Reviews of The Blind Beggar
M. N.
Visited this pub yesterday with my daughter and son-in-law.
They go there from time to time to meet with friends- nice and central.
I can see why.
It’s a nice pub; good mix of people, i seriously thought it’d be full of hipsters. Nope. People from all walks of life having a few Friday drinkies.
Nice atmosphere.
Bar staff were friendly and despite it being very busy (good thing to see, given the hammering pubs took during the pandemic) We were served quickly.
Prices (always important) was comparable to pubs in London generally- didn’t break the bank.
I will be back!
Maybe in the summer as the beer garden is reportedly a lovely space.
S. O.
Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the history of the place. The area is bright and vibrant with lots of great market stalls along the road if you walk or just a hop, skip and a jump from the station.
The public house service is great with a huge beer garden and call buttons to request attention.
I will go back and spend more time there.
J. a. R.
Such a lovely pub! Felt like a traditional English pub with really friendly staff and they even had their own little cat service. Without glamourising the gang culture, there were obvious connections to the Kray brothers with affiliated members taking pictures outside.
S. S.
...had a fantastic time..staff very friendly and attentive..had banter with locals and made friends with management..much alcohol was consumed..WILL DEFFO BE BACK...
🦍
M. J.
Great pub, large back garden, staff are very friendly and helpful of the history of the pub.
O. S.
Really liked it, very beautiful garden and very friendly staff. Has good variety of drinks, clean facilities too. Has heaters outside and table service, fully covid compliant.
d. v.
Beer garden was excellent, looks like it has been renovated recently and would be great in summer. Pub interior needs some updating. 2 pub cats are lovely tho...Edward &Henry!!
M. H.
Very friendly welcome into the pub, great to visit a historic landmark too. Stopped for a quick drink, football on a big screen. Not serving food at the moment due to covid restrictions but really good experience and a decent pint of Guinness!
A. R.
Fairly unchanged pub over probably last 20 years or so. Main reason for most punters in there was to see supposed bullet holes in ceiling/wall. Beer choice was disappointing. I can tick it off the list but wont return.
K. S.
Good selection of beers and a famous pub
K. B.
As true crime geeks we enjoyed our visit for the history and notoriety. You can really imagine the pub as it would have been in it's heyday. The girls working behind the bar were lovely and the chef very amenable. The service from the waiter was awful and the food unfortunately below standard. However, the owner went out of his way to apologise and listen to our feedback. Our overall feeling was that it could be so much more of a destination than it is at present. It also doesn't cater well for children (no children's menu/child specific drinks available)
R. J.
Difficult to rate as only visited as part of the gangster tour/naughtybus. Didn't have time for a pint.
S. G. C.
Good drinks selection and a nice atmosphere! The garden is very nice for a nice drink outside (weather permitting). On cold days try to get the table by the fireplace!
c. w.
Great place to sit and drink and let your imagination wonder
r. M.
Quality East end boozer steeped in history.. Good service and friendly staff. Pool table. Inside or beer garden option when the weather is good. Close to public transport. A regular haunt over the years.
A. B.
Everything I expected it to be, loved the little visit I had, not to pricey and very historic feeling also,
S. W.
We went here for my partners 30th as he had heard about this pub and the history behind it. Going in there were tributes to the famous history behind the blind beggar, the locals were also on hand to answer any questions behind the history of the pub. This pub is worth a visit and not just for the quality ale or the history but for the cute bar cat who makes it clear that he owns the pub. Would definitely come back here for another visit.
A. K.
Bill Badger loves this kind of traditional pub. He's just watching that Kray's program now on ITV in his sett with the bovver boys of the Scrubs. They're bad boy brocks who are partial to bags of 🥜🥜. You never know, they may surface if they smell the kp peanuts. 😂😆🦡
K. L.
Great place staff were really nice and happy to talk about the history of the place and even showed me the exact spot where the shooting happened,
T. k.
Nice beer garden and history, prices are reasonable, friendly staff and fast service.
D. P.
Great pub, especially when the weather is good so that one can sit in the beer garden.
D. P.
The Blindbeggar are really friendly and kind and considerate. The people are always really friendly. The Maureen Flanagan's NHS CHARITY Events are so Good. Weldone 💯
S. A.
Good selection of drinks, reasonably priced, and a lovely beer garden. Couple that with its history regarding the Cray Twins and it's a great night out! Would recommend to anyone visiting the East End.
L. T.
This is a place to see the if you have read the books are seen the movie about the Krays. But the drinks are dear and it of a bit of a dump in thr beer garden.
I. E.
Good snacks, standard london booze prices. Great garden and good for groups
T. H.
A little piece of london history. See where the krays shot a fellow gangster
P. C.
The Blind Begger is a lovely local east London spot. A classic pub front opens out to a great beer garden that's a bit of a hidden gem. Staff are always very relaxed, fun and a good laugh.
m. p.
