Reviews of The Dundee Arms

Best cheese toastie ever!
Popped in for a quick bite, but there was no food menu available (I believe they didn't have a chef). But were offering toasties... yummy yummy, highly recommended.
Friendly staff informed me that she use apple cheddar cheese and some other cheese, (sorry can't remember which).
Please don't stop making these...I love them 😍
Grungy, quirky pub, I remember it from years and years ago... local labour party pub then!
P. L. R.
Another solid Bethnal Green pub. Ceiling is a bit too distressed for me, but the drinks are fine and the rest of the decor is nicely done. Enjoyed watching a couple of good ol' boys making the most of their Saturday afternoon pints when I visited.
C. L.
A quiet Saturday lunchtime would have been quieter had West Ham not been entertaining Chelsea on BT Sport. Must have been 7 or 8 customers watching the game taking place just a couple of miles away.
The pub seems quite dilapidated but not without charm. Almost feels like it was abandoned for 20 years and someone found the key and opened up.
The keyholders seemed to be two young hipster types, friendly and keen to serve.
Without a well kept cask beer on (ELB Foundation) it probably wouldn't have registered more than 2 stars for me but the beer was decent.
A second handpump was serving cider out of a bag but I'm guessing most of their market is for keg craft beer and cheap lager.
They had a variety of cheese-based toasties on offer but I headed off after a couple of pints and a bag of nuts. Televised Premier League football was not enough to keep me sat there any longer.
B.
Popped in for a few social drinks on a weeknight evening, friendly service, nice selection of beers/ales.
G. S.
The IPA is one of the best Pale Ales in London. Deep in the heart of historic East London.
Here is a pub with secreted DJ box. Neon signs point to an upstairs, which probably has it's own secrets.
Great and good furnishings wood flooring and panelled portraits. Lovely....
C. P.
On our way to the Viktor Wynd museum, we stopped here to enjoy a coffee (what a strange idea we had). The staff was very nice and friendly, we got our drinks seating in the main room, watching the old ceiling, the paintings hanging on the walls. We didn't try the beers (had too many before) but they have at least 3 craft beers at the bar.
V. T.
My son brought me here when I was visiting him in London. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere, friendly and polite bar staff and reasonably priced drinks. Well worth a visit.
D. J. B.
Cool venue.was there for pre drinks so didn't experience the whole night but there were a couple of DJs getting a nice vibe going. It's on the list for a re visit.
L. W.
Love this pub.
Our old local boozer for the past 5 years or so. Good to be back. Beer and staff as sound as ever, one of them is in this picture actually. Although unfortunately my camera only focuses on the most important aspects it sees... Big up the Dundee
p. s.
Pre club drinks was a fantastic idea what a great little place with good live dj 😀 superb
R. K.
Nice remodel. Decent beer. Friendly staff. Miss the old place but to be fair... the new Dundee is clearly an upgrade. I'm just nostalgic
P. G.
Great selection of beer on tap, friendly staff and a good vibe.
B. F.
Had my phone stolen by scooter lads late at night. The team let me come in and use their wifi to contact people and mark my phone as lost. Super grateful for how kind and understanding they were. Will be back in happier times.
A. R.
very good experience bar staff polite and friendly and quick service what's not too like. And the music was great , well worth a visit.
W. P.
Good pub, great staff. Would give 5 stars if there was more cask ale on offer.

❤️ There are so many good pubs around Bethnal Green and The Dundee Arms holds its own. There’s a nice feel about the place, the service was good and there is a good selection of beers to be had. The pub has a small courtyard out the back and even has a barbers upstairs. This is a tidy east end boozer well worth a visit.
📊 Information correct on visiting 13/10/17

Amazing staff, great and affordable sour beer, highly recommended 👍
G. G.

