Reviews of Penderel's Oak - JD Wetherspoon
A. M.
This is what you want from a Wetherspoons pub. Very spacious seating situation - far bigger than it looks from the outside! More likely to get a seat here than the busier, (though far more nicely decorated and impressive), Knights Templar on Chancery Lane. Overall, this is a pleasantly good spot for drinks/food. And you can't beat those sweet, sweet prices.
I. T.
A good Wetherspoons with plenty of seating and lots of nooks and crannies to hide away in for privacy whilst eating or dining. I went for the traditional breakfast. Good food and in time.
J. N.
This is one of the better Spoons. Ale is always well kept and the staff are spot on.
There's also a good atmosphere about the place which let's face it isn't something that you can say about many Spoons.
Good cross section of the community drinking and eating in there.
S. T.
Had a Chicken Tikka Masala for lunch which was decent. The gravy was smooth and flavourful, but the chicken pieces were cut small such that it didn't have a nice bite to it. The rice was fluffy and the crackers were superb. The main letdown was the plain naan which was tough, dry, and chewy.
Overall, I had a typical wetherspoons experience - OK food, good beers, decent pricing
D. M.
Very spacious with some lovely period features. The usual standard of food and drink available- won't win quality awards but good value.
W. B.
If you want some fresh air then, like many pubs, you might consider sitting outside in the garden, but are put off by the smokers. Penderel’s Oak has the solution. A small, secluded garden is at the back of the pub. It’s away from traffic, so is quiet, a plus for a central London pub. Smoking isn’t allowed. Nor is vaping. Signs on the door leading to the garden might be missed, so each table has a ‘no smoking’ sign. Marvellous.
Smokers can go out front, so be warned as that might put you off sitting at a table near the front, especially if the windows are open.
The pub is a good example of a Spoons. You know that the food quality is good and consistent.
An added bonus is that if you order using the app a guest beer with a meal, you do get the right one. At least two other Wetherspoons I went to recently didn’t give me the beer I had ordered. Your receipt just shows ‘Guest Ale’, so I have started to screenshot the order before paying just in case.
The ales I had were £3.49 a pint, not bad for central London.
R. A.
Surprisingly large wetherspoons, you would not think so from the street
P. T.
A good lunch alternative to the usual food retailers and much cheaper overall. A nice hot meal.
U. B.
Classic Wetherspoons with v decent service and staff. Had an issue with another customer and that was swiftly resolved! Food and drink is cheap and cheerful. Would recommend 👍🏻
P. W.
Great prices for drinks in London. Friendly staff. We were are party of 10 who arrived just after 3pm and stayed for about 3 hours.
T. G.
Nice and big, lots of room to sit🪑 and have a drink with a group of friends. Warm and solid pub atmosphere. Drinks come to the table too✨
A. W.
Spacious bar in the perfect location between the city and the west end food is also served here and there's a nice beer garden at the back great for meeting friends
d.
Excellent friendly service, lovely and clean. Fantastic beer and food.
Really liked the oak branches decoration motif in here
P. D. C.
I've tried most of the London Wetherspoons, this is one of my favourites. Great food and a lovely atmosphere. Best of all it's always nice and warm in there. David Charles, David Charles Psychic Ltd.
F. M.
This was in a great location and has a very unique interior in terms of layout.
There is some type of bar cellar type area on the ground floor, which looked like a good place to chill out.
Service was really good and the staff were friendly.
Great spot to start a night out
C. S.
We were looking for a pre-theatre meal on February 12th.
Amazingly, on pre Valentine's weekend, we were able to get a table with ease.
Incredibly, we had two main course meals, two desserts & a bottle of Prosecco for the Princely sum of £25.
Where else could you get such a fantastic deal ???
High Five Wetherspoons 🙌
J. E.
A lovely Wetherspoons in the heart of London. Really pleasant, polite and helpful staff, lots of clean tables and decent chairs all separated off with a Perspex divide. The food was ok, I had fish and chips, husband had a pizza, with drinks included and we also had a tea and a coffee. Where in London (or anywhere for that matter) can you get all that for £20?
H.
Great, clean and welcoming staff. Very attentive towards customers. Food served quickly and overall just a lovely weatherspoons.
m. a.
Not bad for a central London pub. Need better choice of real ales though! Management seemed friendly. A good meeting point for anyone in Holborn.
S. M.
Half way between Victoria and the city, this place was so quiet in the morning offering a really tranquil way to eat breakfast, plugs around for laptops and really friendly staff. Amazing deals on food and drink all day from early until late.
M. H.
The food is standard for a Wetherspoons, that is good quality and excellent value especially for central London. The seating is great with some lovely alcoves lined with bookshelves...very cosy!
Good choice for budget food and drink in comfortable surroundings.
D. C.
Good service and good food! We also loved the decor. Bigger space than it seems at the beginning.
W. B.
It's a Wetherspoon, good real ale and good choice at a good price, staff attentive, and very covid aware.
B.
Not bad good beer cheap a cheerfull. Food ok and cant complain because of the price.
m. w.
Very helpful staff brilliant selection of drinks.cery clean ànd reasonably priced.
A. B.
As far as cheap and cheerful goes they got it down to an art. Really friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Definitely going back.
D. M.
Quite a large pub and busier than the Knights Templar. A nice atmosphere and shared some small plates snacks which were very nice and great value for the money.
M. B.
One of the best spoons I've been in
D. G.
Very spacious pub with a diverse crowd. A pint of Guinness for under £5 at £4.89 was a welcome sight. Defo a pub to drop in to.
w. t.
Brilliant atmosphere, cool staff, cheap but nice new collection of London cask beers. What else u need. Have fun with ur friends or family as big space offer big groups
M. M.
Good buzz for a weekend City pub. Beer - usual JDW selection & quality. Staff fine. Unless there's any adverse comment to make, what can one say about a JDW?
P. B.
Had a great nite.... food & drinks gd... bar staff friendly & helpful... good value for an evening out... we celebrated birthdays 🎂🥂🍾🍗🍨... thank you a good nite 😀🥳
R. B.
Richard Penderell is said to have saved the life of Charles the second in 1652 by hiding him in an Oak tree on his land after Charles defeat at the battle of Worcester...Cromwell troops looked everywhere for him, but dream he would be hiding up a tree...This is a great pub..and certainly one of the better Wetherspoons, value for money, well staffed, and excellent service.
A. M.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon, rather quiet, both beer and wine were good but I do rather object to overly "efficient" bar staff who take away one's glass when one's companion is still drinking... Terrible manners!!
I. P.
One of the best wetherspoons in London, good staff, great surroundings, food and drink as you would expect.
A. W.
Good bears, freindly staff, food was disappointing, had a curry and the popadom looked like it's been soaked in a bucket of oil, seems this is the norm in all the wetherspoons I've been in, always given feed back to staff.
M. C.
Very traditional English pub, very spacious! Food was good and the Sunday set menu it's very convenient. I'll add that I really like the wetherspoon application, that you can now find in all pubs of the company, because finally there is a minimum of table service even in pubs.
J. A.
Place is fine but seating is a bit weird when you come in. Feels like you're on a train.
M. P.
wetherspoon or not it doesnt matter. This place doesnt have any music and their drinks are drugged
S. B.
Modern Wetherspoon in busy area but not too crowded! We had a wonderful and delicious fish and chips deal with drinks, I tried the Abbot Ale, an extraordinary Real Ale!
It's a classic meal in a classic pub with, of course, classic pints! We love it!
G.
Beer is very cheap at £1.99 a pint of Green King IPA The food was OK, I had a beef burger the burger was as expected but the chips weren't crisp but for the price, whose complaining!
