M. H.We were walking the Thames path and stopped at this pub. It's an old pub which has survived from the days when this area was part of the docks and probably very rough. Now the area is quiet considering how close this is to central London. Beautiful display of flowers on the outside. Inside it's all oak paneling, probably as it was a century ago. Service is friendly, prices average. It was Sunday so I had roast dinner which is served till 5 o'clock. They also specialise in Thai food if you don't want traditional.
Not touristy, even a few locals to chat to.
Would be happy to return if we were ever this way in future.

I didn’t expect the Salt and Pepper Squid Salad to be so flavourful. It was a delightful surprise.
The Beer-Battered Fish and Chips was superb. Really fresh, light and not oily at all.
The Sticky Toffee Pudding was still warm when it was served, and the vanilla ice cream that went with it had actual vanilla beans in it. So lush.
The restaurant had a cosy ambience and was squeaky clean as well. The servers were all wearing masks and gloves too. Very good COVID safety protocols.
I can say that it’s one of the best pubs I’ve been to. I’ll definitely visit again.

G. F.A nice place to have a drink and some Asian cuisine, a little bit on the pricey side but there are not many pubs in that area. It has a local feel and its not as carpeted as other traditional pubs, expect a modesty sticky floor.

We also had a spicy squid starter which came out as a full salad and it was absolutely lovely!! Definitely did not expect it to be that nice coming from a pub. Service was also excellent! Will definitely come back!

J. H.My first meal out in 14 months and it was a good place to start. The staff were very nice, the Pad Thai was nice and I'd be happy to go here again. Local parking is difficult I think, even for a motorbike, but maybe if I'd looked a bit further away, it might have been easier. The total bill came to about £180 for ten of us for mostly main meal or a starter and a couple of rounds of drinks.

The menu looks good and shall return.. I've lived up the road for 8 years and never been here. This place needs local support as some of its business comes from the Hilton which is currently closed.

J. T.I love the vibes here of proper historical English pub however I visited few days ago and have to say that food quality went down. Few years back I used to go there on Fridays with my work mates when I was working in the area and revisited again two days ago and ordered a burger. It was poor, really dry and didn' taste fresh and also very expensive £17 for a dry burger. We also ordered wings, not too bad, loads of salt though and probably the best meal we had was salt and pepper squid. Recommend that one. All in all, If only for drinks it's a good pub if for food maybe look elsewhere.

Would be happy to go back again. Feels less gastro and more pub, which is good thing these days. Still feels authentic.
A.Such a lovely pub. Very family orientated, loved the atmosphere (and smell - it does not smell like a pub). The bartender was a sweetie pie. Although I haven't eaten, the menu seems great, I'll soon and update the post. Nice sitting spaces just in front their flowered facade. It was Saturday afternoon and the road did not seem busy. Coming back very soon.

The former was especially good, and the portions are quite too much for a person . Prices are average, but considering the mentioned portion size, it's worth it. They also offer take away and other promotions, such as date night or happy hour. Would recommend.

N. P.I love this place. Young staff who go out of their way to help you out if you have a child in tow. We come here to eat as the food is always excellent with a varied specials board. Thursday is 'date night' where you can get a set menu with a bottle of wine for £25 each. Highly recommended.

N.Wonderful pub. The owner of this pub is a young man who clearly cares about his business and is working hard (and succeeding) to make it a welcoming, family friendly space. The drinks are a fair price and the food is delicious, and a great place to spend an evening.
My only gripe is that it sometimes seems the bar seating isn’t enough, whilst lots of the restaurant seating remains empty. I might consider converting a bit more into bar space (it’s always nicer to have to eat in bar space, rather than just drink in restaurant space).
Music nights are a must attend, and overall I would heartily recommend. We don’t come here often enough!!

