Reviews of The Coach & Horses
O. F.
Moved to the area 6 months ago and this has become my favourite local. Great selection of beers, well priced and the pizza is great. Whether it’s a quick pint with a mate, settling in for the football or finding a spare table to get some work done it’s a great place to hang out.
P. G.
Great atmosphere and welcoming staff. The temperature of the beer is perfect everytime I'm here! My go to pub for football games
S. D.
A really nice locals pub with a great selection of craft beers and delicious sourdough pizzas. The staff are always nice and friendly. It's a very dog friendly pub so I always drop by with my dog on the way home from the park. It's is a really good spot to watch the sports too.
K. T.
Good selection of beer's and larger, staff were quite pleasant . Small venue but very cosy and the decor is up to standard. Seating comfortable. Atmosphere was quiet , but when full I can examagine it is electric . Toilets are upstairs , bit of a hazard but ok ,a bit on the small size . Overall it seems a nice place for a few drinks. Full stars.
B. W.
Great pub, great pizza and a good place to watch the rugby!
E. K.
Casual and relaxed with prompt, friendly service. Reasonable prices on beer, with regular deals great pizza make The Coach enjoyable and affordable. Regular sport is well presented but not overpowering if you're not a fan (unlike many other pubs).
J. O.
Amazing staff, food, drinks and atmosphere. Been here a few times and would definitely recommend. 10/10
M. E.
Fantastic food, reasonable drink prices and a cosy atmosphere.

My local pub/grub/hangout. I am not a super pub goer but dropped in on Sunday. Following a sunny day with my son and grandson we dropped in for a quick eat and beer. The relaxed outdoor seating area and the staff made the experience so lovely efficient and chilled after our long day..and the pizzas..? WOW.. !!! Those pizzas were THE BEST EVER!! We could have eaten another .. (and I’m not a huge pizza fan because they are often stodgy) Well done to the chef ..we were told he trained for 10 years in italy...every mouthful proved it.
Will be back with my Italian friend Marco...

