A nice experience, came here during the Euros and decided to come back during the Masters Snooker tournament. Very nice service, and the food is decent. I had the fish and chips which came out reasonably quick and was reasonably priced. Would recommend

Terrible pint of Guinness. Not only was it badly poured but it had absolutely zero cream factor. If you can’t be bothered to make sure the drink is drinkable then don’t sell it. The food was very average. I had the pulled pork burger and it was very plain. It felt like the pulled pork was bought in and just warmed up. Staff were not very good either. This isn’t a pub, it’s a restaurant and not a very good one. And why are you taking the Christmas decorations down (during opening hours) on 30/12? Is it that hard to leave them up until the 6th January? Or are you celebrating Christmas for the decoration and not as a religious holiday?

Came with some friends for a Sunday roast. We all had the roast beef, which was absolutely delicious, and a lovely bottle of wine. Jo, our server, was friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

We came in on a Monday night and were immediately welcomed by the lovely Gosha! She made us feel so comfortable and at home, also gave us good food recommendations - we had the pig cheek starter and the Charter pie and were AMAZED! Compliments to the chef too😊 Maynard is such a lovely neighbourhood pub, we will definitely be back again and again!

Wow its not even close to describe this place and it's a shame there is no more than 5 stars we can give. From the minute we walked in we felt welcome and every second of our time was priceless! Amazing food, incredible staff and great atmosphere! This is one off those YOU MUST GO TO places and trust me when is say it.. You won't be disappointed!

I’ve been to the Maynard before for drinks, great place really big inside with a lovely outside area. Never been before for food but it always looked decent, had the roast dinner today and it was fantastic. Will certainly be coming again for this. Tasted the chicken and the beef specifically and they were cooked really well. The only issue was that there wasn’t enough room for desert (which is sad because the crumble looked good). Had to settle for an espresso martini instead 😊

Had a Sunday lunch at the Maynard Arms, thought I may have needed to book as they were very busy but I was quickly shown to a table. The food was excellent and the staff were great, I liked that I was told that my main was a bit late. Overall had a great meal and will visit again with friends.

We had a fantastic family meal yesterday, after escaping a noisy local "tap room" (always a red flag, those two words). Food isn't necessarily cheap but the portions are big and the quality of the food is outstanding. The roast beef was served with a gigantic Yorkshire pudding, what seemed to be homemade gravy, cabbage and potatoes and mash. The vegan burger justified its price tag at £15: very well presented, with fresh tomato sauce instead of cheese, and very fresh lettuce. Beer is very well priced for the tap they have. We'll be returning.

Lovely staff. Delicious food. But running out of food at 7pm on the Saturday of a bank holiday weekend doesn't seem smart! Very poor options for gluten free. The waitress was very embarrassed at how few options I had as a coeliac. Two mains available and no desserts at all. Special menu for Burger Week but didn't bother to get in any gluten free burger buns. Shame, because what we had was lovely, but my friends were mortified at the limits imposed on me.

Came for a Sunday roast which was absolutely fantastic. I'm really fussy about food but this hit every single spot. Food was tasty, everything was cooked perfectly, portions were generous and the staff were incredibly friendly. Nice pub vclose to crouch end. Dog friendly place and was brilliant giving my dog her own seat round the table. Lovely waitress. Had a roast beef dinner. Excellent quality beef, Yorkshire pud was a bit burnt and potatoes underdone slightly., but nevertheless the place was a joy to visit, nice clean toilets, a brilliant DJ and a beer garden where you can take the dogs to and relax whilst eating... Nearby grass outside to make the dogs relieve themselves. Overall lovely experience , staff and good service.. Will visit again

Great service despite being packed. Great food and drinks. I came back a few days after my first experience and was happy to find that the service and the attentiveness of the staff did not change. This pub is something special and the people that work here are really invested into the well-being of everyone that comes to dine and/or have drinks. Gosha(Gosia) is absolutely amazing and shows everyone the best experience. There’s not enough positive things that I can say about the Maynard.

They seemed to try too hard making things sound incredible on the menu, but the food just didn’t quite have the finesse. In my opinion, they’d be better off keeping the menu more simple… and doing a great job at it!

Love this pub. Beautiful and relaxed with loads of space and a beautiful beer garden. Been here numerous times and it always delivers. Super sweet and friendly staff. Last night was my first visit since covid restrictions and they made so much effort to make me feel comfortable and welcome. The food is also delicious and fresh. It has a very warm atmosphere and could easily spend hours on end in there.

Well this place is a little pricey but then it is Crouch End or, to pronounce it the French Way, 'Croosh Arened'. Beer Garden has lots of appeal. Middle class all the way, no riff raff here and does nice (middle class) sweet potato chips. All very pleasant.

I went here for my Birthday celebration and it really was a lovely place. They had a good system in regards to Covid 19, we wore face masks, had allocated seats and gave our numbers on entry felt very safe. The food was really well cooked and we all enjoyed the experience. The main highlight was that we had a lovely waitress called Ruby, she was really attentive to our needs and went the extra mile to ensure that we had drinks, food was going to plan, aided my friend who could not eat gluten and also helped my sister out. She really made the experience lovely so a massive shout out to her. I would go back again and would encourage anyone to try out this pub, it is in a lovely location, food is lovely, staff are attentive and it is a great experience.

