Reviews of Heathcote & Star
N. M.
Honestly, I cannot speak any more highly of this pub. We rented out the upstairs and the staff have been amazing, so helpful and cooperative. The hired room itself was big, classy, beautifully decorated and had a great bar area. Shout out to Bradley for being so helpful and approachable and for Nelly who single handedly ran the bar upstairs for us with a smile.
M. Z.
Nice looking pub, with friendly staff in a quiet part of London, near Leytonstone station, and the best Thai Chips I ever had.
The burger was, unfortunately, a little bit burned, but still tasty enough.
J. W.
Lovely pub with huge amount of space throughout. Private side room which can be hired for events. Roast dinners are incredible! Ping pong tables at the back of the pub and generous outside seating.
K. S.
Very good Thai food!
Social distancing is well observed. Outdoor heating is in place too!
We didn't pre book being a Monday. There were several free tables available in the evening!
Everyone was happy to be there!
J. B.
Our compliments to Tara and staff for hosting our Pensioners Christmas party this year. The meal was excellent and enjoyed by all. There is also a pensioners meeting on the 2nd Monday in the month. Tea/coffee sandwiches etc are supplied by The Heathcote and it’s nice to just chat and make new friends . Just come along no need to book. We cannot thank Tara enough for giving us this opportunity to have a afternoon out.

I was asked to DJ at this gorgeous pub . Really impressed. Gorgeous decor and very friendly staff. Fab function room. 👌
I. D.
Could be such a nice pub. Staff were really friendly and it’s a great space. Sadly it felt like a crèche. Nutter kids charging around on the loose everywhere.
J. T.
It's been many years since I was last here and it's changed quite a bit. The main bar is still in place with a sectioned off room/area that appears to be for private functions, perhaps for parties or hire. There is seating throughout and a larger seating area with a couple of pool tables round to the left of the bar. Lots of seating in the garden area with coverings and another bar which looked to be used at special times, I'm guessing in the summer. The staff were very friendly and the prices were not the cheapest but reasonable. The drinks on tap were not your run of the mill selection so was nice to try something new. I only popped in for one as I was passing and this was during the day so it wasn't very busy. I have no idea what it's like at night there as its been many years but it was always a busy place with a good atmosphere. If I'm passing again, I'll stop in.
J. O.
Sunday roast on Mothers Day was AMAZING! Roast lamb with optional favourite sides of crispy potatoes roasted in duck fat and cauliflower cheese. So full after the huge main vourse we had yo skip dessert. Memorable food and fantastic customer service in relaxed friendly atmosphere. Can't fault this big friendly busy pub restaurant managed by Tara and her hardworking team.
M. S.
Beautiful pub! Really cool athletic! Staff were super attentive and friendly. Great range of drinks and food. Will go back there in the near future and recommend to friends.
P. C.
Great employees
Great food - I had the chicken an leek pie. My one sister had fish and chips the other had the burger. All were great
Awesome local.
Will visit again.

The decor after the refurbishments, perfect! So cosy even thought the pub is quite huge, amazing garden area for summer hang outs, great drinks and even better food.
L. M.
Great local east end pub. Sports, pub garden, function area, cosmically painted walls and ceiling. Would be 5 stars if they served a bigger selection of beers.
R. R.
The big room out the back is great with pool tables and huge screen. Food was lovely and good service!
R. S.
Moderately priced drinks, and nicer food selection than most pubs.
The god awful app you're supposed to order on now is why I'm giving 3 stars... made ordering so much more difficult than it needed to be, and some people couldn't get it working at all.
This is a dog friendly pub, and there were many dogs in the pub when we visited.
C. M.
Quiet on a Friday evening. Young families and dogs are welcome. Reasonable garden. Drinks prices neither cheap or extortionate. Worth a visit.
T. H.
Lovely local pub! Amazing outside garden area where I had lunch with the misses. Food is great and staff is always friendly!
N. B.
Nice atmospheric pub. Friendly staff. Really bad menu for vegetarians.
J. K.
Lovely pub with nice sheltered outdoor area with room for prams. Highly recommend. My only criticism was that having to download an app to order was fiddly and time-consuming, I feel it could be made simpler.
