Reviews of The Artillery Arms, EC1
w. s.
Just found these lovely pub today on a quiet Saturday early afternoon and what a find. Not many of these types of pubs left in London now. We loved it and met some really nice regulars, John, Jeff and the really nice lady Lucy serving behind the bar. Such a shame Lucy will be leaving soon but do go. On a Saturday early afternoon lovely and peaceful. Thank you so much and so pleased we found you Wendy and Stuart

Great pub. Corner location, good beer.
Get a pint on a nice day, sit outside and watch the world.
R. M.
A nice Fuller's pub with friendly staff and good atmosphere. They were welcoming to my dog which is a plus. Decent selection of beer. Will be back.
d. s.
A lovely oasis Pub, the Artillery Arms has kept its charm from a bye-gone age, and transformed it self into a well run and staffed pub of today, selling a really well stocked premium beer cellar.
It would appear to have managed this, by having either a regular clientele that can afford modern pub prices, that enjoy ambiance of this small but intrestingly decored pub.
My previous visit, introduced me to the novelty of brick communications and amazing staff. This recent visit to sit and enjoy socialising with the company, I was with, and watching the experienced staff interact with alcohol fueled patrons.
Again another lovely evening, and will surely visit again, as I have since the 1980's.
R. W.
Just a great London pub serving excellent London Pride beer, the restaurant upstairs is under separate management. Easily accessible from Moorgate and Finsbury Square via Bunhill Gardens. Perfect for a post work drink.

Been twice in two weeks, amazing value, £36 for the tasting menu is a steal ! So so tasty and I’m not a veggie or vegan but love this pub/restaurant. Superb service and lovely cosy pub downstairs, what more do you need ? Handy for the Barbican too
A. M.
I love this pub. I meet here with business colleagues for catch ups with food or just a drink. Great staff, lovely food and a brilliant atmosphere.
A. N.
Wonderful local; courteous, thoughtful, extra mile kind of place. Welcomed our dog too... Also good beer...
G. H.
Now your head, excuse me, is empty.
I have the ticket for that.
Come here, sweetie, out of the closet.
Well, what do you think of that?
Naked as paper to start
But in twenty-five years she'll be silver,
In fifty, gold.
A living doll, everywhere you look.
It can sew, it can cook,
It can talk, talk, talk.
C. O.
Lovely little pub tucked away at the bottom of Duffrin Street, lots of history and a very pleasant atmosphere, well worth a visit
F. E.
Great Fuller's pub with a fantastic roast. I am a regular of the pub for Wednesday evening beers after rehearsal, but stopping in on a Sunday was a special treat. Very highly recommend.
L. G.
Great little pub, the team is always welcoming and helpful. Good selection of gins and ales
K. H.
Best BA & Chips! But I am American so what do I know🤣 Also pretty cool that they Played the Beatles and had board games.
P. J.
Good vibe. Excellent choice of drinks. Traditional pub feel. First visit. Will definitely go back
D. T.
A delightful corner pub next to Bunhill fields burial grounds, the last resting place of John Bunyan, Daniel Defoe and William Blake. Called in for a beer and a Sunday roast, both were wonderful. Beers were cold and inviting whilst the roast was both well done and generous. An excellent place to visit for either a drink, a meal or both. Enjoy!!!
K. R.
Quiet, peaceful place, at least for a weekday lunchbite. Good food, good selection of beers, friendly staff. What more could you want? Recommended! 🙂
S. D.
Lovely pub. £4.95 for a pint of Peroni. Barman was clean.
d. s.
Lovely pub, has some interesting brick work with hidden messages.
Staff are superb, it was a shame we had to leave, but it was closing time ⚘
J. S.
This is a classic City pub. Good ales, wonderfully old fashioned lay out, good staff. Upstairs room for meetings and events.
N. R.
Amazing vegan food. This chef is one to look out for.
S. W.
Great atmosphere, lovely people, staff and customers both. Beers were also excellent.
K. S.
Great staff and beer. Friendly atmosphere
E. W.
Great little pub, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
p. c.
Good old fashion pub, decent pint of London Pride
R. P.
Cozy pub with excellent, friendly staff. Small selection of games and books.
Y. K.
Burgers are really good ! Perfect for a beer or lunch or both. They have board games great for a rainy afternoon!!!
