Pleasantly surprised and the reviews have been 50/50. We were running late and needed to phone the restaurant which was proving difficult as our booking was after the lines were closed. However the restaurant ended up phoning us to see where we were! We greeted warmly and seated immediately, just in time for the entertainment. Drinks were flowing; we got welcome shots :) and free prawn crackers whilst we waited for the food. Due to the restaurant being busy and our food taking a little longer than expected, we were given free drinks for our patience. Staff were friendly. Ordering was east and the food came out hot! Can’t wait to go back!

I had a great experience at Laki Kane, the food was well presented and tasty, the staff were very attentive and friendly. I went on a Sunday afternoon so I enjoyed bottomless cocktails 🍸 😋. The music they played in background were all classic late 90's and early 00's hiphop and R&B. Not forgetting to mention the ambience was an authentic tropical Thai theme. I would definitely visit again and I would highly recommend this restaurant as a place to check out if you're in Islington North London.

I’d seen the tiktoks of this place and already knew it’d be great. We honestly had the best night, even on a Sunday the music had us dancing and there were sparklers going off all around as people celebrated. We sat at the bar and watched everything being made, shoutout to Oscar who talked us through all the ingredients and kept the drinks flowing, they need at least 5 more Oscar’s he was brilliant! Honestly cannot wait for an excuse to come back - there are so many cocktails I want to try (but the Laki Kane is a must-have so far!).

If you want to feel on holiday go visit!!! On this occasion we went to a rum making experience where we infused ingredients with Dry rum and even got to take our samples home with the opportunity to re order again how cool is that! I recommend the cocktail making lessons they are a great starter then head down stairs for some good Thai food!!!! The chicken pad tai is my favourite so far!!! The Cocktail Making Class was a brilliant experience! I absolutely loved my visit to this Tiki/Caribbean themed bar. The vibes were 10/10! I love cocktails and had wanted to go to a class for ages so I was over the moon to be able to come and experience this courtesy of Red Letter Days with my bestie! Our table was set up with all the drinks, ingredients, glasses and teaching cards ready for us to dive straight in. Initially I didn't realise it was tailored towards couples as a 'romantic evening' but that didn't stop me and my bestie from learning and laughing, in fact, I think it added to the fun. We drank pink prosecco and created a spiced rum cocktail that was AMAZING! If like me, you are new to cocktail making Laki Kane is the best place to start. The whole experience is newbie friendly and the vibe here is unlike any other on Upper Street. Staff were incredible, so welcoming and friendly, they provide a very helpful service - literally just had to push a button when we got a bit stuck with our step by step cocktail making cards and staff were right there to give us a hand. Simon is the man, if you don't interact with Simon your visit was wasted. He made the complete vibe, carried energy from the moment we walked through, did the rum tasting which was thoriughly enjoyable on its own. I came here for my cousin’s birthday on a Monday evening and I have to say, it was brilliant!!! The quality of the food is top tier. The dishes we had were so good, we asked if we could order more to take away and they kindly agreed and packed some for us. If you like Chinese food without all the oil and MSG but still so flavourful and tasty, this is the place to go!! The drinks were great too! Pretty much all the cocktails have rum in it (expected as it’s Tiki inspired), but you can ask for other spirits too! The customer service.. unmatched! We asked to move where we were sat, as some of the tables had bar stools instead of seats with back support and our waiter made no fuss and had us moved quickly! Our waiter (forgot his name but he was lovely and had dreadlocks) was great and made my cousins night very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. 10/10 for food and customer service. I will be returning very soon!

I absolutely loved my time at Laki Kane. I discovered it on Tik Tok and thought it was the perfect place to celebrate my bday. The service was great, we got a total of 2 mini shot complimentary cocktails served to us. The food was amazing and drinks were amazing. Usually at these kinds of restaurants, it's one or the other, so to have quality in both, was a nice surprise. It really does have a vibe. When it's someone birthday celebrations and the staff are aware of this, the lights go out, the music turns up (birthday relevant music) and they come out firework display trays. The toilets are clean and well maintained. The whole place is literally the most perfect tropical escape with Thai cuisine. Our bill for 2 people came to approximately £80 with our individual starters x1, one main each and a drink. Not bad. Parking is free after 6.30 on weekdays, otherwise it's Ringo app situation for about £7 an hour lol.

Probably the best night out I've had in years. Staff were incredible. This venue is AMAZING, the look, the decor and the ambiance are SUPERBLY grand and delightful plus their staff are FANTASTIC. The food I had was excellent, I couldn't get enough of those Satay Bites, they were so good that I had to order more, but what stood out the most was their cocktails, they are on another level. As a whiskey lover, I thought that a bar specializing in rum would not be able to cater to my needs/wants but I was highly reccomended by Chris their Manager to try their Banana Republic and it did not disappoint! for that, hats off to Chris for his recommendations, for his sublime service as well as his staff and my thanks and appreciation to Laki Kane, what you do is amazing, keep it going. Had the bottomless brunch for £49 per person. This was a pretty good deal as the starter and main were filling and delicious and the drinks were well made. However they could have been more options for desert as there was only one option: melted chocolate and cream and it was quite heavy and not very appetising after a good meal. I think the restaurant has recently become very popular because there seems to be not enough tables and space for the amount of people they had booked in for the time that I went. If you are worried about being in crowded spaces right now during Covid I definitely would not recommend going here as it wasn’t very well ventilated and it was very packed. The decor and the music was fantastic and the staff were very nice although the service was quite slow because I feel like there were too many people in the restaurant and not enough staff to cover them. Overall I believe this restaurant has a lot of potential and maybe be much better on a more relaxed day rather than that it’s busiest. I would go again at a much quieter time.

