Couldn't fault the food I had. Frustratingly they didn't have the dish I wanted having spent some time deliberating and they didn't indicate in advance that anything on the menu wouldn't be available. Some staff were great, but the one guy in particular who took our orders was miserable and borderline rude which just killed the tables vibe a bit as we were all in good spirits. Nice enough but I wouldn't rush back.

It’s coming home - wonderful place and thanks Biagio for the recommendation on the Salt Beef Sandwich. The triple cooked chips were delightful and perfectly washed down with a fantastic Bloody Mary. The Eton mess was amazing!

This pub is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is great and the staff is extremely helpful and such wonderful people. I come here with my friends all the time and always have the best time. The food is excellent and the drinks are amazing. Even had a birthday party for a friend here and the upstairs room for hire was beautiful and was a perfect size for my party and the staff was very helpful in making the evening one to remember. Highly recommend this lovely pub!

It was a peaceful Sunday when I saw their tempting IG story, and decided to take a risk and go there w/o a booking. It worked out well for the first two Guinness, and thanks (!) to the people who did not show up worked better for a couple more Guinness and one Desperados. The staff was very kind and helpful. Used Young’s On Tap app to order, which worked pretty well. Finally got a cold Desperados as well! Just a few mins by walk from Ladbroke Grove station.

Staff are very friendly and know their stuff. I tried a strawberry beer based on the barman agreeing most are too sweet but this was as he promised, just refreshing. I'd like to go back and try some of their extensive gins! Beautiful classic decor.

A very nice pub within walking distance from the Portobello Flea Market. When tired of antiques, and less valuable things, take a stroll here for some excellent food, and tasty ales. You can have other types of beer too, of course, along with a nice selection of wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Nice staff, ready to serve with a smile. Truly a gem, easily overlooked when you turn your back on the Market and walk towards Notting Hill Gate. Go the other way instead, towards Ladbroke Grove, and you can't miss this pub.

Trout and new potato salad at The Elgin, Ladbroke Grove. Patient staff, an accommodating chef and delicious food 😍 I don't have seed oils so he boiled/ grilled ingredients instead for me. I don't eat dairy, eggs or meat... limited menu for my needs but once I found something it was very very tasty

Not a cheap pub, but pleasant enough, I was born in Cornwall Crescent, when I sit in the Elgin, I normally sit looking down towards where I was born, it was my dad's local too. Good Guinness, although 30 years ago, you couldn't say that.

This pub has a good aura/vibe to it and the service behind the bar was excellent. When I arrived it was full of Rugby fans watching the Rugby but once that finished they put on the football and the pub was still full (in a good way). Some people only came to dine, some ate and drank and the rest just drank and mingled but everyone got along plus respected each others space.. Highly recommend this chilled spot, good crowd/lovely people here 👌🏼

Not the best experience there. After being seated for about an hour, we were simply handed a piece of paper (not a single word was given) with an information that they had a reservation for that table in 40min. However, after about 15min those guests arrived and we had to leave in a rush because they wanted to seat them. We intended, after drinking, to eat something. But we were thrown out, literally.

Proper pub. Plenty of seats. Staff are extremely helpful and always friendly. Food is good. My only one recommendation is that they stock a Schweppes bitter lemon, hint hint :) Lemon tonic isn't quite the same for those teetotal nights.

Really nice pub for a Sunday lunch. We all had the roasts which were all good sized and typical prices around £15-20. Dining was very nice and spacious. Staff were attentive and the meal had a good rhythm to it. Desserts were good, around £6-10. Recommended.

Perfect local pub. Great staff, service and selection. It gives that feeling of community. Upstairs they have a private room that can be used for private parties and you don’t pay for renting it but just for food and drinks. You only pay a deposit that goes towards your final bill. Totally recommend for an evening with friends or a date. The dining area is very cosy and welcoming with tables but also sofas by the fire place.

Nice place, went there for drinks. There was a game on. Very busy. Nothing to rave home about. Staff was average... Waited five minutes for the bartender to actually tell me to go to the other side of the bar because he wasn't taking orders... That was a little weird. I thought he was just busy with other orders, but he could've said it straight off. Overall no complaints, wasn't expecting anything grand, didn't get anything grand. Neither pleasantly surprised nor disappointed.

