Reviews of Hoop & Toy
M. P.
15/02 we arrived to a heaving pub filled to the brim with half-term families. There was a lovely Trio serving the thirsty and hungry lot. Great food. Excellent prices and what very kind and friendly staff. Thank you for the perfectly poured gin. It was needed by this exhausted mummy. Fantastic service from the lovely Trio working xx
M. N.
Lovely little pub to enjoy a drink in. Staff were nice and friendly and although we didn't order any food this time (because I'm definitely going back) the plates they were bringing out to tables looked amazing. Has a great old English public house look and I found the wall decor amusing
C. T.
Really wish we'd allowed ourselves more time at this lovely pub. Loads of tables, nice decor and wasn't too busy at 12-30 on a Sunday. Think their kitchen might have been opening late though which might have explained that. Very handy for a post museum sit down and drink
S.
Nice Greene King pub in South Kensington. We only came in for drinks but staff were friendly. Prices are reasonable considering the prime location too.
I gave this 3 stars because the tables were dirty with spilled drink even though the pub wasn't busy. We had to clean the table ourselves. The barman got our order for the drinks wrong. The first time we told him and he went away to fix the order. When we finally got our drinks one of them was still wrong. We decided not to complain as it would have spoiled our visit.
R. C.
Have frequented this pub for several years with work colleagues and friends. It's rough around the edges (the toilets need some TLC) but over all it's a great place for an after work drink or catch up with friends. Bar staff are always friendly and greet everyone with a smile. One of my favourite London boozers.
I. D.
Very pleasant little pub round from the station. Had a few pints safely, with nice selection of nibbles because we forgot the kitchen closed at 9pm. Beer selection is good for ales n lagers. Didn't try anything else but many menu options we did want to try. Will likely return.
A. M.
Comedy show above the pub was fab. Cocktails were very watered down with sprite or "lemonade". High review because of the atmosphere and that they let young talent put on hilarious stand up with no entrance fee.
J. J.
Great pub find off the main drag. Welcoming staff and great food and welcoming service.
K. M.
Hoop and Toy was a quaint pub with excellent food. The ladies behind the bar were very friendly and the whole meal was enjoyable, especially the hot chocolate deluxe. Side note, I saw no hoops or toys during my visit.
S. B.
Nice food, London prices not that bad, friendly staff, we arrived about 1130am and started ti fill up after 12.
a.
Nice place. Good was awful. Half roast chicken was definitely not fresh on the day. It was rubbery, bland and skin looked cold and clammy. Rosemary salted chips were plain.
A. J.
The Hoop & Toy pub has a very comfortable, oldstyle, pub-like style. Especially for lunchtime it is very crowded. The barkeeper takes your order and even mixes special drinks for you quickly. Even though we were told that the food would need 45 minutes, it came after 20. It was warm and clearly fresh, homemade.
Thank you for this wonderful pub experience!
F. D.
What a warm welcome we received from the pub staff when we arrived for lunch. We were very pleased with our drinks, the beer was in good condition and my white wine spritzer was served exactly how I like it. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly go again. An added boost for me was that they were showing Wimbledon on the big screen!
C. T.
Such a friendly atmosphere, we really enjoyed our time in your pub, great location and vibe, the manager she was such a lovely person, tasty Aperols and really nice music and staff! Job done Definitely coming back over the weekend
K. K.
Nice pub great food , big choice of drinks, handy for museums
V. N.
Very rude bartender, he came screaming at us twice because he thought we were smoking indoor, when in reality the cigarette was completely off, we were just holding it while talking. We've tried to explain it to him but he wouldn't listen. He was screaming very close to my face.. unbelievable!
R. A.
Nice pub and one of only a few in the area. They were paying music but it was good as it was not too load. Prices are reasonable and judging by how busy it was it must be a popular place so would recommend it
C. S.
Aside from the time it took to order, the food was really good. I had the Lamb Shank Shepherd's pie and my girl had the pulled pork burrito. I tried the 1730 Pale ale, it was really to my taste but it wasn't bad per say. The Shepherd's Pie was wonderful though.
