Reviews of The Black Heart
S. P.
Great wee rock boozer tucked just by World's End. The staff were attentive and lovely. The other patrons were all good humoured and I didn't see any agro. Popped upstairs for the Jazz/ reggae bands. Nice surprise.
Will definitely pop back here.
N. D.
Great representative of Camden town!Great pub!Amazing music,if you gamer and play life is strange and life is strange:before the storm or life is strange:true colors, you will fell exactly same vibe, rock and indie rock small city in big city!small radio station, amazing staff member with great taste and always happy to advice! Great choice of beers!
M. B.
Pub looks like a good one, but I was here for a gig upstairs. Small but loud. As December Falls
H. P.
Black Heart is one of the less well hidden secrets of Camden. An iconic place for regulars that may be missed by the casual visitor to the area. It is an always pleasant old school metal bar, with a selection of craft beer, good music and a great live music venue on the upper floor (closed at the moment, I think...). Well worth the visit when in Camden and looking for a genuine metal environment with a chilled friendly approach and good drinks and music.
C. F.
Undoubtedly London's best rock pub. Excellent music that doesn't repeat on each visit. Incredible rotating craft beer selection, that are all reasonably priced, especially given touristy location. Live music on first floor can be heard from above, but that just adds atmosphere. Toilets are famously gross but worth enduring if you want to listen to quality rock music whilst drinking tasty beer.
U. S.
Good😴 place.. So peace but.... Even staff are friendly
O. M.
The Black Heart is easily one of the best pubs in Camden. The staff are super professional and friendly. We played a show there and honestly one of the best experiences ever.
L. O.
It's always a great time here. Classic metal pub with good company and great music, all the usual drinks you'd expect. Unlike other venues, there was actually enough seating too! The loos are pretty grim, but that's exactly what I'd expect at my local.
A. M.
Cool chilled out rock bar. Great open warehouse space, very good selection of beers and ales, including guest casks.
Very friendly hard working staff who provided a quick service.
L. t.
Great metal or rock bar. Some real good beers on tap. Need to return at night sometime
P. W.
Fantastic rock & metal pub, with small concert venue upstairs. The rock posters on the wall are a testament to the many great gigs performed here & the decor tends to dark and gothic. Great range of beers, competitively priced for the area & great staff. Often very busy weekends and evenings. The toilets are...well you can discover them yourself!
N. M.
Decent beer selection, good rock pub, pinball machines were fun, though maybe offer WiFi as to use the pinball machine payment app you need signal, which was spotty in the pub.
l.
Awesome rock bar in Camden! Live music upstairs! Great drinks and friendly staff! Great fun place!
H.
Great place for fans of rock or metal music, I will always stop in here on a night out in Camden. The only downside is it's very dark so not always the best for socialising.
L. t.
Great metal or rock bar. Some real good beers on tap. Need to return at night sometime
S. c.
Good place, slow ambience, not the best place to be on a weekday, weekends are lit though. Also there are no appetizers only bar gratis..
H. E.
My kind of pub. Loud kickass music, dark, gloomy, inviting, good drinks, nice staff, great crowd of folk who love music. I'll be back again and again. And again. Bring ear plugs or be ready to have your socks rocked off.
c.
The place is really nice and the staff is so friendly that I want to make this pub my regular pub even thought it’s far from where I live. 100 out of 10 !!!
b. c.
Great atmosphere in this brilliant bar. Excellent staff. Went upstairs to watch some bands including Primitive Knot and Rainbow Grave -- great atmosphere and huge sound in a relatively small space led to an excellent gig experience. #primitiveknot @primitiveknot
R. B.
Great pub on quiet road 1 min from tube. 'metal' pub but all welcome. Great staff and a Decent pint.
Check for opening times and well worth a visit even to look at the interior.
R. P.
Round the corner from Camden Town tube so easy to get to. Reasonable selection of drinks and plenty of seating.
Music room upstairs with emphasis on stoner rock, hard rock, industrial dance etc. so bring earplugs. Great sound and small bar too in music room.
S. C.
Great pub and small upstairs venue. no cloakroom so keep that in mind had a great time with friendly staff, playing a lot of classic metal
J. W.
Great pub and music venue. Great range of beers (no real ale). Prices are a bit high, but it is London. Staff are great.
