Marvellous venue with great management and staff..... and a chess club every Sunday noon till 4.30pm... Greenwich Peninsula Chess.
J. Y.
Cozy little pub with great music & lovely staff.
Always a nice escape from the crowds during the day.
J. P.
Great atmosphere. The beer was very good, and the fish and chips was tasty - mind you, the fish is quite a big portion.
K. M.
Nice place, service was good but there was a bad smell on entering the pub, smelled like drains of smelly toilet.
M. K.
Best place to have drinks in cutty sark. If you looking to drink at oldest pubs in london this is best place. Staff friendly and ambience is excellent.
L. L.
Local feel pub in the centre of Greenwich. More reasonable prices than the other local pubs and very friendly staff. It's small but has two fireplaces in each part of the pub. Worth a visit if you're looking for a quick drink or pint with a newspaper.
M. S.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and great food. Loved the fireplace. Big and enough place to sit.
A. B.
Lovely friendly staff (including a brilliant resident dog called Lota) and a cosy fire.
C. W.
You can get a good pint and great location off the market.
T. L. (. M.
Proper London pub. Great beer served in proper glasses. Simple cozy decor with a warm welcome.
Couldn't ask for more.
K. A.
Probably a very busy pub at the weekend, but for a midweek drink in the debts of Greenwich, this place was surprisingly quiet.
The staff are friendly and masked their boredom well.
The decor is simple with lots of wood. Basic but clearly chosen for the weekend crowds.
Reasonably priced drinks and an ideal meeting place.
E. H.
I love the traditional club sandwich. Sometimes the kitchen is closed, hope it stays open! It is good and delicious.
J. J.
Reasonably priced pub for one of the wealthier parts of London. Definitely worth a stop by for lunch. They also do proper pies in the northern style so great for tourists who want the true English pie experience! Some great beers available too.
N. M.
Lovely place!
I was there a couple of weeks ago with a couple of friends and we had a good time.
Food is alright, typical pub menu. The best part is that the offer Mahou, one of my favourites Spanish beers.
h.
Now, I do prefer this to most of the other pubs in the centre of Greenwich. It’s more my style. Dark wood. Leather chairs. Lovely.
However, the Spitfire is invariably off. Not sure why, but it’s definitely a thing. Perfectly good option for a pint after visiting Greenwich.
A. H.
Lovely atmosphere and great food. It's difficult these days to find authentic fish and chips. The cod was one of the best I've tasted in a long while. A nice and relaxing place to eat if you're in Greenwich.
P. T.
I always find a warm reception here, the staff are lovely and the beer is well kept, i was part of a party from the old royal naval college this particular evening and the wonderful staff looked after us well!
Always a pleasure to come here, will always recommend the galleon to my friends!!
P. G.
A nautical themed pub that doesn't seem to be CL very cosy nor upscale, but has the decoration of the former and the prices of the latter. Decent size but it's missing something atmosphere wise. There are other pubs from this brewery nearby that are probably more comfortable to spend some time in.
l. l.
I have been to this pub today with my husband and 3 daughter's, the food was late and very average for the price but the staff and stand in manager could not have been more helpful and went out of there eat to sort the situation out, the manager at the moment was just a stand in but he was such a lovely helpful guy and only because if him and the staff that we would give the place another chance in the near future as I know they will be sorting out the food. Thank you again
S. G.
The fish and chips were lovely if a little modest in size, curry sauce a massive disappointment, arrived cold and tasted of nothing. V busy, staff running around like b.a.fs. Good beer, would have been 3.5stars if this allowed.
K. B.
Excellent fish & chips, cozy atmosphere, prices reasonable (especially considering the location). Liked it so much, we went traveled all the way back from Central London to have dinner just a few days later.
T. M.
We visited Greenwich with the grandchildren Monday 20th August. My grandson wanted fish & chips and we saw that they did it there. I have to staff the staff were excellent. They were fantastic with the children engaging with them & went above & beyond when my grandson wanted orange juice that they ran out of. Well done best service i have had in Greenwich or anywhere for a while thank you.
