Reviews of Mabel's Tavern
K. H.
This comfy, cozy but spacious pub is a short walk off the Euston Road. A great place to get away from it all or meet with friends. Short walk to King's Cross St Pancras and Euston Stations. There are far more prominent venues but this is well worth a visit. Staff and friendly and quick to serve. Great range of drinks. Kept clean.
A. P.
Lovely haunted pub with a great sense of humour! Friendly staff, good food and drink and a lovely warm fire to keep the winter blues away.
J. H.
What a great, friendly neighborhood bar! Mabel's is very nice, comfy place with very friendly servers, good cocktails, great fish plus they allowed our little pup to come n with us. We came here several times on our stay in the area and will probably come here again before we leave. Our faves are simple - the 'best ever fish fingers' sandwich w/o the bread, and the onion rings making this meal our own version of fish and chips. Deeelish! The best we have had in London. Go!
J. M.
Great pub with beers and ciders is amazing food. We had the pie and mash and it was so good. Warm and friendly atmosphere, highly recommend
A. M. Z.
We had a couple of pints and some onion rings. It was good and the place was nice. I'd recommend it
B. P.
A good bar with a decent array of beers and lagers, spirits and wines and a good pint of Guinness. They normally have enough bar staff meaning you don't have to wait too long to get served. One of the better bars in the Euston area
S. A. P.
Really liked this place. We turned up from KGX and managed to get a pint in no time. The staff were welcoming with smiles and greetings. The food menu looked great and I sampled the Nachos and Loaded Chips (minus Bacon because I'm not a fan) and the nachos were on point! I shared them with another and the plate was a great size for a 'small plate' so I was pleasantly surprised. The loaded chips arrived and they were immense. I got them to remove the baconnaise and asked for spicy ketchup and it came looking class! I really enjoyed my food, the Blueberry IPA from Shepherd Neame was sublime and the feel of the place was simply chilled but lively. Will come back the next time I'm down here 🍻😀

Decent selection of beers, food ok. One of the better pubs near the British Library.
V. J.
Lovely meal and great atmosphere. Really like that it's so close to Kings Cross as we stopped in for dinner before our journey home.
D. T.
Perfectly good pub, cozy atmosphere and good beer. Lost stars as having to post review using 4G. Wifi connection not working, shame but we shall survive.
F. R.
Good pub food, reasonably priced but limited menu.
M. M.
I walked in and was immediately greated by the bar keeper from behind the bar who asked me what I wanted to eat. I order breakfast and a pint. The bar keeper poured a hand-drawn pint. The breakfast was fine. Nothing fancy. Just a good breakfast with a couple eggs, bacon, beans, etc. Plenty of food.
This pub is supposedly haunted by Mabel. You can read about this on a sign over the fireplace. She will come to visit once in a while and pump the pump that is no longer there.
The decorations inside the pub have a train theme. Most of them are antique. They have old books and old pictures of the villages. It is a great traditional pub off the beaten path and frequented by the locals.
N. G.
Great to see a Shepherd pub in central London, great decor and friendly staff with a good selection off beers love the spitfire lager

This little spot down the road from Studios2Let was an absolute find. Traditional pub fare, we both enjoyed the sausage, mash, cabbage and gravy dish. The Eton Mess, was the pièce de résistance which was worth consuming calories for. The service was both friendly and efficient. Value for money for sure. Definitely worth a visit if you're after a good meal and a lively atmosphere 🐝
R. C.
One of Shepherd Neame's 300 pubs throughout England, Mabel's is comfortable, has good cask ales on tap, and a nice food menu. Also has multiple screens for football fans.
A. T.
Lovely warm welcome food was amazing. If I am back this way again I will definatly visit again
R. F.
Very nice staff!
C. M.
Great pub just away from the main drag, feels like a pub that you would have as your local
M. R. C.
Friendly staff and friendly locals. Good selection of wines and beers. Reasonable prices, for London. Recommend paying it a visit. Food menu too though we did not try the food.
J. N.
Had a few farewell bevvies with friends. Not the worst place in the area. Food was reasonable.
