Reviews of Smiths of Smithfield
s. s.
Place is nice with a very beautiful and classy ambience. We went to the rooftop restaurant in 3rd floor. Very photogenic and nice view of the cathedral, even as far as upto the Shard.
However, 4 star for the food. Very pricey which can be attributed to the nature of value, but the potion size is also very limited (mains). Good enough just for appetizer but not filling enough.
R. J.
Wonderful restaurant with delicious food. 3rd floor is the best place if you’re looking for a roof top. The view is good, but not great. It’s only 3rd floor so you’ll have to imagine how much you can see. It’s expensive, but worth a visit.
M. H.
Large space that I imagine during the week is packed with after work food and drinks. Our Saturday table felt pretty exclusive, but the food was great, there's an option of smaller nibble plates and some great burgers. I had the vegan chicken burger with BBQ Jack fruit and it was yum! 👌🏻
K. H.
Dined on the top floor. Good views across London with open air and balcony area. Service was great on a busy night. Food was good but not exceptional. Menu felt a bit limited between starter and main course. Overall a good night for a large group of 15 people.
J. R.
The food is delicious and the service is great. The coffee was okay but could be better, although I get this isn't a specialist coffee shop.
The brand of the restaurant being everything in inverted commas is annoying. Who are they quoting when they have a sign for the toilets? Or are they ironic, and implying that these aren't actually the toilets? If it's the latter then I'm concerned for where I urinated.
M. M.
We have been treated with a fine dining experience at the Smiths restaurant in Faringdon. We have been welcomed by the gracious hostess, then took the elevator to the 3rd floor where the rooftop restaurant is situated. Beautiful ambiance and attentive staff who are looking after patrons. Tiny portions, but very very tasty! They have quite a large bar downstairs and a smaller one on the 3rd floor restaurant. I warmly recommend it to go with friends or family to have an enjoyable lunch or dinner.
K. G.
Basic brunch, limited options. Poached eggs, were delivered soft boiled.
I wish the cocktails' menu was updated. Since it looks like it's more likely to be on the summery mood.
No gluten free options.
R. H.
Ate in the bar before a night out. Delicious starters and a cracking burger although have to say the Espresso Martinis were lacking a bit of sweetness..
N. W.
We ate in the downstairs restaurant so can't speak for upstairs. But I was quite disappointed with the food, the burgers were very "well done" and burnt in parts.
I went 5+ years ago and it was brilliant, feels like it's gone down hill slightly unfortunately and doesn't have the same premium vibe it had before.
Staff and drinks were great though.
j. w.
Went for drinks and dinner on Tuesday with the work misses and wow. Loved it, the place feels softer and more elegant. Great steaks and service from the team in both the rooftop bar and restaurant. Thank you
S. C.
Really good pub with a decent menu. Staff couldn't do enough to help us, got busier later on and they had a party in upstairs but you couldn't even tell. Fab pub though!
s.
A truly stunning venue. It is multi faceted and has a gorgeous view. I went there for a work do and had an amazing time. Thank you for your great hospitality :)
N. S.
Recently held a work event at Smiths in their private meeting rooms. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional - and they catered to our every need. Would highly recommend using Smiths for any offsite work meetings.
The offsite culminated with dinner. The food was excellent and, again, staff were excellent! Right combination of the staff being attentive and the food/drinks arriving timely, as well as providing us privacy at this work function.
Overall an excellent day. Huge thanks!
L. C.
Good food. Service was very slow and the toilets needed a good clean. That is a real bug bear of mine and it's just a quick fix too! A disappointing visit.
A. D.
Music incredibly loud while it feels a place you wanna come to have a nice drink and chat.
N.
Good atmosphere, spacious rooms, 4 levels featuring 4 different types of cuisine and level of luxury. Vegan and vegetarian options available on the food menu. Large selection of draft beers across the lagers, pale ales and stouts of the world. Great for corporate events.
N. R.
Really enjoyed this place. It's much better than my first visit a number of years ago. Staff are lovely, welcoming and encourage the right social distancing practises. Menu was surprisingly good too.
Started with some Oysters and followed with one of the best vegetarian dishes I've have had for a long time: King Oyster Mushrooms, Jerusalem Artichoke, Salsify, Endive, Truffle and Egg Yolk.
I highly recommend the Beef Dripping Hash Browns with Chimichurri
S. N.
Great steakhouse right next to a meat market. Good atmosphere. Not too traditional so a good casual place to grab a steak and a few drinks - not too traditional or stuffy. Good option for entertaining. Very good steak not trying to be world's best but just a good restaurant.
M. M.
The terrace and restaurant on level 3 have wonderful views and a very light and airy feel. Service was good as was the food. Expensive as you would expect from this location and setting. Views over St Paul's Cathedral and the financial quarter of the city.
Amazing beef and lamb options as you would expect. We had the Sunday roast which was £21, a good plate of food with duck fat potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, Cauliflower cheese in copper pan, roasted onions and carrots and cabbage. Could have done with more beef. Desserts were lovely and decadent without being sickly.

Reopened after a major refurbishment in 2018. Bar on the Ground Floor, Death + Glory Cocktail Bar on the First, The Grill on the Second - and we ate at No 3 Restaurant on the Third.
No 3 has a great view over Smithfield Market and glass doors that open up along its entire length onto a terrace. Sadly it was too damp and windy to enjoy the latter when we visited.
Although The Grill has a strong meat bias, No 3 has, in addition, an excellent selection of fish and seafood. Nevertheless, I opted for the Pig’s Cheeks starter, Sirloin main (amazing heritage tomatoes side dish) and the Chocolate Pudding. Food and service were excellent.
Only niggle was that the elevator wasn’t working - so not great for guests with heels or less-abled diners. Hence four stars. Need a lift maintenance company with a better call-off agreement and more spares - hey, I’m an Engineer!
T. H.
Great place with three floors catering to three different types of occasion. I've only been to the rooftop restaurant, with huge floor to ceiling glass doors that slide open to connect with the terrace. The rooftop is a suntrap with views across Smithfield Meat Market and St Paul's Cathedral. Food is tapas style where you order 2-3 plates per person and share them across the table. The beer selection was slightly boring and not so great for complimenting the food but not the end of the world considering the rest of the experience.
J. M.
Loved this modern British gastropub - especially the top level! The Scottish Cottage Pie was incredible, and they do a great job with most all of their meat-focused dishes, as they're literally across the street from the meat packing district. Enjoy!
L.
Nice place to visit for food and drinks. Had the lamb shank and it was delicious! The rooftop seating has good views of the neighbouring area so book that section if possible. Not much selection for beer unfortunately.
B. 2.
Ambiance booted the Grill on floor 2. Ambiance was amazing as was the rugged yet polished decor. The starter and main course were 11 or of 10. The scallops are a must as is any steak. The triple cooked chips are up there too as are the Vietnam options which was a pleasant surprise. Desert was average but this place is not about the desert so that is understandable. Definitely will come back to discover the other floors!!
K. R.
An ok bar for after work drinks. Have not eaten in the restaurant so can't comment on it. The bar on the ground floor is quite spacious and good for groups. Limited options on the menu for drinks but they have additional bottles if you go to the bar and order there. Staff can be a bit brisk, would have been ignored but the place was not even half full
s. r.
Had a work event here, friendly staff, nice food and big venue has three or four floors. Our event was on the terrace.
T. F.
Loved our time upstairs with the view of St. Paul's. Lovely pasta and memorable experience.
W. T.
Such a great place to hang out socially, or for a team meal/drinks. The atmosphere is chilled, the food is great, and the service is even better. Always have had positive experiences here.
A. K.
Restaurant at top floor is place with the most beautiful view of London, and the most delicious food and wine, staff well organised and always helpful. Thank you for the most magical evening especially sommelier Mario.
M. A.
Food was delicious, iron steak and rib muffin melted in my mouth, was let down by the somewhat militant waitress who definitely didn't deserve the 20% service charge
J.
Review of the bar on the ground floor:
It's overall ok but expensive. It seems to be a Young's "pub" as you can order via the Young's on tap app but their selection of beer on tap is a joke, there's more cocktail options than beers on tap but that's just the the vibe of the place.
The food is good but definitely overpriced, the classic beef burger in the pictures is £16 and isn't very big, if you look at the picture with the whole plate you can see how big the plate is in comparison to everything else... Was it good? Yes... Was it worth £16? Nope.
The staff are nice and friendly.
Review of the restaurant at the top:
1/5... Rude staff, food was good but the staff definitely ruined the evening.
