Reviews of The Gipsy Moth

Everyone is very polite and helpful. The place is beautiful both inside and outside. You should try the seafood pasta and don't forget to get a brownie with ice cream. I just go there for the brownie once a week. One of my favourite places.
A. M.
Service is consistent, staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food is seasonal and fresh.
The courtyard is great for the summer offering plenty of seating and attracts a good mix of people.
The pub itself is everything you want historic London to offer. Nice to see a pub getting it so right without feeling you’re being ripped off simply because of location!
A. G.
Great pub with excellent food, beers and service. Great location right by the river with the Uber boat just outside too. We had a great night here whilst visiting family. Some good views across the river to Canary wharf from just outside too. The Cutty Sark ship is just outside. Has great heated outdoor seating area. Will definitely come back again and recommend to others.

We were looking around for somewhere to eat and decided to grab a drink while we were here too.
The place itself was very nice, no doubt, plenty of seats inside and out with great views towards the River Thames. The food was alright from my point of view, but the others seemed to love theirs, perhaps I should have gotten the bangers & mash? The only thing I found strange was, they ran out of kids fish and chips by like 3pm...the staff were nice at least.
Getting here via other public transport would be either the Docklands Light Railway to Cutty Sark, the Docklands Light Railway/Thameslink/southeastern via the Greenwich station, Greenwich Pier and the local buses but you could also try the Greenwich Foot Tunnel if you're coming from the northside of the river.
Recommended.

Really friendly service. Roast was good, one of the larger portion sizes for the price (typical expensive Greenwich roast), I had the pork which literally melted in my mouth. We got a side of cauliflower cheese which I’d skip next time (not very cheesy). Potatoes where also a notable mentioned, lovely crunchy and soft inside just like granny used to make em.
Vegetarian friendly, Also do a nut roast which looked good when a waiter walked past with it.
The outdoor bit round the back has heating too, really nice spot with the view of the cutty sark.

Went here with my partner for dinner and drinks. Amazing place, lovely and helpful staff. Food was gorgeous, though personally I think the fat on the belly pork should have been rendered down, but the flavours were amazing. Waiters and waitress were very attentive. Will definitely be back!
S. V.
Lovely pub in the heart of historic Greenwich, view of the Cutty Sark Boat from the beer garden, lovely lunch with my daughter. We chose from the pizza 🍕 menu... App ordering in place from table, staff extremely friendly. Good wine list, craft beers available. Reasonably priced for central Greenwich 👍🏼
D. W.
Great service, great atmosphere, lovely oldy-worldy decor to the front of the venue, and in a prime location! been there for years and long may it reign!
I. C.
Booked a table to watch the rugby. Great choice. Good food and friendly and professional staff. The location or the pub is absolutely ideal. Cannot recommend this place enough.
N. S.
One of my favourite pubs in Greenwich. Great drinks selection with an amazing outside area with heated lamps. The food has always been delicious and all the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful
K. A.
The place itself was quite nice with a decent beer garden and plenty heating outside. Unfortunately, the people at the table next to us were so drunk and loud they most likely ruined many others nights. Falling over, spilling drinks, crashing into people and generally just making way too much noise... the funny part is that half of their party were at least 50 or over and should know better. Otherwise the beers and food were pretty good. Not sure I'll be back though

I was passing by many times but I never thought about going in until recently.
I would say it's one of the coziest pubs/bars around Cutty Sark.
Even though it looks like a typical pub from the outside, inside the decoration is great and the set up of the place gives it a very warm atmosphere.
The staff if well trained and enjoys having a chat with the customers, something I don't see often in the UK.
I didn't have the chance to try the food unfortunately so I won't be able to rate any of that but I'm sure from my experience that any place working that way keeps a good eye as well for what goes out of the kitchen.
Definitely worth a visit if you are around :)

Lovely food and service. Booked a table for Christmas lunch and the food was delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly. Busy pub but that’s a good sign of a popular venue. Will definitely book here again.
M. G.
A nice little pit stop in Greenwich to quench your thirst. Drinks reasonably priced with a beautifully decorated and clean female toilets situated away from the bar, upstairs. This place is ideal for drinking and eating. Offers traditional pub grub with a modern twist. If you don't fancy sitting inside they also have plenty of seating outside. On a nice sunny day make sure to arrive early or book a table to ensure getting an idyllic spot. During peak hours it is very busy. Inside is spacious with ample tables for small and big groups. Staff are helpful and polite. Service was good.
Overall a lovely pub, which I would recommend to other people.
L. B.
Really nice pub, we were visitors from Brighton and popped in there.
Nice couple of drinks then we ate there.
Food was fantastic and presentation matched
The chicken and chorizo dish was so full of flavour, when of the best dishes I have had , especially from a pub...could have come from a top restaurant ....my husband had fish and chips and he was not disappointed either....Thoroughly Recommend
D. D.
The place is nice. The garden is big and spacious. I went there on Friday night and didn't have any reservations and still able to get a table. Staff is really nice and helpful. I didn't order to eat but I saw table next to us having really nice food. Kitchen work till 9pm if I remember right. Garden is open till 10pm but not sure if that is because of covid. I recommend this place for everyone
D. T.
Nice pub, though staff can improve their friendliness. Nice location and garden. Perfect stop for a Greenwhich pub crawl!
A. B.
I recently came to the pub and my experience was very enjoyable! I was served by two lovely young girls, they were so welcoming and friendly, one called lacey and the other girl i didn’t catch her name unfortunately but she had pink at the front of her hair. The man in the outside area was also so lovely and accommodating, he was a Brazilian man with a bubbly personality . The experience was a 10/10 and i would definitely recommend going for a drink here!
K. S.
Lovely pub with a decent sized beer garden, located next to the Cutty Sark.
I enjoyed my pizza. My friend thought the mango with her calamari dish was a strange combination that didn’t really work.
The beer garden was throughly covered so we remained dry despite the terrible weather.
Would advise booking in the current climate - we were lucky to get a table as a walk-in.
You order your food and drink using the QR code. Service was really quick.
M. R.
Nice pub but just stayed for the one as there was nowhere to sit inside.
R. H.
Lovely place and I love Greenwich! My waiter was very friendly and attentive. Wanted their sticky pork belly but they were out so had salmon which was nothing special but was ok. Will try something else here next time.
R. S.
Great pub have eaten here for years but disappointed with the lack of gluten free options. A member of our family has coeliac and there were really only two options on the menu … the roast doesn’t have a gluten free gravy option (which is a really easy alternative to have) and the burgers and sausages are both made with wheat, even the nachos have been covered in flour which isn’t necessary. With an recently updated menu you think this would be a great opportunity to look at this - a real shame that it now makes it hard to eat here as a family.
T. B.
The best roast in London!!!
Amazing pub with a great beer garden! Friendly staff and a really cosy atmosphere!
If you go for food on a Sunday make sure you get there early afternoon (before 2pm) as they often sell out.
Quality ingredients, cooked amazingly and tastes perfect!!
My only criticism is that they need to provide a side of gravy as standard. Otherwise still the best place in London for a roast dinner!
H. R.
wow very expensive..and slow service...10% surcharge was a bit of a joke re, the rip off prices!!! burger was burnt..chips lovely cuppa tea delightful
L. S.
Despite the service and location being lovely, the food was not up to standards. The prawn pasta was spicy but not tasty, and the steak was advertised as 9oz matured sirloin and it clearly wasn’t it. There is room for improvement since the place is at a lovely location.
t. t.
