Reviews of Little Bat

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing drinks! I got the chicken and waffles, bloody Mary’s, and Paloma. All were made to perfection and the staff were so friendly and accommodating(Louie you’re amazing! We didn’t catch our female server’s name but she was equally as great) Beautiful ambiance as well. Not to mention the ladies toilets are immaculate and smell amazing :)) 10/10 recommend

Little Bat is a cool space...very dark, cosy and intimate. We were seated really quickly and the service was fast despite it being quite full on a Saturday night. We ordered the alcohol-free martini which was OK - a bit on the sweet side - but the rest of the drinks menu looked good.
C. N.
Upon arrival, was warmly greeted. Great for an evening feel, low lighting and cosy. Perfect for a quick drink or light snack. Word of warning for lovers of long cocktail glass drinks - be prepared for a short glass and ICE Server's were lovely

Popped in here on Saturday afternoon with my sister and we were greeted really quickly and it was explained to us that they were closing shortly for a private party, but they were happy to squeeze us in for a drink. We were sat in a lovely booth (the decor and whole vibe is great) and we had some really tasty expresso martinis. The service was absolutely impeccable, every member of staff we interacted with was friendly and welcoming - they even let us stay for a couple of extra drinks! I'm already planning my next visit to sample some of their signature cocktails!

Came here on a busy Friday night without a reservation. The staff very kindly fitted us in and despite being busy the service was fantastic. We tried the pisco sour, watermelon spritz and margarita, all of which were incredible. The price feels about right for the quality and service you get. Our first visit but definitely not our last! My only point for improvement is that the ladies toilets weren’t in a great way later on in the evening.
T. B.
The service was almost eerily good. Consider bar tenders. One time I looked around momentarily, thinking of where to find napkins and one of the staff read my mind and gave me some.
When my guest picked the wrong drink and didn't like it much, they offered to remove it from the bill even though there was nothing wrong with it, it was just a matter of preference.
Without kidding, some of the most thoughtful and considerate service I've ever seen in London!
And the vibe was perfect in there. Lively without being noisy, classy without being pretentious. Huge fan!

I was here yesterday for their bottomless brunch, I went for there Bloody Mary and ordered their karage chicken and waffles. Both very good though I would say wish their portion size was a touch bigger as when your drinking you want something to properly soak up the alcohol
Bloody Mary was probably the best I’ve had in london! For £45 pp incl the bottomless drinks I felt I did get my moneys worth though my friends that were on the Prosecco thought they were a bit slow topping up their drinks
I did notice there was a long gap between top ups but I was ok with it as those cocktails were strong i didn’t want to be under the table too quickly! Service was great, very patient with us as one friend arrived so late
Friendly throughout, would recommend this place 👌🏻
A. G.
My partner and I came here off a whim for a couple of cocktails. We were pleasantly surprised by very friendly and accommodating staff. The cocktails were delicious and the seating was cozy and inviting.

I booked a space here for my partner’s birthday. The staff were very friendly, helping us prepare the birthday cake we dropped off earlier for a surprise later that evening. All the drinks we ordered were great, and the nibbles we got were delicious as well. Awesome night, and would highly recommend!

What a fun, charming and sexy bar! The drinks are absolutely delicious and food (mainly tapas) is also really good. Perfect for a date or night out with friends. It will certainly become one of my regular places in Islington.

Greeted at the door and taken to a choice of tables. Amazing service from all staff, and the vibe of the evening was upheld all night. Staff were more than happy to help and answer any questions or give recommendations. Absolutely fantastic service from Harry and will definitely be returning and introducing more friends to this beautiful little bar!

We went there Friday night for drinks and Saturday noon for brunch. This place is absolutely amazing, day and night. Brunch is exceptional. We had the chickpea and potato dish, the avocado sourdough and the brioche with butterscotch banana and mascarpone. Everything was delicious and the eggs poached in a perfect way. To top all that the DIY bloody Mary offer is genius. We had a great time and definitely going back for more. Easily one of the best places in London at the moment.
W. M.
Tried the weekend brunch menu and was the only table there. Service was friendly and the decor is actually very nice. Brunch menu is limited but adequate.
Pork and Kimchi pancakes was tasty although the pork was mostly fat rather than meat. Baked eggs was actually poached eggs in a nice tomato base, served with seasoned flat bread (after initially being told there was no bread with it, then being served some white toast).
A few teething issues with the new brunch. But still satisfying.

