Reviews of Spiritland King's Cross
P. A.
As a big fan of sound systems, I was very excited going there, only to find out that the reviews I've read about the place are true : its just a little too loud to actually enjoy it in the context of a bar. The sound is good overall but not that balanced. Still a very nice place.
M. M.
Words are not enough to describe how I loved this bar. Audiophile Soundsystem , jazz vinyls, fine booze and nice location. The staff is extremely friendly. Happy days :)
J. A.
Great vibe. Very friendly staff and we didn't wait long for cocktails even though it was busy. Sound system is next level but was a little loud if you're sitting close. The whisky sour was delicious!
R. G.
Great atmosphere, good coffee and cozy location. Perfect if you wanna work from there for a couple of hours
J. P.
One of the best bars I've been to. The music here is enough to keep me there til I get hungry. They serve a selection of small plate that then sate my appetite and they have alcohol to help wash that all down. The interior is absolutely stunning as well. The bar creates a very warm atmosphere.
C. M.
London needs more places like this. A nice, chilled bar with a vibe that's not too insane and with the music pitched at just the right level. It's not perfect (food, drinks prices) but it's a very welcome addition to my usual places.
R. L.
If I could do two different reviews I would give both five stars and three. Five if I value the wonderful Hifi systems this venue perports, see the photos to see what I mean, as someone who enjoys music so much it was a pleasure to listen to such a magnificent system. But when it comes to the full nine yards it falls short to impress as a pub. But it was enjoyable though.
Y. C.
Love this place! Great small plates, excellent whisky selection and beers and wines and gins and whatever else is your poison. Also nice music and fantastic friendly and helpful service. What can i say? My favourite place in north London!!
C. A.
Its really nice to have this bar around the corner, nice music and great cocktails. They allowed our little doggie as well which gives us a fun story to tell to our friends. “We took her to a cocktail bar😜”
T. C.
I usually don't understand when people say they go to certain pubs, cafes or bars for the music, until I came across Spiritland.
This place has 50s retro atmosphere with some modern twists. I really enjoy its Germanic style wooden structure. The speakers are said to be the highlights, I could really feel the warm and smooth audio texture from it. However it might get a bit too popular to really feel the sounds in weekends.
The coffee bean here is from Assembly from south London so the taste is pretty high standard. It's only the latte art could be improved as well as the brewing skills to form a better experience like the environment offers.
In a word, it's definitely worth to visit for some drinks or caffeine.
K. M.
I was going to say the music having just played a 5 hour Depeche Mode set here, but actually it's a fabulous place to hang out at regardless of what genre you're into, the food is delicious, the wine list on point & everyone who works here is SO LOVELY!
M. R.
A really nice little place amazing for brunch on the weekends. Some of the staff were friendly, others not so much. Manager had said they'd remove something off the bill due to the lack of chorizo however was added still to the bill in the end. Eggs weren't runny either. Would like to retry the place though.
A. Q.
Great music and eclectic and delicious cocktails. A very large menu of reasonable priced drinks, good service and fun atmosphere.
J. G.
Lovely lovely place, I would highly recommend over the other Venues on the main square.
Today I had the salt beef hash from the brunch menu. This was fantastic. It's a good hearty brunch.
Service is great, with tactfully friendly staff. Beer selection is again good, with nothing negative to comment on at all.
The premesis is clean, alongside an open view kitchen that is being very efficiently run
B. M.
Great experience! Enjoyed my lunch but was blown away by the commitment to the HiFi sound system! There was chill jazz on tap during my visit. Awesome vibe.
T. M.
Tries to ape the format of a Tokyo listening bar, with a custom audiophile system; however can't hear the music over the cacophony of the restaurant right slap bang in the middle. The music which is good is played as background ambience so they might as well have a Bose system, totally misses the point
A. N.
Maybe expensive, but is London, great location, good staff, large drink selection, great music, lovely toilets, definitely worth a trip if you nearby.
J. H.
Great sounds. Love the fact they play an iconic LP all the way through at a selected time in the evening. Service is swift and friendly and the food tasty. Great cocktails but no draft beer when I last went. Bottled only. Fab outside space as well in the summer. Love the speakers in the loo!!
P. S.
Spiritland was a strange experience but a good one.
The atmosphere was great with the huge vintage style speakers across one wall and the recording studio at the back. One of the nicest parts of the building was the sound control that stopped the room becoming to loud which I find to be a problem in most restaurants now. I went for breakfast and the drinks we all had were lovely especially the coffee.
