Reviews of Hand of Glory

Lovely staff and atmosphere! Music! Candles! Classic style! So relaxing!
Sunday roast 🥰 just had the chicken, it was hot and delicious! Proper portion ! Missed the stuffing though 😅
Definitely a must visit
R. H.
Quirky yet homely, exciting yet chilled, quality drinks yet not overly priced, the Hand of Glory pretty much covers your mood which ever day you go. The eclectic music takes you on a journey, as does the pub quiz. The roasts are amazing as are the burgers. It’s that local you’ve wanted, and you’ll see that immediately as the smiley bar people want to be there too… See you at the bar 😉

Stumbled upon this bar by accident, came in for a drink and the bartender told me that there was another selection in the back bar. I wandered through and found a rock/metal band playing. It was a great experience and i'm glad that i came into this pub! Would definitely come again for some interesting music and a drink. The pub has a very dingy feel to it but it isn't it's just atmospheric which I really liked.
F. H.
Made a really unplanned stop and stumbled upon this pub as a nice surprise. Have to say the Sunday Roast is really good and the services are spot on. You get a bottle of water and drinking glasses as standard on the table. Atmosphere and deco are good. Fresh flowers on each table is a nice touch. Overall will definitely recommend.
O. O.
Well they got a black bartender and the same crowd but more welcoming.
R. B.
Good Sunday lunch. Whacky decor. Friendly staff. Part of the Jaguar Shoes Collective. Could do with a new couch. Beers are odd. Found a nice pilsner.
T. E.
A really fun pub. Friendly staff and lovely beer. Thanks for having us 🕶️
G. H.
Pub had a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, however the Sunday Roast (beef) wasn't as good as I had hoped. Roast potatoes were undercooked inside but overdone on the outside, Yorkshire puddings were overdone and slightly burnt on the bottom and the "lashings of delicious gravy" translated to being very weak and watery (we also had to ask for more as there wasn't enough). However the garlic kale and mash was lovely and there was plenty of meat although the beef was slightly overdone - not pink in the slightest and looked a bit anaemic. There were eight of us eating and we all thought the same. Music was also slightly too loud for a relaxed Sunday afternoon roast.
M. K.
The outdoor terrace is to the noisy road.
Go inside to the pub to order as the table service app doesn't seem to work anymore.
C. M.
Hackney boozer with knick knacks hanging from every available spot.
Sells milk by the glass.
By milk I mean beer, and by glass I mean pint.
S. D.
Lovely pub with friendly staff! went here for NYE with loads of friends. Could not have found a better venue to bring the new year in! Thanks for the great night.
J. J.
The kind of pub you wished you owned. Really well decorated. I went for a roast which slightly let it down unfortunately. The vegetables weren't very well cooked. Good for drinks.
S. R.
Really great place. Love the staff and options. Perfect place for a pint after some sport on Hackney Downs.
Something about the food choices (nibbles) makes it difficult to combine them together ...
P. N.
I’ve been dropping into the Hand Of Glory for the past three years or so, and I can honestly it’s a one of a kind pub. The staff are extremely friendly and fun, the music is fresh (almost exclusively vinyl), and the general atmosphere is welcoming, cool and unique. A special shout out to the manager Josh, who runs the show in a fun, calm, and considered manner.
F. W.
I visit this pub quite often as it is a local for me. However, it was the first time that I went for a Sunday roast recently. The food was incredible! The chef also made our table a huge apple crumble that didn't disappoint. The atmosphere at this pub is always really lovely, but it was particularly great as there was a live jazz band playing, just what you need on a Sunday evening. I will of course be back :)
O. L.
Great Pub. Staff are brilliant. And food is exceptional (burger). Very friendly, thoughtful and accommodating.
Cheers!
J. P.
Such a great 'After Lockdown' experience. The staff are really friendly and polite and the pub itself adheres to all the regulation to feel safe. I food was absolutely delicious, the chef you can tell really cares about his food. Good quality produce and the fries we're amazing. Overall, one of my favs in East London right now.
K. P.
Stylish pub, everything wood and low lights , staff are not only courteous but have a laugh with you, which in London can be rare (this won you the 4* otherwise would of been 3.5*). Beer was pretty tasty, admittedly didn't try the food. Winning all around. Can be very busy so get there early during this current early closing hours period.
L. W.
Great pub, lovely staff. I still get a lot of joy from nerding out over the Wicker Man theming, to be honest.
J. A.
Flooded bogs but otherwise cool pub
J. G.
I liked the pub and the barman, was standing in in that day. He was very sociable and friendly but a medium glass of chardonnay cost me £10. I can get two bottles of wine from Asda at that price. There were a family group in the pub when I arrived and no other customers. When they left, I was the only customer in the pub. I was there for half hour and the only person who came in was the delivery guy. Nice pub and music though but too expensive 😁
D. R.
A local pub where people feel comfortable and relaxed
T. A.
