Reviews of Orange Tree Totteridge
K. A.
What a beautiful experience for valentines day, the menu had options for everyone including vegetarians/vegans; & the atmosphere was full of love for the occasion ❤
The food was exquisite down to the very last bite: we had the Baked Camermbert Sharer, Maple-Glazed Rotisserie Pork Belly Our Dirty Burger & for dessert the Chocolate Orange Melting Bomb & Warm Home-Baked Chocolate Brownie.. this truly was a 3 course meal that was enjoyed very much and left me very much stuffed.
The customer service was wonderful, especially from Sophie thank you!
The only issue I would say is when the bill arrived, not only was I charged the full price for cocktails which were meant to be on happy hour prices; the deposit wasn't taken off the final bill. This was all retified however if I didn't bring it to the attention of the staff I would've been over charged by £24.50..
5* I would recommend on overall experience 👍🏼
K.
Lovely Sunday roast and fish and chips.
Great portions and reasonable prices.
Nice location. Interior very nice. This place is decided into restaurant area (where dogs are not allowed) and you can make a booking of the tabke and pub area where you can dine or have a drink with your dogs and these tables are on first come first serve basis.

We booked a table for a party of 10 people. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Good choice of food on the menu. Food arrived in good time, it was delicious and the presentation was very nice. Overall its a great place for a meal with the whole family. The place has a convenient car park outside as well.
Y. C.
Food was delicious and came quick and the presentation was stunning. The location itself is beautiful and very big, lovely outdoor area in the green as well. I only deducted one star because I thought that the staff that was serving us could have been friendlier. Tbh, I hope she just had a bad day.
J. H.
Generally, food was of a good quality.
Restaurant was busy, however too much time was spent by staff humouring walk-ins who hadn't booked in advance on a Saturday evening...
Starters were heavily bulked out with veg but all parties agreed were extremely tasty.
Mains (as pics) were again up to scratch.
However, they were served and then the starters were cleared, which made serving an awkward and precarious operation.
A tad pricy for the food, area and service but would definitely return.
Overall, a thumbs up from all.
👍👍

A real disappointment and the service has dropped so much.
This is a really nice pub situated in the Totteridge Village. Beautiful surroundings and scenery. It is also one of those Mitchell and Butler pubs, so don’t be surprised to find the food and especially the drink menus being the same. Reasonable space in the car park.
They even burn firewood logs in winter. Great atmosphere.
I must say the food is good but the service is quite appalling! I went there for Monday lunch and the restaurant wasn’t busy with quite a few attending staff. I had to wait ages to get any attention, I even waved at them and often get ignored. Finally when placing my order, the waitress forgot my order. It’s only a drink, a starter and a main course, hardly a challenge. I don’t mind if my order needs to be repeated a couple of minutes later when she entered my order in her till, but I don’t mind despite all the efforts my order still turned out to be wrong. The young waiter brought my food from the kitchen was embarrassed and he was the only one who was kind and offered to change but I never wanted to cause a scene and I was happy to accept the chips rather than the salad I had ordered.
What is utterly unforgiving is that I had to asked a couple of times for my bill and the other waitress forgot my request and ran around doing everything else than giving me my bill. When I finally reminded her of my bill, she ordered me to come to the till to pay. I felt quite offered as the bills are all brought and presented to all other customers but me! Again, without wishing to cause a scene, I obliged but I felt very uncomfortable being treated in such an appalling manner. It was also my birthday which made it a whole lot worse.
They can’t survive long with this kind of service especially with the local clientele as they won’t put up with this!
Food 8/10, service 2/10, ambience 8/10, value for money 5/10 (mainly due to their service)
I won’t come back again if this is the way they aspire to serve and it’s a real shame because everything else is good!
S. F.
Great place to relax, nice food and drinks, friendly staff, have my recommendation...
R. C.
We had the more limited Boxing Day menu. The adult food was surprisingly average. The burger was OK, the pork belly so overcooked it was hard to cut - pretty strange for a slow cooked portion of meat.
The kids menu was much better, and good value. The fish and chips was very good in fact.
Wines were nice, staff were great, atmosphere was good, toilets were pretty clean.
Mist outside over the pond made it feel very Christmassy.
J. K.
Never let down by this glorious pub. Great selection of beers, ales, wine and other drinks. The staff were so so charming and made us feel welcome and special.
The setting is stunning and the decor rich yet comfy and inviting.
A. F.
This is a 4.5.
The service was pleasant but somewhat leisurely indoors on a balmy summer evening, as the staff concentrated on the customers outdoors. I would classify the stir-fried beef fillet salad as competent, but the Black Forest chocolate bomb was superb.
L. L.
On Valentines Day our meal was excellent. We have been there many times before; Marcel has served us many times, always smiling and friendly, a credit to the Orange Tree. Linda and Stuart
C. R.
Awesome food. Friendly and on the ball service and a nice rustic pub. Loved it and they made my husbands birthday lunch special. Thank you. We’ll be back!
L. M.
Nice meal with friends and good tasting food. However, while we were in Totteridge, we shouldn't be contributing to the local mortgages. Maybe we weren't, but something has to account for the very high prices. Some staff were friendly and helpful, others seemed to be fed up being there.
G. P.
Great food. Lovely place, spacious and clean. Staff was professional yet not too invasive.
C. M.
Great selection of food! A bit pricey for a pub but it was all delicious. Nice ambience and atmosphere over the festive season x
D.
Lovely food and great cocktails, service was nice and attentive but a little slow.
M. M.
Great service and super friendly staff. Food is usually good but when we ordered a medium steak, we received more of a well done steak. We let the staff know and they removed one of the steaks off the bill which was nice of them. Cocktails and drink list is great.
E. C.
Lamb kofta starter was delicious. Vegetable bake was more like a nut roast. Lots of dried fruit and raisins. Was ok. Choc orange bomb was nice, though the honeycomb icecream tasted like vanilla, just with some honeycomb pieces thrown on. I expected honeycomb flavoured icecream. Still, was nice. Pleasant spacious atmosphere. Relaxed service. Toilets up flight of stairs. Clean.
K. R.
The perfect venue for a family celebration of our late father's life.
We could not have asked for more from planning our get together to the friendly and efficient service on the day. We opted for the light bites with a few additions to cater for the vegans in our party - food was delicious and plentiful. Chef even made individual fruit crumbles as a special for us - our late father's favourite desert!
A huge thank you to all at The Orange Tree
D. S.
This classy out-of-the-way superb gastro pub is the epitome of relaxed dining, superb restaurant-quality food and undoubtedly the best customer service I've ever had in any similar establishment. Waitress Ella deserves a huge shout-out for looking after us. Almost quaint pub-like on the outside, but modern and friendly inside (not a log fire kind of place) with a large garden too... right opposite the village green and pond. Even reading the menu tells you they care about their food and it really shows. Superb. Definitely return here.
N. S.
Much improved, haven't been for about 3 years as previously service was appalling! Today it was excellent, great reception, excellent table service from our waitress, very good food in clean pleasant surroundings.
We'll try again!
K. B.
Quite a few things out of stock on the menu that we wanted. Other than that, decent atmosphere and service. Worth visiting if you're in the area.
C. G.
Beautiful afternoon out at The Orange Tree pub today. Went just for drinks, staff were very friendly and was amazing to see how strict and diligent they were following covid 19 guidelines.
A nice selection of drinks with some cocktails too. The whiskey selection is great and amazingly priced. Only mark down I would say was the coffee was far from good, maybe something to improve?
Overall a cute and quaint pub with lovely setting and staff.