F. O.
Pretty dark interiors and good venue upstairs with the loudest sound system: stay on the right hand side of the stage for a more balanced sound. Only flaw: pints are quite expensive. Unisex toilets
L. R.
Gorgeous rock venue with a bar stocked with the most unique alcohols. First time visiting but certainly won't be my last!
W. K.
I just love this place with all its darkness. Experience in its own rights. Feels like last bit of old Camden is still surviving. Like a beating heart.
G. R.
A great music venue with friendly, helpful staff, a good selection of drinks, and a relaxed and happy clientele. The Black Heart is a real gem in Camden's live music scene.
U. S.
Good😴 place.. So peace but.... Even staff are friendly
I. M.
Great pub with a nice selection of beers. Lovely small music venue upstairs.
J. C.
Loved the ambience here. Dark and dim with nice rock music for background noise. The staff are friendly and the make really good drinks! Will visit again for sure.
S. R.
Great bar, fab venue. Watched Kip Winger here & had a great night
v. m.
Excellent beer selection.
Music too loud to allow conversations.
Wifi not available
E.
Tucked away but lovely place this, beer range is great, music top notch
S. B.
Love the music and the atmosphere, their beer is quite nice, very dark and tasted of coffee, you must try that!
R. T.
Unique and has good vibes but very dark and hurt my eyes. I would love to have spent more time with there if it wasn't so painfully dark 💔
S. W.
Upstairs is a great little garage like space of sweaty fun. Good drinks options and friendly staff. Extra star for humorous toilet graffiti.
J. A.
Loved the music, nice cold variety of beers! good place , great music!
A. F.
Great first gig back after restrictions lifted. Pub is so dark and lives up to its name. Heavy rock/metal haven loved it
A. R.
Quality Rock / Goth pub round the back of downtown Camden. Friendly crowd, very good beer and live music. Dark and moody inside. Very atmospheric.
Can't think of a single thing wrong all told. Head on down.
n. p.
Good music, friendly staff and great atmosphere
Black Heart embodies what Camden used to be. A far cry from a tourist spot or heavily packed commuter pubs, Black Heart makes you feel like you're a regular from the second you walk into the unsuspecting pub
Will definitely be back
H. S.
Expensive but good craft beer in a place with a great atmosphere. The major drawback is that the mixed toilets are pretty horrible. Upstairs is a venue for gigs or standup which has a can bar.
E. P.
Punk rock isn't really my thing but the pub has its own personality with really friendly staff which was cool
C. B.
I attended a concert there. The venue is very small, so you have a real connection with the artist playing. The sound was maybe not excellent, but I guess this is as much as you can get in such a small venue.
The staff seemed very nice to me, and I really enjoyed my time here!
A. V.
Saw my favourite band from the 90s play live a few weeks ago. It was amazing. The crowd is always cool people. Never had a bad night here.
N. G.
First time back since the renovation and glad to say, the black heart is truly darker and blacker. It has a rock vibe while still maintaining an almost cult status as a leading Camden Metal bar with ease. Always enjoy my times here and always glad to come back. You could say it's cosy place for the Black Hearts we have!
O. C.
Really nice place and the concerts are geat
M. C.
Fab pub & & gig venue, will definitelyook for more gigs at this venue.
C. G.
Great selections of drinks, nice staff and cool music.
U. B.
Really great bar for any lovers of metal, rock and punk rock music. Great door staff as well. Only person I didn’t like in the staff was this tall German lady bartender who was always very cold and unpleasant. Also gave me a double gin and tonic with no gin. Thankfully her colleague was nice enough to get it changed for me.
E. V.
Love this bar! Good music, good drink selection and friendly staff.
D. C.
I will try to make this as short as possible, dark, friendly psycho Billy, on top of everything great selection of beers and devils kitchen , look for no more if those words mean anything to you, and you are in Camden town
J. M.
Great music, great beer, what more could you want?
D. E.
Full of people dressed in black. Cool place with some nice beers. Off the beaten track. Good music too. I'll be back.
