Reviews of The Footman
D. T.
A delightful small(ish) pub, close to Berkeley Square. Good beer, both cask and keg. The service was both pleasant and efficient. A great place for a beer if you are in the area. Although, as said the pub has a small footprint, don't be fooled, it is spread over three floors and everyone will fit in! Food is on offer Monday through Saturday. Certainly worth a visit.
Z. K.
Charming little pub with good food and exceptional service. Our waitress was a lady from Poland, unfortunately didn't catch her name, but was incredible and made the visit a really enjoyable experience. She was humorous, attentive and very helpful. The food wasn't too shabby either ...!
A must if you're looking for traditional British pub grub!
M. B.
The Footman. A good clean, busy London pub. What more do you need? What you don’t need is their prices, but given the location it’s pretty standard.
We went in as part of the hidden city open world escape room - the bar staff played their part excellently insisting on the exact expressions to access the next clues.
Outside the area is so posh there was a bag of rubbish split open and blowing round in the street, but instead of dirty nappies and rotting food it was foreign art books. Reminded me of Karl Poklington’s rant about hummus pots. Strange.
A. D.
Really lovely pub, cozy look and feel and delicious Sunday roast. Servers looked understaffed for the crowd but they were lovely when they were able to make the rounds.

I come to The Footman every time I am in London without fail. The location is nicely tucked away. The interiors are clean, comfortable and well done. The food is top notch. The lamb roast on Sunday’s is a must have!
And on top of all that, the service is great. Tony, the bartender/server is the best! So pleasant and nice. He’s not afraid to recommend items…and his recos are always on point. My favorite pub in London, no questions asked.
M. H.
Tuesday 24th August and life around The Footman is buzzing with friendly chatter, gentle laughter and that sweet sound of clicking glasses.
Delightful bar staff that genuinely serve you with a genuine smile. The Footman show that they are happy to have you back and we are a little more than excited to be back.
The low lights sets the calming atmosphere complimented by the chilled tunes caressing your emotions, all make for a top notch night with friends, colleagues and loved ones or just relax alone with your favourite tipple and reflect while soaking it all in
You could do worse than The Footman but you couldn't do much better. When in or around Mayfair look for The Footman and treat yourself...you know your worth it..!!
M. C.
Nice pub. Very crowded on a Friday late afternoon/early evening - to be expected. Recommended.
S. H.
The private rooms are light and lovely. The events manager Amira, could not possibly have been more helpful, and all the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. The food was great.
M. F.
Excellent establishment, food and staff alike
J. I.
The Footman is an excellent pub in the heart of Mayfair - it suits a range of occasions and always has an excellent atmosphere and vibe. Great menu and drinks selection - do visit!!
D. P.
Discovered this pub this evening and it's fair to say I will definitely be returning, I had the game pie recommended by I think Chris and my other half had the steak, fantastic service all round , can't fault it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
R. D.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly service a great place just to enjoy a relaxing drink, they also serve food but didn't eat so can't comment on this but it did look good...
C. S.
Been here many times when visiting London. One of our favorites in Mayfair. New owners acquired couple years back but preserved tradition of good food and friendly service. Upstairs there is fine dining. Downstairs a traditional pub with all favorite pub food.
C. G.
This was our last while playing Hidden City, a really fun experience.
The pub is cozy and we spend around 30 mins here. Lively atmosphere and great service.
G. H.
Fabulous lunch upstairs at the Footman. My pork jowls were amazing and my fellow dinners reported their food was very good too. Excellent desserts and we were given a freebie plate of homemade mince pies too.
S. B.
Very busy but it was jubilee weekend....staff were on it and beer well kept
N.
Been there many times and every time food is the best quality.
P. f.
Great atmosphere
Brilliant
Brought back memories of how a pub should be
J. B.
Lovely place, great food and good service. Will go back. Very popular.
D. R.
Lacked atmosphere and charm. 1 pint and a sausage roll £14.95!
C. E.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and nice ales. A genuine London pub.
r. b.