However the food itself was varied at best. If it was busy I would understand but it wasn’t so I don’t know why there was so much variation in things like the poached eggs. Which for each guest were completely different mine were solid and one of the guests was almost raw. The quality of the food was very nice. The avocados were perfectly ripe and my smoked salmon was lovely. Although we all commented on how varied the cooking on each dish was we all agreed that the quality was very good
The staff were very nice although they were not the most attentive and my guests did comment on how hard it could be to get hold of them.
I would go again but I feel that Spiritland is more of an evening place.
V. D.
As well as a great venue in the evening it is also cosy and delightful for a coffee in morning or glass of wine late afternoon. Great atmosphere and great music with attentive, relaxed and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be back on a regular basis.
K. P.
Another gem of kings cross - well hidden behind the queues to Dishoom. I would say it’s a unique blend of super modern interiors and the best from the past - analogue music equipment. Music would be a bit too loud if you sitting right next to speakers, but even then it’s a fantastic place.
K. H.
Quite pricey for a limited menu of small portions. Find of my dish was okay, however presentation was on point. The overall style of the restaurant is certainly unique; stylish interior design drawing inspiration from 70s music culture.
T. B.
The food here is amazing! Super cosy and contemporary surroundings.
Great to come with friends or family for a brunch/lunch and a cocktail!
D. S.
If you want to hear ALL of the music, you must visit at least once. I’m not too fussed about the cocktails and food - they’re good - but the sound system is TDF. You might be so absorbed in the listening that you don’t even eat or drink (that was me). I’ll leave the details of the audio system to experts; suffice to say it’s outstanding.
A. D.
I recently found out about this place and it's a great bar. I was there before evening, so it was fairly chilled out. The sound system is epic and they actually have proper decks. Speakers in every toilet as well, which is definitely unusual. I order a Braybrooke, which is for sure one of the smoothest beers I've ever had.
O. D.
The sound system is one of the best you've ever listened and the atmosphere is very warm and relaxing.
Service is excellent and very attentive, even there are lots of young kids working around.
I was surprised because of some low rated reviews on Google maps, complaining about the slow or bad service and management.
This is not true at all!
I was on Saturday afternoon for more than 3 hours ,it was extremely busy, but everything i ordered didn't took more than 5-10 min to be delivered.
B. S.
what a nice design and cool catch line for the business core idea. I did not feel it as a place with a great sound , more like a place with very special sound system and interesting choice of music and menu. The soundproofing is a missing a bit. Well done ! Different indeed. Must see and hear! :)
J. L.
Super cool and eclectic place. Part lounge bar, part DJ store (with mid to high end headphones), part recording studio and part bar/restaurant. You have to come see for yourself to understand it.
Great cocktail list, delicious tapas style dinner, great coffee and nice tunes really round this place out for all occasions. They also have high tables which are set up for people to do a bit of work on their laptops (with power plugs on each table).
Works definitely recommend coming here to check the place out!
v.
Amazing place, amazing music, it is like you are in a different world.
Amazing coffee from Assambly, beautiful cups, amazing atmosphere, food is delicious.
Good wifi.
J. X.
+ great spot for a coffee date
- limited food selection; pricey
A cool spot for coffee nestled in the recent development behind kings cross. Whatever the music, the sound is fab and played at just the right volume and they occasionally have guests of note play a set.
The menu is limited and portions are medium(ish). But people aren’t coming to get stuffed, they’re coming for decent coffee and great ambiance.
H. W.
Very unique place, a bar/pub with audiophile grade sound system that doesn't blast EDM but an eclectic curated playlist of varied music.
Decor is perfect, like someone's home and even the bathrooms have great speakers so you don't miss a note when you need a break.
Highly recommend.
L.
Decent cocktails although the prices are quite high for what they are. Staff are attentive enough but the venue does seem a little pretentious for my liking. Not sure if it’s really my kinda place
M. C.
Great service, drinks and music. Not crazy crowded too!
R. J.
It is a fun place with friendly staff but be warned: they do not serve food at the minute! Website etc is misleading, but no food is available (apart from crisps!)
s. c.
Love the atmosphere of this place, food options cold be improved, I suggest booking as it can get busy and the place isn't huge...
T. l.
Very good music and big speakers. Would recommend you bring someone you don't really want to talk to.