A. P.
Convenient and quite location, just off the busy Euston Rd and main rail stations. Offers a good range of mainstream beers, wines and spirits as well as some draught ales. I went here for lunch and was able to sit outside. Food was below average and there are plenty of options close by that I would go to for a pub lunch instead of Mabel'd, but is worth stopping by for drinks, especially if you're in a group.
D. S.
This craft ale and real ale pub in Butlers wharf area of London on my visit on Monday 6th September 2021 was very good both for its real ale and its ambuance
Propper locals pub nice owner and also good music played
I'd recommend this pub to have a drink in
A. F.
Popped in for a couple after visiting the British library and on our way to a restaurant. Good choice of beers and real ales.
F. R.
Clean good service. Would have liked a more extensive menu
L. M.
Good pub grub thoughtfully prepared. Attentive service.
M. P.
Brilliant pub with traditonal London pub ales are served here. Very friendly staff. Been here a couple of times when stopping in London. Definately recommend this pub to anyone
C. H.
Great location, service little slow sometimes but very friendly
B.
Nice pub, tucked away off the main road so can stand outside and enjoy a pint without being bothered by randoms. Interesting to read the history of the pub and its incumbent residents!!
P. S.
Really tasty burger! Was well cooked and very generous portion. Nice crispy, chunky chips. Had it takeaway but waiting in the pub, it had a nice, albeit quiet, atmosphere and the staff were really friendly. Worth the three hour drive into London
O.
Great little local style pub. Good beers and the burgers were banging
L. A. M.
The falafel is wonderful!!!! A lot of types of beers!!! Nice place! Good attending!!! The onion rings are already delicious! Good music! There are TVs to watch sports!!! Clean and good smell ladies bathroom!
A. G.
If you find yourself in the area and only have time for a quick pint.
H.
Just off the main Euston road between Kings cross and Euston station but a lovely little retreat to enjoy it pint 🍺
P. D.
A long time haunt, always lovely staff and a great vibe, and prices better than most!
S. O.
Had a fantastic time 👍the staff and locals were lovely and welcoming 🙏the cold scoops 🍺🍺and wine was fantastic 😀👌10/10
S. E.
Absolute gem of a place. Sausages and mash? Probably the best sausages and mash ever. Thank you all at Mabel's Tavern, first class 👍
T. W.
Good spot just off the Euston Road. Plus had the darts on. 🎯
First time trying Spitfire Lager. A good choice for the house lager.
Had some nachos too. 👍
Spot on.
T. M.
Really nice traditional pub with friendly staff
S. S.
Great little pub, much better than most in the Euston area. Has multiple screens for the football, and a great selection of beer.
R.
I had the sausage and mash. It was good, and the tavern was very cute inside.
M. J.
Olde worlde character pub close to Euston Station, tucked away from the main road. Charming!
S. S.
Fantastic staff, nice pub, London prices but not too extreme. Nice to get a drink.on the way home.
S. S.
One of our favourite locals for a drink or two after work. Love the buzz in here and the great thing- it doesn’t come with such a hefty price tag like some of the other pubs. But it’s not cheap either.
You can smoke in the warmth thanks to heaters just outside the entrance. You can also sit on one of the tables there if you fancy. Inside there’s plenty of space. I’d recommend to book a space if you’re coming just after 5pm.
C. D. L. P.
Lovely pub, with wonderful friendly staff and good food. Would highly recommend
K. M.
Really, really nice pub, it's well organised, has pleasant helpful staff, and with very good food and drink. Nothing not to like
T. D.
Nice pub with great staff
C. W.
Good selection of beer. Nice atmosphere.
J. H.
Great pub, great beer, really good food and friendly staff.
R. H.
This is a great pub and place for dinner and such kind people.
R. C.
Very friendly staff
Clean establishment
Basic menu but all cooked fresh
Usual London prices
B. W.
Ok for but my makes Guiness tasted a bit off.
V. p.
Decent beer selection. Friendly staff. Not super good for vegetarians when eating.
J. W.
Found Mabel's Tavern on our first trip to London in 2014. Ate lunch and hung out until we could check into our hotel. Had a meal there almost everyday. Fantastic staff. Returned in 2018. I would rate the staff as adequate during our second set of visits. The food was great. It can get crowded when football is on. It is a fun place for Americans to people watch and sample local pub grub. Great location to relax after a day of exploring London.
b. c.
