Reviews of The Dove, Hammersmith
M. S.
A beautiful pub brimming with history. When I walked in the door the fire was burning and the smell of braised beef cottage pie was in the air. I had planned to go for dinner else where but stopped by for a drink and to see the Britannia sheet music.
The atmosphere was wonderful and the menu looked great. I had the lamb which was delicious.

Dropped in last night for a drink and some food. It was busy! Definitely need to book. I've been here quite a few times over the past couple of decades. Really lovely outdoor seating area with great views of the river. Cosy and traditional is how I'd describe the interior of this historic pub. Well worth a visit.
H. B.
A great location situated right on the river with an upstairs terrace decorated nicely. The food looked like it had come from a Michelin star chef and tasted like it too! Our evening was made by the friendly staff who went out their way to accommodate us and invite us back. Shall definitely be returning!

Location? 💯
Atmosphere? 💯
Food quality? Beyond 💯 A bit pricey but they are amazing.
Beer selection? Very limited, like only 5 taps? They could add more.
Outdoor facility? They don't really provide heating outdoors. They have two heaters outside but somehow they usually keep one or both off on a freezing day. It's a big minus during cold seasons. Ironically, I had my skin burnt on a sunny day coz they don't have shades.
It's a lovely historic pub overall but there are defo things to improve.
P. R.
Lovely pub right on the river Thames with fabulous views. Lovely beer and what looked like (I didn't have any food on this visit) very good food; also very historic.
I do have one complaint, which is, if you are over 30 and not American and sit in the front bar, you will be totally ignored (I was quite happy to sit there for several quiet pints) so I left and took my money elsewhere.
Kind Regards!
S. C.
Delicious Sunday Roast by the river in Hammersmith. Very friendly staff in this cute pub with delicious food. Just watch your head when going down the stairs on the way out!!
T. S.
My favourite pub in the area, steeped in history, as well as the distinction of having the UK’s smallest bar room. Nothing beats having a pint of Guinness by their fire in the winter. Except perhaps sitting out on the terrace overlooking the Thames on a beautiful summer day. I’ve never eaten here but have heard great things.
Friendly bartenders, beautiful interior and great beers.
L. Z.
I love their Sunday roast the most. The pub with a history of 500 years (ish) also has a great view over the Thames. Aso nice to sit there and have a few pints. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
C. P.
Great tasting food with a nice view of the river if you sit outside in the back. Quite cozy inside as well.
S. V.
Very characteristic pub. Nicely decorated and with a beautiful view.
The food is good on the overall, unfortunately the salad of artichokes is a dish that I need to advise to avoid.
It is sold as a main for £15 but it has only the plate of a main. Nevertheless, the service was fast with kind and competent people.
I'll come back
A. L.
Lovely location on the river and lovely food. We had a burger and gnocchi. Was quality rather than quantity but certainly more than enough and good value for London. Nice pint too (Red Fox).
C. D.
We had been there once last spring for a Sunday roast and we were pleasantly surprised. Decided to go for a last minute Saturday night pub meal yesterday as we wanted to stay local. We were so lucky to have a table next to the fireplace. Unfortunately they run out of steak, which was the meal we went there for, but we went for a Burger and a Lamb shank, both were absolutely amazing. The pub itself has warm, cozy vibes, and the service was exactly how it should be. Thank you Aiden 👍🏻
We'll definitely be back again.
Ps: well done on giving the option of adding tips separately from the bill!
E.
A great lunch on the roof terrace over looking the river. One of the best burgers I've ever had, made with beef brisket. Really friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended.
M. B.
Highly recommended pub on the Thames. Best at lunch (or on the nights of a full moon!) to enjoy the terrace and the views of the river. Inside is cozy and small with an open fire; moving towards riverside, tables are in winter garden/ conservatory. Good is an eclectic gastro-pub mix. I recently had the tender broccoli tempura with truffle aioli & the lamb-harissa pasty. Pasty came not too warm, but they heated it up no problem. Service was mixed with some new servers being trained. Manager took feedback humbly and graciously.
T. D.
Brilliant pub. Excellent service, river views and gourmet food!
D. S.
Enter The Dove from a narrow alleyway and a cosy, beamed-ceiling, dark wood-panelled delight awaits you. The pub holds the Guinness World Record for the smallest bar room - proudly displayed on a sign on the right as you enter. This room (or snug) is, however, just one serving space within a larger, split level building. The outside areas are also on two levels and offer amazing views of the Thames.
Fullers ales dominate (the brewery is close-by) and the food menu is excellent. One of many lovely pubs along the river but my personal favourite.
I.
Beautiful quaint little pub, the vine leaves on the glass roof out back look great and it's even nicer with all the Christmas lights and other festive plant life they have up. Nice pub great terrace for summer and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
C. R.
My first visit. Really enjoyed it. Obviously very popular
m. t.
Character in abundance. A lovely little pub with many historical claims to fame in an excellent setting. Add to that, the bar staff are lovely, efficient and knowledgeable about their products, the food is very good and the prices are not too bad for this location. Go there if you're in the area.
J.
Go down once a week, always forget to leave a review, I love this pub, the staff are always really on point , the drinks are nice , food is good, so much better in spring / summer when you can be outside.
A. T.
very nice place. Great attention. Ordered two starters and a shared plate for two. The shared plate we had wasn't that great - a bit shy on the quantity (chorizo slices and other meatty stuff + bread + olives). Definitely should have order a main each to avoid leaving hungry, but definitely recommend this place.
E. S.
Has to be the best pub around here with a lovely inside and a proper pub feel. Excellent staff and service and a good range or beer and food.
J. W.
Quaint historical pub on the Thames. Welcoming staff on a busy Saturday afternoon. We stopped for drinks and snacks only. Well worth a visit on a river stroll.
I. H.
Gorgeous pub but no oat milk. Bad show considering veganism is rocketing due to people waking up to the horrors of the dairy industry and the reality of climate change.
N. L.
Wow! Some of the best pub food I’ve had. Our party ordered a variety of drinks and mains - all was excellent. Definitely come on a Sunday to catch the Sunday roast. The lamb, pesto gnocchi, crab toast and of course, the fish and chips were all very tasty. Highly recommended !
S. L.
I like this pub. Tucked away, in winter have a pint by the fire, or a drink on the balcony over the river.
Food is for fine.
C. P.
My starter of crab meat on toast with salad was delicious! And the chicken schnitzel maincourse was great also.
A lovely pub, you can sit outside right beside the river.
Good service and friendly staff. Would recommend this pub.
A. M.
My favourite pub in London! The decoration is old-fashioned (in a good way, of course!), they have a tree growing inside the pub, which is awesome, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious (try their chocolate brownie as desert!), the location on the riverside is also very nice.
If you want to have food there, it’s a good idea to call them to book a table, because the pub is quite small.
j. s.
My husband wanted to come to THE DOVE because it’s an old historic pub. I didn’t expect much more than a normal pub. I was wrong. This was no ordinary pub! Good for them- location is lovely, right on the water, service- the staff was exceptional, but what makes a pub extraordinary is the food. It had a flare, it was fresh, and it was delicious! I can’t say enough about the pea ravioli! Only two big ones but fantastic!! You don’t want to miss!! Then we tried a chocolate caramel moose -stop me!! It was to die for! I haven’t had that delicious of a dessert in a long time!
Over all , I can’t think of a thing that didn’t exceed my expectations!! Well worth the effort of getting here!!
P. L.
Gorgeous little pub inside. Cant wait to enjoy get outside in summer. Food was good and service was quick and friendly.
H. L.
Visited on a Sunday with a large group and a dog. Really tasty roasts all round - I really enjoyed the veggie roast dinner. Need to book a couple weeks ahead!
S. Y.
Happy National Yorkshire Pudding Day!!!
And a great place to go for Sunday Roast. The pub is small so make sure you book.
Lots of character, history and the roast beef is amazing, Yorkshire Pudding was pretty good too.
L. B.
One of the best pubs on the riverside near Hammersmith to have drinks or dinner with your friends or colleagues. The food is great, can highly recommend their Fish & Chips (see picture below). The place is usually crowded in the evenings after work hours, therefore table reservation is a must if you would like to have your dinner there too.
S. M.
Little gem on the Thames path between Hammersmith and Chiswick. Famous for having the smallest bar of any pub in England and the place where Rule Britannia was written. Food very nice as well and there's a small terrace overlooking the river if you are fortunate enough to grab a spot!
T. C.
Went for Sunday roast - distinctly average. Overpriced. A re-heated typical pub
roast. You can have lunch at Raymond Blanc’s down the river for the same price! Tasteless reheated veg. Chewy pork. My partners comment - ‘why do you brits insist on turning veg into steamed toilet paper’ The front door was permanently open so it was draughty. Why is this necessary when the pub is fully booked? It’s not as if a closed door would be an obstacle to custom given how popular this place is. The view from the beer garden and interior are undoubtedly charming so it is worth a visit for a drink and the river view, but I would go elsewhere to eat.
S. C.
Nice pub, Nice Staff, Nice atmosphere, nothing else to say, one of the best spot to have a drink in the area !
M. M.
Visited the lovely pub, read many positive reviews about it and decided to give it a shot. Was warmly welcomed by the staff who were very insightful about the beers and ales. Once I got my pint went outside to their terrace which is facing the river Thames and I was stunned. You can see the hammersmith bridge, barges docked on the river. Do visiti you won't regret it. And as a bonus its dog friendly too.
T. T.
Very cozy pub with great staff and food choices (much more than just regular pub food). The location is marvelous right at the Thames with a backyard. Seating for meals is also available. Can get packed quickly. Highly recommended.
P. T.
A very helpful and friendly staff. It is a very cozy place with a beautiful viue. Amazing...
• It dates from the early 18th century.
• A number of historical figures have been associated with the pub beside the River Thames. Among these are Graham Greene, Ernest Hemingway, Dylan Thomas and William Morris who lived next door. James Thompson is said to have written the words for the 1740 song Rule, Britannia! there. Pub where Charles II and Nell Gwynne once dined.
•The pub appears in the 1930 A. P. Herbert novel The Water Gipsies, loosely disguised as the fictitious The Pigeons.
•The front bar of the pub is listed in the Guinness book of Records as the smallest public bar in the United Kingdom."
L. W.
A great boozer on the river. One of the oldest in London, seeped in history and now a days serving up great grub, service and ales. A fine establishment indeed and a favourite of my dad's who's bday we were celebrating.
C. D.
Beautiful pub with a magnificent interior, nice old photos of the area on the wall, good pint served and has the smallest pub bar in Britain
B. H.
Fabulous traditional English Boozer. Excellent food. Take a look on the Brewery website as we found a 20% discount. Who knows this may be a regular offer. The pub is also in the Guinness book of records for having the smallest bar area. Unsure if this is a world or national record not that that mattered. Great beer on tap. Well looked after.
S. K.
Amazing amazing place .. it's one of the world's smallest public bar room . They got a Guinness world record for that . Serve amazing beers . The vibe of the place is so amazing that u fall in love with it . It's 10 minute walk from Hammersmith tube station . You have to get down from Hammersmith bridge and walk along thames and you will find this place in a small lane.
Totally worth it .
S. R.
Nice pub on the thames with a nice little beer garden out back. The beer selection was just ok but we did end up staying for a few. The mezze platter we ordered was great. Loads of bread which you hardly ever get enough of! I'd definitely come back when next in London.
P. H.
First thing to know is that they are very dog friendly throughout the bar and eating areas, thank you The Dove, our two Chihuahua’s felt very much at home.
Sunday lunch was excellent and the beef tender and pink, the fresh horseradish was superb too.
Great service and very friendly staff.
Highly recommend this riverside pub.
M. B.
I read about this place in a food blog before I rode out to tackle a section of the Thames Towpath, I was warned to book well in advance, but got lucky they had a table free for me... So I jumped in and I ordered the whitebait and grilled prawns and I have to say this was spectacular food, beyond the remit of what is on first appearances a local pub full of history and character... I was expecting a good place to have a pint, I found a Great place to enjoy an evening. Thanks 'The Dove' team for a lovely evening!
o. t. i. e.
My favourite pub in London, have been a frequent visitor since my school days nearby. Fantastic Riverside setting, can't beat sitting on the terrace out the back in the sunshine. Good pint at a decent price. Food is lovely and the portions are generous (the chips especially are awesome). Staff always super friendly. 10/10 recommend.
M. B.
The great atmosphere vastly made up for the not so good food. Amongst other things, the whitebait, that were on the whole too soft and large for comfort and just on the wrong side of fresh.
D. B.
Such a fantastic space. Hidden away. Great staff, spaces, booze and food. The perfect hideaway from the world to stop and think or to spend quality time with friends.
A. M.
Lovely little pub with great food and nice staff. Good vegetarian options and choice of beer.
M. L.
Excellent traditional public house on the banks of the Thames. Great venue to take visiting guests and give them a warm, cosy, and historic experience with fabulous views of the Thames. Staff friendly and diligent!
If you are working in and around Hammersmith, a pub crawl along the Thames tow path is a must!
It’s a media area so The Dove is excellent pre drink boozer, the food is great (hearty pub food) but also heading East to the River Cafe for a high end restaurant experience!
The Dove has a sheltered table on the terrace and great views of Hammersmith bridge.
Strong WiFi so you can work remotely very easily. Occasionally, you’ll see some good looking “Boat Race” here...

