Reviews of Morgan Arms
P. P.
It seemed like we have arrived in the middle of pick lunchtime but staff although was short but delivered. Speedy and attentive service. We've had just a snack but food quality was great and served fast. Pub is tidy and clean. Nice atmosphere of the favourite local. Thank you
M. E.
Anywhere I go for roast I usually go for lamb or pork. This time I decided to try the roast beef for a change, and would not recommend it here. The potatoes also were not good in my opinion... The Yorkshire pudding was great though! And the service was very good too, staff was attentive and friendly at all times.

A great place to work "from Home". Hehe, don't tell the boss!! A great corner pub on the way to Hackney from Mile End. Lovely people running the pub, service is quick, jolly and polite. A selection of both cask and keg on offer. Loads of space and a variety of happy customers. All is well with the world. If not with yours, pop down here and smile again! The music alone will help.

This pub is my favourite place after work. I spend hours in here almost every week. The food and service is amazing. The staff very friendly and helpful. It has spaces inside, outside and in patio area.
Very recommended.

The Morgan Arms is a great local pub with reliably tasty food! We love the Tuesday pub quiz and have enjoyed Sunday lunches, after work lunches and Christmas lunch here with family and friends! If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit for tasty food, excellent service and a friendly (dog friendly too!!) vibe!

Went to visit for the first time with my partner and a friend this Sunday for a roast lunch and was certainly not disappointed! The staff were friendly and accommodating, the drinks were good with a decent selection of beer on tap and both the roast, trimmings, and desserts were on point.

Very attractive pub situated on the corner in this lovely location. Brilliantly friendly service and well presented inside. If you're near, it's definitely worth a visit.

Been here on a couple of occasions. Once for a quiz night. The food is great, love the Camembert! They have good beer on tap

This is a great food pub. The meal I had here was excellent and the staff were all polite and attentive. A little expensive to go for a casual drink mind, and the beer variety could be better. But great experience non the less.

Lovely Pub
Popped in on the off chance the other day, great beer selection, lovely food and really friendly staff. Had a lovely time and will definitely be back soon..

I live on the canal side of Bow and love coming over to this gastro pub even though there are many pubs much closer. So pleasantly surprised by the choice of vegan options and quality of vegan food, not just a token option as I’ve been disappointed with at other places time and time again. On top of that the staff are so warm and friendly and make you feel like a local the minute you walk in. One of my favourite pubs in London, even if it wasn’t relatively close to home. My partner is not vegan and also loves the fantastic food served here. Definitely definitely recommend :)
J. C.
Lovely pub 2 minutes from Mile End station. Service was excellent and the food was lovely. Would definitely go again!
F. M.
Lovely local pub with great food! We were really impressed with menu - more interesting than standard pub food. Lovely, welcoming staff and dog friendly!
V. L.
Lovely pub with a friendly staff. They allow animals in as well, we brought our naked cat Cleo and she had a blast
H. A.
Really nice neighbourhood pub. We only went for drinks, but next time I'll order food as well. Lovely big windows and cozy interior

Researched for best roast nearly mile end, the search came up trumps, great staff busy but very efficient, great value and great quality
C. G.
Great pub with a good set of beers and nice clean lines - bar was quick even though it was busy and it was cosy with a nice warm atmosphere
P. M.
Excellent neighborhood pub that has an ambitious menu. The grilled asparagus with Hollandaise and fried egg was great. Service was friendly and prompt. There is great beer on tap and a nice selection of whiskeys (I went for the Hibiki). Worth a visit.

On the surface, this is a really lovely gastropub - very clean, spacious, efficiently run by friendly staff... Pity that the food doesn't live up to the sleek and charming decor and the rather upmarket prices. For the second time in a row, my partner and I left relieved of £60 (no pudding, a single glass of wine for me, one pint of beer for him) having eaten a huge amount of delicious buttered bread and... well, the rest was, on both occasions, a bit of a culinary mess. Two incidents remain impressed in my memory: first, the time when I ordered a "chirashi bowl" only to discover that it was no chirashi, but rather something that I would describe as a deconstructed poke bowl with absolutely no fish in sight! Essentially, the 'dish' consisted of small lumps of boiled rice, some pickles, unappealingly unripe mango cubes and nondescript veggies in tiny quantities. Needless to say, I had to pay extra money to be served a small portion of pan-fried prawns to add to the 'chirashi/poke'. Itsu or any poke takeaway place would have charged me less than £10 and would have undoubtedly included at least two types of fish - at the Morgan Arms, the tasteless, loveless deconstructed "chirashi-not-chirashi" cost me around £20 with the prawn 'addition'. The second incident: the £9 "leek hearts"! I still cannot say what they intended to be - mostly because I could barely see them, let alone taste them! A magnifying glass (or a microscope, perhaps) would have helped. A truly heartless dish. Won't come back any time soon for food, unless they start providing the chefs with actual ingredients (beyond bread, butter and rice) that they can use for their dishes.

