Reviews of The Eagle Farringdon
S. M.
First gastropub ever and an institution in London! Food was amazing and the attention even better! Go if you have the chance!
T. E.
Great atmosphere here, and the staff were super lovely, but the steak sandwich was terrible. Had heard good things about it so 4 of us ordered it, but all 4 were super tough and chewy and more of a chore to eat than a pleasure. We all ended up using a knife and fork to try to get through them because they were so tough. Photos of the dish from other reviewers look like much thicker cuts of meat so I'm assuming ours weren't up to their usual standard, but I definitely wouldn't order one again if that's not the case. Would come back for something else though, since the pub and staff were great.
S. L.
Excellent gastro pub with down to earth feel and up there food at reasonable prices. Really great imaginative dishes. Amazing sourdough bread.
E. G.
Ate a fantastic meal here, never know what to expect as the menu changes very very often day to day, but expect a good mix of flavours to choose from! The room is small and can get busy in the evenings so expect it to be loud and a bit cramped - not in a bad way if you enjoy the atmosphere! But perhaps not one for a quiet meal and a chat.
I. D.
You will not be disappointed by the food; open kitchen alongside the bar. Worth a visit but reserve a table for the evening slot.
S. J.
This is a really nice pub. Only 4 stars as my hake was a bit bland. Although the meals that others ordered looked superior, so may have just been a poor choice.
J. N.
So good! The food, drinks, service, atmosphere are all fantastic. Changing menu but some favourites (like the steak sandwich) are frequent features. My favourite spot for a bite in the area.
R. P.
Wow, the food was wonderful. Spanish dishes in a traditional London pub. Order at the bar. Went on a Tuesday and the place was heaving.
l.
One of the best gastropub around London. Very nice food, prepared in the open kitchen just in front of you. Food it's very tasty, high quality. As a pub, good selection of beers and wines which are affordable and good . Head there around 12pm if you want to have lunch / brunch otherwise be prepared to wait!
R. H. G.
Big old fashioned pub with lively lunchtime crowd. Man sized steak sandwich and other meals available, check the blackboard. Well stocked bar.
C. h.
Stunning pub, great food. Had the pork belly and was very impressed. My vegetarian friend also very much enjoyed his dish
G. R.
One of the few traditional gastro pubs in the area. Beers and wine selection is very good, the food extremely tasty. Portions are huge, steak sandwich is its most popular dish but the menu is constantly updated and varied. Too much garlic and a bit oily to my taste. Will definitely go back for the exquisite atmosphere
J. M.
Great GastroPubs Batman!
Recommended by a friend to try this and saw it had great reviews on Trio Advisor and we were not disappointed!
Our party had a Pescatarian and a Vegetarian as well as us cannibals but for a relatively small menu there was still plenty of choice. The food was fresh, really tasty and with the open kitchen you could see exactly how it was cooked.
Brilliant selection of beers and wines and for the first time ever I was refused a pint of Leffe Blonde - because it's too strong! Had two halves instead to make up for it :)
Fantastic, friendly staff round off this wonderful venue - Try it - you won't be disappointed.
L. V.
The menu changes often here so there's no staple dish but I love that. On my visit, we tried the fish, chorizo paste on bread and the steak burger. The fish was delicious and cooked just right. We also loved the chorizo paste on the bread. My partner didn't enjoy his steak burger as it was a bit dry and they didn't offer any sauces to go with it even when we asked. It's one of this 'posh' places that don't offer ketchup. Apart from that, it was good vibes inside with a buzz from people chatting.
M. S.
Came here for a work lunch and was just a place we choose when walking by.
Outside didn’t think much of it but when inside you see how good it is.
Clean surroundings, friendly staff and good food. Worth a try if in Farringdon any time
I. S.
Great place for a real pub experience, the steak sandwich is delicious, the Portuguese custard tart for desert is very good as well.
R. B.
The style feels like you're visiting your old aunt or something. I like the fact that the plates are all different and have an old style.