N. R.
Spacious backstreet boozer with authentic dive-bar vibe, serving multiple keg beers and an extensive bottle list. A Pool table and live music room add to the rocking atmosphere.
C. M.
This is what dive bars should be! Friendly, no attitude, a great place to hang out.
C. C.
Great bar, and a nice intimate venue.
Z. P.
Great beer selection and awesome music.
Pinball machines also amazing recent addition
I. C. F.
Loved this bar so much I bought there tshirt!
T. J.
Best metal bar in London, period. Very well organised for social distance gigs and have a decent beer selection, all around bad-assery
J. N.
My favourite metal place in London. Great staff, great beer, including some local classics and some mikkeller and imports; decent selection of spirits and even some cocktails if you feel fancy sometimes. As inclusive as it gets, you get from straight punk to grind core with even some country and rock in the afternoons, definitely not the kind of place that just has iron maiden and Metallica on loop.also big promoters of smaller bands and the local scene. Great place to be left alone and make friends too. What's not to love? Smoking area outside, gigs upstairs. Did coronavirus opening the best way I've seen it in London too.
C. C.
Great for music, beer and a bloody goo weekend!
S.
This intimate music venue only has a capacity of about 100, meaning you're never far from whoever it is you're watching. Despite its small size, the sound is very good, and the arctic air conditioning is an absolute godsend during the summer. Nice drinks at the bar too, and well-priced for the area.
L. a. R.
Great venue for live music as far as sound and lighting goes. Could definitely do with some more air con at the front as it gets incredibly warm. Another star lost for the bar service as well. Second time I've been here and on both occasions the service is unforgivably slow. With a £4 house single spirit, and a packed bar, it would be much better if they put on more staff. Other smallish venues are cheaper (although I appreciate Camden isn't the cheapest place to set up shop) and with better service.
R. S.
Grungy, dirty but with the welcoming charm of a small town bar.
The black heart is a great pub with a laid back but brooding alternative feel and aesthetic. With a upstairs gig room that often hosts some great gigs that harp back to the old school underground thrash gigs of the 80's.
Only let down is the cleanliness and state of the toilets. None the less a must for any lover of music or the alternative.
B. E.
A popular pub with gothic artefacts, subdued lighting. Hosts a popular music venue upstairs. Drinks at reasonable prices for London.
f.
Brilliant gig venue when the bands are as kicking as D.I. & DSA so much dancing at The Black Heart
P. W.
Awesome pub, always a great night!
B. M.
Absolutely fantastic metal pub with some great bands.
P.
Staff were friendly, beer was good! Loved the vibe in here
I. A.
This was my first time going to this place, although it is meant to be a famous one.
Easy access to get to from the Camden underground station, The Black Heart is a rock/metal pub, with a nice selection of beers. The price of the beers is London standard.
The place is dark and it is possibly packed on Saturdays. When I went there was a really good stoner rock gig. You could buy the tickets in advance or at the door upstairs (don't know if only cash or not).
Really loved this place. Would go back.
K. M.
This place is awesome! Dark, moody but full of life. The staff are awesome and keep the fun going. We will be back! :)
P. B.
Great rock bar with variety of beers on tap. Decent little live music venue upstairs
A. A.
Went last week-end, it was pretty cool. Decent choice of beers, affordable prices, polite bouncers and nice music. I didn't go upstairs so I don't know the concert venue. Bathrooms weren't my favourite part tho - but we didn't come for the bathrooms, not a big deal.
S. L.
Good and unique beer selection. Pizza was very tasty, good crust and sauce, high quality toppings. Was asked to tell the internet if we ended up enjoying the food, so here I am. Music was a bit loud so I'll take one star off for the venue overall, but that just comes down to personal preference. It definitely positions itself as a bar that has loud music playing, so that was pretty much expected.
A. Q.
Tucked away down a dingy alley in the heart of Camden, you really have to know about this place first before coming here, you're not likely to just walk past it which is good, keeps the riffraff away. A nice dingy local for nice moody metal folk, really good beer selection and they have a good space upstairs for gigs and metal yoga on Saturdays. Music does get a bit loud for conversation later in the evening. Finally, the bathrooms. They really need some love, I sort-of like the unisex bathroom idea but the problem is most guys don't have the same etiquette as ladies. The result is the bathrooms often being a mess in the evening and some of the toilets don't have seats from what I observed last time.