We had been strolling Regents Canal for most of the day and decided to catch the last hour or so of a glorious day beside the Thames. Once the sun disappeared we realised our hunger and found The Dove. It was busy with many patrons obviously doing the same as us. As luck would have it we got two seats next to an open gas fire which was perfect whilst we drank our bottle of Pinot. The staff were not particularly helpful nor very happy......not that many could speak fluent English. We both had roast shoulder of lamb but mine was rather fatty and at £18 each I thought it was overpriced. We shared a dessert of Apple cinnamon crumble which we thought included ice cream.....it didn't....they wanted us to pay an extra £2 on top of £7 !! We refused to pay. They relented. An olde worlde venue which is very cute and loads of character......but no atmosphere and very impersonal....it's supposed to be a pub but it's predominantly a restaurant with not a lot of space for just socialising and drinking.....money money!!
D. T.
Tremendous place next to the river, reputed to be the smallest bar in England. Very busy on a Sunny bank holiday. Good place to visit.
A. G.
A lovely old English pub. I bring all my friends from around the world who come to visit to experience what a traditional pub lunch/roast is. You can’t go wrong, book a table ASAP though as it’s popular.
A. B.
This very picturesque pub is an unmissable short stop in a Riverside walk. Maintaining its historical river identify, it has a modern beer offer and good food. Service is fast and nice.
R. S.
The Dove pub overlooking the river Thames. Once king Charles II used to have a drink with his mistresses.
Nice relaxing atmosphere to have a beer.
G. A.
Historical pub in Hammersmith. Cozy and located in a pictoresque little road. Nice at lunch and dinner, serving British food.
E. D.
Well, it’s one of those places I wouldn’t live in London without. It’s a little one, cozy wooden set-up and the food is more than great, moderate portions and of course good beers. But the best part is the view from their patio. There are a couple of tables at the very top of the balcony, you really cannot ask for more.
B.
This place was recommended to me during the brewery tour at Fuller's Brewery down the street. Great location right on the Thames river. Good pub with proper beer selection and food.
S. M.
I wanted to give 5 stars. However the food I ordered was one of the worst food I ever had. It was chicken schnitzel. I am not sure whetehr any butter used with chicken as it was smelling and tasting terribly bad. I really felt bad as this food was the highest charged on the menu. Though the service was exceptionally good , the food puts me off and I was not able to eat at all
A. B.
Friendly old pub and great place to watch the river flow, enjoy great food, excellent beer, wine - whatever.
S. P.
Amazing, beautiful, top notch pub food. Fantastic staff. The chips are the best chips I have ever had.
T. M.
I have become a regular here now and this pub goes above and beyond in many ways. The staff are all friendly and attentive making you feel very welcomed. The ambiance is really cozy which makes it perfect for a place to both hang out with friends or to sit down for a relaxing pint after a long day with a good book.
M. F.
Super traditional pub in a fantastic riverside location but on my last visit was served the most lifeless, rank pint of Pride I have ever consumed (just) A great shame considering it's proximity to the brewery. I might just have been unlucky on this visit ☹
G. K.
This is a one of the best pubs in an area full of lovely pubs. I only popped in for a quick drink at a quiet time of day so can only base my review on that. Staff were very friendly and the beer was good. The pub itself is all small areas including a lower and upper deck right on the river. If you are in the area you really should have a look.
A. G.
Love the history of this place, but somehow it lacks the atmosphere of a community pub, a bit too oriented at feeding tourists.
J. H.
Only stopped in for a pint of Guinness, but I was really impressed with the service. The beer was great too!
S.
This has got to be the smallest bar ever! A great little place! There was more space in another bar area and some outside seating too. The food looked lovely although we didn't try it ourselves. We were served quickly considering how busy the place was, the only improvement that I could see was to hope the busy bar staff were a bit friendlier, but it wouldn't stop us from returning.
D. M.
Lovely meal and view. The fish & chips dish had a bit too much oil.
J. S.
Lovely semi-secret Fuller's pub with a nice view of the river. Lovely staff.
Space wise, just a bit cramped, when raining, making it impossible to not hear a guy at the next table being pretentious and condescending to his date.
Otherwise can recommend, but bring company in earphones just in case.😉
S. S. (.
Really love this quaint hide away, plotted perfectly on the river sandwiched between a terrace of houses you get a real feel of old London in there. Food is great, service fast, bar staff work hard to keep the drinks flowing from their tiny bar & the guest boot is a hoot if you ever get bored of staring out at the Thames!
D. S.
This has been one of my favourite spots since I first discovered it eight years ago. Its historic charm, delicious food, lovely staff and beautiful views of the river, make it the perfect place for a sunny Sunday!!
P. W.
The classic riverside pub. Fullers beer, low beams, river terrace, great food.
On the small side, but just makes it more cosy
Staff are welcoming and helpful
T. B.
Great food, and fair price. The view is forgeous! It's a lovely pub to visit with your partner or friends. It's dog friendly.
J.
Great little Fuller's pub on the Thames. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. They've kept it looking like a traditional pub which is awesome, it's really worth stopping by.
Now I emphasize the small, it's definitely not a big pub and gets full rather quickly, in the space of an hour we witnessed a couple of people being turned away due to lack of space outside. It didn't win a Guinness world record for smallest pub room for nothing.
M. S.
Excellent traditional riverside pub. Fullers beer, great food, lovely views!
E. M.
Lovely staff, if you can get a table outside in the sunshine that's amazing but the inside is fantastic too. Super tasty Sunday roast and an awesome menu across the board. I've been here a few times and I'll be back again soon for sure.
J. A.
Very cosy pub with one of the best sunday roasts I've had in london
J. H.
Great (compact) English pub overlooking the river Thames. Friendly staff serves top-notch pub food, and a choice of ciders and beers. Recommended.
S. B.
Awesome pub, 'secretly' hidden away on the banks of the Thames. Has always been my pre-gig pub before a visit to The Hammy 'O'. Very atmospheric, with great character & extremely busy because of it's small size. Food lovely, but as the beer here is Fuller's, that's my major reason to visit 🍺
d. g.
Really nice place
Food was great really tasty
Staff very friendly too
Would defo go back
D.
One of my favorite pubs in London. Old with alot of history. Great terrace overlooking the river. Dog friendly
d. s.
A lovely little pub, with a wonderful terrace and view and a cosy fireplace to warm you up in the winter evenings. I stop by whenever I am in the area
C. V.
Given 5 star but wanted to award 4.5. Not far off the best roast around by pub standards. But probably top 25 in London.
L. N.
Had great relaxed meal here with friends, which bucked the trend, as opposed to the at times rushed dining experience. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more attentive. Made to feel that nothing was too much trouble!. Would definitely go back. Highly recommended. 😁
S. L.
Great Sunday roast in a lovely location! I had the lamb and my friend had the vegetarian Wellington.
K. F.
Perfect spot at Hammersmith for drinks and supper before the theatre; beautiful evening by the river
K. N.
Cute pub right on the Thames river. Old, has character and a view!
m. b. g. m.
Stunning old pub you can eat and drink while looking at the river would think it gets busy at weekends but we'll worth a visit
J. C.
Great selection of beers and good service. Didn't eat, but the food looked great. Lovely old pub with a really nice atmosphere
H. R.
Love this place. Great pints with a view over the Thames.
d. c.
Lovely old world pub - great stop for a pint overlooking river...
F. G.
Good gastro pub food, cosy, fun.
Great for family gatherings.
M. m.
Outstanding pub with a view and good food.
Service efficient but slightly impatient.
S. M.
Hands down the best chicken schnitzel I’ve ever had. That aside, the interiors are perfectly lit for a romantic evening and there’s a lovely tree growing up to the ceiling on the inside, adding to the ambiance. Right on the water so the views would be amazing in the day and excellent service to boot. Can’t wait to be back!
I. M. C. U.
The place is very special and cozy! The food was great and the staff was friendly! My partner and I had a really lovely time here! (the other person in the mirror is not my partner 😂)
N. P.
Lovely old pub right on the river just up from Hammersmith Bridge. Balcony, terrace, Fuller's beers and nice looking menu
B. G.
Lovely atmos, delicious food, friendly staff. Avoid the table by the back door in the colder months!
E. C.
Cozy place. Friendly staff, good food, great view to the river.
If you are looking for a place to chill out after a busy week, this is a great option for that.
C. S.
I'd like to recommend the Dove in Hammersmith as a really nice and cousy pub. Had a great time and the staff were lovely people. Also there is a nice atmosphere and the scenery is breathtaking as it is close to the Thames. You can go for a walk and take your friends out to enjoy a pint and the view.
S. H.
Wonderful setting, calm and attentive service, very good pub food and last but not least solid ales, albeit a little thin on the dark ones.
N. L.
One of my favourite pubs in west London. Excellent food (especially Sunday roast), very friendly staff, historic and cozy bar room, and beautiful views from the terrace all year round.
Book a table for food in advance, it's well worth it.
D. R.
Great view of the river. Nice food
J.
Revisited this delightful pub again and was as pleased as the last time. Reasonably priced good wine, excellent service from such friendly staff and wonderful good.
m. L.
Authentic english pub. Their fish'n chips was excellent!
N. J. M.
Best bar in London. Stacks of character and great food.
M. A.
Lovely lovely pub, good kitchen, nice ambience, view on the Thames
K. K.
Stunning historical pub over looking the Thames, excellent service and bloody great beers. Go for a Thames walk and visit the Dove. I'll be back.
E. P.
I'm not a huge fan of Fuller's beer but this pub is a hidden gem (and you can find some good bottles of ipa in the fridge!) ! The best F&C I've ever had! Spacious lovely terrace with an awesome view on the river. Reasonably priced and the service is good - what's not to like?!
M. P.
A lovely pub just for some drinks, but this Valentine's day my girlfriend and I had the valentines day special brisket to share and it was absolutely amazing. Food was great, service was great, lovely pub. Couldn't recommend enough.
J. H.
I don't get over this side of town very often, and haven't been for a while, but I have very fond memories of this pub, perhaps mainly because of the fact it holds the world record for the smallest bar room of any pub. The rest of the pub is of reasonable proportions but as you come in through the main entrance, on the right hand side is a tiny room, big enough for perhaps four people at most, with the bar counter running along one side - so you needn't leave your little snug to actually get served.
D. H.
One of a wonderful run of pubs from Hammersmith Bridge, best pub crawl in London. Book a table on the terrace to watch the river life.
R. L.
This is a really nice Riverside pub. I did a pub crawl of Riverside pubs in this area and I definitely think this was the best one. The outside area was a little small but its not on the public path so it is more private then the other pubs around. The staff are really nice and the pub is very beautiful.
N. B.
Loved this pub by the river, very small outside area, worth it if you can get in on a sunny day before the after work rush!
K. M.
The finest chips in Christendom!!! Fantastic hostelry. Staff superb; Old Father Thames reassuring....I’m sure Charles II and Nell Gwynn shared our table.
A must visit.
C. B.
Lovely Sunday roast and nice view on the patio,
During summer I would add a few umbrellas as it can get pretty hot outside
O. S.
Beautiful River-front bar. We didn't eat but the food that was coming out looked great.
M. D.
The Sunday roast is the tastiest ever. I'd have it everyday if I could. So yumm
D. W.
Lovely beer and friendly Irish bar tender.
R. L.
We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks in the bar. Really nice pub, great atmosphere and the ales were kept very well. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to revisiting.
B. C.
Lovely traditional pub with an amazing location on the River Thames
J. J.
Had a nice table overlooking the river in the shade. Our group all had fish and chips which were tasty, mine grilled as am gluten free. Friendly staff.
A. C.
Cosy old pub in great location overlooking the river Thames. Pride on tap which is a go-to for me. Food is decent. Open fire and snug make it nice and cozy. Balcony at the back is pretty special in the summer.