T. M.
Closest pub to Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington. A Greene King pub, so don't expect any real ale miracles here - but keep in mind that pubs are few and far between in this residential area; the nearest one is the Zetland Arms, also a Greene King pub, but a bit more atmosphere there. Standard national and international lagers, and Punk IPA. Nice staff, decor has seen better days. Gents loos can be filthy! Upon one of my visits the only available bowl with a seat was covered in manure - and it was still covered in manure three hours later! You can take your drinks outside for a smoke/vape. Very busy in the evening.
C. S.
On the Cask Marquee Ale Trail and the beer was up to standard, justifying the accreditation.
Waif and I reserved a table some days ago intending to have a quiet meal before going to the Royal Albert Hall - big mistake. The final of the England NZ cricket match was showing on half a dozen screens - the place was bedlam.
We'd left before that games dramatic finish, but we hurried to finish our meal.
V. R.
Great place for fish & chips. The place also runs a stand-up comedy in the evening. Historic place with information on a game they played a longtime ago. We also ordered the Camembert bake... Loved it, you will do of you like cheese. Typical English pub with matching furniture and pleasant service. Must visit
D. S.
The Place itself is ok, nice service and friendly staff. Unfortunately it doesn't get much better than that. The tables are very small, and only a few that seat more than two people comfortably. The food was relatively quick to arrive. Between the four of us, we ordered the pub classics minis, the fish goujon on brown bloomer, a chicken and bacon mix on a brown bloomer, and the hunters chicken over a brown bloomer and 2 sides of chips. The food itself was very tasty, and well cooked however the issues here are portion size and price. At nearly £3 each I would expect the side order of chips would contain more than 15-20 chips. The bloomer bread was just standard sliced brown so much thinner than you'd expect. The fish goujon sandwich contained 3 small pieces leaving a lot of empty space within the sandwich. And the chicken and bacon dish was primarily rocket leaves, with a small amount of filling. As I mentioned, the food was tasty at least, we just felt it was definitely lacking the kind of quality you'd expect from a greene King establishment.
A.
Typical British pub. There is a well stocked bar on the ground floor and the first floor which is exclusively restaurant (you can still order food downstairs but the tables there are smaller). The menu is quite small but you get all the basics: bangs & mash, meat pie, fish & chips, burgers, steak etc. There is soup of the day and one vegetarian option.
There is table service upstairs - the service is lovely. My waitress was very fast and polite. I ordered fish and chips, side salad and tap water which she topped up whenever my glass was empty - rare but super appreciated! Fish and chips' portion is quite substantial. The fish was really greasy though and I was glad I ordered that salad. In overall, very nice food, freshly made and typically British.
If you want to tip you can only do so in cash - card payment hasn't got that option, unfortunately. Will definitely visit again!
a. m.
Very nice pub, staff are always friendly, will definitely visit again..
S. C.
Pleasant good selection of beer.Foid came up quickly and was tasty stuff friendly. Nice pit stop after museum's
E. M.
Great pub, nice staff and good food. Food arrived in good time and all was good quality.
L. M. (.
Nice, friendly, clean pub. Following strictly government guidelines lines. Nice food and sauvignon blanc was lovely
F. S.
Good beer, awesome food, nice location. Staff is very friendly and cares about their customers. The salt beef burger was tasty and blown my mind! Also I would recommend the fish and chips! Thanks for the nice experience, guys!
J. O.
Lovely cosy traditional pub next to South Kensington station. Quite small but service was quick at the bar. Not overly pricey for South Ken. We went there during the Halloween season and I loved the decor and the little scare expressions. Good value for money, beautiful interior, polite staff. The toilet facilities need a bit of work though.
T. T.
Great atmosphere, amazing food (the sliders are delish! ) friendly staff! Visit! You won't be disappointed!
S. W.
Lovely little pub, very friendly staff, quick service and thought the food was excellent value.
L. S.
Visited hear after the museum. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. They welcomed us immediately and made sure we were settled. The food served was sublime and of a very high quality. Congrats to the team working. We were extremely satisfied. (Visited 30 June).
D. I.
Lively atmosphere, decent quality pub food, great location.
P. N.
Busy pub, long wait to be served, not helped by staff member texting on phone, with a queue at bar. Perhaps my mask made me invisible?
R. R.
Been there a few days ago, and it was delightfull! We had some starters that were really nice and the drinks were also good. Prices are a bit high, but since it's south ken, it's understandable. Alex was really helpfull and help us decide what to choose. We will come back!