Great pub, food and atmosphere, tough to get a table it's so good, great place after an countryside walk
O. M.
Nice Gastro pub tucked away in Totteridge, open till late. Be sure to try the fishcake and Sticky Toffee pudding
J. I.
Great tasting food in a very warm and welcoming environment. The waiters and waitresses couldn't do enough to help us and provided recommendations based on their knowledge of the food. I can definitely recommend the Orange Tree Dining Experience as one to enjoy!
M.
Amazing ambiance and very friendly atmosphere. This pub welcomes elders, youngster, children and animals.
R. P.
The food was very nice but service was rather slow ... we had to ask for drinks after being seated at our table for 20mins and asked twice if we could order
J. W.
Stopped for a late lunch after a long walk around Totteridge. Delicious fillet steak sandwich with fries and miniature saucepan of beef gravy. Very good value and pleasant surroundings.
G. H.
Very nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. 4 of us had fish and chips which was nice but, 3 of us ordered dessert and only 1 was served. 30 minutes later when we asked for the bill we enquired why 2 desserts hadn't been served and we were told they had been forgotten. It was too late at this point as we had to be elsewhere so the missing desserts were struck from the bill and the chap serving us apologised. A slight disappointment. These things happen and it would not put me off The Orange Tree. We will be back. Perhaps a complimentary drink from them when we do would be welcomed.
A. B.
Living localy we do like the orange tree which is always a nice spot for good food and drinks. Service is always friendly especially with our little dog Nina who got extra crackling on one of our visits. Can be busy at times but no surprise for a nice pub. Will go again and again
P. V.
Good atmosphere and nice food...unusual way to present the menu and not straightforward to find your way round it! The only minus was the length of time it took to clear the tables after each course.
O. S.
Have visited this pub many times and went recently to enjoy this meal. You're looking at an average price of £15 per meal with drinks reasonably priced and good quality. My friend's duck meal was described as "delicious." I thought my dish lacked a bit of flavour but quality of the ingredients were good. The location and setting are lovely! You can get away with dressing up or down and the staff are very friendly.
S. D.
Xmas set menu - food was excellent ... Service was really nice too ... We were there for hours ... I'm going here for Xmas next year also ....
P. K.
Nice food, it is part of a posh chain, so good selection of food, even vegetarian, proper chips. Only 4 star as tables too close to each other for my liking
J. M.
The food was excellent, the service was attentive without being too "in your face" and I will definitely be going back.
D. M.
Seen the restaurant 🍴 a couple of times driving past and decided to try it put last Sunday. Atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. Great selection of beers and wines. Food is really nice - had the lamb roast with vegetable trimmings.
Ample parking and has a nice outside seating area with a big pond, ideal for lazy summer time afternoons.
e. s.
Great service and food. Price is reasonable for the quality. Nice atmosphere, great location for a special occasion.
M. M.
The price of the food does not reflect the quality. Food is barely-passable but costs a solid 50% more than any other pub in the area.
Nice place otherwise, but lets be honest, the only reason you're here is because the wait for a seat at The Gate up the road is too long.
A. S.
What a nice gourmet pub! My pork belly and Scallops was very tasty and done to perfection! My husband had a roast turkey and was very happy too. Service was friendly and timely even though they were super busy on Saturday night. My Etton mess dessert was lovely too but could be served in something more attractive rather than an soup plate! Overall great food and nice experience. Highly recommend if in the area
Z. K.
And old school favourite gastro pub food and cocktails 10/10 relaxed, chilled atmosphere
j. p.
Had a meal lastnight with friends
Fantastuc service fron the staff especially from the 2 young waitresses, very friendly, worked very hard and professional.👌👌😃😃
B. A.
Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere ⭐️
M.
Lovely snacks and drinks, and the food , and the service, just perfect. Thank you!!!
A. L.
Lovely place to sit and relax with friends/family and enjoy a beverage of some sort. Really worth a visit. The staff were all very polite and friendly too.
S. W.
Surprised by the great reviews ! Guess it's decent for a pub but think the reviews are hugely exaggerated.
I. C.
Pretty quaint little place.Great service especially Marcel who really took care of us when we visited with our 11week old baby.
D. M.
Lovely experience, had a great waitress named Tina and was treated with great respect. I had the best passionfruit martini made by the blonde bartender. Will definitely be coming back again
V. S.
The Orange Tree is a pub in Totteridge very country like surroundings warm and friendly A group of us went there for the festive menu which had a choice of Turkey with all the trimmings Christmas pudding and alot more.
Service was excellent parking available on the whole a lovely afternoon my pictures show a salmon and prawn starter and finished with a delicious crumble
M. B.
A traditional Sunday roast with a twist. Well presented and even better tasting!
Our starters consisting of [pork bao] and [octopus with chorizo in a salsa] were mind blowing and the mulled wine on par with any Austrian Christmas market.
We had a lovely cozy lunch; the orange tree was very accommodating
E. T.
Didn't eat or drink there but I used the facilities which were clean and decorated to a high degree. The menue looked Good, unfortunately I would not be able to afford to eat there. Maybe if I won the lottery I might be able to bring all my poor friends for a decent meal.
R. T.
Nice attentive staff. Food was weak compared to other pub food related to this chain. Prefer the old bull and bush in Hampstead.
A. P.
Great location, great selection fo good food. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more.
M. Z.
very nice atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food, I spent a nice evening with my friends
C. S.
The food was a bit too salty but otherwise all good. Nice location. Very quiet during the week, pleasant atmosphere.
G. D.
Lovely location, great service and all our food arrived at the same time. Our food was a bit disappointing though, crispy onions weren't crispy, sweet potatoes fries weren't crispy and the wagu burger was tasty but tough. The house sharer dessert is fantastic value - nearly 4 desserts for the price of two.
N. D.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Lovely staff:)
H. P.
Really nice house sodas and cocktails! Nice food too! Lovely indoor and outdoor seating - and friendly, helpful staff 😊
J. C.
We sat outside in the garden and enjoyed coffees and a dessert after walking in Darlands lake nature reserve.
Table service, food as delicious as ever.
L. S.
Very cosy place, nice selection of wine, I would recommend the scallops as a starter and for the main the sea bass is delicious.
Great selection of desserts to finish the evening off as well.
Overall experience inside positive, the staff where accommodating and friendly.
Would advise to book a table in advance during the busier periods.
Parking is available just outside of the pub.
The surrounding small lakes and greenery make it a very nice atmosphere and I would recommend to friends and family.
R. T.
Excellent food and a very warm welcome. Friendly staff, felt very at home.
D. H.
Absolutely fantastic evening here - Super friendly and attentive service, delicious food (their chocolate brownie is phenomenal) and a great selection of drinks and all excellent value for money.
Highly recommended for a date, evening out with friends (no more than 6 mind)
10/10

