Reviews of The Bell & Crown, Chiswick
P. P.
It’s one of my favourite bar and restaurant.
The staffs are very friendly. The bartender always recommend the best drinks to pair with my meal. Food is yummy and price is reasonable. Take a beer and enjoy it outside the bar or on the terrace, you will then have a wonderful time to chill beside the river. Needless to say anything, see my picture and you will understand.
Remember to make a reservation if you not come here on weekdays.

Visited here a few times. Great friendly pub with a local feel. Has a nice view of the Thames. They have recently really upped their game with the plant-based food too.

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Arrived for dinner and had London Porter Smoked Salmon as a starter which I would really recommend. The pub itself is a short walk from Kew Bridge and you can either access it along the embankment or the street which is the front entrance. Inside dining was available throughout and there is also a conservatory dining area which I was sitting adjacent to. Next to me was the pictured wooden grey wall which screened the servery. Animated, and I must say accurate, staff banter could be heard from the other side which clinched the sixth star. For the main I had London Pride Steak Pie and mash. This pub is a must and make sure that you dine too.

All time favorite when visiting Kew Gardens
Really great pub with fantastic atmosphere, delicious food and great service. Just 15 min walk from Kew Gardens gate, which makes it a perfect dinner choice on your day out
C. L. T.
This is for sure one of the best pubs I have recently visited. I was there with friends and family for a Sunday lunch and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the swift, friendly and helpful service. The price/quality ratio was also excellent. Well done guys :)
R. N.
Decent pub on the banks of Thames. Busy and at times a bit unattended due to the rush but I can't really fault the staff for that. It's a good gastropub option if I'm doubt about neighborhood choices.
S.
As with all the Fullers pubs I have been to service and value for money is exceptional. It wasn't very busy as we chose to have a late lunch. Lovely pub overlooking the Thames. We were lucky to have a window seat which added to the occasion even on a dreary January day
K. K.
The food was excellent, service was amazing; Alex was such a delightful person, by the river so views onto the Thames. Highly recommend, will definitely go again. Also, parking available apart from 10-2pm.

What an excellent hidden gem. The staff are friendly, polite and engaging, the food exceeded expectations. We had a fantastic family gathering only made better by the atmosphere and the table service we received. Thank you

I've lived in West London 37 years and, I have to say that Fuller's pubs are the BEST. My own local is the lovely Rose and Crown in Ealing, but on glorious, sunny days, like today, we venture down to the river and the Bell and Crown and are never disappointed. Had such a great evening there today, made perfect by the warmth of the service. So sorry I didn't ask your name, lovely chap with beard, but thank you anyway!
Y. D.
Absolutely brilliant service from all staff, very kind and accommodating. Had the roast chicken lunch which was so tasty. Seats on the tow path are first come first serve but well worth waiting for as the view of the river is lovely. Felt extremely Covid secure with a one way system in place. We’ll definitely be back!
D. P.
Have been back and it is still good food.
We had cod and ships and a ribeye steak special, which was again good, a little thin on the cut
Nice river views as well and you can sit outside or in. Not far from Kew Gardens if you fancy a little walk accross the river rather then the hectic canteen like experience.

Good food. Have been quite a few times and is a nice pub with nice river views. A nice atmosphere not too noisy or too quiet.
T. M.
First ever visit to this pub. Great setting right on the river, good choice of beers (mostly Fullers, understandably) friendly welcome, despite being invaded by CPFC fans and tempting menu (we only had the charcuterie plate). Will be back for another visit, irrespective of footy!❤💙🦅
R. M. D.
The most perfect little spot by the river! We stopped on our walk and had a drink. It was quite busy inside so we took a chair outside by the river bank. The bar staff were friendly and the food smelt define 🤤 we will be back for food again ☺️
S.
Thames side pub. Friendly staff. Interior mainly focused on dining. Nice view from the seats outside on the Thames path.
P. M.
What a beautiful pub, right on the Thames. Food was a bit pricy and they did automatically add a service charge. All in all great main courses, naughty desserts and coffee.
C. H.
Had a brilliant lunch there - staff couldn’t have been nicer even to a table with four kids who knocked things over and dropped things repeatedly. Great atmosphere, views and food. Would recommend.
A. W.
booked in for a Sunday roast and wow it didn't disappoint, great service from the staff and the beer was spot on too. Views over the thames from the windows to watch the boats go by. If driving be sure to check local signs on arrival as there are lots of restricted spaces only for permit holders.
C.
Have been going to the Bell and Crown for a number of years, I've not ever had a bad experience in here and the food has always been good.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating! Always a first choice to go when the sun is out.. And even sometimes when it's not.
Edit: 2019.. Still great food!
Edit 2 : July 2019... New soft shell crab burger... Very nice! New layout and lovely spruce up!
Edit3: 2020... Still great!

Me and my boyfriend went it was so lovely 😍 food is very nice 👌 😋

We visited this wonderful pub for the first time on Sunday with friends, we all 12 of us had a different meal and everyone enjoyed the food ,service perfect, what a lovely day, thankyou to you all,we will be back soon.👍🏻👌👏👏👏
C. H.
Delicious Sunday roast, perfect post game meal. It gets very busy, highly recommend booking in advance for table/restaurant service
T. L.
Great food, amazing riverside location. It does get flooded though at high tide, so accessing along path may be difficult, so use the entrance on Thames Road. However, the fact that it floods means great fun for any kids you bring along, although make sure to check the tide tables beforehand. Waitress was good although forgot a few of our requests, had to ask multiple times in some cases.
M. S.
Nice location, right by the river. A local establishment that we regularly frequent.
Came in yesterday (01/10/21) for lunch with a few colleagues and we had a good time.
As a starter I had beetroot and salt beef hash with a poached egg and it was really nice. For my main I had chicken schnitzel served with champ. I wouldn’t call it a schnitzel though - it was too thick and the batter wasn’t crispy enough, but it was tasty. Champ was very dense and needed more creaminess. Overall, not a bad dish, but it does need some improvement.
Dessert was great - salted caramel tart served with pecan praline, Earl Grey prunes and whipped cream.
Service was friendly and welcoming.