Solid enough pub, friendly staff and decent pub grub. Clean place, plenty of tables. Some of the customers are a bit weird in a Love Island kinda way, but it's Greenwich, so not a lot to do about that! Otherwise reliable little boozer in the heart of Greenwich.
A. L.
Excellent Pub in a prime location, plenty of space inside and even more outside. The beer garden is great! There are tables and chairs on the side which give you a great view of the famous Cutty Sark ship, and if you venture further into the beer garden there are lots of cool sizeable tables for big groups to small groups to enjoy. I've been here in winter and summer and have always enjoyed myself. Inside its clean and spacey but cosy, with attentive staff and decent selection of beers, winesand spirits and dining options. Getting here is easy with great transport links, as the DLR and bus stops are about 1 minute walk away, and it's about 5 minutes walk to the main Greenwich train station.
F. S.
Stopped for a quick beer love this type of pub eatery.Great atmosphere the place was full and buzzing loved it.
M. H.
Lively venue with a great menu and Large heated beer garden out back. In the shadow of the Cutty Sark
A. K.
Very nice pub with good atmosphere and a good selection of beers. The weather was nice and we sat outside, there was a lot of seating and good service. We'll located for National Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark.
M. S.
Lovely outside space. Attentive staff. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food but the drinks were well priced. Brilliant location to stop after visiting Greenwich.
T. D.
Excellent pub with an excellent choice of beers and spirits at reasonable prices
L. K.
This is my local. When it's not too busy it's really nice. There is a fair selection of beers and wines and spirits. It has a pub feel to it and the outside area is quite spacious and has heaters for when the weather gets colder. The food isn't half bad and reasonably priced. Good pies fish and chips sharing platters etc. During the summer this places does get jam packed due to its proximity to the Cutty Sark. Service is pretty good when when it's busy so all in all I really like.
J. R.
Great night! Looked after a guy who was super friendly, didn’t get his name but I know he was born in Brazil with a french mum! What an amazing team member you have there 😊 will definitely be back because of him
D. E.
Better than I expected given it’s touristy location. Traditional interior and very well kept real ale.
G. M.
My three year old daughter and I had lunch here after visiting the Cutty Sark. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Food was good. Nice selection of beers, they had Gipsy Hill on which is probably my favourite brewery, was Ranger rather than Hepcat (absolute fave). Our waiter was such a nice guy, made a real fuss of my daughter and made us feel really cared about and looked after, thank you!

The Gipsy Moth
🚇 Cutty Sark
🍺 £5.65 Meantime Lager
❤️ After walking the foot tunnel under the Thames from The Isle of Dogs to Greenwich, I decided that my next port of call would be The Gipsy Moth. It’s a pleasant little colourful boozer with a nautical theme and a great beer garden with views of the Cutty Sark. Due to the pubs location its a tourist hotspot but it wasn’t overly busy on this Thursday afternoon. The service was good and the price of a pint was what you would expect in a touristy part of town. The clientele was a cosmopolitan mix from all around the world, most of which were enjoying the fish and chips on offer.
.
Definitely recommend a visit during the week here as it gets very busy at weekends. The beer garden is a great place to chill and enjoy a pint in the sunshine and enjoy the views of the Cutty Sark.
.
📊 Information correct on visiting 17/05/18

Very nicely positioned pub, next to the cutty shark museum and with a beautiful view of it from the back. We visited on a sunday, luckily we had reserved a table as it was quite busy and enjoyed a very nicely cooked sunday roast , starters and desserts. Very good, and fast, service.
D. M.
Drinks a little pricey but prob standard for the area, good food and decent menu
P. M.
just had drinks at this pub at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich after a walk to the Observatory and again sat outside as it was a beautiful day in October, loved the interior and the food looked great as again the place was packed and everyone was enjoying themselves, another one which we will return too.
M. D.
Beautiful old pub with fantastic memorabilia.
S. B.
On a sunny weekend afternoon this place looked stunning; catching the sun and covered in lovely flowers meant it was impossible not to stop in and have a drink in the small garden area outside. From here there’s plenty to observe with a great view of the Cutty Sark and nearby buskers adding to the atmosphere. There’s some large tables present for groups as well as plenty of areas to stand.
The staff working behind the bar weren’t very welcoming or friendly, not saying anything when they look at you to take an order, nor saying thank you or indeed anything else when they serve the drinks and move onto the next person. Two cokes were provided in glass bottles, but there was no offer of a glass or ice. Card machines are mounted on the bar helping to speed up the payment process. Prices are reasonable for London especially given the prime location. Toilets are located upstairs and really nice - clean and modern. Overall a decent place to stop by and chill out for a while.
M. N.
Had a great Sunday roast dinner there and the drinks were amazing too. Would definitely recommend
D. A.
Awesome night, great drinks selection, great location. Reasonably priced and friendly bar staff. What more could you want!
C. A.
One of the best pubs in Greenwich, great beer selection and lovely beer garden with a view of The Cutty Sark.
M. K.
Nice pub on cuttysark quick service good food and beer Outside place to sit . You have full view of cutty sark while sitting in open. Traveller prefer to eat and drink here. No live music . Garden sitting place. You can drink in street also. British pub food swerved here. This place is costly as compare to other pubs in Cutty Sark. Open seven day a week . Table service for food only.
N. S.
Excellent staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable, went above and beyond to look after my child when it came to the menu and his allergy, would recommend this place everytime.......
E. P.
Came here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Pub was really busy with a nice atmosphere but they had run out of roasts and wouldn’t make any cocktails other than an aperol spritz. Food was ok and service slow - it was hard to find a waiter on arrival and when wanting to pay.
J. S.
Nice pub garden 👌 orderd on the app our drinks came straight out and the bar staff guy was very happy guy very freindly . Will definitely be back.
M. L.
Amazing place to checkout in Greenwich.
Close to the dlr station. Good seating area inside and outside. Steve great food and drinks.
Love the look of the pub it’s old but not shabby, it’s really clean and Maintained according to new standards.
You can also enjoy the views of famous Cutty Sark ship and the rides and Christmas tree during Christmas time, by seating just inside the pub area.
Must visits for a quick wine or lunch in outdoor seating. They also have a cool beer garden in the back to check out.
N. M.
Lovely food ,busy pub but well organised.
A. F.
The food was good, amazing location, great views. The atmosphere was nice, just wish the staff could be a little bit more friendly.
J. W.
Just had the most delicious dinner here. Away on business so had to do the awkward table for 1 but still felt quite at home.
Ordered the bread to start and, whilst not expecting what was essentially a loaf, it was so damn good I nearly polished it off! It was served warm, oh so moreish! I bloody love bread (Damn you, carbs) and that was up there with the best of them.
Next, rib eye served very simply with chips, some leaves and a big knob of butter on the steak. Perfect - with steak that good it doesn't need anything more fancy. Again, I bloody love steak (even more than bread), and uppity really was up there with the best...
...AND great beers, good location (sat outside with great view of cutty sark less than 50 yards away) & friendly staff. Top notch.
M. M.
An established good pub in Greenwich... A must visit in the summer, with a varied selection of drinks and good pub food. Nice pub garden right next to the Cutty Sark.
F. G.
I have forgotten what I had there. I'm gonna go again, I just loved it.
Maddie was very helpful and fun.