D. N.
Poor choice of lagers, plenty of IPA's, service not consistent.
H. A.
The Black Heart is my favourite bar on earth. Good tunes, good brews, great staff, iconic. J'adore.
P. W.
Great pub in a slightly hidden location which means it's not as busy as it should be.
Great selection of beers and spirits, not just the usual selection.
Went to a gig upstairs and the room is a decent size, not too big, great for a punk gig which really suits the theme in general.
s. m.
Staff are fantastic very helpful and friendly would definitely recommend this place
M. M. (.
Proper rock and metal bar.
f.
Brilliant gig venue when the bands are as kicking as D.I. & DSA so much dancing at The Black Heart
M. M.
Good pub. Had a nice Bluemoon beer with orange.
D. C.
I will try to make this as short as possible, dark, friendly psycho Billy, on top of everything great selection of beers and devils kitchen , look for no more if those words mean anything to you, and you are in Camden town
A. D.
Great atmosphere, Tommy p served us with great customer service and amazing up selling
S. H.
A most excellent experience of exuberant inebriation as expected.
C. M.
The hand soap smells like coconut
J. K.
Proper Rock pub with gig venue upstairs. Does what it says on the tin!
Hidden away down a side street, can’t believe I’ve not found it before. Music for live gigs is super load above so think about your ears if you want to continue listening for life! They do sell little ear plugs.
K. W.
Plays metal. Great crowd. Awesome live line-ups. One of my favourite places ever.
s. c.
Always love this place. Great atmosphere. Great gigs
M. T.
Still an awesome rock & metal hangout with great atmosphere, craft beers and friendly staff. 🤘
R. P.
Love this place. First time back for me since lockdown. All table service which was fast and easy.
Staff are brilliant there.
D. F.
Superb venue with Sanford red cider!
D. G.
One of my favourite pubs in Camden. It's an out and out rock and metal pub. Can get very busy on weekends, so if you want a table get there early. They have gigs and occasional comedy upstairs, great little venue. The toilets are gender neutral. Definitely somewhere to add to your regular drinking list.
A. M. A.
It's a great place to have some chilled drinks to the sound of (very loud but) good music. Staff is really nice, decor is cool and place is not too crowded most of the time. Toilets are like any toilets you can find in Camden but I've always found them (surprisingly) well supplied. Great tab beer too!
J. D.
Great bar tucked down a Camden side street, still gets crowded, but not with the usual Camden tourist crowd. Excellent rock music played and usually a decent set of local band playing upstairs. Great decor and a pool table. No phone signal once you're inside though, so make sure you know what's what with any fellow drinkers before entering... They also play the rugby on their few screens when it's on. My favourite afternoon pub and late night bar in Camden.
D. W.
Good beer selection, some very strong ones guesting occasionally. Minus one star for plastic cups. Good concert venue upstairs. Jukebox downstairs is rock and metal. Toilets are unisex cubicles.
D. H.
quite possibly the worst toilets i have EVER experienced
L. T.
Genuine rock bar that plays different genres even though metal is the most commonly. I could be wrong. Anyhow, great vibe, loud music, great beers and very nice and helpful staff. Due to it's location, it's not crowded with tourists, except those who are in fact looking for a great rock n roll bar and have done some research. Highly recommended if you're into rock/punk/metal.
G. G.
Fantastic night, fantastic venue. Get place to drink before the show & I was absolutely blown away by the band & how close we were to them even at the bar at the back of the room. Have recommended to anyone who will listen, and my wife & I will definitely be back!
K. K.
Great place, the beer selection is good although I've yet to find a good beer for myself. The toilets are always interesting, you'll know what I mean. And it's tucked away so it's not as busy or crowded as the world's end next door
M. V.
One of the best boozers in Camden, especially if you like metal and goth music. Great selection of beers too, with recent addition of good breweries such as Mikkeller. A must-visit!
A. J.
Great live music venue, go see a live band soon, and help keep these venues alive!