Will be back soon again.
J. D.
Great riverside pub, with good food. Definitely going back.
D. S.
A tiny bit overrated at 4.3. The food was fairly good but nothing too crazy about it. Nice atmosphere both indoors and outdoors and loved the dog friendly bit. However I was expecting them to put putting a bit more effort on the dishes. The steaks came with pre fright french fries. Wasn’t amused by it overall. Lastly if you are to visit you better make a reservation in advance as they were packed and you won’t get a table (at least not one further away from the kitchen). Just moved to the area and I’m definitely gonna be giving another chance as it looked like it had potential.

C. P.
Lovely pub, good selection of drinks and apparently makes good food, although I haven't tried it! A popular pub and so usually quite busy. Definitely dog friendly and there's often several dogs around, and they even have dog treats behind the bar, just ask for one if you have your dog with you :)
R. T.
They have a happy and helpful staff. The food is restaurant quality, but its also a great place just to drink, with an exeptional riverside setting.
D. R.
We didn't eat here but went for a drink with. a view. We weren't disappointed this little pub is situated right on the banks of the River Thames We went at sunset and the views were perfect. The bar itself is cozy and has a great atmosphere Will definitely be back
K. L.
Early dinner with a 6 month old and 2 year old in tow. Genuinely the best service and food we've enjoyed in a local pub, we're looking for an excuse to come back for lunch already. Highly recommended, give it a try.
S. D.
Great location and pleasant staff. Steak pie was very dry - both the pastry and filling.
D. H.
We has a lovely dinner here last night. I had venison pasta that was delicious. The wine was reasonably priced and great tasting too. The service was friendly. Good place for the whole family and dogs too.
C. R.
My wife and I stopped by there for a bit of lunch on a lovely sunny afternoon after a stroll along the river! The atmosphere inside is lovely and cosy and the view from the window tables is great!
The outside seating areas w already quite busy so can't imagine what it's like in summer months!
Good choice of food and friendly staff as well.
M. S.

Me and my boyfriend went it was so lovely 😍 food is very nice 👌 😋
S. P.
Really nice food for a sunday lunch, lovely ambience in a light and bright place near the river. The service was excellent. Thankyou
R. O.
Really good xmas meal. They had everybody's menu organised, food came out for us all to enjoy at the same time. They ventilated the pub which made it a bit cold but blankets were provided for the ladies. Very enjoyable
M. R. A.
Really nice view next to the Thames. We are sitting in the teras area i recommend in nice2 weather. Good selection of beers and drinks.
I. G.
Great place in front of Thames River, nice terrace, good service, good food and worth price. Totally recommended.
R. C.
An amazing crew of people helped my extended family (14 people) have a excellent and delicious pre-Christmas lunch. Nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommend.
K. B.
Called in with my youngest daughter on the way to watch wolves play Brentford the food was brilliant the staff were very helpfull and polite keep up the good work you all do from kev and chloe xxx
M. P.
Pleasant pub with a good outlook to the Thames. Owned by Fullers so beer is good too. Does food as well, although it's a little pricey. More enjoyable at less busy times, but now has more competition since the City Barge was rebuilt. Definitely one of the better riverside pubs.
S. M.
Had a lovely birthday meal here with family and friends. The staff could not have been nicer, nothing too much trouble. Great views plus they gave me a free desert with candle 😊🎂 and a drink. Really pleased we celebrated my birthday there.
P. L. R.
Good pub with riverside views and a friendly landlady. Comfortable interior drcoration. Good place.
D. E. L.
Pub/tavern by the thames. Excellent location close to the river. Very nice place for a drink outside when the weather is good.
M. S.
Great, friendly service and delicious food go hand in hand. Uncommon in Pubs today. The food exceeds expectations.
Proper gastropub
C. W.
Brilliant place. Excellent location. Great food and a well run service. One of my favourite places to visit.
G. C.
Great pub on the river. All the tables near the windows next to river always full.
C.
The service and friendliness from Woody was as fantastic as the food! Really beautiful riverside setting and a lovely relaxed vibe. Will definitely be back
d. F.
The first pub I have been too in over a year, since the pandemic started.
I experienced, great friendly service ordering drinks and clear helpful guidance to understand the new way we need to do so. The bar person who served us made us feel at ease and comfortable.
A very positive experience during a time of challenging ones !
H. M.
Great spot on the river! Great food, reasonable drinks and friendly staff.
U. C. S.
We popped into the Bell & Crown on the off chance, lucky for us we got an exterior table, right by the Thames. What a delightful spot. The food was AMAZING ! Possibly the best fish and chips I have had in years ! You have to try them ! My wife had a Sunday pork roast, also fantastic. Staff were brilliant and helpful. Great spot, great food, good drink and lovely people. Definitely highly recommend.
D. W.
Excellent views from Fullers riverside pub. Also has an interesting selection of herbal teas for those not in the mood for drinking.
M. H.
Very nice staff were brilliant but very expensive. fuller's pub make sure you take a credit card 🤷♂️
M. A.
Always a good time. Super chill relaxing atmosphere. A bit noisy but great spot to park on the bench for some drinks. Good food and friendly service.
A. C.
The food was great here and the location right next to the river is picturesque, especially during summer time. The staff are also really helpful and go out of their way to accommodate you, I would highly recommend this place.
S. J.
We sat by the window. The service was perfect, the wine was delicious, and the view was unbeatable. I love this place.
R. R.
Staff are so lovely! Loved my time here and the food and drink were delicious! <3
R.
Really busy pub next to the canals - service was really good and helpful- we had the turkey Xmas special and it was nice but nothing special - it could be a bit more generous with the turkey portions
G. K.
Beautiful place with very good kitchen and a few different places inside: near fire place, regular tables, conservatory, summer outside tables.
J. D.
Great riverside pub, with good food. Definitely going back.
S. C.
Excellent staff, great range of drinks, first class food, lovely location on the River.
C.
Was here with friends for drinks. The best is the service :) excellent. I didn't have food but all my friends were very happy with what they ordered. Apparently the burgers are amazing! The view is great, the place is super relaxed, dog friendly (they even give you a bowl with water for your dog, is awesome!). Can get a bit chilly in the evening in the spring or colder months, bring a big scarf because shared pub blankets are not allowed since covid.