M. F.
Enjoyed a lovely night with my friends here last night and who made it that bit extra is their employee Fabio. He was very attentive, pleasant manner and lovely friendly guy. First time visiting the place but will definitely return again.
K. L.
Great staff, food and the garden is fab. Sunday is nice for families and they show big matches too. The pink room is a great private hire space. Favourite pub in Leytonstone.
J. U. H.
Recently reopened after fully refurbishment. Very friendly staff, quality food and full of life.
S. E.
Lovely venue the customers are great so you know the vibes inside are great good staff great security team also
m. c.
Good atmosphere, pleasant staff, nice ales. Food menu adequate but limited.
S. B.
Nice local pub. Well set up to follow the guidelines. The garden is pretty big and is covered so good for the unpredictable great British summer. Prices are pretty average for East London. Staff are friendly and service is fast.
T. K.
Great pub and fantastic setup during COVID. We’re local and visit regularly, although we’ve not been in as much since they changed their food menu. We used to love the burgers (the chairman 🤤) and wings, but it’s now all Thai based and no where near as good - the wings had far too much fish sauce and the chicken burger was very bland. Hopefully they bring back some of the old classics. Aside from the food the drink selection is great.
A. D.
Great function room for a 1st birthday party. Friendly, efficient staff. Delicious Sunday roast dinner at a reasonable price.
K. B.
I came to the heathcote on Wednesday with friends and honestly the service is unbeatable, very polite, attentive and caring. The weather was awful and they quickly moved us to a nicer more covered table, fixed a mistake with our drinks very quickly and overall made the visit so much more enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area, the garden is adorable.
G. C.
I wasn't sure what to expect but this is so trendy. I love the star ceiling and the cool vibe. Everyone was so lovely and accommodating. The food was wonderful.
P. k.
The was great. I had the chicken Kebab and fries with beer sauce. And you can't leave without trying the Pornstar Martini.
P. R.
Good selection of beer. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space and seating. Quite expensive.
M. s.
I booked a table for four to take advantage of the eat out help out Scheme and to support local businesses. Having eaten and cooked Thai food for 30 years makes me a lover of Thai Cousine. Unfortunately what I got at the pub was nothing remotely Thai tasting. I had the Som Tam and the drunken noodles both vegetarian options and both I considered unauthentic Thai food. I need to say that I spoke to the bar staff and Tim sent the noodles back for me with my plea to only put a fraction of salt. Unfortunately I got exactly the same salty tasting food back and I simply could not eat the drunken noodles as they were too salty It was impossible to eat them even after sending them back.
On the positive I really like the Heathcote and Star as the staff are all super kind and friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. There is also a wonderful pub garden. If it the staff was eatable I would give 5 stars. Lovely place I recommend but not to eat!
A. W.
Loved visiting the pub last night, the garden is covered and warm. Can't wait to be able to sit inside the decor is really cute. The woman who hosted us was so nice as well!
S. S.
Big, friendly, local pub with a large beer garden, great beer and a fun atmosphere. Also has a big screen to watch sport on in the back.
J. D.
I like the garden. Good selection of beers. The Thai food is great but I wish the menu were a bit more extensive. Alcohol free lager on draft is a nice addition. Sometimes gets a bit full of noisy kids.
a. b.
Enjoyed my visit at the new local, staff was friendly (special thanks to Mark), quick service and some decent beer on draught. Food looked delicious, will give a try next time. :)
A. A.
Best pub in the area with great garden. Very nice menu and probably the best Sunday roast in town.
A. D.
Great pub with fantastic decor and friendly staff. Have found my new local. Can't wait until the pool tables are back up and running.
g. f.
Lovely place, great atmosphere, professional staff, fantastic music
R. V.
I was ever so impressed with the decor of this pub, the layout of some tables which were reserved. Beautiful bar display!! Great customer service from all staff available. There was also an area for an event, it was well arranged and prepared for the booking. Very reasonable priced drinks and great value for money. Totally recommend this place for drinks after work, catch ups with friends or some nice dinner.
L. R.
Great New Year's Eve atmosphere!!! Will definitely go back.
A. C.
Great atmosphere, good drinks selection, delicious (vegan) thai fries! The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to accomodate us when our booking time ran out 🍻
E. D.
Staff are nice, plenty of seating and good atmosphere, but tried to book a table through the site- heard nothing back and when I called was told it wasn't being used to book tables. Something to indicate that/turning off that option would be good.