A. M.
Really good food for breakfast and lunch. Wide range of beers and soft drinks. I really appreciate helpful keepers. Definitely recommend stopping by :)
S. W.
The burgers are good. Role-players should also take note that the Pathfinder Society holds a meet here on the 4th Sunday of each month.
J. G.
Had lovely steak meal there tonight. Cooked perfectly. Lovely staff.
K.
One of few places open on Sunday night offering food.
C. S.
Fast drinks, very homely feeling, especially for central London. Wetherspoon never fail.
C. D.
Most of the Food was cold, including the overdone toast.
M. D.
Ate here all week as working away, which is handy if you are using a company card as prices are good for the area. Food was great every night and service was very quick. Worth a visit for sure.
P. L.
Great breakfasts! Pub is spacious with tasteful decor....like sitting in a cosy library in a stately home! Staff helpful and friendly, and food good value for money as ever at a Wetherspoons establishment.
N. D.
Definitely value and very obliging staff.
Well.
Most of the time.
Went in on Thursday for curry night.
They had no poppadoms which was included in the price so....
They gave me nothing in replacement.
Very very poor decision
G. L.
Surprisingly good prices for steak and beer as well. The food was nice, just the table was not cleaned.
L. H.
Well worth, seeking out. Spacious well-lit pub with good food and a great choice of beers,
D. B.
One of the better Wetherspoons in the area. A large clean pub with lots of seating the food is above average served quickly by friendly helpful staff. I’ve been here several times always had a good experience
p. h.
Beer quality good but range not as extensive as it might have been
S. A.
Lovely chill vibe, great meal deals with burger or steak combo +drink! Bright decor, welcoming pub scene. Fab hangout spot!
A. V.
Just had a large breakfast and swapped a few things out. This had got to be 1 of the best wetherspoon i have eaten at. Staff are friendly and nice. Plenty of seating area.
T. M.
Like all Wetherstone pubs the prices are very good but this pub also has the advantage of being classy as well.
D. j.
Breakfast was good, but service is very slow
F. d. C.
Good pub nice and busy on a Thursday night
being a Wetherspoons reasonable prices
J. M.
Lovely staff and much nicer atmosphere than other Wethespoons pubs in the area
J. F.
Very large Wetherspoon with a downstairs area as well. Good for a night out or a quiet pint. Service always good, very clean.
N. B.
A fine establishment beautifully decorated and friendly staff food and beverages good as well
P.
Good service and greetings from the 2 young ladies, followed by 2 good breakfasts.
S. C.
This is a nice wetherspoons. The managers there are both lovely and friendly and they make an effort to make you feel welcome whilst having to be hyper vigilant because of covid rules. The food is what you'd expect from wetherspoons but is better than most. The service is quick and they ask if you want table service or to use the app thereby not excluding the less technologically advanced customer
T. B.
Very nice stumbled on this little watering hole whilst lost as a tourist staff were really helpful with directions and food and drink superb fantastic location too and beautifully clean
K. H.
Cheap if get a meal, but the burger is bad, however, great and free HP sauce
R. D.
Great Staff, Great service, as well as good meal deals which they include drinks with meal deals like sirolione stake and chips with a pint for £9:57, amazing
R. N.
Very friendly staff. I've enjoyed the back patio in the summer. It's attracts everyone from students to pensioners. Does what it says on the tin
I. D.
Lovely atmosphere, 1 £ for coffee that can be refilled unlimited
J. P.
Food was absolutely delicious. Fair price for quality and quantity. Cosy atmosphere and great for drinks too.
J. V.
Brilliant wetherspoons - had a very nice relaxed brunch here in a nice setting
Z. p.
Very busy all the time nice food and great prices.
S. R.
Myself and my son were looking for somewhere to have a late breakfast and we came across this pub. They were covid aware and compliant and cleaning was in progress for most of our visit somewhere in the distance. I had a comfortable visit here, the food was lovely and I'd definitely go back if in the area.
R. D. R. R.
The local is very clean and with the air conditioner set properly. This is one of those wetherspoons with pizzas, I wish putney wetherspoons had also pizzas.
B. W.
Great value... Decent choice of drinks and food at great prices for central London.
B. H.
Decent sized spoons but messed up our table's order leaving people without drinks
r. d.
Lovely pub with plenty of seating and general
Space.
Also, great factual history of the building as well.
G. R.
More intimate Pub than Shakspears Head just around the corner, at Holburn Underground Station but both great Wetherspoons Pubs.
P. J.
Serve well kept beer. Friendly staff. Will be back there when next in Holborn
T. L.
Great atmosphere, plenty of space, food for a great price and efficient staff, what more can you ask for. Great space for playing board games/card games while having food and drink
J. O.
Great spoons great prices lovely staff
A. K.
Really nice and staff were brilliant. Quick polite and helpful service. Very impressed for the W.spoon chain. It's shows when they have good staff.
C. R.
Great service and nice food. Honest prices
C. G.
Have used this pub many times over the years. The staff are always polite and as tentative as they can be even when it's very busy. Prices are acceptable and there's always seating
They have done as much as they can to keep their customers and staff safe regarding covid safety measures also.
M. C.
Lovely little place, quite cosy with booths.
T. T.
My favourite Wetherspoon as it is close to home.
Love how much seating space it has, both upstairs and downstairs. Apart from this it has a great selection of food/drink at affordable pricing, which is amazing in an area like Holborn that is extremely expensive.
Also, the staff are always nice, and we always order via the app and can say the food/drink arrives super quick.
If you haven't already you have to try the breakfast menu, it is amazing!
One thing I'd add? Soup! I love soup and considering how many veggies they already have for other foods it'd be easy to make. Nothing beats a Pea Soup from a pub!
N. E. S. M.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Good food as well, and I enjoy the comfort of being able sit in a booth, as well as the cellar bar downstairs. Prefer the atmosphere of this Wetherspoons over the Shakespeare's Head 'Spoons just down the road.
D.
Great food and service and a fast value for what you get. Also very clean and nice bathrooms.
A. L.
God selection of beers and spacious. Friendly staff.
M. N.
We have always enjoyed this pub.. especially after out monthly pagan event at nearby Hall. Large friendly highly affordable lots of seats and tables to hang out with small or large groups of even 20 people. Coffee is unlimited . Breakfast is good for under £4. Can't go wrong .
K. L.
Nice place and lovely staff.
R. B.
I enjoyed eating there as the staff were friendly and there were free refills on the tea and coffee
L. F.
Often visit the Knight's templar instead, but still a good spoons
K. S.
My favourite after work pub. Simply the best!
B. W.
Nice vibes, good food, and cleaner than I expected.
J. G.
Clockwork orange meal due to wooden triangle and panelled wooden areas. The globe lights remind me of a Dario Argento (related to Asia) directed giallo film. Never seen any chips like these. Toilets are very nice, wooden surfaces everywhere. 8.7 for the tree, similar to a primary school logo.
S. M.
I was served a good pint of Guinness; the barmaid was from Ireland so she poured it properly and was friendly. The price is reasonable for central London at £4.59 a pint. We went downstairs to the basement bar which initially was not busy and didn't get so until after 5 p.m. We later had nibbles and the food was to a good standard and the table kept clear by bar staff. Customers were also mainly professional and well behaved and my colleagues enjoyed themselves. Will be visiting again.
D. C.
This was a nice place to get my lunch. Got the Tennesee Burger, which was really good, fries weren't too nice, sure the were slightly under cooked but I was very hungry and would settle for anything. I predominantly went there to charge my phone that was on 15%. There was a real lack in Plug Sockets. Just feel somewhere in Centre London should have more sockets for customers to want to stay longer and spend more money. Anyway after friendly gentleman were leaving, swooped in like a hawk. Got my phone charged, had 2 pints and my food. The staff were friendly. And never stopped moving, which is great to see. Was a good layout, not stuck near bar, just other food eaters.
c. l.