M. M.
Great pub right near the park. Very dog friendly with a large outdoor area as well
J. S.
Nice pub food, with a large garden area. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially with allergies. You can order from staff at the table or from the website. The garden had big tables that would all easily fit 6 people, with big umbrellas over most tables, so you wouldn't be exposed if it rained, and it kept the wind out. Unfortunately this made it a bit dark and cold for most of the tables in May in London, but some did have heaters. Overall a great pub!
G.
Busy pub near the Cutty Sark - most clientele are tourists. Good choice of daught and keg beers, Friendly bar staff. Unfortunately they had loud piped music in the bars and so we retreated to the spacious beer garden. Very pleasant, though crowded. But then some very loud musicians arrived in the street outside - they really like their jungle drums in Greenwich! (We had been driven out of the previous pub by the loud drumming of a street 'musician'). The Borough should consider bringing in an ordinance restricting the maximum decibels inflicted by street 'musicians'.
T. T.
Nice outdoor space. The staff were friendly. Food was nice. Not sure what the prices were like before lockdown but £9.00 for a glass of wine was a bit much,so we ordered a bottle for £24 which works out cheaper if you are going to have more then 1 drink.
A. C. G.
Really nice dog friendly pub, food was good and had a lot of variety
J. H.
Easy online booking system and easy ordering via the app at the table. Very clean and prompt table service. A few things missing from the menu but the majority was on offer. I recommend sausages and mash and the pepperoni pizza.
W. H.
Just arrived ordered 2 bloody Mary's - they'd run out of tomato juice 😳 not great for such a popular pub although I did offer to go across the road the m&s and get some!
E. H.
Excellent from the very beginning. Courtesy when we were shown to the table, helpful staff, not rushed, best pint of Guinness around so husband was delighted. The food was exceptional, well presented and delicious. We sat outside under a massive sail, so if it had rained we would have been fine. Lovely view of the Cutty Sark, and the garden itself was lovely. It was our first time and we met up with family for lunch. We also had a very young child with us, and we felt welcome and cared for, where as some places can be difficult. 10 out of 10!
K.
Very nice location and would definitely recommend this pub for drinks only. The food however is mediocre at best. There are other, much better options in the area in terms of food.
J.
Popped in there yesterday for a quick drink wkth my daughter was politely asked to wait outside as they were busy. This place is normaly busy but worth the visit. They serve nice food and drink ( didn't eat on this occasion) and staff are always helpful well worth the visit
k. m.
I'd say beware of pickpockets and thieves in the area but according to local authorities, this is a known place for valuables going missing- As told from two of the staff. I'm fully aware you can't "spot a thief", but if there's a recurring pattern, surely you'd use methods to counter this, such as if the recent tactic is that thieves use a "poster" to distract you then steal your belongings from right in front of you, you'd not admit people holding said posters or material. I'm also annoyed that we needed to reserve a table, yet this individual was able to walk in and out freely without any booking or reservation, and all i got when I told the team/manager about the situation was a "This doesn't happen inside, only outside".
A long review, but my stars are based on the reception, atmosphere, team and my experience. Drinks, service was good but quality felt a little lack-luster. Team, friendly and responsive but understandably fairly slow, but i understand the establishment is a fair side. Reception, the team seem to not know 100% what they are doing, my assumption is that they are fairly new to the role. My experience, i still believe could've been averted as i had sensitive data to hand, as well as being embarrassed in front of my date (i understand his is not relevant) and didn't expect a thief to have such free-reign within the establishment, especially when my belongings were centimetres infront of me. Take what you will from this, i have had 3-4 weeks to ponder and reflect on the response so this comes from a totally refreshed and "calmed" frame of mind.
N. H.
Lovely pub. Great service and atmosphere in a fab location. Pizzas very good too.
T. T.
I visited this pub with my friends today. We didn’t know that there’s a marathon going on, so it was extremely busy. The food was delicious and tasty. One of the team members, I believe his name was Nurki, went above and beyond and made as feel like VIP’s. Lastly, he even brought some water for our dog without asking. We are definitely coming back!
j. h.
Fantastic friendly pub, excellent food and drinks choices. Lovely outdoor area
S. B.
Nice pub with some good beer on tap. In a great location.
S. C.
Fab pub, lovely staff. Had pints and burgers, top notch 👌
G. K.
Spent few hours here. Very tasty food, nice drinks and lovely atmosphere. We set outside and enjoyed the sunny wether. Service is great. Would highly recommend to visit and have food and drinks.
H. B.
Right next to cutty dark. Outdoors is nice. Toilets on first floor bit steep but nice place
A. H.
Lovely garden and the staff are always helpful even if it's busy.
m.
Good selection of gin. Friendly and helpful staff. Great beer garden at the back.
E. B.
The gypsy moth has ways been a great little pub in Greenwich but the beer garden closing at 9.45 is a pain and then there are not enough seats inside to accommodate them. Plus the tables are to big meaning you have 1 person hogging a 4 person table when there is nowhere else to sit.
K. L.
I've been to the Gipsy Moth on a couple occasions but the most recent visit was rather disappointing. The nut roast quality has declined and I wasn't very pleased with the food overall. There was a bit of an unpleasant atmosphere from drama between staff since we were sat right next to the kitchen. I'm likely to get a roast elsewhere the next time I'm in Greenwich.
C. L.
Great place to share a pint and some food. We enjoyed it so much that we were here for 2 meals the same day! Fish and chips were fab and the rissoto delicious. Highly recommend.
T. V.
Good service, nice food, excellent cider and wine.
S. N.
This pub is in a good location, confusingly, right next to the Cutty Sark, the Gipsy Moth having been relocated many years ago. Unfortunately, the touristy nature of the location is reflected in the high bar prices, surely among the most expensive in Greenwich.
k. h.
Decent food, nice old pub, reasonably priced. Table service was slow with drinks to start with, drinks were on a tray at the bar so we picked them up ourselves, apart from that the service was good
E. S.
Lovely pub in a really beautiful area. Big garden and plenty of seating
P. R.
Nice place, good sunday roast, service was a little overwhelmed with work and was kind slow, but we weren't in hurry so was ok.
F. P.
It's okay. Average pub with a seafarers theme. Stick to the beers as cocktails a hilarious let down. Head to the Gipsy Moth for the good company not the mixed drinks.
K. R.
Lovely food and drink, good outdoor seating and lots of space to accommodate the new social distancing rules and friendly and professional staff. Food is always fresh and tasty and it's a lovely ambience inside (when the government allow you to sit inside lol). Will visit every time I'm in Greenwich
B. C.
A slightly better than the standard pub menu, nice big garden, beautiful view over the Cuty Sark and Canary Wharf when you sit at the front.
J. C.
Delicious fish and chips, every time we visit Greenwich, we always come to Gipsy Morh. Nice restaurant.
T. A.
Really good location .. decent pub.. tequilla shot out £4.. and rose wine about £6.. atmosphere good. decent toilet and outdoor space with fairly good view. really nice place in summer... They sell food too.OK price.
D. L.
Great location excellent beer garden.
Service was great and reasonable selection of beers.
S. K.
Great food, great beer selection, great wine selection and wonderful staff!
K. Z.
Dood dinner. Amazing atmosphere. Nice congratulations with friends..Happy
J.
Right next to the Cutty Sark boat with outside & inside seating area. Selection of alcohol, soft drinks and food available with a pleasant atmosphere all around.
R. D.
Nice outdoor area, good selection of draught.
Staff are lovely, really good atmosphere
L. M.
It was a beautiful hot Saturday lunchtime and we were lucky to get a table here. Table service was v good, it was v clean lots of precautions including one way system, lots of cleaning and we felt reassured they were going the extra mile. Lovely calamari and a pizza, really enjoyed the food.
