We had a lovely dinner here with friends. The dining room is lovely and light and the service was warm and friendly. There's a really relaxed vibe and varied menus for both food and drink. We only had eyes for the pie menu and all the food we had was delicious. A great pub grub option in the heart of the west end.

We pay The Clarence a visit every time we go to London, being situated in Mayfair you would usually expect prices to be on the higher end of the scale, it is however very affordable and offers a wide range of great pub food. I chose to have the Applewood smoked macaroni cheese with chicken and bacon and my partner chose the pork belly roast, both dishes were excellent and a decent portion size. We will be visiting again next time we come up to London.

Loud music even at lunchtime, not the most welcoming atmosphere but satisfactory once we sat down. Poor choice of non-alcoholic drinks but nice wine selection. Vegan burger badly overcooked, chef clearly expected it to look like meat when done sufficiently and so burned the outside. Prices very reasonable for the area of London, though.

Two fish and chips and two ciders cost us €40, because they added a "service fee" of 4 euros. They said it was for napkins. I would understand if it was a 4-5 star restaurant or if the service was actually any good, but it wasn't, as I had to ask for the ciders many times, they always forgot it. In the end we didn't even get the ciders we paid for, but some other brand, because they didn't have the ones we wanted. The fish and chips was good though. Updated from 2 to 4 stars, the owner seems really nice, and you didn't deserve such a low rating anyway, sorry about that :)

This was just a quick stop off looking for a place to eat as all the resteraunts seem to close late but stop serving food at 10. So this pub was very quiet as we got therejust after 10 and were the only ones inside in the ground floor bar the upstairs may have had 1 or 2 finishing meals, very spacious pub so on a good day could get very busy, for now I think people are staying away from the pubs in general, support these establishments.

One of my favourite pubs in London, an absolute gem nestled in Mayfair. Good food and drink at reasonable prices. When I was based out of London, I always used to stop off here on my way through. Now I'm living in the city, I walk over as often as I can for a pint (covid restrictions permitting!).

The joy of a good pub is that it isn't a bar and it isn't a restaurant. Granted, both alcohol and food should be served but with a more relaxed air and with a more informal setting. The Clarence manages this well. There is an easy feeling to the place and the selection of drinks is more than enough for a pub. A wonderful couple of hours were spent with friends, the crossword, and a couple more pints than I expected.

Great restaurant. Our hotel staff recommended this place when we were looking for a place in London to get traditional food. She was right. Food was great. My wife had a proper English cup of tea. She loved it. We ate fish and chips and the Chicken and ham hock pie. It's not on the beaten path but well worth finding. Only one server upstairs but he was terrific handling many guests with ease.

I stumbled on this pub when I was looking for a good home cooked styled meal. I was welcomed into the restaurant by a lovely lady that sat me down and took my order. The menu has plenty of verity and both myself and my friends have sampled a fair few of the dishes in our several visits to the pub, I’m happy to report that everything we had was of cracking quality and served piping hot. Good quality, very friendly staff and great prices, it’s a win on all fronts for me.

I went here with a large group of friends. My first impression was that most of the clients were male and wearing suits, not the type of pub I normally go to. When I went the pub was packed and very noisy, almost impossible to hear each other talk. Prices are reasonable considering the clientele and location. The service was very friendly desire the number of people around and generally the atmosphere was pretty convivial. We moved upstairs during the evening to allow for more space. The service upstairs was even not friendly with the barman happy to have a conversation and recommend drinks or food. I had the beef and marrow or with chips and it didn't disappoint, full flavour, nice and juicy. The chips were excellent too. Overall a very pleasant evening.

It was the only place around (that we saw on Piccadilly) that was serving drinks after 11pm on Saturday night - thank goodness for The Clarence! Very decent public house. Staff there are brilliant and know their drink well. Ordered a gin and soda and staff advised to have ginger in as well. Was a very welcomed addition to the drink. Food menu is simple but decent, decor and ambience are well kept. Good value for drinks as well.

Go for the pies ( varied selection), the grilled salmon or the chicken salad... The burger tasted funny (as if the patty had been not so fresh or seasoned for longer than expected waiting for orders. This is a fairly priced casual dining option in an area full of expensive and/ or crowded and) or dresses-up options.

Great selection of gins over summer. Really delicious chips. Often space to sit upstairs if downstairs is rammed. Upstairs is the dining area so at their discretion if you can sit there. You may be want to eat some delicious chips to justify sitting there (shame).