Nice little place to stop and have a beer or whatever you rather, clean tidy friendly staff, all round good find
P. M. G.
I'm not a huge Weatherspoon's fan but this is a nice place to go for a pint. Very clean place and the staff are friendly and helpful.
M. L.
Large, comfortable pub
D. N.
As Spoons go this is a good one. Usual massive bar room. Good range of beers at reasonable prices for Central London. Usual food, but seemed a little better to me than some others in the Chain. Very pleasant staff at bar and not too busy on a Saturday lunchtime. There was a celeb in (Gorgeous George).
S. S.
Love this pub. Great food, especially the breakfast here is fantastic. Great value as well.
D. H.
Best Weatherspoons I have been in ❤️❤️❤️☺️
K. C.
Excellent pub with large family area. Good descent food and affordable for centre of London. Service is friendly, toilets were very clean and overall, a very good experience. No long waiting times, pizzas were always delivered considerably faster then the rest of the food, but didn't matter. Was just a matter of 5 minutes.
R. P.
Lovely tree in the centre of the pub and yummy pizza! Also has a cellar which was cool and meant there was plenty of space!
R. A.
A busy pub with a good range of beers and a extensive menu. The roast and burgers are generally good; much of the other fayre can be a bit varied in quality; though much improved on a couple of years ago. The service is prompt even at busy times. The staff are efficient but too busy be friendly and it lacks warmth. It is reasonably well decorated; looks more like a library/gallery. Family friendly and a good place to meet friends.
J. B.
I have been visiting this Wetherspoons for years. It's a great place to come when its not too busy for a cheap meal and a few drinks. I particularly like the booth tables. I really like the app which lets me order from the table without queuing at the bar. There is a great range of drinks and I appreciated the selection of gins available at the Gin Festival (however one that I wanted to try was unavailable).
However it is let down by how busy it gets, particularly during evenings and weekends. Sometimes next to impossible to get a table, and empty tables are often not cleaned for ages. In the evenings it can also get extremely loud and crowded in here, so not a great environment to get a bite to eat or have a chat.
I also dislike how paper straws are not bought with my drink, and I am not even able to get my own from the bar like I used to be able to, so I have to ask a member of staff each time I need a straw (which sometimes involves having to wait at the bar) which is frustrating.
T. C.
Classic steak is lovely. Make sure you remember to order a sauce, otherwise it's served plain.
D. P.
Good food, very reasonable prices, fast and friendly service, and immaculately clean
A. G.
Decent one Saturday when the pin stripes are off to their second homes.
L. D.
Great staff. And good food. Thanks
T. F.
Excellent pub. Usual wide menu that you would expect from a Weatherspoons. Lots of seating in quite a few separate areas which makes this my go-to pub for impromptu meetups as you can nearly always find room for a group. The staff are on the ball so the service is excellent. Recommended.
J. M.
Huge boozer that has a great range of ales and some brilliant pub grub. Do go here after work or if you're nearby. The staff are attentive and swift to serve. Highly recommended and I love a pint here at the end of a working day.
T. B.
A good spoons and welcome in the area, staff were very friendly here not always as nice as this in a spoons pub, food was above average as well
C. G. D. S.
A great spoons, lots of different areas to take advantage of, there's a open area with tables and stools near the entrance, in the back is a family area with lower seating, beyond that there is a small beer garden / outdoor area. Downstairs has lots of seating for larger groups. All these areas available for using the app to order which is strongly recommended. The range of different areas makes it ideal of any kind of group you bring.
G. T.
Good standard of cleanliness. Pleasant bar staff and food was good.
M. D.
Reasonable prices. The shift manager was very attentive
I. D.
Great atmosphere and service, though prices were higher due to being in central.
N. J.
It's a Wetherspoon so you know what you're getting but they friendly and welcoming. Lots of local community groups and activities use it as a base (including us). It's big, bright and airy. Table service via the app and decent food at great prices. I mean if you go in the morning and get a breakfast sandwich with a coffee for £3 you can carry on with refills for the whole day. That's frankly ridiculous value!
D. Z.
With Whetherspoons pubs you are always in a nice place. We came in with only 45 minute time available before going to the theatre. We ordered our food and drinks by using the app and after 12 minutes we had our food even though the pub was completely full. Impressive. I wish I had such a pub in my town.
S. R.
What a wonderful experience I had at this pub! I ordered a premium tuna mayo sandwich, which came in a special, Covid secure sandwich box (very impressive). The sandwich was packed with flavour, they had obviously used the best quality fish and I think the bread was freshly baked, very very soft.
I would recommend this pub to anyone visit the Holborn/Chancery Lane area. Only disappointment was the limited menu. They didn't have any bryndzové halušky which saddened me, but the tuna sandwich was enough in the end!
K. P.
Nice selection of beers, unfortunately kitchen was closed at the time.
G. G.
It's a Wetherspoon's. So, you already know what it's like. Good location, good prices.
j. A.
A nice big pub, and being a Wetherspoon, it's cheap as chips and its chips are cheap. So is the beer, and there is a great selection here. I personally like this pub because it is boardgames friendly, especially if the downstairs bar is open. Food here is a solid choice too. A bit soulless in comparison to other pubs, and when it gets busy it can feel very cramped, but this is a fine place to be when you're in the area and fancy a pint of ale.
P. S.
Very nice pub with a good selection of beers
A. G.
A lovely pub in the centre of the city. Penderel's Oak is significantly bigger than it seems - a very large basement and long ground floor.
I visit every week for DnD with friends and an always very happy with the food/drinks and service. Their app/table service is excellent and the staff and friendly and easy going.
It can get busy and rather noisy, but some nights are much quieter and more relaxed.
R. C.
Lovely spoons, has a nice beer garden which is nice for central london lots of lovely little details you dont normally get with spoons. Nice staff and quick service. Also they had a touch screen which had the allergy information on which I was very impressed with.
C. w.
Lovely chilled atmosphere
S. S.
Nice and quiet during the Xmas interim, for a good catch up chat with my mate Richie Rich. We both had the large mixed grill, very nice. Fosters was kind of like Fosters really, but that was cool too. Finished off with a nice latte.
P. C.
A good busy pub/restaurant. The food is always of a good standard, and you can normally find somewhere to sit.
The staff are friendly and efficient. The surroundings are reasonably spacious with seating on two levels and some tables outside for those wishing to smoke.
N. G.
Stopped in there for a quick lunch, used the app to order food and drinks for the first time. Food was actually decent, the fish was really good. It was a clean Wetherspoon's and didn't have that musty smell.
C. V.
Been to this Wetherspoons quite a few times and had a pretty good experience each time. The place is usually pretty busy, but what do you expect from this area? However, even though it’s busy I have always managed to find a seat which is great.
The food is usually prepared rather quickly, which is what spoons restaurants are known for.
My only complaint is that it should be a bit more tidy in the seating area. Particularly the carpet and chairs feel a bit questionable.
S. H.
Fast service. Nicely cooked food. We had burger and chips and tuna mayo jacket with salad. All good 😍 Very large pub and garden. Large stylish cellar bar. Excellent toilets.
T. M.
As good as any other Wetherspoons
D. L.
Really lovely place, very nice building and staff we brilliant
A. N.
Every day spoons. Not much to say. Very big has a down stairs people from the outside won't relaise
K.
Always busy, but so huge place. As Whetherspoon... never disappoints. And there's something awesome here! They've started serving pizza on a menu. And it looks amazing, of course with good price.