T. J.
Fantastic Sunday dinner. Thoroughly recommended.
S.
We went to the Heathcote & Star for my Birthday lunch, for the Sunday Roast, and the beef melted in my mouth, it was succulent, excellent, resplendent,
and Sueperb.
I would highly recommend the Heathcote & Star to my friends and family.
The staff were friendly and attentive and I will definitely be back next time I visit my daughter.
Sue 😀

A regular visitor here for the pool table and local vibe. The burgers here are fantastic, perfectly cooked and done with some tasty sides. Free pool on Sundays also a great attraction, although in need of updating in terms of cues and cloth. Otherwise a fantastic local pub
C. C.
Had a Sunday Roast. Nice enough stuffed porchetta, but if you are vegetarian perhaps this is not the right place. The boiled (soft) cauliflour 'steak' was the only available choice, one perhaps more suitable for a nursery lunch than a Sunday roast. Not cheap either.
D. K.
Great pub, with dining, garden and a big screen/table tennis & pool table area. Food is good quality burger and sticky fingers fare, with a few other large plate options. The pub strikes a nice balance for all considering sports is viewable from most angles inside. This probably because of the large garden space and family friendly vibe.
E. M.
Lovely pub. Pushchairs, kids and dogs welcome. Roomy with lots of tables and chairs. Great, but simple food menu offering a vegan burger, GF buns and truffle chips (a very generous portion). Lively atmosphere and lovely bar staff. Whiskey and gin hot toddies on special at the moment.
K. D.
Now the pub is in new hands its great. Its a big place a couple of pool tables and ping pong tables. Top notch burgers and gorgeous beef dripping fries. A nicely mixed crowd ,young couples with very young children and people with their dogs. Its great that you can bring your dog in. A couple of days a week there are promotions, so if you get a card ( no cost or hassle involved) you get things like 20% of drinks on a Wednesday or 2 burgers for £12 on a Monday. Do check it out great music and nice relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff.
C. M.
This place is an excellent drinking establishment to while away some time! Pool tables, table tennis and if you're lucky and there at the right time there is even Kareoke (lots of fun). In the summer the large beer garden must be fantastic too! Recommended 👍
A. Z.
Lovely food for sure and great vibes! Drinks are a little slow to come out, so order before you think you'll need one
J. C.
Great pub that's known for its pool tables, ping pong tables and garden.
However the toilets are done of the worst I've seen for a long time (think pee all over the ground and no soap, hot water or means to dry your hands).
Furthermore, when we decided to play pool we were given two pool queues, one was unusable as it had a brand new tip that had not been sanded/smoothed - and when we asked for chalk it took them about 10 mins to find the chalk.
On a positive note, the food was excellent. Great burger, and good wings.
F. N.
Nice Sunday roast with family, however chicken was undercooked (raw around the bone).
But still had a good time.
Nice neighborhood place 👍
A. B.
such a nice pub, brilliant staff, actually good reasonable prices compared to London standard. We all love coming here!
Also they have the odd disco on Saturday nights. me and my friends went to one called Midnight Mass and had a wonderful time! would recommend :)
J. M.
Great service, food and drink.Lovely outside space.
F. C.
Really nice pub, good atmosphere, spacious and plenty of places to sit during the day. Burgers were delicious, best pub food I have had. Will defo be back and would love to try the roast on Sunday.
R. O.
Great local pub. The outdoor area is well set up for post lockdown drinks and covered so you're ok even in traditional British summer weather
i. p.
Great space (well set up for Covid and aesthetically lovely), really helpful and friendly staff, and good food. Even a bowl of chips there is delicious.
J. W.
We hired the back room for a 30th birthday party and had a fantastic night. The staff are all brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking for somewhere to have a private party I would strongly recommend Heathcote & Star. The food is also excellent
F. S.
Nicely refurbished Gastropub with a fantastic back garden and a huge screen for big (mostly sporting) events. Good selection of beers and the very tasty food. Bar staff are a bit nonchalant but the waiters and waitresses were really friendly and helpful.
S. W.
Loved it. Great vibe, great food and the service was good too. Will definitely go back to try the Sunday Roast.