A lovely public house- really friendly staff and a great position- opened in 1749 that blows your mind - we called In for a beer on Saturday lunch time- menu looks amazing- toilets are upstairs but disabled toilet downstairs- I personally love the decor and floor boards - recommended- we had lunch and I asked for something not on the menu this was no problem and the food was perfect thank you The Footman PS the burgers are proper unbelievable and amazing worth every penny
Ε. Σ.
Gorgeous neighbourhood pub in Mayfair. Small but classic with great gastropub food! Recommended to those looking for quality and ambiance!
V. T.
Had a truly delicious lunch. Roast Lamb was pink and perfectly cooked and a different take on Fish, Chips and Mushy peas was excellent. Our waitress Aurore was fabulous throughout. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back
J. D.
Busy pub with nice restaurant part upstairs. Lovely pie
W. P.
Very old pub, probably one of the oldest in London, beautiful rooms and climate over 260 years
j. c.
Lovely bar and the gentlemen was very friendly and interactive with the customers 😊👍
J. C.
Great food and friendly attentive service in a cosy dining room on the first floor. Prices are definitely Mayfair, but the quality of the cooking justifies it.
A. O.
Surprisingly friendly pub considering you're in one of the poshest parts of town!
P. U.
Really nice bar with very fair prices for Mayfair. Great friendly staff .
S. G.
It was a "hot" day when I visited London, I was doing my usual thing, randomly walking from one place to another, I stumbled upon this place.. I felt rather thirsty so I popped into this pub for a cider.. Great atmosphere here..
R.
Food was good. If your after a quiet place to eat avoid downstairs.
I. M.
Brilliant pub, but the restaurant is superb, nice and quiet, spacious and the food is exceptional. I particularly recommend is the Shepherd's Pie, its literally the best I've ever had.
T. T.
Awesome fish and chips, cozy vibe. Nice restaurant !
p. N.
Lovely food, good service and good location. Only downside was the music in the bar was too loud for conversation so we got moved to upstairs which was so much better. Recommended
G. K.
One of my favorite pubs, just off Berkeley Sq in Mayfair, smallish downstairs but of course most locals stand outside unless hurricane force wind and rain. Good beer selection and quite good food.
Nice dining room upstairs too.
A. V.
Went there around 18:30 and sooo many people. Must be a popular pub although I found the place makes people wait too long to buy drinks.
V. S.
I hadn't been to the footman for some years. The service and team were great. We went on their first day after re-opening and they coped admirably. The food was very good we will be back
V. P.
Nice vibe/ selection of beers, weirdest mens toilets
S. B.
There’s plenty going on around here to mean that whether you’re stood outside behind the barriers, or sat at a table by one of the large opening windows, there’s plenty to watch and pass time spotting. The bar has some more unique drink options and it’s nice for the glassware to be tailored to your order. The staff are friendly and fast at serving, even when it’s busy. It’s quite expensive but that’s more expected in the area and the food looked alright. I’d return for a sociable drink.
H. G.
Vibrant pub great for after work drinks and food
S. H.
I went here for a casual birthday dinner with a group of 7. When we entered the pub, at around 6pm, it was empty which was a bit worrying because you'd expect there to be some people there but it was nice to basically have the place to ourselves.
The restaurant area was upstairs which was decorated nicely and had a warm atmosphere. We were waited on by 2 staff to ourselves which was lovely and they were very friendly.
We ordered sourdough and olives for the table which was delicious. Please expect to pay quite a bit for food here as it is in Mayfair. For my main I had the rib-eye steak and a side of savoy cabbage with pancetta. They were absolutely delicious and well worth the price. My friends ordered the fish and chips and they said that it was some of the best they ever had.
Overall an excellent experience which is well worth the price. (I won't dock points for the price because what do you expect in Mayfair?)
I. M.
Lovely pub in the Mayfair area. The staff are just about the best we've come across, the decor perfect for the pub and the prices are fair. Haven't tried the food yet but have a feeling it will be good too.
S. T.
Nice location, trendy pub with really good staff, and fast service. Offers proper menu food and snacky cooked bar food as well. I only ate at the bar but the food was really good quality.
It's quite small on the ground floor but the patrons seemed to spill out onto the pavement outside which created quite a cool atmosphere inside and out.