Best pub in Mile End. Lovely relaxing atmosphere.

A very nice local pub that serves a good range of beer and gourmet pub food.
Food standard is high and the service is good. Staff are friendly and do their best, even when it’s pretty busy.
There is a separate area for sitting in the restaurant and the bar, but you can also eat in the bar area.
Atmosphere inside is good, casual and friendly. Clean place and would recommend for food and/or a drink.
H. R.
Small pub in a residential area, well located as the street is rather quiet. It can get busy at times (Friday night, weekend). But is otherwise usually not too much. A large amount of table in the dining area, the food selection is everything you can expect from an English pub, all the classics are present. I had the burger and it was ok but not grand (the patties were thin and a bit too industrial to my taste). The brownie was absolutely great! Good selection of ales/beers (nothing too crazy).

Wonderful!! I've given five golden sparkly stars for the Morgan Arms in Bow tucked around the back streets of Mile End/Bow! I took my very elderly Dad there last weekend. We were welcomed with really kind assistance by the Manager who helped us from our car door right to the table - and made our experience so comfortable and easy. It's a stylish place, light and airy and the food was FANTASTIC. A very tasty, hearty, home-made Chicken Charter Pie with amazing mash and cabbage - so filling we couldn't manage a desert. The new decor is tasteful - its a really lovely place to sit, eat and drink but most of all we appreciated the friendly support from the Manager and the lovely waiter who served us. Five Golden Stars - we shall be going back!

The Morgan arms is a gastropub offering a great menu filled with super tasty sounding options, fantastic interior with big windows and lovely staff. They also have a sitting area outside perfect for enjoying warm sunny days. We went there for a Sunday roast which did not disappoint ! (I'd recommend making a booking beforehand as it does tend to get busy over the weekends). I followed our starter of sourdough bread with pork belly - it was a big portion which came with all the usual trimmings. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and the gravy really married the dish together, it was delicious! I ended the dinner with a nutella fondant which I don't think I'll ever be able to forget - it was amazingly rich (not too rich, although I do have a massive sweet tooth so if you don't I'd probably go for a lighter option!) and literally to die for. I walked away a very happy and full girl.

Good covid measures and attentive staff. Very slightly disappointed with my main course (pan fried seabass) as it was luke warm but husbands meal was lovely. We would go back.
S. R.
Great food. I had the seabass which was absolutely delicious

Stopped off after a long walk. Great atmosphere and friendly people. We also had our dog and he was more than welcome. The manager made us feel very welcome indeed! Great Sunday afternoon!
R. G.
Really good food, good service, nice pub!
Roasts were awesome! Pork crackling was particularly nice. The squid starter was also delicious.
Good beer. Nice staff. Definitely recommend.
J. J.
Very nice pub and restaurant. The food is excellent, as are the staff. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals, including several vegetarians. It's only missing out on five stars because the food so expensive.

Nice little pub.

Lovely staff offering attentive service, could not do enough for you. The pie is one of my favourite comfort dishes in London.
Top marks and will be back for sure!