Good pub. Traditional and has a great range of beers lagers and spirits including some different range of beers rather than the usual bog standard ones. Good atmosphere in there and generally plenty of people but never too rammed as just off the main road. Also good see ice with freindly staff.
L. B.
Friendly staff, spaced seats, decent clean beer.
R. D.
A busy pub with a good beer selection.
R. K.
Had a lovely welcome from the bar staff, such a contrast from many London pubs. Clean & well managed establishment. Being an older gent I would have preferred some more confortable seating than the high wooden bar stools & that's the only reason I"m not giving 5 stars.
B. F.
Quiet little traditional pub back off the noisy Euston Road. Centrally located but not overcrowded. Reasonable selection of ales and food. Nice bar staff. Good prices compared to neighbouring pubs
M. R.
Lovely pub with free wifi. The service was prompt and friendly, and there was plenty of seating and a traditional menu. It's a great place to drink a quick pint or spend time with friends. The only problem I experienced was that it turns into a sweat lodge when it's hot because there's no air conditioning. It wasn't enough to stop me from being a repeat customer, and I am eager to return, but it's not the place to hide from the heat.
J. A.
Reasonable range of draught beers and lagers but only at the usual extortionate London prices. TV screens everywhere which was great for watching sport. Didn't eat here but they offer a range of pub food. Easy access. Toilets were good and clean. Service was quick and helpful.
T. J.
Friendly chatty staff (we're northern so yes we talk to strangers). Good choice of drinks, nice oasis just off a busy street. Delicious food, daughter said the fish and chips were the most closest to yorkshire fish and chips she had had in London. The ham eggs and chips was also very good. Interesting local info attached to the pub especially about Mabel and her post death visits !
T. C.
Reasonable sports led pub. Food and drink.
m. j.
Great place when it's not too busy
P. B.
Awesome pub!
Good choice of beers and food, gets very busy early evening, before quietening down once the office workers head home around 20.00. Easy to find, friendly staff, and clientele with no attitude.
I'll certainly be back when I'm in the area.
M. M.
Our first place that we are when we visited London and it was a good choice. The food was great and the prices very fair.
C. C.
Popped in for a bite and a drink. Bar staff were friendly and helpful.
I bought a half-pint of Spitfire, staff had advised it was the most popular beer, and it turned out to be a truly wonderful drink, very very nice.
Had also ordered a soup, this turned out to be very thick and filling. Had got this first, as had just arrived in London after four hours on train, and after booking into hotel, wanted to eat something fast.
Shortly after, I got my main course of sausage and mash. Good standard pub fare, from a good standard menu. Having said that, the sausages (all three of them), were their own sausages, with a Spitfire flavour. This was on a good decent-sized bed of mashed potato.
Second drink was a half-pint of Bishop's Finger. However I did not enjoy it as much, in comparison to the Spitfire. The Bishop's Finger is probably a very good beer, on it's own, but not after the Spitfire. Maybe it would be better the other way around?
Would advise to not sit too close to the door on a cold winter's night, however would advise to go to this pub for food and drink.
The crowd was mixed, informal, and seemed slightly a younger crowd, than an older crowd, and seemed a decent lot.
The staff behind the bar and in the kitchen were all good and gave excellent service.
G. H.
Nice traditional old pub tucked away off of the main road, outside seating, decent food choices and a good range of on tap beers. Plenty of seating inside, so good for a gathering or a quiet drink for two.
B. B.
This is lovely local pub. Practical location and friendly service. Newly refurbished in a contemporary but traditional look. Food is good. There are screens everywhere to watch football if you are into that sort of thing.
G. S.
This pub was just around the corner from where we were staying. A great place to refresh after a hard day's sightseeing. Particularly enjoyed the real ale pints! Good seating and people watching through the big windows.
A. K.
This is a proper pub with well kept real beer and efficient friendly service. It's a Shepherd Neame pub but they did have some others. On my most recent visit I tried three of the Sheps beers and they were all in good condition. It was crowded with football fans as the pub shows Sports on TV and there was a very big match on that evening, but service was still good.
J. W.
Packed, noisy bar. Good service but the punters aren't locals (which you'd expect in a central London boozer). Only so many times you can put up with getting a millennial's back pack in your face as they squeeze past your seat.