K. O.
One of my favorite pubs, just off Berkeley Sq in Mayfair, smallish downstairs but of course most locals stand outside unless hurricane force wind and rain. Good beer selection and quite good food.
Nice dining room upstairs too.
M. M. T.
Lovely place! Good menu and food
j.
What a wonderful experience that we had, the staff was so lovely and helpful, I will definitely recommend this place any tourist visit Buckingham palace.
A. S.
Been here many times when visiting London. One of our favorites in Mayfair. New owners acquired couple years back but preserved tradition of good food and friendly service. Upstairs there is fine dining. Downstairs a traditional pub with all favorite pub food.
L. K.
We had organisers to all meet up at the pub after a work webinar. We were a larger group and we were all outside due to social distancing measures. You had to order inside but staff were helpful and helped us bring drinks outside. Were told to stay on pavement by the security people and otherwise all went well. Good place to meet up in westend if you are in the green park/Berkeley sqr area.
A. M.
Nice n cozy! Proper english pub with a great History n good location.
M. H.
Somewhat posh and modern pub / bar. The staff are very friendly.
m. b.
Visited last night, last Thursday before Christmas was mad busy as you might expect but all barstaff were excellent in getting everyone watered and on to the next one with a smile on their faces which is what kept us in there all night. Some pubs around this area could do with sending their staff here on covert training missions to see how it should be done!
R. M.
The Footman is great and probably one of the best pubs to have a decent “pub” meal. I’ve had the Fish and Chips and it was amazing. Fish was fresh, perfectly fried and with no grease. Some for the chips and everything else on the plate. My friends had a burger which, according to them was also great. The staff is friendly and professional. Its quiet central (close to Berkley Square) and you can get there by walking from Green Park (no more than 2/3 minutes). I definitely recommend visiting the Footman!
d.
Came here for a quick drink after work, the place was really clean and tidy and the staff there were amazing, found us a nice table upstairs to keep us dry from the rain. Highly recommend this place
D. R.
Stopped in to avoid the rain.....spent 3 hours waiting, god bless the British weather!
Apart from the the fact it was full of city wide boys from 12pm until 2pm it was a decent pub.
Food menu looked good, although I didn't partake, pretty pricey even for drinks.....but it's Mayfair, what do you expect. Haha.
C. M.
Seemed ok. Normal London prices ya know
C. E.
Wow, wow, wow!! The service, food and whole experience was amazing!! We had the private room upstairs for a function and everything from start to finish was perfect. Well done! We will be back. Abbi and Veronica did us proud....superstars!!!
T. W.
I am only in town for a few days and wanted to take in a traditional place with quality food and environment. The Only Running Footman hit the mark. The food was wonderful (I had their Watercress & Pea soup w/ Feta chunks and a Scottish Salmon Main Dish that were both exceptional). The service and ambiance were also quite impressive. This place is well worth an evening with a client or spouse for dinner or catching up w/ the trendy locals for a happy hour pint.
T. W.
One of my favorite pubs in London. Great location, friendly service. Can get crowded Friday evening but very cozy during weekends
D. R.
Always enjoy popping in here for a swift ale. The lunch menu looks good but I have never had chance to eat here. Nice and cosy downstairs and an interesting history to the place as well.
H. C.
One of my instant favourite pubs in Mayfair. Great bar snack menu with more interesting variety of choice - the black pudding croquettes were amazing! Also a more upmarket restaurant upstairs looks worth a visit. Stop for a while one the stairs to view a great selection of Old London photographs (if you can) on the way back from the interesting Men's room door arrangement ;)
T. W.
Loved it. Really cute place. Felt like being in an old friends home, warm, welcome and taken care of. We got the proper Christmas dinner and it was fantastic. Our waiter was lovely too. Thank you!
S. D.
I had dinner with my family here. WE love the atmosphere, very cozy and clean. Good selection of wines and I love the food.
A. M.
Good bar service from friendly staff but pub refuses to take cash. As a consequence won't be returning
S. E.
What a delicious lunch .The food was excellent with a few special features but still generous portions..The staff were most obliging. It is great to be able to enjoy the pub atmosphere downstairs before going up to the restaurant with linen napkins and all.
