Saturday night here with my wife for a meal out after so long. Came here for the first time last weekend for a drink and check it out. Staff were all very friendly and showed us to our table with an amazing view across the fields. Good food selection and reasonably priced. It was all very tasty, lovely atmosphere and the staff were about when we needed. Would recommend and we will return.

We use the Thatcher’s on a fairly regular basis, today we had a party of 12 sit down for a meal. We were not disappointed, the food was fantastic as always, the service was impeccable. Despite the large party we all ate at the same time, nothing was too much trouble. I had to book well in advance and the communication from them was good from start to finish. I’d like to thank again all the staff involved for making my wife’s birthday a memorable one for all the right reasons. Needless to say I highly recommend The Thatcher’s

Visited after a long walk in Mount Bures with some friends and had an amazing Sunday lunch. I can wholeheartedly recommend the roasts, and we had a delicious soup to start. Staff were friendly and the ambience was warm and welcoming. If you're in the area, it really can't be beaten and we'll definitely be visiting again!

I Visited here this evening with my parents and the service from all the staff was immaculate. The service we received on arrival was exceptional all the way through to the end of the evening when leaving. The food on the main course was amazing albeit we only had a main course each. The next time I visit I will be sure to have a dessert as they certainly looked divine. I would highly recommend The Thatchers Arms if anyone is looking for fine dining. Thank you to all the staff for their exceptional service.

An amazing impromptu dinner out with two children. We hadn't booked and we turned up at 7pm, so no expectations! All staff were accommodating, welcoming and friendly. We were served by an extremely polite and pleasant young man whose name (i think) was Thomas. He was wonderful with the boys (9 and 7 years old), congratulating them on their table manners and joking with them. He also knew a lot about the area, and was willing to stay and chat with us, even though he was clearly and increasingly busy. The staff clearly enjoyed working there, and we felt very welcome. Our starters (scallops, mackerel, scotch egg) arrived together and very quickly. All were very good, and no complaints from the boys! Mains were all good too (kids burger, steak and ale pie, sea bass and kids veg lasagne). Steak and ale gravy could have been a little more flavourful but that is really my only complaint. The lads had the brownie for dessert and both were so happy and full when they left. Thanks for having us. We would definitely recommend.

We walked in to a lovely greeting from all the staff. They went out of their way to accommodate us with a table as we hadn't booked. We had a lovely meal with the best view over the valley of Suffolk/Essex. Would recommend a visit, but you may have to book as getting very popular.

It has been a while since we have been to this pub/restaurant but we will be returning soon. It has had a face-lift and looks amazing. The staff who have this place now are so welcoming and polite and the food was right on point. The location has always been super on a sunny day but the whole thing has now truly come together!

Popped in during a cycle for a lunch. Staff were friendly and stated there may be delays due to staff shortages. However, food was ordered and arrived promptly and was excellent. Beautiful setting and amazing views over the countryside. Can be very windy though if you are outside as it's high up !! It's very clean and comfortable inside and has been refurbished to a high standard . Food and service good although on our visit last night I did feel portion sizes had reduced and not as good value as previous visits.

Really loved our visit to the Thatchers Arms. It's in such a picturesque setting with rolling green hills. We were greeted so nicely and were told about the new guidelines which was great to know. All the staff who waited on us were so professional, attentive and friendly. The food and drinks were of a high standard and excellent quality. To cap off the visit I phoned in advance to see if they were dog friendly and they were. They had treats for our Lily and also bought a water bowl out for her. This really made me happy. Thanks guys for a fabulous visit.

Great location with wide views over the Stour Valley. There is s lot of room inside as well which makes for well spaced dining. Had a sandwich lunch on the patio which makes the most of the position. Beer was good, menu seemed a bit limited, especially on the sandwiches, but then a lot of pubs are offering reduced menus at the moment. Food on the menu seemed a little more gastro than pub in style, but then the sandwiches arrived made with standard sliced bread which was slightly disappointing, hence the four stars. Haven't tried any other menu options so review is just based on that experience.

Brewer's gold on tap is an auto 4 star for me but personally think if you're paying ~£14 for a burger you should get more than 7 chips. Food was great quality and because of the help to eat out scheme I wasn't too miffed about the chip quantity. Very polite and helpful staff and a beautiful view out the back of the garden

Lovely dinner, good food and good service. Great choice of alcohol free drinks including Heineken 0.0% and Ghostship AF too. Lovely in the summer when you can sit outside with a picnic box and blanket but also lovely in the winter. Particularly enjoy the cost atmosphere of the dining room and the comfy armchairs by the stove. Good for a celebration meal or a date night, really well worth somebody driving over to give it a go.

Went to a wedding recently. The pub itself is was nice. The layout of the wedding was good, food was on par for pub food. Service was a little slow. The worst part was as the extension of the restaurant was a tent not a problem but the weather turned cold and there was no heating we were all frozen. Which is not a pleasant experience. Please in future place heaters in the tent.

Just had a meal at the Thatchers Arms, I had the Sri Lanken curry which was very nice, some sort of bread to dip in the curry would have been nice, however my husband had a ploughmans which was very disappointing, all pickle and no substance, 2 small pieces of cheese and a 2 inch thin sliver of ham, a few small sticks of celery, loads of baby onions and gerkins and a home made pickle. I know things have been difficult for restaurants but we wont be rushing back any time soon, such a shame as it's right on our doorstep.

Visited this nice country pub after finding it on the Internet having come for a two night stay in Colchester. Lovely food, the Thai red chicken curry was excellent. Other members of our party had the homemade burgers, everyone enjoyed their food. The pub also makes their own bread, which was spot on with olive oil and balsamic dips.