I love the melted cheese dish. Spanish lady serving us was soo nice
D. F.
Beautiful food, love coming here and just chilling out for a bit. London is hectic but Morgan Arms ain’t.
R. G.
Just an average boozer on my view. Food I did not feel was the best. I ordered a steak sandwich and it was undercooked as they did not ask how I wanted it. Also portion size I feel was lacking. Staff are nice and helpful. Bar is also very sparse as if it a spare attic room that been done out with a pump under the bar.
A. C.
Great gastro pub! Have been for Sunday lunch and an evening meal and both have been fab! Staff are friendly and accommodating the food has been tasty and good value in my opinion - big portions sizes.
R. G.
Such a great place. Bar staff super friendly and helpful gave great recommendations for lots of gin! Sunday lunch outstanding the best I had on my last trip to the Uk and I’m from Yorkshire so I’m a harsh critic! Amazing traditional English food house made sausage rolls were delicious. Thank you to lovely Steven and the team I will be back!
B. P.
Nice friendly bar with a good pint
C. &. D.
Very much our local and the food/service is always more gastro pub than standard. A home away from home.
M. H.
One of the good pubs out in the east end. Great beers but not much seating outside for when it is sunny. It's recommended to visit however the food wasn't tried at this establishment. The staff were polite and helpful when selecting a beer. Tasters were given.
H. T.
Lovely friendly pub, great decor! Camden Pale on tap 👍
V. L.
One of the best Sunday roast I've had in a long time.
K. B.
We had a fab meal last week, Frankie who looked after us was fab and made our experience even better!
The vegan burger is incredible, I nearly sent it back because I couldn’t believe it wasn’t meat !
P. K.
A great local pub with a wide range of drinks and an impressive menu. The staff are always friendly and attentive. It isn't cheap, but then really good food never is. Two families with restaurant backgrounds from both sides of the Atlantic were very satisfied.
A. D.
First time going and I think our whole group were happy. It's got a little gastro pub vibe at the back and the food was decent and I'd argue reasonably priced. It was pretty busy though it was a Saturday night. Still a good sign.
I had a pretty good burger and everyone agreed that the fries were really good. I think the ladies enjoyed their aubergine burgers too.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't really ask for more! I'd recommend it.
H. G.
The Morgan Arms is one of 3 locals for me and I love it! I took my parents there for dinner last night and can't fault anything. The staff are all super lovely, knowledgeable and attentive. The chef is amazing and consistently inventive without being pretentious. And the atmosphere is friendly and it has a real community vibe without being unwelcoming to non-regulars. Just lovely!
A. G.
I was once a regular many years ago so when I was back in the old manor I took the opportunity to visit one of my old haunts really hoping it was still as good as I remembered... I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The bar still has a great feel, I only had a starter as a snack but that was good and all the staff where super friendly and nice. I need to venture east more often, well done guys!
S. B.
Love The Morgan Arms! It’s got a really great atmosphere, drinks prices are fair and food is super tasty.
O. B.
Great bar, good atmosphere, lots of seating and they've improved the range of real ales since I last visited. Plus they have board games. I still feel that the prices are a little too high though; they're about average prices for a fairly up market place in zone 1, but this place is all the way out in zone 2. You're looking at around £4.30 for a pint, but I feel a more reasonable price would be £3.90. It's big pub though, so the prices are probably that high to cover the rent.
J. C.
Overall a nice pub. Great atmosphere and selection of beers and wines. The Morgan was our go-to pub for food in the area; although following 4 consistently poor meals we don’t tend to eat there anymore.
On all occasions chips haven’t been cooked properly, meat had either been overcooked or dry and the portions have been small. We prefer to drink at the Morgan and eat at The Lord Tredegar.
C. B.
This is a pleasant old pub on a pretty residential street. The décor is quite quirky and comfortable. Half of the pub is set aside as a restaurant and the food is very good. Beer prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. Great for dinner or a pint after work
S. G. A.
The food was great, the ambience was lovely, and the seatings provide high chairs so that I can put my baby seated properly! The gap between serving the appetiser, main, and desert was just right. Definitely will order the chocolate brownie again.
L. O.
I have been coming here for just over 5 years and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience here at all! The food is always amazing and All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.today I missed out on a wonderful roast but I decided on the burger instead which I’m happy to say was excellent! I could pick Anything from the menu and know I am going to enjoy it.
C. W.
It's okay. Quite busy but we managed to get a table. I enjoyed my Gammaray beer. Way overpriced food - when a burger is £13, I'd expect meat good enough to be cooked less than well-done. A bit noisy because of overly loud ambient music.
J. D. K.
Great local pub serving a good selection of local beers and gastropub grub. Very popular and can get very busy so booking is recommended. They have the slightly irritating policy of having different bar and restaurant menus which means that you can't order a burger in the restaurant, but otherwise a highly recommended boozer.
P. A.
Fantastic Sunday lunch! One of the best I've ever had. Good meat, full of flavour and with interesting vegetables (a really tasty puree, that we couldn't quite identify, and cooked beetroot), rich gravy and perfectly cooked potatoes. 10/10 would recommend.
A. P.
Very nice local gastropub, short walk from mile end tube. Good music, descent draft beer selection (neck oil, Camden pale, and local brewery ones). Very happy with the food, we tried the baked camembert and the flat iron chicken.
R. W.
Pricey but dog friendly with an interesting menu and a better than average wine list. Good airy interior and an adequate number of tables outside make this an attractive place to stop when out walking the dogs.
M. H.
Decent burger and I had some delicious natural wine. I normally have beers but I stuck with it all night. Great atmosphere, but recommend booking or coming early as it gets busy.
L. C.
Visited this pub many times. Great staff who are very patient with some seriously rude aggressive customers. I would be hard pressed to contain myself with some of the aggressive situations I have seen.. staff are cool helpful and funny. Shame the same can't be said about some of the abrasive corrosive and obnoxious customers.
A. V.
Overall a good experience. It was a busy evening and although there was initially some confusion as we were booked into the bar section rather than the restaurant, we were quickly shown to a table in the restaurant. Unfortunately the server wasn’t knowledgable of the drinks available, so I ended up getting a beer I wouldn’t have chosen had I known what else was on offer! Still, no biggie.
Most frustratingly, we were told after ordering that both our main courses were unavailable - fine, we chose something else. No problem. However, the table next to use who ordered roughly 20 minutes after us, requested the same meal as me and I was shocked to see that meal arrive at their table after being told they’d run out just an hour before. Very confusing! And it looked rather delicious.
E. W.
Good drinks, very friendly staff, good atmosphere and food and the prices are absolutely okay. 4 stars because I found the interior could have been a little cosier (more sofas instead of chairs maybe) and you cannot take your drinks outside for a smoke after 10pm.
But this is complaining on a very high level.
R. B.
Lovely atmosphere. I haven:t been in ages, this visit was different. Music not so loud, easy to talk, not so busy (Thursday night). Food great. Cheers.
F. d. T.
Great place. Very homely and good food. Fantastic staff.
s. c.
Recently visited this pub and enjoyed a fantastic evening out. The staff, especially the bar manager, were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable on their food and the huge range of beers.
Would highly recommend this pub to anyone in the area and hope to be back soon.:)
O. C.
Excellent gastropub. Food was absolutely fantastic! Excellent value for money. Very efficient booking service at last minute. Friendly staff.
B. G.
I had the beef roast here. It is really expensive for what you get.
They could knock a few quid off this and it would definitely be in higher demand, but for me it's a one off. I would pay the same elsewhere for a bigger portion, so I'll try a few more places in the area.
Staff were helpful. But it did seem like a pub only people in the few surrounding streets would frequent.
D. C.
Great place to enjoy your Sunday roast. Choices include chicken, roast beef and pork belly with vegetable sides and gravy. Great atmosphere with best service.
J. H.
Great food and service, highly recommend!
S.
