Unexpected find! Have lived in the area for 10 years and didn't know this was here. Large beer selection... and you can order in steins! Pretty typical food selection with pub classics and some other bits and bobs. Menu isn't huge, so might be worth checking that it has something you want on it before you go. We had the cheese plate, was delicious. We'll be back!

I cannot rate this pub highly enough. The bar area is loaded with comfy sofas and armchairs. They serve locally brewed beers (by the pint, not just in garish cans) that I'm assured are delicious. Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We bagged a lovely sofa by the log burner and the staff always put another log on when it was needed without being asked. As for the Sunday roast.... The beef rib roast was probably the best I've ever had. #glutenfree gravy which is a massive treat for me (apparently it's vegan too and it's delicious) and I was offered extra veg because I couldn't have the yorkie. That is great customer service. You have to go here even if it's a bit of a trip

I had a fantastic Sunday roast and would love to visit again. My friend had the vegan Wellington and it also tasted amazingly, even the pastry for the vegan roast was nice. I heard the seafood here is good and would love to try them if I had a chance to come back.

A hidden gem in Bow!! Wonderful array of beers and a very knowledgeable , friendly ideal host of a bar manager. Our second visit and he remembered us, mentioning the exquisite oysters again, so it would be rude not to have another dozen with a fabulous citrus beer. Go, just go. It's the most glorious of pubs!!!

First visit to this place. That they served real ale and fresh seafood on Fridays is what drew us there: we weren't disappointed! The two real ales that were on were excellent. The mussels and chips served with a Belgian beer was superb as were the fresh oysters. Service couldn't have been better, friendly, informative and efficient. Really recommend this place.

Really nice and a much needed addition to the area. Still the same lovely people a few years in. The roast beef is superb in - and can’t believe I’m saying it but even at home. Love love the red cabbage and Yorkshire puddings are great. Always a nice selection of drinks and beers on tap. You can find classics or more independent style beers. Oysters are great too when in season if they aren’t sold out. People are friendly and it feels like a genuine care for quality and improvement over the years. With roasts if you go at 5 pm definitely not going to be as tasty as 2pm, but having somewhere that can do a decent roast later on is great. Other food on the menu is nice too and better than any sort of chain or most in the area including Victoria park etc. Thanks guys and sure we will see you again too.

Staff are very friendly and they have a good range of spirits and craft ales drinks of which they actually know alot about, especially the tall guy, he's suggested many for em to try and they have become favourites. Customer service is excellent. Ordering food? It's Absolutely delicious. Staff are really attentive on serving it too and simply aim to please. Some really unique and quirky decor sections which can make great pics if that's you thing! Outdoor area 🚬is lovely and warm in evenings too.

Can honestly say this is one of the friendliest pubs I have been to in London. Incredibly welcoming, knowledgable staff about the beers on offer, relaxed atmosphere. Expectations in terms of measures put in place for Coronavirus were talked through with us when we entered the pub - organised, efficient and safe! It's an interesting space, they have good wine and other drinks. The beer garden is nicely kitted out. The bar staff were friendly. When I went it was quite empty bar a few locals. It got busier as the night went on. My only criticism would be the selection of chairs and seating. It was hard to pick a good spot. There were many chairs to choose from, but in terms of comfortable ones few and far between. I think people's enjoyment of the place would be enhanced if the seating was better quality and the arrangement of chairs was more thought through.

I do like this pub and would go more if I lived closer. It has a lovely feeling and some wonderful furniture - I'm yet to have the nerve to try the thrones! The bar staff are really friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about their products and happy to talk you through the choices. Just been here for Shrove Tuesday, a great selection of lovely food with good choice for everyone including my veggie girlfriend. Selection of beer is second to none with a nice permanent selection of Belgian beers, lagers and ciders, while the constantly changing other keg beers show a great selection from the local craft breweries in London. Staff also very friendly, and very knowledgable about all that we asked. 5/5 will definitely return.

Local pub and a superb one at that. Dom (who runs/owns the pub) properly knows his stuff. Always in good spirits, he keeps the locals happy with a variety of booze on tap aswell as niche bottles in Belgian beer format and of the hard liquor variety. On top of that, there's always an excellent soundtrack playing, board games to play, a myriad of interesting furniture to sit in and food isn't bad either.

Decent pub in the heart of Bow. Very large selection of craft ales/IPAs/lagers on a good rotation. Along with a big selection of spirits and wines. Nice sofas by log fire and lots of tables. While not a complaint, it’s so big inside, even when a few tables are full with people in it can sometimes feel like lacks little atmosphere. That said, never empty and got a good feel to it, easy to get a table as well.

Takeaway Roast beef Sunday Lunch from the Angel of Bow today! I’m supporting local businesses & they have come up trumps! There was quite a few people in there all obeying the social distancing rules. The pub marked out the floor to keep us in check. Spot on the staff & owners of the Angel of Bow, Superb roast even if it was a takeaway. I miss the atmosphere but we will be back once this crisis is over.

Lovely little family owned independent gem in Bow. Great craft beers and nice friendly staff. They even have a wooden fire. Keep your eyes open for some specials, like Masala Beer Nuts, Voda-Horseradish or Brugse Zot beer from the centre of Bruges on Tap. Defo 5 stars and nothing else to add then I had a couple of great nights there....

Been visiting ever since it opened waiting for food for months after delay and delay. Finally when the menu was up sadly no vegan options and quite pricey. Most recently visited again for the new pub quiz, disappointing no food served on those days so not even chips. Quiz was very amateur and the host actually unfairly helped certain tables with clues. On the pro side it is dog friendly with dog biscuits and now inclusion of board games. A mix of friendly people and some rather odd people.

Beer Lovers Heaven! I come to East London for an Excel event every year and every year I complain about the demise of and lack of your traditional East End pub. The Angel at Bow is not this...it is better. Domenic is passionate about his beer, with about 6-8 casks, some of which are cider, even scrumpy, plus what looked like about 16 keg taps all full of mostly locally brewed craft beers. Prices are very reasonable for this part of the world and the experience is made even better with the knowledge and passion about beer behind the bar. A refurbished and modernized former derelict pub, this place is alive. Cosy up to the wood burning fire or enjoy the entertainment. Saturdays (perhaps other nights) there is live entertainment and certainly the band last night did not dissapoint. After a sampling of quite a few of their wonderful beers, my evening came to an end with a healthy portion of wonderful fish and chips...that Dominic personally collected that morning from Billingsgate around the corner. I wish I had found this little gem earlier, but now I will be a regular...well as far as I can be being an ex-pat Brit living in Canada. Don't miss this one out.

Amazing atmosphere (music too loud) fantastic selection of wine, beers and ciders, beautiful decoration, staff really friendly, food is great in general BUT the Sunday roast was bad, I couldn't even cut into the hard potatoes and undercooked vegetables, very disappointing because it's such a great place, it's not hard to make a roast dinner, not exactly asking for much (I created an account just to leave a review since I use Hotmail) I hope this review is seen and taken into consideration, not everyone is comfortable voicing their concerns after a meal since many like myself suffer with severe social anxiety. Please consider hiring a new chef or have him undergo some training, won't be eating another roast there again unfortunately, otherwise a great pub :)
