Great location for my birthday celebrations. The staff were fab - friendly and extremely attentive with the food orders, despite there being 15+ of us. Food was pretty good for pub grub.

We were recommended to visit and try their roast Sunday dinners. We were not disappointed. They have one veggie option. My missus was impressed with the gravy which was tasty and non glutenous like you often get in establishments who have to cook food quickly. Service was quick and friendly. One draft ale available but a greater selection of local of craft ales. Desserts looked good. Had a great afternoon there. Thanks

This pub is a mixed bag of pros and cons. Pros: - reasonable draft selection including a rare gluten free one - friendly, almost intimate atmosphere - warm Cons: - a lot of uncomfortable chairs / stools - open kitchen causes smells to fill half the pub. Needs better extraction - back rooms are gloomy

My children can be fussy eaters, they had the kids roast - and 'loved it' (Even the cucumber water!) The Spinach & Butternut - my missus had and enjoyed the ensemble of Yorkshire; roast potatoes, leeks, glazed carrots & parsnips, finished with shredded green cabbage. Great. I had the pork, which was a lovely portion. (..what an essay - bur they deserve it!)

Great ale selection, and a good choice of beers. Get down for their Sunday roast, it tastes so good, I was stuffed! Try the fried plantains. Very friendly and helpful staff. And expect a fast turnover from order to plate. A really good feed, I recommend!

A little bit dark and shabby inside, staff were a bit dorky and forgot my pint - but he looked like a confused Goldsmiths student which is part of the area's charm. Food was tasty, a little pricey - three hot snacks for £15 didn't particularly strike me as a deal but maybe they're chasing student loans. Some posters for fun looking event would defs return.

A great pub with a lived in feeling. Great selection of beers and other drinky things to try! Lovely staff, chillaxed music, all round a good bit of fun. Food menu looks interesting and varied, good for both the vegetarian and the carnivore among us. A most pleasant visit, come along and enjoy.

A brilliant Sunday visit to this lovely Pub. Was really well looked after by Seb and his team. Very friendly, delicious food and a great atmosphere.

Nice chilled place, great decor with lots of original pub fittings mixed with vintage comfy chairs and sofas. Great selection of beers & sprits. Really good menu catering for all dietary requirements. Large outdoor eating/drinking area. They have some small tv’s and showed the tennis when we were in, not sure if they offer other sports??

A really solid pub with a great range of beers. Decor is really nice, quite kitsch. They also have a very good live jazz night once a week on sundays, plus a pub quiz on Mondays. They also show the football on one tv in the main area.

Nice cozy place with a good vibe. We haven't tried the food but we did try the freshly made sausage rolls and they were fantastic with the beer. The worst is that the rolls are gone in no time :)

First visit inside since Portabello Brewery took over. Not much has changed, and the same eclectic mix of customers were there to create the unique atmosphere at this pub. The beer and cider choice was wide and some great choices by the manager/brewery. Shame not to see Five Points XPA on the tap, hope it returns. Music volume was too loud for the pub, it use to be good tunes in the background, but it was good tunes too loud to hear ourselves speak and for this already very social pub. That is an easy fix to get the 5th star in this rating. Food standard was good, and so overall very good Portabello. Ps I hear the pizza restaurant next door is merging in later, that sounds a good plan.

This pub has always been a firm favourite. Back in the day in a previous incarnation but was an amazing music venue. Nowadays it's a great local boozer. Perfect for a cracking pint and the atmosphere of the busy area of new cross and deptford

Some of the staff was a bit unwelcoming. Not sure why.. however the rest was brilliant and accommodating. You either get table service or order via the app. Prices of drinks was ok. Would recommend and would go back.

Great pub. Interesting interior, good selection of drinks (of all varieties) and an open kitchen which I like. Staff were the best I have seen lately; enigmatic Charley; Amy and Charlotte who dress so uniquely, Sasha who is so polite and helpful and 4/5 more whose names I didn't get. All completely professional, helpful and polite. I'll be back.

Where New Cross becomes Deptford. A fab little pub with lots of character, great beer and ale selection, food is top quality. Super dog friendly and (was) a great spot for live music on a Sunday Night.

