Reviews of The Duke of Cambridge
V. W.
Great atmosphere- beautiful setting, just tucked away from the hustle and bustle of all the shops in Angel. Great service and delicious food with some respectable vegan options. Wine was not great but willing to try again! Would definitely go again though even if it was on the pricey side.
L. C.
Food was absolutely lovely and the place has the cosy atmosphere that one wants for a family Sunday dinner. Rustic and contemporary at the same time, it felt like the perfect Tuscany-London crossover.
The one thing I can mention is portion size. For the price paid for our roast, I was shocked not to have a Yorkshire pudding included with my dinner, and very few vegetables, compared to other places.
Other than that would totally recommend!

The food is out of this world, the service super nice and the whole place feels like home. I’m not vegetarian but love that they always have lots of veggie options, that each tastes better than the other. I wish I could do this at home 😜 And if we have meat I know it’s top quality. Great atmosphere whether you’re with friends or family.
They are also engaged in the community and raise money for charity, another reason to go back again and again.
Love this pub, definitely in my top favourites. See you soon!

We were crammed in between two large tables, it rather felt like we were just squeezed in for a bit of extra cash, despite the fact we booked a good few days in advance. Had to ask for drinks three times on arrival, table wasn't cleared for ages. Food was good, but the whole experience makes it difficult to recommend.

From the outside, it somehow reminds you of the Guild Navigators in David Lynch's "Dune". Inside, not so much, but it's a nice space with large tables and a cosy, yet open and airy atmosphere. Didn't have the food so can't comment on that, but the pint of porter I had was nice. Go there.
S. V.
We were there for chilled Sunday afternoon, maybe grab a roast as well but the prices and the portion is obscene for what is on the plate. Their organic cider was nice but overall as first experience I found the food too pricey for the quality.
H. P.
Food was beautiful, the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a real buzz. We had a great circular table for the 8 of us. Vegan roast dinner was delicious. Was a brilliant birthday lunch - thank you!
K. K.
Sunday roast was below average. Small portion and the sides were not nicely cooked. And this for £22! The brownie was great but still pricey.

We stopped here as we’re soon moving to the neighborhood and wanted to check out a pub. We were NOT prepared to be blown away! Great food, friendly service, beautiful atmosphere. Excited to be regulars here!

Returned after a few good years. Enjoyed the pub lunch overall, we had the mackerel and the lamb and I liked that the tall doors were open to aereate the large room. We can order from the table now which is better than before. Friendly staff, fairly quick service considering it was full. Cheesecake was nice and pleasant to eat but lemon tart (or maybe it’s sauce?) not good at all.
N. B.
Came for a relaxed evening meal with my parents and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Food was fresh, some dishes classical, others very inventive (and tasty).
The atmosphere is that of a great family pub and our waitress was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed our time there very much.
Also, they have a great selection of wine which can be a surprise for a pub, wine lovers are well catered for!

Excellent. Excellent food service atmosphere. Fresh and always changing. We live nearby and go very often and have never been disappointed. Everything is delicious on the menu, it's fast if you want it fast, excellent service. Value for money. Just go. You will love it.

I went to The Duke for the first time yesterday and was positively blown away. My girlfriend had booked a table and when we arrived at 3pm the place was already packed. We were however approached at the door and led to our table where we were taken care of by Alice who was was attentive and knowledgeable. There was not a long wait on anything either, our drinks arrived within a couple of minutes with each order. The food was absolutely incredible. I had the Veggie roast and my girlfriend the Venison. We demolished everything on our plates and even had space left over for dessert (Chocolate brownie - Alice's recommendation) which was also spectacular. I also love how they serve coffee, the mokka is such a rustic and cool touch.
I highly recommend this wonderful little gem!
S. V.
Delicious veggie options, friendly and efficient staff. It’s fairly busy on weekend but staff accommodate you if they can. If you are a large party, do make a reservation. Kid-friendly restaurant. Don’t leave without ordering dessert - so worth it!
P. C.
The Duke of Cambridge is an absolute gem. An entirely organic menu from Riverford, with some of the friendliest staff you’ll meet, and a great crowd. I can recommend lunch time as it’s nice and quiet and you can while away a happy afternoon here. Bring on unemployment.