M. S.
Nice and cozy pub near the South Kensington tube station. Pub is from Greene King franchise so everything is like in other Such pubs. Howerver it's still nice please to sit and have a pint or two
m.
Very nice food and reasonably priced considering the location.
D. S.
A real gem old english pub been several times when visiting the kensington area really friendly staff good drink and food absolutely lovely
L. p.
Nice staff, reasonable prices. Serve food, though we only had lager and coffee. Outdoor standing area outside pub for smokers.
E. P.
Great food, nice environment, clean. Lovely pub.
N. S.
Good pub for a beer or quick bite after nearby museums.
A. A.
Good pub worth a visit if you fancy a drink near the station
O. W.
Very cosy with good beer, great for a drink after our trip to the Natural History Museum
I. L.
Fresh cold beer and large wide screen TV'S with multiple sports. Cool place. Cheers
A. W.
Standard green king pub, food was okay but a little cold on arrival so not fantastic.
G. C.
Traditional pub. Not very busy on early Monday evening. Friendly staff and beer nicely kept. Head on pint topped up without need to ask.
E. N.
Visited on my wheelchair, the entrance has a small step up but there is a ramp available.
Food and drink were both really nice. The service was good as well.
Would recommend in general, but as I didn't go to the loo I've no idea if they are accessible.
J. O.
Lovely.place, friendly staff. Great food and service
D. F.
Lovely find very friendly great Sunday dinners. Good prices.
J. 0.
Nice pub , staff friendly...try the fish finger sandwiches
K. K.
Good lil pub fish and chips and Mac and cheese was good!
E. P.
Nice pub and beers, the guys serving are okay and the food is average . Nothing special but okay to go in a day for a quick pint and food
S. C. A.
Nice pub, friendly staff, they have IPAs for pretentious hipsters like me
F. M.
Great place. Try the white wine. Excellent bathrooms on the first floor
A.
It is what it is. Can get very very busy which is annoying or it's quiet. Staff are very friendly though so cannot complain at all.
K. J.
The staff were very efficient and effective at ensuring social distancing. However I did find the food to be plain despite the menu descriptions and over priced. Parts of my meal were cold. And a small 330ml bottle of cola was over £3 making buying for a teens meal very costly. I am aware it's in london, however is would still have expected better quality of food/ingredients.
D. A.
Typical British pub. A decent amount of seats.
Beer selection is decent but clearly chain led. Had the football on when we were there but was still pretty chilled.
Food looked good but didn't order as didn't have time. Prices were reasonable for central London.
M. R.
Nice little pub with friendly staff.
S. F.
Decent pub food at reasonable prices. Service was a little slow when we came, and it was a little cold inside but still a nice atmosphere.
J.
Great service, very friendly staff, good selection of beers. Katsu burger was just what I needed and special mention to Rosalia for being really friendly.
T. W.
Great food great beer great atmosphere
I. C.
Amazing food and just round corner from museam and tube.
C. S.
Just had drinks lively old pub
A. L.
Decent boozer. Just around the corner from South Kensington tube station. Can't comment on the food as only had drinks here
V. P.
Very welcoming, tucked right behind the station of South Kensington, the Hoop and Toy is definitively a gem that needs to be better known!
It is definitively the perfect place to unwind with friends after a long day of work around a pint of beer and cider. Fair prices for central London, you come for the booze and stay for the ambiance !
M. D.
It was lovely to have a pint of Camden's Hell in this cozy local pub
T. K.
A very busy pub, extremely noisy. We had to wait to get seats, tables were not cleared we did that ourselves. Only one barman spoke good English, the other two found it hard to answer questions. The food, though slow in arriving was good standard pub grub. The coffee machine wasn't working, the ladies toilets were a disgrace and my drink came in a lipstick stained glass.
Y. 0.
Best pub in South ken to grab a beer with friends and have a laugh. Food is good and staff is very friendly, especially Ciprian, Rosa and Alex.
k. r.
Nice bar meal. Friendly staff. Thought it was reasonably priced for London
J. 1.
Great traditional old London pub popped in with my wife and son for a drink before and after visiting the natural history museum which is literally just around the corner.
Didn't order food as we didn't really have time but looked really nice. My wife and I tried a couple of ales which we hadn't seen before which were lovely.
Great atmosphere and staff were really welcoming even though it was pretty busy. Will definitely visit again if we're in that area.