Great Christmas sunday lunch
L. C.
Came here for lunch mainly because they have a vegan menu! We hadn't booked a table but they managed to seat us anyway but you can book a table online. The service was fantastic, great waiting staff. The food was insanely good! Best curry I've ever eaten and the vegan chocolate tart desert is to die for. Going to be reccomending this place to all my vegan friends!
j. M.
Excellent late lunch today for a party of 6. Really well organised from a Covid point of view.
Top quality food with a mixture of fish, steak, burger and pizza with all parties really happy with their meal.
Some of the outside furniture seems a bit tired.
Service from the staff was superb with one lady kindly getting a cushion for my 80 year old mum without being prompted. A simple act of kindness which was very much appreciated.
Would certainly recommend for the excellent quality food and service as well as the lovely setting.
V. V.
Food was lovely and Services was excellent
E. G.
My 5 stars could have easily been 1.
I have checked their female washroom and the experience was really really disappointing at the time. Before reviewing I have kindly asked them to clean it and guess what?! In less than 10 minutes the washrooms were all clean. I highly appreciate how they cared about my comments cause people usually ignore the customers comments on issues of such. The bartender was cool and friendly and overall our experience was all good. A good place to chill on Sunday afternoons.
M. P.
Just been for my 65th birthday lunch all good. Drinks properly served, refreshing and tasty.
Food excellent too. Interesting menu.
Service First Class.
Great to be able to dine inside again!
I. M.
Been there couple of times. Food is Excellent. But I always remember the guy who couple of times served us and i said ill write down review as he deserved it. Fation was very polite and was running around tables to make his best for customers.Could put to him 100 stars from maximum,i never saw such a professional customer service.Love the place also important who serving.Thank you so much!
A. P.
Our food was generally ok. My roasted cauliflower wedge was very disappointing. I really regret not saying anything at the time. The cauliflower was basically just boiled cauliflower so not as described at all.
Enough to put me off going again. My wife has been several times. As relatively new vegetarians it feels like this dish didn't get the same attention
D. M.
Great food, amazing service, ok drinks (they were prepared fine but I'm a bit disappointed with the beer selection, it's a shame for a pub to only have two beers on tap imo) and everything was a bit overpriced but the quality of the food made up for it. The scallops were delicious. It's well worth an occasional visit and I am sure I'll be back.
V. R.
Wonderful spot, perfect roast and the puddings we’re so tasty. I would go here every week if I could
V. V. T.
Nice bar/restaurant. Great food and desserts. Their sunday roast is lovely.
S. “. A.
Lovely gastro pub, beatiful decor. This occasion was a team christmas lunch the food was ok, been on previous occasions when the food has been a lot better (I suppose less big bookings)
J. F.
Very friendly and competent service. Food was reasonable. Nice atmosphere.
S. R.
The Orange Tree is a beautiful, modern gastro pub with a pond, right near the woods that surround the Totteridge Village. Highly recommended!
P. T.
Lazy Sunday lunch with friends we haven't seen for obvious reasons (C-19).
A beautiful pub tucked away in North London Totteridge, near some very expensive homes!
Having said that the other guests were regular folks (well, they were pretty down to earth, rather than rich and famous).
C-19 precautions were very well executed. The staff were friendly and efficient on our visit. If you're demanding, this maybe another story. I believe treat staff with respect and they'll show you the same.
Food excellent, althought the roast beef could be thicker, otherwise a great plate of food! The fish and chips was professionaly created. The Veg roast was surprisingly good, even for a carnivoire like me!
There were plenty of families for lunch, and ramblers with their dogs, making a great outdoor atmosphare.
A perfect afternoon on the day!
Would recommend a visit, and we will be going back.
To note, the 5th star would be added once we try the indoor experience.
D. L.
Great gastropub. Food is excellent, the location is fantastic and they have all the beers, wines and spirits you'd expect. Best pub in Totteridge and Whetstone.
O. S.
Excellent food, great venue and decently priced for where it is.
V. C.
Great dinner. Nice outdoor seating. Not enough serving staff
R. G.
Lunch on a saturday.
Excellent service
Great food
Affordable
Definitely worth another visit
N. F.
Fantastic atmosphere and excellent food, we had recieved magnificant service from our waitress Tina. Would definitely recommend coming here.
We will be back. Thank you!
M. L.
Good pub, food is excellent with quality italian chefs. Only not 5* because it doesn't have a decent pale ale on tap and the food is very high end on price. Recommended though.
E. L.
Good service, warm atmosphere, chic decor and tasty food
s. g.
My mum had booked a table for my birthday and there were 4 of us at the table ... so rather than ask my mum who's birthday it was they just put happy birthday on anyone of the pudding dishes and had it served to us ...i felt very sorry for for waitress its was embarrassing for her to have to come to our table and hand dish to the wrong person. and what was supposed to be a special moment was ruined ...other wise the waiting team were very friendly but i could see you guys were under staffed so service was very slow too
Q. C.
The orange tree is a relaxed and friendly pub that sounds great food with great service in a lovely environment. More importantly to us, they love dogs.
I. K.
Lovely lunch in one of the coolest pubs in the area. Delicious food and great selection of beers. The staff was really friendly and well organised from covid point of view. Fation gave us a nice table outside, very helpful and kind helping us choosing. Service friendly and top notch as always.
M. R.
Spent a very nice summer's evening drinking in the well kept pub garden. Spacious with plenty of tables and chairs. Staff were attentive and helpful.
c. k.
I love coming here as you know you are going to enjoy the food.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well they have managed social distancing.
Ordered the Chipotle chicken starter which was lovely.
Main meal of Pork belly which was delicious and to finish Lemon Meringue pudding.
Will definitely be back
B. M.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food and service
C. W.
Management really fussed over us and made us feel very valued as we normally visit twice a week because it’s such a lovely warm place to eat.
Fantastic, brilliant & number one
A. S.
Great location away from the noise, nice and quiet and great in the summer. Good selection of drinks and the food menu is good. Great place to entertain guests for lunch.
I.
Brilliant restaurant food very good staff so friendly
M. B.
I love this place, lovely atmosphere, food and drinks and STAFF!!!!
My favourite pub
r. p.
Amazing food good friendly atmosphere. Sunday roast was good and desert was good.
O. O. (.
Lovely gastro pub, with a lovely garden space to soak up the sun, whilst sipping your favourite beverage.
Food is really good too, would recommend a visit.
G. H.
Such a lovely atmosphere and really attentive and friendly staff. Looked like there was some great food being served but unfortunately the duck salad was poor. Watery, texture due to abundance of cucumber slices, lack of seasoning or sauce and duck were just small pieces of Crispy skin. I’ve eaten at orange tree previously and food was great so hopefully this was just a a blip. Still had a lovely evening and would go back there.
S. C.
Never had a bad dish... food and service has always been 10/10
N. K.
I have been going to this Restaurant/Bar for over 10 years with my partner and children. We meet good friends for drinks on a regular basis and also do business from there when we take clients out for meals. It is our favourite place to go.
The staff are extremely friendly and can never do enough for us.
We have meals there at least 3 times a month and it has always been really nice. Sometimes you might have a slight delay on food when the sun is out and they are extremely busy. But I would expect that anywhere.
I would highly recommend The Orange Tree and have done on many occasions.
Thank you Mark, Mercen and Lauren for making our experience the best.🤗👏
J. O.
The Orange Tree has always been one of the best pubs to relax at after walking in this leafy part of London with lovely fields.
We love the location, we love the atmosphere - a favourite watering hole of ours.
J. M.
I recently went to the Orange Tree to celebrate a friend's birthday, the food was delicious, the beverages delightful, and the staff (particularly a young man named Sam) incredibly polite and hospitable. I will definitely be returning.
m. J.
First visit back here since reopening , felt safe, clean , staff were attentive and lovely , everyone was in a great mood, the food was amazing and can’t go wrong with the cocktails , 5 stars from me and my friends last Friday night ! :)
P. V.
Located in a beautiful location and lovely decor. We booked the Christmas day meal. We were left very disappointed. I don't feel we got value for money. My daughter ordered the dairy free option but got no vegetables or bacon. Her plate was so basic and not worth the £85 per plate. We didn't even get bread with the meal. The meal was very basic. We also had to get drinks and charged £30 service charge. I would have expected more for the money we spent.
S.
We went this evening for the first time with a friend and kids .The place is nice and also the atmosphere
Unfortunately I'm dairy intolerant and they don't have much meals to offer.
The kids pizza wasn't a pizza but more like a flat bread with tomato on top..and the linguine pasta was overcooked and tasteless.
The blackcurrant mousse was very good .
The staff seemed bored all the time, quite sad for a pub .
P. D.
It's OK, typical big chain pub trying to do what gastro pubs do but without success. Dissapointing piece of meat masquerading as a steak.
O. A.
Lovely looking place but you'd better book to get in on Sunday 😲
S. P.
Lovely get together for a pre Christmas dinner with family.
h.
Very calm, relaxing, comfortable place with very nice team.
M. H.
Really enjoyed the food. The pub itself is very nicely decorated and there is a warm and friendly ambience about it.
We went on a Sunday and had the roast, which was good value for money given the portion size and was very tasty.
The only downside was that service was very slow. It took over 30 mins for the drinks to come to the table. I appreciate it was a very busy Sunday, but they should consider hiring more staff or have a member of staff assigned to certain tables, which could make the service run more efficiently.
S. A.
Crowded with large groups enjoying good food with a Christmas feel

Nice pub, with very relaxing vibe. Service very nice and quick.

