Reviews of The Carpenter's Arms
M. A.
Lovely pub. First class service, great atmosphere. Real ales and cocktails to cater for all. Outstanding chefs. Food superb. Highly recommend!
H. P.
This was our first visit under the new management and I’d recommend it.
The ambiance is cosier and interesting with an eclectic mix of furniture and accessories which avoid the over-designed trap.
The food was delicious with plenty to chose from on the menu and specials blackboard (the mussels were some of the best I’ve had).
We sat by the real fire in the corner which I loved. Guests were over-warmed by the radiator under their bench, but do ask for table 2 or 3 if you feel the cold!
Service was a bit ragged to start with - our first waiter said he was new and then forgot to put in our order for olives and salted almonds. Delicious when they arrived twenty minutes later but not the pre-meal snack with drinks envisaged…Service recovered and our courses came in a timely manner, so no harm done. Especially given quality of the cooking.
They say toilet facilities are an indicator and I hope the success the new The Carpenters Arms is enjoying will enable investment in that area which is functional rather than welcoming.
Overall a very good evening and we’ll be back soon.

Had an absolutely beautiful evening after wanting to try for a while.
We had Oysters (beautiful!!) and Mussels to start, and then Veal and Steak, and a lot of wine!
Our friends popped in to join us after for a drink and we definitely stayed a bit longer than we should have but serving staff were so hospitable!
Such a relaxed evening. Can’t wait to come back!
W. F.
Lovely staff very attentive and a delicious array of wines to choose from. The best thing is the food the chef has nailed the cooking of all meats I would highly recommend the veal as it was cooked to perfection. Lovely place. It’s why it’s one of my favourite pubs.

I had a late lunch with friends yesterday and the food was excellent. Really good quality, mega sized portions and lots of options. The music is great, the staff are friendly and it’s got a lovely vibe.

Was quite underwhelmed by our meal here after wanting to visit for ages.
One good point- the staff were very nice.
The bill was very expensive for a meal that I thought was slightly lacking - starters were nice but limited choice, main was okay - a large bit of pork with plain new potatoes, and the dessert choice was poor so we didn't have one. The wine I chose was average, a rather sweet rosé.
The seats outside also very uncomfortable.
Disappointing and probably wouldn't return as it's overpriced for what you get.

Excellent location
Professional service (chloe) 5 stars
Great daily food selection and affordability

Beautiful pub and a dreamy garden! I love the rustic/barn vibe of the decor with beautiful plants all over. The service was really friendly and the all over atmosphere relaxing. Perfect place for a romantic date or a get together with friends. Haven't tried the food yet but it's on my to do list. Definitely recommend this independent pub for a nice relaxing time. 🤗🤗🤗

Nice pub.
Food offering might look pretty slim and pretentious: it actually is, but these guys know what they're doing and definitely deliver in taste.
Weather permitting, the backyard garden is also a nice setting to just have a refreshing beer or a full meal.
F. S.
Very pretty garden eating area with a nice atmosphere. Lovely at night with the lights. Staff were friendly and polite. Food was ok. Not amazing, but ok. Menu seemed heavily leaning toward meat/steak main meal options, but there were still a few choices for vegetarians. No chicken options on the night we went, but one fish one. If you're very hungry order a side veg too or you might still be hungry.
M. W.
Such a good Sunday lunch meal, the outside area is great and relaxed atmosphere, and when it rained they quickly and hassle-free moved us to a table inside. Whilst the service was slightly slow, the food more than made up for it. Highly recommend the burrata, the hake and the roast. Will definitely be coming back!
R. C.
What a fantastic pub the food is first class delicious and the staff were amazing I’ll be back definitely 🥂😊

Have had hit & miss experiences here pre-covid, the garden is lovely but it's more an intimate meet pub than an anyone anytime relaxed atmosphere... Owing to the crowd it draws and the staff/menu -can be overpriced for what it is & quality of service.
Currently has limited street side take away and a few tables outside, indoor & garden not open yet!
Will be interesting to see how the place fairs when fully reopened.

Idyllic venue, romantic inside and glorious out, absolutely superb good with a fixed price format which makes it feel you are part of the evening experience rather than just another diner. The venue draws you in, the food makes you come back. Great for small groups of 2 to 6.

Everything about this place was 5 stars!
The service from their staff who made sure we were looked after, Chloe, Connor, Callum and Polly was second to none!
The food was amazing - pork belly was amazing with the most delicious crackling is something I will be telling everyone about. The seafood was fresh and delicious!
Ieva’s espresso martinis were also something to be desired couldn’t leave with just one!
Can’t wait to come back