R. W.
Not bad, quite lively on a Saturday night.
a. b.
Nice pub, good fish and chips
M. J.
Pub is close to the museums, nice and comfortable and full of beers! But obviously I recommend Guinness.
D.
It was brilliant. The burgers and fries were lovely. My dad loved his pie. My mum loved her burger. I didnt have desert but it would have probably been delicous. Defo should go. Lovely staff. Clean. Drinks are nice. Children and adults are allowed in. And the natural history museum is right next to it. Location is london, cronwell road
J. B.
Really awesome atmosphere, not a whole heap of tables unless downstairs is open. Was there on a Tuesday afternoon at about 4pm and we got the last seat. Fantastic 2 for 1 happy hour though, would thoroughly recommend for a good beer with a side of maybe standing.
G. B.
Their so called “famous fish and chips” was on the average side. A large part of the plate was made up of their “bread and butter” which I n my opinion added nothing to the meal ( if not detracted from it.). The rest of the meal was very enjoy, perhaps would have been better to order the standard fish and chips. Don’t be fooled into ordering the large.
J. M.
Great old and famous pub with good London pies as well other goodieokefish and chips
D. P.
Lovely pub and warm welcome
H. S.
Cosy pub with a good selection of drinks and an interesting decor
E.
Watched the euro cup final here. Staff are very friendly. Excellent service. Great pub!
C. W.
This was close to our vacation lodging and looked fairly busy so we stopped when we wanted to stay close to home one night. First they said they did not have the drink I wanted(a cocktail on their menu), then they said they did not have the menu item I wanted(baked potato). So I changed my drink and my food order only to see 2 baked potatoes come out of the kitchen after my order did. The food and drink I did receive was just fine and I received it in a timely fashion. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed.
B. A.
There's nothing really wrong with this pub. They don't get anything spectacularly bad or anything. The beer was okay. The service okay. It could have been tidier, but again nothing really bad. There wasn't much of a soul to the place. No real atmosphere.
I think they relied on being close to the tube and could get some people meeting up for a pint. And also the tourists going to the museums that didn't know any better.
So, if you are going to the museum and want a quick pint after there's nothing wrong with this pub, but with a bit of an effort I'm sure you can find something better.
K. H.
The service and food were excellent. The staff were attentive and courteous. The food was delicious and good value for money.
M.
Very nice pub. Near Kensington tube. Shady seats outside. More importantly staff are welcoming and friendly.
K. N.
Always amazing food, drinks and service.
T. L.
Very typical British pub ! Definitely worth trying !
P. A.
Best pub in south ken. Best service ever, Alex was the bomb!!!
D. F. (.
Proper pub in an area full of pretentious bars.
A. J.
Nice british pub
I watched the football world cup here.
The prices are moderate.
They do comedy clubs too
i. w.
Popped in here before heading to Museum to get a drink and food and catch the rugby the other day. Took the staff a while to work out how to get the audio for the TV working. On food they took our order only to come back minutes later and say 1order not in stock. Then had to ask for refund of the cost difference only to be told ideally they'd prefer to offer a drink in exchange not the money. Perhaps not the best service but it was a busy day with the rugby so maybe a reason for it.
I. D. G.
Had some great laughs here tonight! Will definitely have to go back!
E. S.
Barman helped us secure a table on a busy Saturday (Grand National), was chatty and personable, the bar staff were all helpful. Food came very quickly, generous portions and tasty. Only niggle....... the staff can't get service tips from card payments, why is that?
C. M.
Food was okay. All chips were warm and one fish was cold but they did sort all this out after it was mentioned to the wait staff. Nice atmosphere and a lovely little cellar bar. Management were brilliant solving the food issues and gave us a complimentary drink which was nice.
t. u.
I didn't get mugged or spat on. 5 star.
K. R.
Nice atmosphere. Good location for Natural History Museum, V&A etc.
J. B.
Great for a pint after the science museum 👍
E. ע. S. ש.
Seemed like a nice pub in the English tradition! Prices are predictably high, but not too high. The furniture was vintage, but on the verge of seeming worn out. There was a space upstairs for functions, and that was quite dark and small, with a really creaky floor. That seems to be the standard though. Ultimately, it was a perfectly decent place.
J. E.
Came in to get out of the rain. So did everyone else. It was packed but the real ales were great. Nice selection.