I like the place. Even on a Friday afternoon I was lucky to find a table even though it was very crowded :) Bartenders very efficient and professional.
B. M.
A good selection of real ales and lagers. A variety of meals on offer with good table service. The phone ordering app encouraged my friends to purchase more alcohol and biscuits. The waitress dropped a tray of drinks as she slipped on the steps in the small rear courtyard seating area. Drinks were promptly replaced.
K. K.
Great Wetherspoons pub. Absolutely huge inside, you usually can find a seat even at the busiest times. Cheap prices on food & drinks, as are all J D Wetherspoons. Great value & nice food, decent portion sizes too. Staff seem to genuinely enjoy being there, and speak excellent English (or are British / Irish) which is refreshing to understand & be understood.
C. B.
One of the best wetherspoons I have been to
T. S. W.
My favourite pub. Massive but with personality. Been drinking here for about five years and recommend it to anyone who wants to sit with a lot of friends at short notice. They treat us well despite understandably short staff rotation in a Spoons.
N. C.
Went for brekkie and it was fab. And boy I needed it. Went for the vegetarian option as fancied 2 sausages rather than 1 on the non vegetarian option, and it hit the mark. Was quiet due to Covid, but staff were good and felt very safe.
J. S. (.
Lovely spoons, the interior is nicely decorated and I would recommend going here over the other local Spoon's, since it's a little quieter and a much nicer atmosphere inside. The staff were very helpful and the pubs layout is well thought out.

Brilliant weatherspoons. Really nice decor and touches. Food, drinks and service are very good as well.
C. L.
Pretty standard wetherspoons, you know what to expect! Service via the app was hit and miss, sometimes 5 mins but other times up to 15, despite not being overly busy. Prices between the app and the bar seem to differ (both more and less expensive) which needs to be addressed.
D. R.
Decent spoons with a nice range of real ales and ciders
B.
Quick service good beer great prices
S. W.
Awesome venue and awesome staff what more is there to say
D. S.
I was very happy to come here for a Sunday lunch with a friend. The service was friendly and cheery, plus our food came quickly.
We arrived about 12pm, but by the time we left at 1.30 it was getting really busy. If you want a quieter lunch and your pick of seating, midday will help you to beat the crowds.
d. b.
Typical Wetherspoons, so you know what you are going to expect -good value beer and food. Only issue is that it is a high crime location. Signs on all tables about bag theft. Even has clips under the tables to attach bags to, which I have never seen before.
J. A.
Don't expect to get a seat on any given evening. A whole table wasn't available due to leak in ceiling?
Service is questionable. Student bar staff not the most attentive to order of customers waiting.
A busy, brash and cheap option for drinks in the city!
G. W.
Great spot for a drop in drink or full meal. Exceptional value for money. Great little courtyard at the back
A. Y. B.
A great place located in Holborn, this pub has very nice underground seating and the food there is amazing, especially their loaded fries and their fish and cheesy fries. Drinks are relatively heaped than most other pubs in central locations and it is a great place to start conversations with strangers
E. G.
It's an ok place if u want something instant to eat + at reasonable prices. You order + pay in advance at the bar + you never wait too long b4 ur order is served at ur table. Each day there are different deals, these include a main + a drink , either a soft drink or alcoholic. And u hv a big menu with lots of choices. I believe it's good value for money given that u r in central London.
C. w.
Your standard wetherspoons experience, cheap but not fantastic food and cheap beer. Asked for the 14oz sirloin steak rare and my guest asked for the steak well done and they came out the same so shows a lack of either a Meat thermometer, staff experience or the cook is just apathetic. Apart from that it was good value and the drinks were cheap. Let's just say I wouldn't go spoons for date night.
K. M.
Always great value with Weatherspoon, well run, great selection and service, recommended
S.
Prices a bit higher than a normal wetherspoon but it's in central London so it's fair (still remains cheaper than other pubs), the food is good and cheap
Really love the fact the fact that you can order from your table with the app.
D. S.
Unbelievably busy and noisy but we managed to get a table. Our food was good and came within a short period. The Abbot ale was enjoyable.
J. S.
Fairly quiet for a spoons, nice staff, nice building
G. R.
Was in the Oak yesterday. After being in a pub across the road (named after another city), where the staff were gloomier than the surroundings, it was great to come into a pub where the staff were friendly and smiling, especially as they were a lot busier. Thanks especially to Natasha, whose cheeriness was certainly infectious. Will definitely be back next time I'm in London. Thanks from Scotland!
D. (.
I have been going into the Penderel's Oak since 1999 when i worked in the building next door..
Its spacious, has enough seating and clean facilities.
It's one of the few Whetherspoon Pubs to play good music, which is the main attraction for me.
I have had a good burger and chips in there too.
Friday nights can get really busy, but during the week would be ideal for a moderate quiet dinner/date/drinks.
K. D.
Spotlessly clean loos. Decent, attentive staff who sorted the matter of someone else claiming my pint which I'd ordered on the app very promptly. Standard wetherspoons grub, but it was served very quickly and it was hot.
V. B.
Another best of Wetherspoon to visit in the city of London. Very close to Chancery Lane station, very good ambience, good food and reasonably priced drinks.
Staff are very friendly and professional. Recommend anytime of the day. A must visit...
J. H.
If you enjoy Wetherspoons you'll know what to expect. This one manages well to create a cosy feeling right on the heart of London with some clever angles and interior design.
Some tables also come with shelves of books at the side, with an impressive range considering its all in a pub.
The bathrooms, in true Spoons fashion, are a bit out of the way, it feels almost like searching for treasure in a cavern.
As ever, lovely pints and no music to ruin your mood or conversation
S. D.
Nice pub,great location.
N. T.
Good range of cheaper beers in the heart of London
J. W.
Big pub with lots of beer choice
S.
Lovely place, fantastic service, great staff
S. P.
Nice bar and seating. Typical food and hospitallity from staff. Warm day and all the front windows open. Great, but all it did was let in the smoke from the front of the pub. Only stayed for one.
T.
Solid pub near to Chancery Lane and Holborn stations. It's a Wetherspoons so you know what to expect: obnoxious Brexit advertisement (boo!), cheep beers (yay!), and mediocre food (meh). The decor is nice too, as most pubs around this area are to be fair.
There is a downstairs cellar bar which is nice to go down to and helps the upstairs get less crowded, but the pub always seems understaffed (thanks Tim Martin). Furthermore, staff can sometimes be rude and turn away customers from the pub altogether for having no ID, despite them clearly being closer in age to 30 than 21, let alone 18.
Overall it's a pretty good pub, if you're in the area I'd recommend it. Also there are open until midnight most days which is nice as other pubs in the area close earlier, infuriatingly.
A. A.
Good time, cozy ambient, polite crowd, good service
S. S.
Great coffee and unlimited refill!
a. T.
Great little pub with beer garden that was unfortunately busy when I arrived but found good seats and table service if you have their app.. ordered food and drinks at the bar with exceptional service and food arrived very quick and was yummy.. will definitely go back if I'm in the area
C. S.
Lovely big pub and table service was good. Prices excellent.
E. W.
A warm welcome when I arrived at the bar, an attentive, friendly member of staff helped with a table next to a plug point in order to charge my phone. Efficient, great customer service from all the staff on both floors :- Danny, who was waitering at my table, from the fast app. And Michael at the Cellar Bar, downstairs. Helpful with table arrangements, near to a phone charging section.
P. G.
I find this pub to a good one with a good feel. I'd advise anyone ordering food to check and then double check to make sure they record what you order correctly. Three times in the last fortnight they've got it wrong. Other than that all is great.