A really nice gastropub with good atmosphere and great service.
The food is flavorful, well cooked and beautifully presented, and not too expensive either!
They also have a good selection of board games, including cards against humanity!
Warmly recommend.
J. H.
Pretty good food, slightly overpriced but that's fairly common in gastro-pubs. The drinks selection is pretty good too. All in all a very nice pub.
S. T.
My best local pub! You can eat delicious fish and chips with cheap but good beer. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is always here if you need help to choice what you want to eat or drink.
T. S.
Thoroughly disappointing tart. Small enough to be a starter, soggy texture and a dull side salad. Not worth close to £14! Roast looked much better though and the chips were lovely. The plates were cleared away by a waiter who asked how the food was and who then immediately answered "delicious, gorgeous". No!
w.
Went for a dinner in couple without booking on a Saturday night (very brave!) and they were able to provide us with a nice table very shortly. The place was almost completely booked and it's clear that it's a favourite place for locals, very known in its own area. A very nice and quick girl got our orders and advised about ingredients as I can't eat some things, luckily didn't seem a big problem to take off what I couldn't have. We ordered charcuterie as starter and mains were ribeye steak and special burger. Food was nice and well served, the burger was slightly smaller than the average, nonetheless filling. Prices of the mains are totally fine, starters are a bit expensive, but definally the plate is worth the try.
I'll definally go back with friends and family, very cozy and lovely experience.
M. “. T.
Fancy pub that while pretty tries a little too hard. Drinks and food are on the pricey end and it's packed in the evenings and frequently at weekends. Don't expect any vegan or vegetarian options, there's nothing they won't fry in beef dripping for that gastropub feel.
C. B.
This is a well run pub offering excellent food and bags of character. There is always a friendly buzz and strangers are made to feel really welcome in this East End traditional pub. Only a few hundred yards of the main drag its well worth a slight detour. May pay to book!
G. J. M.
Lovely local pub within walking distance from us, always a great vibe in here. Plus they have great Cornish ales on tap. The bar staff can work a bit more on their beer knowledge, this can be a hit & miss. Crowds are mainly local, young professionals and the "trendy mature"(??). I'd say the food price is a bit pricey for a pub, but all of the gastropubs around this area are...and you will definitely get the money's worth! Highly recommended for a small gathering for sunday roast or a low-key mid-week pint.
W. B.
A good standard gastropub. Sunday lunch is good, dinner is good throughout the week and a good selection of beers. The decor is very finished and the staff are very friendly. Can get a bit busy in the evening so think about booking for dinner.
A. B.
Popped in for a quick drink captain Morgan with lemonade had a lovely chat to the bar people. Cheers
J. W.
Outstanding food, good range of beers in this well known gastropub. If eating it is worth reserving a table as it is busy most nights. I'm lucky to have this as a local though it isn't cheap
A.
I'm of two minds when it comes to recommending great places in Mile End. On one hand, I really want to see these places flourish and prosper ... On the other, I want to continue being able to find a seat at the locals in my 'hood.
Should you visit The Morgan? Short answer: yes! It's a fantastic pub that straddles the line between East End boozer and hip gastropub. The atmosphere is local and friendly and manages to remain cozy while offering ample seating.
Food is in the 'slightly-pricey-yet-worth-it' category. Foodies will likely be able to find something to satisfy, whilst not alienating anyone who simply wants to tuck in to classic pub fare.
Unlike many local options, however, the beer selection is certainly above the crowd. The bar stocks several solid English brews, as well as a rotating tap of craft options, with a wider selection of cans and bottles in the fridge. The beer snob in me is pleased ... while the growing Londoner is more than a little peeved at having to drop over £5 on a pint of bitters.
In summary ... Please do visit The Morgan Arms. Just ... maybe don't tell all of your friends.
O. P.
We have visited the Morgan arms and were very impressed with both the service and the food .
We had the Smoked haddock and vegan burger - which were delicious
They have a good range of beers and wines and the atmosphere is great .
N. R.
A tad pricey, but one of the best pubs in the area.
Old comfy sofas and a very welcoming local vibe (not in the "spit & sawdust" sense).
Good for a relaxing pint, or a Sunday lunch.
S. B.
Two things that make a great pub, the food and the staff. I don’t know which one is better in The Morgan Arms. Super smooth service and the food was delicious! We will be back soon
N. H.
Bright open gastro pub with typical pub grub.
A. E.
Decent modern pub, but can get very busy on a weekend or when there's sport on. Also, it's very foodie: it can be hard to find a table that's not reserved if you just want to pop in for a pint.
J. W.
A fantastic little pub, kind of hidden away but still popular. A very local crowd and brilliant bar staff, always willing to chat if they can and always very smart ond professional at the same time. Some great ales and the food is amazing, not what you would expect from what it looks like.
L. M.
Good, creative menus change regularly. Portions could be bigger, or the price slightly smaller. I don’t eat deserts but normally still hungry after 2 courses here.
J. E.
I have been to the Morgan Arms for lunch, dinner or drinks for more than 10 years. It remains the premier gastropub in Bow, despite recent competition. Having had lunch today, I report good, friendly ambience with excellent food and service. Highly recommended.
J. G.
Best roast I've found in east London. Decent range of drinks, perhaps a little too busy at times but generally a relaxed atmosphere. Worth the detour.
D. S.
Fantastic food, and the menu changes regularly.
They say "we don't do fast food, we do good food as quickly as we can." which pretty much sums it up.
Generally young local crowd, and the staff are always friendly and chatty.
D. D.
One of my favourite places in the East End for Sunday lunch with the family, but also a lovely bar in the evenings for a date or a catch up with friends. Friendly staff, nice chilled atmosphere, great food, great beer selection.
D. M.
Lovely little pub, prices acceptable for the area & the beer is well kept & served. Outside benches for summer supping. As a footnote, if you vape you can do it here.
J. L.
I simply miss this place a lot. Enjoyable moments guaranteed by a friendly staff, nice food and a great atmosphere in general.
I. C.
Did a bit of research and found this place walking distance from Mile End station. Sunday roast was a little overdone otherwise it would be so good, both salad were absolutely fantastic. But do give them a call if you want to go just incase they are closed for events.
C. H.
Wonder down the streets of the historic east end. A short walk from Mile End tube station you will find a cute eastend pub with a traditional Sunday roast. The friendly barman will offer you an eastend banter with fabulous cockney accents, always music to the ears of a west end girl. Not so much my style for interior decoration but the food and staff make up for that creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
C. B.
Decent pub in an area lacking real choice. Looks lovely from the outside but the inside smacks of trying to hard with a mismatch of seating and tables in different styles. Good for drinks but the food is way too pricey. If they dropped the price point on each dish by £3-4 then I would eat here often but as they suffer little competition I guess they can get away with it.
T. J.
Had my birthday party at the Morgan Arms last night, superb food, attentive staff and the kitchen and whole team coped really well with there being 20 of us - nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic time had by all.
f. r.
Great meal. Fish and chips in restaurant..but London prices..14.99.
Small outside sitting area.
Around 10 mins walk from Bow Rd or Mile End tube stations.
J. K.
I have been going to this pub for nigh on 40 years. I love it. The selection of beer is great and the food is very good.
J. l. 1.
Another great pub thats been going in the area for many years, nice chilled out chatty little boozer. Bar staff are friendly and welcoming. I should pop in there more offten.
M. S.
Traditional east end pub with a bistro vibe ....excellent food and service. ..staff went above and beyond, great team. ..we were celebrating with the family. ..I will definitely be back with family for a meal
S. P.
Surprising local style pub, tucked into the suburban streets near Mile End Station. Good restaurant section but could use vegan options. Nice wine. Will go back.
p. “. m.
Great food and lovely atmosphere
S. P.
Lovely to sit down and relax with a cold drink and tasty food
R. G.
Great gastro pub with excellent sunday roasts. While the service is great there's confusion over where exactly is the table service is. Otherwise local and decent crowd and a nice weekend hangout.