Great food and amazing service. Highly recommended!!

nice pub with good drinks, food and service when you are there. Unfortunately it can be fairly difficult to get in contact with them as when i rang no one picked despite me calling all week.

Nice outdoor setting good friendly staff, variety of drinks and munchies.

Been here a few times, always pleasant and decent food

Great Sunday roast
A. S.
Just popped in for a quick bite and coffee! Lovely place with a beautiful view. Nice decor inside, very clean and good relaxing music. Perfect for a quite meal. Will definitely be back to try out more of the menu. Had scallops with fishcake bon bon and halloumi fries. Dobe perfectly! Could not fault a thing! Was served by Marsel, Steven, Sam and Tina! All of them are super friendly and doing great job at making sure the place is COVID safe! Recommend!

Beautiful pub and food. Staff were lovely and helpful. We will be back soon!

Been coming here for the last 4 years or so not as regularly now but lovely atmosphere. Always warm and cosy nice to be able to catch up with friends not too loud in there. Nice drinks and the food is lovely also tried the panko crumb chicken this time was really nice had the fish and chips and other things from the menu before also which were all equally as nice.
J. P.
We, as a family have just been served by Justine, I can honestly say she was one of the best servers we have experienced. Friendly, efficient and attentive. Especially during these covid times, we all felt at ease, tables were thoroughly cleaned and always wore her mask correctly. A credit to the team.
N. H.
Chateau-briand was really good and served so well in a raised table top tray table. Very impressive. Staff were really lovely.
R. M.
A sweet little pub that we've been going back to for years as it's very cosy (especially in winter time) and family friendly. Unfortunately, food is hit & miss and mostly ranges from underwhelming to ok (and sometimes the flavour combinations are just downright peculiar like the scallops with bacon and pea mash... nothing about the flavours or the textures works together). Staff seem to try their best but more often than not seem to come across as rather overwhelmed and not particularly alert to the diners, which can at times be a little frustrating.
C. P.
Lovely venue and food very good. Sunday roast delicious roast pots and veg very well cooked and good produce. Gravy excellent!
Customer services could do with improvement. Young lady serving us very poor communication skills did not ask us first what we doing would like to drink and seemed nervous maybe.? However my opinion did change as she was a grafter worked very hard the whole time we were there. Maybe just s few pointers to brush things up will make it 5*****.
L. M.
Good food, friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. It seems to get quite busy in the evening though so you probably need to book.
the menu is wide and varied and they've got a good selection of food suitable for vegetarians.
The restaurant itself can get quite cool, so best to bring a warm jumper in the winter!
Will definitely go again!
D. B.
Very nice and warm pub with dinning
S. S.
Cocktails were decent but poor staff service. Agitated and unwelcoming management.
S. H.
Lovely beer garden. Great in summer & for kids/dogs. Easily accessible by public transport (bus)
D. J.
The restraunt was very busy as it was Sunday lunch so service was a tad slow but we were in no hurry. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced (for London). Two minor glitches: they didn't have the wine we wanted although the one we had was good and we ordered cider which they also had run out of and then put the drink we didn't get on the bill. This was eventually removed. Inspite of these minor problems will definitely go again.
a. s.
Such amazing food and fast service, would definitely recommend coming here
T. D.
The pub was fully booked so we had to sit outside, but service was just as good and the meal was very tasty, well worth the price. A lovely evening. Thank you.
K. K.
the service has improved majorly since ... very happy with my last visit on Saturday...
The food is always amazing
We have been coming to this pub for 10 years but today we received the poorest service you could possibly get. Waitresses have no time for anyone. Had to get up twice to ask for menus and if we can order pudding, not once a check to see if we need anything or to clear our plates, had to ask for someone to come over for this to be done. Very strange ...
D. 1.
Family friendly, good spot for a Sunday roast.
M. Y.
One of our faves. Nice setting, nice food, friendly staff
M. C.
Compared with other establishments in same company, have to say staff are not so friendly here
C. W.
Excellent menu, friendly staff and good food
L. K.
Nice place ,nice staff, very pleasant food
N. L.
Great food and great location and very accommodating! Hard to beat in Spring and Summer!
Only 1 item was missing from our dish but it was very tasty and the place had a great family atmosphere.
Only one other thing they could have improved on was the disabled toilets. When my wife went into the toilets they looked like the cleaner had not been there for awhile, they could have been much cleaner at the time.
Othan the above I would still recommend this place to anyone.
A. R.
It's been a while since I have eaten here and I wasn't sure about going back but we thought we would try it. What a great meal we had!! Excellent food, terrific service and didn't break the bank. Fabulous evening.... Well recommended
M. A.
Food quality is a mixed bag; my gnocchi main was amazing however my partner's tuna poke bowl was less than average at best, our cocktails were not worthy of the price.
Service was slow and inattentive.
S. M.
So cozy and beautiful! Wonderful place to relax and have a slow drink. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food is good too.
C. E.
Wow!!! Just wow!! Brilliant service, amazing food, beautiful decor. We will definitely be back! I spoke with two guys, Mersin and Mark, I believe are the managers?? Really professional, and helped us decide what to go for on the food menu. Thank you 👍
D. W.
Really nice garden. Friendly staff and great food....I had the pizza, which was huge for lunch, and had to take half home....
S.
Lovely pub, very busy and very lively. Great for a lovely sunny day if you’d like to be outside. Indoor tables should be booked. Good selection of usual pub fare and also some other options. Very good choice of drinks (alcoholic). We went on a very busy sunny day and service was stretched. One of our table needed to return their meal to be cooked a little more and another required extra gravy but each time, the wait for returned food was 10 mins. Staff were friendly though and did their best to keep up with demand
C. C.
The service wasn't amazing and the drinks order got confused when we only re-ordered two drinks. The lady who took our bill hovered a lot when we came to working out who needed to pay what, that was a bit awkward and felt pressured.
The food was superb though and well cooked, I ordered the fillet steak and it was cooked just to my liking.
I like the decor I think it's stunning.
The only thing I would say is that it's quite pricey, I know that end of town is expensive and full of rich people, but there wasn't much on the menu that was cheap enough to keep us coming back regularly. Only for a once in a while treat.
J. W.
This is a beautiful pub
Came on a Sunday and the roasts are amazing!! It’s hard to find a pub which gives literally all the trimmings, stuffing and pigs in blankets included!!!
The prices are desirable too
Service was slightly slow but it was busy so can be forgiven however the staff were very polite and friendly.
C. L.
Love this pub! They have quality food on their menu's! The chefs cook some outstanding food! It would be 5 stars but some of their staff do let them down.
C. F.
Great food however when we were trying to get service the 3 waiters were chatting away! Had to wait over 20 minutes to get our plates taken away after finishing and getting another drink. Then another 20 minutes until we found someone to get the bill
R. W.
Nice pub but a bit pretentious..
S. S.
Good food, always packed when the sun's out so recommended to book a table. Great outdoor seating if your early enough. Sunday roast bit small in my opinion. The vegetable tart was lovely as are all the desserts
E. H.
Great but quite expensive. Better for pub food and drinks than a cafe, coffee not so great.
T. S.
Great food but slow service.
J. H.
The Orange Tree is probably one of my top 5 pubs for some pretty standard reasons, the menu is quite varied so there is something for everyone, the food is great especially their fish and chips. It is a great place to stay all year round with an outside garden and inside where it is snug at winter. The reason that I have left out a star is because once I was served their simple pasta and tomato sauce and it was rubbery as if it had been re-heated, other than that it is a great place to go and enjoyable for all the family!
D. M.
My father and I, plus other members of our family, have been coming to The Orange Tree pub and restaurant for decades. It remains a lovely spot with the pond and tables outside, plus a decent and functional interior. The new menu has a pleasant range of food and drinks, including well presented and light but tasty vegetation and salad options, and some tempting desserts.
B. M.
Popular venue, reasonably priced good food and prices. If eating booking is recommended. Helpful staff. Large car park but some tight parking may be required if crowded. Child friendly restaurant with kids menus and high chairs. Popular for celebrations. Christmas and New year eve menus.
a. w.
Lovely pub great service
C. L.
I used to go to The Orange Tree when I was in school around the corner; it's different now, defiantly more restaurant than pub. But that isn't a criticism its, lovely — beautiful location, although you need a car (hence the non-alcoholic beer), delicious food and excellent service.
N. P.
Came on a lovely sunny afternoon with a friend - our burgers were delicious and our server Tina was absolutely brilliant, professional and knowledgeable! We will definitely be back soon
L. I.
Gastro pub which has a selection of tasty vegan options on the menu. Lovely surroundings with a pond and large outside seating area as well as a spacious restaurant indoors and options to sit in the bar area and eat if you've not booked. Dog friendly.
B. D.
It was Father's day when I visited so the place was crowded. However, from what I heard it is almost like this all the time. And to be honest tgere is reason for this. The food is really great . I tasted something called Trio of roasted meet. It was delicious. My spouse ordered soup of the day ... well this was kind of disappointing. But I don't think we have tasted a good soup in UK. So this was not unexpected. There is also garden where you can sit and a small lake next to it. Lovely place! Definitely worth the time.
M. L.
Decent enough local pub. Personally I think it's greatly over-rated.
Clearly part of a large chain, the decor is sterile with an atmosphere to match.
Every time I've eaten here my food has been over-cooked and the service is inconsistent varying from indifferent to poor.