K. G.
A lovely old pub situated along the towpath of the Thames. Great in the daytime looking put over the river and boats etc. Evening time, like any other pub.
A. B.
Favourite pub in Chiswick and so glad it’s our local! Stunning riverside location with beautiful views all year round, can sit outside on the wall and have a drink in the sunshine, (they’re very chilled) but it’s also lovely inside. The staff are really friendly and always make an effort to make you feel welcome, the pub food is great and good selection of beers on tap!
R. R.
good pub with a nice view and tasty food
s. M.
Beautiful pub on the river! Food looks good! Just had a pint or two!
J. T.
Great food, tasty beer, splendid service.
S. G.
A friend and I popped in for a meal. What a lovely place. Plenty of space between tables, the staff were friendly and helpful, the views across and down the river are great. The food was great. All in all, a super experience. Thank you.
S. H.
Good food, lovely staff. Definitely going here again.
C. W.
food is scrumptious. service is great, attentive but not rushed. Alex served us tonight! Great atmosphere, perfect for friends, couples and families. Would 100% recommend this pub to everyone. Its super cosy inside too :)
J. G.
Excellent fresh fish and chips here as is the Chicken Schnitzel too. Steak Pie was just average. Nice staff and place and location right on the river side.
R. G.
Superb. In every way. Brilliant views, great ambiance, special thanks to Martin and Joe for such excellent, friendly attention at the table, and obviously the kitchen produces delicious food. My compliments!
J.
Cosy pub offering a tasty sunday roast (£18) while you overlook a picturesque part of the river Thames at sunset. After a couple of drinks and a belly full of good food take a walk down the tow path and you will forget you are even in a big city. Helpful staff too, in particular Alex who went above and beyond to ensure our visit was great, even sourcing a safety pin for one of our guests who had a wardrobe malfunction. Will certainly be returning soon.
Y. “.
Lovely, Fullers pub that does excellent Sunday roasts. Can get very busy on a Sunday so you should reserve.
J. G.
Good selection of drinks, very nice food and friendly staff.
E. F.
Love this pub. I keep bringing friends and always have a great time there. I love the style and the terrace overlooking the river.
P. !.
This has consistently good service, professional, friendly, polite and speedy. I enjoy this as a local place with most people able to walk here or have a short cycle car journey so it has a different vibe.
The food and drinks are good and reasonable and the location is super
S.
Excellent service and food! They were so friendly and accommodating and served us quickly as I explained we had to be out in an hour. Can't wait to go back again.
I. W.
Lovely location on the river and very welcoming and professional service.
H. H.
Great service and food. Beautiful pub during summer and cozy during winter.
F. F.
Amazing pub with one of the best combo of service and food quality than I never seen.
M.
My gf said it was the best fish and chips she's ever had. She is Austrian though so I am not sure how seriously we should take her proclamation.
D. S.
Great food .great service..
Would definitely go back.
Recommend it
R. D.
This place was absolutely incredible today 10/10 all across the board. Absolutely delicious Sunday roast with red cabbage and cauli cheese and perfect Yorkshire’s! Alex who served us was fantastic. The entire team did such a smashing job even though it was really busy. Service, food, atmosphere, location all perfect on a rainy autumn afternoon. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you!
B. H.
Good good and good service, especially on s match day at Brentford. The staff did a great job.
E. B.
Lovely location on the river. Food is very good. Staff are friendly and well trained. Proud to take friends there.
N. H.
Excellent food, beer and service! A nice place to be at the Thames. Cosy!
L. J.
My family and I have been visiting The Bell and Crown for years and have always enjoyed our visit and the food. However, on Wednesday we had lunch there and for the first time, we all thought the food was disappointing. There was nothing actually wrong with it, but it was all very average. And therefore, for what it was, overpriced.
The kids' burger and fish and chips was ok, but the adults' food was disappointing. The burger was thin and a bit dry. The accompanying portion of chips was mean. The fish pie was uninspiring and fairly bland. A starter of three prawns and two pieces of squid for £8 was an absolute joke.
The food was what you might expect from a Harvester or Beefeater. But the food isn't Harvester or Beefeater prices: £14 for the burger and £17 for the fish pie! It felt poor value for money.
We're very keen to try and keep supporting our local pubs and restaurants at this time, but given our experience this week, I'm not sure we'll be back to The Bell and Crown anytime soon. Which given how long we've been visiting, is actually a real shame.
I did email the pub directly to give this feedback, but four days later I haven't heard anything from them. Probably says it all.
A. G.
This classic English pub along the river Thames used to be a father & son boot makers.
It pays homage to its history of selling boots to passing merchant river boats with its decor.
Expect fantastic views, great service, delicious food and a lovely selection of fresh beers from Fullers; our world renowned local brewery.
This is a great choice for any occasion and the best option of all the pubs along this little section of the Thames.
M. W.
Gets 3 stars as in a lovely location. Service was poor when we visited. Waited a while at the bar and then ordered, two of my group wanted tea and coffee however were refused as staff said they were too busy. This is not the customers problem and if iys on your menu then you shouldn't be to busy to serve. Was a Saturday afternoon.
M. C.
Lovely pub, friendly and attentive service, beef burger delicious aswell as the bangers and mash
D. A.
Nice little pub with nice views of the mirror. Quick nice service and has decent indoor space as well. Great quality kitchen with a good selection of meals
K. R.
Nice pub on the Bank of the river Thames friendly staff and a lot of them, down side was seeing a customer come in with their dog allowing it onto the seating then sitting on the window cill, no one told the owners to get it down. Not a good advert for a pub selling food
V. K.
A nice pub next to the river. And certainly a perfect spit to enjoy a few drinks and the views. Very expensive food.
S. E.
Great food, excellent selection of beers, log fire.... very nice indeed.
I. T.
Great pub on the river.
We where down for the football from burnley...
L. U.
Chose this pub for the river side views. I went with 3 others.
We all loved the location and views from our table. If you want to get the best from this pub, I would suggest reserving a table to guarantee a river side spot.
