Reviews of Prince George
S. P.
We had a roast here last Sunday and it was great. They accommodated my request for a child’s portion as I wasn’t massively hungry which they don’t usually do. It was all great (i had the pork) although the beef was a bit tough on my friends plates. The veggies were great but the potatoes were a tiny bit hard. I think this is due to the set up for Covid (which felt very thorough) as it all came out rather fast we thought maybe they have it already under a heat lamp to ensure quick turnarounds for customers which we were fine with as it was all really yummy still. The gravy was a high point for me. Gravy can make or break a roast and theirs was really rich and lovely. The house wine was good and the staff provided a good service. It has a nice atmosphere with a lot of cute nooks and crannies with wild flowers on the tables. The toilets could do with a spruce up if I had to say anything. Good outside area too
K. V.
I had a lovely Sunday roast and Bloody Mary at The Prince George. Love the understated vibe and burning fires. Great friendly service too. Thoroughly recommend
T. G.
Best pub in the neighborhood, lovely staff, lovely interior, nice lil fireplace, good size garden w/ heaters, good crowd too more often than not.
L.
Cosy and lovely pub with great deco. The beer selection was second to none. I enjoyed the atmosphere while eating a Halloumi burger. It felt safe Covid-wise: not too crowded, table service, and friendly / attentive stuff. All in all, it floats my boat.
R. P.
Great pub with very friendly bar staff.. and decent beer selection plus FREE JUKEBOX
O. M.
The real Pub experience. Variety on beer selection, the mood in the place feels like an old traditional pub, it seems like the people there are going all the time since ages. 👍🏽
B.
Great Sunday roast with real rare roast beef and delicious veggies. There's a pretty laid back vibe overall, and this isn't the smartest pub in Hackney, but with outdoor seating and a truly local feel, you'll be pretty happy.
s.
Ya couldn’t bate it. V chill and mostly sound (some of the lads fuming behind the bar for some reason). I’d dock a half star because they’re putting Guinness in doinky glasses, but that’s cancelled out by having Orvals in the fridge.
M. C.
This is everything a London neighbourhood pub should be. Good beer, warm with quiet corners and loyal locals
R. E.
Beautiful pub on a beautiful street. Friendly and attentive staff, excellent range of beers, patio heaters and a big canopy in case of inclement weather. Perfect spot to enjoy a big roast on a Sunday.
A. H.
Good vibe, pretty crowded on a Saturday night
J. C.
Gorgeous Sunday Lunch, just what the doctor ordered.
B. C.
Decent choice of drinks at a decent price. Spacious, traditional and a pool table at the back which is a lovely addition. Great taxidermy and look out for the vintage jukebox and bust of Brunel; slightly chilly reception from bar staff but overall a very positive experience.
M. S.
Great traditional pub, not many left. Greet atmosphere great the staff are all very friendly and speedy, no ignorant slow hipsters scowling at you from the bar. Nice out door space out front. Set in a quiet side street amongst some lovely big terrace houses. Food is the only let down here Harry’s pub grub is small plates and burgers. Slap dash and poor ingredients. We have eaten twice, we won’t eat again. Sorry Harry not good. Great varied music selection from jazz to quality indie. Decent boozer 5 pints for booze ability 🍺🍺🍺🍺
T. F.
Great pub with a proper boozer atmosphere and good food
T. W.
Genuinely lovely, well mannered bar staff served us at the weekend, made the visit.
Nice pint of Hophead and a glass of Rioja - (didn't mind waiting for the corkscrew) enjoyed on the tables outside. A great local with a great friendly feel.
T. P.
The best pub in London, a beautiful old rustic public house cherished by its locals. In a quiet residential zone with a quaint front terrace, loads of different rooms with different ceiling heights, pool table (pre and hopefully post covid), capped off by wonderful, friendly, unbelievably tolerant staff serving some great beers. Still operating exclusive walk in service as a good pub should do, not succumbing to covid demands. A must visit.
C. L.
We were apprehensive about booking to watch the euros here as it wasn’t a huge pub, but James was really great today and had everyone served quickly especially in the rush before the match. Wonderful weather hoping to watch the next game here.
J. P.
Roast absolutely SLAPPED!!!
Get yourself down there for a Sunday Roast, you will not be disappointed
R. H.
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. The chips were over cooked unfortunately. Otherwise, a brilliant pub.
