as well as the Hackney hipsters hence the hip and modern vibes. Another salient point is that the coffee was delicious, smooth and well rounded. A good mocha is for me the harbinger of a solid cafe. Chai latte was silly too although it could have a stronger chai taste.
T. S.
You wouldn’t expect how big is inside from the outside look but it is a huge place with big tables and beautiful plants around you, the ceiling allows you take natural lights and you can work/read from here. The smoothies are recommended!
M. T. M.
Great vibe ,nice coffee. The area is good for laptop working. The space is high ceiling. Highly recommended.
E. S.
Coffee was good, felt a bit sourish when hot! They sell their own roasted and packaged coffee. Plenty of room to sit inside or outside
M. C.
Great coffee shop! Lots of places to sit and the coffee is actually really nice and smooth. The food is quite good too- I just wish they had more choice.
T. H.
It's all about the gorgeous atrium bathed in light at the back, usually with an artistic installation of some sort set against the exposed brick and nicely designed interior. It's well worth a visit even if only to see how different it is from your perceptions looking at it from the outside. It's a shame they removed the nice long sharing table and the sofas becuase it's lost a bit of the aesthetic and comfort it once had.
P. C.
We loved everything about this place: food was excellent and service outstanding everyone was so lovely and attentive! Thank you will be definitely coming back :)
T. B.
Great space, opens up a bit like the wardrobe in Nania. Great coffee. Great place to hangout
S. D.
Fantastic eve at HCC. Food was superb - a hidden gem. Highly recommended.
G. S.
Went there for a supper club which was full of Hackney hipsters - what was I thinking?! Staff were friendly but tried to overcharge me for drinks. On prompting, he did correct himself with minimum fuss, so good save.
It's a nice space, though a bit of a trek from the nearest tube.
B. S. (.
Pretty and comfortable cafe with nice seating and wonderful plant installations.
C. K.
Nice hip cafe with a relaxed atmosphere. Tried the ice latte it was very good. Would recommend.
S. M.
Great cafe. The staff is kind and welcoming, the place is clean and chill, perfect to get some work done with your laptop. There are plugs too. Just awesome!
P. B.
Must visit! Very delicious cakes, good coffee and nice atmosphere. My favourite coffee shop in London
K. A.
I had a reasonable coffee here. It didn't disappoint me, but it didn't offer anything different from the many, many other coffee places that marble London
A. R.
Awesome coffee and great atmosphere! Hidden gem. Serves high quality coffee.
A. “. R.
We have walked past this place lots of times and decided to go in... You know that feeling when you go in somewhere and you see the size of the portions and you want to leave but you can't - this was that.
Food was tasty, but lots of the sauces and emulsions tasted similar. The lobser roll was nice (but for £18 I thought it was be more substantial). The food was extremely staggered in coming over.
I noticed a couple of the waiters noticing that we didn't have any mains on the table despite ordering 30 minutes earlier and receiving one of the 3. Food then arrived slightly quicker. Potatoes were nice and so was asparagus. Wagyu was the best dish of the evening, but not everything was worth the wait or price tag.
Approx £100 later we left hungry, full with only regret and like we'd stumbled into the wrong place selling bbq and charcoal dreams... Not the case and would not return.

Cool coffee place, nice decor
A. P.
Amazing! Great customer service, very tasty food and great value for money!
Been here a few times and have never been disappointed.
Also pet friendly which is great!
R. S.
Good relaxed atmosphere, great oat milk coffee as well and polite staff

My first visit was before the pandemic and can I say, what a great coffee shop! Both my coffee and food were delicious, the staff was nice, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I’m locked down in CA, so haven’t been able to support since, but I will definitely be back this autumn!
L. D.
has a lovely large space which goes back a fair bit and an outside space. From the entrance you would not believe how big it is. My second visit in the week was to do some work with daughter on our laptops and amazed how busy it was, another look of professional's working away in a different setting was interesting.
A. M. M.
Wonderful and peaceful place to be. When you walk through the place to find a seat your eyes open more and more, stunning place for a drink and a bite.
H. B.
First time visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday with my daughter's and friend was so impressed with the relaxed setting, has a lovely large space which goes back a fair bit and an outside space. From the entrance you would not believe how big it is. another look of professional's working away in a different setting was interesting.