Visited with my sister, cousin and his wife. I had salmon starter, fish of the day (Pollock) and Apple crumble with dairy free almond ice-cream. And even though all organic, unlike some organic restaurants there was no compromise. Everything was spot on and tasted great. My cousin loved his pork starter and venison main. I can't remember what he thought of the cheese he had for dessert. His wife had ray fin for main but found it too different for her expectations. My sister had chicken main which was as expected. They both had brownie dessert which was more fondant than rock hard dry brownie which is a good thing in my book. Well worth a visit.
M. A.
Haven't been for ages, and it didn't disappoint, still great. Sunday roast is a limited menu, but really well executed. The roast potatoes are the absolute star. Everybody at the table thought their starters were delicious and the beers (lots of Purity on when we visited alongside some organic options) and wines (good selection of organic & natural) we're all spot on.
Staff were helpful, friendly and really accomodating of us with a toddler.
Lovely to see a pub do a top end gastro food and drink offer really well, but stay grounded and 'pubby' with well behaved dogs, children and adults all enjoying themselves.
My only complaint was that getting the bill, and subsequently paying it, took a little while and a fair bit of effort from our part, so that could have been slicker.
S. S.
Excellent food and great as a local pub! Staff are very friendly and service is good. The whole menu is fresh and organic. Try the monk fish if in season! Their organic house red is really good. The atmosphere and ambiance is really good. It’s nice to sit outside for a few drinks. The restaurant area is really great on a sunny day, as they open the skylights and glass doors to the outside. The food is a little pricier than normal pub food but definitely worth it!
J. B.
We have been twice. The food is overpriced, irrespective of ethical farming which is now available from a variety of restaurants and expected. Food quality is not great, although there are gems.
The Sunday roast was not so good. Roast potatoes were tough, and over cooked. Red wine gravy left a lot to be desired and didn't match the food (even Oxo would have been better), and the lamb was gristly. Considering the price this just isn't a good meal. Inedible roast potatoes is a big no. This is the worst roast I've had in London.
The watermelon gazpacho was an interesting take but nothing to shout home about.
The burrata on the other hand was divine.
On the dessert front, the set of cheeses and crackers was nice, but quite expensive (four pound per lump of cheese). There's a high mark up.
The lemon tart was mediocre.
The previous time we went was a similar mixed bag, with the boney fish being a big thumbs down from our foreign friends, whilst the lamb shank was good.
Bonus marks for nice atmosphere, friendly staff and dog friendly.
Reading back through the reviews something has gone wrong, it's almost like another world.
Ultimately whilst the ethically farmed angle is inspiring, the quality of the end products doesn't seem to match the quality of the ingredients and the prices are far too high for what is served.