D. E.
Open again after the lockdown.
Relaxed atmosphere, nice to sit and study, have a few drinks with friends. Food same as always.
Much better experience than other places I've been to.
S. H.
Very nice place and plenty of seats and standing place. Bigger inside than it looks and it has another bar downstairs and also has an outside seating area at the back. The food was very good
m. c.
Even though a West End premium, still great value. Good range, Super-busy, though the bar staff still whipped through the orders, and the door team dealt very professionally and quickly with an outbreak of rowdiness. Good work.
B.
Nice pub on 2 floors. The usual great beer that you find in any JD Wetherspoon. Empire State burger and chips and onion rings and a beer for £10, I found it value for money.
A. B.
Ate here with a colleague. Had the Pasta Super food salad with chicken topping and a pint of IPA from the tap. Together came down to about £12.50. This is mainly because of the beer (£4.60). If you would take a pint of regular beer (London Pride), you'd pay £1.50 for it, if I recall correctly.
When the waitress brought the food, I was a bit disappointed by the size of the portion, but when I finished I was glad the portion wasn't larger. Fills up quite nicely and the taste was fine.
Never ever have seen any of the waitresses smile there for just a bit. Looked like they all just returned from a funeral.
S. S.
It is a cosy Wetherspoon. There are nice cells with sockets nearby so that you can work with your laptop while sipping your coffee. They are very comfortable and well lit compared to the rest of the place. The difficult thing is to find an empty one as they are always sought after by the visitors. I always pop in during day time, especially at lunch time but i haven't had a meal here before. I'd recommend this place as an interim between the meetings.
K. W.
Friends tried calling in advance to book tables or an area and told flat out no they didn't have any room but I went in person and asked and was given a lovely area, perfect for all, by the main doors. A great night was had by all and I was a regarded a "hero", not the one they wanted but the one they needed.
A. G.
It's a Weatherspoons. If you don't mind that you'll like it here. Decent selection of beer and fair prices for Central London. £35 for a meal and a drink for 3 isn't bad going.
N. H.
Just went for a quick lunch while working in the area. The staff seemed pleasant and the food we had was good. It was quite busy for a Sunday which was a good sign too. I'd be happy to stop off there again sometime.
J. T.
Just what we needed for a quick bite but not a lot of atmosphere
E. Z.
The outside patio was great, however found the staff to be quite rude , not much customer skills there .
C. B.
Great pub with low prices. Plenty of seating available with a bar downstairs as well. We will definitely be coming back here again when we next pass.
R. B. B.
What's not to like about a Wetherspoon's? Beer is cheaper than other bars in central London. Food is great all day. I always try to find a Wetherspoon's when I'm going for a pint or something to eat.
S. B.
I Nice pub in a nice neighborhood. When I was there it was ful of people so the noice level was quit high, but other then that I is a nice pub. Good menu, i had a burger and a pint for a good price. Will be returning to this pub.
M. F.
One of the nicest Wetherspoon's in the centre of London. Rather dominated by lawyers at some times of day, but not too badly. It's actually quite Dickensian if you listen. In the Summer they open the front up so you can reduce your life expectancy by breathing in the traffic fumes.
C. K.
Great Whetherspoons. Good value for the area.
N. N.
Lots of room with the pub. Some good cask ales, with a fresh family atmosphere. Nicely placed in the centre of london near Chancery Lane underground station, means its perfect for a drink after work, or even a nice stop in for a meal before a show.
Would recommend this place with friends for a nice fun, chilled atmosphere.
i. t.
Big whetherspoon pub on two levels with loads of seating space and nice selection of beers on tap. Make sure you come on time if you booked a table: they reassign it 15 mins after the scheduled time (last slot at 6pm). Food is regular whetherspoon food, good value for money.
L. B. W.
Have patronised this venue on many occasions and never had a bad experience. The latest visit was on Friday evening at about 18.30. As you would expect very busy, however with plenty of friendly, efficient staff serving it took no more than two minutes served.
Having a cider festival running it was nice to see the real ale drinkers were not ignored (6 real cider & 6 real ales on hand pumps on offer)
5 of 6 ciders were in excellent condition (didn't try the 6th as it was sweet, I'm not into sweet cider).
Would recommend this pub to anyone whom likes real ales (and cider) kept in excellent condition.
A. J.
Had a great night with my furry friends! We were all packed in tight so I used the app to order, as I couldn't move 🤣 It was a lot of fun, I had the mangalorian vegetable curry and it was amazing 😍
A. A.
Food has really come up in the past couple of years and it being a Wetherspoons the price us great. They play music and have small dance area downstairs and small beer garden at the back. Definitely try the drive thru burger!
P. D.
Usual Wetherspoons experience. It's consistent with good value. If you're looking for a nice setting this may not be it but the food and drink are reasonable if you're after a quick bite to eat.
D. M.
Not 5 stars just because it didn't appeal to a younger crowd but great bar staff
K. N.
Quite a spacious Wetherspoon's pub. Within walking distance from Chancery Lane tube station. Offers the usual pub classic grubs with an array of craft beers and ales and wines on tap. Can't go wrong with a Wetherspoon and this one is no different.
J. E.
This is a wetherspoons which are generally not well regarded, however this is a fantastic pub in Holborn. The food isn't special but will fill a hole cheaply. The beer here is the standout, with a fantastic range of bottles and craft beers along with your more general range you find anywhere. Downstairs has a Lloyd's bar which is a more younger crowd.
People often rent out sections of the downstairs for meet ups. This bar can get fairly busy though.
Great bar for after work drinks.
H. J.
Really nice place! Massive room for big groups. Nice prices and good service. Table service available downloading the app. Not too busy despite we went on Saturday evening. Highly recommended.
A. Z.
excellent service high standards, clean public places.we absolutely loved it i can only recommend.
M. C.
Nice place, quite a long from the front door to the bar! It's also a bit of a trek of the toilet as you have to go downstairs (I didn't see any wheelchair access but there must be something these days).
M. B.
One of the best Wetherspoons in London.
N. G.
It's a wetherspoons you know what your going to get, nothing amazing also not the worst!
J. O.
It's a nice cosy place with lots of wooden features used everywhere, so it has quite an old saloon style to it. If you download their app, you will also get table service, by ordering whatever you want from it. Brilliant service too.
t. s.
Staff are nice. Not amazing food but it doesn't matter. Big portions of nice cheap pub grub, and who cares about quality when they're smashing pints down their necks? Not me. Location is 👍
J. K.
Very nice , as expected with a spoons . Quick and easy
T. E.
Okay so it is a Weatherdpoons so you need to take that into consideration. It is better than most. Centrally located for meeting and a good selection of food and drink reasonably priced. Lots of room off peak but can be crowded at other times.
J. C.
Standard watherspoon pub offering decent pub grub and an eclectic beer, spirit and wine menu. Staff are generally good and there is a dinning area downstairs away from the clamour of a pub with no music!
A. G.
Good spacious place in central London
T. P.
Lovely warm day. Tried to sit by big open windows. But filled with heavy smoke from the outside smokers, so had to move right indoors. Need to ban smoking from directly outside pub.
B. B.
The Weatherspoon series of pubs are definitely word considering when you are looking for good beer, good food and good service at a reasonable price. We always looked for them are there are plenty around, not just in London but all over th UK.
A. R.
It has become a nice hangout place for me. A good place in budget in central London is hard to find. This is one of them. You have a cellar as well so quite spacious for a small grp too.