J. L.
Great atmosphere and attentive service. A friend celebrated his birthday here and booked a room. The arrangement was perfect with speakers for music and pretty fairly lights. The food was really good too.
T. W.
Lovely boozer, nice outdoors area out front. Great choice of ales and craft beers. Great staff.
T. M.
The pub has changed hands recently and, since it is pretty much my local, I am happy to report that it has changed into a set of very capable hands! We had a party for around 30 folks and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Wide variety of beers, good food, & friendly staff. Tip of the hat to the new manager Joe - keep it up!
A. C.
Great local pub. Not quite as hipster as some of the other places around, with a friendly, more mixed crowd.
Good beers and a jukebox.
Menu has changed and they mainly do pies now, but they’re excellent. Go for the smoked haddock one.
A.
Well, about four years ago I met a very nice man here, and about a year and a half ago I married him, so if you’re looking for love, this place might be a good place to start. It’s cool without being too try-hard, cosy and nice staff. Great for a first date. :-)
L. R.
Nice pub, decent food, decent pricing, super friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
M. S.
We hired the function room on the first floor for our daughter's 4th birthday party and everyone had a great time! The food was yummy and the room is beautifully decorated. The staff were very welcoming and professional. Would highly recommend it!
L. J.
Just ate an EXCEPTIONAL bean burger here and I’ve eaten a lot of them in my time. Perfect vibe and suntrap out front.
A. J.
The George is such an amazing pub! Fantastic for accommodating groups with delicious food platter options and fast and friendly service. Great winter pub with lots of cute warm areas and awesome for the summer too with a killer front garden
K. B.
Much loved as my local pub, now not local had an informal wedding reception last week. Fit the bill with unflappable staff [thanks Joe and team] and a boisterous yet not out of control Friday night vibe. Table reservations and fizz on ice arranged [easily] beforehand were nice touches. I still think the George excels at the no fuss pint with friends but glad it could do double duty easily for this reception.
N. H.
Came here for a birthday drinks. The staff were really accomodating when letting us book a large table for our party. The ambiance is so cosy and the drinks selection is great. Food is decent. We went for the bar snacks which were really tasty
D. P.
The best pub in Hackney, possibly even London! We loved it here, great service, good prices, nice spot. Tom the bartender made some great local beer recommendations and mixed up some interesting non alchoholics for my wife as well!
F. L.
Busy nice pub, good beers, efficient service and very friendly environment.
Staff is nice and the place is warm and cosy!
Went there for the first time as a big group and didn’t have much luck with the seats but the second time were four of us on a Saturday evening and it wasn’t that hard to find some stools by the bar.
J. G.
Good pub with decent prices, relaxing/chilled interior and lovely front terrace! Stumbled upon it while getting lost after a day spent in London Fields. It was during the heat wave and their beer saved me from heat exhaustion!! Quiet location on a residential street but surprisingly busy. Recommend!
D. D.
Great pub, great food, great crowd. Billiard table is a bit small, but they make up for it with lots of heart. Interesting assortment of drinks possibilities, from proper cask ales to unusual tins. One of my favourites.
S. H.
We popped along to the Prince George for a Sunday Roast and it was EPIC. Nothing was too much trouble and with 6 adults, 3 toddlers and 2 babies a lot could go wrong. At one point the manager even went up to his own flat to get bread as our baby is allergic to egg and peanuts. It’s a well run ship, Joe. Well done!
R. T.
Great locals pub. Relaxed, friendly and well loved by the community. Outside seating to the front in a paved area. Food is popular with a changing menu reflective of the season
R. C.
Everything at Prince George surpassed expectations. We enjoyed a party here in the beautiful and bright function room. The staff went well out their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was gorgeous, looked amazing, tasted better. Would highly recommend this place for any events.
C. S.
Absolutely great time. Great set up for the euros and had a great afternoon! We will be back soon for sure
S. N.
Front garden is great and catches the sun perfectly in the summer. Food is brilliant and loads on offer (recommend the kedgeree scotch egg), the selection of beer is good (cider is great when it's on). Juke box is free. Pool table is charmingly squashed into a back room. There's a big map on the wall. All good.
C. C.
A lovely local and not just hip! Good selection of beer that's well kept, a decent menu, several different rooms to hide in, dog friendly, nice helpful staff - oh and the jukebox is excellent :)
m.
Great place, covid managing was brilliant. The best fish and chips I've ever had.. definitely will visit again when we visit london.