Just returned from the Albert and had to voice my praise for a really good meal. Had the Welsh Black Char-grilled Bavette steak which was cooked (and rested) perfectly. Nice to see some hand cut and odd shaped chips as opposed to the regimented symmetrically shaped or instant freezer variety. Service from the staff was spot on - honest, upfront, unfussy and unhurried - just how I would expect to be treated, thank you to both chefs and Charlie. Enjoyed an ice cream dessert which included the Black Coconut flavour... something I had never had before. Delicious. Overall meal was tasty, well cooked and very good value for money. Will be back (as working in the area) next week. Many thanks, Terry.

Great pub. Lovely atmos. Top beers that change each week. Helpful and happy to be there staff. Nice mix of locals, students and passers by. Sundays is ideal if you like a bit of live music. You'll never be disappointed when you visit the Albert.

Great neighborhood pub that's simply nice to be in. The back room with the huge skylight is a major plus, and although we didn't have food, what the other customers around us were having looked good. There's live music certain evenings and a good selection of drinks for it all.

If only I could be left to enjoy all my Sunday nights here. All of them. Live music every Sunday, ecclectic mix of artists. We havent tried the food here but its always busy each time we are here. Advice: arrive well before the set and grab a seat because it gets really jammed. A range of drinks available too, and as a stout drinker Im glad to have more than just Guiness as an option. This is my go-to live music place.

Heard a lot of things about this pub So we paid it a visit on Sunday. First impressions were good, staff were friendly and the pub has a nice laid back atmosphere. It was busy as well which is always a good sign, especially on a cold January day. Will defently be back.

A great local pub with fantastic food too. Often visit for a quick and reasonably-priced mid-week meal and the Sunday roasts are great as well, even for a non-roast fan such as myself. Cool surroundings, always really good music and a great selection of ales on at all times.

Only been here for Sunday roast but that's why we came back. Good portions, nice Yorkshire puddings and vegetables a little crunchy how I like them rather than over done. Meat is lovely and extra gravy if you ask. Will definitely be back again.

Currently in the process of moving flat, this is my local and I really don't want to move too far away from it as I need to be able to stumble home on a Friday night. It's not too cold in there, put some clothes on Biff. Their food is Amazing, and their burger is better than the Jamie Oliver's down the road in Greenwich. Good selection of beers and cider which they mix up regularly to keep us on our toes. Some of the beers are pricey but it is London, everywhere is pricey. Also I always enjoy a drunken bop between the hours of 10pm - 1am on a Friday and Saturday night. The music is always different but usually they insert something in there for everyone to get off the sofa and have a dance around the living room style pub.

generally i really like it, even though some of the beer is mad expensive - £5 dead for this dark ipa they had. i had to have three to calm my nerves. food's decent, especially the roasts if you're in there early. the big problem, and this is my experience of a few antic and former antic pubs, is that it's cold in there. especially in the restaurant bit.

Went on a fairly busy Friday night. Friendly staff, DJ had the music to an ambient level, and a good selection. The real stand-out, as with Antic pubs was the food. A tad pricey, given the location, but tasted sublime.

The great old pub in Deptford is really cool. It has brilliant djs on Fridays and Saturdays providing great 80's music and a lot more besides. The food is excellent and bar staff friendly and funky. It has beer garden out the front.

New cross is getting better with choice of pubs now. But Royal Albert still remains supreme. Great choice of beers and one of the tastiest Sunday Roast in South East London. And they have the footy too.

An excellent, bustling archaic pub serving divine food and a wide range of fine wines and other equally delectable beverages. One would thoroughly recommend the ravishing sticky toffee experience, there is not one like said sticky toffee pudding in all of the borough of Lewisham. One would advise visiting on a fine Monday's eve to challenge the locals to a pub quiz.Snappy service, Sophisticated setting, and overall a super soir!

Food was not particularly good value, vegan burger without bun - tasty with cheap frozen chips, but no salad, slaw or other trimmings. Drink was ok.

Popular with locals and students, this pub has great food and a Sunday jazz night. The outdoor seating in the summer is not to be missed.

Cool old school pub, dark and classic interior. Can get incredibly busy which i personally find a little annoying. Outside area out the front to smoke/drink with benches. Definitely worth checking out if in the area.

The Royal Albert is a beautiful pub in between New Cross and Deptford. Down the back they have an open kitchen where you can watch the chef cook up a storm. Up the front you will find some quiet corners where you can sit and play a board games or (occasionally) listen to a live jazz session whilst sipping your artisan beer of choice. Veggies beware the food is not particularly designed for you but meat eaters will love the gastropub menu available. #DavidBowieIs

Now the food is just average taste. It was the best ever when I first went here three years ago. Sorry for this one thing.