S. R.
A bit of an odd place. Seems like the management don't really know what they're there for. Even after a garden refurbishment they failed to serve people on time to the correct tables, all the ashtrays disappeared, there were no umbrellas or awnings to keep the rain off. They do have a cute mouse that visits their beer garden on a daily basis. Which is mice. I mean, nice. Shame they’ve banned all animals apart from lawyers and tourists.
D. F. F.
Typical and traditional London pub for good meals and beers.
Fair food and prices.
Craft Beers, real ales, excellent selection of beers.
This is a restored historic building once owned by Richard Penderel who in 1652 helped King Charles II to escape from Cromwell's troops by hiding him in an oak tree!
E. O.
kat - you made our night. such a lovely lovely host and thank you for the chat. i’m not the biggest spoons fan (cough cough tim “brexit” martin) but i’ll be back because kat was so kind and accommodating <3
D. E.
Good range of beers in good condition
P. P.
Large central London Wetherspoons with nice decor. Only called in for coffee and desserts on a cold rainy January afternoon. Used the app to order but was a bit pointless as hot drinks were served from a machine and you had to help yourself. On the positive side though it was unlimited. Ordered portion of ice cream for additional 65p to go with cheesecake but only realised it was missing later and couldn't be bothered to complain. Hence 4 stars and not 5.
D. M.
Another decent London Spoons pub.
L. F.
A decent Spoons with a few nice touches, such as the legal textbooks along the walls which reflect that it's in the heart of London's legal quarter. However, the decor is quite tatty and for a Spoons it isn't particularly cheap compared to pubs around it. The downstairs also turns into a sort of 'club' in the evenings and it gets really loud.
F. S.
One of my favourite Wetherspoons, large with an additional cellar bar downstairs but don't be fooled as this place is always busy...arrive early if you want a seat
J. M.
Largest pub I've visited so makes this perfect for large groups. Prices are excellent and service is speedy. Will definitely try the food here next time.
A. A.
Great service from the guy at the bar during my visit, food was good and facilities were clean. Let down only by the attendant bringing drinks for my friends who ordered using the app as they were on the receiving end of attitude from the attendant in question.
J. R.
I came here for Dinner with my parents and daughter, felt very welcome from when we came in. I loved the seperate menus for Vegetarian, Gluton Free and Dairy Free. My daughter enjoyed the kids meal. A very enjoyable meal, We will be back when next in the area
P. S.
Always good choice, value and service at Wetherspoon.
C. A.
It's a Weatherspoons so as you'd expect an amazing choice of guest real ales.
Friendly staff and nice decor.
Easy to get to location wise as it's about half way between Chancery Lane and Holborn stations.
b. b.
Big comfortable pub between Holborn and Chancery Lane tube stations. Good for lunches and the after-work snifter. Does great Sunday lunches. The lambshanks with all the trimmings is a must.
T. H.
Exactly what you'd expect from 'Spoons - low prices, traditional decor, adequate pub food and pretty helpful staff. Plus the signature small crowd of 9am lager drinkers.
J.
Spacious pub, so great for big groups. Good selection of beers. I just wouldn't recommend the food.
K. N.
Quite a spacious Wetherspoon's pub. Within walking distance from Chancery Lane tube station. Offers the usual pub classic grubs with an array of craft beers and ales and wines on tap. Can't go wrong with a Wetherspoon and this one is no different.
C. V.
Been to this Wetherspoons quite a few times and had a pretty good experience each time. The place is usually pretty busy, but what do you expect from this area? However, even though it’s busy I have always managed to find a seat which is …
R. W.
A great pub for a drink or meal. Staff are very friendly. Plenty of seating. A great place for friends to meet up and hang out.
j. A.
A nice big pub, and being a Wetherspoon, it's cheap as chips and its chips are cheap. So is the beer, and there is a great selection here. I personally like this pub because it is boardgames friendly, especially if the downstairs bar is …
T. P.
Lovely warm day. Tried to sit by big open windows. But filled with heavy smoke from the outside smokers, so had to move right indoors. Need to ban smoking from directly outside pub.
J. J.
My local. Cheap beer and decent food. Interior feels a bit like a ferry but there's something comforting in that.
K. W.
Friends tried calling in advance to book tables or an area and told flat out no they didn't have any room but I went in person and asked and was given a lovely area, perfect for all, by the main doors. A great night was had by all and I was a regarded a "hero", not the one they wanted but the one they needed.
P. M.
Big place with a big menu. Yeah food was good (we ordered fish and chips) and the drinks were good as well. Staff could be friendlier.
D. Y.
Large pub, good ambiance, lots of good beers, but they do run put of some
Menu for food is also good. Lots of meal deals. Fresh pizza
Lots of tables with good service
K. I.
The food was delicious and arrived spectacularly fast. For somewhere in the center of London I can't fault the service or the staffs politeness.
It's certainly somewhere I'll visit again.
G. P.
Great weather spoons with downstairs seating area. Great down there as no one seems to know about it so no queues at the bar and lots of seats. Also really really nice clean loos!!
A. C.
Fast service and very good food.
F.
One of the very few wetherspoons in Central London. Definitely a good place for a nice meal if you're on a budget.
R. W.
A great pub for a drink or meal. Staff are very friendly. Plenty of seating. A great place for friends to meet up and hang out.
M. O.
One on the best Wetherspoon. Nice food, wide selection of ales. Busy place, but big enough to always find a table. Love it.
D.
Your standard Weatherspoons pub really. Fast service, the usual food but still consistently good as you expect from Weatherspoons and with a fantastic selection of drinks.
A. M.
Nothing fancy, just your usual good Weatherspoon. Was free of football watchers which I appreciated
A. L.
Excellent pub with lots and lots of tables and a few booths facing the main bar. Always a great range of real ales or last time I had toffee Apple cider.
Y. S.
Huge pub, the usual good value meals & drinks but rather packed out from 5pm with City-suited wannabee hipsters, etc. But they tend to leave around 8pm on weekdays so it gets better then.
S. M.
Love pub to drink in very friendly staff
O. B.
Cozy place, nice people working there but only decent beer. They have local ales on tap, but they are disappointingly bland and watery in taste, so I wouldn't come here for a special beer experience.
S. S.
This is a Wetherspoons pub in Holborn and it's up market but the beer is a bit more expensive than my local Wetherspoon's but the food and range of beers are excellent the staff are friendly and it's a nice place for a family get together
M. S.
It's a Wetherspoons so you already know what you are getting: cheap bar prices, bargain adequate food. I rather like this pub; it's quieter than most of them and doesn't feel quite so overwhelming.
C. W.
Usual good value, wide range of food and drink that's available in the Weatherspoon range of pubs. Plenty of room downstairs in the cellar if the ground floor looks busy.
N. M.
Food was great , used the app to order , although I had just ordered food and they had a fire evacuation drill and everyone had to leave , just bad timing and the staff were still great at evacuating everyone ... Would recommend if your in the area
J. E.
This a well run place its run properly always clean tables cleaned after use bar staff well presented beer and wine in our budget smashing pub wish it was my local .
S. M.
It's a Wetherspoon's, so expect exactly that.
J. M.
It's a Wetherspoons but one of the best. Spacious and always seems to have room to sit down. I like the pizzas. Always one of the cheaper but decent places to eat in the centre.
n. s.
A good place to grab something to eat or drink. It's got a big seating area and a outside area too. Staff are friendly and the food we ate was good
T. T.
A nice breakfast with friendly and quick service.
B. B.
The ground floor bar was quite crowded but there is a wonderful spacous cellar bar. At 7.00 on Sunday the cellar bar was closed but by that time there was more space upstairs.
B. B.
Traditional Wetherspoon. The drinks are cheap, Lots of room ideal for big group. Small outdoor area. Great downstairs area for potential private events.