The service was good and the servers were helpful.
The food itself was what you would expect from a traditional pub. One member of the party was vegetarian and there were options available. We were all happy with our meals. The one disappointment was that two members of the party decided to share one desert. The server was aware that the desert was ordered with the intention of sharing the dish, however, the party was not informed that the dish was too small to share. Overall, this was a relaxing setting to chill after a long day of sightseeing and I would go back to this pub.
S. E.
Went as a table of 9. Good menu choices for everyone, including vegan option. Everyone enjoyed their food and it was hot, which for a large party is sometimes not the case. Good selection of draft and bottled beer. Lovely Riverside pub, highly recommended. We will definitely visit again.
I. L. (. G.
I love this place, food was banging and the location x
t. t.
Always popular ... unable to get seated for an hour (should have reserved a table), so settled for a pint on the fore shore!
K. N.
Great food, beautiful location! Will be back :)
L. B.
My husband and I are locals to the riverside pubs in Chiswick. We are lucky enough to have a few pubs close by. We enjoy them all but Manager Barbara has really improved service and atmosphere since she’s been in charge. The whole team are a delight - especially Paul who goes above and beyond to ensure customers are being looked after. Thanks guys! Lisa.
N. V.
Came here for my brother in law's birthday. Sunday roast was amazing! The place is super clean and have a good/safe system given new COVID rules that are now in place. The staff are really friendly and made it a great experience for us! Thank you Alex and team 😊 we will definitely be coming back!
A. F.
Great lunch and brilliant, friendly staff.
D. L.
I love this pub! It's location is fantastic, right next to the Thames with great views. The food is also really good and tasty! I've always found the service friendly too and I think the prices are reasonable. On a summers day it's especially good to sit outside in the sun (hopefully) with sweeping views of the Thames! I think they are dog friendly as well. Well worth a visit!
F. M.
It's a Great place to spend an evening, calm and nice environment, the food is really good, the staff are nice and polite, also you have river view. Highly recommended.
O. V. S.
Such a lovely place
R. C.
Has always been a great place to eat, with a good choice of food and great staff and service.
Now they have enhanced the outdoor balcony by glassing it in and adding heating, so you can enjoy the balcony area all year round. In summer it can be completely opened up, but in winter, it is floor to ceiling windows with heating. A great addition.
C. B.
Delightful pub with good beers and food.
P. B.
Interesting beer selection. Good food. Plenty of table seating, inside and out. At the rear, excellent outdoor river views. Can get busy on hot summer days. Handy bus and rail access nearby.
H. S.
Personally, i had a great time. I didn't get to order anything to eat but the pint's price was reasonable. The river view is great, and there is enough space for someone to sit outside on a sunny day. Everybody from the stuff was polite. Only negative: too many dogs inside the place. I would definitely go there again.
T.
Beautiful pub next to the river. The staff couldn't do enough for my grandmother who was celebrating her 98th birthday. Elga (Server) and Lucy (Asst. Manager) were especially helpful.
Fantastic food and a good selection of ales. Kids menu and dietary requirements all taken care of. This pub is perfect for an afternoon lunch by the river. You won't be disappointed.
P. C.
Went there, five of us, for Sunday lunch. Absolutely flawless! Charming pub with great views. Staff couldn't have been nicer, and plentiful, so there was always someone on hand to help and take orders. Excellent beer, delicious roast, and, very importantly, dogs are welcomed. Also when the bill came, no service charge added, and in such cases I am always inclined to give more than the "voluntary" 12.50% normally added. All in all, a perfect spot. will be back very soon.
a. p.
Just celebrated a birthday lunch today, the staff were amazing, in particular Alex who could not do enough for us. Will be going back there again. Good value, lovely location, roast was excellent and free parking on Sunday.
A. S.
Excellent location by the river and staff are always friendly. Excellent food and very nice atmosphere. Dog friendly too! Nice fireplace for those winter nights and outside seating for the summer sun.
A good family pub.
D. G.
Great food. Only downside was that the lady behind the bar gave us the price to pay verbally and displayed on the till, but no receipt. I had to ask for a receipt which also stated that service was added to the total. Then the payment machine asked if I wanted to give an additional tip and in addition make a donation to charity. If someone didn't ask for a receipt and paid the amount requested and tipped on top without knowing the service was already included, that would be really unfair. Abit of a con
W. H.
Love this pub! Right on the river front and great views!
C. W.
My local pub and probably one of the nicest pubs in the UK. Staff and landlords are really friendly and you are always made to feel welcome. Nice patio terrace by the river and conservatory for all weathers. Good choice of drinks to suit all tastes and open until 12am. A must visit when visiting the area.
G. S.
Lovely old pub overlooking the Thames. Staff were friendly and meal delicious. Will be visiting more often
m. t.
Much improved excellent riverside dining and a great drinks selection. Well worth a visit.
P. L.
Nice little Fullers pub next to the Thames. Food is very tasty here but you do pay a bit more than usual for a pub. Has log fire in the winter and great outdoor seating in the summertime right on the river. Best pub in the area.
M. w.
Had a wonderful day at Twickenham and then found this gem next to the Thames. The staff are amazing. Lovely food and great beer. Relaxing time then short walk back to hotel. We'd certainly recommend this pub for its atmosphere and great personal service.
D. W.
Awesome, simply awesome.
A warm welcome, super food and wine choice.
Great interaction with staff.
Will return soon.
D.
Lovely Riverside pub. Get there early or reserve as good weather days are packed!

The thing is with a pub that serves traditional food is that it can be difficult for it to stand out - thankfully, The Bell & Crown maintain a flair that makes the experience uniquely delicious. I like to order a burger when trying a pub for the first time because while it's a safe option, it always has the potential to blow you away and this was a really delicious one. I wish it had been sunny when I went, because the outside area is lovely, overlooking the Kew Bridge bit of the Thames.
C. W.
Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent location, good price. Recently discovered and plan to go most weeks when the Rugby is in town........