M. S.
We had a table for a Wednesday night, fairly busy and great music. The sound system is excellent, but makes for quite loud conversations, still really good vibe. The tapas-like food is in the pricey side with small portions however everything was really tasty. Great beer options too. Would definitely recommend.
V. I.
It's very difficult to describe with words the experience of this place!
Its an exploration of all your senses especially if you're a person passionate with high end sound systems and good quality of services.
Its a beautiful space very carefully designed and crafted with love for sound and music.
I recommend to anyone who wants to visit this place to make a quick search about the whole concept!
This is not a fast food or an ordinary dining place.
Go,relax, take your time, turn off your mobile phone and enjoy the stunning sound quality, the drinks and the delicious dishes.
I. C.
A great place for fans of music. This place rejoices in old school. Equipment here I would sell my soul for. Tannoy monitors in every toilet cubicle too!
P. H.
Another great afternoon/evening at Spiritland King's Cross. Great tunes, great staff and some nice beer - thanks!
G. D. V.
This place is amazing.
The atmosphere is really soft, the music is perfect.
They can switch to Thom Yorke, to Max Cooper, and this makes amazing vibes.
If you want to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to good music. This is the right place to go.
D. E.
Great cocktails...
Yes, it's loud. But you've been warned. Cocktails are very well put together. We tried about half the menu and enjoyed every one. The venue has a paired down, LA-old-skool vibe. Chic wood panelling and booming speakers, proudly displayed, not contained in housing. The in-house recording studio adds to the theme. Service was also very friendly.
K. I.
Great place for drinks and a bite to eat while being surrounded by the best sound system. Great rotation of events and DJs and the location makes it a great addition to the area which doesn’t have a whole lot of nice cocktail bars. The noise level is optimal as well — not one of those places where you can’t hear yourself think or have a conversation!
D. C.
This place is my one of the few favourite venues in London because it’s perfect venue for my personal needs of entertainment and dining out... They have nice cocktails, contemporary but delicious small plates(broccoli is my favourite), but most importantly very good sound system and selection of music! It’s a place where you can listen to jazzy ambient and downtempo records even on Monday! They have a dj playing every night and the program changes constantly.
It’s just GREAT!

Surprisingly Child Friendly Space
We spent a very enjoyable late afternoon and evening here with some friends and our 2 young children.
Staff were so friendly and relaxed about our 4 year old polishing the tables with wet wipes and so kind to our 7 months old baby boy - the guy on the cocktail station even made him a fruit kebabs from the cocktail garnishes which our son was DELIGHTED with!
Excellent music too- so nice to be able to spend the time in a grown up venue with the babies.
Definitely recommend

Very cool location. The venue has good music, a well stocked bar, a open kitchen where you can sit at the counter. The waitress was really nice and friendly. I came for the London cocktail week, on a packed Saturday night. Informal place, the crowd is lively, 20/30 of age. Drink was nice.
F. A.
A gem. Everything in this place is perfectly thought-of. Drinks are great, and the atmosphere is very eclectic and jolly. The best of all is the music: the sound system and the DJs. Check their website for special one-artist vinyl sessions. Staff always very nice too. It is a bit expensive (330ml beers for 5 quid), but it makes me happy that the proceeds go to supporting such a place.
C. d. C.
Awesome place, doing something s bit bold and different. Live DJs non-stop playing a great selection of vinyl. The sound system is stunning, incredible depth and quality.
The food was top notch, every plate we had was incredible. The service was excellent and there's a real buzz about the place.
J. V.
This is primarily a cocktail bar with a wonderful sound system playing a wide range of music. But if you find yourself in Kings Cross of a morning it’s a pretty good breakfast choice. Friendly staff, perky morning tunes and a great avocado toast and strong coffee. Enjoy.
S. A.
Very mixed feelings! One the one hand, amazing place and soundsystem of course is unreal. On the other, customer service was shaky.
We arrived at 11:30 in time for a drink until closing at 1. We ordered at 11:45, our drinks came at 12 and all the lights were turned on and we were told they’d be closing at 12:30. No problem, but now there’s no chance to enjoy our drinks in the ambience.
It would have been nice to have been given the choice whether to stay or not before ordering. We said as much to one of the waitresses (who were very professional) but then the manager storms over and basically berates us saying that it’s at the managers discretion whether to close early. We weren’t complaining about closing early, just pointing out it that they could have told us they’d close early before taking our order and serving our drinks.
