Reviews of The Earl Derby
J. B.
Been there a few times in the past couple of weeks simply because I couldn’t keep away. Been a while since I’ve been to a pub that offers such great customer service. The manager and the bar staff were so polite from the first time I walked in. 2 great pool tables, friendly regulars, fantastically priced drinks (£2 for a pint of strongbow or coors), and very spacious.
Had a great time doing some Karaoke on Thursday too!
Hopefully they start serving food soon and it’ll be the cherry on the icing on top of the cake.

Epic pub. The bar staff are lovely, Jake is phenomenal. friendly regulars, 2 pool tables, cheap drinks and karaoke. What more could you want

Nice pub. Very sports feel without it feeling like a sport bar. People are nice and friendly. Prices are a deep steep but apart from that it's a nice pub

Amazing service and friendly staff creating a great atmosphere in a beautiful pub. Definetly would recommend and will definetly be returning!

This is primarily a review of the Sunday roast. The service at the Earl Derby, especially since the fairly decent refurb, is always really good - engaging and happy. The food is well priced (just over £10 for a Sunday roast lunch, an tonic water and a latte) and the Sunday roast itself is fine - it's fairly basic (they used to do a cauliflower cheese with it, but no more), but it is tasty and is just enough food to stay nicely full until evening. The atmosphere to the place is okay (tends to have sport on TV, though volume is very low so not distracting if reading or talking) and there's a pool table (£1 a game) and free board games. The toilets are pretty clean too. Overall, worth dropping by for friendly service and a wholesome Sunday roast that doesn't break the bank.

Helpful and friendly staff. 2 for 1 cocktails all day every day which is really great. Cheapest drinks I’ve found in London! They don’t do food but they did allow me to eat my own food in the venue which I think was really nice of them as you don’t get that everywhere.

Best pub in Kilburn.. Quality beer, pool table, live sports... Good mix of people and staff
G. I.
Staff is all right
Local drunks are not nice to tourists
I'm very disappointed

I have been going to the earl of derby for years and it has never been better than since the new manager jack came in. This place has got a whole new personality - its relaxed, cheap drinks and Jack is the friendliest pub manager I’ve ever come across, he really makes you feel welcome in his pub. In the past I would never have recommend this place to my friends but now I always bring my friends and family here. Well done on putting this pub back on the map.

Great pub, great atmosphere and really friendly staff! We're a couple who've just moved to the area and this is our favourite pub, Neil always makes us feel welcome! Food is pretty good and good value too!

Before I start the review, it seems that after reading some other reviews, and how nearly all of them were replied to would mean that they are trying their very best to improve from whatever their last management was.
And it shows! It feels nice, a bit dark but I think that goes well with the theme of dark wooden tables and such. The ceiling is very high with gorgeous lights that make it seem like you're in a victoria style mansion. The food is great and presented very well. The staff are very kind.
Only slight problem I had was that the first drink I got wasn't completely filled to the brim and I have too much anxiety to say anything face to face. It was probably a mistake because the rest of the drinks were perfect.
All in all, its worth a visit as it is located in town and although there isn't free parking, there is parking available next to the pub and is quite cheap.

Been using this place for the past few years but things have improved a fair bit since the new crew took over 6 months ago. Beer is fresh and good value which makes it almost unique on Kilburn High Road. Food is well portioned, good value and filling, it won't be winning a Michelin star anytime soon but it hits the spot. The staff are friendly, efficient and up for banter when time allows.
Golden rules revolve around the bar manager Joe and barman Neil. 1. If you want to play pool, watch football or sing Karaoke buy a drink or Neil won't be happy. 2. Treat the pub like a friend's home or you'll annoy Joe which is not a good idea. 3. Treat the staff and other customers with respect and don't go looking for trouble. Break these rules and you'll be out on your ear and barred in a heartbeat.
If you can get on with these simple rules it's a good place for a few beers. Granted the Joe (especially) and Neil are on the irritable side they're both more than friendly and treat the punters and regulars a lot better than most other places.
Drop in next time you're in Kilburn High Road and see for yourself.

Great pub. Staff great as always.

Big pub with plenty of space. Friendly staff.
We went for a Christmas meal and they were very helpful with dietary needs.
The toilets are downstairs so a bit difficult for those less able or older - there is a RADAR toilet in the main bar though, so you can get the key from a member of staff and avoid the stairs.
There was a Karaoke night when we were there and whist it was fun it didn't really fit a family Christmas meal and I think we would have booked a different night if we'd have known.