Lovely old fashioned "proper pub" i loved my time there.. Thank you.
n.
Very nice pub for a sunday pint in a spaceous beer garden, with very quick table service!
L. G.
Went for a beer on new year's day, everybody joyous and very friendly 😊
H. T.
Call in for a quick drink large pub prices are okay decent selection of beers Blind Beggae was one of the pubs the Kray Twins frequented you may say, changed a bit since then no blood on the floor didn't see any bodies in the cellular
I. T.
Since I was a little boy, I've always wanted to go here . The history of the Ronnie Kray and George Cornell shooting was enough to bring me here. Phenomenal beer garden and the staff was fantastic.
G. F.
Very standard bar, drinks are expensive considering the area the pub is in. No frills or thrills. Amazing that the bars claim to fame is someone being shot and killed on the premises and they immortalise it in both photo and plaque form. Very grim.
J. S.
A really nice pub.
Good fast food.helpfull staff.Smoking in the beer garden pool table.good times!
J. B.
Cracking pub. Steeped in history but main thing is that they serve a cracking pint with a smile.
k. a. A.
Amazing pub with great food. Pool table at the back and very friendly staff/management 👍🏾👌🏾
A. V.
Nice cozy pub with big sleepy cat:-) lots of choices for beer Cool!!
D. D.
A proper eastend pub home of the Krays . Original wallpaper on some parts and run gangster tours on there own open top bus which is commented by Mickey goldtooth
R. J.
A big, classic pub with a decently sized beer garden. It has two lovely ginger cats wandering about, and a delightful fireplace.
R. P.
You know the story you've seen the film(s), now visit the location...
S. h.
Perfectly good. The krays connection is why I went. The picture on the wall is allegedly something to do with the bullet (hole) that killed George Cornell. I am unclear if it a photo, a recreation, or a tourist trap. Either way, it was interesting to see!
E. M.
Always great! The outdoor garden is great, fireplace lit, the staff very friendly and the drinks lovely.
d. c.
I went here after a recommendation by a colleague I used to work with. I was in London to take part in a clinical trial. (Flucamp) As I had several hours until the megabus was due, I checked out the blind beggar. Sadly I was unable to enter the pub as the world Cup was on and the pub seemed small, but seemed to be lively (could have been due to the world Cup)
L. W.
Visited due to the history and was disappointed that there was not more to be seen inside.
J. C.
It used to be my local when I went to college about 40 years ago ....it looks like it could do with a refurb and the drinks were very expensive £3.50 for an orange juice !!
L. M.
Went for the kray twins connection and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and drink. Burger and hot dog menu but all fresh and Home made burgers!
R. W.
Good pub worth a look just for history value. To be honest I think its name and history are what you go for.
A.
Not a bad pub more of a beer yard than a garden but very busy well kept beer excellent burger too and of course a little bit of infamous history
G. N.
Not a good experience as you can't go to the bar and order a drink...it's a bleeding east end boozer for gawds sake so operate it like one.
B. V.
Big old outdoor drinking space, nice bit of Spanish lager beer and, thankfully, no firearms being discharged, so, happy to come back, when it stops bleedin' raining.
S. C.
Not what I was expecting due to me thinking that there would be more history surrounding the area, especially from the "kray era",but a decent pint.
H. K.
Nice vibe, good beer garden, nice staff
F. F.
Cool pub amazing cat, nice out door seating area, lovely staff, sightly higher prices, cool history about the Cray brothers
Everything a pub needs
L. L.
Loved the atmosphere here...good old eastend pub, good service
T. F.
Looked nice but too bustly for me durring the pandemic so didn't stay
J. G.
Great old fashioned pub, the bullet hole in the ceiling was interesting to see
P. M.
Good beer and service. What more could u ask for.
F. F.
Interested place to visit for a drink
D. P.
Top bar, Gerrard and Izzy and the team looked after myself and brother so well, fantastic venue, jewel of the eastend ❤️
K.
Nice pub brought us on a tour and everything of the history of pub .. Nice people in bar also
H. R.
My local pub for the past 2 years, it has a great atmosphere, great food (hot dogs), a fireplace inside making it really cosy during the cold winter days. The terrace outside is ideal on warm summer days. Good choice of beer.
R. B.
Full of history loved the place
P. S.
Visited because of the history of the pub. Friendly staff. Local boozer vibe (on a Sunday evening) no real Ales though
D. O.
Very nice pub great area
C. H.
Went here with a few people from work and sat outside. Service was good (and the service call button on the table is a nice touch) but managed to get my rather simple drinks order wrong (hence the loss of a star).
J. C.
Great pub full of history. Check out Gangster tours with Vaz
K. F.
Friendly pub, clean, nice bit of history, good ol' East end boozer.