G. P.
Excellent food, very helpful staff, different dining experience on each floor, place very clean ,not overly expensive, easy reach of train station, will definitely visit again next time in london
N. G.
Went for lunch on the top floor terrace. Lots of space and great views—very classy. Menu is quite classic and definitely not on the cheap side. I had two starters—the peach and goat curd salad and the steak tartare. The salad was lovely and I enjoyed the tartare but this one had a lot of pesto and I prefer it sharper, with more onions and capers. Bill for 2 was about £70 so definitely not cheap.
G. C.
I went there for breakfast and it is really nice and relaxed. Freshly squeezed juices and all the options you would want for brunch. It is on the pricy side but not a bad idea if you want a 'working breakfast' or a proper breakfast before you start your day in the City.
D. E.
Went here for a Christmas dinner with colleagues and it turned out to be a very nice venue. Spacious on each floor with a vibrant atmosphere, not to mention good food and drinks. We also had a private room to us as we were a group of 12 and the service throughout the evening was very prompt and professional.
C. H.
Generally a good atmosphere but under staffed and therefore long wait times for drinks (if they do remember to deliver them)
D. W.
Gotta say the fillet steak (medium rare) is absolutely excellent…best steak I’ve had in a long time. Only downside is the lack of staff who are too busy and the overall experience is impacted.
J. M.
Was here around Halloween time. Atmosphere was great!!! Music was great too. Didn't get to taste the food as I wasn't there long enough but defo next time. I for sure recommend this place.
A. A.
Great time at a wedding. Good food apart from vegetarian main course. Spicy Sweet potato.poached egg in some kind of batter. Look very orange and unappetising. The missus couldn't eat it, however, my meat meal was superb
D. P.
Good food and drinks and really helpful floor staff. The only downside is the service was a little slow and as is the way with Young's pubs, the drinks are pretty expensive. I did like that service was your own choice rather than being added to the bill as 'discretionary'
R. D.
Stunning views, food and wine. 🍷
J. S.
Really like the fact there's alot going on here so coming here multiple times gives it a familiar feeling that most people like but then again going on different floors offer you a different experience. 👌
T. A.
Smiths is a very reasonable place to eat - the ground floor being something of a boozer, the second floor being a little more elegant and the third floor offering very nice food and service.
This is the third visit to Smiths and it is generally good, but not as good as similarly priced restaurants.
My steak was good but not the very best and the service was good but dropped off a little as the night wore on.
a. l. (.
Food was lovely although menu confusing/misleading. This place is ok if you don't need to worry about the bill. Location nice. Staff attentive. Wouldn't rush back x
A. B.
Nice breakfast just not enough of it
V. S.
This review would’ve been a five based on the food - one of the best burgers in London and stellar chips to boot. The service brought us down to three though. They’re definitely not staffed up enough, perhaps hard to hire post-COVID? We weren’t ever looked at again once our food arrived and had to beg for extra ketchup, which honestly is just not the way you want it to be when you’re paying 25 quid for a burger and beer.
o. o.
ordered full english with fried eggs. eggs were served totally cooked , no runny yolk. they changed them and again more or less the same.
J. A.
AMAZING BRUNCH!
My friends and I had a fantastic time, thank you to the team at Smiths! We didn’t mention that we were celebrating a birthday but a very attentive staff member Elliott, noticed and had a special birthday dessert prepared for my friend! The food was both delicious and beautifully presented, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Our server Elliott was so friendly and attentive and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The whole team ensured that our drinks were never empty and all 3 courses were brought out at the perfect time. I cannot fault anything about the brunch, food, drinks and service were all great!
The venue itself is stunning and the service is impeccable. I would recommend to anyone looking for a high quality brunch, Smiths will not disappoint!
S. H.
Food was amazing 👏, the service as well, can't wait to go back, super atmosphere.
E. T.
Really lovely space, enjoyed the atmosphere, interior, service, drinks and food! Will definitly return!
V.
It's a very natural and friendly place with lots of space on 2 floors.
You even get a glimpse of the trains disappearing under the building when you're using the toilet by daytime.
M. W.
Poor, slow service... Gave us the wrong main courses.. Food quality good when it arrived...
P. B.
I had a couple of lunch in the past week on the rooftop restaurant and I’d say that it’s an incredible place. The food is very well presented and high quality, the location is elegant but cozy, and the service is the best, everyone working there make you feel comfortable and special, especially the blonde spanish girl visiting Tuscany soon:)
E. W.
Gorgeous view with a lovely set up! I believe the drinks are slightly overpriced, but most Young’s Pubs are! Would definitely go again!
A. I.
It was decent, but we had to send back a chicken burger as the chicken breast was undercooked. A new one was made instead
J. M.
We had lunch here on Saturday. Great restaurant in a fantastic building. Food was lovely, we had sharing food and the portions were generous.
We also treated ourselves to a cocktail, Expresso Martini was delicious
Service was friendly and welcoming
c. n.
I had the chicken Caesar salad, the chicken was slightly dry and the sauce was really salty. Good service.. the only main fault for my 3 star review, we booked a table for my birthday wanting to eat on the top terrace no 6 restaurant with the whole menu. However on the website never told us it wasn't served on weekends only a very basic lunch menu, no Sunday roast!!) and only bottom floor is open. It was fine just not what we wanted when booking the table.
P. C.
Had an awesome 1.2kg steak from the board. They cut it open, so easy to share. Spinach and mushrooms were really nice as well
T. B.
Only popped in for late afternoon cocktails after a meal with friends. Went to upstairs bar with great views of the City including St Paul's etc. Great cocktails and ambience, well worth a visit NB we didn't eat downstairs so cannot comment on the restaurant.
G. B.
Their fish & chips is really good. Apart from that, being near the meat market is probably a good reason for them to offer a decent choice of good steaks.
D. T.
Food was a solid 4 stars and the atmosphere is good, the place is spacious and they have big tables for 6 people. However, we waited a while to get our order taken and after that the waitress forgot to bring our beverages and it was rather difficult to get her attention. The staff was polite, but I think they cloud be more efficient.
W. R.
Great food, specially for the meat eaters amongst us. With some outstanding service. Will be back soon.
K. G.
Was an absolute lovely lunch. Special food in a relaxed and genuinely hospitable setting. Loved the squid cracker and baked alaska. Planning my next visit already.
M. D.
Only tried the lunchtime burger here, which was okay but somewhat bland and uninspiring. Way short of the billboard outside claiming to be the best burgers in london, certainly not in that league by a long shot.
J. H. T. S. B. B.
Lovely food and drinks, with a real focus on service...really enjoyed it here and the rooftop deck thinking space is a gem.
R. A.
The steak was incredible. I had it 2 weeks ago and I'm still craving it. Definitely recommended.
K. H.
The roof level restaurant was great, nice and spacious.. great views over London. Food delicious...the lamb cutlets and cheesecake were divine!
P. H.
Breakfast menu was good but quite limited since last I visited
Y. K.
If you want some of the finest steak/ food around with stunning views to match then book a table at the top floor. I loved the food and staff were very helpful.
R.
Nice atmosphere, wide range of drinks. Bit pricey
P. N.
Great bar/restaurant with 4 levels. Bar at the bottom, craft beer pub, a restaurant and a rooftop bar. Foods good in the dining room and good selection of beers on the craft beer floor.
C. H.
Wonderful food. Amazing staff. Great atmosphere
M. M.
An overall superb experience. Went to No.2 restaurant for a leisurely lunch. Got a very nice table near the windows as requested. Service was attentive and friendly. The house rosé was good, the ribs I had for starters were excellent. We ordered our meat medium rare but I'd say we got it rare. Not a big deal but would ask for medium next time round. Looking forward to our next visit, soon.
o. j.
Visited for a wedding. It's a great venue for any celebration. The staff were very friendly and vibrant. I would happily visit again
O. O.
Very nice restaurant. Staffs are friendly and the good is very good. Nice view from the terrace as well.
J. P.
This place will forever live in my mind. Had a wonderful evening there with the Mrs
J. G.
Shame the roof terrace was closed but our host treated us to free drinks as compensation. The burgers were good. The England match was not.
A. M.
My dad and I popped in here on our way to the Barbican for lunch. The service was great, very attentive staff. Food was tasty and very reasonably priced and the building itself has such a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and they do eat out to help out too.
B. P.
Awesome, fine dining experience with spectacular views on the roof balcony
C. C.
The burger was incredible, easily one of the best I've had.