B. B.
Nice pub with toilets that haven't seen a member of staff since 2pm (despite the sheets saying they're checked every hour).
My wife and I came here for a few drinks after going to the RAH, so both got drinks and had to use the loo, but we were shocked at the state of them. The ladies had toilet paper strewn all over the place, and the gents reeked of piss.
If you get a drink here, don't bother with the toilets unless desperate.
K. M.
Great wee pub close to the museum's. Really lovely staff with a great selection of beer 🍺
C. L.
Oddly enough no barstools. Besides that it was a very nice pub. The music maybe a tad too loud though. Would recommend if a more relaxed night at the bar is being wished for at is it not directly on the main road.
T. A.
Nothing wrong with the pub but it did not stand out in any way. We waited a long time for drinks, which can happen, but doesn't help. During our weekend in London, we experienced far worse places, but others which stuck with us far more, hence the 3 stars.
M. M.
Great pub! Very traditional and cosy. Staff are friendly but every now and then you get some who are not as friendly!
Could do with a bit of tidying up but over all great pub! Good drinks and food
m. H.
Don't understand all the bad reviews, I drink here at least twice a week. The beer is usually good, the food is pretty average for pub food but it is pub food so what do people expect? yes its gets extremely busy at times, and I try to avoid those times and go somewhere out of the way that is quiet, but that means no atmosphere. Its a busy tourist pub, its right by the museums people, get a life you whinging grumpy people or go somewhere less busy, that's not rocket science is it?
D. K.
Lovely place for a drink after work. Located right next to South Kensington station, it is easily accessed via the district, circle and Piccadilly lines. Within minutes walk from the museums. Staff are absolutely amazing!!
L. T.
Had a nice vibe. Enjoyed it.
A.
Not quite sure why there are so many terrible reviews. The prices are more or less in line with pretty much any other pub you'll find in central London. There's plenty of space with the basement that you can sit in. Didn't have any food when I was there but people on the table next to us did and it actually looked really good!
T. T.
Lovely atmosphere, and the food was very good. So nice to be out again.
T. F.
Nice little pub. Staff are polite and efficient. Can get a bit crowded like most in that part of London. There is a small ledge that runs along the outside of the pub for standing you glass on which makes having a pint on a warm day quite civilised. The pub is quite close to the tube station, I often break my journey there if I feel the need for rehydration.
If you have found this helpful please hit the 'like' button.
D. M.
A decent pub near the musueums, and -compared to surrounding establishments - reasonably priced. Getting a seat at some times can be challenging due to the district's busy nature and the fact that they keep the central area mostly clear and not too overcrowded.
J. F.
Very cosy Victorian pub
M. C.
Bustling London Pub, good range of beers
A. H.
A great pub serving a good range of drinks and food.
C. P.
I'm a vegan and finding suitable food in pubs is not so easy and I was hungry after walking. But the barman was very helpful and happily accommodated my unusual order for a baked potato, no butter, with garden peas and tomato ketchup with a glass of tap water. The waiter couldn't have been kinder.
S. W.
I came for the comedy show upstairs and had a fantastic time! Definitely worth a visit. The beer was food and the place seemed to really draw a fun crowd. The comedians for the show were smaller time performers but really great show altogether
G. D.
Good beer and such but didn't try the food so can't rate that unfortunately, would be nice if it had outdoor seating. Otherwise a beautiful pub that's clean and cosy.
A. L.
good service and hubby enjoyed the footy being on lol

2018 Review:
I reviewed this place 2 years ago and it's funny how accurate it still holds. I tried the festive lamb pie this time and it was soggy and very disappointing. Like it was just taken out of the microwave and dumped on a plate. Real shame. The kitchen staff and front of house staff cannot seem to handle amending food orders. We wanted to add chips to our order 10min after we did our mains order and were told the amended addition could not come out at the same time as the rest of our food. Absolutely ridiculous!
Toilets were again blocked, 2 of the 3 urinals were over flowering. Some what enyerysining how little changes. There are much better pubs around. This place clearly survives on its locality and tourist trade. Not a good example of an English pub and probably not deserving of 3 stars.
I wonder how things will be in 2 years time!
2015 Review:
Good traditional atmospheric pub. Food ok for price, pies a little on the dry side but ok. Staff were great, good attentive service.