Myself, my friend, and her young daughter visited today and had a couple of drinks and some food. The fish and chips was fantastic, I especially liked the Tartar sauce! The rib eye steak with brisket stuffed mushroom was to die for, and the mac n cheese....... Well, its mac n cheese!! = delicious!! However what really made our visit was the service provided, it was top draw, we could not fault a thing! The food was lush, the drinks went down a treat, but I would genuinely come back based on the awesome service we were given by the lovely Jess! Thank you for the hospitality, we will definitely be visiting again soon!

Another great afternoon/evening in the Maynard Arms! The staff were so helpful and even found us a table outside.. despite being quite busy on a sunny Sunday in Crouch End. After going in for one drink, myself and my other half stayed 5 rounds later into the evening. Special thanks to the manager who was kind enough to take time out and have a quick chat and sort us out with seats for the sold out comedy gig the same evening. We will definitely be back!

I popped into the Maynard for a swifty while out doing ‘the shopping’. I thought I’d treat myself to a pint after spotting a reduced bag of broccoli that looked next to as perfect a bag of broccoli as I’ve ever seen. No idea why it was reduced! I was certainly looking forward to sharing my happy story with someone. I was warmly welcomed into this homely pub by the hostess and shown to a nice table near a window. I order a lager top and set about placing my winnings on the table. I think before social distancing I might have gathered quite a crowd but unfortunately the only person who could get close enough to spot the reduced label and my bag of broccoli was the charming hostess Elle when she dropped off my drink. Needless to say she was suitably impressed, even drawing a happy face on my bill to show her delight. I will definitely be back here again next time I spot some bargain veg for a nice chat with Elle about the price of carrots. 5 stars all round.

I had a lovely couple of pints in the Maynard last week! Having moved South of the river (it's not as bad as I'd imagined), I get back to this boozer far less than I'd like. It's a strange time in pubs at the moment but we were looked after excellently from the moment of arrival by our host Elle - who ensured that the systems were clear and didn't inhibit a great pub experience. All round a lovely evening, I'll have to stray North again soon!

Lovely spacious pub. The rugby was on and there was a great atmosphere. I am only giving it 3 stars because my first two choices from the menu were unavailable and I thought the veggie burger and chips I ordered were very overpriced as was the excellent house white wine. I would recommend getting there early if you want to ensure that they have what you order. Good Guinness and decent choice of bitters.

Fairly new to the area and always on the hunt for a good local boozer. This place does all of that and more. Still running a full menu which is perfect for a greedy guts like myself and the Guiness is always tasting good. A group of six of us ate here last night. We had the veal ragu, the butternut squash and chestnut pasta, the arcincini, vegan burger and pie. We were blown away by the quality of the cooking and savoured every bite. Definitely top restaurant quality, rather than pub food. We were a party of 8 having a leaving do for a colleague, some of us had food and all of us had drinks. It was by far the best service I’ve ever had. Our server anticipated every need. I was amazed at how efficient she was and how quickly she knew what’s needed next. She definitely can read people well. This allowed us to enjoy our night out which we did very much. I am an American and I was visiting London on a whim. I decided to venture outside the touristic areas and ended up bouncing around a few pubs. I ended up at Maynard Arms just 16 minute walk from Hornsey station and fell in love with the place. The atmosphere and staff where amazing, very welcoming compared to the bars closer to central London. I will have to name Gosha in particular, she had amazing stories, about everything, took the time to teach me some London streets smarts, where to go on my next European vacation, and also thought me how to order a beer in Polish which I will remember for the rest of my life. Gosha was definitely one of the reasons I spent the rest of my night and most of my money at Maynard Arms. I 100% recommend this place to experience a genuine London night.

I remember this pub from years ago (late 80s/early 90s) when it was a dive, used to always attract trouble, now totally different, has gone upmarket like the area. Now a gastro pub. Didn't eat there but thought the prices were a bit higher than I would expect from a pub. However this I think reflects the way Crouch End has gone upmarket. Very relaxing atmosphere, nice beer garden, decent craft ales.

Lively pub, trendy Crouch End types. Serves food but finishes serving surprisingly early has outside eating area, also has outside drinking area at the front. Shows sport and has the occasional band. Good variety of beer, but like most places hereabouts is bloody expensive. It used to be much better before it became trendy to take your kids and about 5 dogs per person. At times it is difficult to carry your beers as there are so many unpredictable obstacles. Try going later in the evening - the dogs and kids disappear around 8.

Nice, dog friendly pub with a few options (burger, fish and chips and a curry) listed as vegan. Shame all of them are so high fat, could do with a nice salad / similar. Last night there that I liked the sound of which was not listed as vegan, but rather sounded as if it probably was vegan. When I asked the waiter what's in it that makes it not vegan he said it's just that it comes with bread and butter and so it would be suitable for me if I am happy to leave out the butter. I detected a degree of uncertainty in him as if he had just taken a look at it on the specials board and given me his best guess. I then asked the lady waitress who asked the chef. He told her that the bread was not vegan either. Staff need to be trained on this stuff to know exactly what they are offering and need to be warned against giving customers their best guess and instead actually bothering to check before someone who has serious intolerance comes along.

It's basically a decent bar but only really beats its nearby rivals on size and on having a garden. The food has gone dramatically downhill in recent months - an opinion echoed by my various groups of friends who dine there often. The alcohol is on the pricier side for the area too. We like this place as one of the locals and told the manager we were disappointed with the drop in quality but little has been done. Let's hope it can step up to the challenge faced by the many alternatives in the area. Because others can decide to go elsewhere when faced with mediocrity, just as we did. Which in the end is a shame.