The food is very nice and the portions generous for the price. And the Portuguese desserts were great!
T. R.
Excellent atmosphere. Food really good...famous steak sandwich didn't disappoint
R. M.
Excellent Sunday lunch venue. Wholesome food with great flavour. Friendly and fun atmosphere.
P. P.
The best spot for a casual catch up with a friend. Order the jamón as a must and then anything that takes your fancy from the menu.

2017:
Just incredible
Best pub this side of Pluto
Food and beverage top notch
2020:
I’ve actually been coming here since 2013! It’s still lit! Even though I’m now too old to say lit!
Food out of this world! And the service is even better!
A. O.
Wonderful food in the mother of all gastro pubs. Our delicious food was made by the equally delicious Ivan Chambers and with a main course costing just over £10 you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget the amazing art gallery on the first floor!
D. J.
Recently had the most delicious swordfish, if you see it in the menu, don't miss it! I'm told this is the first gastropub in London! There are several delicious dishes I often have if I'm lucky as menu changes every day! My only problem is salad, I wish they did a side salad! I'm often envious of the giant salad staff make for themselves for lunch!!
V. R.
Consistently excellent, I was a bit worried coming here knowing how busy it can get, but it's very comfortable in a new spaced-out layout - even on the last day of EOTHO was comfy and well managed. Thank you Eagle. (Please restock the Kirin)
n. h.
Visited a couple times during lunch hours, the food was great and portions were generous!
R. W.
An institution in London at this stage. Great food, a great buzz and an excellent team that keep pumping their passion into this place. 10/10
陈.
The beef steak sandwich is amazing, you cannot miss it! The beer called Eagle is needed to try as well. The pub will be super busy in the evening, so you need to go early or you may not find a seat.
i. d.
Amazing food, very friendly staff and great atmosphere. A must-try if you are in the area.
M. G.
Great food! The chef was very nice and close. He made sure everything was good and in time! Bartenders a bit slow but I will definetly come back.
N. S.
The Eagle's "bifanas" (steak sandwiches) are a legend. Half of the people orders them. In fact all food is great and portions are generous. No table service nor reservations, and if you're a couple sitting in a big table, you'll be asked to share. Service is correct and swift, which is great.
A. R.
Great pub with good food. Had a steak sandwich which was too salty and a bit hard to digest... felt heartburn for the following 2 days
J. R.
Fantastic food! Had the oxtail ragu with paperdelle! Delicious!
C. H.
Easy going relaxed atmosphere with good food and a selection of beers (plus wines)
R. C.
Favourite restaurant in London. Never disappoints.
D. R.
The best gastropub in London. We always come here hungry and are welcomed like family. We always leave full, smiling, and having eaten many things that were absolutely delicious. The seasonally adjusted menu is the perfect way to delivery fresh and quality dishes and the chefs' creations have a way of comforting your body and soul.
L. N.
Fantastic tasty, hearty food with very quick service. A true gastropub with a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend!
D. K.
Food wasnt very nice. I have asked for ketchup or any sauce but been refused with an answer "we dont do any sauce" food was very dry. Toilets ( ladies) horrible!!!
Nice selection of beers
S. G.
Great food and atmosphere
H. C.
I live in SW London, only have been here twice, but this place is my favorite of all restaurants I’ve tried here so far. Their kitchen is simply the best!
M. C.
Brilliant concept, great ingredients cooked well.
A. P.
Went for Friday night dinner, the staff were super helpful finding me a table for 2 (worth reserving in advance).
Food wasbwas great as ever. The pork belly was the best I've ever had. Great soft pork with a crunch crackling and sizeable portion. Always good food
L. K.
Clearly an excellent pub, but I was slightly disappointed with the vegetarian options when I visited.
T.
One of London's finest casual dining experiences. I have never been let down with flavour, service or atmosphere. A place to talk, date, gather or read alone and all the while being under the spell of the wonderful scents from the open kitchen.
R. P.
The original gastropub and still one of the very best for food.