Personally The Orange Tree wouldn't be my first choice of local pub to visit but several of my friends and acquaintances like it so...
It does have a great location with a duck pond in front of the building. Pity that the experience inside the building doesn't match the exterior.
C. M.
One of the prettiest pubs in the North London area. Has it's own little pond and a nice outside area. Great for summers. The dining room is also good and it's a pleasure to sit there. Staff is generally good.
I rate it 3 stars, because the food is a let down. The few times I ate there, I regretted it.
C. G.
My new local pub, friendly staff always busy, speaks volumes.
A must if you are in the area
B.
Went for Xmas dinner... Had scallops, slow cooked pigs cheeks and some sort of orange chocolate tart.... Very tasty food. Pigs cheeks was full of flavour and very soft (highly recommended). Three scallops came in the starters dish, ask for some lemon to bring out the flavour a little.
Overall a good dining experience, even though is was full house the service was on par. Food came out promptly...
A. S.
The food was really good
M. E. *.
Lovely location and nice food. It's overpriced but what do you expect in this location!
Seems a bit caught in a strange limbo between a pub and an upmarket restaurant. Pricy food and drinks, but dogs allowed... I love dogs but it does seem odd!
Staff are friendly and pleasant, but this place gets really busy and they don't seem very well trained or managed. I've been here about 3 times and each time there's been a mess up with our order, something added to the bill that we didn't have, or ordered drinks that never arrived. When things have gone wrong there's been no, or very little apology.
S.
The setting of The Orange Tree is nice but I was a little disappointed with the food. It was not that tasty and the service could have been better.
F. A.
Very nice atmosphere. Lovely food. One thing restaurants don't do well is clean tables well. Being busy isn't any excuse. You're supposed to be busy if you want to make money!! We had to wait a while for our table you be cleaned.
J. S.
Pricy overall. Ordered a nourish bowl £10.50 for a small portion. Cauliflower supposed to be roasted, was overcooked. Chickpeas almost nothing. Avocado was not good. It really disappointed me.
R. P.
On arriving the man that serves us was really nice...felt the waitress was a little pushy and didn't seem overly happy when we weren't ready to order. Also there was no break between the starter and the main. Camberbet for the starter was really good. The pizza wasn't the best pizza but was okay. The gentleman who was serving us at the end was really nice.
L. G.
Main reason I visit this pub is a break on a walk you can have in the local countryside. It is always quite busy with diners and is a bit pricey. For some reason most if the outdoor seating has been removed so you end up having to sit on the grass so not as good an experience as I have had previously.
N. M.
Really hearty food and a cosy place to sit. The service was also excellent. The only downside is that it is a little pricey for a pub - we paid around £40 per head.
D. L.
Given the current circumstances, the service and food was excellent. Such a great place for a drink or food. Rarely disappointed there!
N. S.
Been here a few times now. The first time was lovely couldn't fault it. However the next few times weren't so great. The green beans were under cooked. Our food came before the drinks. The service we got was not great.
S. M.
Good food but much too noisy inside
J. M.
Been going for years, certainly one of the best local pubs. It is trendy in a nice location, a more upscale gastropub. Lovely in the summer but hard to get a seat outside on a sunny Sunday. Decent car park unless you go on a sunny Sunday, then you see all sorts of magical parking attempts, that literally block off the pathway.
Food is always tasty and reasonably priced for a trendy gastro, with a decent range of healthy options. Alcohol is reasonable. Staff are polite enough. There's a sit down restaurant, but you can order food and sit at the bar which is more relaxed which is what we aim for when going to a gastropub - also more suitable when with our dog. The Orange Tree is dog friendly with a good walking spot nearby.
I try to ignore the fact that there's a chance the people drinking next to me probably earn more in a year than I do in my life - and I have a successful city job.
If you're in the area and fancy a drink or some grub, pop in.
R.
Great service and food as always
P. E.
Sat outside. Great food, great service, just an enjoyable afternoon. Thank you Orange Tree
O. S.
Nice atmosphere, spacious, great staff.
However small portions for the price. Would happily paid the price for the meal with perhaps 25% more food on the plate.
Otherwise good place. Wouldn't come back based on portion size. However I'm a hungry man.
B. W.
Great pub in good location. Parking is a little tricky. Good choice of vegetarian and vegan options. Good serving staff. Tuna poke salad v spicy, but this is not clear from the menu.
N. E.
UPDATED REVIEW: Really nice pub but omg does it sometimes take ages to get served. And if it's busy I'd check your bill, mistakes can sometimes be made. But I just can't stop going as it is a very pleasant place to sit and relax it's also especially pretty in the summer. If this place had killer service it would be unbeatable!
J. D.
Very busy, noisy restaurant pub with a large menu. The food was fine except the squid wasn't seasoned and the fruit crumble didn't taste of anything. However, it does have a good atmosphere and the seating area is very pleasant.
H. H.
Good food good service. Highly recommended.
J. B.
It was tough to give this restaurant a 3* review. I was debating between 2* and 3*.
I personally will never be returning.
The 3* is for the service, because the waitress was actually very kind.
The food is the biggest problem in this place.
Tiny portions, average quality, and overpriced. Literally the three worst things you can combine at a restaurant.
3 people ordered 1 drink each, and 1 main course each (no starter/desert) came to £30 each - I'm still surprised, as it wasn't as if any of us ordered a Fillet Mignon. Our mains were a salad, a burger and the smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen. I believe they disguised a wing as a thigh - although a full investigation is pending.
Anyway, to sum up. If you want to have a nice meal, don't go here. The staff are kind though.
D. O.
The food was the best I have eaten in a long time. However, tables too close together and my guest had to return food as it was not what he ordered, hence I have scored 4. Staff friendly and pub has a nice atmosphere.
J. P.
Nice location, food is lovely and the service is attentive.
p. s.
Ate outside good menu and drinks selection. The orange tree never fails to deliver.
R. W.
Nice ambience. I had the tuna salad, it included a massive brocolli branch and large number of chillis, not on the menu. Too spicy hot for me. Otherwise, my friends had tasty meals.
A. S.
We had breakfast here as just moved to the area. Excellent place, beautiful scenery and wonderful area - the food was also very, very good. I can't wait to take my partner for dinner here some time very soon
H. T.
Arrived earlier than reservations, seated promptly. Staff was not aware of the 'special offer mid week menu', we had to mention it. Then we asked about the 'bottle of wine' that would come with menu whether it was one bottle between 2 or one bottle between 4, slow to respond.
Asked for recommendation for the food, staff was friendly. Food was ok - had the King prawn, crab & chorizo linguine - it was sweeter than expected. The thyme roasted Portobello mushrooms starter served did not look like the photo on the website. It was tasty.
Overall Service was slow, had to keep needing to get the attention of staff.
Menu was good deal. Would come back again and try other items on the menus.
E. O.
Fantastic pub in the countryside of Totteridge. Next to a little pond with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, cosy in winter and lovely in summer. Roasts are full of flavour and filling with some modern touches in plating, very tasty. Service is friendly and efficient, definitely recommend it for a nice pub lunch, best to make a reservation on a Sunday.
V. G.
I go to this place quite often, very friendly vibrant, the reason for 4 stars is the service was very slow from getting drinks at the bar to food coming to the table.
The food to the table was probably my groups own fault as we switch tables to come inside, lots of mosquitoes on a hot summers night and they do have a pond right outside. But we did go to the bar and told the that we had switched tables and told them all the details of the new table, unfortunately this was not relayed correctly. Partly ours partly the establishments fault I would say. I'll leave this to you to decide.
Prices average to low high for the area.
Staff knowledge and friendliness excellent to brilliant.
Food was lovely i had the tempura squid which i would give 3 out 5 reason portion size and overall flavour.
The octopus and chorizo starter was amazing and the pea puree it sat upon was to die for, cooked well 5 out of 5 for me.
Now i do want to tell you about an incident that is in no way shape or form any fault of the establishments and the way they handled it was perfect.
I think the littlimmmm
Me and my party sadly encountered a ;g^racist individual member of the public stated that we had stolen his table and racial stating he paid for us to be in this country and we have no right to be here. Now i was very close to reacting in the wrong way and would have almost landed myself in some serious trouble. One of my party verbal stated you have not paid anything for in my life i Idon't know you. Obviously everyone was very tense and anxious at this point, then another group on another table came us and said no the racist individual was in the wrong and they will be witness to the racial abuse if it goes that far. By now one of my group members stated I'm going to go get the manager and with that the racist individual left. The manager came to us and offer his apologies and offer us the full cooperation of the management team and staff i.e cctv if we wanted to pursue the matter further (which we didn't and won't), he offered us complimentary drinks which we respectfully denied. I just want to reiterate that this was an isolated event and obviously nothing to do with the establishment, but with that said this person could be local could be a passer by who knows.
D. S.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had planned on proposing (to my now fiance), and both Kyle and Chester were so helpful. They made sure everything was ready for what I needed, brought us a glass of champagne and just provided that little bit extra that they really didn't need to. The food was also excellent and I cannot wait to return. Thanks all, for making it a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
N. B.
Lovely pub with beautiful interior decor and cosy environment. The service was exceptional and very quick, the food was also good!
J. K.
It has always been a family favourite of ours. Has amazing food and great variety of beer. Nice relaxing vibe nice place for a weekend meal but expensive but worth it.