J. C.
A Weatherspoons, which as we all know sells cheap drinks.
I've found that this Weatherspoons is slightly better than the rest.
Does cheap food, which is standard pub food, but really good if that's what you're looking for.
S. M. P.
A very spacious pub with a great selection wines spirits and beers. Food served all day. Pub kept very clean considering how busy it gets.
J. G.
A regular place to have food. Good thing is double shots are not double price but only +1.50 GBP per shot. Also the burger was actually quite ok for 6 GBP! Simply good place to stop, have a beer and well priced food.
J.
Spacious pub, so great for big groups. Good selection of beers. I just wouldn't recommend the food.
J. T.
Good value and choice, didn't have a full meal, just a sharer which was nice. It gets very busy here so pick your time carefully.
N. H.
Large lively pub in the middle if Holborn. All the usual Wetherspoons attributes of a good range of beers and reasonably priced food. Bar is well staffed.
D. B.
It's a Spoons, It offers a huge selection of Beers, wines, spirits and everything in between.
Don't be fooled by the upstairs if it seems cramped, there is a Cellar bar with a fair few more seats.
H. C.
There always seems to be somewhere to sit, even at busy times, which is a huge plus. Make sure you check out the cellar bar. Nice and central. Good atmosphere
L. T.
Just a standard Wetherspoons all ok. But the only one I know what does a manager special. A mixed grill for £6.00.
S. M.
Huge wetherspoons, it goes on and on! I went a Sunday lunchtime so can't comment on what it's like after work but the service was fast for both food and drinks for our large group.
R. M.
This falls between 2 and three , I don't dislike it, but its so bland you won't really rememebr it.
Its just another weatherspoons, cheap beer in Holborn, , its big and usually full on a Thursday and Friday with the local office crowd , having an evening drink, commiserate celebration.
it does have one advantage, its big, so there is plenty of room and its also easy to find, i wouldn't say its a destination pub, but as aplace to meet have a chat and a beer it fills that role nicely
A. G.
Good, centrally located Wetherspoons with outdoor seating. Large range of drinks on offer. Food is good and well priced.
E. K.
A favourite haunt of mine when I'm staying over in that there London. Bit of a rush for tables when ordering so best advice is to dump a jacket at one before going to the bar.
C. P.
Not the prettiest Wetherspoon, but it's a decent one and has loads of seating. The downstairs cellar bar is usually emptier, although the music can be a little loud sometimes.
S. S.
Wetherspoon's pubs tend to be huge and this is no exception. With the upstairs far more identikit to the rest of the chain, it's worth going downstairs to find a bit of character. With the usual low cost food and drinks, there are far worse places to stop for lunch, just temper those expectations. If classic character is what you're after in a pub, just down the road you'll find the Sam Smith's Cittie of Yorke.
M. H.
Good reliable Weatherspoons pub, you know what you're getting. Can be busy but that's what keeps pubs alive. Food ok not al la carte but not al la carte prices.
S. H.
A nice pub in Holborn near to the underground and bus stop
Pub very large over ground and basement although basement bar does not seen to open very often
They have a small beer garden at the back
Prices reasonable for both food and drink
Can get very busy at times but usually not too bad
Worth a visit
C. D.
Good Wetherspoons pub, had a lovely beer here
b. d.
Had small breakfast at penderels Oak two morning's now excellent quality as you can see by the picture all for £4.54 include as much coffee as you can drink beats McDonald's any time and doesn't have an impact on the environment like McDonald's does I e cardboard waste plus Wetherspoons is a lot cleaner 9 am
T. T.
Can I please say the review posted by Stephen McKeough is quite rude and offensive, which i find disrespectful. He states that as most of the people were professional, they were well behaved, how would he know that, did he go around asking everyone? It insinuates that anyone who is not a professional, will be badly behaved which i think is wrong to judge people like that. It's just a swell I'm not judgemental, as following the TV show, when the famous Chef Gordon Ramsay was doing a documentary about the Cocaine epidemic in the UK,it was 90% of professionals, mostly office workers who were the highest amount of drug users. (JUNKIES)
N. P.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, follows all social distancing rules and was easy to check in using NHS track and trace app
J. M.
Brilliant Wethies pub right in the middle of Holborn. Ultra fast service, usual excellent range of drinks and friendly crowd all enjoying after work get togethers.
K. R.
Pretty big pub. Very loud and difficult to talk to people if you're a bug group on a long table. Good pub food for a decent price.
P. C. T.
I like this place. When I go there (after work hours) is always full, and this place is huge (2 floors with plenty of desks and bars....). The prices are okay, but the decor is really good and makes you feel good and relaxed.
C. C.
Decent 'spoons, however there was a significant underpayment of change, which was at best an honest mistake, at worst fraud. However there was top notch nosh. Nice atmosphere, just remember to look at the receipt!
N.
This wetherspoons have pizzas, they are incredibles. I wish in Putney bridge wetherspoons had also pizzas. The air conditioner is not too strong to make you sick and it is very clean and comfortable even the toilets.
C. K.
A good wetherspoons pub not to far from Holborn tube station. The same menu as it's sister pub's not that expensive for London and a nice place to eat and drink.
O.
Never had a problem here. Always find myself in here when out for a few beers. Food has always been good. Never waitied more than 20 minutes for it to be cooked either. I highly recommend this place.
J. B.
Very friendly and nice food
S. W.
Great food and great staff, very helpful.
R. P.
I came here for breakfast one morning which I can highly recommend, the food and plates here hot and catered for my 3 years special request. Note there is another local wetherspoons near by. Come to this one it's much better.
A. S.
Love this place. A lovely central pub for meeting friends/family, work mates. Great food and drink. Excellent value. Wetherspoons are truely on to something.
M. B.
Very nice

It's a big Wetherspoon's so it will be busy. But, there is craft beer sold at good prices when most pubs in the immediate area don't sell craft beer at all.
P. A. C.
Great pub, gets a bit busy but that's a good thing.
Pizza with chillies with a brewdog or four.
Lovely

Beautiful building. Staff fantastic although busy. Food great. Really pleased to see a vegan dessert
A. V.
Great space with plenty of food tables and a nice basement area, and prices are excellent for this location. Ordering food and drinks by app works amazingly well
E. B.
Social distancing done well, and pretty good organisation under the current circumstances. Makes one feel they can visit in safely.
N. B.
One of my favorite central London 'Spoons. The cellar bar has a totally different atmosphere to the upstairs. Also has an outside area at the back.
N. Č.
Good classical Witherspoon pub. Service is polite and fast even during Friday lunch hour. Also very affordable for the area.
K.
The place is nice and I appreciate that it was a busy Friday afternoon, but the staff was rude and the manager was ignoring our simpliest question. (Aka: how long they keep a reserved table when people don't show up.)
J. W.
Lovely Spoons with quick service, a good selection of draughts and tasty cheap food. Plenty of sitting areas but it does get busy at lunchtime or Friday nights.
J. E.
Nice weatherspoons pub in the heart of the city. I've used this several times as a meeting point with friends and service is always quick with a good selection of drinks on offer
D. C.
A recommended choice of weatherspoons, and I could see why. Very spacious, great food and good atmosphere. Very pleased I went over other weatherspoons
R. R.
Nicer than some Wether's pubs, staff friendly, food is fine.
Can't complain as it is what is but a better Wetherspoons bar.
K.
I give four stars for the drinks but 3 stars for the food .smoking area in garden/yard and a ground floor and basement bar popular with students.
Y. N.
Love this pub. Great easy going atmosphere. No angst. Good food and good drink.
J. P.
A traditional breakfast with filter coffee as many refills as you like £6 30p can't go wrong, staff are plight and clean and quite comfortable.