Only negatives, toilets were blocked and not particularly clean. Also no high chairs, yet they have a kids menu so wasn't very accommodating to the under 3s.
K. W.
Typical pub, £6.50 a beer though
A. E.
Great service and good selection of beers, thank you
P. S.
Nearest pub i could find to The Royal Albert Hall where I went to see Supertramp. Good selection of draught drinks and good simple pub food but inevitably at London prices. Popular venue for the trendy yuppie type as depicted by Del and Rodney but a good hostelry for the people watchers.
S. P.
Not a bad place. Went on a Saturday so was quite full, but they handled it well, service kept up. Shame that there wasn't more broad selection of beers, especially on tap and for the price of what they do have. Also, please turn the speakers down a bit in future
S. J. H.
Perfectly placed for the Natural History museum and the V and A. Just over the road. Traditional pub. Busy but friendly. Good fresh food served hot. Yes a little wait but worth it. Nice London pub.
N. L.
Great beer and service.
R. A.
Nice for a cold one on a sunny afternoon. Near South Kensington station and the museum districts (natural history and science). Typical London prices, £20 for three drinks but a good spot to chill with friends.
J. C.
Decent pub. Clean and has friendly staff. Ordered food and was told it would be a 45 minute wait but food arrive before we finish our first round. No high chair available for children though.
D. M.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to a barmaid .
I was visiting London last weekend sat 12th Oct. Became ill outside, and a barmaid came to my aid.
She was very professional, calm and looked after me after calling an ambulance for me.
She knew exactly what to do, gave me sugar, glass of water, a seat
Huge thank you for that, i really appreciate it
M. F.
An ok pub in South Kensington, really close to the tube station. Range of beer good, and nice for a quick drink on the way out of work to the train. Haven't tried the food or stayed for much time in here.
T. L.
Casual pub. Nice for a drink. Food not great but ok for the price.
We paid £25 per person for a main dish and a starter we have shared between 3 persons. Not cheap but ok for London. Would not return.
g.
Very nice lively pub
R. I.
Let' get some drinks ! 🤩
Alex is a great host !
r.
Another very busy Greene King pub. The place had a very good feeling to it and the bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Had a chat with a few "locals". Pleasant visit.
L. P.
Not the happiest of staff, saying that I could not serve the public. Great selection of drinks including local ales.
Food standard microwave majority selections but still very nice if in a rush or indeed pay for what you get is what's needed.
S. S.
Would like to thank all staff at the hoop for the great hospitality last night , you kept the beer flowing through out the football xx
M. H.
Overpriced for terrible service and mediocre food. They turned away multiple customers at lunch time because the staff was putting a new shipment away, we were lucky we got the food we did. The food we each got was okay, but not worth the price.
P. M. C.
Expensive, but that was to be expected. Food was OK, typical pub grub. A good place to loiter if you are later going to the Royal Albert Hall. Drinkers spill out onto the street and everyone good natured. Bar staff polite. Would I go again? Certainly.
C. B.
Nice place, kids friendly
B. C.
Fairly standard generic central London Pub. They had a good selection of beer and an excellent location for Kensington Museums. Good service at the bar.
L. E.
I've been to this pub loads. A friend and her work crew from the NHM go here a lot for after work drinks and it's easy to see why. It gets a bit packed at peak times but they manage it well and you'll rarely wait long for a drink. I wouldn't come for the food but I don't think anyone would
G. T.
Cool atmosphere for drinking a beer with friends!
J. S.
The pub had a good atmosphere and a great selection of beers but it exploits its location as a tourist trap; it is too expensive! Food and service are fine.

We absolutely love this place. We hadn't been in London for 2 years but we walked in and the Landlord remembered us and treated us like we were regulars the food was great as usual and the company and vibe of the place is brilliant would highly recommend
K. R.
It's literally one of the only pubs right by South Ken station so you've little choice .
Beer and lager was flat, white wine was ok but nothing amazing.
I only go here as there is no where else right by the station
S. J.
It's is very local to the tube station and is therefore very busy just after work. So much so, they have a queuing system that confuses punters. They ran out of one IPA so suggested another which also ran out making the queue even longer. After the work rush they returned to a normal bar system.
