Reviews of The Builders Arms Pub Chelsea
A. D.
One of the best pubs in Chelsea. Lively crowd and attentive bar staff. The decor of the pub is very homely and relaxing. The only issue here is that the pub restaurant menu is quite pricey compared to other venues. Apart from that it is perfect.
P. G.
Have been coming here for years and it remains consistent in quality but it is now expensive for even a very decent pub meal. Great location of course. Sometimes short staffed recently but those present try hard and are pleasant enough. Manager takes a close interest in, and responsibility for, standards of food and service which isn’t always the case even in foodie pubs.
A. R.
I know tha venu has changed hands recently but that has only been a benefit to the local community.
The staff seem so much more engaged and the level of service we receive when we come in is second to none.
Special mention for one of your managers a young Italian man I forget his name but he always makes sure we are well looked after
T. J.
Really nice spot, makes for a perfect Sunday roast, or just a jolly pub lunch on any other day of the week.
Charming setting with comfortable chairs, and interesting artwork throughout (the alternative Mona Lisa at the entrance was particularly eye catching).
Food-wise, I had the vegan burger with the sweet potato fries. The fries were really good (but nothing out of the ordinary). The burger itself was ok, nothing mind blowing, and a bit dry. I might suspect that vegan burgers are not really this pub’s specialty…
The dessert however was delicious, we ordered the sticky toffee pudding, like the respectable Londoners that we are, and it was excellent: the caramel ice cream combined perfectly with the warm and moist cake, dripping with the classically decadent toffee sauce. The honeycomb pieces added a delightful touch. I’ve had many STPs since I came to London 5 years ago, but this was was particular good.
P. L. R.
Decent gastropub with outdoor tables. Good food and real ale available.

Lovely, popular pub with good food but when we visited the service was a little slow.

Lovely interior design and tasty food great atmosphere 5 star 🌟 staff

Great pub in a Chelsea backstreet. Lovely ambience and great-tasting food. Thank you for a great night out!
V.
The pub is elegant we loved the interior design, we will be back in May to see how it will be renewed.
The food was good.
The waitress was very welcoming, professional, and friendly.
M. P.
Vey pleasant off the "main road" dining. We only had a light lunch and coffee
Service was good, the table we had was a bit wobbly, but we fixed it ourselves. Well worth a visit. I look forward to returning for a longer stay

Lovely interior design and tasty food great atmosphere 5 star 🌟 staff

This is one of the best places to go to experience a real English pub. The traditional fish and chips are great. It has a variety of meals including some vegan and vegetarian options. The dessert menu is also great which includes the toffee pudding (pictured). It can get crowded so I would recommend reserving a table in advance.