N. G.
Love this place, it's my local. Been coming for years now and iv seen some lovely staff come and go. This place is always busy and has a lovely atmosphere. Love they beer bear garden. Its really big and can fit lots of people in it. Had some great summer's drink here.
r. c.
Very enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
C. G.
Good welcome, lovely pint and great history. Nice cosy atmosphere and many original features.
B. M.
David very friendly, it has History, a good East End pub, highly recommended
G. C.
Good music playing. Bar staff were attentive and friendly. However I feel that £5.60 for a pint of 1664 with a splash is expensive for this part of London. We're not up west and I can find a weatherspoons that will always be cheaper. This is why local boozers are sadly closing down. Yes they have the history but who cares apart from tourists?
T. T.
They were having a tour as I'm sure the do quite often. Nearly pooed myself when they started firing blanks, luckily I was already in the loo.
G. m.
Great pub lots of history. Staff were friendly. Wish they had more history on show
S. C. H.
Riding on the coat tails of history... A reasonable pub but not much to write home about
L. S.
Food is outstanding service is great and it's got the history of the krays .. amazing place to be
A. F.
Warm atmosphere bolstered by a cracking fireplace. Interior as well as smoking area is relatively roomy with a delightfully amiable staff
S. S.
Mrs and I loved this place, came down from Scotland determined to go for a bevvy there. Bar staff and punters were really friendly, and I got to drink at the very spot Cornell got shot! Ordered great food and sat in the excellent beer garden. Will definitely be back
M. J.
I love this pub, I always go in for a drink when I am in the area, great atmosphere, good food and the staff are friendly. Great history for tourists or anyone who is interested in local history, as this was were the gangster George Cornell (member of the Richardson gang) was shot by Ronnie Kray. If you love your history, good beer, good food , great atmoshere, then I recomend a visit, it also has a great garden as well.
8. R. p. U.
Proper English pub with notorious history from the gangster underworld great presence of the krays pub
Friendly atmosphere and the staff are amazing very good pub garden it's strange
that once you get into the pub garden it's like being somewhere else and not in whitechapel
Recommended that you pop down
E. M.
Such a cosy pub! It's one of those pubs you go when you want to chill and relax and feel some familiarity! They also have Henry the cat, who is a great addition to the already "feels like home" vibe. Also, good and reasonable prices, and the staff is friendly and chilled. Love it!
J. R.
Stop in for quick pint between showers, lovely old pub with its history, staff lovely service good, would make this me local if I lived london
K. S.
I adore this place! Good food, nice selection of drinks, AMAZING beer garden with a koi pond... A KOI POND!!!! Which has the cutest sturgeon (which I've named Sebastian, not that anyone asked) in it as well. Staff are so friendly too. This really is a great pub with some interesting history (if you look it up) and I can't recommend the place enough
C. S.
Well done this team on managing lockdown exit - smooth as! Even with new staff working shift 1 it’s like clock work - it feels like almost back to normal but also Covid safe...
I. “. T.
I love this pub.... I would give 5 stars if only they had food!
A. S.
Cosy pub and friendly staff. Would liked to have seen more info about the history of the pub though, maybe pictures on the walls etc. Good beer garden with a pond and welcoming for families. Locals are very friendly too. Great East End boozer!!
R. F.
Very welcoming, best BEER GARDEN around, must visit East End spot. Good selection of beers and other drinks, recommend jagerbombs. During winter the fireplace is on (real one). Informal and great for gatherings.
Staff is well prepared and the food is good. Prices are quite fair considering it's a piece of history.
S. L.
This pub is a hidden gold mine. From the outside you would be forgiven for thinking it was a bit of a rough pub in a rough area but it's actually a really lovely pub with great atmosphere and fantastic beer garden.
They even have pub cats who are a little shy but you do need the occasional tail disapear somewhere
A. M.
I think drinks are quite expensive for what sort if pub it is. The interior of the pub is very old. I think new furniture is needed. The staff friendly and always smiling. The outside garden it's great as that's where I usually stay as there is so many of us.
J. S.
Was expecting to get some memorabilia of the Krays brothers but zilch !!!
F. C. G.
Good pub to have a few beers and eat a nice hot dog or hamburger, which can be accompanied by fries, they are tasty and the price is right. Usually frequented by locals and during summer times has an outdoor garden! I really enjoyed the place!
I. S.
Best hot-dogs and chips in the area!
Friendly staff, reasonably priced, decent selection of drinks.
Cosy pub with real fireplace, lovely beer garden and beautiful resident cat :)
There is also a snooker table at the back and a big TV screen for sport events.
R. D.
One of the most famous pubs on the East end. In the evenings it gets quite busy, but it has a decent size plus a big beer patio/garden with heaters. They do only burgers and hot dogs for food, but they are nice and well priced. The ale selection is small but they have they own brand, beggars believe, which is nice but simple. Prices are on the central London side, but all pubs around aren't cheap either. If you visit the pub have a look at the ginormous koi fish living in a pool in the garden.