Just having a bad day I guess 🤷♂️

Visited on a friday night at about 8pm, didnt really expect to get a table at this busy time but we were in luck as a table was just emptying.
We were seen to quickly but our drinks took a while. Cocktails were nice but a limited variety of flavours in the selection.
Food is overpriced for what you get and actually not that flavourful. Flat breads were hard and looked like they were pressed on a waffle iron.
Service was ok, hard to catch someone's attention, but very helpful and polite when they noticed. Seemed like they could have used 1 more server. Not just 2 and a manager on the floor.
Music was ok, chilled out and sounded good quality. I understand the hype reviews from the music lovers on here, but it doesn't really make up for the price of a bland meal.
D. C.
Menu is very simple (which is great). Great selection of cocktails. The thing making it special is the sound system. They really love music, they do so much that they have what's probably the best sound system in town. DJs playing very chilled music.
A.
Place is amazing. Sound system is perfect, as you would expect however the customer service goes above and beyond. You can waste your money at other places around Granary Square which in my opinion does not compare, or you could just go to Spiritland. Joshua stopped at nothing to make my daughter's 20th birthday one to remember. On consequent visits the service has been consistently brilliant. A real gem and love coming here. Worth mentioning that the vegan options are second to none! Thank you Spiritland.
M. G. T.
Great place. Cool interior. Nice atmosphere. Do check out their event calendar.
M. O. S. !.
Lovery chilled place I'm King's Cross great longe music very chilled.
R. H.
Great service, good music (and sound system)!
H. M.
Lovely venue. Looks great and created an exciting vibe. Must visit spot for audiogeeks. Tannoy speaker's in the toilets and live studio are amazing.
Would hate to guess how much the audio equipment cost!!!
Service let's this place down. Whilst serving team are lovely and polite. We had to flag them down anytime we needed anything.
But again, it's still a must visit for anyone who values quality sound.
C. H.
It was an interesting venue as you get to hear some interesting venue. However, it is a place to go for socialising with friends as the music is quite loud that it is difficult to hear what other people saying. They even have speakers in each toilet to make sure you do not miss out any music. The food was okay. I managed to find some gluten free options to have. There are not many seating. Reservation is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
H. Y.
We stopped by for drinks and were pleasantly surprised with the menu which had lots of drinks and even quite a few snacks. Service was super friendly and attentive. Would definitely return!
M. E. V.
Amazing place if you are a music lover. Not only the sound system but also the music selection is brilliant.
I just don't give a 5 stars because the bar/restaurant quality could be better and I would love to see it improved at some point.
L. C.
Really liked this place. I'm not a big audiophile, but some friends suggested meeting there in the evening before going onto a party. I was also trying to squeeze in dinner with another friend at about 4pm, who had unexpectedly ended up having to bring his 5 yr old child along. So although we weren't sure on the kid policy, we decided to meet there anyway and see how it went. The staff were absolutely fantastic with my friend's child (even though it wasn't a typical location for kids, and the child was getting really tired), they engaged with him in a way that was really unexpected and lovely.
The staff in general were great, very polished service - the table service was a real pleasure (so nice to order drinks and not have to queue at a bar). Speaking of drinks, I mostly sampled from the small but perfectly formed cocktails list. All were extremely well thought out and mixed perfectly, none of this overly sweet not very interesting cocktails which can be found everywhere else.
The music was pitched at just the right level. It is a music venue after all, as well as a bar and restaurant, and the clarity to the system meant you could hold conversations without shouting, but still hear the music in the way it was intended.
I could wax lyrical about the place all day. Just fantastic all round. I don't often end up in this area of Kings Cross, but I'll be going out of my way to visit again.
V. L.
Lovely coffee (I had a flat white). Very cool retro interior. Lovely jazz and r&b music in the background. Food is nice, normal price in London. Very easy to travel to, good resting spot near kings cross. Likely to come again :)
A. P.
I’ve been here for brunch a couple of times and have really enjoyed the impeccable vibe. The music and space are awesome and keep me coming back. However, food-wise, things are limited if you’re vegetarian or vegan. There are one or two things you can eat but generally everything on the menu includes meat by default, with whole sections of the menu only having meat options. The items that are vegetarian are fairly typical (avocado toast, eggs and soldiers), so the experience loses points for lack of culinary excitement.