L. H.
Lovingly refurbished pub, back to former glory. Three different rooms each with its own vibe. Main room can get a bit overrun with kids, during the day - very popular with local families. Garden looks like it will be nice in the summer. Food was all quite samey but really delicious - dirty burgers mainly.
M. K.
First visit today and was not disappointed. The burgers were great, the fries with truffle tasted fantastic washed down with some cracking craft ale. Loved the window seats, very comfy and cosy lighting too. On a Friday night as well!
J. B.
I'm a fan of the new Heathcote & Star. As the latest opening from the Electric Star group it pushes the group's pubs aesthetic. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the cosiest but it's a well designed and attractive venue.
It's a pub divided into different areas - a large games room with outdoor garden and bar (that we haven't experienced yet as it hasn't been open through a summer yet!), a main pub section and other room which would serve well for a private function.
The beer selection is solid and the food catered by We Serve Humans definitely hits the spot if you're looking for a dirty burger (worth trying their fries with beer cheese!).
I've heard people complain about lack of seating which I can understand when it's busy but I haven't had problems myself.
Definitely worth a visit.
T. H.
Food was served very promptly, their truffle fries were really good, salty, crunchy, really aromatic.. I had their standard burger which taste wise was really spot on but I feel the meat wasn't rested long enough and the burger broke apart and was quite wet with juices.
Pub atmosphere is quite quiet and bright but I imagine at a weekend it's more lively. It's just not cosy enough
J. L.
A great addition to the Grove Green Road side of Leytonstone. Whenever we’ve been at the weekend this has felt like a proper party pub, with loud music, large groups and everyone having fun. There’s a huge games room at the back with an amazing ceiling painted with constellations. Good range of beer and food to boot.
S. N.
Live music lovely bar staff
T. C.
Fantastic new refurbishment of a local public icon. So pleased this pub has been brought into the modern age with tasteful classic decor and a great new menu serving quality food and drinks at reasonable prices. Heaps of space, games and a massive outdoor area. Warm and welcoming for the winter months too!
L. A. d. P.
I can't count how many times I've come here for a Sunday roast. It is so good. The veggie roast isn't bad, not my fav though. Love the crackling that comes with the pork belly roast, amazing. The bar staff seem to change every time which seems a bit odd, and drinks service isn't always the quickest. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Doggos are welcome and it's a great vibe. They've also got an outdoor garden that is so full on summer days people are happy to just sit on the grass in the sun. Would recommend
P. L.
It's seems to be a very nice pub so far. Its only been open for 2 weeks, so will hold off a 5* till its been going for a bit longer. But the food it fantastic. Had the chilli and also tried the beer cheese chips.........both top notch. There are 2 pool tables and also 2 table tennis tables for a spot of bar games. Will be back for more in a couple if weeks to see how it's going.
W. D.
Great pub with DJ on weekends as well as security who are firm but fair. There is a huge drinks options as well as cocktail. They do food which is good and have a table service. This pub is huge it has a separate function room which can be private hired. The pub area is big and there is a games room out the back with pool tables and table tennis along with other games. Further out is a massive beer garden with chairs and tables. Some are under cover with heaters.
J. B.
Amazing Sunday roasts! Very busy but managed to get the food out quickly. Good atmosphere for everyone from families with young kids, serious ale fanatics to Shoreditch trendies playing pool.
D. G.
Lovely big boozer. Surprise, surprise, one that has not one, but two pool tables. Great to see people actually playing on them too. Nice pint, plenty of helpful staff. Great mix of people again. Leyton is definitely worth a leisurely pub crawl and this one should be on the list. Quick jump on the bus and Leytonstone station was reached.
A. M.
Great pub.
Cosy main bar area with separate sports area playing all the football on big screen, pool tables, ping pong tables
Tasty bar menu and super Sunday lunch
It even has a massive beer garden for the summer.
R. B. A.
Lovely atmosphere, lots of space, good crowd
P. A.
Great Sunday roast and the Thai residency is delicious. Some really good value midweek offers and a fantastic selection of beers.
A. A.
Good place to meet friends. Music was loud once inside but staff was friendly enough to put down due to having baby with us.
J. G.
Beautifully furnished very large pub. But...nowhere to sit! Absolutely rammed on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm. Pretty much every table in the main bar had reserved signs on them and the staff wouldn't let us sit there even though one was reserved from 7.30pm!