Always love coming into the Earl Derby. Good food for a good value. Always enjoy our visit when our favourite bartender is in; a lovely, friendly Irish man, that always has a smile on his face. He's one of the reasons we return every time we visit family in London.

Nice food and good service.
Thanks

I've actually considered moving to Kilburn just so this pub could be my local. I love the chilled out atmosphere and comfy seating. I haven't been disappointed in any of the food I've tried. Good range of beers and wine at reasonable prices. The staff are always really friendly and actually make you feel like they want you there - rare in London pubs! And then there is the music quiz... without a doubt the best I've been to in this country. It's fun and challenging and has a great quiz master. Always a good night at the Earl Derby :-)

Great addition to the Kilburn high road and area and well worth the walk from further afield. Fantastic selection of craft beer that you rarely see this far north and simple but perfectly executed food to match. Easily our new local with all the comfy seats, board games and Lego!
B. C.
Love this pub - nice spacious venue and probably the cheapest drinks you’ll find in the area. Staff are friendly and always willing to help

A great bar. Wonderful bar staff. Thanks guys.

I love this place for a cheap, quiet pint.
A lot of other boozers around these parts can be expensive and slightly upper marker.
Thos does what it says on the tin. Economical and rather pleasant....
Shows football. What else do you need?

A great pub, nice food, good selection of drinks with interesting special offers. Super friendly staff. Warm, comfy and inviting. Definitely our favourite pub in the area by a long way.

The Earl Derby is a nice pub. Worth a try, but don’t expect too much.
After reading good comments and reviews about The Earl Derby on Kilburn High Road, I went there a month after it opened. I was once at the place that was there before, and it was not a pub where I wanted to go again. Clearly, they have put some effort into making The Earl Derby a nice place, and it is much better than the old boozer before. This pub looks nice, classic, with a little bit industrial chic by using special light bulbs. - I am not entirely sure if The Earl Derby is probably not too much gastropub for the area and personally, I think the light bulbs do not really match the general upmarket-oriented design of the place.
That’s the interior, now to the food. I had a chicken dish unfortunately, it was a bit hit and miss. Some bites were cooked to perfection, others a bit over and dry. I liked the very nice and crispy skin. The skinny chips I had on the side tasted good, nothing special, but proper chips without fault.
I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand with my food, and found it a bit too spicy. Overall, the wine reminded me a bit of a muscat wine, which is probably why I did not like it too much. The wine was good, just not my favourite flavours.
I must say, the service was very friendly, but I was a little bit surprised about how long it had taken them to clear the table when I arrived, as it was not too busy.
Overall, The Earl Derby is a good addition to the area, but since I came across raving comments just after it opened, I must admit that it fell short of my expectations and did not blow me away.

Great price drinks, nice layout, seats where comfy enough.
the toilets were absolutely horrid though, they stank and where not clean.

A nice place to be with reasonable food. A typical pub that does it well. Could do with much better music, especially live music. Would be great in the evenings for something lively and even jazz.
M. Y.
Very friendly and helpful staff . Got us a taxi when we was having trouble getting one and helped my 96 year old brother in-law to the taxi . We also had a good meal . Would highly recommend it
V. M.
Cheap and quiet. Not much of an atmosphere but excellent value for money if you want a cheap drink without having to claw your way to the bar.
B. C.
2 for 1 cocktails all day every day, cheap drinks, great atmosphere. This place has really come back to life
m. T.
I been customer of the pub for few years now but I never felt so comfortable since Jack took over as new manager and I must saying is very friendly and take care of is client as no one did before so I do hope he will remain as the new manager
C. L.
Food was lovely, big portions, had the full house burger, served by the blond with glasses bar staff very polite and helpful, nice atmosphere
J. M.
cheap pints.
£2 per pint fresh beer 🤟
Staff are amazing

Decent pub. Really big inside , screens everywhere and a pool table towards the back.
I think it's the cheapest on the road too, that's a bonus.
S. C.
Sports pub. Reasonably quiet, good pool table, nice place to watch the footy. No bitter on tap though.
S. G.
Good range of beers
Lots of space (even if awful sofas)
Quiet on a Friday night, which is both good but also worrying
S. D.
Im in London on business and i have to say that is the best all day full English breakfast IV had in London it was beautiful and the staff are great

Nice atmosphere and staff are very accommodating during the pandemic

Old mans pub. Full of the local alcoholics.. But they are the cheapest drinks on the high street. And they don't serve food now..
S. P.
It look small from the outside. Quite unique and big inside. The food isn't up to scratch. Other than that, its relaxed.