They have top quality food but the waitressing doesn't level with the expectation. Wrong drink and food was served yo our table 3 times, My personal belongings was being moved and lifted up without being asked before the waiter took away the menu undernath my purse, feeling quite upset after that and did not stay for dessert.
M. H.
Burrata was delicious so was the steak!
R. F.
Great food and staff, set lunch is a bargain and the garden is lovely when sunshine comes out. Short but interesting and affordable wine list
H. M.
Absolutely gorgeous garden setting for dinner. Service was great.
The food is really average. So disappointed. Sounds good, looks nice but is really meh.
The bread (that we paid for) is appalling. We were given tiny little peices. The kind a child would dip into an egg. Kind of summed it all up.
J. H.
Had a lovely roast last Sunday in the beautiful garden!
I stumbled across this pub while exploring the area and simply had to come back to enjoy the food in the garden, the Porcetta roast is amazing by the way!
It was a three course menu for £35 and every single part of our food was amazing!
Service was attentive and friendly and the service didn’t feel rushed, we got a little break in between the courses to enjoy the wine and to prepare our bellies for the next round of treats (we were stuffed by the end of our visit!)
We will definitely come back to try the other dishes!
R. C.
Fabulous garden, decor, food and service and very dog friendly too !!! 🐅🐆🐈🌷🌲🍀🌴🌻
P. H.
Friendly staff, great beer garden, lush food of high quality. Tranquil.
G. I.
Lovely garden to eat in with great lunchtime atmosphere. The food is pretty awesome too.....need to go back and try pretty much everything as got food envy even after 3 courses.
P. H.
Great food and service, plus outdoor area fantastic + dog friendly!
I. H.
Fabulous! Interesting menu and great wines. Worth a visit in this tucked away street
A. C.
Delicious three course dinner, lovely atmosphere, crackling open fire, beautiful winter garden. If you eat at the early sitting it's £25. Highly recommended.
C. E.
Unquestionably my favourite pub in London for all seasons.
Firepits, outdoor heaters and blankets make sitting outside in Winter no issue at all, and very enchanting. In summer, the foliage and green of the patio is a wonderful escape. Indoors the pub is charming but clearly well run, maintained and caters to a sophisticated clientele. Equally good for a meal or a quick, quiet drink in a cosy atmosphere any time of year.
S. W.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff!
B. A.
Not your regular pub! Hidden away between the river and the high road, this is a small gem with a very cute garden, great during the sunny days. The menu features unconventional dishes - don't expect any classics - but full of flavours. It's not cheap but it's certainly worth its price for a tasty supper.
C. S.
I could not have been happier with our dinner here. We were worried that we had turned up a but too late, without a booking and with a dog but that wasn't a problem at all. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and despite arriving later I the evening, our food came out quickly. The food was fantastic. We ordered the gazpacho, hummus, burrata, squid and mackerel. It was all exceptional and easily puts this pub, in my opinion, into the best in Hammersmith.
m. m.
One of my favorite place in London. It is true, it is not cheap and you have to wait quite a long time between ordering and having the plate delivered to you. Well, as soon as you will taste your food, you'll know it's definitely worth it; every single dish is amazing, they change the menu quite often and the staff is super friendly.
S. K.
A true London gem! Some of the most delicious food I have eaten, with a regularly changing menu. The service is always friendly and the staff are attentive to the customers needs. The pub is newly refurbished and has a lovely garden - which was the perfect place to celebrate my husbands 50th yesterday! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious food in a lovely place.
M. L.

A. V.
Overpriced, but tasty
F. S. S.
Firstly a bit expensive for what it was. The people who work there are lovely both bar and waiting staff. Very attentive to our family. Just think quality of food wasn’t there for the price and portions small. Would be good just for drinks. Service was 5 star.
A. R.
Lovely meal, venue and service
M. P.
A very cosy gastro pub where you feel at home. Staff is very nice and helpful. The lamb leg was beautifully cooked and the flavours were amazing. I’ll definitely recommend and come back.
R. L.
Cute local pub with lovely beer garden
M. F.
Good range of tasty food which competes with other West London gastropubs. Smaller, friendly atmosphere. Has a nice garden to eat or drink in.
M. V.
What is there not to love about this place? Food is always fantastic, service is nice, great atmosphere and amazing garden. A go to spot in Chiswick, and my favourite weekend hang out place!
s. w.
Great cosy and local pub. Food was good, staff attentive. Overall a good pub to go if you're in the area!
H. P.
Nice pub and good food, not too pricey
S. H.
There are few good gastro pubs around; this is up there with the best. Along with excellent food there's a lovely atmosphere and outside area. Why it isnt packed remains a mystery to me.
A. M.
Only had some starters but bread was quite terrible. Chips were undercooked. Olives were delicious. The aioli was a nice touch.
R. W.
Such a nice place. Simon was a great manager with very good service. The food was delicious and the beer garden was lovely.
R. L. R.
Delicious food and friendly staff. The garden is beautiful and cosy.

L. A.
Love this pub, dimly lit and lots of space. Extensive wine list, friendly staff and board games. Superb.
J. J.
The set menu didn't have a great range of food. The steak and chips was ok but the meal seemed fairly expensive overall.
A. N.
An interesting menu well cooked and presented. There are some quirks in the place itself and their service but I will definitely be back!

Food is really good and lovely terrace with a great atmosphere!

(Translated) Although the service was super friendly, and had a beautiful terrace, very functional and protected from the rain, it is not one of my favorite London pubs. The letter is not very abundant and falls a little short. We ordered a winter salad that we could have dispensed with, a risotto, which was very good and some pork ribs that were edible. The pub inside is cozy although a bit dark and noisy. I guess I'll have to give it another chance. The price, because carillo as usual in London. I keep the friendliness of the waiters!