A. F.
Busy little pub, card payment only, quirky toilets upstairs.
P. A.
It's a nice establishment just round the corner from Berkley Square. Couple of decent lagers (moretti, Pilsners) and some green king casks. Everyone seemed to be well dressed, but that's Knightsbridge for you. Can't comment on the food, but the fish and chips are their speciality apparently.
P. S. J.
Got Beer? Awsome place at Mayfair!
J. M. (.
Enjoy a great burger & wine, great & quiet upstairs restaurant.
S. W.
This is a lovely pub with a beautiful upstairs dining room, I would say price wise for a special occasion. Went with my folks and David Guest and Jason Donovan were at the next table..so seems it attracts celebrities as well. Food and service a joy.
I. W.
Just popped in for a quick drink with a friend. Lovely bottle of Albarino and very friendly staff.
S. P.
Welcoming pub, with good food and kind service. Not much space, so go when it's quiet (early lunchtime). Bill for two people was £50 for lunch sandwiches, with non-alcoholic drinks. Not a local place for me, so not likely to visit again, but would if I was immediately in the area.
T. V. A. L.
The staff seemed to be in a rush to leave all evening. The octopus served for starters tasted like rubber, the beef had no taste at all and the mousse desert was far from exceptional. Sorry, not impressed
S. R.
Great pub in Mayfair. If you go to The Footman, you will definitely enjoy the best of there. Great food and drink and a friendly service from the staff with smiley faces. Definitely recommend !!
A. D.
Food was amazing. Pub is in a fantastuc location the staff so friendly and attentive to us. If you go to Mayfair you have to try the food in the upstairs restaurant you will not be disappointed
S. J.
My wife enjoyed the Ribeye while I had the Rump of Lamb. Both were cooked to perfection and served with fresh green beans, baby New Zealand spinach greens and au gratin potatoes. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, eschew the downstairs pub, and relax at a second floor table. Bespoke wavy glass window panels adore the restaurant that dates from 1749.
B. J.
Went here six years ago with my family and we loved it! Walked by it again on this trip and decided to have lunch. It was just as good as I remembered and the people were really friendly.
R. R.
Excellent food, service and ambience; pricey but it is Mayfair!
M. G.
Called here for a drink whilst out and about.
Good choice of beers and spirits available.
Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
A. A.
Welcome was warm. Nice menu.
Razor clam starter had 4 tiny pieces but chorizo was tasty.
Venison was decent but nothing to get excited about.
Others in the group agreed 3 stars as the value was ok.
Shall not return.
Y. C.
Nice pub especially for after work drinks. Food is ok, not very good but also not inedible.
G. A.
I didn't expect a pub in London to have a Michellen Star 🌟 food 🤗😎Food was one of the best that I ever had in a resto -pub for yearsssss. Excellent variety of beers and most of all GREAT GREAT GREAT service :) thank you. Strongly recommend 💪💪
K. B.
It's a very nice pub, located in central London. The online booking is a very nice option and also the food is well-prepared and served appropriately. The place has a classy appeal and I've even done a business meting there.
A. H.
Food is reasonably priced and very tasty indeed, reccomend the roast chicken!
R. Q.
If you want to stave off going home to a house full of noisy children where you can't move or think straight - then you can go here instead which is a public house full of noisy children pretending to be adults and enjoy several really decent ales until you can't move or think straight. It's like having therapy but without having to remember what on earth you were talking about. In the summer you can hang about outside for hours and watch people walk past who are clearly under orders to not stave anything off under any circumstances whatsoever.
C. M.
Watched the Wimbledon finals here with the guys - had the private room to ourselves and a gorgeous waitress bringing us steak sandwiches and beer, perfect Sunday afternoon! Great service and the food was top notch as usual, best Mayfair boozer!
C. P.
Great little pub tucked away. Friendly staff. Looked like a nice private dining room on the first floor.
M. B.
The lovely lady who looked after us was a complete star and did a fantastic job. We all did a collection for her as a personal thank you. Food was good, not fantastic but tasty.
C.