M. P.
Friendly staff who were working through a very loud football match, so props to them. The only reason for the markdown was that unfortunately (and probably because of how busy they were) the food wasn't as good as it could have been. The burgers were a little dry as they were overdone, but they had a lovely flavour. I did ask for Fanta, and through the shouting footie crowd, a substitute was offered which turned out to be orange juice which unfortunately went to waste as nobody likes pure orange juice on our table. Clean and well presented inside, nice outdoor area which we popped out to see and the pub itself was quite cool. One suggestion would be to serve the delicious halloumi fries with a dipping sauce, a sweet chilli!/spicy mayo or chutney etc.
P. G.
When in the town centre I always visit this pub, the outside is really nice and covered when too hot, the burgers are really nice, vegetarian options are also nice in this case the power bowl, staff is nice and they are chilled which helps to relax while on a full pub and when is extra hot (visited during the heat wave)
I. M.
Nice place, friendly staff, But price for 2 drinks I thought was outrageous, what do you think :
1 x pint camden lager and a large white wine and soda... £18.55...maybe I'm out of touch, but come on.....
. On
m. w.
lovely meal and food however felt quite offended to be told to have to make a payment mid way through our time at the table. when asked for reason they required payment and whether we had to leave it was supposedly due to the table we were sat at was known for people running off without payment, even though I was with my partner and 2 year old child in a pram .
E. E.
Nice pub. The food was OK and staff is friendly. One thing to note if you have children is that the Cheeseburger in the kids menu was quite big. Actually like a normal portion with a cheaper price. Whilst the cheaper price for a normal portion may be appealing it was a disappointment for our daughter as she could not eat herself and required help.
J. M.
A lovely, cosy atmosphere in this pub. Wonderful service, delicious roast dinner and a wide range of drinks too. Social distancing was observed and the hostess was checking people were from the same household or bubble. Would definitely be back if and when in Greenwich.
A. P.
Great location next to the cutty Sark. Friendly and helpful staff. I was allowed to bring my bike through, there were umbrellas, heaters and gazebos in the garden which is lucky as it was raining and cold.
Draught Beer was limited, so we ordered bottled beer, which was freezing cold, far too cold for craft beer...
P. A.
Spacious pub, with a friendly atmosphere. Not the cheapest place to drink, but certainly one of the most accomdating.
A. J.
Friendly service, good location and good drinks. However the food was ordinary, burger was decent but the pizza was bad. Expected better considering the prices are not cheap.
P. H.
Lovely little Pub. Nice outside area/beer garden.
Only down side is they don't take cash because of covid
A. B.
Nice meal had here, outdoor seating available. The fish and chips was delicious. Staff are nice and friendly
E. N.
Great pub in the heart of the Cutty Sark, with lovely garden terrace. Definitely worth the visit.
R. R.
Came here with with my wife and daughter To celebrate my birthday and what an experience the food was fabulous and reasonably priced considering its location sitting in the beer garden with the view of the cutty Sark fabulous will be going back again .
N. W.
Really great selection of draught ales and beers. Fine location. Good food. Recommended.
G. O.
Good lively pub. Tasty bar meals. Also appropriately price, making it an ideal location to catch-up with friends. Enough room to sit, stand and have a good time
R. N.
Amazing pub. The Aussie landlady was very welcoming and attentive. Service quick and efficient, food delicious. One of, if not the best place in the area.
P. G.
Reasonable prices for drinks. Good food and snacks. Wheelchair friendly. Right next to the Cutty stark, 100 yards from jetty for Thames or Uber river taxis,Ubet about £1 cheaper but on Thames you get landmarks pointed out to you like tower of London ,Cannary Wharf. Southbank and all the places you pass depending where you want to disembark, so its a good place to start your journey from and end with a nive meal or drink.
D. V.
Nice place, friendly staff, tasty dishes.
Z. T.
Lovely pub in a great location. Been here on Sunday for a roast dinner. Staff was very friendly and the host very patient and helpful. Thanks for a great afternoon
M. C.
Lovely pub. Some good beer but a small selection of hand pulls that were on. Great views at the back of the Cutty Sark and a lovely beer garden.
K. B.
I have been here for the first time since I moved in Greenwich area and my friend I have been served by a blonde guy (I think he is italian) who is just great, he took out order at the table, he made the drinks at the bar and he quickly delivered everything we asked like a flash even if they were incredibly busy.. simply the best, service is quick and well managed, I'll definitely will be back again
A. R.
Great being protected from the elements under the umbrellas with heaters as well having to be outside.
Team very accommodating when our numbers changed with addition of a dog as well. Attentive service and food good enough.
P. B.
Lovely pub. Great beer garden at the rear with views of the Cutty Sark. A pity they close the garden at 10pm and there's no seating available inside then!
A. A.
Beautiful garden-pub with view on the Greenwich Pier and the Cutty Sark. We had starters and mains, both great. Good beers too.
A. H.
Solid outdoor seating area. Awesome sweet potato fries. A bit more expensive than expected.
J. P.
As always brilliant service from the whole team. Good food and fresh drinks in amazing surrounding. Highly recommended if you’re in the area. See you soon Gypsy Moth
A. K.
Mulled wine delicious friendly service very well decorated!
P. T.
Good food, good atmosphere. A little more choice of traditional British bitter beer would be a big boost.
F. A.
Nice pub. Very busy on a Saturday. Extensive outside seating area which relieved the inside of the pub. Service very friendly and helpful.
G. J.
Nothing to write home about.
Food was a little overcooked.
Kids burger was incinerated.
They seem intent on keeping all the sun out of the garden with MASSIVE black umbrellas
K. C.
Came here with my mother for lunch in-between flat hunting in Greenwich. The staff were great and very welcoming, which says a lot especially in the midst of COVID. The service and the food were both great - the steak and ale pie was to die for! I already feel that this will be my go-to stop once I move into the area.
M. U.
Good food good selection of wines and beer good service, back today and still great atmosphere food and wine!
V. L.
Last time I was there they had a strawberry beer it was delicious
d. g.
Judging by some of the previous reviews it would seem that patience is not a virtue we have all been blessed with. The staff were friendly and service attentive and I believe that customers should appreciate the difficult circumstances that the hospitality industry is currently working in. If you don't have the patience to deal with how pubs and restaurants now have to operate do everyone a favour and stay home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my food in the lovely garden and will certainly be returning. Shout out to Niamh for great service.
T. G.
Excellent beer, service, location and they do a really good mulled wine at Christmas. It is a bit overpriced though and can get very busy.
A. L.
Always excellent service here. Have been a few times and never disappointed. Reasonably priced in an excellent location. Fantastic view of the Curry Sark if you sit outside.
G. P.
Excellent service and lovely food.
C. M.
Very nice traditional pub and good service here.. I have been seated by a welcoming girl at the door in a pretty full area ( I wasn't really happy with it but I understand they were busy) which was served by a nice guy who was taking care of I think 8 or 9 tables in a really professional way: fast, friendly, literally everything we ordered was on the table in less then 2 minutes all the time! Same for the tables next to us. Very happy with our server, don't remember the name, I only know he has piercings and lots of tattoos and an Italian accent. Despite they were running out of a lot of things due to next lockdown, all beers were half price! Amazing. Definetly will come back as soon as they will open again and hope to be served by the same guy.
