My friend & I were having a lovely time catching up until the sports was switched on at FULL VOLUME, forcing us out into the beer garden to continue our conversation - fortunately there were heat lamps. Shame though, otherwise would have given 5*

S. M.Stopped by for a quick pint whilst exploring the area with a mate. Was by far the chirpiest pub around on a Thursday night. The atmosphere was great with a weekly live folk band playing a tune every few minutes. Pints were reasonably priced and the lighting was well done with candles on every table and the bar. Only giving four stars as it is listed as a gastro-pub however the menu wasn't very enticing - although I plan on taking advantage of their 2 for 1 pizza deals on the first three nights of the week!
j. y.This bar is something to be hold. I’ve been in London 10 years and I’m not sure how I’ve missed this wonderful pub. Bags and bags of character, the staff as well as the pub it’s self. Littered with old movie posters and trinkets you’d be forgiven for not chatting and just starting at the walls and laughing. Football was on and it’s perfectly set up for it and if that doesn’t bother you then the other side of the bar is perfect for you can hide from it. Good selection of beers and well priced.
I wish this was my local.

The Alma has personality by the bucket load.
They allow dogs (always a good sign) the beer is cold, served well by attentive staff. Food simple, tasty and priced well.
The decor and ambiance is on point, and a welcome relief from so many generic pubs in the area.
Top that off with a lovely beer garden and great music - what more could you want?
Really happy this can be my new local.

F. D.Great place and atmosphere. If you love films, this is the right place for you. The decoration is so cool, especially the gents' toilet! The secret garden is also really nice, especially when it's sunny. One of my favourite pubs in the area. However, I would avoid coming when there's s football match if you don't like football.

The staff were so kind and patient with our huge group booking, even after such a long day for them all! The pub has such a cosy warm atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. A special thank you to the lovely manager Wesley who went above and beyond for us. This pace is a real gem <3

D. M.It's good. I'm just not sure it's "Time out's London's pup of the year" good. If you need a cheap meal and live local they have a 2-for-1 pizza deal on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Beer selection is slightly limited, but I do really enjoy the quirky interior.

M. F.Recently went to the Alma for dinner with friends and what a nice surprise it's amazing. The decor is fantastic from classic posters to life size Superman Spider-Man and Wonder Woman then I spotted Jaws on the back of the bar it's just wonderful. The beer/wine selection would keep anybody happy they even have a gluten free beer!!!! Then the food arrived served by a very professional and friendly manager, the food was piping hot and delicious I had sausage and mash which was the best I've had in a very long time. Also dog friendly. Well done guys I'll be spending a lot more time here. Cheers!
R. G.Wow! Just wow! We had actually given up on this local after the previous management had really let it go... We had heard on the grapevine it was under new management and throught we would try it again. Being pub regulars I can tell you now this is on the way to be one of London's finest. I ordered a Jerk chicken burger with one of their local craft beers while watching a great film! All in a pub! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere completely relaxed. A big thumbs up to the new management - We have already booked for a party of 20 and can't wait to go back! Thanks guys.

We only moved on after one because we'd promised ourselves a pub crawl, otherwise we would have been very content to stay longer.

The pub is really child/family friendly and offers various themed evenings..
The thing i enjoy most about visiting The Alma is getting lost in looking at all the movie images and reminiscing about films old and new :-)
L. O.Local boozer in a lovely area chock full of film memorabilia. Where else can you go to the loo surrounded by pictures of Danny Devito? Decent beer selection. We had the veggie roast - roasties and all the trimmings were excellent. Vegetable Wellington dissapointed though. Cute back yard for sunny beers. Quiz on a Sunday evening.
P. D.The pub is pleasantly themed; has a good atmosphere; staff are friendly and the food is reasonable value (just) for the area. However, I found it too dark, and tables far too packed together, to be heartily recommended for dinner. Tempranillo was OK for £6.75, but the Krusovice lager was tepid, so less enjoyable.

S. M.This cosy, interesting pub is a real gem in a largely residential part of Islington. The movie theme is charming, if a little overdone in places (part of aforementioned charm), and you can spend a long time just looking at the walls everywhere. The atmosphere is good, candles are used as the main source of light in the evenings which is lovely and cosy, and a range of live events are put on. Drinks are typical London pricey, nothing unexpected, but the coffee is above average.
S. B.Smallish quirky pub with lots of film memorabilia. The Danny DeVito ladies toilet is a favoirite! The not so secret garden garden has outdoor heaters and tables for groups. You can eat here and theres plenty of vegan friendly dishes.

M. B.We arrived at the Alma hungry and thirsty quite late on a Sunday evening. Thankfully the kitchen was still open. We ordered drinks, roast lamb and the jerk chicken burger. We left completely full and satisfied . Friendly staff, great food. Happy customers. Job done !