There's a shortage of good pubs and restaurants in Bow, but this is an exception to the rule. Frequented mostly by good humored young professionals and friendly staff, it's always very busy, and often difficult to find a seat. The food and drinks are good, if a touch on the the pricey side, but a good pub to take the parents and in-laws. Has an impossible pub quiz.
S. G.
A gorgeous pub slightly off the beaten track with a fun, lively atmosphere, great staff and delcious food.
N.
Nice pub. Good beer, good food.
Granted, went there at lunchtime, but enjoyed it.

I've just left Morgan Arms and I am really disappointed with the unfair strategy to attract customers. They put a paper on the window offering 30% discount on mondays to wednesday, valid untill today, 04th December. I have asked about the discount before order, but they didn't give the discount. As I was waiting for a long time to seat, and it was late, of course I won't leave the place. But for me this is not honest. Its a shame that a place like Morgan Arms need to do this kind of unfair marketing. I mentioned the paper and the answer that I received was that thEey are on Christmas season. Fair enough. They could just have taken the paper out of the window.
Update in 24th January 2020.
Steven offered us a dinner in a gesture to apologise. We really appreciate the attitude, because we know that mistakes can happen and it's important to see actions to solve them.
We would like to thank you Steven and we hope that Morgan Arms' standards keep in this high level.