The pub is usually on Mondays because the restaurant section is closed. They have great food and a fantastic selection of beers. The menu changes frequently so you never get bored. Is board-games friendly and during the week is easy to find a table. Generally kind and professional staff, which is good for a change in London.
T. S.
One of the best gastro pub I know. They always have new dishes on their menu and they are delicious. We had the most incredible Basque cheesecake recently!
A. L.
Undeniably 5* the ambience, attitude and aesthetic really hit the mark. Frequently changing menu delivering the freshest produce to plate. Truly charming notes across all dishes, variety in colour palettes additionally pleasing and service, impeccable. Highly, highly recommend this dining experience!
P. L.
My favorite restaurant in Islington : healthy gastropub that you can go to every day. Friendly staff, good beers, organic wine list as well as healthy food made with high quality ingredients obviously. You can't go wrong here.
A. D.
Fantastic food and drink, a great dining room, but pricing and surprise charges have made value for money an issue that could deter many diners.
N. P.
One of the best Sunday roasts in England... The ingredients are fresh, the food is well prepared and served beautifully. Something for everyone. Not over priced. We had the lamb and confit chicken. Simply delicious! The beers on tap are a little on the warm side, but the organic cider in tap is cold enough and tastes delicious.. There is also a good selection of cold beers in the fridge. An extensive wine list also.
Great for a date, to hang out with friends, family. The lot. Definitely going back for some tasty scrub 😊
Oh and they cooked the best parsnip I've EVER had with a Sunday roast. Hands down. Go go go!
R. B.
Nice airy room with lots of windows, high ceilings and well spaced tables. Organically sourced food with a nice, if slightly unadventurous menu. But that may be a positive. Decent big langustines, shepherd's pie, mackerel, a couple of veggie options which would please many a carnivore. Sticky browny, crumble, cheesecake, nice cheese selection. Decent organic wine list. A gastro pub nice enough to justify the five minute detour off Islington Green.
A. S.
Still got a few original features, minus the bar separators. Clean friendly and not too expensive.
T. O. (.
Just a short walk from the canal. Really great staff and tons of character. Will definitely come again. Excellent food as well.
S. M.
Everything is organic, and so everything is slightly different than you might expect. Still very good food and drinks.
Casual pub and a restaurant in back.
y. p.
love this place, always vibrant, menu constantly changes, lots of nice beers and cider on tap.
S. R.
A hearty meal that doesn't leave you bloated, is what you get here.
We ordered 5 items.
-Caponata stuffed pepper, warm hummus, greens, tomato salsa & green beans
-Rump of lamb, roasted aubergine, roasted tomatoes, harissa, greens, tahini & lemon dressing, gravy
-Dark, milk & white chocolate brownie, creme fraiche
-Lemon posset, blueberry compote
-Buttered new potatoes
L. H.
Highly recommended! Loved everything I had on the menu full of surprises and quality of ingredients are amazing. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Love the concept and also values this represents. Will be back for more ♥️
T. W.
Venison roast dinner, squash roast dinner, crumble and chocolate brownie puds, real ale and glass of rioja. Dinner. Rather too many rugrats but otherwise lovely.
K. L.
Great gastropub. Produce are completely organic and their roast dinners are absolutely delicious. The pub is family friendly and quirkly decorated.
F. F.
Great food with nice little twists and good drinks and adequately pricey.
Great beers, for instance the black IPA, and a lovely cider.
The lamb roast was fantastic, very tasty meat, great potatoes and good carrots, quite a small roast though, especially few sides. £19
Salmon was of finest quality served on wild garlic, spinach, asparagus with miso sauce. The vegetables just flash fried, great. £19
Home made bread is good and served with some rich olive oil
Charred cucumber salad with buck wheat is a nice side. £8
Coffee from Bialettis, a rarety nowadays
M. M.
Very nice pub, good food, good beer, great place to be with friends and for events
B. N.
Such a lovely roast, great service and delicious food. One of the best in London IMO
N. M.
Amazing hosts and delicious food! The management is really great as well, can't recommend the place enough...the veggies sing on the plate and the lamb just melts in your mouth :D this place is set to become a firm Sunday roast favourite xx
k. m.
Food is good (especially the almonds and olives!) and the staff is great.