R. G.
By far the best pub in the area, great service and perfect riverside terrace
A. L.
The friendliest pub we've been to. Overlooking the river with a private terrace and a good food menu, you will love the landlady Geraldine, especially if you are Irish or Italian. We hosted our wedding party there a few weeks ago and we could not have chosen a better place: the service was great, the food superb and they actually gave us a whole area (including reserving the terrace) for free. Other pubs asked us a ridiculous fee. Plus side: dogs are welcomed.
N. N.
The food here is delicious, a couple of members of staff are amazing, and they are a dog friendly pub, even in the restaurant, but the prices are phenomenal (especially the onion and tomato salad which at £3.50 should have more than just 1.5 tomatoes and a sprinkle of onion!!).
Almost gave 2 stars as the veggie selection is poor - last time i was here there were 2 veg options (one up from the time before at least), but one of them wasn't available. When i asked if there was anything else the waitress rudely said i could have 2 starters - because i hadn't thought of that/have had to do the same in other pubs - I expected more of a posh grub pub!!
Location and pub itself are amazing - have a pint along the river YES, but won't be doing boxing day and birthday meals here again.
J. A.
Great food, lovely view of the river and fabulous service... Oh yes and the food was beautifully done.
25 of us, comfortably seated, all meals (pre-ordered,) were served on time and at good speed. My dry-aged hanger steak with Béarnaise sauce was wonderful, I'm really glad I ordered it. Thank you for your excellent service today as we celebrated our parent's 50th wedding anniversary.
M. G.
Good selection of beers and excellent quality food with pleasant views across the Thames. Prices are average for the area, however their service is outstanding. Always a friendly service here and in one case the food did take a while but they provided complimentary drinks for us without us even asking.
S. H.
Amazing pub with history, the staff are super nice, great service, dog friendly, beautiful view of the river and most importantly delicious food
D. P.
Absolutely love this pub, on a sunny day there is no finer place to be in London than sat in their beer garden, or on the tow path wall, watching the Thames roll by. Food is first rate and well priced for West London, and a full range of Fuller's ales (the brewery is about 2 miles up the Thames so it's as fresh as you'll get outside the Griffin Brewery).
Dogs are also welcome inside and out. Can highly recommend the burger or the chicken Kiev.
C. T.
We had a great lunch in the Bell & Crown, excellent pub food, very friendly service, spacious but warm interior and a fantastic location on the Thames. Not the cheapest but reasonable for the area and the quality. It's popular, and deservedly so.
I. S.
Very nice place, people, view, staff and beer selection.
S.
Food was good quality but small portions and pricey. Additional service charge of 12.5% too much and didn't feel like optional. However service was good so paid it just don't like the fact that it is auto included.
P. M.
Lovely pub fantastic setting great selection of beers and food highly recommend
O. K.
Great pub, Old on the outside but pretty modern inside. Excellent service and very tasty food. Dogs are welcome, which is unusual, and there were some friendly big one walking around. Was there in Winter but summer on the river must be fantastic.
U. C.
Just had drinks. Pleasant view of river. Order by phone. It was empty. Service prompt. Lots of hand sanitizer available.
D. I.
These days a terrace overlooking the outside tables would make all the difference between three pubs on the Strand. One has to get used to the one way system and QR codes.
B. O. H.
We are from the North of England and loved the food and atmosphere
S. M.
Have had dinner here a few times now and I've never had a bad experience or anything to complain about. Great setting on the river. Always amazing food. Staff always happy to accommodate.
C. J.
Located on strand on the green, with a terrace that looks over the thames, this pub seems like a little bit of countryside in the city
Recently nominated as one of Fuller's best pubs, their staff not only know the locals but make a huge and continued effort to make sure everyone feels at home
Pub decor and comfort cant be faulted, especially the fire in the winter.
Sunday roast is well worth the trip
A. W.
Our absolute favourite pub in London. We discovered it on a random walk by the Thames, and have since moved to Chiswick, delighted to be within walking distance of this inviting place. Idyllic location on the river. Never had a bad meal here and the portions are enormous. Their soups of the day are amazing without fail, especially on a cold winter's evening. Dog-friendly to boost :)
A. G.
Excellent staff and a really nice place for lunch... Perfect for our family get together.. Thanks
P. S.
Always enjoy heading down to the river, and rewarding oneself with a little tipple at the Bell & Crown
D. K.
At a very busy Friday night, the service was excellent, the food was great - steak and ale pie with mash was generous and very tasty- and the atmosphere very friendly - loved the fact that dog owners could have their dogs inside. Location is a super plus - by the river - so what else to ask for...
L. D.
Fantastic food, service and setting. Staff are charming and very efficient. A genuine welcome in a super old pub by the riverside.
C. T.
Great food, great ambience, reasonable prices, loved it
O. B.
We came here for dinner as a large group (pre-booked). Our table wasn't ready at the set time, but I understand this can happen on a Saturday. When we were seated it took a very long time for the waiter to take our for drinks orders - 20 mins to half hour. We had to call him over as he was serving anyone but us. Same thing happened with our food orders, we saw people who had just come in get served while we still sat there hungry. Two members of our party ordered lamb and were told a few minutes later that the kitchen had ran out of lamb. At 6:30pm on a Saturday this was quite surprising. The food itself was nice although definitely overpriced in many cases, I think you pay predominently for the location as the pub is right on the Thames. We had a 5 year old with us and her order from the kids menu (sausages and chips) was undercooked and had to be sent back to put back in the oven. All in all the evening was fine, but I wouldn't return for food here. A drink during the summertime perhaps, but there are equally picturesque pubs further down the Thames with better service and cheaper prices.
B. S.
A strategically placed public house that also offers a food menu complimented by the friendly staff and congenial atmosphere. Even though I didn't have an opportunity to have food we took advantage of the external river side seating to the rear from an equally pleasant option of patio or conservatory seating. A dog friendly establishment with a well lit ambient river side view which seems great for friends, family or whiling away a summer evening with your partner.
P. B.
Lovely pub, by the river Thames, good food. Ideal location also because you can have a long walk by the river.
A. K.
Even on a busy Saturday with no reservation they were happy to accomodate us, and they were helpful with trying to find dairy free alternatives for me on the menu. There were a couple of dairy free options on the menu, but I wanted the burger so they changed the bun for a dairy free foccacia, which was actually really nice. The view from the pub is lovely, overlooking River Thames, and in the summer you can sit outside too.
l. c.