O. K.I was very pleasantly surprised to stumble into this place, looking for a quick bite after exploring the area. The hopes for the food were quite low, given how pub food can often be.
We had three plates, each of which was fantastic. I had the BBQ ribs, which were very well prepared and the portion was generous (I did go for the full rack, which I couldn't finish despite my large appetite). One of us had the slow cooked short ribs which were a special, they were simply amazing and the baked aubergine was also amazing.
The triple cooked fries with truffle oil and parmesan cheese were the best of the chips offered, followed by the chicken salt once and then the plane once.
The staff were friendly and very happy to help, guide us through the menu and give good recommendations.
Highly recommend this place - looking forward to finding myself in the area again to have a reason to pop in.

There were 40 of us stopping for lunch and not only did they not get a single order wrong, everything tasted amazing (judging by the comments and empty plates). I had a generous portion of Sunday roast with half a chicken and some really amazing roast potatoes and gravy. I cannot recommend this place enough!

P. M.Well run pub with friendly staff. Other than a small selection of beers, this is a great pub. Recent visits I found the food to be very inconsistent. For example, sometimes the "gourmet" burger is good, other times it is dry and not good.Also applying a service to food you order at the bar is not really acceptable at a pub. It's a shame since the management seems to be trying hard to improve.
P. R.Beautiful neighborhood pub with a great menu of classic dishes and some Thai specialties. We were staying at a nearby hotel and delighted to make this our first night's outing. Friendly service provided great recommendations, including a calamari appetizer that I would have ordered a second time for a main. Shepherd's Pie was the night's special pie (apparently changes every night) and was hot, rich, and flavorful. My older son had a classic burger, which arrived stacked and perfectly cooked to order on a tasty tall bun. My wife had and enjoyed the Supreme Chicken, and she loved her burrata appetizer. A very enjoyable spot in all respects, child- and dog-friendly. Thanks for a great memory from our trip, and I hope we get to visit again soon.

A. C.I visited this pub yesterday with my friend, my 1st pub visit post lockdown. Glad to say that they are following all the guidelines to make the place Covid secure - Staff was wearing face mask all the time, table and chairs were sprayed with sanitiser before offering it to the customers. Food was awesome. Great customer service by the staff.
PS - The girl(with blue/ hazel eyes) who served me and took the payment was very polite - and I should have asked for her number - but couldn't, I should not say this publicly , but couldn't resist - I was wearing a Yellow Polo T shirt and the time was around 19:45.

The restaurant is divided by the bar/pub area and the restaurant area, and you can eat in both.
The service and the food were really good and we would definitely go back!

The Thai curry was really good, and the burger she had was really good too. However, the drinks were very expensive and while we were there we witnessed a large fight break out amongst a group of friends which the staff were slow to deal with.
Police eventually arrived which made them scarper, but they shouldn't have needed to come in the first place.

We've really never had a bad experience here and I would be massively disappointed if Tommy and his team ever decided that serving quality, creative and non-traditional pub grub was no longer possible. While other pubs are content to serve up microwaved steak pies, bangers and mash, hamburgers and bad cuts of meat... The Blacksmiths Arms serves up actual restaurant quality food. 10/10.

W. P.This is a very pleasant pub full of people predominantly from the Hilton next door. Function area upsatiars, pub and restaurant on the ground floor. It is a really nice environment and classic British pub style, it's a Fullers pub so no real surprises. The food is good but unremarkable, I most enjoyed the asparagus, parmesan and poached egg starter as the asparagus was excellent quality and perfectly cooked. But the menu is a bit scatter gun in style with a little veggie but not enough to commend as a proper veggie place, a pasta option, range of burgers, classics like fresh fish and chips, shepherd's pie but then no steak and ale. Portions are generous. With a bit more refinement over the offering this could be a really commendable eatery at the moment though I'd say it's OK if you need it for food but primarily well worth a pint or three.