Lovely, popular pub with good food but when we visited the service was a little slow.
M. B.
Great pub in a Chelsea backstreet. Lovely ambience and great-tasting food. Thank you for a great night out!
Z. S.
The waitress Stevie bent over backwards to please a very high maintenance group of young ladies. Patience of a saint, thank you Stevie! The food was A1. This is a lovely cosy pub, a real hidden gem. XX
K. A.
Excellent service and great food. Nothing is too much for the staff here, and a good lively crowd. If you want to go to a good pub with a lively atmosphere and a relaxed environment without the formalities, come here!
A. C.
Fabulous pub and super friendly staff. The one server was fabulously kind to our dog (we both had schnauzers!) and made us super welcome. Great location and super selection of drinks. Will definitely be back for food!
l. a.
Great friendly pub with fantastic array of alcohol selection and to finish it all off the staff are wonderful.
M. A.
A very nice pub in Chelsea with very friendly staff, very good beer 🍺 options and delicious foods. We will be back 👍
j. i. c.
Very cosy place, more quiet than other pubs, good food as well.
T. M.
Nice bar, good location, staff were very friendly
W. C.
A lovely pub. Great beer and food. Nice decor inside.
D. P.
Beer was perfect. Tried a 1/2 before committing to more. Disappointed the that wife preferred to stay at hotel. Could have settled in otherwise. CV19 was a bit of a downer as it was a little quiet. Great place to hide when on a "shopping mission"
F. d. T.
Staff was accommodating and friendly. Took a while to get the drinks out but we were there before open time sonI can't fault them too much on that. Super cozy place. Amazing decor! You can get lost inside just staring at everything. It feels like someone's home. Food was okay too.
M. G.
Very nicely kept pub, good beers and menu. Newly extended terrace seating area to the front. Nice staff.
P. B.
Came for a big family Xmas lunch on Sunday. Fantastic setting, attentive service & excellent food. Highly recommended.
G. V.
Very good food, homey and cozy atmosphere, friendly and nice staff
E. M.
Very good menu, good service and agreeable staff. Certainly recommend for mid-week lunch, may be quite busy at weekends.
N. R.
We had fish taco's, fish & chips and a bottle of Rose here a couple of nights ago, and had a great experience. The staff were rushed off their feet as you can imagine, but we never felt overlooked or forgotten. Good Covid safety; NHS track and trace before you sit down and an app for ordering, so it's a contactless service. Two honourable mentions go to the outdoor heaters which really helped with the cold and the fact that our little dog was alone to join us.
m. l.
Nice chips. The batter a bit too oily. The bartender did not pull a good pint. Too much foam.
J. P.
Great drinks, ambiance and service. Dog friendly too (outside, at least). The food looks pretty good too although I’ve only tried the burger.
P. J.
Friendly staff. Civilised clientele. Nice neighbourhood :-) I only had a beer with friends so presently cannot comment on the food, however the meals on the blackboard menu were 10 pounds and looked interesting. It seems that booking a table is a good idea because our table and tables around us needed to be vacated for bookings (in a pleasant way of course). So I think it's popular.
J. B.
Great food, good service..... we had a fun time sitting out on the patio at this pub. Love ordering everything through the App too.
J. B.
We were visiting Chelsea on a recent visit to London with our family and looking for a good pub experience. We were pleasantly surprised by The Builders Arms.
The decor is warm and inviting and updated. The staff was friendly and helpful, accommodating our party of 6 without reservation. I think it helped that we were a bit early as the place had filled by the time we left.
The food was outstanding and a bit better quality than you'd expect from a typical "pub". The fish and chips were great, as was the fish special and Guinness and beef pie, also a special.
Overall, great experience that we highly recommend. Prices are on the high side for a pub, but know that the quality of the food and atmosphere are also above standard.
N. C.
One of the best pubs in London. I became a local here returning from the States a few months back and its transformation under Hippo Inns is fantastic. The people, decor, atmosphere, food, community and loyalty to its locals, but also inviting to new people is spot on. Well done Hippo Inns and well done to Nadia and her excellent team. See you on the 2nd December...
K. C.
Beautiful modern pub. Great staff. Nice place to relax.
A. D.
Nice pub for a Sunday lunch.
w. s.
My husband and I ambled along to this lovely pub today. It is the first time we have been here. Stuart my husband had a half a pint and I had a coffee. We loved this place and sat at the bar. We will definitely come back with friends for lunch. It is tucked away off the Kings Road and is beautifully decorated. The ladies loo needs some attention though but a lovely pub.
B. P.
The menu is extremely good particularly the range of starters. I had a bubble and squeak with chorizo and an egg in hollandaise sauce on the top and a side salad- delicious, and no need for a main. Delicious puds too - we shared a chocolate bomber with vanilla ice cream, spoons flying in from all directions... and coffee. All in all the perfect light Sunday lunch.
A. W. t.
Very nice looking pub and great food
C.
Nice decor and polite staff. Pleasant overall.
K. T.
I had my birthday party at the Builders Arms last Saturday and the evening was wonderful. Everything started off on the right foot from the emails to make the booking and plan the night with helpful and prompt replies to my requests/questions.
The space booked was very cosy, the décor warm and stylish and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. We were occupying the snug area in the middle of the pub. The area is ''semi-private'' and was perfect to accommodate our party which included a few kids and they enjoyed it as well without causing a big fuss to the rest of the customers (I hope).
On the night the service was excellent with the staff being very kind and attentive to my guests. I had pre-ordered some nibbles from the canapés menu for the event and everything tasted amazing; especially the croquettes and the mini fish and chips were outstanding. Drinks were reasonably priced for a London pub.
Overall it was a great experience and I am happy I chose this venue. I highly recommend it, especially if you want a nice place for a special event. It is a lovely pub!
a. m.
Great restaurant/pub. We decided to hold a wedding dinner at this pub because of its close proximity to the Chelsea town hall but mainly because of the nice relaxed atmosphere and great decor inside. During the dinner the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Francesca and Alex did an amazing job catering for the needs of 34 people and going above and beyond what was expected of them, as the restaurant isn't a pure "wedding" type venue. They were always in contact with us about preparations. The service was fantastic and the selection and quality of drinks was very good too. The food itself was good, but not great and not much to brag about. But overall we had an amazing time, and because of the great service, great bar/drinks selections and general decor/atmosphere this place gets 5 stars from me :)
C. J.
Excellent Sunday roast here and very friendly staff.
N.
While visiting London, we went twice, this was a neighbourhood pub, close to our Airbnb. First time we had the fish and chips and it was good. Second time we came for Robbie Burns night. That was a great experience. Set menu, piper piped in the Haggis and delivered the Ode. Food was plenty for the price. Service excellent and Friendly. Atmosphere wonderful. If I lived here this would be a regular place for me.
N. C.
Good food but stressful as staff didn’t wear masks or social distance with anyone. First bad experience I’ve had when eating out since lockdown has eased. Most places have been really on it and careful.
S. L.
Great food and atmosphere! Always reliable. Thanks guys!
K. L.
Wonderful!!! Staff also!
A.