Good atmosphere, clean with friendly staff. Went for the Sunday roast BUT they were sold out of roast beef, so had to get the chicken. Chicken was burnt on one side and really, really dry. Amount of meat on it tested the definition of chicken to be honest. Would have given a lower rating if it wasn't for the Yorkshire puddings - excellent. (Been a while since I last had them.) Overall price....It's in Mayfair!

I came in by accident...just looking for a quick bite and sit down...and ended up staying for hours! It was the day of the Royal Wedding and the barman had dressed as the Queen! Hilarious!everyone was getting their photo taken with him. More and more people kept coming in and more staff kept arriving and seamlessly taking up the slack. Everyone got served. They had the telly on for the ceremony and people were clapping. Great atmosphere. Great pub grub. Good price. Nice decor. Afterwards they had a guitarist who was entertaining. They really went out of their way to look after us without being over the top.

Fairly average but nice pub in Central London. They did have a pretty good gin menu, I had a rhubarb gin with an unusual spiced ginger tonic that was impressive. A small group of us went on Sunday afternoon and easily got a table.

The food was well prepared and the staff friendly and more attentive than at some pubs because we were upstairs. I wish I had known about the big companies buying up pubs and making them like chains. In London you get the same food at almost all of them. It was a bit monotonous. I would hope they would try and vary it so they at least operate a bit like the traditional public houses they used to be. It's kind of sad.

A decent chain pub. The foods pretty standard and there's a very good variety on the pumps. I've been a couple of times in the afternoon recently and it's been relatively busy, but I think after work it must be heaving as it's not a huge space on the ground floor. There is more seating upstairs though which makes life easier when choosing a venue for a group drinks.

Ok place. Waitress did not know the price of beers, did not know that there was a 'rye beer' on tap. No interest whatsoever in the gin selection. A side dish of chips is close to £3 and contains approx. 1 large potato worth of chips. Not impressed at all really. Good selection of beers though.

A great place to meet anyone near Green Park or the Royal Academy, there's a fantastic range of beers here. The food is classic pub grub which is a little hit and miss, but generally decent. Always good staff, some comfortable seating and the interior is pleasant enough. Gets very busy after 5pm on week days.

Food in the Clarence is decent and the upstairs dining area is great for holding business dinners. I've had many a successful meeting there. There is no loud blaring music while you eat and talk, which is rare in pubs nowadays.

I'm not a big fan of this Mayfair pub. It seems a bit cramped and although it has a good location it is quite difficult to move around inside. Have been to one or two functions here and the area that was hired was too small to be used effectively. Food items were good though.

I have never eaten or drank at this establishment, but during the last two Peoples Vote matches they graciously allowed marchers to use their facilities. On Saturday 23rd March 2019 they were clearly prepared, the ladies loo well stocked with toilet paper and plenty of soap. I saw a staff member carrying a massive stack of more loo rolls up the stairs as I left and he seemed in good spirits, if a little tired. I rarely go to London, but I would like to come here and spend my money based solely on my experiences of The Clarence during the two marches I’ve been on.

(Sorry pressed wrong button on phone so never finished review , but here goes) We visit this area about 2 or 3 times a year and have tried everything from the Ritz (taster menu - awesome to Langan' s) But whenever we visit the Clarence it is always the staff that make it along with tasty food. The service, ambiance for what is really a local pub is exceptional, so see you soon. Back home to Cambridge where there is a Nicholsons ( but not the same!!)

A nice spot for a reasonably quiet lunchtime pint. Nice to sit by the window in the summer but very cosy inside during the winter. Decent choice of beer, cider and wine and the food is reasonably priced and none too shabby.

Positive things to say about The Clarence: It's a pub. It's reasonably close to Green Park Station. It serves beer. You can generally get a seat. If you're in a rush for a quick pint or just too lazy to walk, it'll do. And the rest: It's full of tourists, as is to be expected, and the beer isn't exactly well-kept. Both my pints tasted a little off, and one glass was so badly cleaned it had bits floating in it after the pint was poured. Plus, the staff on my visit were a little scatty. Despite hardly anybody at the bar, one barmaid took my order three times, then wandered off to deliver some food and clean tables, leaving another slightly bewildered member of the bar staff to pour it for me. There are some perfectly decent pubs a short walk from Green Park. This isn't one of them.

Popped in for a quick lunch. For a touristy area the pub was very quiet which was a relief. Had the houmous and pepper open sandwich which at £6.25 was a measly affair. The houmous was spread so thinly that it was virtually non existent and barely any feta cheese too. Won't be back for the food. Maybe a beer if I am in the area.
