Reviews of Humble Grape
S. C.
Thank you Katya and the Humble Grape team for serving us the wedding of our dreams back in May! The venue was stunning, the staff were professional and always kept our water and wine glasses full, we never felt rushed through our courses and the food was so delicious our guests are still talking about it 6 months later! Katya helped us plan all the details and even helped with some of the decor and set up. Was great for having a live band too at one end with a quieter retreat at the bar end. Perfect venue for a wedding for all the reasons mentioned plus it's on Bride's Lane and in the crypts of a church famed for inspiring the tiered wedding cake! We would highly recommend for any event.

Service is fantastic. But to be honest, the wine selection it's not my cup of tea, more hedonistic style for yuppies. But still you can find something for yourself. Quite good braseeri style of food. Simple but good.
Monday is the best day to visit this place, becouse you pay shelf take away prices for wine and you can drink inside the restaurant. General manager Kevin Coetzee is a real star. Thank you again for a very nice welcome.

Great venue for a private party! Excellent food, great wine, wonderful staff. Nice area to dance too.
The only tiny negative was no Disaronno behind the bar :(

A wine tasting experience like none other, accompanied with great food. The Côte de Boeuf is out of this world if you like your steaks. Some incredible wines from around the globe, selected only from responsible estates.

Great service. We ordered Burrata and skirtloin steak. While Steak was dry and tasteless Burrata was very fresh. I recommend you go for small dishes and wine rather than ordering main dishes.

A really nice little wine bar, friendly and knowledgeable staff and some of the most interesting wines over ever tried! Definitely one to try if you’re in the area :)

The staff is efficient and courteous. The order was correct. We followed Covid's safety regulations, and the food is fantastic.

Amazing selection of wines, really friendly service and very knowledgeable

Great wine selection (as you would expect) however we came here for dinner and the food was brilliant. Very good quality, tasty and decent portions - not pretentious. All topped off by ridiculously good service. The manager and our waitress were fantastic and couldn't so enough. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic venue, if you love your wine. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It is expensive, but there were a few reasonably priced bottles available. They can cater for large groups and also serve food.

This restaurant provided us with an excellent meal. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Completely superb little hidden gem, beautiful style, lovely looking, baked Camembert is a must

Food was OK, but given the reviews I was expecting very high quality food and sadly it wasn't. We ordered from the set menu and still paid over £40 for lunch with soft drinks only, so for that I'd expect to be blown away, but it was just OK.
The venue is nice enough, with some quirky touches, and the wines look lovely (and clearly are the main draw for most), so I'm sure it's a wine drinkers paradise, but foodies will not be as impressed.

My friend and I had a lovely time here, we went on a Monday hoping to have just a nice evening. We realised that there was a special offer on where one can take any bottle of the shelf and pay the take our love for it on a Monday. We paid only £13 for a great bottle of Riesling and really enjoyed it. The food is nice, we had the prawns (maybe a bit too garlicky), the scallops (could have been cooked 1 minute longer) and the baked Camembert which was amazing. The dessert were absolutely fabulous. You got to try the pecan pie! Will definitely come again. What a great place to visit. I can only recommend.

Great ambiance, service and food. Monday retail night deal is wonderful (~40% off / bottle)
M. L.
A real treat of a dinner.
The Monday night wine deal is very good value, we enjoyed our bottle and the pudding wine we had afterwards.
The food is delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is stylish. Overall a win.

Such a fantastic little find. A great wine bar serving up delicious meals too. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the wine choices was endless and the food was very impressive. We'll be back for sure!

Great insight and support from a knowledgeable tasting guide. Really helpful throughout the wine tasting and suggested menu pairings. The Humble Grape team have discovered some hidden gems which offer good value considering the remarkable quality of these somewhat undiscovered wines - to drink in or take home!

We had a table for 8 on Friday at lunchtime and everything was brilliant. We had loads of dishes to share, all of which were great, a bottle of cava, and some red and white at the waitresses suggestion. All of the wine was beautiful, and very reasonably priced for the quality. I was so happy I am going to use this venue for a team building event and add it to our corporate hospitality list.