J. K.
A lovely dark wood pub with the olde world feel . A Greene King establishment with the standard menu which is of a descent quality . With at least four real pumps and several craft ale taps . Good news for CAMRA members as there’s a discount available . Well worth a visit and it’s just around the corner from South Kensington tube station ..
R. C. P.
Great place for a pint and friendly staff..
N. A.
Nice place to have a drink.
d. s.
Good place for a quick drink. Young and trendy crowd.
P. C.
I always regard the Hoop and Toy as the only pub in South Kensington. Not quite true, but there aren't many around. Excellent place to meet people if you're going to something in the Albert Hall, or somewhere to chat afterwards. It's helped in this respect by being open after 11, even earlier in the week.
D. V.
Decent pub, but extortionate prices. Over 19 quid for 3 pints. I work in Canary wharf so am used to ridiculous prices. But the beer was cheaper in the Royal Albert Hall!!
R. H.
An ok boozer, but could do with a lick of paint and way too many tables are left uncleared for a long time. Empty glasses and dinner plates everywhere. We had to clear a table ourselves, returning glasses to the bar, in order to find a place to sit. Not the best.
S. P. (.
Nice traditional pub with good beer and food, staff are friendly and welcoming and have been every time I visit, well worth popping in for a drink or something to eat.
M. R.
We visited the hoop and toy after the natural history museum in the morning, we all ordered different pies and they were amazing ! Would highly reccomend both the steak and red wine + chicken and mushroom pies !
D. W.
After going to albert hall was ideal for station
H. M.
An enjoyable enough pub with friendly service, but when I was in there was an estimated 40 minute wait for food. A bit strange since the place wasn't exactly bursting at the seams.
R. N.
If your looking for somewhere to eat the food is good pub food and the staff are friendly. Very handy eating place if you are museum visiting in South Kensington.
M. E.
A standard pub with standard food and drinks
C. A.
Good beer selection
I. S.
Nice beer and atmosphere
K. W.
Food was great, so was the music and atmosphere
V. S.
Decent meat pies, can get hard to find a table sometimes. Unfortunately comedy club downstairs was closed this one night for a private event but it looked like fun
P. H.
Great live comedy venue!
M. P.
Great pub close to the Natural History Museum. Good beer and choice of lunches. And staff with a great sense of humour.
P. E.
Love this place. Always service wiv a smile 😃 and hope the Friday nights comedy returns ASAP!😆😄👍🏽
A. B.
Good pub with a typical pub beer selection...
I've not eaten here so won't be able to review that.
Clean and friendly ambiance.
J. M.
Visited for a drink after visiting the nearby natural history museum. Nice pub with a good drinks selection and nice staff. Will be back when in the area.
S. T.
Had lunch here.. very busy but still managed to get a table. The food and service was fine but unfortunately I needed the loo 🤢 ruined the visit and should seriously be visited by environmental health...
F. L.
Decent enough victorian boozer, quite pricey and busy due to the lack of good pubs in the general area. Fine for a drink after a trip to the museums though.
D. d. V.
Decent enough selection of beer but a little on the pricey side at £5.60 a pint. Haven't tried the food but looks to be standard Greene King fare.
a.
The food is quite expensive and good, but not for the price. Although a lot of reviews say it's bad I disagree, I had a good time with ok service. My food was a little bit too sour, that's all.
D. H.
Seems like a nice place for a drink. Can get busy in the evenings. Toilets were disgusting and no soap/handwash, which would really put me off eating there
M. R.
Nice atmosphere here but it had a bit too much of a bleachy smell for me.
The icebreaker ale was really good.
P. J. N.
Nice open plan pub conveniently situated around the corner from Exhibition Road...
Friendly staff...
K.
Love this small pub ! Close to my work and trying to visit every week.. world cup keeping them packed and fun ! Very cozy
J. S.
Great pub, expensive, but what do you expect in London. Great atmosphere, strange location of hand dryer in the gents toilets though!!
B. L.
Great atmosphere, lots of screens to watch the football on. Staff really helpful, and they have a good happy hour - even on Sundays
B. K.
Absolutely lovely sports pub. Good beer and good food in a friendly and nice atmosphere. We will be back.
R. B.
Nice pub next to the place I'm staying. Easy to get a pint and everyone there was super friendly.