A. G.
Good, atmospheric venue for up-and-coming bands. Decent sound but limited views; would be nice if the stage could be made a bit higher. Reasonable bar prices for London.
C. N.
I bloody love The Black Heart. Staff are always friendly, they always have a good selection of beers on tap, play great music in the bar and book some amazing smaller metal bands for the upstairs gig room.
Also prices are pretty reasonable for London, certainly cheaper than the nearby World's End and Brewdog.
J. E. C. (.
Great venue and pub. Drinks and cider are amazing! Venue upstairs is really good. Only negative thing I have to say is the toilets are disgusting. I dont really mind being a bloke but didn't like my fiance to use them. Yeah gives me chills thinking about thoughts toilets 😖
j. t.
Great venue ,great gigs , friendly staff ,what more do you want
A.
Cool place to go for a drink because it isn't extremely full. Maybe it's because it's down a side alley so not many people will see it while passing by.
There's also a room upstairs for music performances. I was like and arrived on a night where the concert was free entry.
A. A. I.
Place is great.. music is great.. beers are great.. Everything is awesome as long as you don't need to go to the toilet.. it is hell! The smell of fresh and not only pee is all over the place, even when you pass from outside the toilets to go upstairs to the live... everytime that i have been there the same thing.. i doubt if the toilets are getting cleaned more than once per day..
S. D.
great selection of beer and ales from all over, great rock pub with quality bands on upstairs and burgers available from the kitchen. The only downside is that my pint cost a fiver, having said that it was a very nice pint and I'm sure that cheaper options were available. Overall, a cracking pub
S. B.
One of the very few non-mainstream pubs remaining in Camden. Good music, decent choice of beverages, and good atmosphere. Dirty and barely functional toilets (like all rock bars). On weekends it often gets too busy with too many chavs...it would make the place a lot more pleasant if this establishment brings in some door policy to stop large groups of them coming in. The other minor drawback is the difficulty of receiving phone signals in this building.
A. E.
Loads of great craft/niche beers on tap and an absolute load of bottles in the fridges. Food is nice, comfy booths if you can grab one. Pool table by the entrance too. Upstairs for the bands too if you're into the darker side of rock & metal music. Great little venue tucked around the back streets of Camden.
M. H.
We had a drink, but stepped outside to drink it as it was packed out! Seemed ok though. Then went to the Dualers after party upstairs which was great. DJ Ska n Mash owed the tunes. All in all a great evening.
C. A.
Always fun, good live music
A. M.
What a find! A fantastic venue for live music. Pub downstairs plays rock music and the bar staff are fantastic. Definitely coming back here to see more bands!
C. D.
Distilled essence of Camden. Quality beer selection, dim lighting, walls plastered with artwork, various punk/metal drifting (or hammering) over the sound system and a great, intimate upstairs venue for a variety of fantastic touring bands. Best rock bar in London by a stretch.
F. L.
Great rock bar in Camden, with stage upstairs with regularly playing rock and metal bands. Good selection of craft beers on tap and in bottle. Much better than the World's End around the corner.
D. S.
Exactly what you would expect from a Camden pub. It's got something the other side of rock playing, often has gigs and is loud and busy.
And let's admit it, it has a cool name.
There is a good range of beer, which ranges from London prices to extortionate, but worth exploring.
E. F.
A nice rock bar , a bit dark for my taste.
S. R.
Possibly the best spit and sawdust bar in Camden. By far. Not only do you have the choice of numerous real ales and general lager fare at the bar, they also host an eclectic array of music and renowned comedy in the upstairs room. They also serve delicious pub food. Should be on everyone's to-do-list for London.
c. t.
It's appeal is its own, love this place!
N. W.
It's easy to miss this place, due to it being located down a little alley that doesn't contain much else. Definitely worth a visit though - very convenient to Camden Town tube station, and an excellent selection of ales. As mentioned in other reviews, the styling of the place is dark and there will be loud (various genres of) rock playing, but if that bothered you then you probably wouldn't be in Camden in the first place...
T. N.
Absolutely love this pub. It's very small and "greebo" so gets packed quickly. Prices are average camden and they offer some lovely grub to match. Tiny venue upstairs - have seen a lot of little punk bands there.