One of the worst places to have a meal I have ever being to. Found myself sitting for two hours in a beautiful interior just waiting for cold, hundred gram meat stake. When I finally got it, waiter knocked on my shoulder to serve one third of the stake I ordered, floating in hardly warm, almost a soup liquid.
C. G.
Nice pub, very old building staff very helpful even though they were very busy.
A. M.
Quite liked it here. Fairly nice atmosphere, although it's a bit confused about whether it wants to be a restaurant or a pub. Food was perfectly alright, but not great value. Well-kept ale, though.
N. F.
Good food, honest pub, good selection of drinks. I would come here and meet people here often since the food is interesting for a pub and decent. Friendly staff.
M. W.
I cant really consider this to be a 'pub'; it's really a restaurant masquerading as a pub.
Nice food but not really great value.
Beer was nearly £5 a pint and not kept particularly well.
OK, but better gastropubs in London
B. B.
Lovely staff , a great service and atmosphere, the food is great too. This establishment is always busy. Well worth checking out 👍👍👍.
I. D.
My favorite local gastro-pub in London. Got the recommendation from the @Lm_piccadilly concierge and it's a quintessential English pub - small, homely, and has a great atmosphere. Nothing beats the Footman Burger (chili jam FTW!) and a cold pint. I always make a point to stop in whenever I'm in town.
M. A.
Went there with Hidden city games, great staff
Y. G.
Cosy interior and good drinks
Decent prices as well
S. B.
Good basic pub with good selection of beers. When I was there enough room to sit down at night think it gets busy but with a good vibe
B. M.
Consistently friendly, excellent "proper" pub in the heart of Mayfair.
J. B.
Great pub with good selection of ales although slow service. Large space downstairs with some room to stand outside. More, private, space upstairs.
L. B.
Great Mayfair pub. Good atmosphere and choice of beer. The restaurant serves good food and also provides for function space.
D.
In our holiday we went two times to this restaurant. The food was awesome ( i can recommend the cheeseburger) and the service was also very kind.
W. B.
A very gold Mayfair pub in a fantastic location. On weekdays 90% of the guests are hedge fund, family office and private equity professionals talking shop.
L. A. S.
We dined here as many times as we could in April 2011. Every time the service was ace and the food was great. Go early to get a seat and the food will be hot and ready to serve.
J. N.
Warm and welcoming staff who were efficient and made us feel very comfortable.
L. K.
Great local restaurant. Staff are always friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. Great selection of wines too.
P. L.
Delicious gastro pub grub in an establishment which dates back to 1749! Jeremy is a legend!
J. H.
Went for a drink once. Quite a nice interior, and has an interesting history (some connection with Jeeves and Wooster I believe), but it's more of a restaurant than a pub these days.
N. S.
Good food. Nicely furnished. Reasonable selection of beers. Private dining room and service were quite good.
c. r.
Great boozer, not sure why they changed the name from theonlyrunningfootman but pub remains the same. Good atmosphere and nice restaurant upstairs if business requires.
J. P.
Service charge in a pub? Cmon..
Good sandwich though!
K. S.
Good service and ambience
L. B.
Great venue private rooms great decor next to some really historic places good staff and a very busy Thursday and Friday with a welcoming atmosphere
B.
Good pub with selection of beers and wines as well as for options. There's an upstairs dining area and a room you can book for private events.
T. S.
Nice bar, a bit small but managed to get a seat. Men's toilets are interesting!
C. P.
An excellent West End hostelry much loved by advertising executives of tje past who would tumble from Berkeley Square to have a pint and a smoke at the footman.
W. C.
What a great pub. Right in the middle of Mayfair with a good choice of beers. What's not to like.
S. P.
Wonderful lunch and excellent service. Very attentive. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
A. D.
Good service. Loud downstairs but a good restaurant on the first floor. Nice people.
C. W.
Ate in the bar area not the restaurant upstairs. Not cheap for bar food but superb quality and worth every penny. Lovely relaxed ambience.
S. R.
A good meal. Not many seats down stairs so get there in time, you can reserve a table I think, upstairs seating too.