It is not so easy anymore to find a pub in west London with proper good service, where they know what is an Irish coffee and even if they don't serve it, they are willing to make it up for u. Where they know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. The Elgin still own all that and every bit of treatment u can expect of a great welcoming service. They do offer lots of local events and services, making the pub a true hub for locals. The food and the dining area are great also. The place is well known for it. Although they own it in the Gin area and cocktails.. they lack options when it comes to ales, craft beers and whiskies.

Love this pub (bit pricey though, hence only 4stars) staff are friendly and you're always welcomed by the locals (you'll probably here a story or two about Carnival in the old days) Foods very good and a great selection of beers and ales. Shows the big sports events on big screen and TVs. The music (Bands and artists) is always top grade.

There's nuthin like a pint of neck oil on a Saturday! Went for an impromptu pub lunch on a sunny Saturday. They've done lots to make the place as covid safe as possible. Including ordering and paying via the Youngs on Tap app. Food & Service were great. Dropped 1 star because i couldn't get on the wifi and the app couldn't figure out that i was in the pub. App worked on my friends phone no problem (wifi didn't)

I keep forgetting to take photos so annoying. But it's very gentrified now. The stain glass windows are gorgeous clean nice sofas nice place to have a drink. I used to go when ladbroke grove was edgy and it was full of wayward people. It was so different and a lot of fun and now its lovely and glad I could compare the two eras. The Elgin will always have a special place in my heart. Great place to meet up for a drink with mates. Food is really excellent as well. Good selection of wines beers and spirits. Takes bookings and has a small patio area for those warm summer nights or for smokers.

Went after work for a few drinks. Outside seating fills up quickly. A very friendly barman who recommended different types of gin for us, had a good smile and attitude. Unfortunately he wasnt there all night and was later served by the most miserable barmaid.

Georgie is a terrific member of staff and always makes you feel welcome. Explained all the new rules and one way system without it making you feel uncomfortable as so many other establishments do. She's a credit to the team.

Nice place. Bit of an abrupt guy running the food part. Woe betide anyone who sits at an empty table in the restaurant!! "Have you booked this precious table" will be the demand, at which point you will be escorted to the bar. We managed to avoid the wrath by sitting on a sofa, so that was probably out of bounds for the little jobs worth. Apart from that, a lovely bar, decor is lush, they have a nice Christmas vibe, plenty of variety of booze. Enjoy, and merry Christmas. Just make sure you book a table 😂

Classic Gin Palace Victorian pub. Still retains all of the classic features. With huge high ceilings , wonderful etched glass windows and stained glass features between the rooms. A real drinking pub, but with a good menu and upstairs rooms for.dining. need more like this. Unfortunately this is a dying breed.

On a corner site this is a typical large city pub, but its most interesting aspect comes with retaining much of its superb Victorian interior. Visited on Saturday lunchtime. No welcome from the barman to speak of and the atmosphere was distinctly flat but at least managed to get a couple of seats after escaping the Portobello Road crowds. London Pride was in good condition if a tad expensive. Overall above average if only for the interior.

Couldn't entirely tell whether the ceiling was suffering from a mould issue or if the dappled grey was part of an attempt at hipsterification. I suspect that patrons are more interested in a varied range of quality beers (which the Elgin sadly lacks) than they are in filament bulbs and strategically peeling paintwork. Nonetheless, a lively and inviting neighbourhood pub with some beautiful and well preserved heritage features.

This used to be a "dive" in Ladbroke Grove and remember when it got raided back in the early 1990"s Now it is a much more up market establishment, well organised and catering well for guests who want a drink or something to eat. Much improved, the service is good and the beer well above average

Back in the day Victorian Gin Palaces were deliberately decorated to woo and entrapp the poor hard done to populace for as long as possible, using as much decor and pleasant surroundings as possible. Surroundings like this are usually found in Sam Smiths bars. The Yorkshire based brand knows how to keep authenticity. However, The Elgin reaks of Victorian Elegance. Visually stunning, ambient, and bang on for Notting Hill.