A. R.Great food, great service and good atmosphere! Went to this pub as it was recommended to me by someone when I was staying at the Hilton at docklands Riverside. It's located just around the corner and the menu is quite varied, so there is something for everyone. A colleague I went with was allergic to fruit and the staff bent over backwards to make sure that he was catered to (including letting him know h couldn't have the piri piri chicken special or the chicken burger because they checked with the kitchen and it had lemon and lime juices in the marinade) they were very thorough to check if he had any other allergies and made sure we were well looked after without being intrusive. Can highly recommend the salt and pepper calamari, its not often you get restaurants which get it RIGHT, but trust me it was amazing. Cooked to perfection and the salad it came with had the right amount of heat with chilli's to perfectly complement. I had the piri piri chicken special and it was succulent, well flavoured and the thrice cooked chips were delicious. My colleague had a beef burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. Mains are about £15 and entrees around £6. So very reasonably priced. Looked to have a really good range of drinks too. Overall, I would definitely come again next time I'm staying at the Hilton for dinner, and bring other colleagues too!
C. C.Of all the pubs I have been to over the past couple of years, I definitely think this one is the best. Easily accessible, good layout on one level with the pub area with LOTS of comfortable and well thought out seating and a dining room in back again with great seating, well designed, and away from the noise of the pub section.
The food is first class and their speciality is an Asian fusion tilt with some Thai dishes and curries, and other traditional Englich pub favourites with a bit of kick and pizzaz inspired by Asian cuisine. Well executed, looks good and tastes great.
Price wise it's also a great value for the money and it's inexpensive. It's on par with our other local pubs but the food quality, presentation and service is better, and it's far less expensive that the better known local area pubs and much less expensive than the big pubs on the beaten path. They also have a huge selection of beer and other beverages, so no skimping in that area.
And best of all is the service. It's the best around, bar none, and all the staff and management seem to be from the local area as well. So they care, and their regulars know that they care. As a result the pub has a loyal local following, but it's worth you while to stop here if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is not just a couple of dishes bolted onto a standard pub fare menu, but rather a large range run prepared by folk that know proper Thai food. Packed into the warmth and comfort of a typical, if very nice Fuller's pub. As relatively new locals we can say it's our favourite place around.

J. H.If you are looking for an authentic local British Pub with fabulous food, a wonderful warm and welcoming staff, and famous food this is a must when you are in London. They make you feel like family the minute you walk I the door and I can't say enough good things about the food! The salt and pepper squid is the best I've ever had, and I've tried a lot around the workd from Helsinki to Miami.
The lamb cutlets and mash are mouthwatering, the seabass is sublime, and I could go on and on about the Thai curry selections, steaks, roasts, duck egg rolls, and don't get me started on the desserts.
Tom and his staff are genuine people who really care about the food and the people who visit the pub. They make you feel at home and we come here every time we are in town in business. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

F. K.The Blacksmith's Arms used to be a gem - authentic Thai food in the restaurant at the back, traditional English local in the bar at the front. On regular trips to London staying at the nearby Hilton, the Blacksmith's Arms was always on the agenda for a pint and a meal. Sadly my most recent visit revealed a business with a problem. The Pad Thai was greasy and lacking in flavour and a Massaman curry turned out to be an insipid yellow curry paste concoction. Mains were lukewarm and service was poor in spite of it being a quiet night (half a dozen or so covers). I understand there has been a change of management and there was no sign of Thai staff on this visit. It is always possible that we caught the Arms on a bad night, but I suspect not. The food wasn't a patch on what it used to be and some recent reviews suggest we weren't the only ones to be disappointed. On future visits I'll happily stop off for a pint, but I won't be eating here again. Pity.

Its got olde character and has some interesting feature nights but remote from the thameside walks and better, older pubs further towards the City. Nearest station is Rotherhithe or Canada Water, can also get ferry to Csnary Wharf.

E. L.Shame that you get coachs coming in of around 50 persons and they get bit perturbed when they are told they would have to wait an hour or two or more for food. This is due to the fact the place can only seat 50 for eating and when it is already booked out what can these others expect. All in all were you to come with 30 odd in a bus then book in advance to avoid disapointment. I come to London 4 days a month for 6 years and have enjoyed countless Thai food and a bit of banter at the blacksmiths arms.