Lovely little pub that does a really good roast, has good beers on tap, and had really friendly staff. It somehow captures the friendly spirit of a country pub, but with the quality and diversity of food and drinks of the big city. It's a good trick and this is a nice pub. The chef even did a lap of the pub last visit to check everyone was happy with their food, very friendly atmos!
C. M.
What an awesome place, the staff are absolutely fantastic and eager to help. In fact one particular member of staff had researched the meaning of what a "Hand of Glory meant". Legend has it that a convicted criminal who had been executed, might have his hand removed, and used in witchcraft! Surely an ideal location for Halloween? The pubs interior is a lot less spooky, with a lovely comfortable feel, and attention to detail. Many thanks folks, "I'll be back"!
?.
Nice pub, nice staff but shame about the view.
They're owned by the Jaguar Shoes group and so the vibe is pretty stripped back and minimal. The staff are really nice, they're chatty without being intrusive which I love as being served a pint is an interaction where a bit of warmth is better for me. I just wish this place had a garden. I'm not a smoker but love sitting outside with a beer - just not on a main road. Still it's one of those pubs that has made Clapton a more desirable part of town without being too much of a venue for hipsters. There's a menu for food but I always seem to be there when the kitchen is closed so I can't vouch for it.
M. S.
Really nice atmosphere and cosy pub, which is open until late at the weekend. Nice staff.
R. G.
Great place, random decor and often great music. Only downside for me is the beer selection. If you dont want the in house lager or pale theres not much choice. Seems like a commercial decision and it feels like that... wide selection of spirits though
M.
Wow! This place rocks...literally. Spent a late Friday and Saturday in this Jaguar shoes collectively run pub in stoke Newington. From the seven deadly gins, craft beers and some surprising cocktails you have a recipe for a great evening. But wait there is a live DJ too, playing loads of great tunes to get people moving.....just fabulous. PS. the most fun loving and cool door person I have ever met.
D. B.
Very friendly staff and the roasts are quite good for a pub (I've never had a pub roast that comes remotely close to beating my own creations). Desserts were lovely. Sadly outside seating is terrible and indoors it's pretty dingy down the back. A pub for winter only
E. H.
Good atmosphere and beer selection. The highlight is the Wild Dog hot dogs made from Yorkshire acorn fed pork which are really tasty served with great handcut fries (they also serve decent cheesy chips..) Staff friendly, cool n' hip crowd. Thanks
C. D.
Really like the inside but just can't understand the Hackney interest in sitting outside next to a major road intersection. Find a pub with a garden, there's loads around. The Clapton Hart, The Star, The Windsor Castle and those three are just the ones I can think of in 2 seconds. Good pub for the winter but again don't sit at the front as the door is a wind tunnel machine.
E. W.
Great selection of drinks and the best ever chips we've ever had 😍😍😍
N. C.
So I am hanging, just finished work and have had ROAST on my mind since I woke up! Had been recommended Hand of Glove so I took a stroll down Amhurst Road to find establishment. I was greeted by the lovely Lana who was both welcoming and helpful. She went above and beyond the call of duty even bringing wine to my table to go with my roast. The roast was really bloody good, cooked to perfection with loads of gravey and big portions. Will definitely be returning.
R. A.
A fantastic little pub with great staff and a brilliant atmosphere. The beer selection is pretty good, and the food is great.... especially the Sunday Roast dinners. There's outside seating too.
L. A.
This is a great pub with a good range of beers. However in the winter they don't put the heating on and it's absolutely freezing in there. Pubs should be warm, cosy and inviting!
L. J.
Serious hipster pub. Amazing roasts on Sunday. Pricey as most posher pubs are. Enjoyed food and drink here but wondered where all the other ethnic groups were...everyone was white durning the 3 hrs I was there!
M. 1.
Wow... a really nice salad... intriguing enough to tempt me - and as I don't remember ever having a salad "out" in my whole life (as it always seems a rip off rabbit food) ... that's a huge achievement... and it was gorgeous! Would definitely recommend it and the cheesy sweet potato fries... will certainly be back to try everything else
J. L.
Live DJs on Friday nights. Yummy hipster hot dogs, burgers, slaws and various fries - curly or straight, regular or sweet potato, with chilli and cheese. Full and impressive bar for cozy establishment with several great craft brews on tap. Friendly, fun staff. We'll be coming back!
I. S.
We came to this cosy pub on a Monday night before going to a show at Hackney Downs Studios. This was the only place open that night in the area for drinks (no food on a Monday night unfortunately). We had a great cup of mocha coffee, and I'm so glad that this type of drink was available here on such a cold and wet night in London.
Gorgeous decor, kind of modern rustic style. The staff was very friendly and with good sense of humor. It is certainly a lovely little pub with charming character.
A. L.
Awesome pub. Great choice of beers and spirits. If you are feeling hungry, try the fried chicken burger and the cheesy fries. Great time had here
O. W.
Amazingly weirdly decorated in a pagan witchy style. Friendly staff, a happy hour and discounts if you hold a jaguar shoes card. Be aware, food is delish burgers and hotdogs and fries but they don't serve it on Monday and do roasts on a Sunday.
M. C.