Friendly staff, good pints and yummy pizza!
S. N.
Nice local pub. Drinks not overpriced (for the area.) Staff quite friendly and professional. Doesn't have that stinky 'pub' smell.
P. H.
Great night out. Friendly staff. Not enough toilets to suit the size of this pub
W. W.
Best Guinness in Clapham, spectacular chaps/chapettes. We respect the lack of odour and bountiful beers! A good churchgoers drinking establishment.
J. G.
A real bobby dazzler of a pub. A hidden diamond in the rough. Proper beer, proper pizza, dog friendly... what more could you want!
T. G.
Top quality boozer - great selection of craft beers/ lagers (in the correct glasses!). Lovely staff
v. a.
Nice variety of beers and cosy atmosphere.
L. W.
Very cool pub. Good friendly vibe, helps that I went with friends who are local who know almost all the members of staff working there. Gin cocktails are yummy. So are the nachos. And screens showing footy. What's not to like?!
E. C.
Great local pub with a good selection of beers. Friendly staff. Usually a nice level of busy and good for live sport. Pizzas are good and well priced too! All round good pub.
F. W.
Lovely pub with great food and friendly staff!
A. C.
This pub has gone through many changes! The latest iteration at time of review is a nice, clean and friendly boozer (that has a decent sized projector screen that shows most of the football) that serves tasty pizzas. Good quality beer selection, friendly staff and a nice, clean, comfy environment.
C. J. S.
Great value on their Monday 2 for 1 pizza night and welcoming atmosphere 👍
T. M.
Great selection of beers and a cracking pub quiz, doughnuts not bad either!
D. G.
Great bar. The staff are really friendly and they have an amazing selection of craft beers. Their only food offer is pizzas but they are really good. I usually drop by on game days to watch the game in a nice friendly atmosphere.
W. T.
Great little pub on acre Lane. Good selection of beers on tap with outside heated seating
B. M.
Fantastic selection of beers, and a range of pizzas with cool toppings. I went on a pub quiz night and really enjoyed it - it was well run and the quizmaster engaged with the teams well, and the pub was very accommodating of all the guests. Good prizes too!
P. T.
Good local pub does great pizza
D. M.
Great pub, never too busy (unless there's a big sporting event on the projector) and does amazing, reasonably priced pizzas.
There's also a well run, good humoured pub quiz every Sunday. Highly recommended!
C. C.
Brilliant local. Tasty Italian pizza with a central round bar. Outside seating at the front.
H. H.
Great place to hang out with mates or catch a game. They have also been doing 2.4.1 pizza on Tuesdays! On that note, the pizza is really good, not the best in London but a solid 4*. The beer selection here is my favourite thing about this place with a constantly changing mix of craft options. Toilets upstairs and tables out front for those warm summer night. This place is worthy stop on the 137
B. W.
This is a great little gem of a pub! Not only do they have a great selection of craft beer and good pizza (it's not a pizzeria, but it's good pub pizza), they also have a great selection of card and board games including Chess, Settlers of Catan, Exploding Kittens and Battleship.
There's also a good loyalty scheme so make sure to ask for a card at the bar. I think it's 8-10 pints and you walk away with two extra cans of craft beer.
J. K.
Some of the best selection of beers I've seen in one place. Good prices too. Check out their 241 pizza at some point in the week. The Ladies behind the bar are just fabulous and have an extensive knowledge over what's on tap. Serious eye candy too...
m.
Nice pub, good selection of craft beers. Bit overly bright but that’s minor especially when so many pubs are too far the other way. No cask but I don’t fall out with that cos the Gamma Ray was delicious. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is cos the poor bartender was left on his own for 4+ hours on a Friday night with no support from a manager? He worked so hard, was proactive and welcoming throughout but surely there’s a working time regulation that stipulates a staff member needs a break? Felt really wrong to me but you could tell he styled it out and played it down to locals. Good to find a pub off the high st, hopefully they add 1 more pair of hands next time round
J. L.
Nice friendly pub, great beers and wines, and excellent pizzas!
J. H.
Amazing pizza! Only £6, with lots of beer choices.
E. S.
Great little pub. Full of atmosphere for sports matches on the big screens or special occasions. Equally good when it's quieter for a great bit of food and a drink or two. There are even board games available if you find conversation difficult! Bargain Hunt: The Board Game is a must!
A. S.
Nice quiet pub in Clapham/Brixton. With a fine selection of craft beer and cheap pizza
P. S.
Nice pub with a good selection of beers, wine and cider. Craft beers on tap and bottle gives plenty of choice if you are experimental like me. Screens showing major sporting events is good, but means it can get quite busy at certain times. It's well placed, with a choice of stations a short walk away.
s. a.
Lovely little pub which thankfully hasn't been tainted by the crowds you get at the falcon and other average clapham pubs. Staff are friendly, pizzas are great, atmosphere is relaxed. Great pub following the revamp and new management.
R. R.
Really nice pub, quite small with a cool bar. The food was tasty and good value, a nice selection of pizzas. Music was very loud when I first arrived but went for the Sunday night pub quiz which was a lot of fun.
M. B.
Visited the Coach & Horses last night and had a great time. It's come under new management recently - don't know how much of a difference that makes as it was my first time staying for more than a drink. The atmosphere was cosy and the fire warm on a cold night, the food was great and the company was very pleasant. Not sure what more you could ask for from a pub. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
G. K.
They really adorable I love them, memories back on time, they should charge way more of the quality on it
T.
Great craft beer on tap, excellent quality pizza (both affordable and quick too), friendly staff and good deals and promotions. Would be good to see their projector used for something other than footie!
B. D.
Pleasant staff with large variety of beers. Good spot for the football or playing a board game. Area outside the front and never too difficult to get a seat which shocks me.
D. W.
Great local pub, cosy atmosphere. Friendly staff, good pizza at good prices, decent selection of beers, shows rugby and football.
D. P.
Selection of over hopped craft beers in traditional pub surroundings. Only one, weak, traditional ale though. Pleasant enough place but why people buy more expensive, but poor, craft beers instead of tastier, and cheaper, real British ales escapes me.
A. A.
Good for watching sports. However a group of young businessmen behaviour alike geezers was awful. So loud that impossible to have any kind of conversation. The barman served Merlot which actually tasted as sweet Shiraz.
C. M.
Nice setting, friendly service. Pizza crispy and well put together. Played a game of connect 4 whilst waiting, had a few other board games too. Couldn't fault it really, shall return!
S. L.
Nice pub serving a good variety of drinks. Bar tender was very nice and polite. Quick service and some nice big screens showing the football
K. D.
V good overall feel in this pub, good colours on walls, seating layout etc. Nice mixed clientle . Barmaid professional but appeared a v little nervous. Mens toilet up a steep stairs. Overall a returnable pub.
J. S.
Very friendly staff and a great selection of beers. Big screens for watching the football and a good playlist if you're just going for a quiet one. Also very good tonic...
N. S.
Lovely pub, good service
L. D.
Really friendly place with a nice bar. They have a wide selection of beers and two big TV screens - this is a fantastic place to watch sport events. The prices are affordable for everyone and the service is pretty good.
J. P.
Great beer selection and awesome pizzas. Not too pricey. Staff also v warm and friendly, highly recommended!
C. L.
Previously traditional boozer reopened as craft beer bar. Pints are reasonably priced. Shows the sport. Pizzas looked decent but weren't tried.
V. E.
Great place with a lovely outside bit. Definitely check this Pub out if you're a craft beer fan. Also serves amazing pizza.
E. W. H.
New Year's Eve. Great atmosphere. Nice clean place. Bar staff friendly and very efficent. Only 2 on ...a male and a female and coped really well when it got very busy.

