Reviews of Red Lion

Lovely pub in the heart of London.
My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful meal; my vegan burger was beyond expectations and the rosemary fries tasted like a piece of Heaven.
Our bar tender Jose speaks Spanish, what made it much easier, as my friend doesn't speak English fluently.
We enjoyed 2 pints of the house IPA, as he suggested, which we found very refreshing and went well with our meals.
We will come back for sure. Highly recommended!

I booked a table at the Red Lion on a Friday at 6pm to go with a few colleagues and given this pub is always so busy after work, I must admit I didn’t have high expectations that they would provide us attentive customer service. However, I was so impressed with Tom’s service throughout the whole evening. He made sure our table remained clean and once a table cleared downstairs, he moved us there. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thanks Tom!

Popped in for a quick drink at this lovely Victorian pub. Staff were very friendly, and prices very reasonable for City of London. Shame it only opens until 8pm on a Saturday evening.

As crowded and loud as it gets. Ordered several drinks which were heavily diluted to the point where I was suspicious there was no alcohol in them whatsoever. However, service was quick and bar staff managed the crowd well. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Upstairs was a lot quieter than on the ground floor.

Proper boozer in the heart of the City is a rare thing these days, and the Red Lion is that. A perfect place for a pint. If you want an experience of a traditional English Pub, visit the Red Lion, you won't be disappointed.
A. K.
My favorite pub in the city , lovely atmosphere, super friendly and very well trained staff, food and drinks are top quality. 10 out of 10

Nice upstairs dining with a few windows for ventilation. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food lovely

Lovely quaint, authentic and typical English pub. Draught beer was nice and the sharing platter delicious. We sat upstairs and had the place to ourselves to begin with. We were regularly checked on, in case we needed anything, which was lovely. They could have easily forgotten about us, after all we had paid for our food and drink at the point of ordering. Very impressed and would definitely recommend a visit here.

Best pub ever! Loveliest of staff, with some wonderful British wit and an iconic Spanish twist! You’ll find nothing like it! So many ‘Red Lions’ in the UK but, this one is truly the best! Would give infinite stars if I could. Big up Esteph and the floor team! Lots of love to the guy upstairs himself Jose!! Besos! Cheers!

Great place. Lots of different beers to choose from and fresh quality food. Lovely staff as well.

I arrived to this establishment and was immediately greeted with smiles and was given so many choices for lager I had to ask the staff for recommendations.
The staff were extremely friendly, the food was also just as complimentary and I will definitely be going back!
If you enjoy a nice chilled environment with friendly customers and a beautiful interior design then this is your place.
Thank you Red Lion team for a great experience!

Classic Victorian corner pub - lots of big windows, gilt and dark wood.
Wide bar across the back of the single-room downstairs Bar. Also an upstairs Dining Room.
Traditional pub grub. Greene King branded but decent selection of ales and craft beers. Friendly and efficient staff.
PS. Name now changed to ‘Red Lioness’, in support of womens’ football!
D. G.
Great pub near Liverpool St. Fantastic team, beautiful G&T's. Sometimes a bit too busy but always lovely.

What a lovely little pub in the heart of Moorgate. The team is super friendly and the Gin and Tonic is fantastic. Would defo go back when in the area. :)
J. M.
Had the Mac and cheese. Daniella was a delight serving us. Toilets were clean. Can't fault it. Eat upstairs, it was nice and quiet.

Notwithstanding the fact that this pub managed to snuggle itself nicely into the standard dual tropes of British pubs who serve too loud music and insipid ales, along with a bar staff who were joyfully celebrating National Sullen Week when I visited, this was actually a lovely looking, relatively quiet traditional English pub, nicely off the beaten track, and a grand spot for a natter in pleasant surroundings.
M. P.
Nice beers, quick service and some great people watching opportunities on a sunny evening in the big smoke.
a. p.
A great place where you can sit well, relax and get away from all problems.
S. W.
Nice small pub with a good selection of drinks and nice traditional decor inside.
T. D.
An excellent pub for a beer on the way to Liverpool St stn, does food as well
A. P.
Lively, bubbly and well organised pub in the city
L. M.
Great for after-work drinks. Crowded and noisy, so for business chats better some place more relaxed.
J. K.
Nice friendly and small pub
m. p.
It's okay, a bit annoying that they pretty rudely shoved everyone out at 8pm when the closing time according to the website is 11pm..
R. E.
Good spot for a swift pint or two and to watch the city crowds pass by as folks make their way to and from Liverpool Street Station. No dress code or pretences which isn't exactly usual in the the immediate area. Decent beers, not cheap (but here what is..?). The pub can be busy but a bit of a bustle suits the place well.
A. C.
Small pub which can get very busy. Good deals for dining upstairs but the food is fairly average. I suppose fair for what your paying but could do with a bit more flavour
C. P.
The best pub for miles
R. W.
Nice atmosphere and a nice place. Plus there's a good selection of beers including the ever great Green King IPA which isnt polluted by the too citrusy American hops. Love it :-)
R. E.
Nice spot for a few pints. Allows for tabs which is good when your in a group
C. D.
By far one of the best pubs in London. No frills, just your perfect simple pub in the City. Good selection of drinks, there's something for everyone. It's the staff that makes this place a success, always smiling, great vibe.
T. L.
Ok at quieter times. Until the offices kick out, then it becomes a screeching haven for Banshees of all ages.
S. P.
One of the best pubs in the city. They have such a good choice of beers and ales at a reasonable price. It’s no wonder this place is pretty heaving most nights.
C. G.
Good Sunday roast, nice traditional ambient, very kind staff. We found it by chance so we had no booked but there was no problem, yet the place was quite popular. There's also a large room also upstairs. I recommend it.
N. D.

(Translated) This pub is great, the bill is a bit expensive but for chic in the middle class, your not better, the dishes are beautiful and very good. The reception is perfect, I highly recommend for a restoration that turns to 70 pounds!
