Reviews of The Duke of York
C. E.
Pleasant place, busy on a Friday night, took a while to get seated. Staff were great, polite and quick to serve drinks. It's next to a theatre so if you time it right it may be emptier all of a sudden! It's a bit further removed from Victoria train station so you have more of a chance of spending an evening here then pubs closer to the station.

Right next to the Victoria Palace Theatre and 300 meters from Victoria Station, the Duke of York is a great spot for food and drinks in the area. Spread across two floors it takes food seriously with a full menu and dedicated restaurant area. My favourite room is at the end of the second floor, featuring shelves filled with books, small tables and a large fireplace. A reliable wifi connection is lacking so keep that in mind when visiting. The staff is friendly, chatty and helpful. Opening hours are 12PM to 11PM.

First of all, very clean, nice and cosy pub. Wonderful layout with a traditional but modern vibe. The books and the fireplace are the cherry on top. Really appreciate the idea of digital detox ( staying on the phone not really allowed)
The staff is amazing, helpful and fun. Really had a good time with my friends.
I'd recommend it anytime to everybody especially the chess players .

Nice Samuel Smith pub opposite Victoria station. Great beer and friendly staff.

Nice pub located a very short walk from Victoria station. This pub does not offer the usual beers your likely used to (Peroni, Heineken, Amstel, etc) so be prepared to experience some new beers which are very tasty.
This pub has outdoor seating both in front (Victoria Street) and on the side for those nice warm weather days. There is some construction happening which is a bit of an eye sore but the beers are tasty so it's not a big deal.
Pro tip: this is a dog friendly pub so bring your four-legged buddies too!

Fantastic place.
Immaculately clean and extremely friendly.
All beer is kept extremely well and the food is delicious.
Very much a theatre go-ers pub as situated right next door to the Victoria Palace. Give yourselves plenty of time if dining as the staff get extremely busy and work very hard to meet everyones needs and keep everyone happy.
They do an amazing job.
Thank you for a great night 🍻🍻

Right next to the New Victoria Theatre so it gets busy just before performances.
I tried a few different Samuel Smith beers including an apricot fruit beer. The menu looked a bit uninspiring so we left early and had a pizza at Pizza Pilgrims

Had a very good lunch in the rather ritzy upstairs eating area - fire, bookcases, good pictures on the wall, excellent beer - all in all a first rate pub.

Very nice interior and great food portion. Would come back whenever I visit London. Good experience for foreigners who want a traditional pub experience!

Lovely place, great beer, not so expensive compared to other pubs in London. Loves the atmosphere. Recommend the fish and chips plate.

Nice pub to wait our train at Victoria Station.
Service is okay. And it is a warm place. I recommand (But I did not already try the food, Next Time ! ☺️)

This ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ are for the original, the old Duke of York.
I used to work there 2007-2012 with the most amazing people and Management.
I used to live upstairs and I've got married, it was a Dream place.
I miss those days 😊

Cozy atmosphere with friendly and accommodating staff. One of the bartenders, Octavian, went above and beyond to help.

Beautiful pub. Love the traditional decor, especially upstairs. Difficult time during covid i know but it did take quite a while to get served. However the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially in noticing that my family member would need the lift and opened it up for us.
Despite the wait for service the lady who served us was really friendly and helpful. I had a nice pint of ale which was in good condition. Not all beer on the menu was available but I was extremely happy with what I had.
The food I ordered was steak and kidney pie. It was really presentable and looked nice. Initially I thought it wasn't much, but it was rather like Dr Who's tardis. The pie was packed full of meat and was absolutely lovely. In the end the meal filled me up nicely but not too much that I was too bloated. First rate pub food in my opinion.
I would certainly add this pub the the pubs to visit in London. Very pleasurable experience. I'd certainly go back.

Sam Smith pub with outside seating near to Victoria palace theatre.

Enjoyed some fish and chips in this place. Found a nice table in the corner near upstairs beside the books shelves and fire place.