L. B.
Great food, lovely place
T. C. P.
I love their outside area with heaters! The day I went they didn't do food but they allowed us to bring food from outside
I. p. S.
We were with a London tour bus called the naughty bus, we went into the Blind Beggars to listen to a good story about the craze twins who were gangsters back on the day around the west end.
L. B.
We went on a Friday night. Very busy pub, 2 huge real fires burning. 2 Large chandeliers hanging from a red gloss painted ceiling. House beer "Beggars belief" was very nice. Ladies toilets are very small and were smelly. Beer garden is lovely, with a Carp filled pond. We would've stayed longer but had to be somewhere else.
M. R.
Full of history, mystery and great beer. Feel like you're experiencing a real slice of London legend when you're here. Great mix of contemporary, trendy London life, as well as the old school feeling the East end is renowned for!
E. H.
Staff are really lovely. Great beer garden. Bottle of Bulmers and large Pinot, £10.60 so prices good for London. Food, basic but does the job. All in all, nice place & obviously a must for gangster lovers 👍😁
L. G.
Amazing pub with such a rich history, the bear garden is lovely to have a pint in the sun. The staff are friendly and know so much knowledge about the history of the place and the area.
S. M.
3 stars seems a bit mean because I actually loved the environment and the location. But I can't get over paying nearly £12 for two pint of lager!! And not even very friendly service. We stayed for two and left cos at the end of the day it's a boozer in Whitechapel and it's prices reflect a bar in Bank.
H. B.
Came here with our guide on the Kray Twins walking tour. Nice calm pub now. Nice bar man let me taste the Cider first. It also boasts the biggest beer garden in London.
J. B.
VERY NICE PUB WITH AN AMAZING BEER GARDEN. I WOULD DEFINITELY GO AGAIN.
C. S.
Great looking old pub ..great part of history!
R. E.
Bikini-clad waitress with mask below her chin. Another without a mask did not know anything about the beers. Blue Moon for example
A. C.
Famous as the pub where Ronnie Kray, one of the East-end's most notorious villains, offed rival George Cornell. Otherwise it's an unremarkable Whitechapel boozer with a pleasant atmosphere a wide range of beers and friendly bar staff. Quiet on a blustery Tuesday evening.
A. J.
Very disappointing inside, but it does have a pleasant beer 'garden'.
Any character the pub had at the time of its infamous incident has long been ripped out along with most of the Victorian interior.
K. H.
Staff were lovely and reasonably priced but the atmosphere was dead
P. W.
Very historic pub
M. D.
Built in1884, and opened as a pub in 1894 in the early 80's when in London popped in beer, the staff were excellent, and the food was great, pleasant atmosphere, and great for meeting up with pals.
M. M.
Nice beer garden. Lots of history about the famous Kray twin killing.
N. N.
Very classic pub with nice staff good vibe and good outdoor area
Z. D.
A really nice pub, drinks are quite cheap and the beer garden is excellent! Inside it's nothing special but a pretty good pub for the area... apparently it has a lot of history to it regarding the Cray Twins!
G. A.
Had a really great night catching up with old buds over a bottle of really nice prosecco in the beer garden last night. Wish I knew the name of it- will just have to go back!
They were showing the Italy Belgium football match on the big screens but despite that there was lots of space and seating if you weren't watching the game. Cool decorations outside like the water feature and the Buddha. And a good mix of people- a great east London vibe
G. B.
If you want to feel free and enjoy a night with a deliveroo pizza ... Then it's perfect
I.
Full of history, mystery and great beer. Feel like you're experiencing a real slice of London legend when you're here. Great mix of contemporary, trendy London life, as well as the old school feeling the East end is renowned for!
M. C.
Always great and of course legendary and historic
A. I.
Such a historical venue.. Great polite staff loved it and defo go again
S. M.
Lovely place. Best beer garden in East London . One of the best things is that they also have a bar outside in the beer garden 👌
R. K.
What a lovely place!
I booked a table just before lockdown 2 and it was the best experience in a while, very laid back but efficient staff. Thanks guys!
b. s.
Surprisingly good house red wine.
D. C.
Very nice pub with a lot of history as well as the Krays local.
Good selection of drinks, with nice friendly staff
If you've got cash to pay great , if you want to pay be card you have to spend £9 or more anything under that they slap on a 50p charge each time not good enough and off putting .
S.
Very nice and cosy pub. A bit pricey for the area and didn't serve food after 7pm on a Sunday night. Good things, they have a fire place and 2 pub cats :).
R. L.
It's a bit dark and slightly dingy but I think that's a nod to it's East End heritage. The food is amazing! Burgers and hot dogs, only 2 veggie options though, is the only downside. With the fires lit it felt so cosy. Maybe not a place for a date but a good hangout
S. M.
I went there once to watch a world cup football match.