Little Bat is the sister bar to London favourite, Callooh Callay. We headed North to this lovely bar in Islington and found a thoughtfully designed interior and friendly staff to welcome us. Comfortable seating, dark tones and shelves full of books, bottles and vintage mirrors make up the space. We stayed to try out the weekend brunch offering and of course, the cocktails.
Little Bat has a creative sounding cocktail list with some eye catching ingredients. We chose the Elevenses (£10) with McVitie’s Digestive Rumbullion, Tea, Fair Cacao, This arrived looking very much like a cup of tea complete with an amaretto creamy “milk” to add to your taste. It could not have been more suited for a brunch! The Earl 75 (£13) was a gin based number with Few Breakfast Gin, lemon vanilla syrup and veuve champagne. It had lots of bubbles and sharp flavours which was great if you love a good gin cocktail.
We began with the lemon and coriander olives (£3) and truffle popcorn (£2.50). The popcorn had a lovely coating of truffle oil and plenty of salt. They were great snacks to accompany the drinks. The beetroot hummus and zaatar flatbread (£7.50) came next. I usually have a rule of not filling up on bread before mains but this flat bread was an absolute exception. Smothered in zaatar spices that worked fabulously with the fresh beet hummus, it was a great starter.
Little Bat have a range of brunch mains depending on your mood (and hunger level). From granola to pancakes to chicken and waffles, the menu offers interesting choices. The pancakes I can seriously recommend – served with almond butter, strawberries, orange zest and mint (£7.50). Made with polenta and served with a good glug of maple syrup, they were melt-in-the-mouth soft and full of light summery flavours – perfect 10/10 for these. The chickpea & potato parmesan rosti was our second option with spinach, poached egg & hollandaise (£9.50). A nice carby number, perfect if you have a hankering for a nice filling brunch! The egg was perfectly runny and the rosti had great texture.
With so many places jumping on the brunch train and offering weekend brunch menus, it is nice to try a bar that takes the food just as seriously as their (very good) cocktails. The food is classic brunch dishes with flavourful ingredients that really pop. The prices for the brunch options are very reasonable and great for the variety and portion size you get. The cocktails are on the pricier side but for the variety of ingredients and unique combinations we feel they are justified and worth trying. There is also a bottomless option should you want to go all out (£25pp) and the venue is beautifully kitted out and has a lovely atmosphere.