T. G.
I had an amazing lunch today in orange tree,
The pub was nice and clean staff friendly and Marsel the waiter was looking after our table !
Amazing place ! Thank you guys!
M. P.
Went here with my girlfriend for dinner the other weekend. They had a special fish menu on Friday with an assortment of seafood dishes. Ordered the scallops which were incredible. Fresh, tasty and cooked perfectly. I've also been here for sunday roast. The portions are enormous so would recommend sharing. The staff whilst helpful can be very overbearing and almost over serve you. We kindly told them to leave us be which we wish we would have done sooner. You can't say they're not attentive.
P. T.
Friendly helpful staff, good range on menu, everyone's happy with dishes chosen. Will be back as soon as we loose the extra pounds we just put on. Happy evening but book a table so you are not disappointed.
J. V.
Nice eatery located on the outskirts of Totteridge serving food and drink.
Not given 5 stars because I deem it a little pricey (before the menu overhaul the portions were larger and not so expensive) and also the last time I went I found the waitress that served me rather annoying due to the fact that in the space of half an hour she asked at my table four times if we were OK or if we needed anything and at the end of the meal gave us the impression that she wanted to get rid of us judging by the quickness in which it took her to bring us the bill.
V. T.
Plenty of parking
Quick bar service, varied menu but we went for the Sunday roast.
We had the lamb, chicken and the pork belly, all very tasty
We did have the melted cheese for starter, which was surperb
C.
Table we were sat at had filthy settee cushions which put you off and it was freezing. Friendly waiter apologised and informed the heating wasn’t working. Jug of water served in dirty looking jug and water had very weird smell. My friends dinner arrived cold which matched our hands as we sat eating with our coats on. Shame as the food was quite nice and the waiter very helpful
T. A.
Had a great evening here last night. Food and service great as ever and despite the restrictions with new Covid policies the staff were friendly and service was quick. Will be back soon!
V. R. b.
It was difficult to get service at times and a bit slow to start with but gathered speed with the main courses.. the food was nice.
The female toilets need to be cleaned especially around the skirting boards etc. Full of dust and dirt.
M. P.
This was my local pub 40 years ago. Revisited with family for a quick drink but stayed for an evening meal. Friendly relaxed atmosphere, good service and good food.
P. H.
Pleasant enough and found the restaurant staff to be attentive and friendly..getting a drink at the bar is something not for the fainthearted..didn't seem to be enough staff behind the bar..food was ok but I think a little pricey.. enjoyed the day as it was with family but not sure if I would revisit ..
J. E.
Fantastic dinner on Friday night, celebrating my husbands birthday! Everyone thouroughly enjoyed their food and service was perfect. Great ambiance.
c. c.
Had dinner here as many times the food was good but the first time I’m having Aperol spritz without any hint of Prosecco in it !! Didn’t see when they made it but it only tasted lemonade and the bitterness from the aperol .. It must've been a mistake, otherwise a great place!
P. P.
Food is uniquely authentic and fresh. Great service.
E. G.
Great food and pub in a good location.
M. F.
Warm and cosy atmosphere, food is ok, some nice quiet tables in the bar for a date, or larger restaurant tables for a family dinner in another area. Food is ok, gastro pub, cater for gluten free and wine list isn't bad.
Saw they do brunch, but haven't tried it.
A. P.
The food is average, but it's a great space to have a few drinks in the summer (great outdoor space) and in the winter ( log fire inside the pub). Most of the inside of the pub is reserved for people ordering food, so if you're only there for drinks, the inside section can get crowded.
H. A.
We reserved for a family dinner and the restaurant settings were lovely, separate to the bar. We had high expectations, as you would for a £45 chateaubriand. The cut was really good, the dauphinois and chips too. It took a long time for food to come, but I guess we're lucky we had wine. Steal was just alright. Sticky toffee pudding was really good!!
P. H.
Had a really good evening at this little gem of a pub. Although they were probably slightly understaffed yesterday, the service was good and the standard of the food was really good. Would recommend to anyone.
R. S.
Lovely lunch at this "Village pub".
H. M.
Nice, cosy atmosphere. Big portions. Good food.
L.
A warm and welcoming location in a village setting. This charming pub was full of seasonal cheer with exceptional service from their staff, especially the Chef who served fabulous food. Definitely worth a detour!
A. F.
Great atmosphere and great food
E. E.
Lovely place with a good menu. My main course arrived which I believe didn't match description. I asked for it to be altered and what I was then presented with was a differently arranged version of the same thing. Starter and main were excellent.
R. Y.
Nice food and great service
A. R.
Very nice felt really safe first time inside a restaurant All staff are very kind
A. W.
Went for lunch on 22nd February 2013. On entering we were sort of ignored by the staff for a few minutes whilst we waited by the check in area. The restaurant was quite busy and the table we were given was ok apart from the only view was of a grey wall. We moved to the far end of the pub where it was much quieter - and we soon discovered why it was freezing in there! As I looked round the pub it became more apparent that most people were wearing coats. The saving grace was that the food was really good.
Summary - service - poor - staff seemed unhappy and under pressure.
Food - very good
Ambience - good layout and decor - attention to detail missing - fire was just a smouldering pile of blackened wood, radiators not working, Display for mothers day had a vase of dead roses.
Considering its location and the affluence around the area we expected a higher standard.
F. B.
Very nice pub and restaurant. Friendly staff and the food was lovely but I would say there was far too much salt on my dish (pumpkin gnocchi)
A. O.
Lovely food! The cocktails were divine! Excellent service. Highly recommend
A. K.
Nice place with tasty food, maybe the staff could be a bit friendlier. Food came very fast. Clean toilets, WiFi always a plus. But avoid the spit roasted chicken, it's completely tasteless
N. R.
I have been here many times. Food is always good. My favourite is sticky toffee pudding. Very relaxed ambiance for dinner or a professional meeting.
S. P.
Always love it here.
Pretty trendy but with the comforting feel of a country pub. In a lovely location with its own little pond and fantastic walks just across the road.
Food is very good quality and service is also very good.
A. M.
Great pub, great night. A particular thanks to our waiter Sam, he makes a mean martini
L. G.
Love this place.
You walk in and smell the gorgeous lillies in the entrance way.
Go to the bar and are always served without waiting in non hectic times and minimal wait in hectic times,
Staff are all lovely and really good, smiles all round here!
It is set back from a main road, and has an air about it of calm class.
I regularly go here with females friends for drinks. Great for lunches, great for dates (pre-boyfriend times!), good for evening drinks. An solid all rounder that is always reliable and a solid bet for a decent drink in decent surroundings.
Think I am back there tonight as it goes........
A. P.
Sunday roast was very dry (had the trio of meats). No wonder why they give you bottomless gravy. It was a nice atmosphere though and extensive menu.
P. A.
Lovely country feel pub. Nice atmosphere.
S. S.
A perfect pub for a Sunday lunch. It's always busy here so it's well worth booking ahead and then getting through the fight to find a space in the car park. But once inside your met bet very firendly hospitable staff in this family friendly pub, set in the more picturesque (and well-to-do) part of Barnet. Sit outside or in, it's a good day out.
P. H.
Slow service, small portions. Do two fishcakes served on a tablespoon of wilted spinach constitute a main dish? I do not think so, but that is what you get at the Orange Tree. The fishcakes we're however quite tasty. Some peas, green beans and brockalli would have complimented the fishcakes and resulted in a reasonable main dish.
Service at lunchtime was so slow that a two course meal with drinks and coffee took two hours. There was a note on the bar advertising for staff. They certainly need them. The present staff were perfectly polite, but obviously could not cope with serving lunch and drinks at the bar.
S. H.
A bit disappointed with the food today, the spit roasted chicken had no lemon and garlic wasn't roasted enought.. It was my mum's birthday and she was disappointed with the roast rib of beef it was very fatty and roast potatoes where very hard.
Overall the service was excellent.
I think the eton mess was a bit expensive for a deconstructed eton mess (because that what it was) not worth the price.
I think it time for a menu overhaul Orange Tree.
C. M.
Very busy but friendly atmosphere, good salad and desserts to die for, especially choc bomb with a surprise at your table! Some parking and seating outside. Nice walks nearby.
P. J.
It's always a risk trying somewhere new but this was definitely worth it. Great menu with well prepared and presented food. Friendly and efficient staff.
D. S.
Beautiful restaurant, food is creativity presented, great service.
P. S.
It's such a shame, food is poor, small portions and bizarre combinations of ingredients. It's not a pub and it's not a restaurant, I don't know what it is. Staff are nice enough and location is dreamy.
I think the owners should take the manager to the Rising Sun in Mill Hill and see what can be achieved.
P. D.
Haven't yet eaten here but love a cold drink in the gardens on a hot day. Fab place. All the charm of a country pub yet so close to town.
z. c.
Good atmosphere, nice food and good service, particularly from Marcel!
V. D.
I was on holiday visiting family and took my sister and niece here for a birthday lunch. We enjoyed a fabulous fresh meal in a lovely setting. It is not the first time we've eaten here and it is certainly not the last!!
A.
Great burgers 🍔 but you can smell the odor of a dog as they are allowed inside the restaurant. 🤢. I don’t know what someone would do if they were allergic to dogs 🐕.
M. M.
Love this place
I great sitting outside customer service is friendly and food is delicious
F. D.
I couldn't reccomend this eastablishment more, it's a lovely pub with nice surroundings and a friendly atmosphere. The bar staff and management were particularly good, I was greeted with a warm welcome. Aswell as excelllent recommendations on the food and wine. If you want a nice hidden pub garden this is the spot! Also the cute pond at the front didn't go a miss aswell. So glad I stumbled across this little treasure, I will make sure this is my regular from now on.