An institution. The kind of perennial neighbourhood place that has ceased to surprise you but consistently delivers on the high expectations it set when it once did.
The bar is magnificent, worth going to just to be in, big, bright, open and full of big tables. If you’re eating try and get a table in the restaurant section at the back. If you’re catching the late summer evening light, get a table outside. There’ll randomly be a box of surplus apples or kiwis or something by the front door for people to take home. There are board games.
The food is very, very good. I have ceased to be surprised, as I said, but the quality of the ingredients is so good (particularly the vegetables which I presume come from the farm associated with the restaurant) that I am regularly delighted. The fact that it’s organic doesn’t excite my ethics enough to see past what is sometimes a relatively pedestrian menu, but it’s clear that that leaning on good ingredients is what gives The Duke it’s theme, and what makes it so reliable.
I don’t drink the wine (but I assume it’s great), the whiskey menu is good (but I don’t drink whiskey). The beer selection is very acceptable, there is always something excellent to drink. The fact that not all the beers on sale are organic probably says something about organic beer (...does anyone care if their beer is organic?), and there are often some wasted taps given to dull options that fit with the theme of the restaurant. But they always have something very good on tap and normally have bottles of Kernel in the fridge.
I love this pub. It is the residential neighbourhood corner bar/cafe/restaurant that the city you fantasise about living in has, but it’s in the city you’re in.
T. D.
Our favorite pub in the neighborhood. Big menu that gets updated regularly. Lots of tasty vegetarian dishes.
D. C.
Although pricy, the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is great. Great for groups. Kid friendly and pet friendly.
p.
Lovely spacious pub ideal with kids and only craft beers on draft
F. G.
Best organic pub in the area, varied menu that change regularly. Friendly staff. Dog friendly
A. A.
It's so good I'm writing a review of it. A lovely pub with a restaurant area and more pub-y area. Great beers, amazing food, and our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and it didn't require 5 minutes of arm waving in order to get service. The food is a bit more expensive than other places, but it's absolutely bangin', plus it has some ethical integrity, so you feel great about spending that little bit more on it. Go to this pub, but not too much, because I still want to go there too.
J. D.
Although the pub is lovely and the service was good, on my most recent visit the food was a bit underwhelming. We ordered the gratin which, as we had been told was pretty small so as to be expected, but I only got half a chicken breast for my main. Ive worked in the business for years, and have never been served half a chicken breast before, and for £14.00 I thought it a little steep. Also, It was a touch dry, and light on veg and gravy. Shame as Ive eaten here a few times and never had an issue before.
n.
We had an excellent lunch here, our first but I hope not our last. The food was great, service really good (they chilled a bottle of wine for us we had received as a present) and the atmosphere lively without being too loud. And for where it is and the quality of the food the bill was not outrageous
A. G.
I loved the mismatched furniture and the cost atmosphere of the place. I went there two days after Christmas and the decorations were really pretty too. The staff super friendly and yet professional. The food was incredible!!!! I had the burrata with veggie and romanesca sauce as a starter: it was absolutely delicious! Then I had the venison pie which was also very nice and the portion abundant. Last but not least: a triple chocolate beetroot brownie! It was a huge surprise for me as I am usually not so adventurous, but I adored it as it was not too sweet but it was melting in my mouth! Great service and amazing food! Definitely recommend for a date dinner but also for a group of friends!
D. W.
Hearty organic roasts including a vegetarian option. Front area is reserved for walk-ins.