Been here a few times for Sunday lunch and for beers, good atmosphere with live sport on however beer seemed quite expensive here even more so than central London - food is good and staff seemed friendly and laid back
A. O.
Great Sunday lunch, full of variety and flavour. Meal obviously cooked and prepared with absolute care. Wonderful, bright atmosphere.
G. T.
Perfect mix between fancy modern gastro pub and neighborhood pub.
Staff super welcoming and super friendly.
4 starts only because I don't want them to think they reached the top
J. L.
One of the best pubs around the east end, great choice of ales, larger and wine. Amazing food and atmosphere. Great quality all round
T. L.
Always great service in the restaurant. Love that you have a mix of local eastenders as well as the newbies that have moved into the area, in the bar. Never any trouble.
M.
Great Sunday lunch, full of variety and flavour. Meal obviously cooked and prepared with absolute care. Wonderful, bright atmosphere. Would visit again.
J. S.
Remember visiting in my youth......many moons ago. Loved the pub now and staff most friendly on the recent. Food great. Will return 🍺🥂🍟
L. C.
My great local. Staff have always been friendly and the steak is near consistently brilliant. Standard gastro pub format, but a great local.
j. e.
I ordered the seabass with chorizo, little spuds and samphire - it was excellent. Lovely pub and staff too.
A. B.
A nice pub with a nice atmosphere. I will certainly revisit to try the food. The service was good.
G. D.
Absolutely love this place. Great selection of beers, wine is great, staff are really friendly and always really accommodating of my Guide Dog. Love it, love it, love it.
A. W.
Great Sunday lunch - big hunk of chicken, excellently cooked veg, great pint of bitter on the side.
A. G.
Nice pub with a restaurant. Food is generally good but the menu doesn't change very often and choice is limited for vegetarians.
M. R.
Just sit back and enjoy yourself.... Tried to pop in there for a pint (end of 2018) but tragically it was closed for the afternoon. Reason: Morgan Freeman was filming there. So Morgan in the Morgan.... True.. you can't make this stuff up. Now that is product placement.
S. H.
Best pub in the East End. Great beers with a constant variety and kept well. Friendly staff and great food. Well worth a visit.
J. P.
A friendly, quirky, attractive little neighbourhood pub on one of the best streets in E3. Staff are always very friendly, and sitting outside on a nice afternoon is a joy. A brilliant little pub that I'm very fond of.