G. B.
Really good food and the vegan stuff was spot on
L. K.
Eaten here a few times. The food and wine choices are excellent and it's quite unique in the way you have levels of dining. The ground floor is basically a pie shop (good pies) with a bar. Next up is a more standard dining experience, with a really pleasant menu. Top floor is the top end of the scale with great views through the glass "wall". It's very steak focused and they do it very well.
J. W.
Good modern bar restaurant but the best part is it's open!
C. L.
Went to Smiths for a meal with some work colleagues and even though our booking had been mislaid we were quickly seated. Service was fantastic, answering all questions from the group about the food. The food itself was spot on, with those having steak being very impressed. I had lamb rump which was perfectly cooked, moist and slightly pink.
A. A.
Food was delicious and the terrace is lovely with great views of London. Heaters work well so you stay warm even on a cool night
D. D.
So have been in the bars and restaurants on the first and second floors, typically lively and an interesting crowd from the local workers (of various types).
But last night went to the restaurant on the roof terrace for dinner, we were in a hurry and the service was quick and very good.
But the five stars is for the food and the setting, lovely balance of flavours on the plate (lamb rump) and simple but perfect salads to match.
Wine list looked good, but stuck to a local beer this time, next time will try the wine. Recommended of you are in the area.
D. T.
We visited Smith's for lunch over the weekend. We had booked a table, and I would suggest that if you can, it would be a better idea as it was starting to get busier as we were leaving.
The staff were polite and helpful and the atmosphere was nice.
Our food arrived in good time and most of enjoyed our meal, though we found that those of us who had ordered beans found they were cold. We also had to return a burger because, though we clearly asked for it to be well done, it was quite pink in the middle. This took quite some time and this meant one person in our party was left without food while we all ate, and then was eating alone at the end.
I must say though that the cod and chips was DELICIOUS! Everyone at our table commented that they wished they'd ordered my meal!
d. r.
I loved this place when it was buzzing but it was completely dead at lunchtime on Saturday post lockdown. It is so sad and staff were trying hard
PS on reflection - and given the response from the "owner" i have moved this to a 4*. The three was because of the complete lack of atmosphere, but that was no fault whatsoever of the staff/management. I look forward to coming back (i will even happily queue in future)
J. G.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere!
S. H.
I love the look and feel of this place. I was keen to try the breakfast which I duly did. Mid morning and mid week meant it was pretty quiet and I had a choice of seats. A good breakfast selection but the All Day Breakfast was hard to pass. After this though my experience did deteriorate.
The most important aspect, the food, was a disappointment. It could have been because it wasn't busy and it was at the end of "normal" breakfast time (but it is an "All Day Breakfast") but the bacon was dry, as was the black pudding and the toast was so dry and crisp that it just broke apart when I put my fork into it. The homemade beans were not to my taste, they were very sharp (vinegar taste). The worst offence were the eggs which arrived with hard yokes.
Even though the restaurant (bar area to be precise) was quiet it was difficult to attract attention and no one came to check the meal was ok. This was disappointing. And despite me leaving more than half my meal the waiter didn't even ask if there was something wrong. When I did mention the issues he was shocked and I had a visit from the manager. I did get a refund which was welcomed but breakfast should be the "bread and butter" of the restaurant and such basic issues shouldn't be experienced.
Maybe it was having a bad day but I doubt I would return when there are so many more, and better, options available which is a shame as I wanted to love this place.
K. N.
Enjoyed my time there except for a not so great experience at the bar when myself and a few work colleagues met an unfriendly bar lady who was very unprofessional in her service to us . She is the young lady with a larger dress size - I think she had a piercing (or equivalent) in her face area. I hope she can cheer up a bit and put on a nice and friendly face to customers.
P. H.
Service is great. Nice selection of drinks.
H. H.
Orders all placed through app, venue mostly empty and yet had to wait over twenty minutes for drinks on two occasions. I know everyone is taking some time to get back into the swing of of things post-COVID but...
L. M.
The steaks were perfect and the marrow croquettes were out of this world. On top of fab food there is also a lovely cocktail bar. The best meal I've had in a long time.
E.
Honestly, the best restaurant I've ever been to! The staff are unbelievably attentive. I have several allergies and intolerances and they handed them with ease - a massive thanks to the chef too! The food itself was amazing, easily the best steak I've ever had. After our first experience here my boyfriend and I have been back 3 times in a month! Highly recommended!!
C. K.
Great service. The staff were incredible. On a busy night you felt like you were the only people there. Food was perfect. Even in a large group all meats were cooked exactly as we had asked. Desert was amazing. I had the poached pears. Recommend to all. Such a great restaurant.
C. W.
We have (infrequently) been going to SOS for Sunday brunch for over ten years. These days (since being taken over by Youngs brewery) it's not as busy as it used to be, which is no bad thing as the wait for a table is shorter and generally service is a bit better. The menu is less extensive than it used to be, but still reasonable choice of brunch favourites. Four stars as somehow SOS is not quite the venue it used to be, and competition for brunch is now much more extensive, but it's still a good place for brunch in that area. Parking is easy on a Sunday morning in that area as well, which helps!
C. N.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in London.
A. C.
Great, eclectic restaurant/bar/social venue. Food is good, layout is fun. If you don't want another boring chain, and do want somewhere where you can even get breakfast and eat any time, this is a great venue to pick. Think fun with atmosphere rather than refined.
R. B.
The express menu is terrific value, 2 courses and a drink for £15. However the steak I had was very gristly.
They knocked a decent chunk off the bill to compensate which was nice.
The service was great. And the selection of 70 craft beers is fantastic.
R. J. R.
Highly recommended. Came here for a wedding in September and already knew the food was amazing. Came back for dinner (Just the two of us) and was not disappointed. We had chateaubriand and it was cooked to perfection! Our waiter was very attentive and the whole evening was perfect. Great venue. Will definitely visit again.
C. V.
Fine food with nice view over the Farringdon area. I Recommend going there for the sunset and ask for a table next to the glass outside. Best scallops I’ve ever had. Steak was great but slightly overpriced I believe. Fondant chocolat and banana ice-cream is just terrific ❤️
Still recommend the place.
D. H.
I call this my "happy place"! It's always open, the food is great as is the atmosphere. The bottom floor acts as a 'pub' and maintains a great vibe given the size and space. The beef burgers are a must - great size and come with fries! Though there's the fish fingers sandwich which is just as great, so is the vege-burger. Every option is covered. Upstairs changes and evolves from craft beer to cocktail bars and offers another level of interest, and the standards get higher, and more sophisticated as you progress each level. I've eaten at all levels - every time was excellent - and I've been coming for years. But ground floor is my favourite. My wife and I used to come here on weekends (in search of some adult time, envying the smug ravers from fabric next door), for brunch and Bloody Mary's (while our two very young babies had their morning nap by our sides in their buggies)! No one minded, and for an hour or so we felt like we had our lives back!
A. H.
Ate in the grill, perfect steak, good wine. Service could be a little better but was good enough. Have been for drinks upstairs and the balcony is very nice indeed. Downstairs has a good vibe, wasn't crazy busy, which was nice.
G. C.
What a wonderful experience from Sam, Elliot, and of course Leon and your beautiful team. Thank you. The food from my main to dessert was delicious and nicely presented and the wines recommended was an awesome treat and the venue, super sweet with lots of history.
A big thanks to my buddy Aussie J for taking me to SOS. Great conversation as always.
Definitely returning!
Loves you all!!!
S. J.
We ate at the No 3 terrace restaurant and it’s no surprise that chef Liam Walsh and his team have just retained their double AA rosette. The setting is lovely, outside tables with heaters and excellent service. The food really was devine, especially the octopus starter. For the quality of the dishes served here the value is astonishing. Great wine list too. Highly recommended for either a romantic night out, or group party.
Y. G.
First time visit to Smith's for Breakfast with a friend. Lovely converted Warehouse, great location opposite Smithfield Meat Market.
Breakfast was very good, not cheap but good value English Breakfast. Well cooked, choice of how you want things cooked and overall very enjoyable.
Highly recommended for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

This place is brilliant. Staff friendly and the £30 bottomless brunch is great value for money. Been coming here years, so I can honestly say, it is consistent and I've never had any problems.
S. L. S.
Food and drink great, fantastic atmosphere. The staff were such a let down. Completely forgot about us all evening. Had to constantly ask. Even had to order after stopping the waitress in the middle of the restaurant because she wouldn't take our order.
Ask for the check twice and she still forgot...
Really really disappointing because it's a great place.