The food did not look good, the chef was dressed like a chav and not sterile at all. Which put me off from eating anything in there. Beer is beer it was alright, the glass was clean as far as I remember.
One screen was on for the football match which was pretty much obstructed by the ceiling lights, eventually one of the employees turned on second TV.
S. C.
Nice little pub with a rich history. Drinks are very expensive in my opinion and the selection isn't very big. Nice beer garden though and pleasant staff. Wouldn't spend all night there, but good for one or two.
J. C.
It has a beer garden which is nice but it's shabby and blary ambient music. The service is hit and miss - I bounced up to the bar with a spring in my step about to spend £40 on food and drinks, and was barely greeted by a tired humdrum barmaid, fair dos.
Big slobbish regular sat in a high chair watching everything - standard!
The streetfood-esque menu is hotdogs and burgers in sugary brioche buns with a range of sloppy toppings. Chips cost extra of course and few other options.
P. D.
Stopped there for a beer ... was a pleasant visit , staff were friendly , no food menu when we went due to the covid restrictions
D. G.
Disappointed.
Whilst I understand that it would be wrong to celebrate the violent deeds carried out here by London's gangland villains, I was hoping to see more about the history of the place. There was a single article tucked away in the corner about the Kray twins and the shooting at the pub.
That aside the pub is really quite soulless and cold. Beer was ok and not great. I was there during a Saturday lunchtime so perhaps it livens up at night time?
C. R.
Traditional pub steeped with history. Hard working, friendly staff.
Expect to pay over 5 pound for a pint.
L. B.
3 and half I wud give I could. Changed a lot since its old lost a bit of its vibe going for quite trendy vibe chilled out but disappointing it doesn't use its heritage and history because it has a lot and is shame it seems to be forgetting this. Gone to modern and has forgotten was made it famous. Good selection of drink and pleasant atmosphere but is missing something
S. B.
Food was brilliant, the beer garden was tranquil and secluded. It was like i was transported outside of london.
I've worked in whitechapel a while and always walked passed this pub, dismissing it. I happened to have a bad day at work and need a pub lunch. Im so glad i gave it a go.
I will be going back!
So pleased i gave it a chance. You should too. Very happy customer.
j. r.
I was so drunk I can't remember being there .but a Great Pub!!!
A. S.
Very good pub. It has some history behind it. They also have a great food menu with special hot dogs and more.
j. i.
Clean, tidy and complying with social distancing. Quick service and decent prices.
C. L.
Sunday midday visit - not many people in, they all seemed to be in the gastropub opposite having their Sunday dinners. Doombar and London Pride on tap, nice beer garden (mainly paved) with a big wall separating it from the traffic on the main road.
J. K. A.
Good Beer Selection, Cheeseboard is cheap and quality, friendly staff, amazing garden.
Pool table, fussball table. Nice cuddly cat. I was dead tired when I was there but I could really relaxed at the blind begger. nicest pub in East London.
Toilet isn't dandy nonetheless but doesn't bother me.
J. H.
One of the best pubs in london. Huge beer garden, amazing staff (the manager and owner are legends!), reasonably priced drinks, gourmet hotdog menu and a relaxed and very mixed crowd.
A. A.
Nice pub. Cosy feel with a fire and a pool table. Wide range if drinks and loads of room. Also the biggest beer garden in London. Place where one of the kray brothers got shot in the head. Would recommmend coming here as it is a 5 minute walk from Whitechapel station
A. P.
Great location and atmosphere, good selection of beers and food. Fries was so oily and burger was okay but small for its price.
D. M.
The Blind Begger public house was established in 1894 named after the original blind begger of the local area the blind begger of Bethnal Green Simon de Montford a young Lord who lost his gentry fortune. Simon was a soldier in the service of the King and he fought at the battle of Evesham in 1265, after becoming wounded he was nursed back to health by, and the woman he later married was Besse, a noblemans daughter and of the original pub on this site... As good as any modern pub anywhere; has a resident ginga moggy. lively music; good atmosphere; sports screen; old building and decor with a modern feel. Has Chanderleers throughout. Reminds me of only fools and horses sketch. It has the London look. In 2014 won the Best Pub Garden in London; the garden is currently being redesigned and boasts one of the biggest pub gardens.
My personal score is 10/10.
S.
Wanted to visit a few Krays pubs but weather was so wet that by time we got there we were soaked. They had back doors open and no heating on so we could not stay very long. Would return in summer
R. R.
Nice people, nice place, pool table and the food has a nicely done selection of hot dogs and burgers. Don't expect too much and this is a good typical English pub with a big beer garden for the location
K. C.
Fabulous pub with an east end gangster history. Fun beer garden and occasional live music. Very enjoyable place for a pint or 3. 🍻
J. W.
Beer selection was acceptable, but unfortunately it proved very difficult to find service at the bar. It's also never a good sign when a pub runs out of clean glasses.