E. s.
An intriguing place - it is nicely appointed and the waiters were very attentive but they appeared to have a DJ playing lift music, very strange. Maybe it comes alive in the evening but certainly a nice place to get a drink none the less
D. H.
Love this place. It's a massive pleasure to hear such a great soundsystem in the flesh. Songs that I've known and loved for years are taken to another level, and are spine-tinglingly good on the beautiful speakers. I also discovered a lot of new gems. On my first visit there was a great mix of people, all clearly loving the sound.
The food, drink and service are also very good. Prices for food are in line with what you can expect from a trendy, smartly decorated place like this, and personally I'm happy to pay a bit of premium for a unique experience. Took me back to my experiences in music cafes in Tokyo!
N. T.
Can't believe this place exists. Gratitude that it does but bittersweet cos now I've got a baby and can't just prop up the bar nightly. Spiritland where the hell were you in my young and free days?
Love everything about this place - the sound of course but also the vibe and the food and the coffee. Salt beef butty a highlight but the fancier night food great too and not too expensive.
Seems to attract people who are happy to chat to each other and nerd out a bit about the speakers. A cool bar that isn't at all wanky. And when I took my kid there during the day with other friends with kids, there was no problem - staff were chill and helpful.
Oh Spiritland how I love thee.
With a pinch of resentment that you weren't around when I was 21.
C. H.
Tasty food and we've always liked the bar here but surprised recently when we were asked to pay the bill before finishing our food. When we asked why, our waitress said they'd had issues of people leaving without paying. This is fair enough, so long as explained, so we paid and finished our meal. Our waitress then told us that the manager charges the staff for food if not paid for - it comes out of their wages! Sorry, but that's shocking treatment of staff in my book. Won't be back if that's the way Spiritland's manager treats his team.
L. d. C.
Came here for dinner on a Friday eve. Delicious, reasonably priced tapas-style food. Every plate I would try again. The staff are wonderful, we had a fabulous time talking to the host. And that's not even getting started on the music! A definite must-try. We can't wait to come back!
M. P.
New favourite! Doesn’t get better than this people!
Great drinks, simple fairly priced menu and top sound-system. If only I could give this place 6 stars.
J. B.
Very nice and creative cocktails, and very cool vibe about the place. Good sound system, but... acoustics a bit off. Odd for a place that's USP is it's sound system. Recommend they panel the ceiling. They do have a Roland Space Echo! Don't know if any dub master has ever used it.
P. F.
Perfect bar if you're looking for a cosy setting.
G. L.
More contrived, neat and ordered than I had hoped but still nicely done. Focusing on music, the sound system looks great but wasn't doing anything spectacular while we were there, even with the live DJ playing. Perhaps a few more visits at different times to see how sincere the music focus is. While hoping for something a bit more hipster I would still go back to explore more. Snacks and beer nice enough.
D. V.
I love music and love to listen to great music. I was scared of not getting a place so I phoned ahead to try and make a reservation. They don't have a reservation system but were more than happy to keep me a place. And boy was it worth it. I walked in an immediately fell inlove.
The music is crisp clear and even sitting right next to the speakers it was never over bearing it was just right. I could spend hours here and did.
Can't recommend it enough and will definitely come whenever I'm in London.
M. T.
Nice food, friendly staff. Happily return. It looks like it would be fun in the evenings too!
J. “. L.
The ambience, mixture of patrons, and set-up for laptops is first class. Really cannot be beat! In my opinion, Spiritland of King's Cross is one of the finest DJ bars in the world and effuses the cool of London's earlier clubbing scene. Edgy joy. The same cannot be said about its sister-branch in Royal Festival Hall, unfortunately.
J. N.
Great place to come eat, work and chill. Power points for phones and computers. Great music with large retro speakers. Food is top notch. Space is also shared with two recording studios. All in all a great stop if you're around Granary Square in Kings Cross.
D. M.
Music is good, excellent sound system.
However, the customer experience was lacking in a few regards that could be improved.
1. They do not list all the drinks they sell with prices, the menu says "ask" about "classics". This is in contravention of the licencing act, as well as being annoying in that you end up having to ask and then hope they know how to make the thing.
2. If you are with a group and go outside to smoke/use the phone, a member of staff will probably repeatedly check up on you in a super unsubtle manner to ensure you aren't bailing on your friends/tab. Really makes you feel unwelcome. A far better option if you are having customers open a tab is to take a payment card off one of them and keep it behind the bar until they go to settle the bill.