S. P.
Organic gastro-boozer with good real ales and hearty food. Charming.
E. Z.
Great to come across a pub with sustainability and animal welfare in mind, it's cosy and staff is pleasant, if a little forgetful at times. Food was okay, the lentil soup over powered by lemon flavour and chicken and polenta satisfying, but bland. That said, I would go back for the atmosphere and to see if the food improves.
p. s.
Good for a quick drink. Not many food options on the menu.
J. M.
A friend had booked a large table here for a birthday gathering. The menu is varied but with mainly healthy options - fish stews, braised lentils, and soups, etc. Prices are on the steep side but the quality is high. Great ambience with friendly staff - a perfect place for spending an afternoon. Just don't expect typical pub fare on the menu, eg. burgers and chips!
R. O.
Great space, Very interesting menu, exiting dishes however everything we had tasted a little lifeless, a bit bland. Not bad but just disappointing, and we’ve been Riverford customers for nearly 3 years now. So I know the products are top quality... maybe considering cooking more tasteful recipes and hiring another cook!
I confess that we were disappointed...
K. D.
Nice place for a cozy meal. A bit dark but it was nighttime. Would be very light during the day with large glasses eating area. Menus change regularly and are a little on the pricey side but I will definitely have it on my to revisit list.
A. W. C.
I've been here a few times. The food is REALLY GOOD. There are good vegetarian and vegan options and organic beer and wine. The atmosphere is also very nice both on the pub and restaurant side and the staff is friendly. They also host cooking classes held by Riverford Organics every so often which is lots of fun (the info for that is on the Riverford website).
M. Ó.
Absolutely fabulous meal with great beer at this fine gastropub. I had beers I'll never have a chance to drink again unless I manage to visit again, and wonderful food, well prepared. The downside is that everything seems to be twice as expensive in London as it is outside the city - I just cannot wrap my brain around how to justify that.
D. W.
We chose the Duke for our wedding dinner having loved the food we had eaten there previously. Fiona and her team did an amazing job on the day, the venue looked perfect, the food was delicious and the service was super friendly, quick and attentive. Vegetarian and vegan meals were given just as much thought and care as meat and fish dishes and we're still getting compliments about the food and the venue. We love these guys!
A.
A palace for fresh organic food.
It's not cheap, but I am happy to pay for this quality.
Rotating both their wines and dishes, providing great variety with a quite exotic combination and a full of flavour both for Omnivores and Plant based. Expect between 13-16 for a main
E. N.
Heard great things about this place but overall the food was a huge disappointment. Lacked real flavour. Staff are friendly and the way they source their produce is a plus but in the end if the food didn’t impress then you are not going to book again. Bar is nice and beer is good.
A. K.
A very special pub in a hip area of London that you can spend all day in - the menu changes and is written on a blackboard inside. Make a booking in advance! The dining room is spacious yet cozy. The food is delicious and unlike any other gastropub I’ve been in - the options are diverse with a focus on organic produce and veggies. Our party loved the pork belly, fish stew, apple crumble and beetroot brownie, and a Shiraz from South Africa. Start with bread and olives for nibbles. Will definitely be back.
D. s.
Always a reliable pub with great food and friendly service. The also have a really nice wine list. Nice bright interior with lovely big windows and tables outside on the pavement. I always manage to get a walk-in table lunch on weekends
J. E.
Half pub / half restaurant, wholly great. VERY family friendly, and the open floor plan of the pub area is great for groups. The food, while a bit in the pricier side for "pub fare" (heads up, this isnt a standard pub nor is the food standard by any means) is wonderful and worth it. Also, the have wine on tap!