The other main problem - WAY too many young kids. I mean it was actually like a creche in there with kids on every other table and running around - no place for this in a pub!
Finally, the lager selection leaves much to be desired! Just Camden Hells and Becks Vier on tap - really guys?! The saving grace is the amazingly tasty burgers, the same as you get in Leyton Star. Overall I wouldn't rush back, but the building, decor and garden are amazing. Good luck getting a seat amongst all those kids!!
L. L.
Lovely atmosphere. Great place for families. Dogs are allowed too.
G. H.
Recently reopened or 'gentrified' pub that was saved from the hands of the property developers. Inside it's cavernous with 3 separate areas, the main bar, a smaller bar that is available to hire and a games room - pool tables and table tennis.
It's been nicely redeveloped throughout, but rather dimly lit in the main bar. My one criticism would be the beer - there's enough choice, but too many 'fizzy' American beers and not enough variety of the hand drawn English variety. Early days, definitely a work in progress.
N. C.
Huge local pub. Great Covid precautions going on. Large rear garden. Eclectic decor and nice staff. Cant really go wrong with the H&S.
l. E.
Lovely beer, friendly staff. 👌 Highly recommended
J. V. D. B.
Brilliantly massive venue.. Inside, outside and private seating are. Good range of drinks and food. Games and general classy feel.. Nice place to have a good time.
T. T.
Great indoor and outdoor seating, nice canopy protecting you from the elements and has a solid selection of drinks on draft
L. C.
It's had a refurb since my last review and what a refurb! It's great inside and out. They have finally improved their vegetarian offering. Still, as with all the 'Star' venues, the beer selection is not up to craft ale pub standards unfortunately.
S. J.
Good food, really nice atmosphere pool table and table tennis. Good mix of people young to old and dog friendly. Lovely beer garden suitable for families.
K. C.
Fantastic pub has so much to offer Great entertainment, good food nice bar staff and a games room to chill out in. Sam the bartender done a great job was like our personal host. A must visit place 😀
R. S.
Excellent refurb. Good selection of beer and great bar food from the we serve humans. However, does often get over run by stampeding hordes of kids who seem to run freely without any real respect for manners or decorum.
S. W.
Celebrated my 40th birthday party at The Heathcote and Star...what an amazing place! Tara and her team were amazing! They really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble for them. Nathan our private bar man was brilliant too! Thanks guys for a great night!!! Keep up the good work! X
O. T.
Only popped in for a couple of pints. But the pub was busy. Had a great atmosphere. A nice fireplace on the go. Will visit again! See explore the beer range in more depth.
T. W.
Solid refurbishment, great burgers, nice mix of people and good selection of drinks on tap. The garden will be awesome come summer. Leytonstone has definitely improved a lot over the last 5 years or so.
R. A.
Friendly service, nice atmosphere, tasty food and pool tables!!
M. C.
Amazing pub in Leytonstone, great beer and wine selection, very good roast and amaaazing
fries! try them with the beer cheese sauce! Beautifully decorated and one of the best beer garden ever. Highly recommended.
k. “. k. b.
Great venue but mediocre beer selection. Sunday roast is good but the rest of the menu is so so. They claim to do the best buffalo wings but no just vinegar wings.
D. P.
Great, fun, friendly pub.
Happy to have it as our local.
Although I do hope that they get more choices of Cask Real Ale beers, on the same rotation as the Leyton Star.
Always good to have changing beers!
Staff are also really sound.
J. T.
Very nice place with a variety of ales on tap. Tried a berry cider which was also on tap which was nice. Played pool and the table is on a slope so difficult to play although for 5 pounds an hour it's a good price.
T. B.
There was a long, bitter battle to wrest this venue from the hands of a cynical developer, but it was worth it in the end. Gone is the tired-looking, 90s lager boozer of a few years back, to be replaced by an excellently refurbished, classy pub with a spacious beer garden (always a bonus in London).
A good selection of beers, DJs at the weekend, a well appointed games room, and - most importantly - a real lively buzz, makes this a real destination pub in this corner of Leytonstone, and a great place to while away a few hours in the evening.
It’s my new local, and I’m so pleased.
Ps: I haven’t tried it (yet) but the grub looks decent too!