J. W.
Amazing bar staff they even made me a lemsip while drinking my beer at 10:53 ;)
G. L.
Nice beers, relaxed old school ambience. little bit on expensive side
N. N.
Great atmosphere..good beer..nice staff
c. c.
Had a few beers with the girls Sunday, enjoyed the pub live sport great. Thanks
J. K.
A great pub just a short walk from Bethnal Green tube station .. With a nice selection of real ale available
D. B.
This turned out to be a gem. I was looking for somewhere to eat but failed, and had already walked past the pub. It looked inviting and it was. I was alone, sat at the bar and ordered a pint of Neck Oil. It was very good.
It turns out that they do food but, in a stroke of genius, only one thing. It was a cheese toastie with spring onions and truffle oil and it was fantastic. At £5 it was a bargain as well.
The beer wasn't super cheap (£5.80 a pint) but that could be my fault for liking things like Neck Oil. I'm guessing that other offerings were cheaper.
I ended up talking on the phone to my wife for a very long time, and every time my pint glass was empty it was promptly filled up, my card was swiped using the contactless and I carried on. By the end of the call with my wife I was quite drunk and very content. What a place. Great beer, great service, best food menu ever (I like it simple!).
There is an outdoor space at the back as well but I didn't go. It looked nice from the bar though.
O. A.
Decent bar with a great range of bar snacks and drink options.
Great location and a little smoking area out back.
Football available at the weekend.
Only knocking a star off as it seems to take a while to get served (when it's quiet)
N. H.
An acceptable pub. No particular ambiance. There are TVs showing the sport.
D. D.
Good, if somewhat trendy, pub. Nice selection of bottled and tap beers and ales. Good screens for football and good music in the evenings. Down side? It doesn't really cater to locals, but perhaps that's a positive thing.
E. R.
Amazing staff, it's got that, falling apart quirky charm (?) exactly the place you want to perch for a beer in any weather
T. R.
Good boozer with a great selection of beers. DJs play on Fridays and Saturdays so there's usually a good crowd. Small seating area outside out the back and nice in the summer to sit at the big open windows at the front.
K. P.
Actually a great pub, music selection is decent and not cheese, drinks are nice (no food), staff are friendly and the smoking area is large and generally covered over.
A. S.
Great pub to go and chill with friends. The atmosphere was fun. Drink prices were very reasonable. Had some great music playing in the background. All and all an enjoyable place to have a few drinks.
H. C.
Great selection of beers and spirits. Also a fantastic place to watch football matches. Nice little beer garden at the back. Just a few meters away from Bethnal Green station.
M. N.
First time I'd been here, was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of craft beers/ales they had available, in addition to this the bar staff were helpful and polite. Definitely somewhere I'll be adding to my list of "great pubs in London".
B. L.
Great bethnal green boozer, staff are great and always seem to be enjoying a more social vibe with their customers. Small beer garden out the back but when the sun is out this is pleasant enough to enjoy a beer or three in.
Food wise, it's toasties and pub snacks, but you can always pop round the corner for several nice restaurants if you are in need of a proper meal.
Keep serving five points IPA and I will keep coming back 😂
J. H.
Nice pub. Good atmosphere but not crazy busy on a Friday night. Good little smoking terrace out the back. Convenient location between paradise row and Satan's whiskers.
A. M.
Lovely staff and drinks.
D. B.
Was there on a Saturday night. Friendly service and groovy beats. Good-looking humans. I liked the decor though the ceiling really needs to be fixed up. I'd happily return.
N. D.
The amber light is just right. The beer is just right. The football screenings are just right - there aren’t quite enough seats, but there never are, and the atmosphere is strong. Afterwards it morphs back into a good pub again. Solid.
A.
Nice pub and vibe, friendly locals. One of the bar staff looked like he'd just been told he's been sacked. Other than that I would definitely go again.
G. C.
Good and unique selection of beers in a rustic pub. The staff were fantastic and the service was on point. The grilled cheese toastie is made with emmental cheese, smoked applewood bacon, spring onions and truffle oil on sourdough bread. Needless to say, it's not your average grilled cheese. It was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately this their only food option as they don't have a kitchen. That said, it's definitely a tasty snack. If you're in the area of Bethnal Green, make this a stop and you won't regret it.
m. c.
This is a strange (nice) little pub, with mostly friendly locals. The Guinness is good, & it shows GAA fixtures. Can be a vloume clash when the soccer season is running. It does both at once! Clientele ranges from pretentious hipsters to honest labourers who happily mingle amicably. The owner & staff always thank customers for their patron. I like it for sports viewing, but wouldn't fancy it as a regular local, or the occasional drink. That's just my taste.