Beautiful spot on the river in all seasons. Delicious food and staff are efficient and friendly, even when things are really busy.
J. D.
One of our favourite pubs to visit when we're in London. An idillic setting along the river. Unfortunately it was too hot to sit outside and enjoy the view this last time, but sitting inside was fun too. Extremely friendly service. Didn't really enjoy the roast beef sandwich I ordered but my wife and kids were happy with their food. Looking forward to our next visit already.
M. F.
Love this place. Located by the river in Hammersmith, it is the perfect little drinking hole on a cold winters night. Grab a beer or wine from the front bar - the smallest in London possibly - and sit by the open fire and defrost!
Alternatively - pop into the back and sit by yet another fire and grab a delicious pub meal - and make sure you leave room for dessert!
d. l.
Wonderful, atmospheric, historic london pub on the banks of the Thames, serving real ale and food by friendly and amenable staff. Make sure you book if you want a table. There is an outside terrace but it's very prone to the vagaries of our weather and winds off the Thames.

Great food & Views of River Thames
E. B.
Classic English pub with great atmosphere and delicious food :)
They have outside seating facing the Thames (excellent in the summer), and atmospheric interior. There is also a tiny barroom which is rather unique. The food is modern British dishes with a twist, with seasonal local ingredients. There is always a veggie dish on menu, though I would welcome a bit more variety. Drinks are the usual Fuller's line, probably with a bit better wine selection.
A. R.
Very good service, gently staff and the portions are too big.
B. D.
Smallest pub in London. Although, has since expanded to additional eating areas and outdoor areas. Cozy, charming. Mussels and pea soup were both great. Service was fine.
L. V.
Very cosy pub by the river with a relaxed atmosphere. The food is very good and the variety of options will surprise some of the people visiting for the first time. In the summer, try and get a table on the glazed roof part of the restaurant or maybe a table outside. The staff is very helpful and always come to you with a smile!
M.
I love this place!
Directly on the river with reasonably priced drinks. What more could you want in the summer?
The food quality is good too, meat was cooked perfectly.
There is also an indoor area which gets a good amount of light. Nearly conservatory like. Nice to sit in when it rains.
B. D.
I have been to The Dove many times before. It's in a very nice location on the river. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere. And it's in the Guinness Book of Records for having the smallest bar in the country. But beware if you decide to drink here be sure to have a healthy bank balance. Because their prices are ASTRONOMICAL!!!!!.
R. L.
One of the smallest pubs on the waterfront but also one of my favourite because I've had cosy it is, how great the staff are, and the lovely little patio which if you are lucky enough to get a seat at has one of the best and I would say most exclusive views of the River Thames. Definitely my favourite local.
Come early, stay late, have a great time and if you get there quick enough you'll probably have the best seat in the house for the infamous boat race.
M. P.
The best roast in SW London. Consistently friendly service, good food and cosy pub vibes. Would recommend!
A. O.
Went for Sunday lunch and I have to say the food was BANGING. No other words than that. I had a Vegetarian Roast, and I have to say it was the best Roast I had ever had besides my Mother's. Get involved, you won't regret it. All of the food we ordered meat included was great, tasty as and the only resentment I had was that I couldn't order the Kid's portion as there were no kids at the table, had I had been offered a half portion I would have been delighted as I didn't want to finish the whole thing plus dessert.
S. I.
I love this pub, also I have never tested the food, it always smells delicious. Very friendly staff, cosy atmosphere if you are sitting in, and lovely terrasse by the river on sunny days.
L. F.
Historic pub with great ambiance. We ate outside on the patio overlooking the Thames. Delicious Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding for him and fish n chips for me. Wonderful craft beer and cider!
P. H.
Lovely, historic Fuller’s pub beside the Thames close to Hammersmith Bridge. It was quiet when we stopped by for an afternoon pint or two and we were easily able to find a table outside overlooking the river and enjoy the autumnal afternoon sunshine (as well as a few pints of London Pride!). It’s an old pub with lots of changes in level and so, although the pub is accessible from the front door, you won’t get any further if your mobility is seriously restricted and the toilets would be very difficult for the same reason. We didn’t eat here but the food (as it passed us!) seemed standard Fuller’s fare - decent portions and tempting.
D. P.
A nice little pub on the river, menu is a little short but still very good. Outside seating area is lovely but a little too small for those warm summer evenings, it fills up quickly! Although the beer is a decent price for the area
B. L.
I loved the warm atmosphere of this pub: it was perfect to drink a beer and chat with friends. Good selection of beers: it was a shame to not drink something in front of the river due the weather. I will back for sure in spring or summer to enjoy the view!
V. B.
A lovely old building with bags of character. The river location is delightful. Staff (at least the one I had contact with) was not overly welcoming but not hostile - just there.
However, £4.90 for a bottle of Peroni is VERY rich. I can buy 6 bottles for that kind of price in Sainsbury's. No wonder pubs are closing.
l. l.
Good time revisiting at lunchtime after about 20 years ! Weather and a lucky table outside sealed the deal. Burger was very nice and other meals looked good too. Yes not cheap but comparable to other similar pubs and the setting is perfect .
I understand why you can smoke on the terrace but it would have spoilt my lunch had i not finished . There is plenty of green space outside to smoke .
J. B.
Great food. Staff friendly and helpful
C. P.
Outstanding choice, presentation, taste and service. Great atmosphere for a small local pub. A must book as always busy. Excellent prices for what you get. Perfect in the summer for evening dining overlooking the picturesque river.
A. W.
Nice pub. Good amount of seating. Despite being a busy week day there was enough seating throughout. Nice selection of beers on tap. Food looked good. It's on the river so there are some really nice views. Parking was quite easy in the evening.
B. M.
Very quaint and beautiful pub with friendly service. Great food and decent drinks at not unreasonable prices.
E. O.
Traditional pub with a modern twist. Nice balcony out back. A bit cramped, but they can't change that. Good food. Definitely not wheelchair accessible and no baby change facilities.
A. G.
Always worth popping in to check out this historic pub on the river between Hammersmith and Barnes Bridges. Rule Britannia was penned upstairs and downstairs you can still get a good pint and some decent food if it’s not too busy. The terrace is great out back, if you can grab a table, particularly in the summer months!
A. R.
Small and cozy pub with a great terrace looking the Thames. It is pub with a great atmosphere, with lots of wood and quite spots inside. If you want to have fun, the outdoor terrace is amazing and you'll enjoy a great view of the river. The beer selection is ok.
P. M.
Great bar and superb staff with a great attitude
R. T.
A super small place with a long history right at the Thames and if you don't watch it you might have missed the entrance.
Great food at reasonable prices. It's pub food at a high standard.
We also tried their wine, which was amazing.
C. G.
The pub itself is a good size with a large outdoors area next to the river, with nice views up and down the river. There's a decent selection on tap and the staff are friendly. The pub gets very busy around meal times so booking ahead will be necessary on some days.
L. R.
Great food let down by poor serviced and a ridiculously hot conservatory. It would be a really good idea to put a fan or something that might mitigate the heat on hot days. Also the service was quite forgetful, for example a friend had the wrong drink brought to the table 3 times. Overall, could be better.
K. A. (.
What a great little pub to bee. It's a Fullers with excellent staff who cares about guests, atmosphere, the location, food and drinks. They will even entertain you well and tell you, if you ask, which places you should visit next, if you wan't to explore the neighbourhood, ore go for a dance at late night. I love the food, nice at the perfectly decorated seating area, or the inside terrace. Bit even better the riverside dining. Booking is advisable, but they do not take bookings outside so it might be sometimes tough to get a seat at the riverside garden or the roof terrace. Once If have to be up early and go wets, not to get seated outside for lunch, but to visit the boat race.
A. B.
Very homey, quaint pub in Hammersmith (Zone 2) and next to the River Thames. They have a cozy front bar area with a running fireplace and dining towards the rear of the pub. This place is part of the Fullers Brewery empire (now owned by Asahi). Pints go for close to 6 pounds. Definitely give them a visit if you're in the area.
C. B.
Fantastic old pub. Great atmosphere, the food is great and the terrace on the river front is beautiful in the summer. It's small so can sometimes get quite crowded but it's steeped in history so definitely worth a visit.
B. R.
We went to this much talked about pub in Hammersmith today afternoon- Daniel and Sonia were very warm enthusiastic people who served us- had the crispy prawns and squid with aioli- nicely presented and tasted equally good. There were good vegetarian options and my wife tried the butternut squash with almonds and date and vegetables- again the dish was presented nicely and tasted good. Fish and chips was crispy , fresh and served with peas purée. Had Bloody Mary (finely made) and fullers famed beer and we had chocolate brownie as dessert, which didn’t disappoint either. It was raining outside and the view of the Thames with the good food and drinks just made our day. Keep it up guys- love the vibes and your passion for what you are doing!!!
M. A.
Best pub in Hammersmith. Everything an English pub should be with a selection of bar foods to go with the variety of beers. In the back, cantilevered out over the river is a dining room that serves a wonderful dinner. Love their fish and chips.
m. f.