Top staff with great table service . Nice atmosphere. Wonderful cocktails, the ingredients were super intriguing.
Z. D.
Cocktails are great - but don't they usually all taste pretty much the same? Not here. These cocktails are so unique and totally delicious! Not only are the interiors gorgeous but dimly lit and atmospheric. It's classy and romantic and the cocktails are amazing. Among our favourites are the Pan Am, The Bartenders Breakfast, 18th century, and Alex's Espresso Martini with dark chocolate from their old menu. The menu is artistic, and the drinks are varied, bold and distinctive - no cup 80% full of ice here! This is true quality and craftsmanship with care.
The place is a real hidden gem and popular with locals as the staff are amazing, chatty and really attentive (refill your water throughout) plus there is table service! The owner also owns Callooh Callay! Can't recommend enough! Recommend reserving but not essential!
B. N.
Nice cocktails without too much pointless dramatic flair, at reasonable prices. The bar itself presents lovely aesthetics for what it is and is unassuming and tasteful, yet pleasing. Service was excellent and we had just about enough attention without becoming too bothersome. Good for couples, although I would have preferred the music to be turned down fractionally (it's not exceptionally loud, but I prefer quieter spaces and it wasn't very busy).
P. S.
The bar is nice and the staff are friendly, but a platter for four was just pathetic. It costs £35 but can feed one and a half men . Not to mention that it came in the form of three skewers for each type, not four as you would expect!?
M. V.
Love this spot! Very cool inside, great small plates, fantastic cocktails, super friendly staff. Highly recommend
S. M.
Nice neighborhood cocktail bar with some imaginative drinks and helpful staff. Lovely ambience but also very accessible.
S. B.
Fantastic drinks and atmosphere 🍸
R. k.
What a cool place, cocktails & quality food.
Great service too.
S. F.
Great little bar. Good food and nice cocktails with a twist. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The drinks menu is via QR code on your phone with table service (August 2021)
S. H.
This is a lovely quirky cocktail bar just off Upper Street. The staff here were very friendly and the place was not pretentious at all! Rare for a place that serves good cocktails.
They also serve small plates of food that looked great but we had already eaten.
M. L.
Had a great evening here on Saturday. We booked a table for 7pm which we had to push back to 8pm, with no issues. Cocktails were lovely if a little overpriced (especially the sharing one at £28, I didn’t feel you really got value for money!) we ended up switching to the International Women’s Day special Veuve Cliquot cocktails which were great, although our server had no idea what was in them. I do wish they had a better selection of vodka cocktails though!
Food wise I HIGHLY recommend the Buffalo Soldiers if you’re peckish - the best buffalo fried chicken I’ve ever had and I’ve tried a lot in London! Vibe was good and so was the music. I’d definitely return (please create more vodka cocktails though!)
P. W.
A nice enough bar. We booked ahead but despite their being some nice cushiony seats near the middle and front of the bar we were sat in the empty back by the toilets. The back needs a rethink on the decoration which felt cheap and tatty compared to the front which looks nicely done. The cocktails were ok but for a cocktail bar not as good as one might expect. We were excited to try LB but probably won’t go back unfortunately.
E. C.
Excellent cocktails that are actually very well priced for the area (expect to pay well over £10 in other places!) and for that, I'll definitely return. Next time though, I hope that they upgrade the look. For a place that has a really interesting bio about alice and wonderland and the mad hatter...you definitely do not get that vibe sitting there. Very mismatched art and generic looking decor.
The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, it would be cool if the staff dressed less causally to really make you feel like you're entering a cool world. It sort of breaks the illusion a bit when the staff are wearing more casual things than you are.
Overall though, I'll be returning because the drinks were so good.
W. K.
Little Bat Bar is a lovely place to get drinks and food - you should go.
Myself and my partner were very, very privileged to have a Covid19 safe wedding reception here a couple of weeks ago. From the first time we reached out, we have had nothing but support from the team. We were made to feel special, given guidance and made a fuss of!
The food on the day (various steaks, gnocchi etc) was lovely and we've had so much positive feedback from people. The cocktails have always been delicious and were made special for our big day.
And the staff! Everybody working there is friendly, authentic and genuine. Even on a regular visit - people say hello, give you a wave and just make you feel like you're hanging out somewhere, not just "going to the pub".
If you want somewhere for a date - lovely. A party - perfect space. Dinner - delicious. If you have the chance to go, then please go!
L. B.
Favourite bar in islington. The menu is excellent and the bar team are always helpful in recommending off menu specials based on what I fancy. The decor is great and the loos spot on.
H. R.
Great place! Amazing cocktails (and negronis), friendly staff and a really cool vibe!
O. D.
They know how to make cocktails. Just ask them to make something off menu and it’ll be great!
K. S.
You see that?! It's a drink with a rubber duck in it. What more do you need to know?
Okay, the service is great and the drinks are wonderful. Go enjoy. It's great for couples with their intimate tables or groups with their larger spaces and the snacky food here is so bloody tasty!
F. L.
We had a lovely bottomless brunch here, fantastic service and super friendly staff. The cocktails were amazing and the chef specially arranged a vegan brunch option for me, which was delicious. Added bonus - it's dog friendly! Will definitely come back here soon. Thank you :)
D. S.
Not only is this bar aesthetically beautiful, the service is incredible. The cocktails are delicious. The ladies bathroom has little cabinets with women's products that we would expect to find in our own bathroom cupboards at home, and it just feels so caring. The food is also delicious and the staff are the friendliest ever. The bar manager is caring and ensured the service was perfect from start to finish. I've been here a couple of times and the last time I went my friend commented on how this would be the perfect bar for a first date.
L. B.
First time here, friendly, very covid safe, awesome cocktails and lovely atmosphere. At the top of my saples list now.
A. K.
What I loved about this place, apart from the quirky cocktails of course and impeccable service, is that you can book in advance and that even on a busy night you get enough space to breathe. Fantastic venue.
R. K.
