Reviews of Norfolk Arms

This is an absolute gem near Kings Cross.
Options of either tapas or main courses. Decent selection of wine. Lovely staff and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Really nice pumpkin risotto and crab, delicious cheese and the food was lovely and hot and tasty!!
Thank you!
Takes American Express.
M. L.
Fantastic food as always. Good selection of wine and beer. Charming atmosphere, peak Bloomsbury! Friendly waiters, quick service, nothing more one could ask for!
A. D.
I’d gone here for many years with friends before moving to the States. Happy to see it hasn’t changed through lockdown. The tapas are just as good as they were on my last visit 3 years ago.
L. g.
Booked a table at 5pm for 8pm and they were happy to have us! Managed to give us a lovely table for 2 outside and the staff were super attentive. Food is INCREDIBLE - I’ve not had tapas as good as this anywhere in London! Reasonably priced and wines are fantastic! Been 3 times in the last 6 weeks and won’t be long until we’re back! Definitely a hidden gem and well worth a visit ! Many thanks!
S. E.
The perfect place for an foodie date - warm, charming surroundings and fantastic staff. The food is incredible - stunning fresh twists on classic mediteran fare. Beautiful quality tapas. Just really gorgeous food. Its pricey - but it's a classy joint so it's worth the treat.
N. C.
The standard of food and service here is simply exceptional. Atmosphere relaxed and feels like a small part of Spain 🇪🇸in London. Or at least it does if you order from the tapas menu. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely return.
a. b.
I try and come here whenever I make a trip into London. The food is so good, it’s a really great place to spend an hour or two eating and drinking and relaxing. Highly recommended.
N. R.
Big fan of this place. The tapas were fabulous and the service friendly. It’s good to have a go-to place for food or drink near Kings Cross, and this is definitely mine!
B. M.
Lovely food, decent service.
H. K.
Like the pub, haven't tried the food yet. But looks like worth trying. Good service
D.
Fantastic tapas. Great choice, absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly & remembered us from a previous visit. Would highly recommend
M. P.
When you know you gotta go back to try the rest of the menu
n.
Always a great visit! Food is excellent, would like to see some more veg options on the main menu, but can always pick a few extra tapas as well!
J. C.
We shared such a good meal here yesterday, the food was incredible and I would highly recommend this hidden gem. From the outside I wasn't sure, but it really is worth heading indoors and trying their amazing tapas menu.
n. n.
The place looks super nice and old-ish (in a classy way), as drinks - mostly wine and some comercial beers (nothing craft/local). The menu "sounds" very good, mediteranean cuisine, small plates, etc. Unfortunately, the cuisine opens after 6PM :((( so couldn't actually try any of them :(( Other than that, the 2 young Italian bartenders were nice, but not very customer oriented (mostly minding their own business and talking amongst themselves).
G.
Great place for Sunday Roast!
K. A.
Love this place! Delicious food (with plenty of veggie options) and patient, friendly and attentive service (even on a busy Friday night). Looking forward to our next visit already...
R. H.
Great hospitality. Authentic, tasty tapas. good value, buzzy atmosphere. Would I go back- yes.
D. S.
Walking around trying to find some late food when we spotted the Norfolk Arms. Accomodating, friendly and efficient. The Tapas style food was lovely - thank you.
K. J.
Just moved to area, very nice pub with good interior. Went for lunch, food was very well presented and generous portion size (Turkey schnitzel). Was a fairly pricey but to be expected in central London.
J. R.
We stopped in here for a drink and snack and was great. Nice atmosphere. Friendly people good quality food.
C. A.
Ate here for the first time on Friday night and would highly recommend a visit, the food was perfection and the service even better, really lovely staff and atmosphere.
L. B.
Great treat to find such a good tapas place near our hotel. Online reservations a plus.