D. N.
Visited the famous beggar during a visit to London. Few bits of memorabilia about but nothing much to write home about. Staff were good and decent selection of beers.
C. H.
Tourist attraction mainly but there is very nice romantic garden with flowers, statures and a fish pond with unusual modern design. It was very quiet too during lunch time hours.
C. M.
thought the blind beggar gave that traditional east london feel to it the dark wood finish the log burning fire up in corner.also they now sell bar food which was very nice aswell and bar staff very pleasant.
M. R.
Didn't go in. It's famous though and near where my parents were raised. Liked the "Soup of the day: Guinness" chalked sign outside. I ought to pop in when I get the chance next.
L. C.
Simply the most vibrant friendly , cool pub/garden I've not experienced in a long time. Amazing attentive staff , ... long stemmed lillies on the mantelpiece. You will be seeing us again . That's for sure :-)
S. K.
I just had to go here for a nosey! The place where the Krays shot George Cornell in 1966. I know we shouldn't immortalise gangsters but it happened and the pub still stands with just a few pictures as a reminder of how London used to be in the 60's.
m. b.
OK pub but have to say pub opposite is better.
C.
Just had drinks there. It wasn't very busy for a Thursday night but that worked for me. Staff were quick and friendly. Annoying they had a limit of £8 for using any card payment.
L. L.
Love this place, always have a good time here with the bar staff as well as other patrons. There's a nice beer garden as well that is somewhat hidden, be sure to check it out.
T. L.
Someone told me this was a gangster pub but the most violent thing I saw was my craft lager-shandy being poured into a Kronenbourg glass. Good beer garden tho
C. H.
Pub inside is OK, the beer garden though is lovely with water features and lighting - very attractive outside space that they have obviously taken care to make appealing
F. M.
I love having a pint here not only because it is the place where Ronnie Kray shot George Cornell which makes it a piece of London's gangland history but because regardless of modern clean interior it has that good old fashioned taste that I find very appealing in a pub. I have to warn you that The Blind Beggar is not the cheapest place around and don't be too surprised when you end up paying 4 pounds for a Peroni. If you get lucky you might even see the resident cat. Overall it is a really nice pub filled with interesting, friendly people who are always open for chatting.
N. F.
Nice outside when it's sunny but a slightly odd interior. Suspect many people visit her once for the history. Cheap drinks and a pretty good beer selection.
J. G.
Proper old school London pub with so much history. Very nice friendly staff!
S. S.
Not a lot of atmosphere. Had porker and brioche buns were burnt and not a lot of filling. A jug of Pimm's is good value tho.
F. P.
Not the most wonderful pub in the world but an east end classic with character and history. Pool table tucked away at the back and a yard garden in case of sunshine.
P. B.
Pretty solid pub, some of the beers are a bit pricey but otherwise decent place. Nice beer garden.
J. C.
Nice boozer went their for the history that's attached
E. R.
all changed now, from I was a kid , Walking down the waste ,the waste was Whitechapel market, pubs on every corner ,with families in from that area, nans and grandad mums and dads kids, baby's was very happy times, now look what as happened ,pubs are chicken shops or cash and carrys and poor old Whitechapel,is like Bagh dad,,
T. M.
Used to be a great pub. Too many sippers in it. People taking up room, their beer must be like tea they hug it that long! It's like a chat room.
s.
OK pub service is a bit slow
A. M.
Beautifull pub, nice beers and better company...
s. s.
Wanted to go here for along time
Came across the pub after coming out of the Royal free hospital . had to go in for a pint at least. Very nice bar staff.big garden..was a pleasure to be there .
S. B.
Nice garden seating area and reasonably priced drinks. The bathroom is a bit grubby though
a. s.
Great charity day and fantastic customers welcome
I. M.
Great vibe
Expensive drinks lol
a. n.
Very friendly staff, it's just like walking into your local.... always make a point of going whenever in that part of london
S. S.
Great pub, synonymous with the Krays, in the heart of the East End of London. Two resident cats are often to be found lounging around. Meanwhile the beer garden includes Buddhist statues and a rather eclectic koi carp fish inclosure.
M. H.
Famous East End Pub,was frequented by the Krays back in the day, great pub, great range of beers and spirits, cocktails, also serves food Hotdogs/Burgers and fries, staff are great, huge outside area check out the Coy carp in huge pond excellent pub, highly recommend
T. C.
Bar staff are quite rude. Pub itself is nice with real fireplace. Reasonable range of beer
S. G.
Very friendly staff and keen prices with a fascinating history. Well worth a visit at any time. S.G.
A. F.
Love the history and good friendly service
G. F.
Krays' brothers pub! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and an amazing beer garden. A must go in Whitechapel, especially on a Friday night.