A beautiful pub with lovely staff who clearly care about the place they work - and nice fresh food at a non-London price! Will definitely revisit next time I'm at Victoria!

This is a nice pub just next to Victoria Station. Although it is a chain (Sam Smith's), they keep the place in its old-style decor with wood panels and many little rooms, nooks and crannies. Sam Smiths' does its own beer but it's generally good. The place does food but I did not try it - Seems like standard pub fare.
B. A.
Typical London pub with nice beers. Not very festive though.

Sam Smith pubs are always a place where you can enjoy a good pint! Would definitely recommend the Double 4.
Had the opportunity to chat with the managers and they are fascinating people!
Definitely recommend

Great old school pub.
The ambience is great! The staff are knowledgeable around their products. The anti-social media vibe really sets the place off, I would heartily recommend a visit if you're in the area, especially after flight club.

Nice Pub. No affiliation to the disgusting associations and affiliated accusations laid at the feet of Prince Andrew as far as I am aware.

Fabulous pub, great food and drink. Popped in to shelter from the rain and ended up staying to eat. The refurb is very impressive, everything clean and fresh. Friendly staff

Lovely wooden decor, with a wide selection of beers available. Lovely pub atmosphere, thanks to the wonderful couple of managers. 5 stars!

Very affordable - as is typical for a Sam Smith. Lovely decor and, whilst obviously not original, still conjures up a Victorian feel.
I've walked passed this place so many times, glad I went in.

I have had a wonderful anniversary spent here with my colleagues and close ones !
The staff was very friendly and and made sure that the service was flawless.
Thank you for a great experience ! My boyfriend was also impressed ! See you next time !

A 'digital detox pub that promotes the use of something called "conversation". And encourages phones and laptops to be put away. Madness if you ask me. Nice thought though and I thoroughly enjoyed the place.Great service. Hats off to the bar keep. Thanks.
J. F. M.
Great beer, and good fish and chips
M. E.
Not very crowded, perfect for conversation! Samuel Smith beer served here.

Really nice inside and bar staff were friendly. Would recommend for the first or last place to get a pint before getting the train home.

Nice location, the food was great, we didn't have to wait long. Also, great staff. I had a problem with another customer and the manager was great at controlling the argument.

Had an excellent meal yesterday staff helpful and friendly, good service

Of the cheapest and best pubs in the area, I think this pub has recently been renovated as everything feels new, this is a Sam Smith's pub so phones are banned, which brings a good vibe to the pub, and the drinks are super cheap but super good
R. J.
Nice pub, nice friendly staff.
C. K.
Had the best beer I have ever tasted. Very classy and lovely location but sadly the staff were very rude.
J. D.
Nice enough toilets. Poor toilet paper does not complement the decor. Otherwise they are quite functional and do the job.
K. ™.
A great affordable pub which in a sense is the purest form of pub, no phones only good beer and friend to talk to.
N. S.
Only 2 out of the 6 shown real sales available
M. M.
£6.20 for a pint of cider, expensive

Friendly staff, spacious, clean toilets.

Recently refurbished, a nice place.

Nice atmosphere and plenty of space.

Nice pub

Wonderful place to be🍻🍽️

Nice big portions, and good quality of beers but it's a bit annoying to rush you because they close the second floor ( only in that floor you can eat ) so early. And it's not only that they don't serve food cos the kitchen is closed ( that would be totally fine) they ask you to go downstairs (where is probably full and you squeeze with the crowd) or leave.

Best bbq sandwich ever and perfect staff

(Translated) I visited for lunch with my family. At first I went to a nearby pub called Albert, but it was said that it would take 40 minutes for the meal to come out, so I changed my schedule because the response was not good enough. I walked to the bus stop at the station and entered here. The staff were all very Freddie in a calm atmosphere. He was with children, but received a very pleasant reception without a disgusting face. The meal came out early.

(Translated) A great atmosphere, lovingly furnished in an old English style, super friendly and attentive staff and, above all, very tasty food. :)