C. E.
We had a great evening at the Gipsy, the service was as lovely as the weather. Special thanks to Angelo and his delicious cocktails, we will be back for more.
G. R.
Really nice pub in an amazing location. Big beer garden, lots of nice drinks on draught. Cozy and well decorated.
Only issue were the men's toilet smelt really bad and both the stalls where disgusting with broken locks.
More regular toilets checks and a little maintenance wouldn't go amiss!!
C.
Good service but the place smells of cigarette inside, food is not great, expensive because of location at front of cutty sark, although no view.
S. U.
Lovely quirky place, good food, nice vibe.
d.
Lovely pub, staff very friendly and welcoming, very nice atmosphere
C. B.
I always enjoy coming to the Gipsy moth - nice food, drinks and atmosphere but my most recent visit was made better by Marzia. She was so lovely and accommodating, going above and beyond! I will definitely return once it reopens
J. B.
I stopped here for a couple of beers after Cutty Sark. Nice folks, cozy place and good beer. Thumbs up
M. T.
Lovely service and nice fresh food.
J. H.
Nice pub with a massive beer garden right next to the Cutty Sark. Didn't eat but the food looked pretty decent!
T. R.
Lovely afternoon would definately recommend
I.
Nice and quiet pub, probably a little be pricey for food quality but still
H. F.
Excllent food. Lovely venue.
Dog friendly!!!
H.
A nice little pub right by the river. Ideally you want to sit in the beautiful beer garden before or after a nice walk down past the river.
L. L.
Big pub wonderfully located in the heart of Maritime Greenwich. Great places to sit all year round with a few large rooms inside and a terraced patio with tables at different levels outside.
It’s an attractive place with traditional pub style and character. It attracts tourists from near and far as well as locals and does get full often. The staff to deal with that numbers well but if you want a good choice of table come early or be prepared to wait a little while.
The menu is decent offering good traditional pub food. And the beer is good too.
K. C.
We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday on Monday evening. Our table service was provided by Marcus who was absolutely brilliant and gets 10/10. I was however slightly annoyed by the brash manager as when I asked (very politely) for a candle for the brownie I was about to buy, she responded very rudely “We don’t have any and if we did, we can’t coz of Covid” The same manager also didn’t bother to ask us to Track and Trace on arrival! If it wasn’t for Marcus’s attentiveness and friendliness, I would have reviewed this place a 2.
C. B.
This is a staple of Greenwich but in covid times it is possibly better. Really good table service. Extremely pleasant staff on duty last night. We were lucky to get a table at short notice. Very pleasant experience.
T. L. S.
Absolutely AMAZING
Came here for our second anniversary drinks and the service was impeccable.
We were seated at the back table overlooking the conservatory which gave direct access to the back doors leading to the Cutty Sark.
I bought balloons and cupcakes in and was asked if I needed any help setting up. Water, glasses and side plates were speedily provided.
The atmosphere was great, the customers were diverse and the music was modern.
Would definitely recommend and return.
We had to pay a deposit for the tables which was non refundable and forfeited if not used up but we used it as a bar tab so it worked perfectly for our occasion.
Thank you Ellie & Team
C. F.
Went with 2 dogs and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Great garden in the sun, good selection of beers and fun atmosphere
T.
Very large outdoor space with umbrellas and even heaters for cold days. Nice cocktails and great atmosphere.
C. G. J.
Good drinks selection, mostly nice staff, nice seating areas and a lovely view of the Cutty Sark.
N. F.
My favourite Greenwich pub. Good food, good drink, lovely garden. The toilets felt like a luxury!
H. M.
Came here for a Sunday roast and wasn’t disappointed. Had the roast beef which was perfectly cooked. The flavour from the red wine jus mixed perfectly with the trimmings. The cauliflower cheese was really good too. We arrived here just before 12 and it quickly filled up so I’d recommend making a reservation or getting here as early as possible.
K. H.
Staff attentive, food lovely, nice outdoor seating area and good beer.
S. W.
Very nice pub beside the cutty sark.. plenty of room and friendly staff
J. H. U.
As pubs go, this is one of the better ones in terms of food. Nothing fancy, just normal pub fare, but well prepared and presented. Definitely not the 'made yesterday and reheated' variety.
But it is right in the middle of a tourist area, so be prepared to wait for a table and then stand in a numbingly slow queue to get service at the bar.
P. K.
Eating here was nice experience. Great place for Sunday lunch which was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful and followed all covid regulations. Highly recommended and got nicest service plus food.
K. C.
Standard menu to choose from with a specials board. Had the beef and amber ale pie which was good. The burger was tasty but a bit on the dry side. Nice selection of beers.
Amazingly happy and friendly bar staff which really set a positive mood.
Great way to spend an afternoon.
M. G.
Great, tasteful food with a lovely atmosphere to boot. Fantastic garden too.
A. I.
Excellent fish and chips, good variety of ipa
s.
Not the best place to have roast. Very lively bar and place. Good atmosphere however they lack in attention to detail when it comes to service as two people got served before me. Hard to distinguish if managers are present or not. Table service is adequate as they only bring your food and do one check back. Would definitely go back again but only for drinks.
M. S.
Really nice pub... I have been there Sunday 7 April 2019 with my friends and the atmosphere it's was very good!! Full of people!! Friendly staff and fast that serve really good food (we have order some burger and some dessert)... surely I'll be back soon!!
B. M.
great pub in greenwich, right next to Cutty Sark, always buzzing inside and out. decent pub food and good selection of all the usual
a. b.
Great food and atmosphere with a lovely garden. Highly recommend (though does get really busy of course)
D. P.
It was good yes, a lovely pint and a lovely beer garden. But the attraction to tourists appears higher than the attraction to locals. So for a quiet pint? Maybe not the best option. For a pint with plenty of atmosphere and cultural diversity? You bet ya.
J. L.
I would give 5/5 stars if the prices weren't so high. However, this place caters for families and serves food. It has good sized furnished garden area, each table accompanied with a potted flower. The layout inside caters for food at the back and drink at the front. However, you can sit as you please. Overall had good evening here and I'm sure others will too.
P. P.
I had a lovely time at the gypsy moth! I went in with a mate to have a pint and was treated lovely by the bartender kat! The pub is great, right near the water front and park so it’s the perfect pit stop in Greenwich. The pub is nice piece of history and I would suggest this to all my friends who come and visit! Being from America I didn’t know the Greenwich area that well but the Friendly service by the bartender stated above really was a nice treat! I will make sure to come back next time I’m in the UK!
F. H.
A well-decorated warm and welcoming pub in the middle of one of London's busiest areas. The food is simply delicious and never seems to disappoint. I just love their brownies with ice cream on a hot summer day. The atmosphere and staff are both great. It is decorated very well with a lot of attention to detail and care and the staff are always very kind and helpful. A truly great place, even though the prices are a bit high.
J. E.
Reasonably priced busy pub with beer garden and views of the famous Cutty Sark ship.
R. G.
Pros:
Amazing beer garden.
Amazing views.
Wide drinks selection.
What looks to be a large menu (never eaten here but I wouldn't expect gourmet)
Central in Greenwich so great for a quick pint
Cons:
I don't much like the ambience.
Feel a bit like a chain pub which I don't like
I'm really not sure but I generally wouldn't come here in the evenings. It's hard to put a finger on it. Afternoon pint is great. I think I just don't like the kind of place it is in the evenings
M. B.
Lovely spot for a refreshing drink after slogging around Greenwich. Welcoming staff and shaded table in garden
M. O.
I went to the Gipsy Moth during a pub crawl we organised when I was a student during the winter 2018. I just ordered a couple of beers and the place is amazing. It's a new concept to me. Next time I visit London I'll be there again for sure.
Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴☺️
K. A.
Excellent pub food, and very cosy garden.
H. F.
This place looks like the inside of a ship, visually a lovely looking pub inside and out.
Nice beer garden and in a great location.
But unfortunately the drinks are very over priced and this wasn't made any better by the snooty barmaid who served me. The sort of people who look you up and down and tut. Wasn't made to feel welcome at all.
D. G.
Biggest problem with the pub is there is no where near enough seating, if you're looking to go on a weekend I would resign yourselves to sitting outside, however during the week you will have more of a chance. Food is over priced drinks are expensive but nothing you wouldn't expect from a tourist spot.
M.
Food is a little over priced for what it is, but quite tasty. Drinks are over priced. Decor is very nice and the first half of my meal was quite lovely. 4 people stood over myself and my date making us feel very uncomfortable for 20 minutes watching us eat. The staff clearly saw this several times and did nothing. I won't be going there again.
m. s.
Amazing views of the cutty sark, and of the city.
The seating area is outstanding
P. T.
Lovely pub, great food and the staff are brilliant. It's busy so book.
D. A.
Great pub! Good selection of beers, ales, and ciders. Lots of atmosphere inside with comfortable nooks and crannies. I love the garden especially. It can get pretty hot inside in the Summer though, but hey, that's Summer for you.
M. N.
The Gipsy Moth is hands down an amazing place to have drinks, to enjoy and live some happy moments with your friends.
I personally prefer sitting out in the backside area to enjoy the views of the mighty Cutty Sark and Canary Wharf while sipping on one of the many amazing choices on offer.
The staff is pleasingly friendly and helpful. The food on the other hand is no different at all.
The atmosphere over here has always been lively. So, make sure you pay them a visit whenever you visit Greenwich and have that urge and craving for a drink or two.
J. C. (. b. h.
Nice pub. Little spenny though.
S. V.
This pub is strategically located; it has a great atmosphere and beautiful views for The Cutty Sark from the outdoor area - a lovely garden bar with wooden tables and benches. Great variety of alcoholic beverages and a tasting menu. Helpful and friendly staff. As a local, The Gipsy Moth is one of my favourites and usually my first option to spend time with friends. I highly recommend it.
S. N.
Cracking beer garden. Perfect sun trap for a weekend afternoon and a few beers. Pretty busy though so get there early if you want a table outside, even inside was really busy! The bar service was slow. Not particularly huge queues but the staff were slow. Also lots of spots you could stand and wait that formed queues only to be told they didn't serve at that part of the bar - buy a sign?
L. W.
Lovely staff, great atmosphere!
A. F.
Lovely pub food, excellent service.
C. B.
Really good pub. nice location overlooking the Cutty Sark with a good range of beers, wines and spirits.
Food is decent and reasonably priced, I had the vegan lasagna and I couldn’t recommend highly enough! Only thing I’m confused of though is why the chips and fries are not marked as vegan, only vegetarian? No biggy though.
Because of the location being so good, the pub unsurprisingly got packed with city workers and tourists on the Saturday evening we visited. Me and my pregnant and very jet lagged fiancé couldn’t find a table initially but our server (think her name was Cat) pointed out to us where the pub would be a bit less quiet and could find a seat. She was very kind and patient despite it being so busy and she also had a little chat and a joke with me and my wife whilst she got us our drinks and took our food order. Little goes a long way and her being so friendly greatly improved our experience and we will be returning!
PS: try the meantime beer! So good!
K. C.
Really lovely food and nice service. But I ordered the belly pork and at £16 I'd have expected a larger portion. And it was served without vegetables! Mash, but no veg! What was given to me was lovely but it was tiny!
C. W.
Given this place is right on the tourist drag, it's actually pretty good. Staff were attentive and the food was better than average.
m. n.
Went with my partner there, lovely place, very friendly for a Sunday roast with friends or family, very quick service. Staff friendly and food good. I had a beef burger wich was well cooked and really nice clunky chips. Also pudding was good, served with amazing hazelnuts icecream with lots of hazelnuts. All in one very I had good time at The Gipsy Moth.
R. 7.
Awesome pub, I met some locals and had a great time visiting with them. They have tons of tap beer that's very fresh and very broad range of them, they'll have something to make you happy!
That's for the friendly service and clean restrooms!
J. C.
Great pub right in the view of the Cutty Sark. Lovely beer garden with plenty of seating outside. Good food and fast service even though they were very busy. Outdoor barbecue was a great touch - burgers cooked to perfection. Pints a bit pricier than average but well worth it. Great pub.
G. Q.
Great pub, food is good quality and staff pleasant to deal with. Dog friendly venue but it gets full very quickly as it's super popular and a fantastic location. Outdoor area is nice for having a pint on a sunny day.
m. s.
Food is okay, nothing special.
They were not proper chips with the fish and "chips" but fries and too much batter on the fish. Menu is maybe trying too hard, not particularly traditional. Good selection of beers though
G. C.
Great little pub right by The Cutty Sark, with a warm atmosphere and a traditional English pub vibe. Great menu including vegan options. Unfortunately my GF couldn't order her vegan option as they'd run out of the beyond burger, along with the chorizo for myself. But the cheeseburger I chose in the end was fantastic. Well worth the money and time.
A. K.
Edit - to clarify why I've said this. I was enjoying a beverage in the garden with my fiance when one of the staff members hit her on the head with a chair, whilst moving it for another client. After a half-apology the staff member walked away. I appreciate accidents happen but the staff member's conduct after the "hit" was uncalled for!
Second Edit - after having a day to calm down about the whole thing, and the response from The Gipsy Moth, I can genuinely say some really nice people work there, and that's not worth overlooking due to a small incident. Good food, good beer, great location - all a pub needs really.
s. O.
Great vibe, nice staff but a bit pricey
S. V.
Been there many a time for lunch. Never disappointed. Well organised, really nice pizzas.
L. H.
Have increasingly gravitated to this place for a drink and food if out locally. Sea bass with gnocchi was delicious (couldn't fault).
Sourdough a little too sour yesterday and the water cress it came with tasted bit perfumed but otherwise rest of food was lovely.
Nice outside space also larger than I realized.
N. N.
Great pub with a lovely atmosphere. My boyfriend really enjoyed sitting in the corner and people watching for several hours. I really enjoyed several glasses of mulled wine on a very cold winters evening. Sadly the rude obnoxious barman let down the visit from a full five star review.
H. W.
Great ambience and lovely outdoor seating. Fish and chips okay but not amazing. All the usual beers on tap. Fantastic view of Cutty Sark from the terrace. The most tasteful bathrooms I have encountered at a pub.
T. F.
Superbly situated, tastefully decorated. Good selection of keg beers and lagers. Appalling selection of cask beers - the usual unimaginative London pride and Doom bar. Food is good, simply well made pub food, roasts on Sunday but gets extremely busy so they often run out by 3pm. The large garden must be a goldmine when the sun is shining. Rock and roll Playlist. The staff are young but inevitably temporary, good humoured but were overworked on Sunday so standards slipped a bit. Lush pub though... Great for groups - you can book an area if you want.
R. C.
Fairly okay pub, but I feel it wouldn't survive if it wasn't for it's location. Drinks are pretty expensive, but we didn't even look at the food menu as it was too early for us to eat. Sat in the garden to drink and it was pretty busy at the time, but we got the impression we were expected to leave immediately after the last drop in the glass was gone. Nice location, decent enough garden, staff only okay. Judging by the other reviews though I am willing to accept that the staff might have just had a bad day.