D. L.
London's first gastropub never fails to impress. Great food and relaxed atmosphere.
J. I.
Great pub with amazing food highly recommended!
Good choice if beers and spirits. Not cheap but quality is excellent, could provide better seating arrangements but could argue the old fashioned and slightly rugged experience is part of the charm of the pub! Steak sandwich is more than excellent 10/10 food!
l. a.
BEST FOOD IN LONDON, amazingly well priced wine and very friendly team. Love it there.
C. J.
I had the best steak sandwich I've ever had here last night. It was in a hot marinate and the meat was delicious. The pub itself is small and basic but lively and serves decent beers. Marked down one star only because it can a bit of hassle getting served at the bar when it's too busy - more bar staff would have helped.
J. W. -. G.
Unexpectedly brilliant food in what looks like an unsuspecting boozer.
M. T.
Came for lunch and had a few drinks. Which I believe is the best way to do it. The beer selection is OK. A few real ale taps, a couple lagers, a craft beer and Guinness. Lucky for me in a fan of Red Stripe so wasn't hard to chose. The wine selection looked good but I didn't partake.
The food selection was written on chalkboards, fresh daily. I had the merguez sausage with hummus and red onion. It was fantastic. Well balanced and delicious. My friend had the skate with potatoes and aioli. I'm not a fan of skate but he tucked on and thoroughly enjoyed. All the food sounded good and I'll definitely be back to eat again.
M. G. L.
Best food in this part of London. Amazing lamb tagine and haddock Persian style. Also the tomato soup and the bread. Don’t miss this place - fully recommended for a healthy and heart nutritious meal. Also outside seating. And a good selection of craft beers also. Will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
E. G.
Really very nice food. I tried the marinated rump steak and it was delicious.
J. C.
Great food. Small menu but done well. Okay service. Small beer selection, limited craft beer
M. O. L.
Love the steak sandwich here. It's a bit over priced but worth to have one sometimes.
They offer other food but never tried them. They look as good as the steak sandwich though.
Beers price are standard but not many offering.
Use to be busy at lunch time, so plan in advance if you want one of those sandwiches !
E. O.
Friendly staff, decent beer selection and the steak sandwiches are delicious!
A. L.
These guys know what they are doing.
There is some sort of honest and beautiful atmosphere on this place...
Go there, sit down, get some drinks and some food and you'll get it.
S. J. A.
Best steak sandwich in the city.
小.
Stake is the most famous but sea bass was so good. It is similar to Japanese bake fish style.
O. K. (.
Love it for being a pub that serves food rather than a restaurant that poses as a pub - big difference! My local and also a great place to meet friends. And still going strong despite the reduced seating.
D. A.
I am not sure why steak sandwiches are not listed on the google suggested dishes since in my humble opinion here you get the best steak sandwiches in town. Also, the atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. I love it here.
H. N.
Relaxed, pub-like restaurant serving a small selection of very good food. The service definitely leaves something to be desired, quite apathetic in general, smiles are VERY hard to come by if ever, all staff in there appear to be quite nonchalant and really let the place down. More friendly service and it would be a winner but they really don't seem to care much for the punters. Food just about makes it worth a visit though.
Z. H.
What seems like an ordinary pub is transformed at The Eagle. The dark interiors, the kitchen behind the bar, grills of juicy steaks on display and the blackboard menu make this one to not miss out on. The bar area just smells absolutely amazing but the main attraction is the legendary steak sandwich there. It's thin slices of steak in a pepper broth seared perfectly. Be warned, at 11 pounds a sandwich excluding sides, it's not a cheap sandwich and during busy times, as it's the most popular item, you can be waiting a while. Half an hour in my case.
R. L.
If judging only on the food, this place is fantastic. Fresh food from the local market and a menu that changes daily depending on what they can source. The pub itself has a slightly run down, but homely feel and the service is good, but not table service. The Eagle keeps things simple and that's what is so charming about it.
I. M.
If you are looking for a great steak sandwich, friendly environment and great beer, you are landed in the right place.