3. Really mixed results with some cocktails. Some were amazing, some were sub par. It was obvious that the guy wasn't sure how to make some cocktails properly.
I'll inevitably end up going back, given the excellent sound system. If they make some other improvements I'd probably spend a lot of time and money here.
C. B.
It’s fine. Contrary to prior reviews I found the staff quite friendly and warm. I came for the music system though as that’s why I’ve heard of it. At 7pm it’s just background noise. It’s an ordinary bar. Sure it is good but nothing exceptional. 🤷♂️
j.
Tried to find a place to get some work done, and popped in here around lunch time. Many charging points if you need it. Very kind staff and relaxed atmosphere with fast WiFi and no overbearing music. Coffee is very good too!
A. B.
Nice place, decent sound that isn't on too loud (this is around lunch time) and the staff are super friendly. The prices however, kind of take the piss.
Yes, this is right next to kings cross, so you have to expect a bit more cost, but this is like some shoreditch hipster place that is double the cost.
Go for the experience, but don't be surprised at the bill.
N. C.
Love the vibes here. Great place for some drinks.
D. R.
A few years ago this was the only bar in the area, so I’d come here. But now it’s not the case anymore and I believe there are other, better bars around. Cocktails are a tad too elaborated (or the opposite?) and music is way too loud to have a conversation.
X. F.
I definitely want to go back here. The sound system is incredible and they've clearly put time and thought into the look and feel of the place. Great for people who love listening to music in a relaxing environment, plus the food is delicious and the drinks are great.
I. J.
Love this venue. Great music (from a conversation-starting sound system), healthy bistro food options from a simple but well-formed menu, and a solid wine list and cocktail options.
E. H.
Great place. Would definitely visit again.
B. B. (. P. R.
Very pleasant brunch. Good food / coffee and friendly efficient service. Sound system brings a nice laid back atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
H. H.
Always chilled and friendly. I like the food, the drink, the people. Nice place to spend Saturday afternoon
M. R.
Really, really good. Don't think one needs to be an audiophile to realise just how high the quality of the sound at this place is - can't get that on any retail speakers, so would recommend Spiritland just for the sound experience. Great DJ. Great tea + cheesecake.
D. C.
Really cool bar with nice food and drink. It's a little expensive but having the sound system there is worth it. Service was very friendly and quick and there was plenty of cool stuff to look at.
Y. E.
Love the design and ambiance of this space. Big sound system speakers took me back. Even got a recording studio! Only drank tea on this occasion but I will go back for food.
B. R.
Bit confused by the table service hat left one of us paying a massive bill. Would love to be able to just come up and pay for the odd drink separately. Otherwise had fun in a great atmosphere and enjoyed the food too.
C. F.
Good brunch. Loved the sound system 🙀😍😍
M. C.
Not a big fan of fancy cocktail bars but this was extremely well done and yet not too pretentious. And the staff are really really good. Location is obviously brilliant.
R. S.
To me, this hits all the right notes: slick decor, warm service, scrummy food and yes, the sound system is as good as everyone says it is. I went twice: once late in the morning to get work done (music wasn't blaring and the coffee is legit) and once in the evening with my brother for old fashioned's and a bite. Nothing else quite like this in the city. Highly recommended.
S. L.
Spiritland has long been my favorite venue , both Kings and Southbank. Fabulous locations, unusual and really tasty perfectly cooked food , great selection of drinks, the atmosphere homely, yet relaxing and exciting - we like the breakfasts especially - absolutely fabulous visit as always, Spiritland never ever disappoints, ever. Til next time !
M. M.
Sound perfection & tasteful music choice to background your meals with non-stop djs & sweet service 🍳🥓🥞🍔🍲🍹🍸🍽Come back: ✅

Dropped in for a quick drink with 3 friends after hearing about this place. Returned 3 times in the next 24 hours. Amazing sound, great choice of music (thanks for introducing me to Matthew Halsall), and knowledgeable, pleasant staff. Right on the button!
C. H.
looks great and they have some fantastic DJs on. unfortunately we went on a Friday early evening and hadn't booked so couldn't get in for a drink. will cone back when it's quieter.
I.
The sound system really is perfection. On top of that, the food is great. Why queue for Dishoom in the freezing cold when you could be bathing in beautiful music next door? (Ok, the black daal, I know)
D. C.
A relaxed bar with a GREAT sound system. I'm not much of an audio geek but my professional musician mates were really impressed with the kit.