I have been living in London for two years now and this quaint little boozer is by far the best place in town, the vibe, food and drinks are all outstanding and make for an amazing trip every time.
J.
The Sunday roast was alright, could have been better if they stewed the vegetables longer. Cosy environment, good venue.
D. R.
Lovely pub, nice food, great atmosphere, really safe feeling, even out late, but it is a touch expensive.
L. C.

A bit on the expensive side but nevertheless a good all round pub. Gets very busy in the evening so there's not much room to sit unless you are eating
J. S.
Popped in for a Sunday afternoon drink. Very pleasant atmosphere. Good selection of beers.
C. W.
Very much emerged as the best pub in E3 during the pandemic. Eat Out 2 Help Out.

B. S.
Nice friendly backstreet local pub. Regularly changing guest ales. Good food.
K. Z.
Staff is friendly and they have some boardgames available (not many, just 4 I think) for free.
Aside from that, it's your standard pub... they used to have a pub quiz on Tuesdays (which what I initially went there for), but it's not running at the moment.
UPDATE (20-06-2017): Starting today, the pub quiz is running again!
S. C. H.
If changing rooms did pubs

Amazing pub. A bit pricey, but hands down the best kitchen around and honestly among the best I tried in London. A bit pricey, but it’s worth it. Nice selection of beers and great atmosphere!

Popped in for late brunch with daughter. Busy. No reservation but was given the outside garden table available. Sunny with a chill. Good they have outside heater. Was told to order inside mentioning our table #. Ordered sunday roast pork belly for daughter and short rib and flanked burger for myself. A bit of self service as was given 2 glass with ice and was told tap water bottle is just on the side for us to bring and my pint of lager 😍 Food overall was good except for the fries (menu states skin on but its not). Serving portion alright. Tried as well a pint of local lager. Staff accommodating. Place has outside seating as well overlooking main street and zebra crossing. Nice local pub on its own. Will try to book next time to compare the experience of seating inside for a better review and experience. Will be back.

(Translated) Looks like a nice neighborhood pub with beer and football on big screens. But towards the end of the immense hall, at the corner of a nook, an exceptional restaurant of a copious local cuisine and very controlled. We dined for less than £ 20 per person (without wine) a nice slice of veal liver on a bed of mashed potatoes and topped with a flowing duck egg, a skewer of monkfish with mushrooms and tomatoes, of a perfectly cooked sirloin steak (rare) with fresh green beans "al dente" rolled in butter. A very varied cheese platter (matured cheddar but also ewe and English blue) accompanied by an original salad mixing young shoots, beet chips, onion, celery.Terminons with a heavenly crumble (pear, apple, slightly caramelized rhubarb). A young and attentive team accompanied us in this memorable evening. Only (small) defect, hardiness: no tablecloth, paper towels, the basket of bread (English) is paid and on request.
(Original)