H. X.
Better. Not so many kids.
M. W.
Good neighbourhood pub, serious pushchair warrior hangout on a weekend. Beers could be slightly better but definitely adequate selection.
M. P.
Very nice friendly pub
N. F.
This was my first visit to the newly reopened Heathcote & Star. My local for many years, the pub had been closed for a while, and given the number of pubs that have closed for good in the last few years, I feared the worst.
Imagine my happiness when, on a rare trip to my local (insert name of supermarket) I saw light from the windows and a very nice smell tickled my nostrils. It was a chilly evening, so I rapidly revised my plans and parked the bike, locking it to the pub sign.
Memo to the council - if you are going to install mini Holland infrastructure, please remember to replace the bike racks you removed when you closed the junction to motor vehicles. Ta
OK, so the bar is inflicted with that major first-world problem, loud piped music, and the barmaid was unaware of the names of the beers on draught, but I got - eventually - a perfectly good pint of one of my favourites, ELB Jamboree.
I was tempted by the Dareman, their signature burger spiced up with jalapeños, and very good it was too. The chips were even better, being freshly made and in a generous portion. If I didn't spend a lot of every day in the saddle, I might have struggled to finish my meal, so portions are generous, believe me.
I look forward to trying the Sunday menu, where I am assured that I can get a proper roast dinner.
Watch this space for my review
J. H.
The latest addition to the 'Star' chain of East London pubs, and probably my favourite, largely due to the quality of their Sunday Roast (in particular the standard of their gravy). Although the menu is limited to mainly burgers and wings during the week their are more options here than many of the other We Serve Humans menus in their sister pubs. Spacious and designed to combine the original East London pub style with the modern East London aesthetic it is a great spot for a rainy day, a big sporting event or summer evening spent in the large beer garden.
As a non-parent the one down-side for me is that this pub more than many in the nearby area can become a hotspot for people with small children (largely due to the amount of space I imagine) - so be prepared for your Saturday afternoon pint to be with a side serving of toddler, but if this doesn't bother you (or your the own of said toddler) definitely pop in for a drink and the Buffhelo Wings.
s. s.
A great pub, good food and menu, nice space bet STINKS of truffle oil used in the menu. Literally all night, truffle oil up your nose. Pretty sure I'm gonna have to get my self dry cleaned
C. B. (. L.
Nice family orientated pub since new owners and refurbishment. Visited on a Sunday so busy with roast dinner trade (great lunch) and familys with very young children.
E. L.
Great pub, good food, nice staff and a good atmosphere. Kid friendly especoaly in the summer the harfen is a good space to eat and give the kids a little space. Pool tables & a big screen.
A. S.
Great local pub! Food is incredible and reasonably priced (especially the Sunday roast) - choice of beer/ale is good and is rotated regularly.
Highly recommend!!
M. B.
More than sufficient seating though the atmosphere is rather staid - could do with more character, it kind of lacks that distinctive grubby past and worn in furniture feel. The music is overpowering in volume in too many parts but at least they have a garden space too. Very closer to 2 tube stations and an overland station.
I. C.
Super fun Tuesday! amazing venue and great atmosphere
F. A.
Fab pub. Friendly staff, great food and really nice atmosphere. Family friendly, people friendly and dog friendly. Highly recommend. Best roasts in east London
C. M.
Very nice place. Lovely atmosphere. The garden is amazing. You can play games and the burger are..... From another world! Super yummy. Shame it is too far from the centre!
L. T.
Such an unexpected find! Lovely beer garden with so many lovely plants, friendly staff, spacious and interesting inside. Wine on the disappointing side hence 4* and not 5...
P. W.
Hmm, pub is fantastic place with free pool and table tennis... haven't had the roast dinner yet as they have suspended it from the Sunday menu for summer.... alternative food menu is inventive but doesn't feel like a dinner, left disappointed but will be back for Sunday roast...
a. p.
Great local pub: good food and beer, lovely staff, fantastic beer garden. Also has a large games room with pool and ping pong. Very popular with families.
K. S.
Came here for Saturday night drinks and ended up havng the Fat Chairman burger as I didn't have dinner - OH MY WORD, I think this might be the best burger I've ever had and I've had burger's from all over California.