One of the best experience I ever have so far! I found this place while looking for a birthday present for my best friend, and came across rum cocktail class on Virgin Experience. It's also the first time I hangout at tropical bar, and also the first time I try rum based cocktail. And now I must say.. I'm so IN LOVE WITH RUM. ❤️ Staffs here are nice and friendly, they're such a professional teaching how to make a cocktail as easy as possible (I'm a newbie for all these and my cocktails turn out muah! My wife and I booked for a romantic experience at this establishment on Thursday evening, we had the most fun time it really was a pleasure to go to a place where all of the staff were very helpful and took the time to meet our needs lovely girl called grace served us ,and I believe it was the manager a special thankyou to the manager I believe his name was Bence who allowed have dinner although our booking was already over. It's rare to find a good tiki bar in London so I was quite pleased with our experience at Laki Kane. We turned up as a reasonably large party quite late in the night and they managed to seat us very quickly despite it already being quite busy, so that's good. Between the lot of us we tried several of their drinks and I have to say that pretty much everything was delicious. It does seem like they're focused a lot on the atmosphere and the impression they're giving compared to some bars where all that matters is the quality of the drinks served, but I don't especially think that's a terrible thing when you've got a place with a very strong theme and you're trying to create a particular setting. I think that's reflected in the prices; nothing outlandish for London, but it's in the same ball park as some other bars that definitely serve drinks of a higher calibre. Again, I don't think this is a problem, but just be sure you know what you're gonna get when you come here. You're paying for the atmosphere and the vibe as much as the drinks, and they've really done a great job with creating a fun tiki experience.

Edit n.2 - I sadly have to downgrade my rating, after visiting Laki Kane for the third time yesterday night (and this time for a special occasion). We were celebrating a birthday and asked for a little special birthday surprise to kick off the celebrations. Unfortunately, nothing was done! This was disappointing, as we were very much looking forward to it. Cocktails were still great and we had an enjoyable time nonetheless. However, from this experience, I do not recommend visiting for special celebrations - unless you are keen on prompting staff on the very same night for your request to be honoured. - We visited on a Tuesday night for some drinks before dinner and had a lovely time! The atmosphere and decor of the place are stunning, you feel like you are far away from London! 🌺🌺 Staff was very welcoming and smiling - when we arrived they immediately offered us some lovely tastings, which we very much appreciated! Our drinks were likewise nicely presented & prepared. I really loved my time at Laki Kane Cocktail Bar and would definitely recommend visiting when around the "Angel area". I myself will certainly be back!

We had a dry rum making experience at Laki Kane bar. They have they own lovely distillery on the premises. It lasts 2,5 hours which includes a insight into rum history, cocktails and rum tasting and finally you get to make your own rum with selected ingredients. A rum expert who was leading this session yesterday was highly knowledgeable, friendly, funny. Would highly reccommend rum making class to individuals who are after new experiences!

I think the food portions were very small, order more than one thing if you are going to go here. Majority of people here were black, so you know it's a vibe and a half. The music played was afrobeats throughout. Lit! Absolutely gem of a place. I booked this as a Red Letter Experience last Christmas for my husband and due to covid and everything else we have only just managed to get there. From the moment of booking until leaving it was an absolute dream. Tina from reservations through to staff on the night were attentive, friendly, happy and I we really felt we were in paradise. The drinks we had here were absolutely delicious and creatively served. They went out of their way to get us a table (I'd recommend getting a reservation in advance, as it's quite small and totally packed). The service is fast and friendly, the type of place where they compliment your drink choices and call your girlfriend "princess" to her ridiculous delight. If you aren't lucky enough to be seated (where the table service is button operated), the bar can be crowded and slow. It's very loud in here, so not the best for a quiet intimate drink, but it makes for a great atmosphere! The interior decor is excellent, perfectly capturing a tasteful tikki bar from the outlandish furnishings, right down to the Hawaiian shirts and glasses. It's quite pricey (about £14 a drink) but it's a great night out! Definitely check it out, but it's busy on a Friday and Saturday night!

Amazing new Hawaiian style bar! When you walk in you feel like you've stepped out of London and into a Hawaiian luau! Pretty much every type of rum you can think of is available and the cocktails are delicious! Plus, they don't use any artificial sweeteners in their drinks only natural sources such as agave syrup, honey etc. Definitely worth checking out!