J. S.
Decent pub, good prices, could do more on the covid regulations
N. T.
Nice local pub mixed with a pretty trendy crowd. Nothing fancy but sometimes that exactly what you need.
Lots of picnic tables outside mean you can usually squeeze on and catch some sunshine!
M. G.
Great local with pool table and good kitchen. Love it!
F. S.
Amazing vibe, great beers and food is even better! Fell in love with this place
K. L.
A lovely pub with fantastic food. We tried lots of things from the menu and it was all delicious. Really great staff too.
J. P. M.
The Prince George is the ultimate Southern Hackney pub. Long before the Ginger Line opened up this part of Hackney it was the pub to go to for late night lockins. It bloomed with John & Joe in occupation and still keeps the faith to this day. Really glad the people attracted to the area by its ambience but then turned on it as they slipped into their dottage and as their house prices headed skyward, didn't get their way to squeeze it out of existence. I still love you Prince George, keep up the brilliant work🤜🤛
P. A. T.
Great pub, lovely staff, little spenny.
J.
Still a few real people in this Hackney pub. Lovely staff; fair selection of beers and wine; food is yummy. Baked vanilla cheesecake with peaches : thanks Troy!
P.
Nice place with good roasts and beers
K. G.
lovely staff, lovely vibes, lovely roasts, just lovely stuff all around. long live the george
T. F.
Outstanding pub. Immense pies, good selection of beer, lovely staff and owner, and great mix of local folk - a rarity in these parts!
J. B.
I totally love this pub. And now it's got new management and the food is incredible. It was always a lovely pub, but if it continues like it will soon get very very popular.
J. F.
Came here for a couple of drinks at lunchtime on a Saturday. It was great. Good selection of beers and friendly staff. The bar snacks were very tasty too!
K.
Banging roast and excellent bloody Mary.
D. S.
The most expensive burger in London. It has the size of a niple and tastes like a niple. It's a very sad burger for the price. But the beers are ok. Nice pub overall.
D. S.
Top notch food from Troy and co with ales to suit all tastes in a bright airy boozer. Hendrix on the juke box and the friendliest bar lady in Hackney. Amazing function room upstairs too....this is a hidden gem.
R. K.
Proper East London community pub, been here donkey's years - Old photo's on the walls to prove it! Great sun trap outside, roast dinners served, good ales, good times
S. B.
Well organised in terms of Covid-19. Helpful and friendly staff, good beer, and more than acceptable grub.
A. A.
Delightful old pub. Lovely staff, particularly when they're suffering these ridiculous Covid19 restrictions. Will definitely go again
J. B.
Excellent Sunday Lunch!
N. C.
Cool pub. Quiet neighborhood. Decent selection of beers. Fun staff.
C. D.
Being going their for the best part of 35 plus years it's a great locals pub but there some snobs trying to blend in which is a shame really they are not needed.
t. k.
Great little local pub with charming interior and relaxed vibes. Good drinks selection and nice staff.
L. D.
Cool bar. Very friendly staff. Haven’t tried the food yet so will be back for a roast.
m. B.
Decent beer on tap. Great chicken pie! But slow service & food took ages!
C. N.
This establishment was ok....food portion side was ok and it could have been hotter (temperature wise).
Staff were pleasant and helpful - would certainly come back when in town.
N. J.
Great pub, decent beer and food. Baby friendly (high chairs etc) but lacks a changing table.
A. H.
Great London pub but food was very slow (don't think it is always like that) but we were give free drinks to compensate... what's not to like!!
B. B.
Awesome little backstreet pub. Good beer selection and an amazing selection of pies. I had pork belly should of gone for the steak!
P. P.

M. C.
A great real pub with decent ales, a pleasant atmosphere, and very good food especially the steak!
A. C.
Traditional boozer but with a great mixed crowd of older locals and younger, arty types. Excellent beer selection too
H. P.
Great roast. Only place, maybe in the world, to give you enough gravy. Also you can add even more if needed.
M. V.
Nice and friendly local but the music volume and therefore chatter noise levels, unnecessarily too loud. To the point it was uncomfortable.
K. L.
Lovely little pub with a friendly atmosphere and decently priced drinks.
T. n.
Was a nice pub, plenty of beers, not to busy, bigger inside than it looks from the outside.
A. D.
One of the best pubs around Dalston with very good gastro food