Great and cosy pub. Friendly bartenders too who can offer advice on what beer to have. Their pop up food selection is always good too.
J. B.
Always a good time at the Hand of Glory.
Best pub roast I have had in quite some time.
Great atmosphere and service with good music.
D. (.
Great food, great staff, great drinks, banging quiz. This is the only pub you need
M. G.
Nice local pub with a garden, good selection of beer!
S. W.
Independent beer selections and generally friendly staff
K. P.
5* Sunday roast! I come back every month for those delicious beef!
L.
Really nice pub out in hackney. Friendly bar staff with a good choice of largers and a nice music selection. Would recommend 👍👍
A. u.
Been exploring my favourite craft beers over 3 years now and hands down this place holds my favourite beer which I tried for the first time last week - Gold Top Milk Pale Ale
R. H.
Usual Hackney service from uninterested staff who charge you for a large after asking for a ‘medium’, clearly inconsistent measures from what other customers had. Food order went the same way and had to be returned. Interesting decor and quite a nice vibe. If you enjoy paying £17 for a pint, some crisps and a glass of wine then this is the place to be.
S. H.
Best service and pub in the East. Perfect pint everytime, great food, brilliant live music and event. Couldn't ask for a better pub.
J. G.
Great local with surprisingly good food. The burgers here are actually really good. Way better than what you'd expect from your average pub.
M. G.
It’s a cool bar and all, but I was charged inconsistent prices for my drinks thru out the night, when I realised and confronted the two members of staff one said his price was correct the other one shrugged it off saying the other guy was new and didn’t know what he was doing. I know it seems petty but I felt a bit like it was assumed I was drunk and it didn’t really matter...
A. N.
Good small little pub with a couple staff about. Only tried their milk beer and havnt tried the food. Small little garden/ smoking area at the back
V. V.
Good atmosphere. Good cocktails. Film nights. And beer called Milk!!! The bar staff are also cool
A. M.
The best Sunday roast in London by a country mile! Literally everyone I have shown has absolutely loved it and in turn has told their friends too. Never ever disappointed!
D. P.
Marvellous collection of delicious and unusual ciders and draught beer. Lovely modern local. Really good Sunday lunches. Helpful and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
J. W.
Old school pub with a young clientele. Interesting, but not a beer aficionado's kind of place. Good for a quiet afternoon chat, some pub food.
O. S.
Awesome local! Very tasty huge Sunday roasts and always a few decent beers on. baby and child friendly.
T. F.
Really nice pub. Great selection of drinks and food was great. The fries are amazing. From the Jag Shoes Collective
I. K.
Love this place. After work Friday drinks. Drafts are amazing and staff and management very friendly. DJ plays good vibes.
L. H.
Lovely pub, really pleased to have found this place, great beers on tap, nice atmosphere, candles, good service. Tick!
J. B.
Favourite pub in Dalston. Music on regularly and I genuinely think about their nut roast when I'm not there...
V. I.
Lovely easy going local pub. Friendly staff and there's usually live music on a small stage at the back.
L. V.
Friendly young crowd. No nonsense, friendly service. Excellent food, with a healthy twist and vegan options.
E. P.
Friendly, low-key staff and tasty beers you won't get in standard chain pubs.
L. P.
Nice place, really liked the decor inside and felt very comfortable and homely. Owners were accommodating to our large group!
J. D.
Nice little tucked away hipster pub with a later licence - a good place for out outs after another pub
L.
Nice local pub, I go there only to have a nice beer on the weekend ( nice selection). I cannot comment on the food.
W. J.
Lovely bar, good dj playing the ole skool soul classics from the 80s & 90s.. Good night out last Friday at the end of the month..👍🏾
C. C.
Very nice place - nice staff and interesting decor. Prices about average for the area and a good selection of drinks. Main thing is it was ideal for a catch-up with mates, no annoying TV or loud music.
M. M.
Pretty sweet place to drop in for some cocktails or even a few beers. It's an atmospheric vibe and the staff are friendly.
N. B.
Great beers on tap and in bottle at this kooky pub. Really good food, well worth a visit.
B. B.
Best place for a Sunday Roast - not just the food, but the staff were great and very accomodating.

The Hand Of Glory Has A Very Good Atmosphere, Is Very Clean, Has Very Good Quality Customer Service, - & - Is Very Well Worthy Of A 5.0-Star's Rating Indeed Too, As Well!!.

(Translated) Nice pub with good beers. Ideal for sunny days for outdoor drinking. The strategic location at the corner of Amhurst Road allows for comfortable wooden tables in an area where you hardly expect to find open space. Ideal for those who live local.
(Original)

(Translated) The place is very rustic and cozy, wooden separators, old wood flooring ... faded wood tables, usually a pleasant atmosphere. And cozy With background music and background music. The atmosphere that is breathed is a lot of neighborhood, people who know each other, friends, families who come to enjoy themselves together for a while. The service is kind and friendly and the price is correct. A good place for both dinner and snacks in the bar.

El local és molt rústic i acollidor, separadors de fusta, terra de fusta vella...taules de fusta descolorida, en general un ambient agradable. I acollidor.