Merci à bientôt
C. B.
Consistently good ESB in this genuine, traditional, glorious pub. If you needed reasons why London is a great City, stick this place on your list!
C. A.
Standing area outside and it's relative peacefulness midweek make this pub a place worth visiting for a pint after work. Inside is fairly spacious with seating. Prices are reasonable for the area. Surrounding area isn't very pleasant. Overall a good pub bit not outstanding
L. M.
Had beers after cricket. I've always loved this pub: small and friendly, the pints are always fresh. Nice spaces inside and out the front across from the cemetery. A London gem!
A. D.
What an amazing member of staff Steph is. I'm really really disappointed in the 'pub landlord' as are the rest of my guests tonight who felt completely uncomfortable with the way she handled her self. Were were all upstairs having a few drinks and laughs and jokes and steph and her team made us feel at ease and welcome. Thank you so much Steph and team. To the 'Pub landlord' don't even know how she has a management position. So rude and argumentative because it's her night off. Tell her to go give somewhere else! Once again, steph and team well done. We will return again!!!
C. G.
Quality old pub with great beers and friendly staff
G. A.
Cosy and friendly proper pub. Good selection of real ales and great atmosphere - even on a Sunday lunch time. Not able to decide between two beers, I was happy to have a pint of both, but offered tasters. The barman gave me them anyway - "why would you not". Great service. Beers also kept well. Although not tasted, the food looks really scrumptious. Also offered here is a board game corner and book swap. Recommended.
i. q.
Cracking little pub staff friendly and very entertaining. The landlady know how to keep a good pint. Get around there and see it for yourself
L. C.
Absolutely lovely pub! Welcomed by the smiling owner, the cosy atmosphere and a few board games on top of everything! Whether you want a nice drink or just spend a chill afternoon with friends or family, this is definitely a place to go !
R. G.
Love this pub - classic, handsome and cosy, mid 1800s with associated history (rat-baiting anyone?!). Cask ale always top-notch (Fuller's pub) with friendly staff. Do check out the (last remaining?) patch of wooden paving in the adjacent street and of course the nonconformist burial ground opposite (Bunyan, Blake etc.)
D. M.
Quaint little pub near Bunhill cemetery.
G. J.
Great pub, very good beer including Fuller's. Understand that it does good food. Efficient staff and friendly landlord. Office type crowd of customers. Quiet surroundings; it's opposite the cemetery! Handy if you are visiting Blake's or Defoe's graves!
D. R.
Lovely traditional pub with a warm welcome and good food. Will be back.
C. J.
Peaceful bar. Good to drink and catch up with friends.
Friday night last orders at 11pm and asked to leave by 1120.
Good for drinks before going on to other places.
Clean and friendly, although toilet drains smell a bit.
R. B.
Really nice small pub near Bunhill Fields. A decent selection of real ales at the bar, priced fairly well for central London (just over £4/pint). The food was also good - I had a falafel and chickpea burger which arrived quickly and I'd no complaints about.
M. P.
Small quant old style pub with lots of English ales to choose from. Very popular with the after work crowd.
N. B.
Classic British pub. Good selection of proper pints and friendly staff.
The food is good standard pub food and reasonably priced. Lots of City workers come here after work but its quieter after 8pm once they've left and the regulars come in.
Worth a walk if you like classic pubs and beer.
C. N.
We organised our social event here on a Tuesday evening. All 20 of us fit in well, and we were free to adjust sitting arrangements as it was totally private.
All we needed was £100 as a reservation deposit when we booked to ensure that we would not become no shows. The deposit also seems like a polite minimum spend suggestion (not that our party would have any difficulties far-exceeding that target). The deposit got returned.
I also loved their food. I had their menu’s gammon-based meal; it tasted good, and the portion was enormous, justifying its price tag. The customer service was stellar.
A. M.
Glad I didn't get the app. Although the app gets you pints quicker, any conversation had with the barstaff here is a delight. In a world where the local Tête a Tête can no longer exist, the artillery stands as a beacon to anyone that likes to spin a pint and a yarn simultaneously. Also if they don't like your custom it's a short walk to the cemetery to dispose of the bad punter. 10 out of 10 would pub again.
M. T.
Used to visit regularly 10 years ago
Friendly staff
Characterful pub
P. J.
Small pub, quite old with small bar. Does do quite good Sunday roasts. Can be a bit blokey particularly at weekends.