Fantastic service, gorgeous food and a great view from the No. 3 rooftop restaurant & terrace. There’s four levels to this place, with each one having a completely different vibe and atmosphere from smart fine dining to casual food and booze on the ground level. Enjoy.

While visiting London for work I was lucky enough to have found this great place! Being an American and living abroad it is very hard to find a place that makes you feel at home while traveling. Living in Italy for the last few years my pallet has got bored with the overrated food of my local eatery's . So walking in Smith's felt like something out a movie I hadn't seen in a long time. Great food and relaxing atmosphere, I'll make sure to visit again on my next trip to this beautiful city!

We attended the Bistro for lunch and left disappointed. At 37 and 40 pounds respectively for steak and chips we were expecting great things.
After finding out the big cut board did not exceed 750g for bone in cuts and 450g for filet. We went for 2 x sirloin and 1 x fillet.
At times there was not even a server present within the entire restaurant although when they were the service was friendly and attentive. At peak lunch hour there were only 3 other covers present so that might be why there was hardly any staff around.
The filet and 1 of the sirloin was very tasty however 1 had to be sent back as it was utterly disgusting and borderline edible. The replacement was excellent.
For dessert we ordered two sticky toffee puddings which were excellent.
For the price point the bistro misses the poi t entirely and is a borderline rip off. There is much better to be had elsewhere.

Simply the best !
Amazing brunch with the girls . Impeccable service , lovely food just had an amazing time . Leon’s service and treatment of us was first class . I can’t wait to return . The staff are wonderful. Thank you for a great time.

Great place to have breakfast when in the neighborhood, the big English breakfast looked amazing but I had the healthier avocado and poached eggs on toast. Looks like it is also a nice venue for dinner and drinks. Looks out on the Smithfield meat market which is a bonus!
D. G.
Good steaks. Nice restaurant inside. Only complaint was that I wasn’t happy with the portion side my meal gathering what I had paid. I got very few chips, and with only a piece of steak my plate looked quite empty. Hopefully the other restaurants upstairs are better.
H. M.
Good place to hang out with friends on a Friday evening. 4 floors with a bar at the bottom. Top floor has balcony seating and a more formal vibe, compared to the more casual floors below. I ordered pork which I wasn't too impressed about but others had steaks which looked and was reportedly nice.
M. L.
Great spot for Sunday brunch, with a menu full of robust breakfast dishes that simply taste fantastic - every little ingredient seems to have been thought through, from the bread to the sauce. Prices are very reasonable, and the cavernous space makes it ideal for large group brunches. Only drawback is the rather inattentive service, and the fact that they only seemed to have one member of staff who knew how to make coffees - our food was served before we got our hot drinks.
H. H.
I've been here for both bottomless brunch and after work drinks and thoroughly enjoyed both. Friday drinks was surrounded by a trendy 'young professionals' crowd and even resulted in some spurious dancing. Get there early if you want a table. Brunch was great - the food tasty and the bloody maries spicy. You just have to pester a bit to get them refilled... Or maybe I drink to quickly.
K. A.
Good food, good service and good atmosphere. We went for a family lunch as a table of 8 plus a baby and had a lovely time. The reason for the three star review is based on how disgustingly dirty the baby high chair was. Please give them a clean, especially the straps.
J. F.
I can't speak of the upper floors, I had lunch in the ground floor cafe bar. It was okay, but I can't see what all the fuss is about really? The staff were attentive enough but sometimes hard to find.
Given the price and the rave reviews I was expecting something a little more. The downstairs menu is quite trim, and doesn't have that many options, I guess people are supposed to be focused on drink in this area.
To start I had the Salt and Pepper Squid, within which the pepper seemed to be in hiding and the sriacha was like wimpy's ketchup. My friend had the whitebait with tartar The whitebait themselves were passable I guess... The tartar on the other hand was quite incredible. If the review was for this part of the evening alone then it would have been 5 stars for sure. (I wonder if someone put special attention into this element).
Mains were again lackluster. Raw red onion in the crab burger, what's that all about? It takes all of 3 minutes to warm them up in a pan and add a bit of caramelization. It was veganuary, but still to have a veggie burger on the menu whose contents is 'undisclosed' was quite odd. I can let you in on a little secret, its beetroot based. It is hard to distill the earthy flavours of beets alongside the salty kick expected of a 'burger' and I'm not sure this one managed. It went down fine with lashings of mustard, salt and pepper, (for some of the crumbs, I even robbed some of the tartar from earlier)
This review could be bumped up to a 3.5 in that they had gluten free buns as an option. so props for that.

Nice decor, long wait for a drink on Friday

Had a great night out last night one of my friend's had a leaving do, it was amazing. The atmosphere great and the music was fantastic it would reccomend it to all my friends. We were chatting, dancing, laughing and enjoying the company of the group that was there.
D. O.
Decent, but not really my type of establishment.
It feels that they have not figured out what they want to be - either a British bar where they are trying to get people drunk by upselling jagerbombs or a nice place where you can have a drink and a meal.
I am sure that some people will like it.
On top of being asked 5 times if I would like a jagerbomb by the same person, their Old fasgioned is 3 out of five max, which influenced the rating.
J. D.
Ten of us had a late lunch here and most of us ordered the Steak and Frits and we were all pleasantly surprised that they were the size they were and delicious. We then decided we needed a pud and the Sticky Toffee pudding was lovely. Second visit to Smith's and would recommend!
R. F.
Mainly steak style menu. Food leaves you feeling underwhelmed (small portions, watery sauce, luke warm starter), as does the service, which is below par. For the prices charged I expect more. To be fair, the atmosphere of the building is good, if somewhat noisy, but fun especially for groups. I wont be returning unless I hear that the overall experience improves. Hawksmoor prices with steak house service
F. F.
Nice ambience on bottom floor, reasonably maybe a bit higher priced, very nice staff always up for a joke!
Had dinner on top floor, good oysters with a fantastic Austrian Riesling, great sirloin, sides were ok, bit pricey but good. Hot chocolate cake was a good finish
R. W.
Came here for breakfast, booked a table but need have bothered as almost empty when we arrived around 11am. Food was nice, nothing special and not quite as described on the menu and staff seemed mostly disinterested. Shame as it’s a nice setting and could have easily been a much nicer experience.
A. L.
Amazing! Went for Saturday Bottomless Brunch and it was fantastic.
Great food, drinks and service along with perfect social distancing. Cannot recommend enough!
G. S.
Staff is wonderful, but the music on the ground floor is WAY TOO LOUD. Moving the group events somewhere where we can talk next time.
EDIT: Listen, Neil, thanks for the reply. It's still fairly loud on the first floor as well. Honestly, there's still no reason that music needs to be that loud. I get it, bars with loud music make more money because 1) people drink faster, 2) are more uncomfortable because they're awkwardly trying to hear their friends, and 3) their blood pumps faster, they're more energized, move faster, dance more, etc. From the street, this pulls people in.
Still, when visiting feels difficult and intense, I'm more apt to not return. Money in your pocket one night may be difficult on the long term viability of repeat custom.
Appreciate the response.
C. C.
Brunch was great but the steak was overcooked despite us sending it back. Service wasn't good enough as we had waited at least 20mins for our pancakes, yet when we chased it up, the waitress couldn't really give us an answer as to how long it'd take. Also, she took the wrong, order down for the desserts but nevermind, we didn't bother explaining after to her.
M. G.
Fantastic in so many ways. We are so pleased with Smiths since the refurb, firstly you can now go to the top floor just for a drink. It’s one of the best drinking terraces in London and on the weekends it’s pretty quite so it’s a real hidden gem. We’ve had breakfast downstairs a few times which has always been great and the vibe is so much better than it was before but today was truly fantastic because we were able to enjoy a high end restaurant that really welcomes children (1yr old) we booked into the top floor for Father’s Day and the team were so welcoming and friendly towards us and our son that it made it one the best dining experiences we’ve had as parents. The food was delicious and really good value for the quality of the food. I highly recommend the new and improved Smiths.
C. W.
Was on level 2 as there are three levels for different dining experiences. My risotto was underwhelming as it was under seasoned. There was a mushroom flavour but felt it needed more of a concentration of mushroom as the pearl Barley itself had very little flavour to it. Perhaps it should have been boiled in mushroom stock.
D. B.
Okay atmosphere. Staff are quite rude and unhelpful
E. M.
Great view over Smithfield Market, roof terrace and good selection of wines, cocktails and beers. Only the lack of co ordination let it down. You can't order beer upstairs you have to go down, offers on Prosecco and cocktails don't apply in all bars and so on which was irritating.