❤️ I love visiting pubs all across London because of their history, architecture, characters and most importantly that feeling you get when you are in good pub. The exterior of The Norfolk Arms is striking with beautiful Victorian tiles and lanterns, so thats a couple of boxes ticked! So I popped inside to have a pint and made my way to the bar and ordered a beer. As I looked around it was clear that this is a restaurant not a pub or gastropub even, which is fair enough so I didn’t get that pub feeling. I went and sat outside on a bench to enjoy my pint and reflect on my visit. I suppose this pub may have been saved from closure by the current owners and they are maintaining this gorgeous looking pub by serving good food which should be applauded. I can’t help feeling there once was a beating heart of the community here which would have ticked all the boxes.

Off the train from the New Forest tonight. Came here on a recommendation. Loved the tapas staff friendly, great sat outside in a quiet street in the middle of London... Portuguese beer on draft.... A Perfect evening!!
K.
Christmas Party! Yes if you need a quiet function room. No if you want to enjoy the Christmas meal. The pub is ok... we had a party on the first floor. The stairs looks horrible... like you are in some kind old abandoned building. No music provided in the room. No wine glass!!! Christmas menu sounds quite fancy...but portions are really small! Some ordered veggies Wellington and it was a bit of a joke. It was a pastry cut in half with warmed pesto sauce on side. It could be a starter but not a main dish! Some people didn't like Christmas cake and they couldn't swap for anything else as the dishes were made to order with nothing left. The cheesecake although not much cheesecaky...was nice.
We had a good time...however as a Christmas dinner for £25 - it's a noooo!!!!
r. c.
Dropped in for a quick drink. Great atmosphere with friendly staff.
N. V.
Had a great evening at Norfolk Arms. Amazing and kind staff, delicious snacks to go with amazing drinks. Will visit again and highly recommended.
S. B.
Spanish dried meat dish was fantastic along with a 1664 Kronenbourg delightful
G. R.
Go for the small plates and the good wine. On a Friday lunchtime this pub turned restaurant was busy with everything from tables for two to a group of eight. There is lovely sherry, wine, beer and the food covers great meat, fish and vegetable options. I haven't tried the main meals but the vegetarian stuffed butternut squash looked incredible.
s. c.
A friend had been here years ago and recommended it but even she was unaware of the broad and brilliant menu. she had the tapas: each were amazing, and I had the Sunday roast beef, a very good and clean dish with a good portion size but not too large (I'm a fairly big eater). The Dorset crab starter (with ginger and small amounts of fresh chilli) is amazing! service was great too, will be back soon!
F. P.
Excellent tapas and friendly service, a very pleasant atmosphere.
P. B.
Little more expensive but definitely pays of!! Delicious food, great beer, not that crowded. Place got a nice atmosphere.
R. J.
Lovely range of Tapas dishes including plenty of vegi options. Decor inside and out is interesting. Staff were friendly. Loos clean and fresh smelling. Quite quiet Monday lunchtime. Staff were friendly. Prices are ok - 4 tapas, 1 bottle house red, 2 coffees came to £60. Service is included in the price.
L. N.
This is a popular cosy spot with delicious tapas. The dishes vary in size but 3 dishes (¥= up to 4) is plenty. The chorizo in cider is amazing and a very generous portion size so I'd really recommend that. The staff could have been a little friendlier and more on it about my nut allergy but the food won me over! The wine menu offered 4 - 5 by the glass and the rest as bottles which is pretty normal. I didn't check out the beer selection this time around but I'd recommend this place for tasty treats :).
C. S.
Nice pub that serves tapas. They have a good selection of vegetarian tapas options too. Downstairs there is the pub area, as well as having benches outside and around the pub. Upstairs they have private dining rooms. We were here for a work dinner, and had very friendly service and a lovely, big private room.
P. H.
The menu is not big for the main dishes which is a good sign. I have taken the chicken, it was good. People are nice.
C.
Came here for 3 times and love the food here! The oysters were creamy and juicy. Herring, croquettes and Greek sausage were all delicious and perfectly cooked. The only thing that I didn't like was the wine list. The selection of wine wasn't good and there were not a lot of choices for beers.
A. W.
Nice local pub for us sopping a few days in camden
C. G.
Spanish themed restaurant with friendly service..