Didn't put me off but I'll swerve it on a football night.
D. D.
Traditional London pub. Nice food (they knew how to cook a steak!). Friendly service. One star missing due to the choice of background music which at times resembled an instrumental tutor book improvisation backing track without the improvisation on top. Continual showing of sports channel for those that want it. Nice lunchtime ambience.
K. G.
Traditional pub with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Food is delicious.
C. J.
Typical London pub just around the corner from the Premier Inn on Euston road where we were staying. It was a very busy Friday night but plenty of friendly, efficient staff. Excellent Shepherd Neame beer and good pub grub.
A. M.
Just a short visit for a pint and to catch the end of the football, but I liked the place. It seemed clean, tidy and well organised. They served Shepherd Neame beer, but had quite a large variety of beers which were well served.
M. B.
One of the better pubs by St Pancras and Kings Cross stations. Good beer selection, good burgers, loads of TVs for watching sport, nice mix of traditional pub with modern elements. Definitely worth a visit if nearby
D. D.
Very friendly and a lovely place for a Sunday afternoon 😀
J. H.
Me and the lads favourite pub for a London Away day for a good drink and catch up. As off the main road nobody seems to want to walk 20 yards... so it’s a hidden gem for us!
S. R.
A nice, friendly pub with good a beer selection. Have popped in a couple of times after work and it can get a little busy but seats tend to free up fairly quickly.
Just a shame they don't have the Whitstable Bay Blonde here that's made by this brewery
S. T.
I always go here when I miss my train from Euston or King's Cross. The staff are friendly, drink selection very good. Clean toilets. Worth the extra 3min walk away from the usual train station pubs. Will be back. :-)
G. C. S.
The tavern was opened on a 1st of january and I had my first 2019 meal there. Huge portions, dish really delicious and the lager was fresh too. Many screens age displayed to watch football inside there.the service was cool, very respectful people, smiles and so on.
For prices I ate and drink for less than 18£,in Center London since they are close of king's cross/st pancras international.
J. M.
A lovely friendly local pub in London . Used as a starting point before our evening adventures in Camden. Loved the sign for the ladies. I doubt it's an original statement but the first time I came across it. Would highly recommend . We didn't buy any food but it always smelt delicious. Next time I'm over I'll be back . Thank you .
d. m.
Handy for everything, but just off the main road
k.
Very friendly a nice selection of drinks and the nachos were delicious
D. W.
Super friendly staff. Cold beer. Food normal pub grub. But can be a lone oasis in the chaos of mid town. Oh and they put on the English Premier league!
Y. 4.
Really liked this place. Nice pint of Spitfire at a reasonable price. Clean and tidy with plenty of TV screens should you wish to watch the football.
C. P.
Amazing service, great people, interesting collection of Ales and Beers and Lagers...cannot beat a happy staff team! Quiet ends to the bar if you feel like reading or catching up on some work...screens for the rugby and football...what more could you want?! :P
A. B.
Not a bad pub in lots of ways. Biggest downside is tedious beer offerings that are quite static. Busy on Fridays. Not too bad if Sun is out. Mens bathroom usual poor standard. Not cheap. Big screen for football etc.
C. H.
Weekend visit to London, pace of life too hectic. Stumbled across Mabel's Tavern and discovered a peaceful, relaxing haven. Good value, friendly staff and cricket on the TV. What more can a man want. In the unlikely event we return to London, we will head to Mabel's as our first port of call from St Pancras.
T. V.
Classic pub. The usual selection on tap. Decent selection of ciders and special beers in the fridge. Interior is outdated and could use some refurbisment. The toilet is quite modern and clean. Close to Euston and King's Cross station.
K. I.
Nice little boozer, just off the main road (not far from Euston and St Pancras stations).
Decent food and good drinks, great atmosphere in or out.
Great place to hang out with friends/family, favoured by locals.
T. M.
Very nice pub. Good choice of beers.
S. P.
Great food, try the veggie burger! I do prefer a wider range of ale, ipa and such, not a huge fan of the English ale on tap.. but hey, as we say in Sweden, take the custom where you go. (Bad translation I know)
F. H.
Enjoyed a good Sunday pub lunch at Mabel's. Nice and traditional pub with a good number of tables for groups. All of the pub favourites with good burgers and chips. Multiple televisions showing Sky Sports, but otherwise quiet.