P. C.
On a cold morning it was pretty frisky for breakfast, but we persevered none the less. Good things: the food, and the coffee. Bad things: Very indifferent service. Shrugged when we said we had a reservation. Staff seemed more interested talking amongst themselves. Mind you, it was cold, so a three star review becomes a four out of sympathy. But please, don't lots of staff hang around without taking care of customers.
C. R.
I had the grilled king oyster mushroom from the rooftop restaurant and it was delicious. The setting is beautiful, making it a great choice for a special occasion. The service improved throughout the evening
A. J.
Amazing restaurant. Excellent cuisine spread across veg, non veg and vegan. House wine is good too. Service is quick and right time expectations are set while ordering.
M. M.
A bit around the corner, but worth it. Different floor levels with different concepts ranging from classic pub to fine dining. All with a modern, but not overhyped feel. Good wines and food throughout.
S. H.
My 3rd visit. But my first time on the 3rd floor. Great views over London. Fantastic food. Downside: it's a bit expensive and the service could have been a bit quicker.
C. R.
Dined in 2nd floor. Nice venue, attentive staff. Pasta starter and pavlova dessert divine. Had Tomahawk deal. Wine good. Meat a bit tough, cooked well accordingly. Will go back to try other meal deals which looks good value.
C. B.
Excellent food, the steaks are incredibly well cooked and flavoured. Staff were amazing and made sure we were very well looked after. One of the best steaks I've ever had
M. M.
Great place to grab a drink after work. Very chilled out atmosphere with a decent range of beers and cocktails on offer. It is a little pricey but its generally not to busy on a week night so you can usually get a seat.
M. M.
Went there for my boyfriend's work party yesterday, cocktails were great if a little boozy - I loved the effect of putting dry ice in them. I'm not sure where the catering came from but it wasn't brilliant in terms of vegetarian options, there was pretty much just hot camembert, bread and Rucola leaves. Not great for my boyfriend who's lactose intolerant and had to eat meat instead. I'm giving 4 stars because I'm not sure who's fault that was, but it was rather annoying.
N. A.
Really nice atmosphere and the staff wrre great. Pity the burgers were a bit on the small side.
M. A.
Nice atmosphere, the food was very average. Asked for a rare venison and it came back blue. Not really good enough, there are many a good restaurant in Farringdon who can cook a steak.
A. F.
Went to Smiths yesterday for the first time since it's refurbishment!
It continues to be a lovely venue. The Host Naseera was excellent, she was kind enough to take us on a "tour" and show us around the venue - where we also met Leon the terrace Manager who was equally as lovely - before we settles at the ground floor bar for some drinks!
Altogether a lovely afternoon with fantastic service! Thank You!
S. D.
Good music and big place distributed on many floors, no matter if you are there to dance, having dinner or just a cocktail, you can sense the NY vibe when you walk inside this place. I've been at the cocktail bar floor and we had really good drinks, served with some pop-corn and water that will be refilled by the waitress. Excellent service. Would recommend without any doubts.
I. M. O.
Amazing stuff, great music and really good food
R. H.
Had the most incredible chateau-briand and prawns 🦐 🥩 last night (& cocktails 🍸 & Scallops). The Grill restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service from every member of staff was outstanding. Well done Smiths of Smithfield 👏🏻
S. G.
I've eaten here a couple of times with colleagues because it's right around the corner from the office.
I've only ever eaten in the downstairs area, and that is pretty nice for a team lunch. There are big tables with plenty of space for fairly large groups.
I've never had more than a Coke to drink, but the cocktails always look appealing when I've seen others drink them. The food has been great every time, and I've never seen anyone order something that looks bad.
There's a good atmosphere here even in the middle of the week, and there's often some good music playing.
The only thing that lets it down for me is that sometimes the orders get a bit mixed up or delayed and someone ends up watching everyone else eat for 10 minutes. Not a major gripe, and certainly doesn't seem likely for a small group.
L. R.
Review for No.3 Terrace. Great food, but below average service. We had a late lunch and some staff were quite friendly, however some were unnecessarily arrogant. (We get it you work in a posh restaurant)
S. H.
Great service, food a bit disappointing. We booked on an offer for steak and malbec. I ordered a starter which was fine, but my steak was half delicious and half sinewy. The chips were pretty average albeit generous.
A. N.
As a late night venue, I really enjoy Smiths, despite the fact it always feels too big for its boots. Perhaps I'm just unlucky but for such a lot of floor space, there's so little footfall, which dampens the atmosphere somewhat. Still, good music, fun staff and a nicer location, you can't go far wrong with it on a night. Never really go in the day though, soz.
E. E.
Loved this place, we eat in The Grill and eveything from the food (the burger is amazing) to the service and even the decor was fab. We then headed downstairs to Death + Victory for cocktails and again we loved it.
Booked to go back this Friday to eat at No.3
J. F.
The food/meat here is good. However, the service is poor. The server forgot to deliver a salad prior to main course and he did not return once dinner was placed on the table to see how everything came out or to offer wine with the sirloin.
C. P.
Went to the Dining Room floor with a group of friends. Atmosphere was good, music wasn't too too loud for chatting, and service was great. We had the Côte de boeuf thick cut from the chalk board, and it was of great quality and cooked to perfection.
Would definitely go back
M. C.
I have dined on the top floor of Smith's more than 10 times. Each time, has been a bit different - sometimes a very special work celebration, other times just a fun night out and one time with my nephews and brother. In every case - the food, in particular the large cuts of meat, done to serve family style, with all of the sauces on the sides and the full array of side dishes that can accompany the meal, are excellently prepared, and delicious. I have had many very good wines at both ends of the price spectrum as well as cleaned out their selection of rose champagnes one evening. This is always an evening to remember, well cared for in the "shadow" of St. Paul's and the Shard in the distance. A really wonderful food place, with excellent wine, fabulous desserts (I am ashamed I did not mention them before) and great service. A Must in London
M. L.
The top floor restaurant is pricey but superb. Excellent service and delicious food. Topped by a fantastic view across the roof tops of London. Delicious steaks, although the whole menu was delicious.
J. A.
Reviewing only for brunch, really good food, great atmosphere for families and just casual get together. Their fish and chips is surprising good. Also had reasonable prices
E. O.
lovely setting and staff. but in my opinion the food is below par. I n their defence i ordered a cottage pie main (5/10) and also tasted their mac and chease side (3/10), I believe they specialise in steak.
T. S.
Has such a lovely evening here with my other half. We were sat in the corner of the terrace, beautiful weather so we were very lucky, steak was cooked to the perfection. Love the atmosphere of the venue.
P. B.
Fabulous restaurant on the 3rd floor with outside seating. Excellent staff, anyone with a food allergy feel secure in the knowledge they do pay attention, even on the evening of our booking staff came and explained everything on menu and what i could and couldn't eat. 5 stars.
A. P.
Located opposite to London’s Smithfield meat market, Smiths of Smithfield was acquired and refurbished by Young's in 2017 which has removed some of authentic industrial feel of the place, unfortunatly transforming into something closer to Soho House. While located in a historic building, the restaurant was only founded in 2000 by MasterChef judge John Torode.
Despite the change in ownership and atmosphere, the original premise still remains. One large venue with the heart of Smithfield that offers different experiences. You could literally eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a different exprience and food. What is worth keeping mind is that the higher the floor, the more expensive the menu gets.
The ground floor is Smiths, a casual all-day café and bar. Usually a spot for local workers having a drink after office hours. The first floor features Death + Victory a cocktail lounge that takes its name from the plaque laid in Smithfields to honour of William Wallace. The third floor is the Grill offering booth, tables in a relaxed atmosphere. The top floor is No3 at Smiths offering a more exclusive and expensive dinning experience as well as an all-season rooftop terrace. The difference between the Grill and No3 comes down to service, price and good. No3 is a bistro like restaurant focused on meat and fish. A 275 gram fillet steak will you £34. The largest cut of meat it offers is a 750 gram cut.
I have visited the three venues and would recommend the Grill as the best value for money and food quality. The top floor restaurant, No3 is on the expensive side, the menu is not distinctive enough and while the terrace is a crowd pleaser it is only good during the summer. What is consistent is the service - friendly and attentive. During my last visit I was unfortunately served a bad cut of meat, which was promptly replaced by the manager with no questions asked. The final recommendation is the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It is something else.