S. S. B.
So cool it even has speakers in the toilets so you don't miss the DJ's choons. Quite pricey tho given the portion sizes and a slightly bizarre menu, though the roast potatoes in a spicy sauce are rather good.
C. P.
Got love somewhere where the speakers cost more than next door pays in rent. Fantastic serene spot for audiophiles. With lovely food and drink.
G. B.
Very good tapas-sized "small plates" are particularly strong on veggie and vegan options. Nice selection of cocktails, wines and spirits too.

It was a pilgrimage for me, I had been trying to find an excuse to visit Spiritland after reading about it well over a year ago.
I've been three or four times now, at different times of the day, different days of the week, admittedly not for any of the special events of an evening yet.
The Kuzma turntable and custom-made Living Voice speakers are indeed sights to behold. Just sights though, it's unlikely you'll actually hear them, thanks to the media-types from any of the many local, well-known media agencies talking loudly about themselves to each other.
We have just left, at circa 1945hrs on a Tuesday (6 Feb 2018) we were squashed so close to people either side (it wasn't busy) that getting on the Thameslink train home was a relief.
The sound was better in the bathroom than the actual venue because at least when in the bathroom you aren't hemmed in by the 20-somethings keener to talk about their latest Tinder success than acknowledge they're in 'a listening cafe'.
It's a great idea, it just doesn't work yet. Judging by the number of reviews left right here complaining about the music being too loud for talking, London doesn't deserve it.
Most annoying today though, was the maitre d' or whatever he is. He had no interest in engaging this evening, bordering on rude, completely forgetting that the last time I was there I corrected HIS PERSONAL MISTAKE on the bill, he'd missed off £28 worth of drinks. Stupidly, my autistic analyst maths pride made me point this out, ensuring I paid the right sum. I have to do this when it happens.
There was no acknowledgement of this at the time, or on any subsequent visit, no surprise it didn't happen today. It just added to the disappointment.
I had Madame with me for the first time today too, she pointed out how uncomfortable it was to be so stupidly close to people, when the place was just not busy.
Also she said how she had heard the couple to the right say 'CAN THIS MUSIC NOT JUST STOP?'.
A great idea, to say the least. Some teething trouble, I suspect London is not quite ready for it yet, but do go, let's get it working.
Use it, or lose it London.
D. E.
Great audio quality, allows you to speak normally even when sitting next to the speakers
L. C.
Only went there for a couple of drink but the atmosphere is nice. Drinks in between €9-£14. They have a live dj in house. Good place to chill around King cross area
C. M.
Great venue with amazing music played on incredible equipment. Food is good and nice relaxed atmosphere. (ooh and I forgot to say, dog friendly!)
D. R.
Excellent sound system – even if the music we endured was a bland, middle-of-the-road selection – and decent drinks make this a nice (non-dancing) space in which to socialise. The food is no better than okay though and is ridiculously overpriced. If you want to eat you're better off going to Dishoom a few doors along.
A. C.
Nice local place for coffee or a meal. Loved the bespoke sound system and recording studios available for hire - must get me a podcast to record!,🤣
R. S.
Fantastic experience all over. Great atmosphere. Above all the sound and music are outstanding. The food is stunning and a good selection of drinks. Highly recommended.
R. W.
Very nice bar, good service. Would be nice to have more choice than 125ml of wine. Music was great.
F. P.
Really nice place with good music and tasty food!
J. W.
Very crowded. Not much space between tables. Music choice was not to my liking. Food was okay-ish, not fantastic. Good if you like vinyl music ole skool style.
j. b.
An imposing state-of-the-art stereo system being the raison d'etre and commanding centre stage here.
Guest DJ's, limited menu and drinks in a contemporary setting but the sound continuum and dynamic is decisively dependant on the levels of background activity/noise.
Consequently the musical experience may vary from the revelatory to the unremarkably forgettable.
A. C. C.
Bar with bespoke high fidelity speakers is the main draw. Listening booths also available. Chill place to hangout and listen to different nightly acts ranging from electro to jazz with minimal distortion.
D. L.
Spiirtland. What can I say. If you ever wanted to stand face to face with the most impressive hi-fi system you probably seen then this is the place. It doesn't end there, oh no. Good well-crafted thoughtful food that appeals to all diets, good drinks, attentive staff and management and is open all day. House and guest dj's abound and you can be immersed in whatever the sound du jour is and sit back and enjoy. Spiritland. The only place on earth that has Tannoy studio monitors in every toilet. Outstanding.