It's a unique, historic pub. Today with the sunshine it was a great place to be and drink a cold beer. The staff was excellent. Thank you
b. k.
Once home to the famous - Hemingway and Dylan, this pub has the old world charm. Outside patio seating is fabulous in the summer just overlooking the river. Walls have the musical notes of the conpositions. Food was good but I got to give it to the setting. Must visit while in London
M. M.
Cosy traditional pub. Staff very friendly and having been here a few times never experienced anything contrary to that. Food OK but could be better. The batter on our fish was soft and soggy, not crispy as it should be. Mullet starter was very tasty though and with some chips on the side, would have made a great main course by itself. Price average to high
R. F. T.
I have celebrated my birthday here for five consecutive years, and the food and menu have just improved over time. From Management to Front of House to Kitchen staff, all the team always make a great effort, with incredibly welcome results.
The pub is one of the cosiest in London, with beautiful decoration and an intimate feeling to each section, and is situated along one of the loveliest stretches of the Thames, close to some of the most gorgeous townhouses on the river banks.
Get yourselves down to the terrace as early as possible before the pub gets busy, particularly in the warmer months - every weekend it gets fully booked up! If that's not a testament to how great a place it is, I don't know what else can tempt you!
Thank you guys for always taking the best care of us!
B. C.
Gorgeous setting overlooking the Thames. Best fish and chips in Hammersmith. Would recommend the salted caramel brownie for dessert and the gavi white wine. Sloe Gin negroni also yum. Book in advance as very popular.
c. w.
Cold Asahi, great views outdoor area. Decent burger but not impressed that they didn't have the full range of Fuller's beer on tap.
O. R.
I think relatively pricey for pub food (between £12-25 for mains) but also better than the average pub. Has a really cosy interior with some interesting achievements over the year. Outside, there's a lovely first-come first-serve terrace area with a view over the Hammersmith waterfront.
We ordered three dishes. The sea-bass and the harissa chicken were lovely and well-seasoned. The beef burger was on the salty side and the chips were disappointingly soggy. The brownie and ice cream dessert was delicious and creamy.
The staff were also very friendly and approachable.
Overall would definitely recommend! Great atmosphere, good food and a lovely view.
A. S.
Lovely pub on the bank of the Thames. Patio and terrace with stunning views. Great selection of food and drink available in a really nice environment.
J. N.
Great scene of the Thames, & good beers
R. M.
The Dove was recommended to me through friends. It's the perfect place for a good pub lunch. The food was excellent, and the service was very good as well. We wanted to try this place out sooner, but held out for a sunny day so that we could sit outside, The views were beautiful, and holding out for the weather was well worth the wait.
S. U.
Good food and nice location for sitting outside in the summer.
M. M.
Went for Sunday roast, was very good! Recommended
v. r.
A friend took me there. The place was cosy and small. Food was ok. I had sea bream with fennel. There was no a lot of fennel and plate small so I asked for chips too. Chips were very nice and the English Prosecco too. However we were told to leave the table as it was booked after us so we had to leave without dessert and coffee. Dissatisfied so we went to another gastro fuller pub to finish our meal. Not for meeting friends to catch up or you won’t have enough time!
S.
Fantastically Olde Worlde inside, which is brilliant. Lovely small terrace overlooking the Thames and a great food menu. We had sweet potato and manchago hash which was a bit greasy and light on the cheese and salad but perfectly nice.
R. M.
Good food, great ambiance, friendly well trained staff, recommended.
A. E.
Lovely setting and atmosphere food and service were excellent. Fish portion on fish and chips had lovely crispy batter and fish was huge enough for two we could have had one fish and chips and an extra portion of chips. Harisa chicken was lovely but would have preferred small cous cous rather than large.
G. d. S. L.
This very picturesque pub is an unmissable short stop in a Riverside walk. Maintaining its historical river identify, it has a modern beer offer and good food. Service is fast and nice.
A. M.
Excellent staff excellent food highly recommended.
P. A.
Nice pub near this awesome view
D. N.
Even at the end of a tough Friday shift, and faced with a couple of hyperactive drunkards.. the staff yesterday were very accommodating, friendly, pulling-together and working hard. I threatened to leave a review somewhere and here it is. I’m told by OCD girl that the place was spotless throughout, and constantly.
J. H. (. H.
Lovely pub down a very pretty cobbled side-street. Nice choice of beer and tasty food. Nice river view which is particularly nice in the summer.
E. T.
This pub was so fun to visit. It is very cozy inside and has a great view of the Thames. The food was very good, as was the service. It is larger than it appears from the outside. We recommend!
R. S.
Really cool, old pub. Apparently a British song was penned here sometime in the 1700's.
Went here for dinner on 18/2/20 with some locals.
Had the duck confit (£15 / $19.43) For me, it desperately needed more seasoning. As well, I was dying for water the whole time as we got a bottle of tap but it was never refilled despite there were four of us at the table.
Another member of our party wasn't a fan of his peas with his fish and chips. I wish I had switched entrees with him. Felt a bit pricey for what we ordered.
D. R.
Hot as hell whether summer or winter, but great little Fuller's pub. Seems to be a popular find for tourists and locals alike. Good beer, not great, but awesome atmosphere, excellent staff, amazing wine selection and outstanding food.
A. M.
This pub is by far the nicest of the pubs on this section of riverfront. Comfy seats by the large windows are perfect in the winter, and in the summer the outdoor area has a stunning view of Hammersmith Bridge. The food is great but a bit pricey.
S. L.
Very Old small English pub with fine views of the River Thames.Great ale from the smallest bar in Great Britain (Guinness book of records). If it's good enough for King Charles the second and his mistress Nell Gwynn you will enjoy yourselves. Also James Thomson wrote Rule Britannia in the pub! Would make a lovely local if you lived nearby.
N. D.
One of the most original pubs in London. Claims to have the smallest bar room. Always has a good menu and great food. Terrace on the river gives great views
l. j.
Went for a family Sunday roast, big portions and very tasty food. Always busy here. Lively and cosy atmosphere. Also has a mice little deck area to relax with a drink during summer time
M. M.
Welcoming and traditional English pub. Great food and nice staff. In warm evening you can enjoy a beautiful and quite view of the Thames from the tiny terrace.
M. D.
Lovely pub on the river. Great old building with great atmosphere. Food and drink choice was good and all tasted lovely. Staff very friendly.
D. F.
Cozy pub with wonderful little terrace on the river. Unusual, but superb cocktails - too tempting to go through the list. The food is fantastic too.
D. P.
Charming setting of historical note (though much of the original was destroyed in a 2009 fire, according to the friendly staff), with fairly-priced lunch offerings, particularly the fish and chips. Check out the "snug" on the right immediately upon entering The Dove; it may well have been the exact, favorite dining and drinking spot of King Charles II and Nell Gwynne.
K. H.
Very nice pub, excellent food (portion size on the small side though), super friendly staff. Often quite busy at the times we stumbled in so making a reservation is a good idea (very easy through their website).
j. A.
I only ever really visit the Dove for the boat race, but, providing you're there at opening, you can usually secure a good spot from the balcony to watch the entertainment. The race itself is ok, but watching all the people who go too far down the slipway on the other side of the river get drenched by the bow wave is a joy to behold. A good selection of beers, and some tasty food.
M. S.
My friend had been asking me to visit The Dove for a few months, so on one Friday evening, I decided to travel all the way to Hammersmith to give it a shot. I ended up absolutely loving the place. It is a quaint old pub on the banks of the river. On a warm day, or on a clear night, it is great to sit outside overlooking the Thames. The interiors are well done and give you the feeling of being in an old English village, rather than being in London, and that definitely adds to the charm. The seating can be a bit cramped, but I would call it 'cosy'. The staff are courteous and the drinks are moderately priced. The night I went there was a full-moon night and a bit chilly as well. Even so, we sat outside - chatting, warming ourselves with the warmth of the candle flame, and taking in the views of the moon-lit river (which, needless to say, were awesome). I would strongly recommend this place, and as I write this review, I think it's time for me to pay this lovely place another visit.
G. C.
Nice view on the river. We ordered two cocktails, focaccia as a starter, steak and fish and chips. Everything was really good, and the place is very cozy.
M. H.
Fantastic and historic riverside pub. Fuller place. Outside seating is on a deck above the river. Rule Britannia was written here. Usually very crowded. I would suggest booking a table in advance for lunch or dinner.
H. M.
Amazing Fullers pub on the Thames overlooking the Hammersmith Bridge.
T. P.
Riverside pub. Lovely place in the summer if you can get a seat outside on the terrace. Also boasts smallest bar in the world. In line with other waterside pubs on the Thames, it is fairly expensive.
G. H.
Love the Dove! A real hidden gem of a place in Hammersmith. Excellent beer, decent food and if it's not too cold there is outside seating right next to the Thames. There is also a sobriety test when leaving to pub after a few pints. Check out the door positions at the exit.
K. A.
Riverside pub with great food, quick service and fab drinks. This was my 2nd visit here and i am definitely coming back. Its quite laid back and less noisy, perfect for conversations by the river with a drink or 2.
S. G. S.
Very good cider (can't remember the brand, though). A bit noisy inside but there's a gorgeous terrace overlooking the Thames for the warmer evenings (or the daring).
L. D.
Good food, lots of veggie options. Charming interior, though not very much space on the ever-popular veranda. Well kept Fuller's ales. There is a reason why this pub is so popular so definitely pay it a visit!!