L. L.
I love going here for great music and great beer. They even have have large sharer bottles if you fancy something special. Possibly the worst toilets in all of London?
A. M.
Genuine untouched, unspoilt and full of character. Only visited once during the day but would recommend. Good prices for Camden and I'm sure great night out. Would like to revisit again.
R. C.
Good enough place, same price as any london pub so nothing to complain about, not the best choice of beer but better than a lot of places, clean, nicely decorated (for a metal head like myself) heavier music and more real ale not "craft" beer would be 5 stars all day.
K. H.
Dark atmosphere but you get what you pay for
F. D.
The number 12 looks like you live @thablackheart
D.
Excellent toilet facilities
A. M.
My favourite place in Camden

This was my first time going to this place, although it is meant to be a famous one. …

Good, atmospheric venue for up-and-coming bands. Decent sound but limited views; would be nice if the stage could be made a bit higher. Reasonable bar prices for London.

No better place to go in Camden 🤘🏻
J. N.
My favourite metal place in London. Great staff, great beer, including some local classics and some mikkeller and imports; decent selection of spirits and even some cocktails if you feel fancy sometimes. As inclusive as it gets, you get …
V. N.
Good music and nice staff! One of the hidden gems of Camden.
S.
Good metal venue
C. H.
Great pub, tucked away not far from Camden Town tube station. Quiet when I called in but can highly recommend for the Hells lager from Camden Town brewery. Unisex toilets were a plus point to myself, as a trans woman it can be awkward sometimes.
R. M.
Awesome pub. Huge selection of good beer, pool table, good music (rock/metal mainly), friendly staff. Make a point of coming here if I'm in the area.
N. O.
Rock pub with a good selection of beer, great venue upstairs hosts gigs from local a touring acts with some big names having passed through. Working out what exactly is on the taps can be difficult in the gloom though.
R. C.
The Phil T's vegan menu is awesome! They play good music and put on good gigs upstairs, the atmosphere is cool but not pretentious. Their amaretto sours are also super tasty.
I. C.
Love rock music? Love it loud? Like to be surrounded by people that do? Then this place is for you. Good choice at the bar and friendly staff also helps make it a must visit.
C. M.
Emily was such a welcome presents, service us extremely quickly and had an amazing sense of humour <3 highly recommend to
J. A.
I love the Black Heart, it's my go too in Camden. It's dark and dingy and they play loud metal and have some awesome gigs upstairs.
P. H.
Very very good place; highly enjoyable and large selection of both crafty beer and rock / metal music. And exactly those two points are the utmost reasons to go into any bar!
J. A.
Rude doorman (on night of 24 June). Despite being a regular customer he wouldn't let me in just after 1am (it closes at 2). I was sober and calm and accepted this, but someone else tried to get in with his girlfriend and he started getting angry and aggressive. My friend then came to talk to me at the door and he tried to get rid of him for no reason. Strange guy.
Beers are a bit expensive too but there's a nice selection. Otherwise a cool venue with good music.
S. S.
A real gem tucked away just of the main shopping streets in Camden. Lots of local beers and lagers but the house cider is to die for. Mainly caters for the budding rock scene in the area but be assured no one is made to feel unwelcome.
L. K.
Came here for Desertfest (may not have realised it existed otherwise - down that little alley!) and loved the upstairs gig room. It is tight- you will get sweaty, people will spill drinks on you and you will spill your drink - be aware! The sound was fantastic for what we saw (a couple of high energy rock'n'roll bands) and the vibe was a friendly, community one. Downstairs they have booths and tables and a kitchen serving brisket rolls and other tasty BBQ things to go with your tasty beer. The beers they have on tap include a selection from Camden Town brewery so as you would expect, they are not cheap. There was also a Mezcal Bloody Mary on the menu which I will have to try next time! There are terrace type doors that open at the front of the bar, making it a nice open space - we will be back :)
R. C.
I played here last night... The staff were awesome really helpful.. The sound was great. It has become one of my favorite venues.. Would recommend seeing a band that you like here when ever possible
a. h.
Always a good night at The Black Heart. Friendly bar staff and excellent selection of metal. A must for any metalhead, feels like home.