J. R.
Good pub as long as Chelsea are not playing as it gets packed with one pint drinkers that take up the whole pub... they soon leave once game is finished though . Helpful staff
E. R. C.
Nice pub near the museums and tube stop. A bit pricier than average but overall nice atmisphere to enjoy a pint
D. B.
Great pub and great pleasant staff
T. P.
Excellent London pubs. A good range of very good beers and excellent food. Staff were very helpful too.
A. C.
I came here for a couple of pints. Nice place but a bit noisy and the selection of beer was not optimal
G. P.
The place is very beautiful, very genuine pub. Good selection of beers. The menu is fine, but it is a standard menu.
H. B.
Great range of gins but very busy. I've been three times and only once managed to get a table.
M. E.
Been serve by a new lady yesterday 7.01. She’s respectful nice and helpful ! Never seen her before there but 100% for her ! Good job young lady
f. c.
Good atmosphere, bad beers on tap, too much lights on. Nice people, though a bit posh and great old fashioned decoration.
L. F.
Fantastic food and a good beer👌
N. A.
Drinks fairly priced but avoid the toilets as they reek of death. Going up the stairs sober isn't possible as the smell is just that vile.
C. M.
Nice pup, friendly staff with a good atmosphere. Would've given more stars if the hand-dryers worked in the toilets.
B. S.
Very busy pub as close to the Natural History Museum. Good atmosphere and live sports. Christmas beer was a bit flat.
A. B.
Typical London pub with mixed crowd. Food smelled good and service is quick. Although it also has London prices.
N. M.
Really accommodating and the food was lovely
N. L.
Very busy just stopped for a drink to get out of rain and sit down. Good beer and food looked good from what we saw
J. M.
We are here for the comedy! It's a great club, free comedy all week. Last time we were here we saw Tom Ward fresh back from Edinburgh. Brilliant.
J. M.
Nice cosy little pub with a good atmosphere. Very packed but it was rush hour. Good fun
A. D.
Great atmosphere. Food brilliant, toilets need attention. Friendly staff x
A. P.
Small, quiet and bar staff are friendly. The food is good based on the one thing I ordered but its a little pricey for what it is
P. D.
Busy pub just round the corner from South Ken station. Good selection of ales on tap and a nice vibe. Recommended.
n. e.
Actually should give this place a higher rating as is the only real pub in the area. Check out the comedy club (free) upstairs. If it's still going..
P. B.
Great beer, nice atmosphere and good service at the bar. Food is of good quality. Recommended.
M.
Food is spectacular! Absolutely stunning we got the chicken sharer platter. It was perfect.

Lovely and very friendly staff
J. S.
Such a nice pub, really nice vibe but the steak and ale pie not suitable for vegetarians, in my opinion.
A. G.
A cosy chain pub with a somewhat eclectic decorating style, busy with a pleasant atmosphere. Bar service being a little slow
P. P.
Good pub but can be very busy during school holidays
G. P. R.
Busy tourist pub handy for the museums. Typical Greene King fayre available. Staff efficient and friendly but overworked.
M. Z.
Maybe it was a long night, staff weren't that welcoming but the beer was cold, smooth and bubbly so all good!
J. G.
Had a nice pint and a good pie n chips. Nice place
You will enjoy it.
J. H.
Very busy with tourists and quite pricey, but they do have one or two great craft beers
D. S.
Pricey pub as you'd expect around here, and slightly rude service, but a good range of beers and managed to get a seat.
G. H.
Disappointed with Philly steak and cheese ciabatta. Overcooked steak slices served on slices of white bread. No resemblance to ciabatta.
i. u.
Very busy, but then was a Friday night. That said the service was pretty quick and the beer was good
E. C. G.
Friendly staff. Good for Sunday roast with friends /family
K. M.
The Rubber Shark comedy night on Fridays is brilliant. Pub has great atmosphere as well.
G. Z.
Average pub, with less than average food and smelly sticky floor. Good drinks selection though. They do comedy shows upstairs.
F. C.
Great chicken wings. The music is also good. Beer is bit pricey, but livable
L. H.
£12.70 for 2 lager shandys!! Most expensive pint of lemonade.

Nice neighborhood pub with better than average food. Nice and friendly staff.
T. H.
Food was good but we had to wait an hour before it was ready. As an apology, we were given another round of drinks on the house.
P. S.
Great selection of beers, large screen TV's and food also available, only downside was the shortage of tables but it's London, it's kind of expected tbh
P. G.
