Great food at pretty decent prices for it's location in London. It's a little off the main path so it wasent jammed full of people but the interior and exterior were very pleasant and welcoming. I had the fish and chips with marshy pees. It was very pretty large portions and fresh. Plenty of beer and football as well, surprising right!?

This is a large and very nice pub in the backwaters of Westminster. Can be loud sometimes, but most of my visits have been rather quiet, which I like. They have a very good selection of Real Ale and, of course, everything else you would expect from a good pub. Food can be ordered, too. For those loooking for something different, I can recommend this place very much.

Chose this pub as it was near to a venue where we were attending an event. It allowed us to book a table in advance which I am grateful for as it does get busy. The staff are very friendly and it has a lovely atmosphere. We ordered 2 burgers and 2 soft drinks. That came to just over £30. A bit pricey but it is London. Only complaints is the burger roll was burnt and falling to pieces and the womens toilet cubicles are small and difficult to get out of.

Great pub. Very friendly bartenders. They were fun and interesting to talk to. They had a good selection of beer on tap. We came in late, just 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and they were happy to make food for all four of us in our party. Best of all the food was really good.

A dimly lit, great old fashioned English pub in the heart of Westminster, maybe you'll run into a politician you love or hate, who knows. Set on Horseferry road, so a slight walk to a station at home time, lovely staff and two levels of seating, let's hope it doesn't fall victim to the Lockdowns, as we will all need our locals in the aftermath of this madness.

An excellent pub in the heart of London. I have been there several times when it has been very busy and I thought the service was very good and fast considering how many people were in there. It had a good range of beers and ales and all the normal spirits you would expect in a pub. The place looked clean and tidy and well looked after. I would recommend this pub.

Good evening with 5 star excellent service. Be cautious of the breaded panko chicken choices as there is some spicy Tabasco mixed in which lowered my overall rating. The steak and ale pie was really good. Again, 5 stars to the staff and management who made the unexpected spicy chicken issue right. Will be returning and would suggest this as a good spot for drinks and food.

The 10oz steak dish was poorly served and expensive for what it brings (chips, peppercorn sauce and vine tomatoes that were not even on the vine). There wasn’t much of the peppercorn sauce at all and it mostly consisted of peppercorns and not a lot of sauce whatsoever. Took long to get to the table but was tasty at least. Won’t be ordering steak from here again, the roast dinner other people had looked great but our steaks looked poor.

This pub is one of the best in SW1, been here for 10 years and I can confirm the review are correct, some are negatives .. staff are lovely and they do almost best for the customers, I am one for example spend 3200.00 over the couple of year or less and not mingle about it , Catia and Marc are wonderful management. I was on holiday with my boyfriend and we lived in the near of "the barley mow". We testes a few Pubs, but none of them was cozy like this one! We spent nearly every afternoon there after shopping or sight seeing. The Fish and Chips are huge and they taste awesome! We are definitely coming again.

The 10 ounce steak my husband got was full of flavor but had quite a bit of veins & tendons through part of it. My BLT was good. The steak & ale pie that my son ate was very good & smelled wonderful. And my DIL had the fish & chips were good. They were very accommodating towards our 21 month old son. All in all very good.

Large, but slightly impersonal, public house in the backstreets of the City of Westminster. Reasonable selection of real ales in the downstairs bar. The pub seems popular with the locally employed. A spacious room is available upstairs for private functions.

Typical of a British pub in most respects, although the gins are eye-wateringly expensive. A double Gordon's (yes Gordon's) and tonic is £10.40! That said, the beers and ciders are more realistically priced (for London). You can reserve tables in advance which is recommended on a Thursday or Friday night as it gets really busy just after work. Convenient for both Waterloo and Victoria stations as the 507 shuttle bus runs straight past it. All in all, a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere in a not too busy part of town.

It's best to go here mid-afternoon, before it gets crowded and noisy. Food good, beer good. Good for small groups. Booking a table in advance is a good idea. It's smartly done up inside. For me it has the feel of a compromise between traditional and modern.

A tourist pub that has a local following. Mentioned in loads of guide books, works of fiction and has a link to terrorism then it was shot up a while ago. Good on the first floor is eatable but a little lacklustre. This pub is closing soon, get there now.

“ anything but the Barley Mow” was for a long time an all too frequent refrain of mine as colleague after colleague picked it for that leaving do or promotion celebration. With its ever crowded bar, noisy interior and beer supply apparently focused on quantity over quality it would never have been my first choice for an enjoyable evening with a pint or two. Of late things seem to be changing though. I can't remember when I had my last undrinkable pint and one can even sometimes hear what people are saying to you. And, in any case, you only need to see the crowds spilling out onto the pavements on both sides of the building to know that, whatever I think, they are doing something right. So, would I personally choose it for a few drinks with friends or colleagues? Probably not. But is it the worst place you could plump for locally? Far from it.

Been using this lovely pub for years, (I was a teenager when I first went in with my parents and am now 65yrs old) but not so much lately because of prices. We go in for football matches, usually with other family members and friends. At these times we obviously spend a lot, we are all drinkers and usually eat there as well. On Saturday 25th April my husband, Roy, rang to book a table for the next day, as we always do and was told that because of the marathon we couldn't do this. We went around early and got a large table and found that the table next to it had a board on it saying "Reserved for Liam for 4pm". Whoever Liam was we never found out because he didn't turn up! After a couple of pints my husband ordered a house double of whisky, which is £4.70 when he has had it before. He was told he couldn't have it at this price because it was only for "special people" as in regulars. If it hadn't been for the football and meeting friends we would have left there and then and it is unlikely that we will be back, which is very sad after such a long time.