The most delicious Sunday roast, with a hearty ale.

On most occasions I find myself spending any time in Angel I come here. Now that I think about it, I've met my dad here whilst he was visiting London, my mates dropped the news he popped the question to his fiancée here, I've had first dates and catch ups with old pals; it's a versatile place with a good atmosphere. The food is good and the beer is good. Staff are bright and informed. Asking the barmaid here today about the name on the menu she introduced herself as the daughter of the guy who's fronting the Riverford organic farms aspect of the business, which includes veg boxes you may have seen or ordered.
One of the best in the area.
A. A.
It's a great place for a good ol' hearty meal! My friend and I gorged through the pheasant aaaah it was just perfect! The portion sizes were generous and the it was organic so the meat and the potatoes just tasted even more better! + the atmosphere and the friendly staff just made the experience extra special!
R. A.
I have very mixed feelings about this pub. On one hand, for some drunks and snacks: I like it, a good selection of well looked after beer and prices that aren't too bad. the bar snacks, like the scratching, are fantastic and in the summer it's great sitting outside.
On the other hand, for dinner: I'm not convinced. Yes it's organic, yes it's fresh tasting and yes it's super duper eco friendly save the planet stuff but the food really isn't that tasty, as other have said, they run out of stuff early and the overall expietnce of eating here isn't fantastic.
R. G.
I was very satisfied about the food, the quality and the service. The dishes were delicious and everything come from organic farms where I also buy them with home delivery. I didn't give 5 stars only because I found it a bit overpriced. I think it's because they charge you 12,5% for tips. I would come back and suggest to my friends
M. C.
The five stars apply to the food only. I had a fried polenta, ratatouille and wild garlic pesto dish there that was absolutely fantastic. However the beer they have on tap are just not cooled enough. You shouldn't be drinking European-style lagers or American-style IPAs at a British temperature...
M. L.
It's a really nice pub and have been before but we went for Sunday lunch and it was just quite expensive for a fairly small Vege Sunday roast. I know Islington is expensive but I feel like this place is pushing the boundaries on price and so I'm hoping a 3* review can do a small bit towards rethinking the pricing.
Z. H.
I used to love this pub, every time I visit my daughter in London we go for drinks, but last time we went for Sunday Roast Lunch and very disappointed, I ordered roast chicken, and instead I had a dried chicken leg, (for me chicken leg is not a roast chicken) and a dried chicken leg for £19.50 is a total ripped off. So don't think we will be going back again. Sorry but ruined my lunch.
J. F.
Sunday dinner was pretty lacklustre... dry salty pork leg - without the apricot sauce it promised, however the accompanying vegetables were prepared nicely. My other half had scallops which were cooked to her liking however the parsnip puree and raw spinach didn't complement them at all. And hake for her main, the hake smelt very fishy and quality was questionable, dish was described as a hake broth but it was more of a tomato based stew with peppers. Not impressed. Overall, lovely surroundings with family and friends enjoying a good catch up. The ales and wine by the glass were decent. Will return for drinks and bar snacks.
J. H.
Great food, nice atmosphere, and good wine.
G. B.
So I have been at TDoC once a year for the last 5 years, taking relatives for dinner when they visited London. Throughout the years we have witnessed a steady decline in portion sizes, cooking quality and ratio quality for price. The quality of ingredients seems good to me as all the other times, however for example on this occasion the risotto was grossly hard and undercooked, which made it unpleasant, the size of venison steak was minimalist for £19, cheese selection was kind of Tesco style, wine selection was overpriced. However the staff is very pleasant and accomodating, I feel the effect of hypsterification may have affected my beloved TDoC as well, so not planning to go back as my guests were left disappointed and I was enbarassed with my in-laws. Sorry TDoC but you were so much better sometime ago, and now I feel you just push on the branding of organic food and could invest more in making your customers happy, and not feeling ripped off.
F. P.
Very nice atmosphere, bit pricey.
J. M.
It's very sad, but this place has gone downhill since they sold-out/married Riverford.
The food is really over-priced and the quality is not what it once was.
Still, it's a lovely place to drink and a nice big space with a good ambience and atmosphere. Just eat elsewhere in Islington, there's so much competition (even if it's 100% organic), first choice winner by a country mile is the Drapers Arms!
G.
Amazing local, especially great when you time it for the afternoon sun, whilst sipping on a negroni 10/10!
M. S.
I liked this place. They have a really interesting and distinctive menu and the food was delicious. We ate in the back area which was quiet and comfortable. The service was really friendly and helpful too
B. B.
Hyper-organic, super friendly pub. Great open layout, feel spacious even when busy, if you're lucky enough to get one of the 4 outside tables on a sunny day - you're golden. Try the Freedom lager - really tasty and refreshing and a step away from the standard beers you would expect.
P. K.
Wine was much much better here than any other pub I've visited in Britain. I went for a supper club event related to Riverford Farms. Evidently the pub owner is married to the owner of Riverford, and both are very interested in organic food. The supper was delicious and pudding (apple crisp) was brilliant. I'll definitely go back. Decor and building are charming and cosy
H. B.
A real favourite - great pub with exceptional organic food. I've been many, many times and never seen the same menu - there's always beautifully fresh produce and excellent variety.
E. S.
Lovely food. One veggie and one vegan in the party. The Dahl was dry which surprised me, everything else was fresh and tasty. Bread and butter pudding was nice and rich. Washed down with blonde beer from Isle of Skye.
M. E.
Great Atmos. Popped in for quick round of craft beers. Great selection. Food menu looks scrumptious but we didn't have time in our schedule to sample it.
I. C.
Cozy location, friendly staff and great quality produce. Everything we tried (salmon, chicken, veggie options) was delicious! Suitable for large groups with kids and prams.
R. M.
a great palce just off from upper street, the place bills itself as the first organic gastropub and prices do look a little bit steep. however the portions looked decent and the smells were good.
The range of beers was decent and prices on a par with London in general.
This would defeinitely be the kind of Sunday daytime or as a place to take the parents , or chill out with friends and or reasonably new girlfriedn kind of place.. and thats no bad thing.
We stayed there for a while on a blistering hot day, and I found the service good though I'd like to see how it is when really bsy
C. S.
Lovely and bright local pub with a short daily organic menu.