K. S.
Great food .... Fresh menu every day .... Needless to recommend ... It sells itself 👏👏👏I would almost forget .... another 30 years ..... 🎉🎉🎉
P. P.
An old fashioned pub/saloon bar. Menu looks to change every day and is chalked up behind the bar.
The minimum bar charge of £5 is a little old-fashioned.
Staff pleasant. Kitchen is to the side of the dining/drinking area so you can watch your lunch/supper being cooked if that's your fancy.
D. B.
Lovely place and food, good beer. Pretty nice pub
T. W.
London's original gastropub, this place has a fantastic casual atmosphere. No bookings, its a case finding a free table and pulling up some chairs. Half of the old bar has been converted into the kitchen, the menu on chalk board above and you get all the sights and smells before your food even arrives.
The food and drink are very reasonably priced & the staff were very down to earth, friendly & helpful. Would recommend this place for a casual evening and good slap up food with friends.
S. S.
You don’t often go to a pub and comment on how nice everyone was - The Eagle is a rare gem where staff and patrons alike are exceedingly kind and convivial. This really shouldn’t be the case when people are effectively competing for limited seating! Somehow The Eagle pulls it off (and the food and drink are top notch in case you were wondering, was too tasty to stop and take a picture)🔝🔝🔝
A. W.
Good food, friendly staff. Had a delicious roasted chicken with rosemary.
J. G.
Cool little pub! The kitchen is inside the pub, producing amazinging meals!
M. S.
I love the Eagle. My family and I have visited many times over the years, for their exceptional food, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty, as it were, it's a perfect place to visit on a lazy Sunday afternoon. A casual and relaxing venue, prices are great and portions satisfying.
Definitly worth a visit if you are in the area.
I. R.
Trendy pub in Farringdon. Had the rump steak sandwich, which is huge (could not finish) and a nice pint. The food was good quality, but very rudimental, maybe there could have been a slice of tomato or something green added at least for visuals :)
Kids liked the place, and they got free pasta plates from the kitchen.
Service was relaxed but spot on. Prices a bit elevated.
N. H.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! It is the most amazing gastro pub that I have ever been too. I have never been disappointed with my lunch time visits and the food is always superb. The steak sandwich is so juicy and tasty, you can never go wrong with choosing it!
B. C.
A truly fantastic pub if you want to eat as well as drink. It's noisy, chaotic, over crowded and has on and off attitude - which all add up to make it a really "proper pub". The steak sandwich is great... But so is the rest of the menu so try it all.
M. F.
Great gastro pub. Nice food, beer and wine selection.
A. K.
Happened to wander in here for a lunch with colleagues. The service is pretty attentive.
The steak sandwich is what we came for.
And it is worth it. 2-3 steaks, cooked so that they are juicy. If you are lucky enough to have had 3 steaks the bun not quite be big enough to handle it.
But lovely all the same.
T.
Amazing food with the friendliest staff and customers.
A. H.
The pork belly, cannelini beans with salsa verde - wow 👌
D. P.
I know you can just go and say place X has the best Y in town. But after 3 years of searching for a best steak sandwich in London I still go back to The Eagle. Hands up the best. And it doesn't stop there. Beer selection, staff and most definitely the rest of their served food is amazing.
J. T.
Despite it's Bohemian tattiness, the food as ever is excellent with a range of extraordinary recipes that don't remotely resemble normal pub food. Good wine and beers too. No reservations but don't let that put you off!
P. P.
One of the best kept secrets in London. Has been going consistently for years without a drop in quality. Somewhere between haute cuisine packed with flavours and generosity and a warm and lively family meal. Never disappoints. Steack sandwich is a must have.
O. B.
Great gastropub. If you like meat their steak sandwich is amazing. Full of flavour and really good taste, highly recommend. They don't take bookings unless you're a big group but worth waiting.
D. M.
Fantastic steak sandwiches. Probably the best in this part of London. The place is really popular, and of course, it gets busy almost every night of the week. The staff is friendly and definitely know how to make your stay enjoyable.