S. W.
A it of history nice little pub
S. C.
Mate absolutely class booza. Best pint I've had
S. S.
I have nothing bad to say about this place, service was fast and polite, and the ginger cat that jumped up onto our table was a pleasant surprise! No particular wow factor to the place, good for a pint.
C. F.
First Time we went to a pub after lockdown, the best garden was nice and the vibe relaxed.
C. R.
Full of gangsters. Need to watch yer mouth
H. A.
Nice pub with a lot of history related to the East End - Try and avoid it when they're having a tour come in as it'll take a while to be served as wl as being too noisy
R. Q.
A good old school pub with friendly staff and notorious local history - a relaxed local boozer- although the Gents' are often a bit of a mess... The fireplace is always a treat!!
J. H.
Excellent service, very continuous staff. Excellent set up for COVID 19.
P. I. L.
Great pub, proper London pub.
i. N.
Had a nice Sunday afternoon drink Aspals Cider £5.50 a pint a nice fire was burning and it was warm inside not many customers
P. E.
Great place, wonderful beer garden. Mobbed this afternoon 26/5/17.
Peter the barman is doing a sterling job with the sunshine drinkers.
W. B.
Amazing place, would recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
X. A.
Very nice Pub with a nice yard and with some history (i.e. Kray twins murder).
D. L.
Old fashioned pub with great 🍺
p. c.
One of my favourite pubs but the bar staff on this visit could be more friendly and pay more attention to there customer instead of having there heads stuck in there mobile phones
A. S.
They're very lovely people!!! ✅ ✅ ✅
L. B.
Loved loved loved this place so very much, brilliant atmosphere and history, very friendly staff and gorgeous ginger tom cat. Will definitely visit again
d. p.
History , very good
L. G.
Nice Pub, really friendly staff and knowing the history regarding this pub made it well worth a visit
b.
20 minutes to order food & beers, but it was the "rush hour". Fries with pulled pork: gooooood.
Tried belgian white beer: excellent, but i love white beers...
M. M.
It's a nice large pub, the garden had lots of seating and there is a reasonable beer selection.
The toilets stink.
C. L.
Fun vibe, great hot chocolate
D. W.
Great beer and a nice garden. Also the legendary venue where the Kray twins misbehaved. Good name too!
D. T.
Service was good, shame about the menu.
T. W.
A Pub remembered in East End folklore as the site of a infamous gangland shooting . The pub has good food.
D. F.
Super busy because of the Champions League final but respectable clientele, cool friendly barstaff and a huge beer garden made the visit worthwhile.
f.
Quaint pub with a fascinating history. Outside beer garden is done really well. Can get quite crowded which hinders service.
C. H.
I went here because of the Kray twins! Nice pub with friendly staff, huge beer garden, not a huge selection of beers but I'd go again.
S. P.
Visited because of its infamous past. We thought the Fullers London Pride was rather tired. Maybe that's why the place was pretty well empty.
G. V.
Box standard English pub. Nice young staff. Huge beer garden a bonus as well as a pool table inside.
k. b.
Off the bucket list. The famous Krays pub.
Good atmosphere. Polite staff. Great prices on drinks
A. N.
A little spooky during COVID but still a solid little beer garden hidden away in the void as hip happening East London seems to trail off.
S. P.
Amazing place, very friendly people and a great pub to drink in
S. C.
Decent place, a little pricey with over a 5er for a pint. A littler quieter than central. AWESOME beer garden!
X. W.
Lovely beer selection, friendly staff, excellent beer garden round the back. Not the best pub in the area, but certainly a little jewel in Whitechapel's crown.
J. T.
Especially good in the summer due to excellent beer garden, quick service even when busy, which is usually, manager has a solid hiring policy, semi famous due to a gangland murder, who doesn't like that?
S. S.
Very welcoming, lovely staff & a lovely cat called Edward, our meal 2 burgers were delicious xx
j. h.
infamous pub very pleasant staff
j. c.
Nice interior. Good service... Interesting venue as if you're reading this im sure you're aware of what happened there in the 60s
c. l.
Basic boozer with a great house ale that 'beggers belief' how good it is... One down point is they reserve tables that sit empty for hours while others sit cold in the garden.
S. L.
Come for abit of London history: where the gangster Krays used to hang. Otherwise the food is forgettable (their famed hot dogs came out overdone...almost burnt) and beer is ok.
I. b. #.
Good beer and nice service.
Update good food. The hotdogs are awesome, looking forward to try the burger tomorrow
J. M.
Lovely helpful staff who made my experience all the better thank you so much 😊
A. A.
Nice pub. Good garden area. Didn't have any of the food but it looked good
s. d.
Always a blast when I come here, said Reggie Kray. Actually now it's massively overpriced (£6.10 for a Coors and packet of crisps). Lucky for the staff I wasn't packing.