During week if nice weather can be busy as people stand in street, often on other side of road near graveyard. Then customers often younger and more balanced between sexes .
But then service will suffer
J. G.
Great “proper pub” serving everything Fullers has to offer. It’s called “The Artillery Arms” because of the army barracks just over the road. Great on a winter’s day for the cozy indoors, and ideal on a summer’s evening as you can have a drink outside or opposite next to the Bunhill Fields burial ground.
C. R.
Such a lovely pub. Wish I'd found this place earlier. Hope to be back real soon.
s. c.
Very lovely cosy pub
We had really good night and it was good value for money
We were there at around 7pm for a sunday roast so we had to pre order tte food just in case
Maybe because the meat stayed in the oven for long , not sure, it was overcooked as the veggie roast that my partner had . He def didnt enjoyed his as also the cheese inside was burned
Shame as portions and quality of the food seemed good but as i said maybe it was because it was late in the day
I think i ll go back there as i enjoyed overall but next time i ll go back at lunch time ! Finger crossed!
I. S.
Nice little London boozer...friendly locals and looked after by deano.. 🍻
A. T.
A nice pub, on the edge of the City. Fast service and attentive staff.
C. K.
Great beer, terrible food. I ordered the Mac and Cheese, it was basically a tiny bowl of undercooked pasta with some white sauce stirred into it. Foul and flavourless. The beer and the service were great though, and a lovely pub too.
J. B.
Small, cosy, awesome proper little pub
J. M.
Traditional pub with a fire. Cosy
r. d.
Definitely a favourite London pub. Just between you and me, we called it 'meeting room 27" when I worked at a nearby head office.
I can't say WHICH head office for reasons of confidentiality of course (ok, it was Post Office head office, when it was at 148 Old St).
Anyway, we would spend as much time here as possible to get away from the disorganised chaos perpetuated by overpaid and completely dotty senior managers at work.
A little oasis.
L. S. C.
Lovely English roast dinner in a friendly old English pub. Nice decor with Interesting old books to read and background music. Excellent service. Very handy for public transport.
N. M.
I come here fairly regularly since it's the closest bar to where I work but I couldn't really recommend it for anyone to travel out of their way for. The drinks are fine if uninspired, the food is just straight up bad. Avoid any and all buffet items would be my advice. There isn't a cocktail list to my knowledge which always sets me against a place.
T. H.
One of my favourite pubs in London. Great atmosphere, beautifully restored and it's got beer ... I can't think of anything else to say.
n. j.
Nice small city pub, good range of fullers real ales and a guest beer, busy when football is on, upstairs also for private function, does get a little noisy, but a good atmosphere.
J. H.
Good pub for a lunchtime pint, well kept beer. In the summer it's a great place to have a pint in the sun standing outside. Has a useful function room upstairs
M. S.
Excellent pub with a short but decent choice of beer. Staff is nice and polite. Great place to go for an afterwork pint next to Bunhill Grounds!
M. B.
Cosy sized pub with wooden furniture and friendly staff, sell decent food and fresh alcohol.
They have a function room upstairs that is a good size with plenty table and chairs.
The location is just a few mins from the train station and is in a quiet street away from all the london traffic.
S. C.
Classic English pub. If you're after draught beer and bangers and mash this place has you sorted. Also a really cosy venue with plenty of room for small groups. Board games on offer as well if you're keen.
T. Y.
nice local neighbourhood pub in a commercial area. not too much beer selections, they don't have draught IPA for example, but food was great. not the best place to watch football
M. d. P.
Nice little pub tucked away. Great to visit on a summer's day as the crowds spill out into the surrounding area. Good food on offer.
J. H.
Small cosy local pub with good beers. There's not a huge amount of space here so expect it to be busy at peak times. During summer it's easy to stand outside.
G. A.
Traditional-ish Fullers pub in back street setting. Real ales are mainly Fullers' own but kept well. Food available too, but it's some time since I've eaten here.
J. S.
Great pub food (chips, onion rings, etc). Standard beer taps. Lovely people behind the bar. Wheelchair accessible toilet and entrance (on the side street) #accessibility
I. O.
Really good for beers and spirits. They don't rip you off if you are on soft drinks either (like other London establishments). An excellent place to relax.