J. O.
They were awesome! Used the place as a birthday venue for a family member and they couldn't have been more hospitable. The tapas set menu was delicious (would be nice to have some of their more interesting dishes included) and the staff was amazingly friendly. Highly recommend it!
E. S. S.
Lovely pub, a haven just five minutes walk from Kings Cross. The restaurant has a great menu with a mix between main courses and smaller sharing dishes. Later in the evening, a good atmosphere for drinks, with plenty of heated outdoor seating. A bit pricey, but as expected for the area.
A. W.
Superb as always. Great ambience with beautifully simple, sumptuous food. I recommend the garlic prawns, chorizo like you've never tasted and the blue cheese and salted caramel ice cream. Be sure to order glasses of vin Santo to accompany the latter two dishes!
M. B. H.
Very friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and a great selection of small plates or main plates. I had the stuffed pumpkin and loved every bite of it. Good selection of beers and wines as well as liqueurs. I would definitely go again.
Z. E. B.
Went back to this small Spanish, tapas-focused, restaurant bar after visiting previously with a friend. This time I went for a fish main course which just hit the spot.
The tapas menu provides plenty of choices for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The Norfolk Arms has an extensive wine list and friendly waiting staff. Will go back.
F. O.
The food here is exquisite. Tapas meets gastro pub. The dishes are really generous and the staff delightful. There was so much food, they gave us take away boxes. I will be back :)
D. P.
We stopped here by chance. They happened to have room to squeeze us in between reservations for dinner. The pork chop dinner was excellent. My wife had the cod. Thanks to the hostess for suggesting an addition of potatoes, it was the perfect side, and just enought to top off the meal.
We may not be used to ales served here in UK just yet, so the beer was a bit warm to our tastes.
A. G.
Great selection of tapas and good IPA on draught. Will definitely eat and drink thete again soon. 5 stars if the bar service was quicker and the tapas menu showed which food suitable for vegans.
P. K.
They serve great tapas
M. T.
7 of us went this evening. booked a few days in advance and got a table. great staff. food is a good mix of veggie and non tapas. quality is pretty average - nothing outstanding with a few poor dishes. patatas bravas disappointing, as was beer choice
S. H.
I've eaten here a couple of times and never been disappointed with the food, but the austere surroundings and kurt service let the place down. There are plenty of better Spanish restaurants around.
As a pub they can't look after the beer at all, so don't bother dropping in for a pint.
H. F.
Incredible tapas in an authentic neighborhood pub. The old world fixtures and hams in the window wrap and smooth the happy sounds of patrons as they sample the yummies. Some of the reviews here pointed out a few stumbles in the past... but the five dishes I had were all excellent and I only wish I could have eaten more. I think we have to realize that a restaurant that's in it for the long run, and there were a number of regulars at the bar eating dinner I talked to, will learn from all the reviews. Unqualified yes from me. What you want from a neighborhood place in this grande city. BTW the truffle desserts are some of the best I've had.
P. W.
Quite a nice London pub on the way to Kings Cross. Beer was good, food was good (tapas), there's seating outside. If it looks busy when you go in you may still be able to get a seat in the less frequented upstairs area. Quite pricey for a pub anywhere outside of London but average for the smoke I guess. Beer is about £5-6 per pint.
M. S.
I've only drank here, not eaten. The bitter and IPA weren't particularly well kept, but the service was friendly and there's plenty of outdoor seating. I come back to this place simply because it's convenient for the northern-heading stations. A bit over £4 for two halves, if I remember correctly.
O. H.
Whenever I go anywhere I try to eat authentic to the country I'm in, the concierge at the hotel recommended this place as he went there often himself, good enough for me! And the place was unique, at first looking like a normal pub but their menu was very local to the UK. Definitely a place to recommend for a casual yet real meal in London
C. S.
We stumbled across this pub by accident and it was a great find. We were seated quickly despite having no reservation on a busy evening. This place pulls off authentic Spanish tapas in traditional English pub surroundings.
S. M.
Tapas bar with large selection of small plates, good wine and friendly staff.
R.