T. K.
I’m local to it so I quite like to get a drink
Always great music but you may not be lucky to get a seat it gets busy
G. O.
Nice vibe. One of the best sounding audiophile systems in London. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Cool hang out joint.
M. A.
Spiritland is a lively coffee shop, and very much enjoyed the pop atmosphere and interior. The price was fair and reasonable for the quality and location of the place.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience
S. B.
Amazing sounds system, good tunes. Good beers and food. A refreshing change from the normal bar vibe, a must go for all audiophiles!
S. L.
The chicken sandwich I had here was nice, didn't like the roasted potatoes though. Took quite a while to get the bill and the music does get to you after a while.
S. D. C.
A unique offering of gorgeous audio and hand picked tracks delivered in a cafe-restaurant setting. Go here for the music supported by very decent food and hospitality.
P. D.
A friend brought me here because apparently they have an amazing sound system. Really enjoyed the music, vibe and cocktails.
C. M.
Really cool place! Only downside is that it was a bit pricey on the food, but really good and tasty so didn't mind. Very friendly staff. Will go again!
l.
Friendly and helpful staff happy to put up with 2 babies and 2 big prams at brunch. Avocado toast was very yummy
R. A.
Lovely spot for a drink, good music and good vibes, reccomend
r. h.
Impeccable sound system backed up with great drinks and a solid menu. Used to dread having to meet people in this part of town due to the dearth of options, now it's top of my list.
H. F.
Good tunes (they make a big thing out of their music) and cocktails, fun vibe and lights got turned down 930pm ish. Great location.
R. H.
Great food, expert choice of music (quiet enough for conversation to take place), good service, try the salt beef on pretzel. A masterpiece.
H. K.
Even if it wasn't for the incredible and unique soundsystem, this would be a great place to go to for a coffee or some tapas-like food. But mainly a must-see/-hear for audiophiles.
D. N.
Best roasted potatoes I had.
J.
The pizza slice was really nice, freshly baked and tasty. I would definitely go here again.
J. T.
Nice bar with a relax environment. Good selection of music. The beverage options were good and service too
A.
Great vibe, dimly lit tipsy feel, and a sound system that belongs in a museum and makes you want to learn about sound. Highly recommended!
T. M.
Unique bar with a state of the art sound system. Somewhat upscale feel. Great for anyone seriously into their music.
H.
Spot is great for drinks and vibes.
Not as great food. The menu is ambitious but hit or miss.
J. H.
Love it here, staff are friendly but not overly attentive so very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent ice tea.
L. T.
Very good music and pleasant interior. Food is a bit 'ordinary' though, usual avocados on toast, etc.- nothing new.
G. R.
Great lunchtime food. Great sound system. Cooler than though, lacklustre service though unfortunately.
M. G.
Amazing! Really good cocktails and great value. Good music and outstanding setting/sound
R. C.
Interesting place. Good sound system, good coffee. May go back for some more serious drinks soon.
K. K.
Excellent breakfast. Sourdough bread, perfectly poached eggs, nicely cooked bacon. Absolutely gorgeous.
I. W.
The music is amazing, the IPA was lovely, the tiramisu hit the spot, and best of all, my dog was warmly welcomed.
A. M.
Good food. But quite loud so not an intimate Vibe if you're going for that. Quite trendy.
D. D.
Went here for weekend brunch. Cool atmosphere and nice music, great service and delicious avocado toast.
T. B.

A. G.
Nice selection of cocktails which are all good. Staff very pleasant and helpful
R. S. d. U.
Fantastic location and music — a bit disappointed by the food which is way overpriced for what it is. Recommended more for drinks than for brunch
J. W.
Great vibe, good music, okay service. Better for drinks, not a huge food menu.
M. M.
Great venue, great music, insanely good sound system. Stupidly, uncomfortably, loud volume, made worse in the toilets with speakers firing straight at you.
N. M.
Music is great, place is beautiful. Its a shame the food don't match the standing of the rest.
P. A.

(Translated) I went with my friends on Friday evening.
Man DJ's jazz play and mixing were ignored.
It's not a jazz fan either, but the setting of the sound system has become so fascinating that it is fascinated by the rhythm and the music it first hears.
So the next day
Recommended because gin-tonic is pretty neat!
