Reviews of The Calthorpe Arms
W. B.
It's still a nice old pub!
'Ram Pubs', the tenanted side of the pubco Youngs, did a makeover of the Calthorpe shortly before they sold it, and around 50 other pubs, to Punch Taverns. Thus the Calthorpe benefits from that modernisation. As an aside, what didn't get modernised was the pub sign : it was spared the 'initial letter' nonsense seen on the rest of the estate.
Anyway, back to the pub.
I don't recall the brewery names but there were a couple of taps with real ale on. The staff were friendly and efficient. The price of £4.90 a pint was expected for the area.
There are sturdy seats and tables on the pavement in the adjacent Wren Street. We sat at the table nearest the corner entrance and watched the minimal traffic on the Grays Inn Road, while listening to someone singing from across the road, possibly from the London Welsh Centre. Across the road from the pub in Wren Street is St Andrews Gardens, making these outside tables a pleasant place to sit.

Great Roast! They had a chicken and lamb option, both for 8,25.
The food was amazing and the portions were huge. It was served with lots of veggies and a delicious sauce. The staff were also very nice and mindful of covid-19 safety measures.
Will be back!