Food doesn't have to be so expensive. Quality food is given at far less. The problem lies with people who need to be seen to spend. And I guess this menu caters to that, which is a shame. However, it is a friendly pub. Even though those in the dining side seemed very serious - perhaps the price affected their enjoyment?
N. R.
Relaxed atmosphere in this Chelsea pub. Menu had a range of classic pub fare which was served with a smile and tasted good. Drinks are normal London prices. Good range of gin and the Young's bitter never fails to please
P. W.
I was a little wary of how much you’d have to pay for a roast in Chelsea, just off the King’s Road but at The Builder’s Arms £16 for a Chicken Roast seemed pretty reasonable. Then comes the concern that it might not be up to scratch considering it’s not priced en par with the other premium places around the area, or even the drinks within the place itself (which are pricey, but within what you’d expect for the area).
However, I needn’t have worried, the roast was fantastic. Best I’ve had in ages. Most importantly it nails the three corner stones of a good roast:
1. Gravy is supplied in a jug on the side so you can manage your own soggyness.
2. It is not stingy with the roasties; 4 good-sizes roast potatoes is a good helping. None of this less is more nonsense.
3. They very wisely supply a satisfyingly-hefty Yorkshire Pudding no matter which meat you choose (there was beef, chicken or pork belly for our visit). Avoiding the “only with beef” snobbery you find elsewhere.
On top of that you get a great helping of vegetables (perhaps more than I’ve eaten in total in the past two weeks) including swede mash, cabbage, parsnip, carrots and butternut squash.
The only fault I can find is that our table for two was a little cramped for two big plates of roast dinner and two drinks. But what a problem to have, huh?
9/10 - would totally roast again.
A. M.
Lovely pub however service is a bit hit and miss. For instance, they overcharged our bill and the menu/service was a bit shabby. Some things didn't come as they said on the menu and food wasn't worth what we paid for. Nevertheless, it's a great pub and somewhere really nice to grab a pint.
A. G.
A lovely pub for a meal. A little on the expensive side, and busy on weeknights (young professional croud), but the food is good and the staff are very nice. Table space can be a little short sometimes, but they do their best to accommodate.
A. L.
Excellent Sunday roast, lovely service. If not for covid restrictions, it would be a perfectly enjoyable Sunday lunch. Not the pub's fault, of course.
E. S.
Cracking pub lovely food. Had a lovely meal & lunch drinks with my likely future mother in law!
j. A.
I really want to like this place more, but there are a couple of things working against it which might be almost a little unfair to bring up. This pub is loud, even with a few people in it thanks to acoustics that would better serve a music venue but work against the pub. The layout makes the pub an almost mini-labyrinth and with staff dashing all over the place with plates of what looks like very tasty food, it's not a relaxing place to pass through. All of that being said, the staff are friendly, and the beer is good.
N. C.
Good food, lovely place and good service - shame we booked an outside table but were sat inside. Otherwise, super.
G. T.
Food is average but the drinks/cocktails are great. Ambience of pub is nice given COVID measures, although service is quite slow.
C. M.
Very friendly staff. Accommodating of the two young children in our party. Sunday roasts were tasty and good sized portions. Prices typical of area.
J. L.
Better experience in recent visits, compared to its old teams in the past. Nice spot for a drink and some easy going food.
s. e.
Only popped in right at the end of the night. Friendly atmosphere and lovely staff made us welcome even though they were closing soon
M. T.
We had Christmas lunch here on the 24th of December. Service was slow at first. Our food came quickly, but I found my roast beef too dry, roast potatoes were slightly burnt and my yorkshire pudding was burnt on one side. We were given one serving of gravy for 5 of us which was not enough.
We have been on other occasions and food has been great, so perhaps this was just an off day for them.
T. P.
Great spot off Kings Roads for a pint and some food!
J. K.
Nice pub good service and the sun was out
C. W.
Food is really good here, and prices reasonable. One of Chelsea's hidden treasures. Intimate rustic ambience with a touch of Moroccan style. Nice secluded seating in places.
S. W.
Excellent pub with nice decor and atmosphere on a residential road set back a little from the Kings Road. Busy, but not overly packed on a Friday evening and a couple of good ales to choose from. Food in the restaurant was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful and prices ok considering this is the heart of Chelsea.
S. B.
Lovely pub with very friendly staff and excellent customer service, relaxing atmosphere and comfy, very nice area set back from main road, will visit again In future.
P. E.
Extraordinarily friendly staff, great selection of lager - I have yet to try the food but it's a lovely hidden gem I intend to visit more often
E. B.
Friendly pub with nice staff and a good atmosphere. The food is very tasty and about average in price (for London). No mint sauce available for the lamb but you can't have it all!
S. F.
Great neighbourhood pub just off the beaten path. Had a nice local feature to it. Very food orientated. The flag ship pub of Geronimo inns, now youngs but a good individual feel.
J. D.
Great food. Good service. Lovely pub
T. B.
I had a lovely pint of Doom Bar, the pub has an up-to-date modern decoration and really comfortable seating. Bar staff were super friendly and welcoming. A nice pub.
Z. H.
It's nice, very Chelsea, so much some of the made in Chelsea clowns showed up. Wine list is mediocre and obviously overpriced and the food is good enough, not very imaginative. Great place for a pint and a chat.
T. C.
Excellent service, delicious food, good wine list
Very nice
P. G.
Great pub just off the King's Road. The food is always very good.
M.
This is a nice pub, but the service let’s it down. The barmaid was moody and they didn’t have the ingredients for a very basic cocktail. I expected better.
A. M.
This is a lovely bar, good vibe, great service and helpful and welcoming staff. We were impressed with the dinner. Recommend the crumble! We had a super evening
T. K. D.
Nice little pub out the way of busy kings road. Small TV so not a place to watch sport but maybe kept this way deliberately. Friendly staff, good beer and good food
J. T.
Always a nice atmosphere and the food was very good... all around good visit
B. D.
Great comfortable place to relax and enjoy a drink
A. G.
Pretty decent pub, interior a bit excessively designed.
E. B.
Great venue, we had brunch which has a good selection of food on the menu. Service was very attentive, and I can imagine it being a good place for evening food and drinks.
M. J.
Super lunch outside in the sun. Great service, the always super bitter and wonderful moules mariniere. Thank you all !!
C. M.
Hotmail good food and service. Main bar area full of happy noises, but still some quiet corners where you can have a good conversation because you can hear each other talk.
J. G.
Very nice wine and at a good price too. The food was excellent, beautiful hake and a lovely pie. Excellent Saturday afternoon / evening.
S.
great sunday lunches, friendly staff and ample comfy seating areas inside or outside. Also dog friendly which is great there is always a cute dog or pup around!
G. W.
Very nice food, great service. Lovely, friendly staff. Found us a table at very short notice.
J. B.
Okay, it was fine. My reservation being that it was a hot day and the small beer garden was crowded with smokers. No fault of the pub's.
R. M.
A nice, friendly, very expensive bar just off the Kings Road in Chelsea.
Good for an ocassional visit but would be broke if I made it my local.
Guess thats Chelsea for you though...
k. h.
Cute little pub but nothing special
A. H.
Delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Best of all dog friendly. The staff are really on the ball too. All round brill!
P. R.
What a fantastic pub. The welcome and service by the team there is exemplary. The landlord must be delighted that they have such a professional team.
M. B.