Very tasty food, made with care. The interior is not overwelming different /Amazing, the waiters are truly "Spanish" (very busy, you almost have to wave to get their attentoin, but they are kind when they serve you). Just good tapas (which is actually often hard to find.
Probs to the desert (salted caramel sesame ice cream and baklava): Just the right amount of sweetness.
R. S.
Bit disapppointing - menu looks great but food is a bit of a let down. Looks like a lovely old Victorian pub from the outside but inside the decor is quite plain if a little dirty. Beer tasted a bit off, even when re-poured. Toilets were immaculate but downstairs smells damp. Could be a lot better. Interesting fact though - the shop front from Black Books the TV comedy is right opposite!
J. B.
It's ok, but just. As fancy as the tapas sound and look, I found them to be disappointing. The flavours weren't exciting and the meat ones were not good at all. Instead of succulent meat, you get very very chewy and dry pieces of meat. I'd return for a drink if in the area, but not to eat. If you want tapas, go to Soho.
V. K.
Mix up with the date of my online booking had me concerned about whether I'd have a table (despite email confirmation of the date booked). Manager (Charlie) made it up to us in light of this confusion and the worry it caused - which I want to commend. Food was great - esp re the amount of choice available (tapas and mains). Would def recommend. Book in advance and call and confirm on the day (just to be sure).
M. B.
Having been here twice recently, the Norfolk Arms has quickly become one of my essential, go-to places. In the whole Kings Cross area there is nothing quite like it: a genuinely relaxed and low key gastro pub churning out quality food at reasonable prices. It's a hugely enjoyable, classy but unstuffy place to have lunch. The cuisine is unpolished but generous and delicious. Both times I have had pate followed by pasta and ragu and both times it has been large and completely moreish. Coupled with a drinkable house red, you can't beat it in this part of London.
D. D.
Nice interior and charming environment.
Very kid friendly. Just had beer and desserts.
Funky, interesting dessert dishes but not remarkable.
A little spendy but a good place to introduce
the family to a London pub.
M. S. (.
Nice enough pub, but didn’t have a ground floor loo. I was busting and asked, but was directed downstairs. I said I couldn’t do stairs and waited for a response but there wasn’t one. I couldn’t see a disabled toilet either (I hold a RADAR key). Very unusual these days.
W. W.
Great bar with nice decor and lovely tapas. Yum.
N. R.
Lovely little spot this, ate oysters with a diverse group of lovely people. Drank a Guinness, a lovely tipple. More expensive than a Wetherspoons in Liverpool I might add.
J. S.
Such a quaint and beautiful old style London pub. I had a great time here and such a laugh with the friendly and fun staff. The food is really nice and I would recommend a mix of dishes to enjoy the selection.
J. M.
Wonderful tapas, cool vibe. Beer selection is a bit sparse but the wine is good. A very good place for a quick drink or a full meal, especially in the summer when you can sit outside
R. M.
This is a restaurant in what used to be a pub. The food is great and decently-priced. The selection of drink is also very good. On the night we went the only thing which let it down was the odd, unfriendly-seeming, service.
P. C.
Great tapas, beer, and vibe
J. T.
Delicious tapas and lovely people!
m. l.
Pleasant enough pub with tapas and mains. Friendly staff and great location. Somehow not very lively on a Sunday afternoon but still okay. No destination pub but if near......go
A. S.
Norfolk Arms is certainly the loveliest pub in the King's Cross/Euston area and probably the only one with cured hams hanging behind the bar.
It's a little away from the main road but that's a good thing - on an early weekday evening it didn't get any more than pleasantly busy. I didn't stay long enough to try the food but apparently it's off the Spanish tapas-y variety.
My only complaint is that it wouldn't hurt for the staff to crack a smile.
S. B.
Tapas menu full of interesting and tasty dishes (other menu just has fairly standard fare). Portions are a bit small otherwise I'd give it five stars.
n. R.
Fabulous bar offering delicious tapas, which we enjoyed whilst sitting outside in the autumn sunshine.