One of my favourite riverside pubs 👍
A. T.
We celebrated my birthday here. Lucy was helpful and accommodating with the arrangements. The service was excellent and the food was great. I will recommend this place with a lovely setting and magnificient views over the Thames River.
R. D.
Excellent service. Fresh food. Nice view. Well worth the visit.
B. D.
The Bell & Crown is a lovely pub to go to at strand on the green w4. You get a prompt service and the staff are friendly. And Martin is a great landlord of the pub. I normally go here with my friend Simon. This pub has a good range of ales. And it does a great sunday lunch and it's delicious. Also this pub accepts the chiswick calendar club card which entitles you to 10% discount. Would highly recommend a visit to this public house.
A. M.
Beautifully set pub by the river Thames and gorgeous in the summer with the sun shining although it can be very busy with passersby. Lovely to have a relaxing pint and break up a river walk!
D. H.
Really nice friendly pub on the river. I found it a little too hot inside. But this may have been due to a 45 minute walk before hand. I will definitely go again.
K. S.
A cosy pub set on the River with friendly staff, loads of atmosphere and above all exceptional food
Best duck spring rolls and lamb mains I've had anywhere. Inventive and great quality ingredients for a reasonable price. What a find.
L. S. S. M.
A traditional pub overlooking the bank of the Thames.
Warm atmosphere, delicious recipes, welcoming staff...
What more could you want?
N. G.
One of my favourite pubs in the UK, no question. Great location, excellent food and really friendly staff. The pub is exceptionally well run as well.
R. W.
Superb as always: a lovely atmosphere, good food & drink, and Alex did a great job looking after us. We are lucky to have this pub as our 'local' - it's one of the best in London!
O. S.
One of three gastro pub on this part of the Thames bank, and bit cheaper one amonsgst them. Friendly staffs deliever fairly typical range of gastro pub dishes according to the fashion of the day; hearty, satisfying and reliable. Lovely conservatory with the river view and extra terrace sitting outside onto the river bank.
Will get packed on a nice sunny weekends, and booking a table is a must if you want a roast lunch on sunday.
N. M.
Great pub on the river with excellent food, great selection of Fullers beer and friendly staff.
A. D. (.
Gin & tonic are a bit step here but pint of Guinness was not to bad. The river side views is beautiful so make sure to grab those seat if you can. They make some tasty fish & chips that my co-workers and I could stop talking about.
R. O.
Always a great Sunday roast , this place gets rammed on Sundays and rightly so . Decent house wines and generous food portions . Team are always friendly despite being rushed off their feet .
D. F.
Just popped in to meet up with my friend and liked it straight away. A very friendly atmosphere and the menu looks good too. I will be coming back to try out the food so it might get 5 🌟.
B. D.
Had a late lunch with a friend on a very hot day. Service was excellent despite being very busy, but the fish and chips was not. Fish very dry and chips a little on the dark side. Chicken keiv was similarly dry and the inner sauce the same.
C. B.
Staff were great, made sure we were happy with everything and made the effort to move us when we weren't happy where we were sitting. Food was cooked brilliantly although an additional roastie would have been great. Will definitely be my local.
A. D. F. T.
One of these spots, that will remain long in your memory. Vue from the pub.
J.
Been a semi regular here for the past 6 years. Lovely pub with great views of the Thames with tasty food and most importantly helpful and friendly staff.
Well worth a visit at any time of the year.
A. W.
Busy riverside pub, great pint of Pride (should be as it is only a mile from the brewery) above average menu. Lovely outside when the sun is out, warm log fire in the winter.
L. F.
Went in for a quick bit of lunch, the service was good but it did seem it took a while for the food to come out and it was not to busy on a Monday lunchtime. Lovely location by the river.
C. S.
Very nice food and some good London Pride. Service was pleasant and quick.
V. J.
I enjoyed this place. The decor is smart, staff friendly and it's a dog friendly pub along the river. The only shame for me was the limited food options - please add at least one vegan & gluten free (at the same time) food option to the menu
S. O.
Brilliant food, drink and service..
O. M.
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The waiting staff were very attentive and fun. Great selection of beers and mains on the menu. Perfect location by the river
P. B.
Lived just 3 minutes walk away some years ago. It's still so good especially after a recent refurbishment that we still call in or take friends whenever we visit West London. It's a must go to place especially if you don't like the usual national fair.
C. D.
Logistically right beside the river near Kew Bridge....
I arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon on my own and was accommodated within a few mins. I was able to enjoy the roast lamb meal I wanted......lovely food & fab service!
S. D.
Had a lovely meal, overlooking the river. Great service. Recommend.
V. T.
Just show up, the place serves great food, cold beers and the good times...service is super friendly and the ambience is really cozy
A. H.
I previously gave this 5 stars. Relatively recently, a new landlady has taken over. Needs to connect with locals more. Very empty most evenings now. Why on earth don't they publicise the river location more? Look at their photos of their own pub. None even show the river. Painful to see how badly marketed this pub is. Great location, could be great, but try the City Barge just along the river to see how right they have got it and how busy they are as a result. I really want the Bell and Crown to achieve what it so easily could.
N. K.
Friendly service if a bit crowded!
A. H.
Food, service and location are perfect. Even on a miserable day lunch by the river is a nice touch
G. S.
2 Fullers pubs within spitting distance of each other. Not sure if this has damaged trade for both parites but was a stunning hot day and the place was not busy at all. A typical example of the more old fashioned Fullers pub (this is not a bad thing by the way). Beer was good. A bit pricey but you would probably expect that down by the river.
S. H.
Great place to eat, food was lovely, nice to look out over the river.
M. S.
Good beer and a nice atmosphere.
F. S.
Nice place to stop for a drink (we didn't have and food this time). Friendly staff. Outside space is a bit more spacious than the pubs further down.
J.
Ale is always in great condition. Far too pricey though, sad but cannot afford to drink here regularly. Food is superb with good vegan selection.
V. P.
Delicious Sunday roast!! Excellent service.