Went specifically for cocktails and I have to admit that it was worth it more than everything. Very chilled atmosphere with beautiful vintage aesthetic and friendly staff that had knowledge of the menu. I would absolutely recommend!
G.
Good vibe, pretty deco, nice staff , fast service , food was too good to be a bar ! Such a hidden gem as it is not in the Main Street but so convenient :)
S. M.
made a booking for 10 people for a Saturday night. was a little worried as a big group on a Saturday night can be a nightmare. These guys handled it perfectly. The bar was very busy but this had no impact on the extremely high level of service we received. the tables we were placed at were great. everyone could chat and socialise easily. drinks were excellent. the drinks on menu were delicious, but we ordered a lot off menu, and this was no problem and they were equally delicious. food was also great. The staff really made the night - very attentive and professional.
V. K.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
Little Bat Bar hosted our wedding reception during COVID-19 and they were honestly AMAZING!!!!!! We had the most fabulous day and everyone was so nice and kind to us! The whole team made our day so special and so easy!
I hope these new restrictions don't mess things up too much and we'll be back for cocktails just as soon as we can!
M.
Delicious food, tasty drinks!!!
We came here with our friends. Service is amazing, staff are so friendly. Thank you so much!!!
Highly recommended 👏👏👏👏👏
R. O.
Lovely people and the drinks are quality too. Cannot fault it!
R. G.
I spent my 30th birthday here last night and it was perfect. Really great atmosphere, awesome cocktails and an attentive bar team. Ellie from the booking team was also super nice and made the whole process really easy compared to other places I had contacted. The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is I’ve had better cocktails elsewhere for the same price, so perhaps could be seen as tiny bit overpriced if you’re going there for the whole night. But I still loved it and will definitely be going back. The espresso martinis were a particular highlight. Thanks Little Bat team!
S. M.
Nice little bar, had a buzzy atmosphere on Saturday night. Good decor, very home style eclectic. Veggie food platter was good, especially the beetroot hummous. Only gave 3 stars as the service was a bit odd. We went to the bar and gave it to one guy who gave it to another and still didn't get it all in one go. Had to remind them a couple of times. My friends had the cocktails which they said were good. Nice place to come in small or bigger groups.
A. L.
We found this place in a book of London's best cocktail bars. Great Spot, fabulous General Manager. Sign up for their tasting nights and book ahead because it can be hard to get in.
V. E.
Such a gorgeous bar with delicious cocktails. Staff super friendly and professional; I will never forget Michele, super fun, patient and especially knowledgeable, one of the best head bartender I have ever seen!
You have to go! You will not be disappointed!
R. S.
Suuuuuuper friendly and nice staff. Felt very cool and nice decor. My friend and I shared the platter and a bottle of wine which was the perfect amount and not too expensive either!
J. W.
George and the guys are fantastic. They’re trying to make a cocktail bar that doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but just locks down the core elements of a great cocktail bar. The atmosphere is on point and their selection is huge. Worth dropping by. Top date spot.
E. M.
A nice pleasant atmosphere, really friendly staff and amazingly tasty drinks.
C. T.
Can't fault the cocktails. The bar staff were absolutely on point. However the front of house staff didn't seem like they wanted anyone drinking in their bar! Ultimately a slightly dissapointing experience given we had a reasonably sized (respectful) group drinking cocktails for a few hours.
A. E.
Great twist on classic cocktails. Does get busy so definitely book ahead.
L. D.
Gorgeous interiors, friendly staff and a mix of classic and inventive cocktails.
Right now they have really well thought out weekly cocktail specials on select nights based on a rotation of good quality branded liquors. Lucky us, we went during casamigos tequila week and it was delicious!
Close to angel, Islington and O2 venue.
I. S.
Little bat is a very cute bar. Nothing big but has some interesting cocktails. The list of cocktails is not very long but they are very good quality cocktails and well prices. The barmen are very nice and creative, and happy to make a new cocktail that suits your tastes.
R. G.
Service was excellent and staff were attentive. After a lot of searching this place delivered on great whisky based cocktails, as well as creative and different ones. Very happy and will return!
J. J.
Cool spot to have a quality beer and complimentary popcorn. Nice decor, super chilled and sophisticated vibes and super friendly bartenders. Great playlist and ambience. Thank you Adam for looking after us. Will be back next week. Grazie!
A. L.
Amazing bar, great staff. The food was good too! Loved the chips!!!!
P. G.
Nice cocktails, good music
K.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great cocktails. Been a few times before but this last time sat at the bar and observed the skills of Lewis... great drinks and good company!
M. R.
Great little cocktail bar in Islington, just 20meters from the popular Upper Street. Short walk from either Angel or Highbury and Islington tube stops. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a good cocktail menu. Open reasonably late which is useful.
C. M.
Cosy bar with great lighting and lovely staff
p. 1.
Great cocktails, very accommodating staff and would definitely return. The manager is very personable and is doing a great job!
D. L. (.
Islington may not be one of the nicer areas of London but it does have one big redeeming place to visit and that is the Little Bat. Attentive waitress service, well trained cocktail makers, and wonderful cocktails. The range is a little limited but this is a high class place with a great atmosphere.
N. 2.
Great bar with yummy food and cocktails and friendly service. Highly recommend
N. C.
Very cool and quirky cocktail bar. Great range . Table service. Even got hot ones for winter! Good music. Book a table to avoid disappointment.
G. o. H.
I went here for birthday drinks with friends. It was so nice to have table service where you didn’t have to wait forever for your drinks, staff are nice and loved the general vibe. Thanks Little Bat! ❤️
G. C.
Lovely local bar, with interesting cocktails and a great interior. Very lush, and a little quirky. Definitely a good place to have a quiet drink with some friends.
S. A.
Friendly and attentive staff, great atmosphere, not too loud so you can still have a conversation, good music, absolutely delicious cocktails and good selection of wines too
K. Y.
Hidden gem! Really cool cocktail bar with great drinks menu, great snack menu and free popcorn. Lounge area feels spacious and well appointed.
G. B.
Very good brunch - delicious pancakes and eggs and nice vibe.