Nice place, with good food. You need to be aware of the fact that this place is mostly jam packed full of people. So call up and book a table in order to save yourself from a wasted journey or disappointment.

Good food and good service.

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere and lovely menu. Drinks reasonably priced and food is delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. In the summer there is outdoor seating by the pond.
C. P.
Great location, nice ambience, friendly staff, excellent food. The set menu is good value and dogs are welcome in the bar area.
F. L.
Wonderful food. Fast unobtrusive service. Would recommend.

Meh ... the Orange Tree was a bit of a disappointment truthfully. We'd read some mixed reviews saying that although the service was a bit poor at times, the food was generally good however I found it to be the other way around entirely. The service was generally fine, perhaps a little slow, but we found the food to be really quite poor. The Rib-Eye steak that I ordered was very gristly and had huge amount of fat running through most of it meaning that I could eat less than half of it. My children's 'Chicken Lollipops' were inconsistent with one of them being very tough and hard to eat. The Chocolate Brownie was not a brownie at all. It was a tasteless slab of luke-warm sponge. Bleh. Ok ... it wasn't the worst meal ever but it was quite a let down and for £80.00 for two adults and two children, it wasn't cheap either. I might go back there in the Summer to sit in their garden and have a drink but I wouldn't go back to eat there.

Had a really lovely time tonight celebrating a birthday. The restaurant was very full, and the staff worked hard to make sure everyone was attended, with excellent customer service.