Several years ago, I had pan fried skate which I have never, but never found better elsewhere. I’m trying to replicate it myself. When I like a dish, I want to copy it - this doesn't happen often but I’m obstinate. The trouble is this experience happened the year when the Duke of Cambridge won the gastro pub award and I suppose the chef went elsewhere. Afterwards, as is often the case, this dish was not the same!e

Top pub. Top grub. Went for the Sunday roast on a sunny day. Was lovely. They also were really great to cater for my wife being Coeliac.
C. K.
Very tasty food, all organic. Lovely atmosphere, in a good location. A little pricey but you're paying for organic produce which makes it more worth it.
C. S.
Came quite late on Sunday night (8 30pm table for 2) but waitress and service was really poor. A shame because the food was really great so actually spoilt the experience a bit. Not sure if we will go back
S. M.
Good wines and beers and a good atmosphere, and I love the idea of a veg focused and organic pub restaurant, but the £19(!!) Sunday roast isn't quite up to scratch.
M. M.
Went to the Riverford organic restaurant attached to the pub. Food was tasty (I had the veg option). Unfortunately you can only see the menu on the day as they cook from whatever is available on the day.
C. W.
This pub came with a very high recommendation, It was ok, but a poor selection of wine plus quite expensive. The problem I had which is a bit difficult to voice, is that the pub allowed people who had children to let them run completely wild in the pub, don't get me wrong I am not against children in the pub, if the parents and the pub do actually not allow this to happen. Sadly we are in the position where it is thought to be absolutely ok to allow your little ones to do as they like, this is an adult envioronment after all, and this should be mindfull, not everyone thinks it is cute to have children running in and out of your table whilst trying to have an enjoyable evening, I am afraid this has put me off coming back, come on staff be brave and ask the parents to control their children. I have to say that the staff were extremely lovely.
K. P.
The best Sunday roast I've had in a pub in London! I had the beef!
H. W.
Enjoyed starter and pudding, but disappointing main of chargrilled chicken with potatoe salad (£19.50). It was too dry and very overpriced for such poor quality. Friends chose the roast pork which they reported to be good.
g. v. s.
Lovely place with nicely made organic food. Love the atmosphere. Prices are ok and you can easily find a spot even for large groups with short notice.
A. T.
Awesome craft beers and wines!
l. c.
Good Sunday lunch but very busy place, so booking recommend. Good quality organic meat and vegetables.
K. H.
Lovely meal ... Real find.
U. V.
A bit pricey for some dishes as they come in small portions but it is a quaint place where everything is delicious. The homemade bread is really good.
C. M.
Good lamb shank roast - could have been a bit more fall-off-the-bone, but still quite tender. Beautifully flavourful.
A. T.
Garlic Roasted Potatoes was crispy outside but melting inside, it was outstanding. And Organic Farm Salmon was very tender with great flavor.
R.
Fully organic certified pub (including all drinks). One of the best Sunday lunches in the area and generally a bit quieter than most, probably because it is also just that little bit more expensive.
J. P.
I have lived opposite this pub for about 8 years..
The beer is excellent - I love it
and most at less than £4 a pint
but the food is very very over priced and of variable quality..
£22 for a small fillet of sea bass on a pile of lentils and cabbage ..from cornwall not farmed...
but
J. H.
Somewhere to take your mum to prove to her you are now a grown up. Nice food and beer, but rather smug. A safe bet date pub too although can sometimes be hard to get a table. Book in advance if going for dinner.
c. c.
Travelled from Eastbourne and had the best meal I've had in a long time... don't tell the wife..!! I can also recommend the Dunkerton cider superb.
H. T.
Awesome pub with a brilliant roast with all organic ingredients. Great with friends or family. Recommended. I'm a regular!
G. M.
Service not too bad as the evening warmed up. Great food, loved the crab starter. Beers r great. Give it a go. 🖖
T. S.
Lovely food and great atmosphere, but a bit on the pricey side. All organic though and sourced locally, so price matches the food.
D. G.
Good atmosphere, great beer selection and fantastic food. Prices are relatively high but mostly justified.
A. L.
Good place for brunch. They have board games inside and it's nice to sit outside when sunny but the services was average.
A. S.
Tasty healthy vegan option for a Sunday roast!
K. R.
Great food here, particularly the veggie options. Menu has gotten better and better over the years, love coming back.
A. B.
Great organic seasonal food with a reasonable beer selection. A great place to organise a meal for a special occasion, with a light and airy atmosphere
R. P.
This was my local when I lived in Islington, during the 80s. It's changed beyond recognition and is now a gastro pub, serving excellent food and drink. Only downside is, I miss the pool table.
R. C.
Great to have an organic pub in Islington, good food and wine but the beer was not very good. Seats out side and friendly staff.
f. d. c.
I know I will probably never have a roast in another pub again. This was the best (in my case) chicken roast I had in a pub.
I will definitely come back if I can get a table...
S. D.
A new favourite! Delicious food and a very friendly staff makes the perfect combination for a Sunday afternoon roast ☺️
D. H.
Reliable quality food. I have been going for years. There is more local competition than there used to be but it's still worth checking out.
L. N.
Organic pub food (and drinks) has gotten better and better over the past few years.
B. P.
great spot to sit outside in the afternoon sun for a drink, lovely service.
A. T.
Delicious food and all organic! Good vegetarian options and great service too.
S. G.
I really love this pub, the drinks and the food are always 100% fresh, however the service is still a bit poor. I will visit again
C. R.
Delicious and high quality products, positive and ambitious staff. Awesome service. Great variety of drinks.
S. P.
It’s a really lovely space - feels welcoming and spacious. The staff are friendly and the food is great. Would recommend.
C. Z.
Quite good food although soup was over seasoned, and it is a little lacking in atmosphere.
S. P.
Alternative pub, nice atmosphere and healthy food
The only thing that I didn't like was the overprice of the dessert for a really tiny slice of brownies (taste was delicious btw) but too expensive!
M. M.
Beautiful pub with great beer options.
T.
Great pub with a reasonable pub grub (pub food) priced menu. I had Burger and chips and one pint of diet coke...Hmmm...Delicious :)
K.
Nice informal menu and a relaxed atmosphere. Food is organic and tasty but overpriced. Service is slow.