L. G.
Super great job at making this coffee place special. The interior design is spotless. Great little courtyard and nice coffee obviously :)
N.
Amazing interior design and decor. Slightly overpriced but is to be expected. One of the best cafes in this part of London!
K. T.
Clean, bright and modern coffee shop. Love the art and decor alongside the furnishings in this cafe. The coffee tastes amazing and staff are very helpful also. Definitely a must try for coffee lovers.
S. J.
Great food with a very homely interior, highly recommended!
T. R.
Good selection of coffees and pastries.
They have a lot of seating and a gorgeous conservatory area with lots of plants. If it’s sunny you can sit outside in the little garden.
Good playlists on while I was there too. Great place to sit and chill for a while while enjoying a cup of coffee. They also do brunch but I didn’t try this!
J. C.
One of the nicest coffee shops I've been to. And now they're also serving cocktails in the evenings and are also having live music, which only serves to add value to the experience of going there. It's also a great atmosphere with plenty of space and more than adequate seating. Overall a wonderful place to visit, whether you just want to grab a quick quality coffee, or want to sit and chill and have something to eat.
Staff are always polite and friendly.
Well worth a visit.
H. S.
This is such a beautiful place. I really didn't expect this huge room and equally grand wooden table at the back. The sound of falling rains on the big windows contrasted so well with how comfortably we were sitting that it just brought a great Higge feeling to this coffee break. The coffee was of great quality. There wasn't enough choice for my likings but I'd rather have one great coffee and pastry than the choice between 10 average one, so all good ☕🥐. I will definitely go back when in tje neighbourhood
R. W.
Classy establishment, lovely ambience, friendly staff and delicious coffee
D. A.
Went to Rogues London for some dinner and had the BEST food I've had in my life
J. C.
Fantastic venue for a wedding reception. Food quality and service excellent.
C. E.
Fantastic coffee space with amazing hanging plants trailing down from the double height ceiling. The coffee is very good. I ordered a single espresso and the creama was the right colour and amount for such a drink. It was pleasantly enlivening after the glorious supper club that I attended last week. They are doing innovative things and you should support their endeavours!
S. D.
Such a cool café in the heart of Hackney. It also serves food and cocktails and turns into a music venue few days per month.
J. K.
I love these guys, so I was gutted about no longer being able to enjoy the ever changing fantastic flower arrangements, while sipping on my fave brew. Great venue. Just ordered their amazing coffee to take me back to old times.
A. C.
Cocktails are £6 during happy hour. There is more space than you think.
J. W.
I come here a lot! I meet friends here and come with my family, including the dog! Usually come for brunch at the weekends. My 2yo is obsessed with croissants and they never disappoint. Great full English, lovely spicy shakshuka and good selection of toasted sandwiches. I'm not a coffee drinker, but have good selection of teas. They also do killer cocktails!
s. r.
Exceptionally good coffee (in fact it was so good I couldn't resist having a second one) and a delicious toasted sandwich - a real hidden gem
L. S.
Very nice and cosy coffee shop. Good quality of coffee and friendly staff. I would have been fully satisfied with a greater choice of food during lunch time and given a 5 stars review. Except croissants and few pastries, only 2 types of salads were available. A part from that, I think I found my new study-place :D
T.
Amazing place nice and chilled could literally sit there all day and work. Lovely nibbles and light food and also good coffee better than what you would usually get in just your basic coffee shop. Will definitely come back here when I'm around the area and would recommend to those who want to meet up with friends or even just to stay and work for the day
D. F.
The best strong black coffee in Hackney and lovely people working there. Very spacious space, great spot to bring few friends, or come on your own to have a coffee and do some quick admin work with your laptop.
D. D.
Really, really lovely interior and very fine coffee, if a bit on the rocket fuel side. The rear of the cafe opens out into an outdoor area, and there's loads of room for you to sit with your laptop or have meetings. A few more varieties of coffee, and perhaps a few salads, and this place would be perfect. Staff are attentive and care about what they're doing.
F. B.
Coffee is beaut and so is the interior, literally one of my fav coffee shops in the world 💯
C. B.
This place is fantastic for coffee, if your looking to get an authentic coffee blend with individual taste then head on over. Great place to rest up and take a break, also great for company meetings upstairs! Only downside is the portion sizes for takeaway coffee no options to get a large or small but the coffee taste makes up for it.
