This is a really excellent London pub. Good range of beers and very welcoming staff. Had a superb steak pie with mash and peas. Can't go wrong!

Popular small pub within a stones throw of Smithfield Market. I love the bullion glass front. The bar itself is pretty small but there is a Gin Parlour upstairs; albeit closed on the Saturday evening that I visited. The pub fair is pie-based and there is a good lunchtime meal deal going on. The reviews regarding the staff are pretty varied - from rude to really friendly. On Saturday they were neither. COVID edit: This place re-opened a little later than most but, nevertheless, it’s really COVID secure. Had a great chat with Mona and most definitely upped my rating!

Visiting London for work, and after a long day, we were ready for dinner - except it's a bank holiday! We walked around a bit, and thankfully stumbled on The Hope before long. 2 pies and cold brews later, we are happy, satisfied, and ready to face the world again. Wonderfully hospitable Tim made sure we had everything we needed, but once we dug into the delicious masterpieces in front of us, all was right with the world. We devoured a MooDog (a steak bacon and ale pie) and Chicken Aragon (a chicken bacon and tarragon pie) and enjoyed the friendly surroundings. The Hope was the perfect combination of great food, beer, and atmosphere.

So.... Tried N1 pale ale here. Fantastic balance flavour, not too alcoholic, 4.1 can have 2 at lunch. The pie, other end of spectrum, positive it was hot they were genorous with gravy. But the flavour lacked, steak and ale tasted a little alely but the steak was physically there but not in spirit. Mash portion would be described as homeopathic by the unkind. No real London style Pie and mash on offer. GODDARDS this is not. Beer expensive for a non London waged punter. Not the pub I visited 30 years ago, but will maybe try again.

Had a really nice late dinner here, and ordered form the set menu £15 for a starter and main. Was really great value and good food. The staff are really friendly and helpful, offering recommendations off the menu and a bit of chat. The restaurant itself is a bit dated.

An absolute delight of a London Boozer with added gin lounge. Great selection of alcoholic beverages available housed in clean and fresh decor. Staff were excellent the person in the Gin bar especial helpful and engaging. Great venue if you are in the area its a must.

Had a really great experience with food and drink at this pub! Fantastic place to bring clients whether it’s a social or quiet place you’re looking for. The bar staff are very helpful and offer the best service I’ve experienced in London, especially Katarina who helped myself and my wife as we were probably being a pain! This is a great pub, with warm, yet professional, staff. They have a variety of pies that taste quite delicious, and a good range of gins reasonably priced. When, on one occasion, our orders were mixed up, the assistant manager was kind enough to offer her personal apologies and a glass on the house. Will be back!

Great beer and fantastic pie and mash. A great example of a good old London pub. Friendly staff and good prices. Often running good meal deals. Far from the pretentiousness of some places that now infest the old town. You can still find real London but it's getting harder. Soon don't go past the place without taking a look inside. You will not be disappointed.

Nice bar with a good selection of beers. Can be very crowded during after work hours but there's a lot of space in front of it for people to spread out, enjoy their drinks and have good conversations. Prices completely fine for the area. There's also several restaurants in the area so you can easily combine this place with a dinner of your taste beforehand.

Nemo is the best pie in town. Especially if you need something comforting and warm. I always eat it with a pint of a delicious ale. This place became my regular once a week lunch destination. Super cool and friendly staff makes whole exlerience even better. Their original ketchup is a must to try for any ketchup coneseur ;) It is also very clean and nicely refurbished which works well with the original Victorian festures of the building.

Really enjoyed breakfast pints with Val. He loves a good chugg, the problem is getting him stop and go to work to close support tickets like he's paid to do. His boss, JRB, is at a loss as to how to handle him. Some people don't change and luckily the Hope doesn't either