R. D.
Is a big pub near Bethnal Green Station, it is open until later than the rest of pubs around. It has several draft and cask taps, plus a good choice of cans and bottles. It has a cocktaiks and wine. Decoration is in the hípster side. Beer garden is decent enough but not massive, there is also plenty of sitting spaces inside.
Is not the cheapest but it's prices are reasonable for the kind of pub it is.
A. W.
Great bar. Amazing star and atmosphere
J. B.
Super friendly staff, decent beer selection, good covid procedure, prices a little bit too high imo
S. N.
Great little pub, nice outdoor space. Not much of a selection on tap but a really good range of cans and bottles. Gets really busy on the weekend.
D.
Great selection of drinks, good music, also has football on which is a plus in London. Enough seating, slight issue with the bar being crowded, but service is always quick. Has nah upstairs barber if thats your sort of thing. Maybe avoid when a boxing event is on at York Hall.
G. R.
I called in for a quiet pint on a Sunday afternoon. There was a decent choice of beers. Staff were friendly. I imagine it would be a good spot on a Saturday night.
S. L.
One of the best pubs in East London. Atmosphere always relaxed and fun with good service.
G. S.
Ok, a bit expensive, just another stripped back trendy pub. Decently kept beer, lots of choice for trendy beers and lagers. Ok. Not a patch on the old Dundee Arms but then I'm an old git.
J. L.
If you like good lookin' people, alternative music, rotating craft beers and friendly locals then look no further! One of my favourite pubs in London!
M. C.
Lovely place and great service and atmosphere
A.
We were running late,..everywhere was shutting down ! ,we were in big trouble ! Then a local freak said your last chance is The Dundee Arms ! We were saved !...What a great boozer ! Excellent beer and friendly service.
R. G.
Went there when the foo took over the place it was great
E. D.
It's a cool bar but the music is so loud way too early! So even if there only a few people sitting chatting in the bar you have to shout over each other!!
K. C.
It's a bit drab, but £3.50 for a Guinness is not to be sniffed at. It's unpretentious, and there's Irish trad music in the corner every now and then if you can catch it. Solid.
N. I.
Good, late night pub in Bethnal Green. Mix of rap and R&B post boxing at York Hall. Definitely worth a pint or two.
s. h.
To call this a "good old fashioned boozer" would do the place discredit, its that and soon much more, the moment you walk in it feels like your local, great beers, amazing staff warm, cozy and so much more
D. S.
Great little pub, nice beers and really nice bar staff. So welcoming and friendly, like having drinks with mates
P. R.
Thoroughly revamped April 2015. Promising start - opened up the front on a sunny day for an airy feel, great beer, big HD Sky screen.
N. M.
Great little pub that shows the sports. Nice back area. Drinks can be a bit expensive, and they serve toasties at the weekends which means the smell isn't great
G. L.
Excellent cocktails, staff really making the effort; interesting decor, cool place to be. "I'll be back" highly recommended 👍
T. S.
The generous selection of beers might lure you in, but the lack of air condition and way too loud music will make you want to leave. Worth a visit, but won't go again.
L. S.
It was a Sunday. But loads draught stuff unavailable. Toastie were good. As was mulled wine. Just the beer let it down.
O. P.
Good pub for a night out that offers music as well as all around good drinks and enough seating space for the ones that need some place to talk for a bit.
M. P.
Nice cosy pub with a good selection of beers, a range of toasties that they make for you a the bar, and some cocktails including a great looking Bloody Mary.
T. C.
Been in here way to many times and that aint even a good thing... bit hit n miss but last time was pretty decent, drinks can be a bit pricey 👎🏻
S. S.
Standard pub. Don't remember anything standing out other than it having a few flies. Although it was rather hot that day.
Bonus that pretty much the whole of the front opens up
K. R.
Best choice around Bethnal Green for sky/BT football and post a hipster remake, a very pleasant and stylish spot. Sunday menu had one item: cheese and spring onion toaster. enough...
M. S.
Decent pub with tiny beer garden in the back. Good selection of drinks.
B. R.
Wide selection of craft beers and nice interior
M. A.

E. D.
Great Atmosphere, just what want on a Saturday night before going to the boxing keep up the good work.
K. O.
Great beer & nice enougg pub. Staff aren't very friendly & it's all a bit too hipsterish
A. B.
It's a relaxing place where you can talk to your friends quietly. The lady is lovely and always give us some chips with our drinks.
r. g.
Very nice atmosphere. I often go there during my break in work. Very relaxing place with nice people
P. N.
Ok, but I'd rather go to The Approach Tavern which is 5 minutes walk away. I don't think the barman appreciated being asked to fill our glasses to the top.
D. W.
Excellent little local boozer. Plenty of draft options including IPAs and the more standard largers and guiness
C.
Lovely place to watch the rugby! Barman brutally honest about the Scarlets' chances against Leinster...
A. M. R.