K. C. (. c.
Love it 😀
M. L.
Popped in one Friday night. The place was bit crowded but still few free seats left. Staff was friendly, got a beer garden.
s. c.
Real ale consists of Doom Bar, Sharps Atlantic, London Pride. The Pride And Doom Bar were off and the Atlantic wasn't the greatest. Won't be rushing back.
J. L.
Historic and interesting place to have a drink
J. H.
Great pub, staff happy to answer your questions regarding the Kray twins. Great outdoor are also. 👍
B. C.
A great East End pub with lots of history,
Always wanted to visit the Blind Beggar glad I did.
The Staff are great well.
N. J.
Nice ambiance, has a fire place and a pool table. The place is very warm and classy. The service is also great and so are the beers
D. O.
Serviceable pub. Reasonable outdoor space. There is nothing that recommends it being outstanding, but pretty good for the area.
i. h.
Lovely outside beer garden
W. B.
Great beer garden with gigantic fish. Famous for being where Ronnie Kray killed someone. For the present day, it's good. No more, no less
s. m.
Very friendly staff who didnt mind us looking around at a piece of history. The pub cat is also very cute.
S. B.
Lovely pub excellent beer and with a history of East end gangsters..Always wanted to go here and was not disapointed.
P. G. F.
Really nice staff. they show matches, very good communications. they have propper cheese and meatboards and they have a really nice garden with wooden tables and billiard! u have to try it!
F. B.
Also quite nice pub great beer garden food is there went there myself due to the links with the Krays but the staff were unable to give me any information didn't seem very knowledgeable about it being a tourist destination for this reason so overall worth a visit as this is the place where Ronnie Kray shot Cornell but it's quite underwhelming compared to what I expected
F.
Just opening wish them well. Need to back up and running!!.Good atmosphere
C. W.
Staff are friendly, cute bar cat too - she is beautiful. Cool atmosphere too.
M. D.
we had a few days in london were we decided to visit some of the places the kray twins had been which took us to the blind begger did not eat but had a couple of drinks the staff were friendly the landlord had a smile very clean and tidy would recommend a visit
S. M.
Great selection of beers, friendly staff, good beer garden and really good prices. Great place to let loose.
D. C.
Great selection of beers to choose from, plus generally quite a cool place to visit because of the history.
R. G.
A typical pub with a suprisingly nice outside area (including a fish pond), great hot dogs and standard drinks at reasonable prices
S. F. (.
Great place to have a beer with food, the beer garden is forever changing which keeps things fresh.
G. H.
Made 3 visits up to now nice atmosphere was nice not my taste in music. Food place to unwind staff nice and friendly as always
G. M.
Very nice pub, with historic links to the Krays, but don't hold that against it.
L.
I liked the food a lot. The staff was very kind too. Nice place. I would recommend.
B.
Not as traditional as you would think an East End pub would be
M. h. P.
Great looking pub, lovely burger and hot dog would of like a plate with my lunch instead of eating out of a box
P. F.
Very helpful staff but they didn't know much about the George Cornell incident which in my eyes they should know about as this pub must attract plenty of Tourists and the infamous killing is part of the pub's history!
S. M. P.
I went there for halloween night for the first in my life and had a really good time! I live nearby so I will repeat ☺
P. B.
It has a pair of cute cats, who I assume are named Ronnie and Reggie. Also has a pool table, a garden, and beer. No gangsters in sight, except possibly the cats.
S. I.
Popped in for a quick 1 as we went past. Its just your average pub. The ladies toilets smelt of gas.
A. P.
Cool classically British bar with warm tones on decor and a great beer garden and solid food menu
I. W.
Full of history, friendly and clean
C. H.
Great bar with history but the landlord should use what happened in 1966 to gain more punters
D. J.
Great old style pub, left pretty much as it was. Staff was helpful with the history.
V. d. C.
Awesome place to grab a beer with some friends and affordable. Not much food variety but a great beer garden
S. B.
A sightless, old homeless chap that roams the streets. I gave the poor fella £13.89 which he spent on Rizlas, lager and comedy spectacles.
B. K.
Good beer garden, relatively cheap drinks, good hotdogs, and slightly more environmentally friendly urinals.
J. R.
First visit and the staff are so friendly! We'll be back!
V. V.
Great pub with fire place, loads of space, a bit of an old mans pub but nice for the area
T. P. H.

E. K.
Went here for a couple drinks with work colleagues. We stayed in the outdoor terrace which has a very nice atmosphere.
M. B.
Lovely english pub with great food, fast and kind service and fine beer.

w. f.
Good service. Good out door seating. Beer is a bit pricey
J. I.
The historic connection to the London underworld.
Legend has it the bullet that killed George Cornell by Ronnie Kray is embedded in the wall behind a large mirror.
B. S.
Friendly staff and good beer felt comfortable and relaxed
M. F.
