Went there for a friend's birthday, Security guy Carl was friendly and greeted us at the door. Food was nice and waiters were attentive, happy hour cocktails 5-8pm. Would definitely recommend, not just the food but the vibes alone from the security guard would make me come back and tell my friends.

Been a while since I went to Satay Bar and they honestly never fail. I had the Duck and Rice, absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection and so flavoursome too. It was contactless ordering but the staff were still lovely and ensured to let us know they were there if we needed them for anything. Will definitely be back again to try some more of the menu!

This is my second visit and I really enjoyed it again! The popcorn chicken was delicious and is now my fav ! The portico size is generous! Wasn’t a big fan of the satay chicken 🥴

I've always enjoyed the food at the Satay Bar. Due to the panoramic, our large dinner party could only book tables for a maximum of six. The staff really made an effort to seat all ten of us as close as possible. This was very kind of them. The table service was good, there is some room for improvement though. As a mature man I didn't like having to be searched by security when entering. But I suppose that's the world we live in, unfortunately. Considering it was a Friday night close to Christmas I was surprised how quite the bar area was, usually you have to queue to get a drink. If felt like a shift from a lively bar to just a restaurant. Which was fine for us as we had reserved a table. I would always recommend food at the Satay Bar, but I would not recommend it for a good place to grab a drink. There are to many other places with better atmospheres and music within walking distance.

This has been a good to since the 90s but since needing a wheelchair Satay Bar has become my favourite local haunt. The food is excellent at all times and service is swift. It is a bit different to get through by phone but this is expected when such a busy bar. They are also great at hiding cakes in the kitchen to be brought out with singing if you are celebrating a birthday

Came here for a small birthday celebration. It was my 2nd time being at Satay. They do 2 for 1 cocktails till 8pm so get there on time!!! Food presentation is nice, the music is a vibeeee. The cocktails have far too much ice so it weakens the drink and you don't get enough fluid from them. The staff and so lovely. We were given a round of tequila on the house. Reasonably priced. The bathroom was not in the best state on my visit. If you know Brixton then you know the difficulty to get parking, so plan ahead.

I went to satay bar a couple of days ago and was helped by a lovely waitress whose name I remember being Raven she has the most kind hearted, clean, spirited soul and she was always smiling she made my experience there 5 out of 5 I will be definitely coming back because of her! Thank you! If she goes I definitely won’t be coming back the rest of the staff are very rude especially that manager…

My first visit to Satay bar since the ease of lockdown restrictions. I booked a table for two for a Saturday night for me and my mum. We started with a Strawberry mojito to wet our appetite. Satay Bar certainly don't skimp on the alcohol with their cocktails and if you're a light weight like me expect to be tipsy after half a glass. They have done away with table menus, and instead you have to order online by first scanning a QR code to access the menu. The staff were helpful in advising about this. Miscommunication occurred as I had asked the waitress to bring the starters and mains separately, but this did not happen and instead (a different) waiter brought the food out and cited he wasn't aware of this request. Nevertheless, we got stuck in and the food was plentiful and I particularly enjoyed all my dishes, particularly my main of lamb cutlets and egg fried rice. Unfortunately for my mum she had eaten a few chillies with her lamb starter and she expressed 'it nearly blew my head off' The atmospheric vibrancy of Satay Bar still remains! .

The Satay Bar is a nice venue and I was very impressed with individual ordering system on your phone ordering of food and the food was tasty.At the end of the meal I expected 3 individual bills that we would pay but NO...it was one bill and we together with one of the waitresses and the the manager sorted out the single bill this was a real pain at the end of the meal.PLEASE EXPLAIN TO MY WHY I COULDN'T PAY FOR MY MEAL ON MY PHONE AS I ORDER?THIS WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE AND STOP PEOPLE LEAVING WITHOUT PAYING WHICH I UNDERSTAND HAS HAPPENED.... PLEASE CHANGE THE SYSTEM!!!! It will make it a lot easier for your staff too!

Havent been since 2019 as a result of the pandemic and was so excited to be reunited with one of my favourite eating places... The staff were friendly as I remembered so very welcoming however I was extremely disappointed with the menu as changed significantly. Much less variety no more calamari and other specialities. I am unclear as to the reasons for this but variation is definitely needed!

Staff were nice, 2 for £10 for cocktails until 8pm are such a good deal - which I loved. I've been here a few times now but I did find the food not as nice as I've had it before. I had lamb skewers (first time I'd ordered that from Satay Bar) and that tasted chewy/tough and looked over cooked. Like it had been sat there for awhile and then reheated. So I asked for it to be replaced and was given a prawn bao bun instead. Which I really liked. I then ordered the duck which I've had many times and is my favourite but that also tasted over cooked and chewy/dry. Not sure why it was like that... I would go again but if the food is subpar I will keep returning the food as many times as needed.