J. P.
Couldn't use app
Many people drinking without meals
Multiple tables of 6 young guys drinking
Food good
A. W.
Great food and great service. Nice and clean too.
R. S.
Perfectly cooked cod in batter.
Good wifi. Ordered via app. Managed to park next to power outlet. Recommend this place
D. W.
Perfect spot for a bit of lunch, lovely atmosphere
A. K.
Very big wetherspoons pub usual beer and foodone member of the bar staff just had no expression on her face what so ever like I don't really want to be here having a nap not bad
D. B.
Great place to go. Your usual Wetherspoons, but you know what you are getting and the staff were lovely
S.
Okay place, despite being a weatherspoon, has an OK selection of beers
G. C.
Great place to drink!
J. S.
Its a Whetherspoons therefore it's ok in my book. Nice decor, at table ordering via the app at great prices.
A. K.
Friendly staff, good beer and very quick food service. Only thing I'd love would of been a vegi roast dinner on the menu for Christmas.
J. W.
Very comfortable pub and good service family bar and separate bar to watch sports on Tv. Did not try food but looked good and very reasonable pricex
D. A.
Above average 'spoons. Attentive staff, food arrives quickly. Nice toilets, downstairs of course, as per usual.
j. n.
Pretty decent English breakfast
L. L.
uninteresting pub but... 1. It is massive, so wanna grab an after work drink and dont want to squeeze? you'll defo get a spot here. 2. Really wide selection on drinks.
K. W.
Good weatherspoons has lots of seating downstairs if you need a seat. Good pizzas.
C.
This place is huge with 2 levels + outdoor area.
Looks quite nice for a Wetherspoons too!
Staff are friendly and attentive 👍
M. D.
It's a fairly standard Wetherspoons pub. They could do with removing a couple tables as when it's busy there's literally not enough room to leave your table.
D. M.
A standard city wetherspoons. Bit pricy because it's central London. Mostly office people at lunch and early evening. Tourists the rest of the time. Decently kept beers and quick service for food.
P. G.
Quality Wetherspoon Pub serving what a Wetherspoon does best. reasonable prices for food and drink. In the centre of London Town.
C. F.
A typical Weatherspoons. Staff friendly and lunch food fast. Sadly not quality food or the cleanest of pubs.
M. C.
Nice place can be really busy at peak times. Bar staff could be quicker at serving, and serving in the order in which people arrive at the bar.
A. H.
Huge pub, always buzzing but always room, fast service, wide selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices
M. K.
The hospitality was excellent and service excellent 👍🤗
A. B.
Surprisingly large pub and not noisy so good for a conversation. Food and beer is good value.
R. S.
Good staff. Nice place. Gets chocca on a Friday after 6 as you'd expect. Typical spoons , good value food and booze.
C. S.
Good value for central London. Gets busy in the evenings but the downstairs area normally has some space.
K. S.
Great place to eat and drink! It was very warm and welcoming and overall atire of the place was like a good old spoons i go to in this part of london!
S. Y.
A spacey, nice pub. I like the pizza here :) but not good on cold weather, you can feel the breeze if you sit next to windows :D
C. P.
It's a weatherspoons people, but given that really nice and friendly staff. Very busy pub so lots of atmosphere
G. M.
Like most Wetherspoons it serves a purpose of being averagely priced in a good location. Be prepared to wait for a drink and stand during busy times.
A. B.
Great Pub the beers are spot on it has a nice atmosphere it also has a nice restaurant upstairs the bar staff are great especially Kate she was so polite and always serves with a smile i would recommend this Pub to everyone
M. E.
Interior isn't really the nicest but they have a small terrace which is nice in the summer. Food an drinks reasonably priced and good.
H. M.
Always love Wetherspoons &this one didn't dissapoint Reasonable prices &good atmosphere nice Pub .
A. F.
A typical Wetherspoons quite a lot of of ales to choose from including some, festive ales menu and similar to all the others Wetherspoons
A little light on the chips although all the chicken was cooked very well and all the other food that went past just looked ok
I like the way that the waiter was looking after elderly disabled couple behind us running around for the condiments etc that is very nice to see
B. A.
Well priced food. Self help coffee machine makes good coffee and you can help yourself to a free refill.
G. W.
Nice pub with good staff but the table next to me had a backpack stolen beneath their and my eyes. Be very careful with your belongings.
J. M. G.
Gteat service abd great value for money
C. D.
A nice oldie world feeling flows through this wetherapoons which, true to the brand, sells reasonably priced food and drink. Check out the daily specials for a decent and fairly priced meal.
R. Z.
Good pub, fairly priced for central London, good atmosphere and staff are friendly enough. Good place to bring family and children too.
J.
Sensible prices and good Greene King IPA. It's a Weatherspoon's so you get non-gourmet, but edible food and beer at good prices in an interesting building. A good example of a Weatherspoon's.
2. C. D.
Standard spoons pub. Lots of signs up warning that there is a high chance you bags or pockets will be picked . Lovely
A. D.
Great cheap pub..good food and they serve very quickly even busy ..has a downstairs bar as well
P. R.
Great ambiance service attentive which is great as experience of other weatherspoons past few times has been disappointing. This is my new favourite and would recommend
H. K.
This is one of my favourite spoons it has a friendly atmosphere and is in a nice location. The best part about this bar is the downstairs cellar bar which is really cool.
E. G.
Good service and lunch deals💥
Very spacious with interior design of old holborn pub
I Enjoy my visits each Time I go There 💫
J. J.
My local. Cheap beer and decent food. Interior feels a bit like a ferry but there's something comforting in that.
R. W.
Good for cyclists as you can see your bike from seats near the entrance, all the usual items are available at the bar
c.
Great prices of drinks a small outside seated area ( excellent for smokers) the food menu also looks like I hope I'm hungry the next time I visit ...
J. C.
Fantastic place to eat. Cheap, friendly, gluten free menu, low fat and vegetarians also catered for. Well worth a visit.
P. L.
As expected good value for money 🙂. Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Worth a visit. Thank you
M. T.
Very nice pub, nice real ales, clean toilets, usual Wetherspoons establishment, good food etc.
J. A.
Nice cozy pub, great atmosphere and has sports on TV too. Great for catching up with friends to watch the Rugby or Footie
J. S.
Good food and great beer with lots of table space for eating. Food very reasonably priced as usual for a JDW pub.
S. D.
The Penderel's Oak is a Wetherspoons pub, so if you're used to these pubs you know what you're getting: enough space to sit, cheap lagers and food, even though the quality of the latter can sometimes be not overwhelming. Located at around 5-8 mins walking from Holborn station I would suggest to try the Shakespear, closer to the same tube station and always a WS!
J. F.
Staff are polite, beer great. Only let down sold out of steak. But love this place and they serve Bud Light and on draught
D. B.
Its a wetherspoons. What you see is what you grt cheap beer and food, with table service via the app. Thisnplace is also huge upstairs and downstairs.
M. 5.
Huge pub which makes it a great place to meet large groups. Food is not bad and service varies but overall a nice place.
b. w.
I give it four from five as I find all wetherspoons are of a similar standard, good basic ,economic food ,relatively quiet atmosphere, well located etc.
But here ,as often is the case sadly ,uncaring or downright rude staff
Girl who served me handed over change without a "thank you " and seemed to be quite unhappy about being there.
P. S.
Good beer, good food, all very reasonably priced. Lively place on a Saturday night.
D. L.
Great wethers-good price, decent food and good atmosphere. Everything you expect from a wetherspoons
T. L.
Fine for quick cheap meal and pint. A bit crowded so we had to sit at uncomfortable table