K. K.
Great pub right in the heart of the Cutty Sark tourist area in Royal Greenwich. Has indoor seating as well as a fantastic outdoor garden area looking right out to the Cutty itself. On a summer's day the outdoor area can't be beat with a fantastic environment. When I visited staff were friendly and helpful too.
S. A. (. B.
Lovely Gastro pub, clean, well presented, friendly staff, disabled facilities, child friendly, very relaxing atmosphere, knowledgeable staff of both the menu, drinks and the local area around Greenwich, outside dining area, smoking area, pay and display secure parking 50 meters away. Disabled parking outside. Food was great, great for tourists. The staff had a problem with some tourists and asked if anyone in the restaurant could speak their language ( I could and had to translate)
Google translate was useless lol
After I could see the staff were so grateful
As although they didn’t understand the tourist they really wanted to help.
Going that extra bit ! Well done!
Next time I’m in Greenwich I’ll be back for sure.
Well done to management you’ve got a great team.
J. H.
Amazing, beautiful pub, team so friendly great food and drinks, will definitely be back !!!
D. C.
Nice pub, good beer!
J.
Nice traditional style pub, with a nautical feel, matching Greenwich's maritime history, and being almost next door to the Cutty Sark, so seems most appropriate.
The pub has a good selection of beers, and if you go at the right time, would be quite cosy... Unfortunately, if you go at the wrong time, you'll end up standing in cramped conditions with your pint, despite the fact that it has a terraced beer garden, and an outside drinking area.
F. M.
I really enjoyed this venue, great atmosphere and a lovely outdoor area. Great location and friendly staff
S.
Very nice pub in the heart of Greenwich, used to come here years ago, but moved away and it was nice to see th place again, my how its changed and for the better, we had a good day to visit on a week day, and the view of th cutty sark is very nice and adds to the ambiance of a very nice pub.
Lots of choice of all craft bits and bobs, top place.
A. O.
Great atmosphare. Good service. Highly recomended.
O. S.
Nice Pub located just beside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
Good social distancing measures in place.
Friendly staff and prompt service.
Has both indoor and outdoor seating and tables.
We visited just for drinks before heading off to Lunch in Greenwich.
We enjoyed Expresso Martini's followed by a nice Bottle of The Velvet Devil.
A very nice American Merlot.
Great location to meet friends and family. We shall certainly visit again.
M. Á. G.
Lovely atmosphere, nice food, gets a bit crowded on weekends and evenings, but has a great beer garden for a Pimm's during the summer month and has amazing views of the Cutty Sark. Prices reasonable for the area
J. C.
My wife and I love this pub, largely on account of it being the only one serving Fruli anywhere nearby.
The atmosphere is great, and, if you can get a seat, the beer garden is lovely in summer. The food seems reasonable, though I've only eaten here a few times.
There is ALWAYS a queue to get served, regardless of time of day, and the often seem unable to accept card payments - weird.
It is one of our favourites, but it is inadequately staffed.
E. s.
Great pub with a large selection of beer and a good looking menu (although yet to eat here), can get quite busy but it has a good atmosphere, definitely worth a stop off
P.
Just popped in for a quick pint, it was too hot inside to stay and rhe beer garden was full.
A. W.
Lovely location and set up both inside, and outside. The roast was delicious.
N. E.
lovely xmas atmosphere and our server (good looking tattoo guy) was absolutely fantastic, great energy and quick, he made our visit special.. food and drinks good too
S. T.
Beautiful place, friendly staff and cosy beer garden, a great place to stop off on your travels or have a chilled night with your friends. I had the Stella and it was crisp, fresh & Ice cold, had a great time catching up with family and look forward to visiting again!
M. C.
It's a nice old bar next to cutty sark
V. G.
Great service and the food was delicious!
G. F.
More of a month than a gypsy, keep the taps pouring Peoples.
J. M.
Lovely to support a pub that's not part of a bigger franchise. Great drinks, pub garden and really nice classic pub food- however the last few times I've visited the music has been really loud- on weekday evenings not Saturday nights- so it's been hard to hear conversations.
L. C.
Food was good. Service was ok.
B. M.
Good pub, with garden. Excellent views of the Cutty Sark, and a nice clientele. Have started mulled wine for the child season, and have local London beers. Inside decor is pleasant, and the staff are friendly.
G. F.
Great setting looking up at the cutty Sark, and good choice of beer. Didn't eat on this occasion but food looked good and plenty of diners around. Beer prices are a bit pricey but not off putting, I would return when I'm next in Greenwich.
S. B.
Hands down nicest pub toilets I have ever been in! The pub has a freindly and warm feel.Serves cocktails along side the normal beers and wines.
C. F.
This is the best pub in london. The food is amazing, especially the sunday roasts. The staff are all very friendly. I definitely recommend going around christmas time as it gets decorated and is super cosy and christmassy! If not then during the summer there is a great beer garden to enjoy the sun in.
M. S.
Lovely garden and atmosphere, great selection of beers.
S. S.
Ideally placed next to the Cutty Sark. Their website is inaccurate; opens at 12pm almost every day, rarely, rarely earlier, so don’t go beforehand or you’ll be waiting. Also, they usually open with the minimum amount of staff behind the bar and often people are queuing outside waiting for them to open so there is a big rush to the bar and further waiting. They cater more for tourists who won’t get fed up with their erratic opening times. But I’m local and I still go regularly because it’s just such a pleasant pub to be in. Great garden for Summer and spacious throughout. The food menu is uninventive and doesn’t change often but that is fine if you are just passing through Greenwich as it’s generally tasty and not at all bad on quality. Due to the stagnant menu I rarely eat here and only come for a pint, which is why I am bothered heavily by the opening times, though for occasional visitors this is a lovely venue for a drink and something to eat.
S.
Right next to Cutty Sark. Lovely bub great atmosphere. Love the garden in summer. New years eve was very noisy and drinks are always pricey but so nice to visit when i come back to my old home town.
D. T.
Friendly service and good food. Sunday roast is average. It lacks a good selection of real ales, they will just have a couple of them at a time.
The decoration is nice and the space if big, so even when full it does not feel over packed.
A. M.
Good selection of craft beers and ciders. Helpful staff with quick service. Excellent gnocchi & seabass dish. Very rich steak pie. Prices in keeping with Greenwich
D. L.
Excellent place with great atmosphere and location to many attractions
A. J. M.
The place is almost like a Labyrinth. Once you are through the door it goes from one room to another through to an outside seating area at the back. If a place could be judged by the number of its patrons, then TGM is popular. There were hardly anywhere to sit and we had to share a table with other people. It has a great atmosphere and lightimg is somewhat subdued and sombre, not ideal if you like bright lights and staff to be aware of your presence, rather than locked in their own world. However, if all you want is somewhere to rest and refuel, then the place is yours. So chill out and forget the mad world outside for a few moments. Enjoy.
T. A.
A great local pub in a very unique setting, next to the ancient Cutty Sark (a British tea clipper built in 1869). The Old Royal Naval college site is now home to the University of Greenwich and the architecture is immensely dramatic.
The pub offers great selection of drinks and they make a mean gin+tonic! No substandard gin found here (which I love). The food smelt fabulous too but didn’t try so cannot really comment.
The staff are warm and welcoming. The beer garden is a good sun-trap great for those Sunday afternoons.