J. J.
I've been here a number of times now for lunch food, which I can now safely label anything but disappointing. The food has always been warm, tasty and better than expected. Staff are experienced and friendly.
n. s.
Quick bar service but too small. It's constantly busy with a good beer selection and is part of Fuller's.
One of the better ones in the area
R. W.
Cosy Boozer on the outskirts of the city. A nice antidote to some of the more busy pubs in the area. The beer was well served by friendly staff in a pub that still has an old school atmosphere - check it out
R. P.
Nice place for a few drinks and chat, would recommend to anyone, does get busy so if you're looking to turn up and get a seat aim to be there before businesses close for the evening.
M. M.
Always loved this pub since being taken in there for underage pints in the 1980's. Now I work just around the corner and it still makes me just as happy to have a pint of Pride in there.
J. H.
Great local (and city) pub! Fantastic mix of clientele. Lovely and helpful staff. What more do you want?
I. M. G.
Very nice place to sit down. Pretty building. Food is flavourless and plain. Assortment of drinks is better. The staff is very polite.
A. M.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I love the interior and the atmosphere of the place, although it's quite cramped on a busy day, not very spacious.
A. S.
Nice pub. Great pint of Pride
J. F.
Classic London Pub, with decent staff and a good selection of drinks. We did not eat at the pub, as it was quite cramped.
h. j.
Great little pub, with friendly staff
T. B.
Great Fuller's pub - and where I come for a decent pint of London Pride.
Get's packed with a mix of Lawyers, students and Army types. Is also very popular for wedding drinks.
R. T.
Nice small pub with a good selection of ale. Right around the corner from tons of food stalls on a Friday at lunch.
N. W.
This is my local and I pass it every day. Sometimes it gets so busy the windows steam up but it's for a great atmosphere and it's got games as well! Super....pubby. can't go wrong really.
O. G.
Absolutely loved it. Friendly staff, good beer and tasty food. It was very noisy here in the Thursday evening. I'm fine with it though
J. W.
Good beer, good food and good service, had their burger and it was amazing, gets busy as offices close but other than that 5 stars
L. W.
Lovely classic pub, small but perfectly formed. Good value food and friendly staff.
J. J. W.
The quintessence of PUB. Absolutely awesome!
R. C.
It is Friendly local pub, gets busy with workers and people from the Royal Artillery Company. It needs a better selection of Fullers beers - more seasonal
B. D.
Really cute and friendly pub
A. M.
Nice range of real ales and a good atmosphere. Top pub for after work drinks for those who work near Moorgate.
G. T.
Classic local London pub - good for a pint, usually crowded after work and mostly standing space but it's a reasonably quiet street with a park opposite so plenty odd space outside when it's not raining...
a. H.
It’s a small pub and only has a limited selection of beers on tap. They have a few tables upstairs. Toilets were clean and the staff friendly.
B. A.
Nice pub with friendly staff. Particularly nice on a summers day
E. S.
Amazing pub, such good food atmosphere and drinks. Would highly recommend!
M. B.
This was always a friendly and welcoming old fashioned pub, and the way it's kept this whilst dealing with the COVID restrictions is brilliant.
e. b.
Proper old London boozer, generally has crowds of people outside during the week and is pretty much empty at the weekends. There's a cosy little room upstairs with a view of the graveyard.
J. H. (.
Great selection of beers, chips are great. One of the staff members could use a visit from the happy fairy though.
J. L.
A small friendly pub where the City, Shoreditch and local residents mix. Sometimes members of the nearby HAC in dress uniform join the regulars.

Terrible white wine spritzer. There was no fizz. Good location though. Away from main street so a quiet place
M. G.

L. C.
Transitional pub with great vibe cuz yiu can see di6ages of people. Nice staff, normal prices.
S. C.
Only popped in for drink....friendly proper pub. Sunday lunch looked good & was clearly popular!
S. G.
Unspoilt London local pub of character run by Fullers brewey. Higher prices reflect its city location.
S. S.
Nice Place. Decent food and good prices but the staff can be quite rude. Particularly on Fridays when it gets busy, the staff behave quite bad.

(Translated) If you want to feel the local pub where British locals go, I recommend going. There is a pub next to the cemetery, and it is very exotic for people to stand up and drink beer casually ㅋㅋ You can experience a little bit of British culture. Beer was okay.