D. W. S.
One of my favourite riverside pubs with great views of Thames (and boat race!). Fullers is the local real ale - fresh from the brewery just up the road! 😊
S. L.
Good food, great views from the upstairs terrace, and excellent service from helpful and friendly staff.
T. D.
This is a wonderful old skool pub on the Thames, near Hammersmith.
The snug on the right as you enter lays claim to being the smallest bat in the world (and is, apparently, certified by the Guinness Book of Records 🤷♂️), although I'm reliably informed they recently squeezed 29 adults in there!
The whole pub has an authentic old world feel and, if you can nab one of the prized tables out the back, you will be treated to gorgeous views of the Thames.
Drink selection is decent and the wine list pretty extensive.
A. P.
The view from this old pub is amazing. And the food also. Have a nice drink at the terrace and just stare at the river for hours. One of the best places in the world.
A. M.
A nice pub, but horribly expensive and a very limited range of drinks. It's a shame as it's a lovely building on a lovely site overlooking the river, but there are so many other pubs nearby that I can't really recommend going here.
S. H.
Very quaint olde English pub. Ideal location. Really enjoyed our visit
B. A.
Good selection of drinks and a great menu. Can get a little over-crowded at times and the kitchen smells don't help if one's sitting inside.
It is a charming old pub but by no means a grand place.
C. S.
Great food and good service. Quite a tight fit and generally very full - recommend booking. Not really a place just for a quick drink as you probably won't find space.
D. S.
A closely guarded secret. Olde Worlde traditional Ale House. Fine Fullers beer. Good menu. Wooden tables. Log fires in winter. Terrace river views (Great for the Oxford and Cambridge boat race). Friendly staff. Dogs welcome. Been going there since 1968 and, thank God, still retains its 18th century charm free from "makeovers "
S. H.
Good roast dinner and nice to sit by the river
R. N.
One of the best pubs in London. Riverside location and terrace. Historic building and unique atmosphere. Top cask ale from nearby Fullers brewery.
J. S.
Lovely cozy old historic pub early 1700's and acquired by Fullers Brewery in 1796. With the smallest bar in the world. Not disable friendly as set on many levels. Great food. Staff are friendly, approachable and informative. A stone's throw away from the Thames and popular with fans of The Boat Race. If you can visit it on an uncrowded day you are in for a treat but usually it is dripping with people as mahoosively popular.
In close proximity to Furnivall Gardens, Upper Mall Open Space, Chiswick Mall, The Emery Walker Trust, Hammersmith Bridge and Ravenscourt Park.
Nearest tube station is Ravenscourt Park.
E. W.
A small pub, so best to choose a less crowded time for a visit. Still, it’s always rewarding due to an amazing history, very good food and beer, and a fantastic location right on the Thames.
P. K.
Nice and authentic pub, good selection of beers, and a lovely terrace overlooking the river. Whoever likes spotting planes will see one clever 30 seconds making its decent towards Heathrow.
S. C.
Great pub. Feels like a cosey watering hole with a great view of the river, a mile away from its brewery.
P. C.
One of the best pubs in London. Great views over the Thames and great drinks. Always take people here who are new or visiting London.
D. R.
came here as was on a list of top pubs. bit of walk from nearest station and is nice enough. pretty small though and more like a restaurant than pub imo. food was good. likely better when weather allows patio to be enjoyed.
G. P.
Lovely atmosphere, proper old London pub with beamed roof. Good beer and nice Guiness. Expensive chips at £4 per portion.
Cosy.
P. C.
Lovely pub sheltered in a corner of Hammersmith. Often busy but worth it when you manage to grab a seat. I enjoy coming here in the summer a lot to sit overlooking the Thames with a pint
P. C.
Was ok bit disappointed quite big more food than drink.but nice views
M. C.
Lovely little pub on the banks of the Thames. Get there early on a good day as tables outside go fast. Good food and very attentive staff.
c.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good food. Rated 5* because they substituted an ingredient to make one of the starters pescatarian for us - very kind and helpful.
L. L.
Very nice atmosphere and great location. Food was delicious and the beers were fresh and nicely chilled. The staff could be a bit more friendly.
O. V.
I seem to be a regular at this pub. Have been here 4 times in the last couple of weeks. Menu changes every week or so but delicious every time!
I. C.
Lovely food, helpful staff and an amazing location. A little more space would be nice but you can't help that when you're in an old building. Would definitely go here again!
E. H.
Quite simply, the best pub in London. Superb location, cosy in the winter with two fireplaces and beautiful in the son with riverside terrace. The food is excellent and the beer is some of the best in London. The ESB here is out of this world, like drinking Guiness in Dublin!
M. L.
Cozy pub, great range of beers - fantastic food and an awesome terrace for warmer weather - views across the river. One of my favourites!
J. T.
Ever wanted an old English pub by the river that actually does great food? Ever wanted to see the smallest bar in the UK? Ever wanted to be at the place where Rule Brittania was supposedly written? Me neither. But this quaint old pub is a home away from home, offering the cosiness and conviviality that chain pubs could only ever dream of emulating. Offering such English stalwarts as burgers, Sunday roasts and pies, while as the saying goes, familiarity may breed contempt... but it can sure be tasty and homely as well.
S. M.
One of the oldest pubs in London, directly on the Thames bank. Run by Fuller's Brewery The Dove offers a solid selection of classic pub food and a menu for dinner. Be sure to book a table on their website.
D. S.
I want to like this place as much as everyone else but I can't get over the smell of urine in the front bar area. Assuming it's dogs marking their territory. You just need to show the place a mop on a weekly basis, guys.
L. N.
The perfect pub. Make sure you book!
J. Y.
Wonderful foods, excellent beers, nice apple crumble
J. j.
Nice pub near the River Thames. Excellent Fuller’s beer and close to Kelmscot house - house of William Morris. Food is delicious!
M. K.
The food and atmosphere was great!!
R. S.
Awesome historical pub. Smallest bar in England and rule Britannia was written there. Worth a trip out of London to visit and close to wonderful walks and other historical pubs on the river.
v. k.
Charming! They do not kid about the size of the bar. Seating is a bit tight but that is a part of the charm. Make sure to go there on a sunny day. Not worth sitting inside when you can sit by the river.
E. B.
My favourite local pub in Hammersmith (some 15 min walk from the station via Furnival gardens). They do great food as well. My favorite are their fish and chips!
L. A. “. R. L. R.
One of our favourite places for a drink and maybe a bite to eat. Really good atmosphere. Many a merry night enjoyed here!
J. M.
Cosy traditional pub in a great location by the river. Food is always at a very high quality. Decent drinks but limited beers on tap.
T. B.
A great, characteristic London pub. A must visit whenever I'm in the area. Lovely patio area on the river, good food and lovely fire in the winter.
J. R.
Love the food, love the view, lovely staff.
R. L.
I shared a lovely blue sky, sunny afternoon by the Thames at this wonderful historic pub. The ambience, food, drinks & service were fabulous. With very helpful, friendly staff.
d.
Cosy historic Fullers pub with a good selection of beers and a small terrace overlooking the river. A good stop as part of a boat race pub crawl.
B. N.
Nice place - good food.
M. D.
Good food, nice atmosphere but not good for young families and they only have one high chair. We sat down yesterday and another table had just taken it so we had to play hot potato and take turns holding our 13 month old.
c. w.
Intamate, good selection of beers, staff positive and friendly, wide choice of food and delicious food. Great in the summer sitting outside overlooking the river.
G. R.
Old style pub, rather small but it's OK if you arrive early.
m. j.
A bit further far from the usual river bank pubs of the Hammersmith station, this quiet hystorical pub gives you nice views to the river as well as perfect beer. It's not by chance that Cromwell used to come here and the tale says that he started a revolution from here.
L. B. /. L.
Not to be funny, but was here last yr(2011) bout May when my then missus and I went out near her work place. Anyway, thought it was a quaint pub, decent food and rather friendly atmosphere.. Then again though, I was loved up - I'm am 85% sure this has not affected my rating;-) if in the area, try it out for 1, and if its not TOO busy for its size/you don't have to rush off anywhere, I'm sure you'll stay for more! L
C. B.
Nice pub on the river with a charming terrace overlooking the water, perfect for a sunny day. Reasonably priced and delicious roasts on offer too.
J. T.
this tiny quaint pub has the smallest bar room in the world just inside. Its lovely and wonderful to sit outside and watch the river. But very crowded!
V. D.
Good food, menu was a bit different but also with your favourites. Located close to the water. Wine was also well picked. Friendly, helpful service.
T. H.
Great pub on the river with a lot of history & a kind staff
J. S.
Very nice place staff very friendly food was the best I have tasted from a gastro pub in ages nice views of river too :)
H. G.
One of the oldest pubs in the river Thames. It has a lot of charming, and very good ambience. There is a list of famous people that has visited the pub, including Hemingway. I love the terrace that overlooks the river thames. One of the best spots in Hammersmith river bank.
M. D.
Last here 30 yrs ago hasn't changed still a superb pint.
P. R.
Cosy Pub alongside the Thames away from the streets and close to the park. Normal quality food... pub food. The atmosphere is warm though.
A. M.
Bags of character, Good real ale and food. A small popular pub, so do not get disappointed if you need to share a table.
B. K.
Had to wait 40 minutes for a cold starter and then served with a different bread than on the menu. Very disappointed.
Since then I received a very sincere apology,
they were very upset that my visit went so badly and hoped that I would give them another chance. I was so impressed by their response, that I shall go back and hope that their service matches their concern.