The little bat has become one of my favorite spots in Angel. Great atmosphere, and both drinks and service are top notch. Recommend grabbing a seat in the bar
T. L.
Delicious and well priced cocktails, and cool ambiance inside. Will be back next time to try the food.
T. A.
Staff are absolutely amazing and friendly. A really nice place to chill with friends whatever time of day you choose. I love all the guys there. Mihales, Micky and Adam. You have our utmost appreciation from me and Oray.
😁
R. O.
Nice and cozy cocktail bar, however the cocktails were too sugary and in general not very 'artisan' and delish as claimed. Slightly overpriced for drink and food quality.
R. M.
First time visiting. Loved it. Such a relaxed and comfortable environment. Non pretentious. And the cocktails were delicious. Would recommend.
D.
Decent drinks and nice atmosphere. A slightly older crowd for Upper St (30s and 40s). Food was nice but presented a bit shoddily and portions could have been bigger. Overpriced too.
M. P.
Great bar, good atmosphere and very busy. The staff are fantastic and a brilliant ever changing drinks menu keeps things interesting.
H. Z.
I've been there a week ago to celebrate my birthday with friend and everything went perfectly. Staff is super nice, the place and music really cool and cosy. We had a wonderful time.
L. L.
Really cosy little cocktail bar with friendly & knowledgable staff.
We usually sit at the bar and it's nice in the Summer when the front of the building is open.
J. M.
What a little gem - came here at the weekend and the staff, the food and the cocktails were great.
A well deserved 5 star review

Busy, buzzy, great cocktails. Spent way too much and got way too drunk but sometimes it's worth the hangover, this is one of those moments.
I. M.
Great Islington / upper street cocktail bar that offers space (most cocktail bars in London seem rather cramped by comparison) and friendly staff.
A. H.
Expensive cocktails underwhelming, but the food was surprisingly good

We had our small (15 person) Wedding reception here on Saturday afternoon. Honestly it was really great, so perfect to have a venue that was able to accommodate us at relatively short notice. The weather outside was great, and I actually think that their own pictures do them a bit of an injustice - the inside is so nicely decorated, and they have these great skylights which let the sunlight in.
The service was perfect, the food went down really well (with a mix of ages and food preferences) - the gochujang chicken waffle was great, so were the pancakes. Drinks were varied and very fairly priced, the bartender was also kind enough to give us a list of local bar recommendations if we were going out in the evening.
Just generally turned out to be a really great choice... both me and my Wife (!!) agreed that we will definitely come back for more waffles in the future.
Thanks so much!