T. H.
I hadn't been to the Eagle for a while but I'm pleased to say they still serve excellent, reasonably priced food. I had the lentil soup follows by the burata. The latter in particular was bursting with flavour - it was a lot better than much of the burata I had on and around Sicily. Only thing to bear in mind is the atmosphere is lively and buzzy and the tables are packed in pretty close. So not really somewhere for a quiet drink!
J. H.
The best restaurant in London for me! The steak sandwich with red wine and olives as a starter is my go to. Definitely a place to bring friends if you want a great gastro pub experience!
M. S.
Really great food. Gets very busy so bare this in mind when going. If you want to guarantee a table then aim to go early or late. Be mindful that it’s a laid back eating environment, for example order and pay at the bar, and mix or chairs/tables.
L. G.
Famous for kickstarting the gastopub trend, and the steak sandwiches are great for sure, but it's always ridiculously busy at lunchtime and the service is infamously bad, just read the other reviews for a sample of how brusque it can be. Business and popularity are no excuse for letting quality service and politeness lapse.
m. c.
When you see that a rather innocuous pub has its own cook book, your expectations for grub are heightened and the eagle really does not dissapoint. The food, steak sandwhich in particular, really is fantastic and the beers are varied and well kept. Worth a visit if you're in the area
G. M. G.
I've had food here twice now and its fast becoming one of my favourite places to eat. The food is amazing without being pretentious and the staff is lovely. Highly recommend!
G. M.
The steak sandwich at The Eagle deserves its reputation. The experience was only enhanced by witnessing my lovely recently vegetarian friend Eoin faint into his plate of Moroccan Lentil soup. The Moroccan Lentil soup here is amazing.
D. D.
Overall, pretty good. Reasonably priced, too. Bit of an issue with the steak sandwich though, tough as old boots and heavy on the chili. But would definitely go again.
D. C.
The food is excellent and actually is worth making a journey specifically here for. The staff weren't rude as such, but were functional and grumpy. A bit more cheerful/less actively hostile and they'd get five stars. Food was delicious but delivered with a scowl.
J. M.
Still my favourite place to eat in London - the original gastropub.
Amazing food and atmosphere.
I ate here solo several nights a week for about 6 months when I was working in Farringdon and I still eat here at every opportunity.
Good value food and excellent wine.
D. C.
Gastropub, good beers, awesome laid back vibe. Food is great. Favorite lunch/dinner spot in clerkenwell.
One of the best gastro pubs I have ever been to. When I have friends in town I take them to the eagle. Great food, fine selection of drinks and an amazing vibe inside. Hard to get a table lunch and dinner time. Don't be put off by the wait, it is worth it. I highly recommend the eagle.
G. B.
Nice pub with good food if you're a meat eater. Could do with a plant based option!
D. C.
The first gastro pub ever - so I am told. And arguably one of the best food joints in London. The cost is reasonable, at around 10 pounds for a full meal, and the beer is just the regular old London price. The decor is interesting - old fashioned and creaky, but it adds to the atmosphere. Staff friendly but always in a rush, but again, the food more than makes up for it.
C. C.
My favourite gastro-pub in the whole of London. Great food, great wines (which I find rare in London pubs) and a decent selection of beers.
Come early if you want a table: it's very popular!
d.
Nice pub for a pint or several this one
D. M. J.
Service is awful but that's part of the appeal. This is no frills dining done to perfection. If you ask for an extra plate or mustard you get a scowl and/or a flat refusal. The food on the other hand is hearty and delicious. Prices are standard for London pubs but the food is way above standard.
K. N.
A firm favourite gastropub, being London's first that started the trend over 25 years ago. The open kitchen allows patrons to watch meals being prepared, including the high flames over the open grill. Whilst The Eagle is well known for its signature steak sandwich, I prefer their dishes from their grill, whether that be grilled whole fish, onglet steak, chicken or sausages. They normally have a pasta dish available which is also a great choice. Coffee is served in traditional Italian style from a macchinetta, making it a great choice after lunch. Vegetarian and dessert options are limited though.