It came perfectly cooked, medium rare, crispy bun (not soggy at all!) and most importanlty - utterly juicy.
I'm salivating thinking about it now, I'm going back for this burger alone!
S. D.
It has been completely renovated and looks so lovely now. They have darts and a pool table which is fun. There is a great selection of food and drinks and in general there is a nice atmosphere. I would come back here for sure x
C. D.
Went for NYE and had a great time. The bar staff were all really slick and very friendly. If they can do that well on NYE I am sure it is great all year round.
G. P.
Is my local pub. And very pleased! Only thing they could improve might be the menu, as now is a bit fatty and it would be great if they had one dish healthier🙃....
A. S.
Fantastic night , great food. Service by the lovely wee N/I girl.. think her name was Victoria... sorry if it ain't... fabulous vibes... definitely be going back..on the plus side hubby and his friends played pool and left us girlfriends to catch up...5* all the way
a. L.
One of the best roasts in London, hands down. Nice boozer, dog friendly, pool tables. Really friendly. Can't go wrong.
A. M.
The old Heathcote Arms has been screaming out for a facelift and revamp and THIS is it. Potential has been well and truly met. Almost like 4 venues in one. Great decor, Great selection of drinks and not to mention We Serve Humans food menu. The destination pub Leytonstone has been looking for
M. H.
I'm from up north but lived down in leytonstone a good 12/13 years ago I work here when it was the heathcote arms I lived next door in the house that backed on to the beer garden can believe how much its change. Still hope the two Gary's (cant remember there last names) always had a great time when they were in hope they still go in there if they do please let them no ill be down for a little visit at some point
A. B.
Great atmosphere, excellent staff and an asset to the local area. Massive beer garden for the winter and Sunday roasts for the winter. Cocktails, spritz, guest ales and DJs on Friday/Saturday.
C. E.
Great local pub! Excellent refurb and a real turnaround from the previous place. A bit pricey and the same round seems to vary greatly in price depending on who serves you.
C. R.
Amazing Sunday Roast cooked by Chef Fabienne. The Yorkshires are HUGE! Family friendly, superb children's roast. Great atmosphere. What an asset to the community.
S. M.
Nice local pub with pool tables, table tennis, a big garden with its own bar. Family friendly, welcoming staff, good food and usually some good real ales.
E. S.
We love this place and go there quite regularly but were really disappointed when we went there on Friday, early evening, and they'd run out of fish. 🙁 We went especially to try the fish and chips as we'd only noticed it on the menu the Sunday before.
N. S.
Really nice pub! The Sunday Roast was amazing and great portion for the value! It was super busy on Sunday, but it was very nice. Can’t wait to go back!
C. N.
Lovely pub - family and dog friendly, delicious food (esp the chicken wings) and they have a great set up for private parties with a v reasonable minimum spend.
m. c.
Pretty much the best pub in East London. The food is next level good. Great beers and friendly staff. Can I move in? X
B. B.
This has everything you could want from a pub: Ales, lagers, wines, table tennis, pool, beer garden with heating.
Clean lines, good food.
Great new place and amazing local boozer. Love it.
S. C.
Very pleasant (& comfy!) pub! Large garden. Good choice of tap beers etc & non alcholic beers....only rather more expensive than other pubs in the area!!
A. L.
We have found our new local, perfect roast, great atmosphere, pool tables, karaoke and lots of events happening. Love this place!
K. B.
Cheap drinks, private room for special events and the bar team are very polite. Would definitely come back for some pub food.
G. N.
Lovely pub, watched the football on the big screen, had the chicken kebab which was lovely. Will definitely visit again, the guy Ben who I think manages the pub was lovely.
B. A.
Nicely reimagined, shame about the dreary music selection. I did go in on an afternoon, for a few games of pool, and it was a pleasant experience marred only by a compilation of the most depressing 90's indie tracks possible! Can't comment on the evening vibe though.
L. M.
Great beer. Too pricey for me to go more than once a month.
H. L.
Nice selection of beers, friendly atmosphere (although have to agree with the review about the often abundance of children!) the food is delicious, order the chuck and shoulder chili, it's amazing!