Popped in for a quick coffee with 2 dogs and staff were friendly and helpful. Did not stay long, but felt very welcome and would happily return with or without dogs.
C. C.
Lovely pub that appears to be extremely popular in the area. Quite a narrow area inside so best to go in parties of 5-6 or less. Did not have food so comment only relates to drinks.
S. C.
The ideal pub for those romantic, cold (but cosy) nights. Ideally not with the wrong romantic company as I did more than a decade ago, as I happen to conclude now, looking in retrospect.
But would definitely take the missus there now, given the chance to head back to lovely London and even lovelier Hammersmith again. ;-)
D. N.
Lovely little place overlooking the river. Small & a bit cramped inside. Fullers Beer - so London Pride, ESB, Red Fiox are on the menu and all very nice. Did not try the food.
M. M.
Gorgeous pub on the riverbank in Hammersmith. They serve fantastic food. We had the roast beef. Attentive staff and a great vibe in there.
C. l.
Really nice pub on the river . Watch the world canoe past .
P. G.
Atmospheric, friendly and great, scenic location
N. D.
By far one of the top historic pubs in all of London. Food is truly great and good bar selection. Definitely worth the little bit of a walk to the nearest stations.
M. B.
Great pub with a good location - enjoy a drink overlooking the river or in the smallest public bar in the world apparently (1999 Guinness record). Food good as was the London pride and ESB
N.
Great location and great food. The harissa spiced chicken with Israeli couscous was divine. My friends both had burgers which looked delicious.
M. C.
Fantastic historic pub with quality food and impressive selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. Lots of character.
V. V.
Old style London pub by the river.
Think old wooden beams. Open fires. Good pints of beer. Hearty food. Shepherds pie was #delish #localguide
T. T.
Nice old fashioned interior. Beautiful Riverside veranda. Good food, including vegetarian and vegan options at a good price (I had vegan chile). Very friendly, helpful, smiley staff.
L. F.
Cosy little (being the operative word) pub with a great atmosphere! Make sure you book before eating as tables are limited, but service and food was great.
S. D.
This is a hidden gem in Hammersmith area. Totally love it, the terrace in the back is wonderful and prices are ok. It doesn't matter if you're going for a beer or dinner, this is good for any event. Totally recommended, and compulsory stop if you're living in the West.
G. F.
Great view, solid beer selection and the food seems good too. One of my favourite London pubs.
B. D.
Absolutely lovely pub and really friendly staff. Good selection of Fuller's beers. The riverside terrace is spectacular.
S. M.
Booked here for Christmas eve. Was disappointed that had to wait for member of staff to go to another pub for a high chair that we had previously organised and confirmed by text. Food lovely although not piping hot when arrived
P. S.
Tremendous place next to the river, reputed to be the smallest bar in England. Very busy after 5pm. Good place to have a drink.
A. W.
Nice pub next to river Thames. On good weather days, outside sitting place gets filled fast as they have beautiful view of the river.
U. C.
Lovely views. Tasty food and good atmosphere, but pricey and annoying that if you sit outside there's NO table service. You have to order everything at the bar.
S. C.
Late afternoon...post baby trundles mayhem munch date with London family was....perfect! Friendly attentive staff in olde worldly pub fantastic and lamb shoulder was sublime. Thanks.
W. P.
One of my favourite pubs in London. It's small so can get busy but if you manage to get a table outside in the summer hold onto it for you dear life.
L. S.
Lovely old pub by the river
L. C.
Nice place to be, specially in the back garden
Lovely staff and good cold beer
PS : sorry for taking your lighter. ( didn’t done it in purpose)
Thanks