A. C.
Great pub in the winter, especially if you can get a spot by the fire. Food was fairly simple, but really tasty. The music was great if you like your 90s classics.
S. N.
Alright pub. Went for the world cup game. Not particularly busy and only has small screens. We ordered 2 vodka cokes four times over the course of the afternoon and every time got a slightly different price. Only about a pound between the highest and lowest but not really sure how this can change so many times. Toilets are both in awkward corners so wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues as it's quite a walk and not much space to move around.
H. K.
Lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming! Drinks were excellent; speedy and friendly service. I’m from out of town and I felt right at home here. Such a friendly staff!
S. W.
Visited this pub many times. Unfortunately we have had mixed feelings about their "award winning fish and chips". The first time we visited the food was excellent. Unfortunately the second time we visited the food was little to be desired. There is a poor selection of ciders, they had ran out when we visited. I would suggest going to the nearby gypsy moth instead.
G. F.
We were brought here for dinner with our Expat Explore group, and we thorough enjoyed having a nice British meal. The fish and chips were good and the beer was excellent!
H. W.
Really nice ambience and good selection of drinks. Mulled wine lovely. Quite pricey though compared to other Greenwich pubs
A. N.
Nice real pub . Prices on a par for the area i.e. overpriced. Food was disappointing. Went for the boasted fish and chips - was small portion . Fish was frozen and the batter was oozing cooking oil. Decent choice of ales . Would not go back .
K. R.
Went in the day, a real nice pub with a cosy, friendly atmosphere, a good range of drinks, and a great location near the market and the Cutty Sark. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
S. N.
Very reasonably priced for Greenwich. Dog-friendly, has a fire and in the evenings sometimes has candles on the tables and nice music, eg jazz
O. G.
Looking for somewhere to start or end your experience of Greenwich? Then choose Spanish Galleon. I booked the lovely conservatory for a few friends and I and we had a great time. The food was good too.
N. J.
only stopped for beer as a curry was on the agenda for the evening. Plumped for an ale or three; turned out to be pretty tasty! Quiet place, but it was on a Wednesday evening, but it was clean and friendly.
A. K.
Popped in here as first time I'd been in Greenwich and had a some rose wine. Wine recommended and the place had a lovely cosy feel to it. Didn't feel like it was in London very quiet and peaceful
R. M.
Well known for its fish and chips Good food and some real ales like Spitfire It's a traditional pub owned by Shepherd Neame It's on the Market block near the Cutty Dark. Greenwich prices but worth it.
D. P.
Its a pub, its a chippy, it serves beef & mustard sarnies!!!... I honestly haven't a clue what theme they're going for but if you like thinking you're in Grimsby or Matlock Bath whilst having the advantage of being a short boat ride from seeing Little Mix playing at the O2 then give it a go!!! The food aint bad!
E. B.
Great fish and chip, very tasty would order again. Nice portion. Very cosy inside, log fire adds a special touch. Lovely environment. Highly recommend :).
C. D.
Pleasant pub, with an impressive wood interior & many Shepherd Neame Brewery artifacts. As good as you'll get in the eye of the Greenwich tourist storm.
T. v. D.
Friendly staff, amazing food but a little expensive
M. W.
Nice pub, smallish selection of beers, couldn't have lunch as they had a large party in and 45 mins wait. Friendly and they have a 'chippy' between the bars!
D. J.
Oldest Brewery. Quaint place. Excellent fish and chips. Would love to go back again. Friendly staff. Loved the historic nature of it. Fine Brews.
C. C.
Nice atmosphere; was in at nine on a Saturday night and there was plenty of space. Prices are decent on the beer, too.
P. L.
Decent pub but unfortunately, like a lot of other pubs in London, the number of draft ale taps is low compared to lager and craft ale which is basically a lager/bitter hybrid.
D. E.
Cosy traditional pub. Can get very busy sure to its central location but is not as rowdy and uncomfortable than the nearby wetherspoons and gypsy moth can get. Drinks were reasonably priced. Good service.