First time eating in Satay Bar and Restaurant and the food was pretty decent. I had the Black Peppered Prawns which is under the Specials menu with Coconut Rice. The Prawns were lovely but the Coconut Rice could have had a stronger Coconut flavour. I also noticed the venue was on the cold side.

I have been going to Satay for years (15). All I can say is the food isn't as good but the service has maintained. You can see from my photos the Calamari looked like it was from Iceland 😣😭. The waitress Maria was very pleasant.

Decent place due to the drinks. We ordered a variety of prawn dishes but they tasted frozen and arrive hard as bullets but we're replaced with no problems. The best dish was the roti. If you want starters and mains separately order them separately or everything comes out at once. I'd go back but probably have a tofu dish.

The best restaurant in Brixton. The food is amazing though queues can be long especially in the evening on weekends. The service isn’t that great either in the evenings. We waited 30 minutes before we were seated. Our food didn’t come until 45 minutes later from ordering. We had to call the waiter on 5 separate occasions to times to bring us the bill. He kept forgetting. I think they were too busy and they get overwhelmed. They should hire more staff to love such issues. Still my favourite restaurant in Brixton regardless.

Staff were very cheerful and kind. Even security guard was lovely when I visited! Satay bar has always been a great spot. I had tempura chicken and it was amazing! Wish I got a photo of it! Cocktails are always a hit, happy hour is great value for money and at a good time that’s appropriate to be drinking. Ordering was done online via scanning QR code which a lot of places are doing to minimise contact, which I appreciate. Shall visit again.

Got here for 18.45 bought my favourite cocktail Zombie killer (best cocktail ever if you like rum based drinks) which was two 4 £10.00 Food was ok, had Prawn pad thai I've had better. What let it down for me was the service which was slow, the waiters seemed more interested talking amongst themselves than serving. I know it can get busy and I've learnt to be patient but I'm still waiting for the coke I ordered. They were six of us at the table, it would have been nice to have a waiter/waitress come over and ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. its little things like that, that makes me want to go back again.

Went on a Friday night and was so crowded with people standing everywhere so we thought there was no table and we stood for some minutes before realising there was no queue and we were told by the person at the bar serving drinks to speak to a waiter to get a table. The waiter we found directed us to speak to someone else. We eventually got a table and everything went alright from there. Food was great in terms of taste and quantity. However, it was quite hard to get a waiter's attention. And it was hard to have a conversation in there as music was super loud and people were loud too. Waiters looked like they enjoy their job though. I would go back another time for lunch instead.

The curry was extremely sweet. Everything appeared clean. A lemonade that tasted like chlorine was offered to me. All orders and bookings are conducted online. The table was dimly lit but later into the evening the restaurant became brighter and pleasant to look at. The staff were all polite. The incorrect website for booking through Open Table was provided to us (.com instead of .co.uk).

This place is more a 3 & 3/4 kind of place. The food isn't bad but its not mind blowing either. Im partial to the fiery lamb sticks and the beef rib. A solid portion of red meat that hit the spot. Also i never leave with out having at least 2 mai thia's, best place to get a mai thai as far as im concerned. Be warned the cocktails can be on the strong side. Decent crowd and i appreciate that they play a lot of hip hop, loud enough to sing along to but not intrusive.

A long awaited visit back to what used to be a popular choice. Dining experience was massively let down by service. Despite having to order via the QR code the customer service was still noticeably poor. Meal was interrupted by overzealous staff wanting to clear our table. Then when there was a problem with the order, staff delayed in addressing the issue. The restaurant was not busy but service felt more akin to being at a takeaway venue. To top it off items that we didn't order were added to our bill. Disappointing!!

The place was good, nice vibe around, very comfy and sociable place. Cocktails prices are good, drinks portions are fabulous. The reason why i give it 3 stars is because i went there last night and arrived at the place 5 to 8. Got my cocktails, around 9:30 im thinking of ordering more cocktails, but im not sure at what time it closes because the bill was brought to us without asking for it, so i checked online and it said it close at 11pm. Since it was an hour and a 15 mins away from the time i was ordering I thought i was going to have enough time for my drink. 10 mins after my drinks arrived, a waiter come to my table and said they were closing soon, confused i said okay. 3 mins after the same waiter comes and said that they were closing and we needed to go, by that time it was 22:18pm. I asked why? He said to me that they were closing because they were not enough customers. They were 5 tables full of people and they made us leave, already had the chairs up and everything. I felt very annoyed that we were not considered “customers”.

Great happy hour, two for 10 of the same cocktail! Ordered a mojito and the mint was really wilted but as I was there realized the frozen drinks and jungle juice were probably better options. No food included in the deal but food prices are pretty good, ordered the drunken noodles and extra 50p for chilli oil which I wasnt told but it was on the menu after checking. The atmosphere is lively and diverse, rap music playing mostly. Toilets were small and the outdoor patio is great for warm days. Would go back if in Brixton as it's close to the station.