Great for coeliacs, amazing gluten free options
J. D.
This is one of my favourite pubs in England. Fantastic food, great staff and very welcoming. Would always recommend!
J. A.
Beautiful little river side terrace.
E. H.
Great location by the river and perfect on a sunny day. Beware tables outside are taken on a first come first served basis. If you book a table it will only be inside.
Friendly staff.
A. H.
Food is okay, just standard pub grub. Drinks selection is okay but not that much on offer. Staff are quick for service just not very friendly I found.
N. M.
Great food in a historical pub with friendly staff
D. B.
Great place to sit and have drinks. The food is amazing and the pub has a lot of history, you can't ask for a lot more!
P. R.
Food good but small portions and expensive. Many items on menu unavailable. Service average at best in terms of both attentiveness and style. And this on a Wednesday lunchtime! Very good on view and atmosphere as always.
A. N.
What an awesome location to have a pub. Right on the river. Very friendly and good fish and chips. Guinness does not hurt either.
C. J.
A nice little pub with tons of history, a good selection of beers and good service. Do recommend get there early as it can fill up very quickly!.
C. K.
It's ok, staff could be a tad friendlier
Y.
Great spot - pop on the balcony if the sun is up for a drink with a view or huddle inside for cosiness if it isn't - just watch your head as it is a very low ceiling affair! Lovely pub
D. C.
Very good. A lot of places overcook squid. Here, it is fine. I have not had a bad meal here. They do a good pint too.
K. S.
Ok, I am an American so my opinion on such matters is questionable at best. However, this charming pub serves the best fish and chips that I have ever had.
A. F.
Nice rustic pub, excellent food and friendly service. Next to the Thames river. Friendly classy atmosphere.