K. T.
Very nice pub and they way they serve their drinks is fab. However, my friend and I ordered 2 desserts which cost £15! My friend had the Eton mess which was mostly cream and not much meringue/strawberry, I ordered the waffle which was obviously out of a packet and not even warm, with a very small scoop if ice cream. I don't mind paying these prices but the desserts have to be incred
ible and not leave you disappointed and upset for the money I wasted. Will be back for drinks but how Fullers get away with this pricing amazes me. I remember when Fullers grub was all freshly prepared.
Not sure how to respond to owner but my waffle was not freshly prepared. For £7.50 it needs to come from a waffle maker not a packet.
A. S.
Lovely situation by the river. Busy, excellent food and beer
D. B.
Great pub staying in kew for the rugby so had dinner there last night, it was so good we went back for breakfast this morning. Served by Alex great service very attentive and a nice guy to boot...
J. F.
Excellent place for pub lunch or dinner.....food & service was excellent. Goo range of beer on tap available as well. Very nice location too!
M.
Have come here a couple of times after being at Kew Gardens. Super lovely service and great food hidden along the Thames. Always worth the journey!
K. S.
Lovely pub with a great position on the river. The staff were amazing at accomodating us and our Christmas party. The good was great and we had a really enjoyable evening.
A. M.
Good local pub with lovely views over the river, friendly staff and tasty food. Inside and exterior seating. Family and dog friendly
P. W.
Great little pub by river Thames at historic Strand on the Green. Attractive spot. Always popular especially in hot weather. Good choice of food and drink.
R. W.
I love this place, especially river view. Food is excellent and staff always there to help.
M. J.
Lovely chilled atmosphere. Cosy log fire. Child and dog friendly. Delicious food and great selection of beer and wine. All with a spectacular view of the river. Highly recommended.
C. C.
Fantastic pub with a superb view by Kew bridge. All four of us had the roast lamb, which ranks amongst the best pub roasts I've had. Good service too
C. B.
Was asked by management why only 3stars. Good pub , but second best on that stretch of River. City Barge better. Service slow but polite. More food options for vegan and vegitarian
R. V.
This is the best pub by far, excellent friendly staff, warm atmosphere, always get a booking even if we have not booked. The staff go out of their way to help you.keep up the great work, we will keep on coming again and again.👍
E. E.
Pleasant experience every time, highly recommend it.
J. J.
We had a wonderful sunday lunch at the Bell & Crown. Kind, friendly, staff, and lovely food. The outlook onto the river, and the easy going ambience was a sheer delight. Well done!
J. B.
We love our local Pub. Book in advance
P. W.
Visited the Bell +Crown first time since lockdown-booked a table for 4 -the food and service was first class -could not recommended this place more highly
S. A.
Great food and atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff.
S.
They have a great selection of beer and ales on tap and good food. Family friendly. On the side of the river. Go there very often on sunny weekends.
T. F.
Great pub, right on the water. Friendly staff and good Sunday roast. Not the best I've had, but certainly good enough for me to be happy to return.
M. P.
Great location, best English breakfast ever. Lockdown is over, now it's to enjoy places like this one!!!
A. A.
Delicious Sunday roast. Extremely tasty. Good portions. Friendly helpful staff. Melt in the mouth brownies. Lovely spot overlooking the river.
A. R.
Nice pub by the river in Chiswick. A Fuller's so the beer is ok but the food is very good. Lovely on a warm day equally good on a cold winter day for a roast.
A. H.
Great pub right on the banks of the Thames. Get a pint and sit outside watching the sun set over Kew Bridge. What could be nicer. Friendly landlady Fiona and certainly worth a visit.
P. M.
Really nice staff and food was great
B. A.
Delightful atmospheric Pub with great friendly warm atmosphere & welcoming ambience - feel really 'at home' & welcome the moment you enter. Come early to find a seat - & then you won't want to leave! 🙂
B. R.
Nice pub, with pretty good river views. Very pleasant afternoon with a pint and watching the rowers hard at work
A. B.
I love this place. The ambiance is great, it welcomes every one from people who just want have a drink with their friends to those who would like to eat.
T. K.
Great local pub, the best on this stretch of the Thames. Friendly service and excellent food with a great view. Wines are fine, beers are Fullers, so also fine.
J. J.
I hadn't been to this pub for a while and was really impressed with the quality of the food.
Beer prices were cheaper than the norm in Chiswick and they have a decent selection.
Kids really enjoyed their meal.
R. R.
Fantastic pub by the river. The food is OK! Don't expect gastropub quality. Definitely a nice place to do people watching and look at the river flowing...
N.
Really decent fish and chips and the service was great too.
V. K.
Lovely relaxed safe distanced meal, with friends, outside by the river. Delicious; friendly service.
C. E.
Great service, food and well priced always consistent. A real winner
K. S.
Lovely riverside pub. A few tables out the front overlooking the river. Perfect on a nice day! The inside is cosy for those not so nice days too
H. B.
Good pub restaurant. Good location on the river Thames. Good food and friendly service. Can get busy and noisy at times. Excellent dinner venu.
N. D.
Classic riverside pub with a long history. The staff and food are wonderful on our visit. Great selection of the pub favourites and vegetarian selection that is better than most.
A. B.
Simply love this pub!
C. C.
One queue (on Thames Road) for ordering a pint, one queue to collect. Easy and drank on the grass by the river. Quick service and good social distancing.
T. P.
Despite the waiter's doing his best to make our visit pleasant the burgers were dry, tasteless and slow to arrive. By the way it does not mention on the menu that Frontier beer is a lager.
S. B.
Wonderful place to come for a pint on the river.
The food is also surprisingly good and goes well beyond normal pub fare. Lovely place really!
M. B.
Always have a great meal here, staff are always friendly too. Fuller's pub, so the choice of drinks is also very decent!
B. S.
Great pub with the best beers on the Thames. Food is always good quality, great quantities and reasonably priced. Staff are exceptionally well trained and managed.
C. G.
BEST PUB IN THE AREA. Great food + drink and the staff are fantastic. Always happy 🙂
Super dog friendly aswell 🐶
P. M.
Huge recent makeover has transformed this lovely old strand in the green pub into a stylish venue. Great indoors and outdoors. Buzzy and right by the Thames.