A. E.
A small but very nice venue. I have been there a few times to see metal bands like Saturnus (Danish Doom Metal), Scarab (Egyptian Brutal Death Metal), ATVM and De Profundis (British Metal).
Sound isn't the best, perhaps because of the venue size. You get the best balanced sound if you stand in the middle. At the front, the lead guitar and singer's volume are low, at the back they're irritatingly high. They really need to work that out and it'll be a perfect venue for metal music.
N. D.
Quite a cool rock bar. Offered welcome shade and cold drinks on a hot summer day! Staff are friendly and helpful.
K. B.
Nice little venue, only problem was toilets said they were unisex and I could smell from outside door. Not sure if it was due to it being Camden rocks festival and it was busier than it would normally be
I. S.
The upstairs music venue is a dark, intimate setting with a lively vibe when full. The atmosphere in the bar is of a similar nature - cosy and rustic.
P. N.
Hole in the wall dingy metal pub in the heart of Camden. Large selection of beers, spirits and music you'll be singing along to, if only to gnarl a bit.
V. W.
1 Friday a month the Black Heart hosts the Chaos Theory's "Face melter" in their upstairs live music venue. The Face Melter always draws a crowd and has varied styles of band each month. It supports up and coming new bands as well as some that are already popular with a fan following.
N. B.
Great place to go for gigs and a good list of drinks.
P. D.
Fantastic rock pub very close to the underground station. Good small venue upstairs and a good selection of beers downstairs. Difficult to find, but worth it once you do find it.
K. H.
Honestly, one of the best bars in London. Great beer selection, awesome music playing, and the booths (if you can snag them) are super comfortable.
J. S.
One of my favourite music venues in Camden. Great bar downstairs and a perfect sized venue upstairs. Recommended. 😎🤘
A. S.
I love coming in here usually but last time I couldn't see the drinks menu and got ignored for ages while waiting at the bar and it wasn't over busy I kinda expect better from such a great place.
P. B.
Solid beer selection, fantastic staff and a great vibe.
j. w.
It’s a pub, in Camden. Nothing else for me to write
D. T.
Amazing place to catch a spur of the moment death metal gig!
M. N.
The grown up version of the Underworld. Terrific rock pub with equally enjoyable beer selection.
You can and will pay £7 a pint for certain drinks though.
W. P.
Hidden gem in Camden. Proper rock, Goth vibe with a good range of interesting beers. I always visit here when in Camden. They have a small live venue upstairs too.
R. T.
A very unique bar.
w. t.
Brilliant venue with live music, one of the best places in Camden for drinks. Large space for groups. Great selection of drinks.
T. B.
Lovely friendly staff, good atmosphere, music exactly the right loudness and great beer
J. R.
Metal bar/venue. Live gig room upstairs, bar downstairs. Good decor. Expensive-ish. Forget your memories of light and embrace the darkness. Or bring your night-vision goggles.
M. B.
Good venue, good sound
R. A.
Incredible beer selection and fantastic rock and metal music. Great, friendly atmosphere. Easily my favourite metal bar in London.
D. C.
Cool venue, some nice but some blank bar staff (too cool for school) good venue upstairs. Great location. Average beer. Average London price.
A. I.
Great Rock bar, went for a mates birthday, great vibe, good gig venue as well, saw my mates band a while back Rich Rageny and the Digressions, check em out 😎
l. l.
good to see there is at least one decent rock bar left in the capital. staff are ace and it felt like the old days before the man crushed the vibe. good beers too!
T. F.
Darkly lit pub, great for cosy and discreet meetings with a great alternative/metal soundtrack. Good selection of craft beers, ciders and top-shelf spirits
G. A.
Friendly staff and good selection of drinks, amazing atmosphere
C. T.
Experiences here may depend on who the people are behind organising the gigs. I went to a gig organised by the folk fans 'The Allotment' and had a thoroughly pleasant time. Small and intimate venue, and they'd arranged some simple but effective fairy lights to spruce it up and organised a table full of cupcakes. It was a brilliant gig with great atmosphere but I suspect that may have been more down to the band than an outstanding venue.
M. M.
Good pub. Had a nice Bluemoon beer with orange.