H. Q.
Having quality time and spending worth it
S. B.
Good solid english pub just off Berkeley Sq opposite Marks Club. Friendly staff and its always busy with a good buzzy atmosphere
A. B.
Lovely pub with lovely staff. I believe, the footman has the best mulled wine in the area during the Christmas season.
J. K.
Great pub but lacks staff when busy.. good selection of beers and staff are friendly
J. H.
Stopped in for a swift half on the way to afternoon tea. Lovely atmosphere and nice bartender
G. L.
West end busy expensive gastro pub. Good range of beers including their own bitter.
P. K. J. N.
We had an amazing time; and we'll definitely be back again.
G. B.
For me, The Footman is very comfortable place and I always had great time with my old friends.
J. M.
The food was good but the upstairs restaurant was small and the food took forever to arrive. Good beers.
C. E.
Excellent pub food and drinks. Customer service was with a smile. 5 star.
S. T.
Great food, attentive staff, central location. I had a great evening thanks.
P. C.
Great staff , very friendly and a great atmosphere .
Will pop in for a few beers again .
D. P.
Very friendly staff, great menu and a good atmosphere.
S. M. D. S.
Traditional pub serving British menu in the bar and an elegant bare-brick upstairs dining room.
E. B.
i love this small pub on a corner in Mayfair, just off Berkley Sq. The Staff are organised & helpful even after 5pm when this place is packed full of workers!
S. O.
Nice and clean place. Charming staff. Awesome local cask bitter.
M. T.
Great go to pub if your local in the area but it does get very busy in peak hours.
S. M.

B. S.
Nice pub in Mayfair. Booking advised.
N. S.
Great location, pleasant staff. Usually very crowded which can be good & bad. Food also quite good
A. S.
Always the place to get a jug of Pimm's and the food is great. The fish and chips are my go to.
J. A.
Look it's a good pub with great food ( if a bit expensive but hey it's Mayfair) but wouldn't have been nice to have toilet paper and something to dry your hands with - same situation in the men's and ladies
A. N.
Nice little pub but a bit too crowded for my liking.
J. J. G.
Great service Great food
P. B.
Wonderful old authentic pub in the heart of Mayfair London. Fabulous food too!!!!
H. T.
One of best pubs in Mayfair. The food is delicious and service was good
C. T.
Excellent food, great service. Lovely staff, wonderful ambiance.
J. W.
One of the best places I had dinner. All the rest of the company loved it. Not a single complaint.
S. C.
Small but neat pub. Busy but not overwhelming. Not cheap but no worse than others in the area.
P. E.
Clean, very quiet unfortunately lacked atmosphere. Service very good
K. D.
Good ales
C. G.
Food excellent, loud atmosphere on Saturday nights which is to be expected. Service was quick and conscientious.
G. B.
Excellent food, fair service and a fruitful infestation that became a little 'bugging' as we dined
J. L.
Upstairs floors available for private parties and groups. Great canapés, but rammed during peak times.
O. N.
Overpriced and not a great layout inside. Better pubs nearby.
S. T.
Always a fun and popular place. Great for meeting, drinks and business clients.
C. C.
Wonderful pub in Mayfair. Good food. Gets busy
J. G.
The food is good for a pub but comes in very filling portions. Not good for weight watchers.
J. D.
Nice pub. But mens toilets are really small / crowded compared to the size of the pub.
R. A. M.
Awesome ambience
C. P.
Classic venue, old pub, great food and service
J. L.
Good food, good drink. What more would one want?
P. C.
Workaday menu. But perfectly adequate for a quick business lunch

d. g.
Good beers, nice decor and friendly staff
J.
Went in there as part of a scavenger hunt and really enjoyed my time

Solid gastro in the middle of Mayfair. Mayfair prices and can get crowded at night but one of the best option in the neighbourhood.
R. R.
Great Mayfair pub. Good food and a busy bar.
D. W.
Very expensive. But didn't expect it to be cheap. Nice for a treat.

(Translated) One of the oldest pubs in London. The beautiful bar on the ground floor and the tables on the first floor separated by plexiglass. Less beautiful, but necessary. The service is calm and friendly. Fish and chips was excellent. The price of 18 GBP justified with the ambience.