Lovely new spot in an area that really needed an upgrade in terms of restaurants/wine bars. We got an exhaustive explanation of the wines (directly sourced and exclusive to this place in the UK) and went for a really delicious Portoguese white. We also ordered two half boards (cheese and fish: very nice) plus some pretty perfect sweet potato fries. Will definitely go back.
H. C.
We really enjoyed the fine and good value wine along with three sharing platters. I would recommend coming here for socialising with friends and business at lunch and the evening and I look forward to coming again. The service staff were chatty and fun. Great atmosphere. thanks

We really enjoyed our meal in Humble Grape on Friday evening. Food was great and reasonably priced for the city centre location. Loved the wine list too, would be the perfect spot for a liquid evening. Music at the start of the night was a bit loud, I prefer not having to shout across the table at dinner but that was outweighed by the quality of food and service.

Really good experience, good food that is cooked simply but exceedingly well.
The game terrine was possibly the best I have ever had and the pork chop was simply divine. Pork at its best, devoured with vigour.
The icon wine Friday is also a fantastic chance to try wine that would otherwise be out of reach!
I will be back (again and again)

We hired the venue for a wedding celebration and the staff couldn't have done more to make the day such a huge success. They were without exception so smiley and happy while working so hard to keep our 130+ guests served with food and drink through a long day. They even managed to attend tirelessly to the smaller details like keeping water jugs full.
The food, despite catering for such large numbers, was just a delicious and plentiful as it was when I recently lunched there with my son.
I lost count of the many guests who commented that this was the best wedding they had been to - mainly due to the staff at the Humble Grape. Well done to all of you.

I liked it. Pretty cool place just off Fleet Street. The wine selection was mostly good, there is probably something for everyone. The food was just OK but the face it’s tucked away is brilliant. Cool in the summer.

Our experience was a bit affected by the fact that the restaurant had a big event in the evening, so waiters and waitresses were moving tables, crockery, glasses etc around, and by about 3.30pm my guest and I were the only people left in the place, apart from the staff. It was the first time I had visited the Humble Grape, and the food, which was the three course special, was excellent. The wine, which I had read about on the website, the "Ladybird" red from Cotes du Rhone, was beautiful, and made all the better, as it was priced at retail, being a Monday lunchtime. The service, despite what else was going on, was very good. My only small gripe was that it was quite cold in the area by the bar where we were seated, but maybe this was caused by all the activity that was going on in advance of the event in the evening.
All in all, very good. I will certainly return.

New favourite wine bar. Steffan and team were great and can really recommend their tasting Tuesdays, a tenner for 4 good sized glasses of great wine and good knowledge too from the lady serving us.
A. P.
Good selection of wine. Ok for tidbits not full dinner.

We had a great evening at the Humble Grape last August, our sommelier Nelson was very energetic and passionate about explaining his interesting choices of wines. Also the Coté de boeuf was memorable! Recommended and very good value if you go for the wine tasting.
L. M.
Liked this place a lot. Good wine that they sell at retail prices on a Monday. I was there with a friend and we felt comfortable and relaxed. Good attentive service without hassling.
J. B.
Incredible, interesting wine collection but the food is the really hidden gem...simple but delicious! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, relaxed non-snooty vibes...my favourite wine bar by far!
M. B.
The food here is ok but it's let down a bit by the service which is a bit hamfisted. We booked a table for 9pm which in hindsight was a bit later than they would have liked. We were rushed through our meal and when it came to desert we asked for a couple of minutes to let or main course settle only to be told that were had to decide now because the kitchen was closing. Five minutes later we were told the bar was closing we took that as our prompt to leave. Won't be going back.

Cod and steak dishes were well presented but tasteless, cooked by South African run place. Sauce on offer was ketchup! Recommended South African red was an easy shiraz. Friendly french waitress.
P. S.
Giuseppe was passionate about the Humble Grape's wine list and helped us pick a truly outstanding red (Stellenbosch Limited Reserve). A great experience, I'd definitely recommend it.

Very good English food at a decent price. £40 for 3 courses. Very nice private room at the back can cater for parties up to 15 or so.

Great place and Loved the wine we were recommended. It was a little hard to find but well worth it. Maybe using google maps on my phone would of been a better shout.