Great local with broad and dynamic selection of beers and Gins. Many pizza options (13+?) Which are pretty solid but not epic.
J. T.
Good little pub with a decent selection of craft beers from local breweries. Was playing the rugby when I arrived so if sports is a regular thing I imagine this is a very cosy place to watch!
M. K.

B. D.
Great pub with a lovely selection of beers, good pizza too! Excellent pub quiz on a Sunday night too.
B. F.

L. C.
Love their pizzas, beer and atmosphere! Pub quiz is fun but hard and last question was nearly impossible to know
G. R.
Good selection of beers including some interesting local ones although a couple were off when we last visited. Worth popping in if you are passing for a pint and perhaps to watch the football.

I used to live round the corner on Kings Avenue back in the day (2011-2013?), and work on Clapham Common. Many memories down here, trundling between Brixton and the various north/south divide of Clapham. Despite the rampant gentrification, it's nice to know that some pubs still remain.
This one has seen various incarnations, but as we went our separate ways @frontierpubs stepped in to give it a new lease of life. Local beers adorn the taps in the form of Brixton (Heineken), Gipsy Hill and your usual accessible macro gear. I was here for one thing only, @luckysaintbeer again, despite the temptation to just drink the Deya they had kegged.
That and I was in the area for the Idles gig at Brixton Academy. So it made sense to hit a pub before, especially as this was on a Sunday, but the thought of this entire day without beer was an unrealistic nightmare some 4+ years ago. The pub was busy, in January, on a Sunday - need to let that sink in for a minute.
Is it the location? Possibly? But it's not exactly on a "main" road. Rather, if you offer a varied range, show sport (but don't let it dominate your identity) and banging food like the pizzas from @flatboyspizza then you're gonna draw a nice mixed crowd. Frontier Pubs have this nailed.
Objectively, what's nice about these, is that despite all the ownership and some 100 years passing, the exterior "recently" renovated by Frontier, honours the original look and feel of the pub. Those tiles are glorious, the round bar in the middle, it's a testament to how well it can be done.
Overall, a lovely trip down memory lane. Worth the needless £65 parking charge (Lambeth Council never changes), which ironically I wouldn't have got if I drank and got public transport, but the trains were down, so probably evened out.
Anyway, I digress, good pub, good beer, good vibes, nice staff - go visit it.
D. B.
What a fantastic pub! The atmosphere for the 6 nations was amazing, the pizzas are absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and the selection of draft beers is superb.
The decor is spot on, maintaining a welcoming traditional pub style but with a modern twist, clean and chic. The staff match this theme as well, super friendly and chatty.
K.
Great pub to watch the footy at on their projector, the pizzas are top draw and the staff are lovely!