C. P.
Good food i had spare ribs whuch wasreally good value at £8. Decor and furniture trendy tacky creates a good atmosphere. Good selection do beers,
N. S.
Lovely pub to drink in a mix of people who are always friendly
J. S.
Super gastro pub with a trendy and refreshing atmosphere. Love the Ping-Pong tables and outdoor area. Sunday menu not to be missed!
L. R.
Went for the first time and loved it! Watched footie, ate some real good burgers, mac'n'cheese and truffle fries, the boys played pool so yeah, will surely be going back
M. A.
Good atmosphere. Easy listening background music. Drinks & food was pricey for Leytonstone though. £17 bottle of house rose wine. House burger £10 & chips etc was extra.
d. o. t. m. h.
Amazing place. Went last week Friday for the first time and I loved the ambience of pub.
g. k.
A place with so much potential but an unwillingness to harness it. Set up to cater for the bald middle aged man with his pint of Stella when the size is ideal for families and events. Sadly still stuck in another era.
D.
Fantastic pub, great outdoor space and good atmosphere
d.
Nice place but way over priced. Burger and chips nearly £15 and a alcoholic ginger beer and a single Brandy nearly a tenner. A one off for me at those prices.
L. H.
Great location, clean and large space with very fast staff. Underrated gem.
S. S.
Very nice pub with large heated garden, frienly staff, kids velcome ,sport screen, pool, table tennis.
J. M.
Great atmosphere. Even better food. Best beers around.
Shows all live sports and has regular events.
J. H. (.
Great local public that good a lot of offers in the week. Recommend signing up to their loyalty card, get emails with special offers and even occasional free drink!
J. B.
Great atmosphere and perfect for watching live sport. Book a table in advance to avoid missing out.
D. C.
Made more trendy. Garden is still great, pool tables still there, with the addition of better beer and food. Men's toilets smell damp.
D. H.
The Sunday Roast was superb even though there was a backlog due to a massive order. My only criticism would be they should shrink the games room for some more restaurant!
R. D. S.
Nice family pub, great food, friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere. Will definitely come back.
k. p.
Stopped in the old spot room, very musty and damp smelling! particularly in the bathroom which is in need of a complete refurbishment.
Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly.
Overall in need of a complete refurbishment.
C. L.
Wonderful pub with amazing burgers! Nice big beer garden, very kid friendly.
M. R.
Lovely pub, excellent beers. Sunday roasts look great, will be trying them very soon
A. M.
It is a pub. It is what you expect. Could do with better lighting. Staff seem to be very busy with very few people in the pub. Had to wait some time to be served.
Could be better. Sorry.
F. D.
Trendy pub, Great for dinning out with friends and family. Staff friendly. Attracts outsiders not much local pub no more.
A. A.
Nice pub, fab food and cocktails available here. Can be a bit of a wait for service during busy times.
E. O.
Lovely pub. Food looked good but I didn't eat. Ping pong and pool. Dog friendly
L. A.
Family friendly pub, serving food and a nice buzzy atmosphere. Let down by food being served cold that gravy with the roast had almost congealed
A. S.
A really valuable community space, Sunday lunch was perfect!
L. H.
Sunday roast is excellent 😋 but be warned; you need a big appetite to manage it ... Or you could share it with your favorite person 😉
K. G.
The app for food stopped working like 8.15pm . ..and they closed kitchen 9pm without any compromise ...they could not handle a busy week day....so disappointed...
T. A.
Amazing Sunday roast menu. Busy place but lovely staff! Good vibes all round 😁
A. M.
Popped in for a bit of lunch today, hands down best pub grub I’ve had in ages! Will definitely be back. 👍👍

R. B.
Great venue. Drinks a bit pricey, but they have some good night's here.

Nice to have a place like this locally instead of having to head to far into london. Good music and vibe, emptied out a little early though
J. t.
Lovely pub, shame the music is so loud though especially in the pool table room.

Good Sunday roasts, lovely staff.
l. n.
Lovely pub with great food. Will have to come back when the coffee machine has arrived!
J. H.
The latest addition to the 'Star' chain of East London pubs, and probably my favourite, largely due to the quality of their Sunday Roast (in particular the standard of their gravy). Although the menu is limited to mainly burgers and wings …
I. K.
Nice place, modern yet family friendly. Good food and drinks but it is very cold.
N. G.
Best chicken wings in London and it's great that they've also got a table tennis & pool table.
B. A.