M. v. d. H.
Absolutely delicious coffee (my personal favourite is Columbia Road) and customer service couldn't be better.
G. B.
One of my globally favorite coffee shops. Excellent drinks well constructed. A good espresso base with milk nicely textured. Great service and a unique intimate atmosphere. When I fly back to London from San Francisco this place and Prufrock are must visits. Please don't change anything.
Z. G.
Really nice place with great coffee!
R. J.
Great independent coffee shop, with echoes of Shoreditch hipster chic in just the right amount. Fantastic coffee, delicious snacks, tasty sandwiches and a playlist that is off the beaten track yet pleasing to the ears. Don't be fooled by the deceptive view from the outside - Doctor Who would feel quite at home in this expansive hidden treasure with plenty of seating in their light and bright back rooms. Thoroughly recommended.
J. S.
A very friendly welcome as a new customer was a very pleasant surprise. As a coffee and customer service lover this is a perfect marriage, set in a trendy, relaxed seating area where your time is always your own. I even chose some coffee to be ground for me to take home and continue the enjoyment. Definitely a have to try place.
S. A.
The space is beautiful and love the plants on the ceiling it adds to the decoration.
The food selection is also great, just slightly more expensive (like £1 to £2) from the regular brunch prices in London. Also - don’t go hungry, it’s a hipster type of venue with a gourmet type of plates - you know those massive plates with only one slice of sourdough with loads of avocado on top.
The granola also comes in a massive plate with many nuts and a flower which is cute.
The cups need a bit of a wash cause the coffee and dark tea has stained them so for anyone that likes the cups clean you might not feel they are clean enough. Also the milk for the tea comes in it’s separate cup which also doesn’t seem to have had a wash for a while.
The staff is super friendly. The space is beautiful and the food is tasty too so just would be great if it wasn’t cleaner ☺️
D. E.
Coffee was delicious, not much more to say.
Edit:
Went again today, lovely coffee again but had a croissant which was past its best. Soft not flakey, so one star off for that.
A vegan cake bought yesterday for a friend was reportedly delicious however, so maybe just the french pastries that had been out a bit long.
S. G.
Awesome coffee place with great decoration and vibe. They also do Sofar Sounds time to time
B. K.
Friendly staff serving lovely coffee. I either go for a flat white or short black and am never disappointed.
The upstairs area is a nice spot to relax or get some work done but depending when you go you may find it difficult to get a seat.
A. O. T. S.
This coffee shop is absolutely amazing, i got The best coffee experience in this place. They have comfy interior and a lot of interesting books, so you are welcome to come and relax enjoying great coffee! They are not Cheap but how they making mocha... OMG! They deserve every pence from The price. The best speciality coffee, i love it!
B. C.
Great coffee, lovely space, prices to match.
And I was drinking in and had to hang around and wait for my coffee to be made, rather than having it bought over to my seat. I would have expected not to have to loiter when paying nearly £3 for a coffee, but maybe I'm out of touch!
E. C.
Quirky coffee shop with lots of space and interesting decor. Staff were lovely and coffee good 👍
M. A.
Great coffee place in the Cambridge Heath area. They recently expanded the cafe, so more people can enjoy in a spacious setting. In summer they also had a small court yard in the back.
H. U.
I saw someone on here complaining they weren't allowed to use their laptop. Well I was here today and it was filled with people on their laptops, charging their phones and generally looking miserable. I struggled to even find a seat to have lunch because of the numerous people using the electricity and WiFi. For me I want a cosy, friendly atmosphere in a coffee shop, and I found it unwelcoming.
H. B. R.
Good coffee and really beautiful space (my favourite in town probably), but I’ve been five times in the past month and a half and they never have “filters” to make filter coffee, which is a disappointment (I guess they don’t make it anymore).
N. N.
Enjoyed a nice peppermint tea at the Hackney Road coffee shop.
Friendly warm welcome from the Barista, and the shop was nice and warm on a chilly Jan afternoon.
On the afternoon i was in there, the shop had a pleasant and interesting music play list, that just worked to help me wind down, and for an hour escape the hurly burly of busy working london life.
I understand that this existing cafe is moving into a much larger, spanking new space next door in early 2018.
This move will add another star to their overall google review rating, and make the place just just just perfect. ...
Well worth a visit.....
M. R.
Went for an event, the location was unexpectedly nice with friendly and helpful staff.