E. S.
Awesome place, great music and venue. Drinks are a bit pricey but that's expected for Camden. Staff are very friendly.
H. C.
I always forget about this bar unfortunately because it's hidden away off the main high street. Great music and it's nice and dark with lots of friendly people !
A. C.
Fabulous late night boozer In Camden. Ain't nothing but rock and roll. Polite and friendly bouncers are always a bonus too!
T. N.
Favorite rock/metal bar in London. Great music? Great atmosphire, good selection of drinks. The food is pretty good too!
E. H.
Rock pub. Great Real ale superbly kept, dark dingy interior - but in a great way - interesting art work on the walls friendly barstaff, highly recommended if you like rock background music in a cool rock pub
C. W.
Dark and atmospheric Rock bar with a good selection of beers and small gig venue up stairs. The toilets are unisex cubicles.
J. D.
Excellent small venue for small gigs; great beer selection but often too hot and stuffy upstairs for comfort.
J. D. V.
Love the place. Good music, decent prices. Live music upstairs on most nights. Why not 5 stars? No Jack, no Jager 😎
T. T.
This is the future of an independent Camdem music scene ....great sound engineers...small but adequate stage...the live room not too large...so an intimate audience ambience...nip downstairs to the larger beer hall and you get great beers at a very reasonable price for this part of London What's not to be liked A winner Tx
K. H.
Good selection of beers, does some decent gigs... staff are friendly enough. All in all, pretty good!
R. J. L.
Great venue. Good selection of beers. We'll be back once the lockdown's over!
A. B.
I love this pub. I think. I'm pretty sure I do. No yeah I do. I definitely do
D. T.
Huge range of beer, no cask though, background music is 100% brilliant, will definitely visit every time I'm in Camden.
A. S.
Nice lagers and drafts. Can't wait for concerts to start
L. S.
Friendly staff, good live music and fair priced drinks. Bogs need a little attention but not really an issue
M. S.
One of few places on Camden which one still got character.
Nice beer selection, proper music amazing staff
N. W.
Great place and awesome atmosphere
A. D.
Great atmosphere, Tommy p served us with great customer service and amazing up selling
S. D.
Painted black with cool art covering both neon crucifixes and an exhibition of illustrated indie posters (think We Are Scientists and Frightened Rabbit), the bark here is worse than it's bite - The Black Heart looks like an intimidating punky hangout, but, really, the staff couldn't have been friendlier, the booze offered is interesting - from locally brewed lagers to a fine selection of spirits - and, on a hot night, it's an airy place to drink, play pool or wait to see a band. Really liked, tons of character.
T. W.
Loud and unashamedly grotty. With it's pounding rock music and excellent selection of bourbon it is a classic dive bar.
S. D.
Excellent drinks, not that pricey for the location.
Some very good bands in the upstairs venue, great in festival season.
A. L.
Great location and excellent beer options.
J. W.
One of our favourite joints in London. Solid beer selections. Great staff and rockin’ tunes.
A winner.
D. D.
I love the place, the mood, the people, the music, and the location, and the prices are also good, too. But, the hygiene should be improved. Special hats off to the staff who are super fast and accurate even on very busy nights.
A. L.
Been there last night , great place with lots of 90s and hiphop music playing and amazing 2 pounds per double offer , will definitely come again!
M. P.
Nice small place, decent selection of beers and a fun atmosphere. It's a bit loud but that's the nature of modern drinking establishments.
A. P.

N. H.

Great beer & spirit selection, heavy metal music and a Goth (said with Reservation) inspired interior. Certainly a place with character
F. W.
Great as a classic music venue, always had a good night - loos downstairs are awful!!
A. L.
Saw a band upstairs and it was so damn loud. Recommend ear plugs. The sound was too bad due to the loudness. Too bad considering that the band otherwise was pretty good.
V. N.

C. C.
Decent upstairs venue for heavy music! Bar is decent too.

‘It’s the wild colour scheme that freaks me out,’ said Zaphod, whose love affair with the ship had lasted almost three minutes into the flight. 'Every time you try and operate these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up in black to let you know you’ve done it.’
P. Y.