The service is always friendly and the food is always a consistently high standard (I can vouch for that having been a regular for over 8 years). The wine list is always great (including their higher end wine list that was added in recent years), and the beer options are good if you aren't demanding craft beers on tap.
Very popular with the after work crowd during the week, and popular with families on weekends. Well worth a visit or three.
S. C.
Came here for a work lunch and was just a place we choose when walking by.
Outside didn’t think much of it but when inside you see how good it is.
Clean surroundings, friendly staff and good food. Worth a try if in Farringdon any time
d. V. z.
Fantastic gastropub. The food is amazing, simply divine... Staff can be a bit edgy and it will get very busy, in particular on a Sunday around 1 30, but that is no reason to not go.
The pork belly and rock shandy are highly recommended.
J. C.
As always delicious food and wine, and excellent service. Well organised for Covid too so a lot quieter than usual but good gaps between table etc.
O. F.
Great place. Friendly and happy atmosphere.
J. D. K.
I'm a huge fan of the Eagle, which is now in its 25th year of serving excellent Mediterranean-inspired food in a pub setting.
I've eaten so many of their generously stacked steak sandwiches (Bife Ana) that I've lost count, but the other dishes on the menu (changed daily) are usually very tasty too. The piri piri chicken with guacamole is a current favourite.
The beer selection isn't fantastic unfortunately but they do have the odd special that does the job - currently a decent Hackney session ale. But I'll forgive them because the food is reliably delicious!
G. C.
Banker in this area, excellent food that is always spot on. Good selection of beers and wine and a buzzy atmosphere. Some people may be put off as no bookings accepted so may need to share a table or wait. It's worth it!
A. S.
The food is fantastic. I didn't expect a high quality dish but they literary surprised me. One of the places which I strongly recommend. Also, don't miss their American beers.
P. B.
Super friendly staff and fantastic food, would highly recommend.
A. G.
Hands down the best food I have ever had in a pub in that price.
Tried the steak sandwich which was very good , same as the sardines but my top dish were the lamb chops !
G. C.
Lovely pub with genuine local atmosphere. Great chef in the kitchen. Definitely the best pub in that neighbourhood
R. W.
Busy gastro bar. A singular informal open space filled with tables, with the bar and open kitchen down one side. Frequented by a confident self aware affluent younger clientele. A choice of food cooked, assembled and well presented to order. This place hits the sweet spot they were aiming for between restaurant and pub.
S. J.
Best pub food going, steak sarni out of this world, staff should be proud
L. F.
some fried s and I are here last Thursday on a recommend and we were not disappointed! Great atmosphere, great staff and he food was incredible! A really fun experience and exactly what good food in London should be. Could not recommend enough
A. S.
Doing an excellent job during such trying times. Excellent menu, food was lovely. I'll be back!
T. C.
Busy today.. but worth the wait we had Hake, and a cod dish.. lentils and lots.. of garlic. Lovely for us but bad luck for anyone in our air space later. Fantastic and cheap
t. m.
Very delicious food that are reasonably priced, 8-12 quid for a main course, friendly staff and very warm atmosphere make Eagles a great spot for a casual dinner. Their menu changes every day. We had a sea bream that was prepared in a simple sauce of lime and olive oil; very fresh fish and fantastic flavour. Also pasta with partridge, and porcini which was very tasty. For dessert, we got panna cotta with rhubarb, which had a strong sour flavour of rhubarb and I loved it.
O. T. T.
Fantastic food - simple, rustique mediteranian, unpretentious and absolutely delicious. For the quality of food very reasonably priced. Good atmosphere and friendly staff as always. We are regulars and we will be back.
A. M.
Great food, questionable service.
C. L.
I'm giving them 5 stars off the bat for being a gastropub whose kitchen is actually open past 9! They also have a good sense of humor when you're stumbling in famished and near the end of their closing hours. Kitchen closes at 2230, fyi
C. L.
Had a really nice rump steak sandwich here - the Eagle IPA was ok. Would go again no problem but be aware that during lunch hours it can be very busy.