J. O.
Nothing special but no complaints either.
L. R. T.
Solid pub with good atmosphere & nice food! Worth stopping round here as you’ll get a decent feed & pint for almost as much as a few pasties in kings cross.
K. J.
Very mixed. Local drinkers plus lots of arts students from nearby dance school. Doesn't look clean, not a great choice if drinks, but has something cool about it when the right crowd are in.
t. c.
Ok bar that does food. Sport orientated
C. R.
From the friendly staff to the great food and drink Mabel's is a great place to go for both visitors to London (being in between Euston and St Pancras), and workers alike. The bar staff pull a wicked pint!!
N. G.
Bang average pub. Decent beer, very good staff. Not eaten here but would not expect too much
I. J.
Good pub, usually very crowded. You need to keep your eyes on your bag, as due to pass through doors it can be grabbed as happened to one of my colleagues.
G. L.
Having just gotten off a plane from Australia and checked into my hotel around the corner this place was a godsend! Food was great and beer was cold the way it should be. All that and sport on the telly what more could you want?
P. K.
Hidden gem of a pub couple of mins from Euston/St. Pan/Kings X. Great beer, food looks good & staff friendly & helpful. Totally recommend.
A. G.
Nice atmosphere for watching football matches, they've got at least five big screen TVs. Plenty of seats, topical local British pub.
s. s.
Excellent, nice place, nice staff and a decent pint 👍
P. M.
Excellent pub friendly good beer and food. Great staff.
m. w.
Nice pub...quiet for Sunday lunch. Lovely Spitfire ale. Sport on tv if you're into that, food looks nice although didn't try this time. Did I mention the good beer!
R. S.
Conveniently located close to Euston, St Pancras and Kings Cross. Food was slow to come out and part of our order was wrong which resulted in a further wait, staff were fairly apologetic of the error. When the food did come it was average at best. We weren't offered cutlery or sauces and had to seek these from the bar ourselves.
A. S.
Nice North Bloomsbury boozer, just over the road from King's Cross, St. Pancras and Euston stations. It was pretty busy in there just now, late Saturday afternoon when England were playing the French at rugby, but even then it retained a nice vibe. I can't see this place ever getting too busy for comfort, but at the same time it'll never be dead. We'll be here again. England lost, by the way.
P. H.
Excellent bar to watch sport
j. b.
Spacious, friendly service, good choice of drinks and food. Live footy and plenty of screens to choose from. Downside...I object to being called 'dear' by a bartender. Absolutely inappropriate.
H. L.
Great atmosphere, good selection of drinks, the staff were lovely. Surprisingly, it is a base for Sheffield Wednesday fans, who would have imagined!
C. F.
Nice pub to chill out with colleagues or friends, a good selection of beers and dishes (not this much expansive), in a good location (near railway stations). The staff is cool but can improve.
S. R.
Always good ... good beer, fast service albeit at the top end of London beer prices. Recommend for meet from either kings cross, st pancras or euston.
E. F.
Beers are almost 6 pounds and cheeseburgers are over cooked and lack a juicy flavour. Ok for a drink or a bite, but I will probably not come back for a meal.
D. P.
Good beer, attentive staff and good air conditioning which is great in a hot day in London. Outside area is very close to busy road though.
D. R.
Good location for a pint away from the bussling traffic of Euston Road. Only 3 stars as all of the food we ordered seemed to have a habit of being overcooked. Chicken wings were crispy and dry, burger was cooked to the trexture of cardboard, fish has a huge solid chunk of solid batter, and the pie crust was so hard that is couldn't even but cut with a knife. Chips were at least ok....
D. H.
I always visit Mable's when I go to London. A cosey unspoiled pub with good beers but I was disappointed on my last visit, there was no Bishops finger on the bar, my favourite Sheppard Means beer.
M. G.
Lovely little pub just away from the hustle and bustle of the main road excellent beer's, unfortunately you must watch the football
P. L.
Nice pub food (especially the nachos are a treat!) with a genuine English pub experience nearby King's Cross. Many locals, variety of beers and inexpensive. Clean toilets.