The pimento de Padron were lovely so we had another. We also enjoyed the cheese stuffed peppers and Valencian carrots all washed down with a pint of beer for hubby and a glass of Rioja for me.
We will definitely be back to sample more tapas.
T. A.
One of THE best kept London secrets! A group of long standing school chums meet here every six months or so and are never disappointed! Thank you everyone in The Norfolk Arms for making it a special Christmas celebration!
M. P.
Very decent food for this kind of place. Very busy though and staff not always keen on helping to fit despite of having a large booking. That was our experience.
K. H.
Gastro pub offering a good choice of Mediterranean focused small dishes. On Sunday it delivers up with metronomic precision the best Sunday lunch available in Bloomsbury (crucially, they serve it late into the day too, after all the nearby museums, libraries and other institutions have closed)
c. r.
Fantastic Sunday roast - loads of beef
f. S.
Great Mediterranean food in an English pub
H. P.
Friendly and flexible. A place you could go to every week. Choose from or mix Spanish tapas or British menu. Good list of wines and sherries. Uninspiring choice of two draught ales.
J. H.
Popped in for a pint, quick service, nice atmosphere, friendly staff
N. S.
Great spanish inspired food with mains and tapas. Atmospheric old fashioned bar. Good service and choice of beers.
C. E.
This is a really good place for lunch. Excellent tapas, cheerful service, quiet and within spitting distance of Kings Cross/St Pancras
M. O.
Very tasty main dishes : we had beef cheeks and the whole sea bass - both delicious! There is free bread with the meal and the staff was friendly.
M. B.
Very well cooked, if standard, tapas. Didn't try the jamon, but it looked good. Service was friendly. But £8 for a bog standard glass of wine? Really??
T. K.
Very tasty tapas.
T. P.
Lovely tapas, quick service, friendly staff
N. K.
Delicious Spanish food on offer, not a great beer selection but a few options, lots of wine on offer too. Good veggie options too.
S. F.
Fairly traditional pub in appearance but serving a great range of authentic Spanish tapas.
P. M.
Great Spanish food / British classics mash up
P. T.
Lovely old tiled exterior, pleasant staff, decent beer and an impressive varied menu with lots of tapas style dishes.
S. S.
Great food, good atmosphere.
I. D.
More of a gastro pub than a proper bar but nice place to lose yourself. Staff friendly.
J. R.
Vibrant, real buzz about the place even on a Tuesday evening in late January! Enjoyed it, good service and variety of food, something for everyone on the menu.
g. m.

Brilliant Staff Team!!!! Awesome Pub!!!
N. D.
Great menu of tapas or British inspired choices. Original Spanish sherry menu and usual beers
J. B.
Very wide choice of Tapas, all really well cooked. Ordered far too much food, but very tasty.
C. L.
Really good tapas, good service, nice area. A bit on the expensive side. Worth trying.
J. M.
Way above the average food for a pub with a good selection of beers. The service is below expectations.
N. H.
Delicious food, friendly staff. We'll worth the visit. Can recommend the beetroot pasta.
Z. &. C.
Nice food nice drink staff a bit aloof couldn't order food at the bar had to wait for a server to take our order waited twice before asking for someone to come and take our order
J. H.
Nice atmosphere and outside seating area. Average choice of lager though.
S. T.
One of my favourites- not too packed, food excellent, and nice atmosphere. Not the cheapest but one of the best.
S. H.
In sure for food it's ok but when from outside it looks like a traditional old pub and you go in expecting that and find it isn't.....
A. S.
Only popped in for a drink. Great setting. Food menu looked great.

Really gorgeous pub, lovely decor and the food was so incredible! Only minor complaint is that it was a bit chilly inside but soon warmed up after a glass of good white wine!
J. N.
Lovely setting, delicious tapas, cold beer, great music and friendly service. What more do you need?
M. P.
(Translated) Spanish-inspired pub whose strong point lies in the tapas and jugs of sangria.
The indoor venue is really noisy and I personally found the food overly seasoned ... too much! However, everything is good and cooked very well.
The staff is kind and smiling, it definitely makes a difference.
(Original)
А. У.