A. K.
Nice place for lunch with a reasonable variety of food.
I had a vegan and a dedicated meat eater along with me and both were ( pleasantly ) surprised at the options they each had.
Good service but a touch pricer than expected ( was anticipating ~£12 each, was ~£16 )
J. T.
Well looked after by staff.
There is an app for ordering if you're nervous and some very quiet times to visit if you prefer
Food is good and wine list varied
C. V. A.
SOS hosted my friends dinner party in one of their private dining rooms, from start to finish everyone was incredibly helpful. Food was great and good value for money, service was attentive and genuinely friendly. Would highly recommend.
M. S.
Beautiful warehouse style building that presents four different atmospheres depending on which floor you are in. Lively Cafe in the ground floor that serves humble food, beer bar in the first floor (it used to be the wine room long time ago), dining room in the second floor (not as good as I remembered) and the top floor (beautiful views, and till this date, my favourite floor). If you plan to go there, forget about the dining room and go straight to the top floor you want be disappointed.
P. B.
Nice venue, but very pricy.
R. B.
Good pub very lively Friday night and not full of the poshboy stockbroker types. The Expresso Martini is wonderful. Big screen for sports events and set over 3 floors plenty if room and tables.
Defo go there again.
E. W.
Smiths is a firm favourite of mine. There 3 levels of dining make it perfect for lunch with friends, a business meal or a romantic dinner for two. The craft beer bar is also incredibly well stocked and the staff are very knowledgable! At lunch get the fish finger sandwich and a hard shake. For dinner start with the scallops and devour a steak!
M. L.
I always enjoy Smiths - be it breakfast or the last visit of drinks with old colleagues - great to see its survived all this nonsense.
N. T. (.
Enjoyed this. Been here before and it's been hit and miss but this time was better. Pork belly starter was delicious. Burger a little flavourless but enjoyable nonetheless.
I. G.
This place has everything. Weather it's a start of the day breakfast or lunch right through to an evening meal. Great atmosphere amazing food and just the best staff. 5 ⭐
J. H.
Ate in the the roof terrace. From start to finish, the service was excellent. Really attentive staff, excellent food and great wine to compliment the meal. Nice alternative view over the market and beyond. Highly recommended.
L. D.
There aren't very beers on draught here, but it does have a very large array of bottles and cans to choose from. It's definitely a little quieter than the bar downstairs, so it's possible to actually have a conversation with your friends. When they were closing, they weren't too bossy about having us leave their bar area, I guess this is because the bar downstairs is open until late.
R. O.
Service average. Steak good. Hole in the ceiling so when it rained outside, it rained inside and diluted my red wine. They didn't move us.
A. T.
Katie is totally right about the new cocktail bar being an oasis of calm. It has a fantastic chilled out atmosphere and is a much more relaxing counterpart to the bar downstairs for afterwork drinks. Great cocktails, great food. I'd go on a date here if I was dating. But I'm not.
S. V.
Nice venue but toilets were not flushing on our floor which meant going to another floor & they hadn't catered for enough food for the large party that we were holding a work gathering. Certain people were left waiting after everyone else had eaten.
Y. B.
We had a nice leaving do and again view was great.
R. W.
Very loud downstairs on a Thursday evening, making some conversations a little tricky. Friendly barstaff and some decent drinks promotions soften the blow somewhat, but I was disappointed by the quality of the gin selection.
Music selection on the Thursday was a mix of classic and modern hip-hop & R'n'B.
C. A. C.
I love having my breakfast there ! The bacon and sourdough is grilled and you feel that slow burnt taste of charcoal. Definitely I will come back
B. B.
Enjoying a good after work drink. Friendly environment inside and easy going with the layout. Havent had food there, but more of the social starting place.
Good beer, and easy access to other bars and clubs in the area.
G. M.
A Clerkenwell stallwart, still going strong. The bar can get noisy and busy, but it's a great place for a relaxed lunch. The bistro restaurant on the second floor puts out great value well cooked and presented food - their current lunch set menu is particularly good.
B. M.
Cocktail bar was great, very friendly however dinner at the restaurant was dissapointing. Really limited menu nothing that particularly grabs one's attention. Waiting staff couldn't bring drinks from the cocktail bar and asked us to get them ourselves. Terrible bottled beer list in the restaurant and no beers on tap.
M.
Very modern industrial style lay out excellent food very reasonable
R. W.
Nice place for a wine and beer after work, especially if you’re in a larger group. Friendly bar staff made you feel at home after a hard day at work 🙂 Also has private rooms which looked fun for those holding functions.
R. B.
A friendly restaurant located in the heart of lively Smithfield Market. The NY look & feel with open spaces, blasted brickwork, big windows and comfy leather seating quite pleases me, as a Big Apple fan I am! A choice of 3 floors with 3 different atmospheres: cool, convivial or chic.
P. G.
In my opinion the burgers are not that good plus the "special" sauce doesn't really improve it, the sweet potato wedges are so big that are not enjoyable, and price wise is similar to other well-known chains better than this one. Ok for one day, but I prefer other places.
P. K.
food was nice staff were friendly. little slow on the meal but we were a large table. keep up the great work guys
R. S.
Here I am at one of the greatest meat markets in the World. I get plenty of great beef locally in the large cities nearby. They had a pork t-bone. I was looking for old school pork with some fat. I asked several times to make sure the pork would be cooked medium. I wanted to see pink. I was assured this would be the case.
The pork comes out WAY over cooked. I asked about it, and the server said she'd ask the chef. The chef comes out. I tell the story while the others at the table agree I was pretty much over the top about wanting it pink. The Chef says that cooking it that way causes disease. It has to be well done. I'll skip the back and forth. In the end, he said he'd cook it that way, but take no responsibility for when I got sick. Even in the US, the USDA, the most conservative of groups, has dropped the temp for cooking pork from 160 to 145.
So, in the end, decent pork. Nice wine. A great group of coworkers and clients to be with. That makes up for the cooking.
T. C.
Huge place, interesting building and lots of excellent craft beer options as well as cocktails and wine. Two separate restaurants, ensure your book into the right one as the top floor is fine dining and a lot more expensive/stuffy!
S. C.
i go here pretty regularly with clients for lunch; great salads, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and fish finger sandwiches... however only giving it 3 stars as i had the steak on Friday which should be their forte as a "Smithfield" restaurant, and at best i would describe as a dodgy pub quality; tough and poorly cooked.
J. F.
Have eaten on a few of the different floors here and all styles of food have been amazing. They do a very nice breakfast with Prosecco at the weekends. Great meat selection!
A. S.
Great food and great atmosphere (if you like bustling venues). Fixed price lunch was good vfm too. Service was a tad slow for my liking but will definitely go back again.
P. L.
Last Saturday, my wife and I dined for the first time at Smiths. The building is industrial in style, with loads of internal ducting/steelwork, but the furnishings take the hard edge off the building fabric. The four floors are arranged around a central atrium, providing a feeling of space. Music was laid back and unintrusive. We were welcomed at reception and taken to the cocktail bar, where a huge range of cocktails were available, as well as wine's beers and spirits. Cocktails ranged from about £6 to £12 and were well and quickly made - served with a smile. We then went up to the Dining Room. the waiting staff were extremely attentive, helpful and had time to chat / discuss the menu and wine choices. Service was quite prompt, but we didn't feel at all rushed. Starters (Thai Langoustine Salad and Lucky Squid) were delicious. For mains, we both had surf and turf. Very nicely cooked and served. A bit pricy at £27.50, but I'd order it again. I had a liquid dessert and my wife a 'solid' one - both were excellent. We drank Sauvignon Blanc with starters and a bottle of Malbec/Cabernet France with mains. Both were excellent. We asked for coffee to be served on the roof balcony/terrace, so that we could smoke and enjoy panoramic views across St Paul's and the city. A perfect end to a very enjoyable evening. We would certainly go again. Cocktails, Starters, Mains, two glasses and a bottle of wine, coffee and liqueurs, including service was around £200. Well worth it for the atmosphere and service - with very good standard food and drinks.
A. G.
5 stars for the food and the terrace on the top floor and for the ground floor meat heavy fare at breakfast and lunch times. Not so keen on the 2nd floor food but i loved the space. Evening cocktails on the ground floor were less than stellar and I've often spotted John Torode around keeping his team in check.
b. h.
Great food and love the open atmosphere
C. K.
Smiths is divided into 3 levels: burger joint, brasserie and posh restaurant. All levels serve decent food and have a very different atmosphere. All in all, food quality is really good - their beef sourced straight from Smithfields Market is worth a try.