Haven't been here for a long while but was pleasantly surprised. Very comprehensive menu, good atmosphere and service. Highly recommended

I confess to having low expectations, but the food and service were all very good. They had a couple of nice ales. Prices were not too high. An enjoyable location

Regular drinking spot at the end of a long walk through the countryside, only spolied by lack of outside seating. That seating that is available with a view of the duck pond is spoiled by the stream of huge vehicles dumped right in front of you by parents picking up their children from school. Easy to get to by bus.

One of the good and cosy pubs around the corner. The food menu is beats the variety of drinks served at this place. Limited vegetarian options. They don't have many vegan options.

Lovely Lunch and nice setting for any occasion! Had a lovely Fillet Steak with a delicious side salad fabulous dressing yummy! Xx
S. M.
Lovely food, friendly helpful waiter - restaurant itself absolutely freezing! We did mention it - they said heating was on. I suggested they turn it up! I ate with my coat on! Shame.

Lovely beer garden with shade and sun. Went there with friends. Some good dishes, some not so great. Overall a nice pub and clientele.

2/8 of us did not have a good meal. And yet another 'gastro' place with stingy management. Not enough staff so service was slow. Mostly the food was okay though. Place is expensive more due to the Totteridge location than the quality.
C. B.
Nice atmosphere, Sunday roast was OK. The pork loin wasn't great so some the chicken from my fiance 😀. Might have just been unlucky as other food coming from the kitchen looked great.
M. B.
Beautiful place with really good food.
Our server Tina was excellent. Definitely will be back!

Typical country style pub in the middle of London with a beautiful setting lush pond outside and seating

My fave gastro pub in London. Great food, nice crowd. Got a lovely local feel. Location is scenic too
S. L.
Another pub I frequented a long time ago.Is now a restaurant, which is excellent and a bar which is really somewhere to sit while waiting for a table.Lovely setting. Not cheap.
G. T.
Very good food and nice area to sit outside. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hard to believe it's possible to find such a nice country pub in zone 4.
R. K.
Ill be honest the food has gone down heavily esp the roast. Nice place to get a drink but during the winter periods there isn't much seating and parking is a nightmare.

A great place with a delicious breakfast, friendly team, and good service, I would only suggest a better acknowledgement when going in rather than been ignored for a couple of minutes whilst stood in front of the team member, other wise would have been 5 🌟
D. R.
Service a bit slow.....but I highly recommend the tempuri squid. Me personally I fully enjoyed it.
c. G.
Great food excellent service , thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Below Average Food at Above Average Prices.
Parking impossible and very slow (although kind) service. Only gets away with it because there’s nothing else around.

The orange tree is great! Have to say a thank you to Jester - he is highly professional, very approachable and even with everything busy, made me and my guests feel special. Not sure if he's management, but if not he should be! Thanks to him for a great night!

Thanks very much ! wonderful people !

Lovely lively atmosphere and the Sunday roast was delicious .Service was attentive but not too intrusive. Can't wait for our Christmas day meal which we've booked
K. B.
Didn't see too much of the pub as it was a sunny day and we sat outside, there's a lovely garden area with a pond (it's a bit murky but it is home to lots of fish!). Good prices for drinks and the food looked delicious.
C. K.
Great venue , you don't realise you are in North London . A very village feel to location . Sunday roast was average .
R. T. M.
Lovely food and ambience.
W. R.
The food was okay but the service was very slow as there only appeared to be 2 people serving and the restaurant was very cold. Two of out party had to eat with their coats on!

Great Restaurant
Great Location
Great Pub
Food was very good and service was more like a restaurant than a pub.
No complaints, would recommend

Nice decor and nice service, the food was amazing, kofta starters, prawn linguine main with chorizo and brownie and ice cream. Was child friendly too.
S. L.
Limited options for vegetarian and food intolerance diners. I'm sure management will have foresight to amend this. Otherwise A lovely venue, well-versed staff, great atmosphere and beautiful location. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Y. K.
Marcel was great! Got a table outside straight away - great vibe!
S. J.
Fantastic for our Christmas venue. The staff were very accommodating and the entire service was quick and efficient. The food was excellent and definitely worth a visit!

Family meal for 14 several attendees late but the restaurant where really great about us waiting food lovely portions big and well presented good choice of drinks and cocktails booking needed at the week end I think
A. S.
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a good hearty meal in a lovely 'country pub'

have been a regular for many years. Always a lovely place to get a drink with friendly staff that will always have a chat when avaliable.
S. M.
Lovely food! The cocktails were divine! Excellent service.
J. S.
Delicious menu. A bit more pricey and service can be quite slow when busy (almost always busy during weekend brunch which you should book ahead)

Part of the Mitchells & Butlers Leisure Retail Ltd. chain who are also responsible for the Freemasons Arms in Hampstead Heath. This is a wonderful gastro pub in North London at a gorgeous venue. It's cosy and welcoming. The food was rich but enjoyable. Pricing is moderate to expensive. Service was okay. Would go again, if only because it's cosy and welcoming.
R. A.
The food was so amazing and sitting outside was nice and comfy, and the staff were really nice.
R. P.
I love coming here during my travels. Very good service and extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Mercin was tremendous.
M. L.
Great place, with good food. The service is good too. Nice and welcoming and warming, especially when the fire is on.
T. P.
The pub/ restaurant was satisfactory but the food portions are nouvelle cuisine & no crisps either...
D. L.
Service warm and excellent! However, disappointingly, the chicken, supposedly the centrepiece of the Chicken Salad, was dry by the time it reached our table.
P. L.
Lovely pub - nice atmosphere and good food and wine. Salad was expensive for what it was and they could've made it better but other food I've had there has been lovely!
T. 8. C.
Its a nice pub and good location and especially good in summer with parking. Food is ok but could be better value.
O. W.
Good service. There was a massive leak in the roof above a light next to the bar that seemed to be pretty dangerous....the car park was full of mum's and dad's picking there kids up from school.
G. H. A.
Went there yesterday for the first time, late lunch with the family. Food was great, staff super friendly and patient with the kids.
K. S.
Gorgeous Sunday lunch with a huge menu. Excellent service... Busy pub so make sure you book in advance.
D. M.
We love going there. It is a family place and also a place to chill with friends. Perfect food and great drinks.
E. F.
Really nice place. Was pretty lively when I went which is why I think the service was a bit slow. Definitely would go again.
A. M.
Lovely location feels as though you are out of town - gluten free options - great service
A. K.
Lovely pub with scenic outdoor setting. A little pricey though food good quality. Vegan options available.
S. L.
Friendly staff, nice place for an evening drink. Has ample car parking spaces. Nice vibes, I would recommend a visit.
R. P.
Lovely pub. Clean and contemporary with light spacious feel. Food is not as good for the money but this doesn't really matter too much.
M. D.
Great evening atmosphere in the bar but we went to have dinner the chicken was too dry.
The rest of the food was not well cooked.
D. H.
We had a wonderful evening out. Great food and attentive staff. Well done!
J. M.
Fantastic pub and great staff and service

What a beautiful place to enjoy the summer on their terrace. And what a cossy place to enjoy in the winter in their warm interior. I am inlove with this place. I can't wait to return and have some of their delicious food.

Much improved (Sunday roast) as of June 2021. Updated original review ( 2 to 4 stars).
R. S.
Excellent service and nice ambience. Food was reasonable standard. Overall a very pleasant meal. Very good with our 3 year old.

The food is delicious and very nice environment. Will definitely come back!
PS. I loved the oysters!
R. C.
The food was very good. The services was freindly. Had a lovely time. Would go again.

Nice interior but my starter arrived cold and my main wasn't very good. The waitress kept clearing away things we were not finished with.
C. D.
The food is great & although the service isn't fast. The staff are lovely & are happy to cater to individual needs.