A. M.
Nice busy pub, but you can usually get a table. Prices not too bad for London !
U. J.
Alright pub, friendly staff. Dire music selection - wind beneath my wings on a Saturday night? I want a pick me up not to sit and feel like crying into my pint
e. p.
I love the Spanish galleon. My boyfriend lives on isle of dogs so we go here. Nice delightful place. Good beer and food and atomsphere. Friendly staff with a great efficiency. Xxx
D. H.
Occasional inexplicable slow service times when the place looks half empty. But the food is good value, and the atmosphere & interior is lovely. Fish and chips bar, also good.
P. A.
A welcome refuge on a cold day. Sadly no blazing fire, but I can hardly complain. After all, it is only near the beginning of October.
D. S.
Great history and beers from England's oldest brewer Shepherd Name. Fish and chips not bad but could be bigger
P. C.
Traditional Shepherd Neane pub in the centre of Greenwich. It has the usual selection of Shepherd Neane beers. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
J. K.
Great place to have a tea. Or soup ;-)
J. P.
We came last year and I had the fish and chips (had to try it when we came to London) and it was great! It wasn't very busy when we came so our service was very quick and pleasant.
C. W.
Love this pub for a after work drink or meeting friends on a weekend. They have the fires going during the winter months which is always good.
C. G. J.
The staff are nice and the drink/food options are good.
A little too cozy in one of the areas but generally a nice place to sit, drink and eat in.
M. S.
Great place for a drink if you wanna actually chat. There's a lovely real fire too, it's nice and cosy. Recommend!
M. H.
Unexpectedly found a bottle of picpoul on the wine list, which was very nice, served by a really nice barmaid. The other barmaids looked like they were on death row!
F. S.
The pub is nice, the music is nice and not too loud, the barmen are easygoing. The fish and chips was less than average though.
H. G.
Lovely pub, tasty food, nice ale. A perfect stop next to the dlr station on your way to the Queens House.
J. W.
Nice cosy pub! Good selection of drinks. Food choices could be better though!
R. A.
A good pub with sensible priced drinks and food plus it has a real fish and chip counter for eat in or take away during the daytime
E. M.
Good space & atmo, good cask beer, friendly staff, delicious food, such as steak and ale pie with excellent mashed potatoes and a nice side of cabbage/broccoli medley.
P. W.
OK but couldn't have tea as they had run out of milk. Also they had run out of things on the menu but failed to advise until the meal arrived.
L. P.
Very nice place with a lovely staff, the experience was awesome and I have lots of fun with my parents when we went there.
Highly recommended.
k. w.
Spent the afternoon in this lovely pub in Greenwich. The kindness and hospitality of the staff made it a really good trip. Also excellent music!
E. L.
Food was fine, though pub was quite noisy and the waitress was a little bit rude and made no effort in thw communication with her
G. B.
Nice pub with variety of lagers and ales, serving food. Great classic fish and chips.
S. 1.
Really nice old building, great selection of ales. But the chips that came with my meal were definitely re-heated.
A. G.
A lovely clean atmospheric place in central London. I've yet to have food there as there always seems to be a reason why!

What great people behind the bar. A quick visit because I've missed it. Great, if cheesy music! A fun visit!
C. j.
This pub has a really nice atmosphere and the prices are what you'd expect for Greenwich.
C. C.
Decent pub, usually less crowded than the Gypsy Moth, and (unsurprisingly) better than the Admiral Hardy.
B. S.
I haven't tried the take out fish and chips but the nautical themed bar is fun
D. M.

Nice pub, great staff but the smell inside was like drains and toilets on a bad day. Needed a bit of a clean, window sills were bit grubby and so was the floor. While inside a good few customers walked in and walked straight back out.

(Translated) We were hunting for "Fish and chips", but somehow we thought the "Spanish galley" was too priced, so we were satisfied with a pint of Guinness and an orange juice and then we went English.