R. D.
They keep their Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay brew in top condition. Excellent news for afficiinados of traditional British ales.
K. M.
It's my go to pub when sat waiting for the train home. Good beer, reasonable prices, outdoor area for smokers/fresh air freaks and multi TVs. Food not be as well :)
S. M.
Served quick even though it was busy because egg chasing (rugby) was on and a great pint of San Miguel if a little pricey, but that's London for you.
J. W.
I would recommend this pub. Cosy space, wide selection of drinks on and off tap and plenty of TVs. Easy to reserve a table.
D. K.
Wanted to have dinner in a local.pib, was walking distance from our Hilton Euston. Good food, tons of tap beers, friendly vibe.
R. G.
Lovely pub just over the road from St Pancras. Ideal for a pint or two either prior to embarking on the delights of London, or before you head home!
M. R.
One of the best pie I have ever had
I. M.
Love mabels, it's my local away from home. Great beer selection and great food at very reasonable London prices. Staff are always efficient and friendly.
B. C.
Beer was okay, food was reasonably priced and very tasty. Bar staff were very good, very friendly.
J. A.
Great for watching a game, most TVs at good viewing angles of any pub we found and they were showing the womems world cup game's.
M. T.
A friendly but often busy pub. We’ve been back many times as it has a friendly atmosphere and good beer on tap.
L. H.
Close to St Pancras station, this pub has a good food menu at a reasonable price. It also has a nice traditional atmosphere
S. H.
Good fish and chips and lovely staff.
A. O.
Used to come here with my ex nice and comfy staff are friendly always ask you if your food is ok feels nice and warm nice windows for you to watch the world go by and has a spooky history food is nice but pricey that's the down side otherwise a nice little pub.
M. M.
Great service and wonderful food.
P.
A thoroughly enjoyable visit. Great pub, and atmosphere... As for the price.. I didn't pay
H. B.
Lovely little boozer. I popped in for a couple of drinks. Nice staff and clientele. Great atmosphere. Fond memories.
K. L.
Just poped in for a quick beer friendly staff and very clean. Nice selection of beers!
D. R.
Went on a Friday evening, it was packed and lively. Getting served was a bit of a pain but overall enjoyable place to pass the evening.
J. W.
Better than most pubs along Euston Road.. good selection of Ale and attracts better custom.
R. R.
Real pub! Good traditional food, Good Beers, Nice People. We spent à lovely time, thank you!
M. W.
Dropped in for a pint of Early Bird and a single Glen Livet. Perfect after a week on the grind. Efficient staff
Pleasant service. Recommended.
M. S.
A rarity in Central London nowadays...a great non-pretentious back street boozer serving great food and drinks at good prices. My favourite pub in the area.
S. H.
Great pub just one street back around Kings Cross. Not so crowded and better value
R. B. -. E. k.
Had to go up to Stevenage to the Lister Hospital with my sister.
Stopped off for a light lunch and a drink.
This is a great pub and one I would recommend.
Quite a find.
M. J.
Great pub and friendly staff, called in on our way to see Watford play West Ham and enjoyed the beer and ambiance that we went back after the game.
N. K.
Excellent pub, good beer, and good food from polite efficient staff
M. H.
Nice, clean pub - serves only Shepherd Neame ales but a wide range. Civilised!
P. S.
Pleasant environment just far enough away from the crowds but close enough to Kings X. Good selection of Shepherd Neame beers.
S. F.
Great beers good food brilliant staff who want to serve you to their best ability , and interact with you honestly interested in you who you are what you do and how they can help you .
T. P.
Nice little pub serves food ,only had a drink recommend 🙂
R. H.
Ate here twice, once for their Steak and Ale pie, and the second for the short rib. Very good food, and great ales. Plus good value!
R. F.
Good beers and nice atmosphere but very limited menu especially vegetarian.
C. M.
Grabbed a pint and some food. Food was not bad and moderately priced. Didn't have as big of an and selection as I thought it would, but overall a pleasant experience.
B. B.
Lovely pub, hidden far away from all noises from big city. Perfect for date :)
S. B.
Pleasant pub not far from the West End. Friendly service too. Food menu a little limited
G. W.
Nice food. Load of TV screens showing the footy and rugby. Good service with a smile! Thanks
B. F.