Nice friendly gastro pub with good food. Long gone are the days of Saturday night lock ins and Match of The Day but a good pub to while away a weekend
m. c.
A fab place to meet up with friends. In winter the seats by the fire are the best. The place has a great atmosphere.
B. S.
Good food, good service, but lacks flair and personality of the Sydney Arms. Fancier meal - Yes, place to let loose? - No
N. H.
Nice pub and lacking builders fortunately !!

(Translated) I was taken care of from time to time around 2007. The first delicious restaurant in the UK is the one you definitely want to visit again. The fish and chips, which weighed 12 pounds, were more delicious than any other store, and the chandy was also delicious.
It is located in the Chelsea district, a short walk from South Kensington Station. It is recommended.

(Translated) I came to this area in order to eat egg benedict. He originally wanted to go to tom ’s fruit room, but he only served it before 11 o'clock. He looked around and came here. This shop only eats after 12 o'clock, and only serves drinks before 12 o'clock
I ordered Cappuccino and mocha for drinks. I have to praise the chocolate drink. It has a strong taste of chocolate. I am a sweet lover, so my opinion is a bit sweet.
Builders benedict: Salad with saucer, very tasty, sweet and sour. The spring ham taste is not strong. egg benedict is a bit disappointed, his sauce is not my favorite, it seems a bit of cinnamon
Grilled chicken: Smoked fish, salty. Chicken is not chickeny, but it is roasted well
Spinach: It's too oily, it's salty and not bad
Mushrooms: too oily, but good
Good service in this shop

Grilled chicken :有煙燻過的魚,偏鹹。雞肉沒雞味,但烤得香
Spinach:偏多油,偏鹹,也不錯
Mushrooms:偏多油,但好味
這家店的服務不錯