Nice selection of seasonal produce-based dishes, an affordable wine list, friendly service, and an attractive, unfussy space.
M. S.
Friendly service and great beers, had a gluten free IPA on tap
S. C.
Delicious food in a laid back environment. Great place to catch up with friends, worth venturing off Upper Street.
N.
The food is OK. There is very little choice. It's not great value for the money.
M. B.
Absolutely delicious food, fantastic flavours. Some of the best food I have ever tasted.
M.
Great place with a large open main area, and restaurant that stretches to the back. Good selection of beers and in a nice quiet residential area.
T. M.
Even if you're not a vegetarian, eat one of the signature dishes. It's a vegetarian restaurant. Eat something vegetarian. Imagine drinking wine in Dublin!
P. N.
Great range of craft beers. Lovely little outside area perfect when the suns out.
S. M.
100% vegetarian pub showcasing the seasonal vegetables of Riverford Farms with a delicious changing seasonal menu.

All organic gastro-pub. Interesting menu, but portions rather ungenerous.

The Cheers of Battersea. Come here and make friends over a pint of Meantime or Doombar. The friendly bar staff will make you feel right at home.

We had the perfect afternoon. We were a larger group with children, which I would recommend the larger back (and out of the way!) corner table. The staff were incredible, perfect service. The food is one of the best roast dinners around. And just love the atmosphere of the pub overall. Highly recommend.

(Translated) Full restaurant for us (remember to book) but the pub offers its tables as they are released. After the possibly long installation, then the wait is very well rewarded. Generous plate, simple and honest tastes (mackerel superb, crab gratin and cuttlefish really delicious). Wine to discover, beers and ciders for all tastes. A warm atmosphere A must, and organic.

Restaurant complet pour nous (pensez a reserver) mais le pub offre ses tables au fur et à mesure qu'elles se libèrent. Passée l installation possiblement longue, alors l attente est très bien récompensée.