At the time of writing this place has only been open 3 weeks and I heard about it from a friend who lives in the area. After looking at the menu online I thought it looked great but potentially a bit gimmicky. After a few drinks tonight I'm sold. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, spacious feel, great unique seating areas and bouncers that smile! The food I saw coming out looked great though I didn't eat there myself. Definitely planning on a couple of trips back already. It's only new, so I really hope it doesn't get over crowded like other bars in the area that's a turn off before you walk in with 20 minute waits for a drink. So far, there isn't any of that here. But with some research we stumbled upon Laki Kane 👏🏾that shuts at 1.30am First time visiting this cocktail bar, we we're very impressed upon arrival, beautiful tropical decor, very well designed theme teki bar which gives customers a holiday like experience. BEST BAR IN LONDON HANDS DOWN! The 2 servers we had were on their first ever shifts (Paddy and teagan) and were probably the best servers we've ever had in a bar! Has become my favourite bar, hands down for tiki cocktail bar in London. I love the fact that Laki Kane is my local bar. It really has been an enjoyable night everytime I have visited. Last Friday I took 15 friends and we reserved a table from 11pm, we bought the shared bowls humourously called "octopussy" and it was delicious. Everyone had a great time, and the drink delivery and presentation was next to none. Upper Street is lucky to have such a bar. Tropical twist and great music. The DJ always does a top job.

The place is super attractive and the deco is great! The prices are really high (10£ cocktail) but if you are craving a nice place to have a cocktail and some fun is worth it. Extravagantly Tiki, imagine how extravagant that is! Decor is spot on, think Hawaii meets Art Deco. Service on point with the intriguing touch of having a call for service button at the table when you’re ready to order. A long menu of tiki style drinks, rum rum and more rum. The rum and raisin Manhattan twist is particularly delectable. Book for a pre-dinner drink, becomes a bit ‘clubby’ later on and slightly loses that sophistication that is always just missing from an old man in a Hawaiian shirt.

A far cry from your usual tiki drinks full of sugar, Georgi and his friendly staff know how to impress. If you're into spirits mixed, want depth to your cocktails and enjoy yourself in a relaxed atmosphere, I can't recommend Laki Kane enough. With a cocktail lounge downstairs, their delicious new rum curated by Georgi, and a secret rum hideaway offering you the ability to flavour and still your own, there's no reason not to visit! 🍹

We only had 6 in the end, so that we could still find out way home in a decent way haha Would be in heaven if we lived nearby, Service is awesome, friendly, helpful, welcoming. How have I not come across this place sooner. My friend and I only went it for a drink, then got speaking to the waitress Claudia who recommended drinks and starters. So we ordered based on her recommendations and omg they we delicious. I have often said customer service is dead but it was so nice being served by someone who knew the menu, listened and advised us on choices. Which may I say were delicious! This is why: The staff, whether behind the bar, dj box, security, every single person who works there is always super helpful, accommodating, hospitable and just top draw service. The cocktails are just next level. Not only do they look great they taste amazing. To add to that, when I ordered more of the same cocktail the standards did not drop in terms of its presentation and its taste. Thats not easy to maintain in a super busy bar. We booked the Premium Rum Making after having an amazing experience with the cocktail making for two (which we also reccomend). This experience was amazing and so worth every penny. First we had a welcome cocktail and an in depth view on the history of rum. We then tasted the ingredient process of making rum (raw sugar cane, juice and molasses) we then had a 7 rum tasting. At that point we were also thoroughly spoiled with delicious cocktails (4 more making a total of five). The Mojito was surprisingly my favourite, which i I normally don't like but they add so many complex flavours that it is phenomenal, the punch and daiquiri were also delish. Then making our own bottle of rum which was really fun. Go big with this experience and go Premium as it is thoroughly worth it. Loved it so much I want to go again. Also make sure you pre book a table for after. I tried the Rita Hayworth, prickly dragon and under the coconut tree (which was huge). All amazing and beautifully crafted. The specialtyLaki Kane cocktail and Mahi Mahi are also amazing I had them last time. Cocktail making is an art and a skill so Laki Kane is definitely the Leonardo Da Vinci of London.

Gin cocktail that comes with the charm is a nice gimick but the drink lacks taste and punch- very washed out. Staff are laid back and friendly. Was left waiting a little long to be seated for my reservation as the bar was not busy. Decor is nice and the place has a nice atmosphere. Theme for the bar is nothing groundbreaking but is altogether well executed. If you're in the area well worth a visit but don't cross London like I did for it. Evening was spoilt by a dunk and obnoxious woman next to us.

Each cocktail differed in taste, which is perfect for a group of large people like I was in, whom all have different preferences. In addition, the service was remarkable. There were countless times where one or two of us were completely stuck on what to get next and all we would have to do is state our preference and she would bring over the perfect drink - quickly too! Not sure if the staff were training but they kept coming in twos - a little off putting when you're on a small table of two. Small complaints about the fact that random things were added to our bill that we had to query, staff always seemed to be stood around not doing much but nobody came over when we pressed the button and being sat so close to the door. It wouldn't be fair to end without saying that the food was delicious and the drinks are amazing. I'll probably be going back time and time again if I'm honest, I just hope at some point they're able to get a bigger venue and improve the layout.