C. B.
On the edge of the Thames, fantastic location and equally fantastic staff so give it a try. Lovely warm interior as well it really is a gem. Make an effort and detour to give it a try.
O. N.
Nice riverside views, book ahead to get a window seat.
F. M.
super and affordable sunday roasts! friendly staff and service. highly recommended for families. good ambiance, next to thames and good selection of food and drinks.
P. C.
Great pub on the River Thames, the pub sells quality meals and snacks and has a large seating area inside and outside thought there maybe a problem with access for wheel chair and prams at the main entrance off the Thames side of the building. Not 100% sure if there was an alternative access at the rear of the pub .
A. H.
Staff are always so welcoming, especially Fiona. Food is incredible too. Gorgeous view on a sunny day and nice and cosy when its not!
J. L.
Blackened salmon with a spicy twist and cold beer for this pub with a view over the Thames. Perfect service as well.
M. L. S.
Can't get more "on the river" than this pub, with River Thames literally lapping at the steps.
P. K.
If I could've given you 3.5 I would of, but you really need a Disabled Toilet in your pub, tell Fullers it's needed.
S. M.
Amazing place, our local, we eat here every week at least once and love the staff and it’s probably our favourite place in London - but it’s such a shame the blue LED Christmas lights pierce your eyes and really kill the warmth of the candles that makes this place so cosy
P. A.
This is the best of the 3 s-o-t-g riverside pubs with a lovely landlady and a locals feel to the place. My only fault as with the other two pubs is the pubs signs have all been changed recently to cheap looking signs , gone the arty painted signs.
D. K.
after work dinner down by the Thames...nothing special, food was okay, service okay. Nothing really special.
O. Y.
We come here for a drink every Sunday. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. A perfect spot outside by the river in summer and cosy and warm inside in winter.
E. C.
Great place, felt really good been there. Complement to the chef, good combinations of flaivours. Thank's Martin and team for a hosting us.
J. S.
Great view and service.
Pints at £6.60 is a bit over priced though.
P. W.
My favourite pub in London. Amazing service and waiters ,delicious and divine food and a lovely view of the river.
M. G.
Lovely food friendly staff and a great view.

Lovely pub that has the new Covid rules applied without ruining the pub experience, good beer and food, staff were great. Back soon
D. S.
The atmosphere is great, both staff and customers are very friendly, its dog friendly, and the the food is great. Bonus it's right on the river.
M. W.
Great location next to the river with great relaxing views, attentive service, excellent range of food, reasonable prices.
G. R.
A good traditional pub with wonderful river views. We enjoyed lunch and several pints of Fuller's beer.
K. H.
Went with a group for lunch. Excellent food, wine and service. Thoroughly recommend the steak and ale pie.
J. E.
Great in the summer to sit outside and watch the events on the river, cosy and warm in the winter with open fires. Great food & beer all year. Well done....!
J. C.
Fantastic food and a good bar. Located on the riverside it's lovely for an afternoon lunch with the sun beaming.
J. W.
Nice enough for a drink - but the food isn't good. Most of it is pre-cooked and reheated and tastes like something you'd not wanna eat from a hospital canteen.
T. B.
Great location, gets busy, food not bad but nothing special. Service good. Can reserve tables
D. L.
Lovely lamb chops meal. Nice atmosphere. Very good pub...London Pride ..over looking Thames
F. i. h. w.
Old pub = great atmosphere. Nice view on the Thames. Great food. Lovely service.
A. S.
Great location on the river. Very friendly and helpful staff and really good food, wines and beers, we will definitly be back.

A great place to have a pint by the river on a sunny summer evening, but also warm and cozy near the fire for a dinner during winter.
N. L.
Staff were friendly. The food was good. Right by the river so on a nice day it's great to sit outside.

S. N.
Love this place! Such a cosy, warm and welcoming Fullers pub. Staff are very friendly and helpful too.
P. R.
Great beer and service
D. C.
Really nice pub right on the River Thames. Great food and reasonably priced. Great to sit on the banks of the Thames in the sun.
D.
Overpriced and overcrowded and also closes bizarrely early (11pm at the weekend). But it is in a location to die for and the staff and food seem ok. Just expect to part with lots of money for your food.
R. C.
A great selection of food, particularly vegetarian options and a lovely riverside location make this an excellent place to visit in the summer or winter.
A. C.
Good pub with great river views. Very popular to get there early to get the good seats.
D. L.
Not a great bit of the Thames to overlook so disappointing in that regard
K. T.
Best pub on the river in Chiswick. It's laid back and has a nice family feel to it. They also do really good burgers.
J. C.
Lovely pub on the river allways busy so make sure you book if you want to eat.
J. B.
Lovely outside seating with amazing view of the river. Service and food were good.
M. I.
Lovely pub on the bank of Thames - very pleasant environment. I have not tried the food, but it looked great.
E. (.
Nice food, good view. After a lunch you can have a nice walk on a riverside :)
K. S.
Sharing platters are really good, ordered both with a side of fries and chips, and was a perfect stop-gap for four of us 😃
I. S.
Excellent service and delicious food. Thank you
J. T.
Such a friendly pub the staff are amazing it's a great location and the food is wonderful
M. A.
Very good beer, great Sunday roast, service is good, and I love to sit by the river when the weather is nice!
D. V.
Very nice riverside pub. Amazing food, but I shouldn't have said that.
L. S.
Sunday lunch was a bit stingy for the price, 2 small slices of beef, 2 small uncrispy roast potatoes, bulked up with average veg and a Yorkshire pudding harder than concrete, not worth £17.00
J. W.
Great food, fabulous views of the Thames, superb atmosphere. Great customer service & extremely dog friendly!
N. D. M.
Decent roast, new sitting areas, great staff, good vibes. A bit pricey for a student though 😢
E.
Nice place, fantastic atmosphere friendly staff and good food. Beers bit overpriced. Highly recommended
M. C.
Best Pub food on the Strand on the green. Fish and chips is simply delicious and the view gorgeous.
S. B.