Came here for the first time after a recommendation. The food was decent. However, I've never waited so long for the food to arrive! We had to keep asking if it was coming. Then we had the same problem with the desert, we waited about 40 mins after our main for desert to come and when we told the waitress, she said oh well you are meant to ask me when you want dessert. That's not the response you give a customer and why should a customer have to ask for their dessert when it's been ordered. So overall, food was good but customer service was poor! Other customers were complaining as well about the service

I've been to satay bar several times and had a good experience, however I gave 3 stars only as I didn't enjoy my experience this time round. We arrived slightly late for our booking due to traffic. We were served very quickly and the food arrived quickly. But the whole experience felt very rushed. Wait staff were trying to clear the table while we were still eating! I understand we had a set time (1.5 hours) but it was quite rude the way we were handled. We hadn't even finished our drinks when the bill arrived (we didn't ask for the bill) so we had to down our drinks which meant we didn't enjoy our drinks. Quite a disappointing night.

Pleasant experience, been going for years and does not disappoint. Has an item bought to the table not to my liking had replaced free of charge. Manager and waiting staff have great customer service. Food takes a while to arrive but worth the wait, also assuming it's freshly prepared!

On Saturday 29th May 2021 me and my friends went to Satay bar for lunch. I'm just going to start with that the food was decent, tasty and good size portions. However! The table service and customer service is pretty poor. When we first arrived, our booked table had an issue and we had to wait. Then the table was not cleaned properly. When our food arrived , no cutlery and napkins were given, no one asked if everything was ok. We were also told to hurry and go as the next customers have arrived. No customer value or appreciation which is a shame. They clearly need a woman's touch. No female staff that day

Great food, friendly staff and highly recommend the virgin cocktails if your not having alcohol. First time using a scan the bar code at the table place your order on phone and it magically appears Just one hiccup ther was no cutlery on the table but under the current circumstances understand.

After reading reviews online I was pretty skeptical. However, I was greeted on arrival by a pleasant manager. He noticed I was a bit cold so he changed my booth. Food & drinks came quicker than expected. Food was delicious. Manager was very attentive! Definitely will be returning.

On entry they do not have hand sanitiser for customers - I had to ask for it We were seated on a table that was in the pathway of everyone so I did not feel this was shielded enough for me - people constantly going past us all the time whilst we were eating. Its a shame really as its not the same as before COVID and its under new management - staff looked stressed and overworked and don't appear to want to try to please customers. They took advantage of the Government Scheme logo Eat Out to help Out August so this was good. I have always loved this restaurant for many years - unfortunately I will not be going back again as I was a little disappointed

Very good food and drink as always.... Went for lunch arrived at around 2pm and it wasnt that busy. Nice atmosphere and our food arrived quickly and beautifully presented. Waitress came over to check on us. Friendly not intrusive. Why not 5 stars? Bar staff could have had a smile on, would have made a difference. Sliding door to the smoking area is hard to close, had to keep getting up to help others close it so we werent cold. Toilets... Female toilets appeared clean and tidy but my god did they smell. Off putting.

I liked it but not as much as before. I usually like this place because of the food the atmosphere but it seem to be off. So my friend and I was waiting for a waiter to ask us for our order and it took 20mins until eventually had to go to the bar and ask if some one can come to our table to take our order. So we had ordered both drinks and food at one go. The waiter took our order and forgot certain items, thankfully we were not charged for the missing food. The food seem to be lacking in it's kick and taste and including the drinks, they seem to be flat. Over all it was alright but it needs improvement with staff.

I would have given it 4/5 stars, however I do understand that it can get very busy on a Friday/Saturday night, but that doesn't excuse management (she came across as one - Shakira was her name if I recall) to have a bit of an attitude not just towards staff but to customers as well. Again, I get that Friday evenings can get busy and some customers can get quite demanding, but I can assure you we were one of the few customers (myself and thre others) who understood that. However, it doesn't excuse poor customer service because of how busy it is. I also had to wait 45 minutes for my drinks within happy hour & had to ask 2 waiters a total of 5 times before I recieved my drink. Both waiters however were very apologetic on the waiting time. Food was ok and glad that came out on time. With that being said, I'd still go on another day to see what it's like when it's quieter, I'm sure it's a whole different kind of atmosphere. The place itself is small, and on the weekend you'd have a long wait if you don't book a table beforehand.

The last time i went to satay bar they had these amazing chicken wings, my days!! I also had the chicken satay and lamb skewers which were lovely too. The vibe in there is nice, only thing is that they aren't the largest establishment so expect to wait on a Friday or Saturday night (down side!). That being said, it's worth the wait.