J. H.
Top floor dinner for work last night. The lamb was one of the best dishes I've eaten in London. The "Barcelona" G&T beforehand was a bit over the top, they're not that flavored down in Barna town.
Y. W.
Superb Restaurants with four floors of food and drinking. Like the decoration style here, especially the toilet. Recommend you come here to have £16.50 two courses lunch here on Mon and Tue. The fries and hanged steak with honey mustard and watercress is my favourite.
J. B.
I only use the ground floor cafe at lunch times which provides simple but good lunch time fayre. Service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food. A great place for lunch and a nice ambience
G. B.
Great food. Service was a bit slow
S. G.
Quality of the steak doesn't quite match the price. Atmosphere was good, and staff are friendly. Too noisy downstairs on a Thursday for a drink and discussion.
E. E.
Very tasty breakfast. Full English for £9 is quite expensive, but the bacon and sausages really are top notch. Only issue was that the food arrived to our table cold. Quite annoying considering the cost.
E. G.
Had a bottomless brunch on Saturday and it was probably the best dining experience I have ever had. Our service was excellent and really kept on top of our prosseco refills. Not one criticism!
J. B.
We had a very enjoyable company Christmas Dinner there; although they did change the menu s couple of days before we were due to go there (table was booked at least a month before) and we weren't informed in advance. However, I enjoyed my dinner
C. T.
In a giant Warehouse, SOS breaks up the floor with the most casual at the bottom, rising up to become smarter as you head upstairs. Down on the ground floor we had an SOS burger which wasn't cheap but was tasty but not outstanding. A nice place. The biggest downside wasn't the expensive burger but the thin milkshakes.
H. B. (.
We had brunch on the ground floor restaurant and bar. There was a wide range to choose from and the quality of the food was very good. We will be going back to try different dishes!
A. I.
Nice burgers! Also, the place is huge, over multiple floors, so lots of sitting areas. Liked the looks of the craft beer bar, although didn't get the chance to try any.
P. A.
Probably the most delicious pork dish, mashed potato and creamed spinach I will eat in a long time. This was matched with a lovely red wine and immaculate service.

The best steak in london - hands down. The restaurant is lovely, and the waiters are uber professional and friendly. My steak melted in my mouth, and every table around was was exclaiming at the deliciousness. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny

Had a client breakfast here this morning. Very good service, tasty coffee and my cooked breakfast was delicious! I've been here a few times and it's consistently good.
B. I.
Worth the wait! Hidden Gem of a place
M. J.
Pricey for a lunch menu with food that is decent but not up to the standard of the cost. Or the local competition. A slightly soggy pie and a batch of mussels that were in a rancid broth. Yikes. Not cool.
D. B.
Menu is a bit lacking. Food is good but not great. But the venue fantastic. Large open space. Busy but not crowded. Would definitely go again.
E. W.
Great sausages and bacon and superb black pudding, albeit relatively stingy portions for a full english. Good service, but you can get a better value breakfast elsewhere.
C. C.
Good food, well priced. We had Carolina serve us and she was amazing (on her first week as well) Genuinely made the visit great
C. P.
Gigantic multi-story bar and restaurant with nice spacious vibe. Food was great but the service a bit of a disappointment, though we were a big group. I'd go back for the salt beef though -- yummy.
S. P.
Delicious, fresh tasting food

I booked an away day for 8 board directors who had an absolutely great time. Nothing was too much for the team and they were extremely accommodating to all my (last minute) requests.
Thanks to Courtnie for all your hard work and amazing attention to detail.
D. M.
Nice steak, nice views, overall worth a visit. Not in my view the best (e.g. Goodmans, Cut) or the best value (e.g. Grill on the Market) place for Steak in London, but decent in its own right.
M.
I was looking for photos of the brunch I had here a few weekend agos but I didn't take any which means I was starving by the time the food came out or that there wasn't much to photograph. I don't remember what I had but that's not necessarily a bad thing as I broke my ankle in 3 places the next days. So it's not a surprise I don't remember. Morphine is a hell of a drug.... Anyways the food wasn't offensive and the unlimited procescco was really good. Service wad a tad slow but it's a Saturday, I'd be slow too.
I.
Lovely place for a quick breakfast; good food that's not excessively expensive. Imperfect, but pleasant enough for a 4-star review.
T. E. J.
Had a pretty good night here. Service was not too bad. Didnt have to wait long to served and it was a Friday end of the month night too! Only given three stars as I will be back for food! Breakfast looks pretty good.
E. B.
Popped in for lunch and the burger was good, but I've had better, and I would have expected better seeing as the marker is across the road.
The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was very good though, that seems to be the way to go.
T. J.
Standard beer choices, nothing too fancy, good is quite good standard pub fare. Large open space, table service, has almost an American feel to it.
N. B.
Inviting space. Enjoed a pint, not the biggest varriety. But had your standard selcetion with a few local from camden. The dining area was cozy and the music was enjoyable. If youre in the area worth it to stop by for one
S. P.
Corporate friendly place with lots of room if you need somewhere to grab lunch with colleagues. Farringdon is full of overpriced suit traps so a good one to keep up your sleeve. The open kitchen is a nice touch.
J. W.
Great place for my son's birthday good food sensibly priced and an above average wine list and beer choice
D. K.
Was at the ground floor bar. Good beer selection and the burgers looked nice too although did not try but the usic is too loud!! You couldn't hear your voice.
C. T.
Fabulous unlimited brunch with an excellent selection of food options to go with 90 mins of unlimited Prosecco, Mimosas or Bloody Mary's. Can't recommend this place highly enough!!
L. G.
One of the best restaurants in Farringdon - a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for and the quality is great. Cool decour and spacious upstairs so good for big parties. Definitely recommended.
S. C.
Step through the noisy bar to the lifts and be transferred to contemporary model of civility overlooking London.
Lovely wine selection rounds off the excellent menu.
N. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed Number 3, great view of the City by night, the octopus starter was tasty, the pork belly delicious, enjoyed the Meerlust Cab Sauvignon.
t.
Try the Coffee martinis. They are good. Good range of gins and bourbon too. You don't see 4 roses bourbon behind a bar very often.
P. A.
Great place but not the cheapest
K. G.
I've not been much of a fan of Smiths in the past, because I've found the ground floor bar to be a bit too noisy and uncomfortable. However, the Bar & Lounge is like an oasis of calm - the music plays at the right level not to be intrusive and the seats are nice and cosy. I tasted the Lady Bracknell (pomegranate and pineapple juice, elderflower cordial, lemonade) and the Maluku Punch (freshly pressed red grapes & red apple infused with cinnamon & cloves) which were reassuringly flavoursome - not a sugary fruit juice in sight. The bar has quite an interesting selection of 'light bites', although I'd recommend avoiding the smoked cheese and herb croquettes, unless you want molton cheese exploding all over your hands! Tricksy food items aside, this would be a great spot for birthday drinks or an after-work catch-up with friends.
D. D.
Beer on the bottom floor steak on the top.
Lovely table service in the rooftop restaurant with an interesting menu.
The bottom floor is perfect for an after work drink.
D. B.
I like Smithfield a lot. But not the prices. I let Smithfield and got a train to London bridge. Went to a pub in tooley street l bought a pint of large a glass of wine plate of onion rings plate of chip's £14.20 in Smithfield a pint of larger a glass of wine £15.60 over priced
N. T.
Great three floored bar and restaurant. Food on the top floor restaurant was fantastic. Amazing fish and steak choices. Views across the city are breathtaking
O. B.
Taking action cue from Smithfield's Market across the road, this Young's bar and restaurant excels in meat and beer. Spread over three or morw, but less than 7 floors, it offers but multiple environments ranging from City bar, to fine dining, to rooftop terrace, by way of a grill. Chow down and quaff, it's good.
W. M. G.
2 at the 3 dishes where good. One the squid very overpowering sauce ,good service
P. B.
This has been one of my favorite London restaurants for several years. Tonight my friend and I had the bone in rib cut for sharing. It was perfectly done.

Top Floor & Terrace
Enjoyed it a lot, dining with a view of the London skyline a plus (didn't matter what the weather was but would definitely like to go again to be on the terrace at night). Slight let down on the desserts though.
M. H.
Good food and very pleasant surroundings but let down by service, could see wrong orders going out and good left waiting to go to customers. Need to slow down.
o. 4.
Very nice spacious bar & the food superb
J. M.
This place is excellent on a Friday night. The dj plays short samples of recognisable songs so you never get bored. Has a good.mix of males and females.