DOVE REVIEW
I know of no other pub that gives such a wonderful welcome, with a friendly service second to none, well kept ale and great grub. Congratulations to all concerned!
David.
A. D.
River terrace is great. Friendly staff.
P. M.
Nice pub next to Riverside. Assure you get a place on the outside benchs on sunny days. Not ready for the busy days, they delay to serve more than one hour.
F. R.
This is one of the coolest and tiniest pubs, close to the river and I am so lucky to live close by and often to have great times in there, whether I am having a good dinner or just over a glass of wine or dinner am enjoying the company of my mates.
H. H.
Lovely place, great in summer, great chips, could do with a few extra options on the beer front. Nice terrace on the Thames when it’s warm out
K. M.
Always disappointed by the food - the fish and chips is the best around but the rest of the menu is poor. Great setting as it is the only place right next to the river just wish the menu was upgraded.
J. T.
Had half a Black Cab Stout in 'ere after a mozie around Chiswick. FAB views of The Mighty Thames. Food looked ACE so WILL be trying it at some point! Proper rub-a-dub! Catch you again soon!
T. B.
Really great food and pretty affordable prices. The staff were friendly. Would be lovely in the summer as it looks out across the river.
T. S.
Fairly standard pub with nice outdooor area
A. W.

Fab pub, great food, good value, great location. Nice staff too, happy to put up with our young kids making life difficult.
V. M.
Very nice pub and with an amazing garden next to a canal! Is a really good choice for a romantic date especially in summer..
L. B. T.
It's a cute pub on the river with a great history. It's a small place so can get crowded but dog friendly with a good drink selection.
Z. E.
Lovely authentic Pub we had just a few drinks the service staff just standard.
J. M.
Really nice little pub by the Riverside. It claims to be the pub where rule brittania was written and also have the smallest pub in the world according to the Guinness book of records
J. F.
An institution for Sunday roast. Chef prepares beautiful roasts with silky smooth gravy and fresh Yorkshire’s, staff is more than accommodating, and the setting is resplendent.
f. a.
Record breaking smallest bar with some of the best pub food I've ever had, amazing location with great staff and interior.
Definitely a must see if you are in West London
k.
No kitchen at the end of a shift.
Place and a beer are good though
J. M.
Had a beer in the smallest bar room. The glass was chipped. The menu looked good but was very expensive.
E.
Lovely pub, very small but has a great balcony area overlooking the Thames.
T. V.
Staff was really slow and kept forgetting our orders. Food was mediocre for the price unfortunately but nice atmosphere in the place in general
R. D.
Lovely place. Great atmosphere & friendly staff. Always good to book ahead because it's small and can get very busy.
F. N.
Lovely hidden pub on top of the Thames' river. Great atmosphere and nice balcony for a sunny day.

Lovely place with a wonderful view of the Thames out on the terrace. Plenty of other pubs nearby also, highly recommended.
A. M.
Fantastic riverside pub with great food excellent beer and amazing views.
A. D.
Officially has the world's smallest bar, was supposedly the inspiration for James Thomson "Rule Britainnia" and and wonderful view of the Thames. There are few pubs in London that can compete.
D. B.
Fantastic little pub tucked away by the river. Well worth a visit but it can get pretty busy at weekends.
O. P.
Great Fullers pub with a lovely back garden and nice venison burger option. Yummy! Think of booking your table early though.
J. K.

Good little pub with outdoor space right on the Thames. Beer selection isn't great, which is the only reason it is not 5 stars.
D. W.
Historic Fullers Pub with great views.
R. F.
Fantastic pub. Great in summer or winter. A real find tucked away in a quiet spot on the river.
T. A.
Perfect place for dates, really beautiful balcony and view.

Nice quant pub with cosy feel, by the river. Not the widest selection of drinks but what they have is good.

Perfect pub on the river.
S. L.
Great location. Very busy. Fantastic staff. Let down by lack of menu stock and then a very poor steak as a substitute but all dealt with very well
S. U.
Good lunch in a traditional pub right on the bank of the Thames. Hidden away from the city bustle. Close to William Morris' Hammersmith home.
P. M.
Great old world real pub. Nice atmosphere with rear garden overlooking the Thames.
A. W.
Nice place except for one small, but actually rather major problem. Any table near the loo stinks of toilets. And when you are eating a meal, this is not even slightly amusing. Actually, its' horrible...
M. K.
Love this place, but don't tell anyone
J. B.
Beautiful old pub & space, sadly most of it is dedicated to food now so the bar areas get very crowded, but still not something to miss if you're in the area.
R. C.
Great little pub with amazing history. Great wine selection and enjoyed sitting outside looking over the river.
N. W.
I enjoyed the terrace overlooking the river where plenty of rowing activity was in progress. The food was good too.
W. O. i.
Great pub! Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food was superb.
V. H.
Very cosy, old fashioned riverside pub with yummy burgers and scrumptious fish and chips.
T. B.
Great location, nice place, food is not bad, but they seem to suffer from poor hiring decisions regards the staff. Nothing particularly bad, just disinterested and unhelpful
J. E.
Characterful riverside tavern, great stop when walking the Thames Path. Real ale and bar snacks.
B. M.
ancient pub along the river with nice food and an amazing view from the terrace! one of my favourite pubs in London!

G. M.
Incredible Sunday roast, we'll worth the price and such a stunning old building with a great balcony. Highly recommend
B. C.
Fantastic historic pub which stocks well kept Fullers beers. The ESB was particularly good on my visit.
H. R.
Cozy, great staff and quality food. The location is excellent too with the view of the river in the background
W. C.
I can't believe that a place like this really exist. That was my first time in London and eating a roast. And I can't imagine a better place to know the real face of London.
A. J.
Great pub situated at the side of the Thames ideal in the summer on the night we visited the food wasn't the best but the staff did their best to rectify this
J.
Lovely little traditional pub. Friendly staff .. Loved it as a stop along river Thames walk
S. H.
Great location and atmosphere. Good service and food but choices are limited and not very flexible when carrying for special diets or vegetarians.
L. F.
In this little cozy pub on the Thames the writer Ernest Hemingway used to come to write and drink. It still retains a old fashion magic atmosphere.
R. V.
OMG the butternut squash with quinoa, their only vegan dish on the menu, is to die for! With that view and a glass of red... cant wait to be back!
M. H.
Amazing Pub! Great Atmosphere with nice waitress/waiter. Burger was delicisios

Beautiful and quirky, it has low ceilings, lots of wood and a real traditional pub vibe.
S. S.
Great cosy pub. I have eaten here a few times and always had a positive experience
R. H.
Very nice pub but food prices far too high for a lunch or midday snack.