Had a really nice lunch on my break, I was seated immediately food came quickly and the drinks were great I had a cosmopolitan. The food was amazing we enjoyed everything. Staff were so nice and the manager gave us two free starters.

The food at Satay Bar is really nice. I would definitely recommend it. I haven't heard a bad word about it from the vast number of people I know who have been there. Service is generally good, perhaps a bit more attention at the bar which may be down to the number of customers they get. I enjoy their cocktails. They're not shy on adding a pinch extra alcohol for a bit more kick. Atmosphere is chill.

Family and friends took me there on my Earthstrong. Service was great, food was delicious and cocktails were divine. Would highly recommend, music good not too loud, cutlery clean no left over food debris or water marks. Go check it out you won't be disappointed.

First time I've been to Satay. Prices are as expected ranging from £8-£20 for mains. Lovely chicken Satay skewers, the duck was really good, the chicken Pad Thai was OK, have had better. Happy hour is between 5pm and 8pm. The Thai sour cocktail is very sweet can't taste the whiskey unfortunately. Venue is stylish and staff are polite. Worth it? Not for casual dinning. Bring friends and the atmosphere would be a bit less dry.

A nicely decorated venue at which you can get good tasting food and a variety of drinks including cocktails. Length of service can depend on the time of day you go; it seems to be quite popular with the "after work crew" so it can be quite busy. The atmosphere is warm, there's music played in the background so conversations are not drowned out. There's seating both inside and out; the outside seating is shielded by a large canopy and the space tends to get used even in less than warm weather. Satay Bar is well worth a visit.

It has it's moments and I will always like it, food is great and price not bad, but service has slowed to almost turtle speed, the fastest part was getting seated and getting the bill, waiting for our orders to be taken and then food takes a good 25 minutes on a good not so busy day, with only one main person taking orders the other is slowly crawling table to table. In 15 years of going here, it has gone from 5 star to 3 but don't let that put you off, go for lunch or early dinner to hopefully avoid the crowds and noise, you will enjoy some of the best food this side of South London(when it eventually gets to your table!). I will go back and hope that the experience gets better once again.

Went satay bar on March 11th for my birthday. All the staff were lovely to be fair but Tess who was dealing with our table was so funny and lovely!!! Keep him at satay his amazing. The food was nice and came out at a good time. Defo changed my view of satay as last time I came it wasn’t great but this time was lovely x

As a manager lead by example support your staff. It's only an observation.. he could be really nice but don't pass a dirty table when your staff are under pressure and customers as waiting ... Overall I found him polite.

Food was fine, fiery fries are not at all hot, quite bland really, but main qualm was the service. Waiter was walking up and down the restaurant area and looking at us, as we were quite clearly ready to order and did nothing until our fourth prompt. Food came quickly but they seemed very uncertain where orders were going. Added to that, after the meal as the waiter was clearing up (ages after we had eaten may I add... Again after many prompts) we asked to order drinks and he said he would be back to do so, after leaving half the plates on the table. The waiter failed to come back to clear the rest and take the drink order until, again, more prompts. When the drinks arrived we asked for the bill which failed to appear for another forty minutes, you guessed it, until after many more prompts. I wish I would've contested the service charge as it was abysmal.

Went on a Saturday evening adhoc didn't book. We were not sure how of the seating arrangement. The establishment could do with a better front of house control to organise. It was very busy and happy hour for selected cocktails which was pointed out until we settled the bill, one of the drinks ordered was not include on the list. We waited for ages 20 minutes the bar staff did not pay attention to who arrived first and seemed to served who were favourable to the eye, they lost the concept that everyone is a paying customer, which was bought to the attention to the General manager who apologised and found a table. The food was tasty and portions were decent some of the main dishes can serve 2 and side dish is suitable for 1. Cost. 70 for meal + 4 drinks. I would recommend good clean place. Bar staff could do with customer awareness training.

The food was good as was the service although, the waitress who was not feeling well was the only one at what seemed to be a relatively busy lunchtime. The experience was marred by having to wait for 30 mins to be admitted when they were supposed to open at 12. The manager appeared unperturbed and offered no words of apology for the inconvenience caused, merely enquiring whether I had a booking. When I stated that I had arrived on time because I did not have one, this was met with a blank look which was not a great start. Had I had a booking or arrived half an hour late having made one, I doubt that this would have been considered acceptable. Management take heed - could do better! Lenora Nelson

You have to pay for rice to accompany your meal. We were charged a involuntary service charge because we booked in advance (something I've never experienced at any other restaurant I've been to) and the service we were given was shoddy. We asked for water before we were served our food but even after asking several times throughout the meal, we didn't receive said water until well after we had finished our food. The food was alright, some dishes were better tasting than others but I don't think it was entirely worth a second visit.

It was always one of Brixton's more upscale venues, but it hasn't suddenly found itself awash with people who were previously afraid to venture south of the river.