S. M.
Fancy pub food, including a soft shell crab burger. £15-20 per plate
P. M.
This place got my heart with how it looks and how staff behaves. Great experience, nice coffee and delightful breakfast. Gonna visit once again when in London.
C. K.
Excellent service with good food recommendations. Ordered the eggs porky which was simply a fantastic indulgence. Nice and airy ambience with really good waiters.
C. H.
Great steaks - great service - great price - couldn't fault anything apart from a couple of very minor gripes - the bright light coming thru the window as there was no shade to pull so was a little blinded and it was packed so a little noisy to have a decent conversation
P. Z.
Good place to dine. Tasty food, good service and a casual, relaxed space. Always enjoy coming here for its consistency.
W. L.
Been here for a drink on a Friday night. Great spot and lovely atmosphere. Haven't tried the food yet but am determined to check back here soon!
E. C.
I am not a veggie but had the plant based burger and it was AMAZING! Not to crowded and lovely staff.
g.
Amazing in every way. Meals for 10 of us excellent service. Great wine list, Knowledgeable staff
R. S.
We had dinner here on the 2nd floor, and found the room very noisy. My steak was OK (no more). I have had better elsewhere.
P. S.
The food was good if a bit pricey. The downside was the noise. I was on the second floor but the centre opens down to the floor below where a Friday night crowd were drinking.
S. S.
Bustling, friendly place. Decent bar food, nice service and a pretty decent beer selection. Good for groups grabbing a bit of lunch.
C. H.
Can't remember how many stars i gave last time hence the 3 🌟 but just to let you know we're coming back this evening for the steak, chips and Malbec offer as it was fab.
C. C.
Nice setting decor. Lovely meal. They serves Vegan breakfast.
k. g.
Good service. The manager went beyond expectations to please our requests.
J. J.
Brilliant venue and the top floor has great views across London. The food was delicious and the waiting staff were friendly and welcoming.
J. G.
Had a lovely lunch at Smith's. Great service and thoroughly tasty food ! Will definitely return the next time I can
J. B.
The layout was not thought out. Tables strewn here and there. The waiters and waitresses were nice and the food enjoyable
A. B.
Had dinner with work.collegues. food was good , staff so polite, it was such a lovely experience. Will recommend and defo go back
G. P. R.
Huge bar and dining areas over three or more floors. Welcoming and helpful staff. Varied menu and good food in comfortable surroundings.
Y. D.
Nice and filling food. Vege options available. Friendly staff. Atmosphere can be a bit loud and rowdy. Prefer it to be calm and cosy.
L. R.
Visited early in the week around 9pm and it was very quiet. Food was good, if a little overdone. Service was quite slow, but not too bad. Pricing was fairly reasonable
I. B.
4 floors depending on how you're feeling. Despite being one of Greg Wallace's brainchildren (who is mildly irritating, this place has it correct). Good food, well cooked.
J. B.
Love this place, funky atmosphere, good cocktails upstairs and the burgers are ace. Not tried the fancy restaurant on the top floor yet though
M. S.
Excellent food, wine and service. Had a great meal here, in a large group.
J. A.
Shame about the limited selection of wine.
We used to come here quite regularly, after work.
However, a good night to go out to.
R. U. L.
Was seated in the ground floor for Christmas dinner. Quite rowdy and food average. Great location and helpful staff.
W. D.
Good food and service. Had a nice evening out with my daughter. Nice views of the shard and St Pauls from the top floor restaurant.
B. G.
Great place for big groups. The food is ok, service is good. In the ground floor can be really loud and a little bit slow, be prepared for it.
J. W.
Nicer upstairs for cocktails and seating... bit rowdy downstairs. Good solid breakfasts. Gets morning sunshine if you can get a table.
E. H.
Great food! Fantastic full English breakfast! Can have a beer with you breakfast! Best hangover vaccine in central!
R. A.
solid curly sausage. beans need salt.
L. S.
Food came out 90 minutes later than expected... However vegetarian food was delicious! Waiters and waitresses very attentive.
R. G.
Went here for breakfast and had a decent full English meal. Wouldnt say it was worth the price (£12) but enjoyable nonetheless.
D. S.
Lovely top floor restaurant. Catered for my wife's lactose intolerance.
D. Q.
Great bar with a great atmosphere. Good choice of drinks with a small but well done cocktail menu and a very wide choice of spirits
F. P.
Went there for an after-work drink. Nice space and selection of drinks. Would definitely go back to explore more.
C. Z.
Great place for drinks and dinner. We tend to start with a drink at the ground floor, then go upstairs have dinner and then go back to the ground floor for drinks and dancing.
S. G.
Best English food I have ever had. Great location and view on the St. Paul. Will come back for sure.
L. H.
Great food and really nice restaurant. Service was flexible and attentive. All in all a great meal
M. B.
Spaceous area for dining and cleanest loos I've seen in London. I only had the standard English breakfast and it was all good.
G.
Incredible roof terrace with views of London and plenty of heaters - highly recommend!
J. M.
To much drama between the employees.
A. S.
Lovley selection of food and drinks on each floor. The rooftop terrace is great place to have some drinks.
P. S.
Nice decor and service. Excellent place for quality steak or a burger. The fish is also very very good.
W.
Dinner with a amazing view over London.
We could not fault it 🙂
a. w.
Steaks are great but they should be being opposite Smithfield market. Open, warehouse type atmosphere.
Lots of craft beer. Quite expensive
S. T.
Roof top space and great venue for an event, extremely different vibe to downstairs, which is more, craft beer warehouse. Food and drink were good
T. F.
Great brunch. All day Breakfast is spot on. Not the cheapest, but always decent quality.
S. K. (.
This three stories restaurant bar was very nice and spacious. Good food and drinks. It was a good evening out.
M. C.
Amazing atmosphere and view at the top floor , really good food and good service!
N. A.
Generally breakfast service is fine but by 11am, orange juice had run out and a waitress tried to take my food off me whilst I was still eating it.
m. s.
The music is not the best, but it's a nice place to have a dance and a couple of drinks. They also do happy hour until 8pm.
U. 7.
Stylish restaurant with great menu. Was impressed with the set lunch menu, lots of choice and good cooking
A. N.
Had their cheese burger. Was yum. Good for team lunches - 2nd floor. Ground floor more informal.
S. N.
Managed to get a table straight away which was good. Food was really nice and service was great, would definitely recommend.
C. B.
A little busy, and some unusual menu choices (fish in mac'n'cheese?) but tasty food and coped well with quite a big group.
G. G.
good steaks and nice wine list, it's not the besta place i've been in london, but the vibrant bar downstairs suggests to go up for a steak after many wine glasses.
J. C.
Venue this size really needs some more local craft beer options. Music was too loud to watch the rugby the other night.
K. K.
The food is good quality and perfectly cooked. The steak i had was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and very tasty.
E. R.
Bar quite empty but service very slow and pumps out of order. Things improved once we went upstairs to the restaurant.
S. S.
Very good stuffed and good food and good service. Loved it
m. h.
As always, an enjoyable evening. However, there was a large group at the back of the restaurant throwing presents at each other...
J. M.
Second visit, the food was a bit disappointing. Their mushroom burger isn't very good. Drinks and everything else were ok.
J. H.
Nice location, worth booking a table ahead of time if you're going with a large group. Can be a little on the pricy side
G. V.
Very good restaurant with different floors and possibilities of having food.. Exciting view from the top floor!
D. J.
Meat market with overstretched service but they do try their hardest. Nice space filled with desperate office workers sporting thousand yard stares.
M. G.
Fantastic service, we've held our company Christmas breakfast here for 12 years and everything works as it should. Great food and service.
S. W.
Food was good and the setting is great too. Private dining rooms are a great idea for big parties.
D.
Very nice view at the top floor restaurant but food did not meet my probably high expectations.
C. O.
Decent fish and chips and a good spot to watch the rugby. Good place for a brunch or lunch.
P. C.
Not the cheapest but great service and excellent food
J. F.
Spacious dining, T-Bone was delicious, staff knowledgeable and friendly, definitely going back.
J. V.
Good breakfast but the service will leave much to be desired. Large tables available and so can visit in a large group.
J. W.
If you've got a large booking this isn't a bad place to go - but any vegetarians in your party may well have to settle for a fairly predictable 'option', as the location might lead you to expect!
R. D.
Nice place, great food. Maybe I'm not used to London prices but I found it eye wateringly expensive.