T. K.
Superb gastropub with daily menus and a great selection of drinks. Highly recommended and would visit again. Must have is the beef rump sandwich!
A. M.
Old school authentic feel and a more than decent food menu. Their steak sandwich is particularly good and of mighty proportion.
J. G. R.
If this isn't the best marinated rump steak sandwich you've ever tried, call me and I'm happy to discuss it. They do deserve the gastro-pub name.
K. C.
The best steak sandwich in London.
H. G.
Lively and authentic pub offering British, European and Middle Eastern soul food. Very high and consistent quality at very reasonably prices. Never miss it when in London!
D. S.
Billed a gastro pub, and the food is very good, but even more a great place for a pint with a great selection of beers and a large beer garden. There are many good pubs in the area, but this is one I keep returning to.
O. W.
Stopped by for dinner at 8:30pm on a Monday. Place was bustling, great atmosphere, good music (not too loud) and a delicious plate of food for £11. Unbeatable.
G. L.
Great food and I love the kitchen within the bar area, but perhaps the menu is just too gastro for a light lunch with work colleagues
A. D.
Amazing steak baguette - so much juicy rump steak in a tasty bun. Also enjoyed a couple of pints of Bombardier. Definitely recommend a visit!
S. L.
The food's great, could do with one or two slightly more adventurous beers, but always a great location.
D. D.
It's an OK pub for a drink. I've heard of mixed comments regarding the food, but I have never tried it myself. Also, a little sad a member of the staff didn't know which whiskies they serve; but OK, everyone new can be easily confused at any job.
N. M.
Great food, lively atmosphere and an all round great place to have a pint with your friends. The steak sandwich is a must have.
藻.
Like the atmosphere with mixed generations, different chairs, tables, with good food. Staffs are always friendly. I dont go to pub often but this is one of my favorite ones when I feel like enjoying the cozy pub.
J. L.

P. H.
Delicious steak sandwich with dark, marinated onions that pack a spicy punch. Slightly let down by refusing to serve tomato sauce.
E. L.
Amazing steak, no chips, even ran after me to remind me to take my bag. Lovely people, great atmosphere, takes pub food to a whole new level.

A. G. U.
Fabulous food. The food is always interesting, and usually very good. Occasionally it doesn't work but that is a price worth paying for such adventurous cooking.
A. G. U.
Fantastic rustic flavourful food. I had the mozzarella and aubergine bruschetta and it was the tastiest thing I've eaten in weeks.

Excellent gastro-pub offering great mediterranean food - they serve what is possibly the best steak sandwich in town (Bife Ana) and have a wide range of beers and ales
A. G. U.
Lovely steak sandwiches. If you don't plan to get there early for lunch then you should reserve a table.
A. G. U.
Really superb meal. Exactly what pubs should be serving. It was a but of a wait for a table but just had a pint by a bar and waited no longer than half an hour.
A. G. U.
Called in for Friday lunch, nice choices on the menu just right for lunch time. Fast and friendly service, with good selection of beers
A. G. U.
Still, after all these years, coming up with really distinct, pleasantly surprising flavours like tonight's touch of mirin around the chargrilled bream or the ultra-pea-and-hammy risotto.
S. P.
I haven't tried the food here but the atmosphere is very good and quite relaxed. It smells divine though.
B. M.
Always hospitable and excellent menu. Good value food, and great atmosphere.
S. C.
The roast salmon is really good, enjoyed every bite of it

This is how 'gastropubs' should be. It doesn't matter that the chairs don't match and there are no menus (everything is written up on the blackboard), because the atmosphere, food and service is excellent.
G. K.
Super modern menu
P. C.
Good food, good beer and good service. Recommended.
T. C.
One of, if not the first real gastropub in London where food takes centre stage. Delivers consistently tasty and rustic dishes with a southern European twist