This one is an old favourite when I’m in Greenwich town.
A. B.
Good beer great staff. Fantastic view from the beer garden
G. M.
Tourist place. Food is average. Could be so much better with a few inexpensive tweeks. Brioche bun with burger is not brioche! An ordinary burger bun. Dressing on salads .... you use too much oil! Otherwise atmosphere is good. Will check you out again to see if you've improved 😉
J. N.
Amazing pub. .with a beautiful decoration and a really nice environment. .
The location is also really good and at least for me it's the only chance of beeing in a pub with an amazing ship full of history next to us. .
But the best of the pub is really without any doubt in my opinion the best staff in all London. .
Clearly one the last pearls in london. .
F. S.
Great food, good atmosphere in garden for alfresco dining. Lots of patio heaters to keep warm.
M. R.
Very popular place. Friendly accommodating staff. However the fish and chips we had and the fish with gnocci were quite ordinary. Not much of a flavour to speak of. Thank goodness for the vinegar bottle provided
J. D.
Classic Greenwich pub, which is a hit with locals and visitors, but which can mean it can get very busy - especially at weekends.
The beer selection is good, with plenty of options on tap (including ales) and craft beers and ciders in the fridge. The menu is always good and food doesn’t disappoint, though it can be a little expensive compared to other places in the area.
If this is your first trip to Greenwich, the Gypsy is a must-visit, with a superb beer garden including excellent views of the Cutty Sark.
T. B.
Love this pub for the beer garden and the views of the Cutty Sark but booked a table for Sunday lunch only to be told at 4p.m. they have no roasts left. ? W.T.F. Went to the Admiral and had a lovely roast.
h.
Three star as a pub, but that’s only because it’s inevitably rammed due to its location. Great place to grab a drink after visiting Greenwich and you get an imposing view of the Cutty Sark from the garden. Recommended.
O. D.
The pub is next to Cutty Sark in Greenwich. We visited him for lunch. It offering nice traditional food - burgers, fish and chips, pies and so on.
Service is good and food comes pretty fast. The tables, however, are a bit narrow.
It's generally a good place for lunch if you're in Greenwich.
A. R.
I have come here repeatedly and it has never disappointed. Great for few drinks with friends or a quick drink in the sun, outside with the Cutty Sark in view. Staff are friendly and helpful. The garden closes earlyish because of neighbouring residents, but you can sit by the side of the pub or inside.
H. S.
This is a lively enough bar/restaurant but I can't say I was impressed with either food or drinks... The chips are standard freezer produce and the fish whilst having a reasonable batter was tasteless
E. F.
A very nice pub with tasty Burgers.
T. M.
Good pub and decent selection of drinks. Great outdoor space but gets really busy in the summer. One of my favourite bars for winter time though
J. M.
The façade of an old pub with modern interiors, really good food, cosy al fresco area, prices not bad.
M. F.
An almost perfect location in Greenwich. Close to the Cutty Sark. Large beer garden with a lot of plants, large interior in classic pub style. Nice staff, though not very efficient. For every dish they served, they forgot cutlery.
The food was generally good or decent, except the triple fried chips that were very dry and mealy. Medium size selection of ales.
M. A. K.
Sat in the courtyard, had fish and chips with an IPA. It was nice.
S. W.
Visited for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Did a great veggie breakfast as well as the full English version. Staff really friendly and helpful. Not cheap but hey its London near a big tourist attraction. We thought it was good value given its location and the grub was great.
S. W.
We visited here on our way home from Greenwich. We had a good experience. This pub has a good range of ciders. This pub is very busy and seating is basic but functional with options to sit outside, the pub would however benefit from more seating as people were having to share tables.
J. A.
Great service and once you have made one order on the website the staff can make further orders for you. Very cool way of doing things!
J. A.
Love this place. Right next to the Cutty Sark, the beer garden actually over sees the ship. Great during the summer or winter for a pint with mates, a glass of wine with your special one, or a meal. Good range of beers on tap including craft beer.
M.
Cask marked beer, excellent gins and good bogs too, what's not to like? Good place to come if you cycled to Greenwich and are wary of leaving your bike chained up in public. Plenty space in the beer garden
I. F.
I'd say this is one of the best pubs in London. One of those pubs where you really want to take your friends that come over from your hometown to visit London. The atmosphere and the vibes in the pub are absolutely lovely. Friendly, fun and very helpful staff. The view on the Cutty Sark is lovely and very romantic.
Recommend this to everyone.
C. B.
Nice and clean place, helpful friendly staff, the only downside is it was a bit expensive
B. M.
Good pub food, staff coping well with social distancing ,service was attentive .
N. G.
Good service but boy do you pay for it.
G. E.
Large touristy pub by the City Dark ship. A reasonable place to stop for a daytime pint and some food. Nice beer garden and okay atmosphere. Quite expensive but it's a Greenwich hotspot so that's to be expected.
B. C.
It was very busy, but we managed to perch at a table. Didn't eat, but the food looked good. Really great selection of beer which satisfied everybody's taste. Next time we visit, we're definitely going to try the food.
F. L.
Well located, great garden, and good food with a traditional feel. On the expensive side and usually very busy so tables can be hard to come by. Fantastic in the summer with the back garden with views of the Cutty Sark just steps away.
B. C.
Great food, drinks ,atmosphere and location.
N. M.
Lovely pub. Excellent service from Marcus. Thanks for being so accommodating.
j. b.
Located near the Thames in the shadow of the Cutty Sark’s rigging geometry and named after Francis Chichester’s ketch, honouring his illustrious 1967 achievement.
Typical English pub interior with a pleasant outside ‘garden’ area.
A reasonable range of drinks with a nod to the craft brewing trend.
Typical contemporary pub fare that keeps abreast without outpacing or challenging the norm or expectation.
Service is industry efficient and friendly.
Animated and convivial here.
E. C.
Only one member of staff behind bar during busy sunny day. Long wait. Otherwise it was nice enough and lovely location. Beer garden was OK but had a really dark dingy corner, waste of space imo.
R. P.
Great food, decent selection of beers. Service a little slow at times, but then it is a busy pub (time your trips to the bar when it has quiet moments!)
A. G.
Amazing view by the river. Excellent atmosphere every day all day. The bar staff are friendly. Cosy and warm feeling. Perfect for dates, meeting friends, sitting alone and wanting to have a good time.
F. P.
I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent food and staff at The Gypsy Moth. Highly recommend. Ask for the Gluten free or Vegan menu. Food was excellent, we had the Sea Bass, Chicken Ceasar, and the Chicken Leek Mushroom pie.
M. M.
very nice - you won't realise how big the place is until you venture on. Quite a large restaurant area. Good food - adequate portions and not to large. pleasant staff and reasonable prices. would recommend
D. S.
Busy Saturday night, great atmosphere, good regular beers and a few guest ones.could do with another bar staff member on such a busy night but not a serious problem, just makes the ones working look seriously miserable 🤔, surely there's no shortage of people looking to earn a crust.
S. W.
Use to work for m&b teams doing amazing ques go down quickly and service is still friendly and welcoming. 4 of 8 womens out of order understandable it happens. I just have a problem that I came at 8 and no tissue but was rectified quickly when mentioned to the staff.
D. P.
So the Gipsy Moth seems to have two sets of people, those that love it, for it being dark, old, having history, then there are those that loathe it for it being dark and dingy, full of people you wouldn’t mix it.
I am part of the former group, I always have a good time, drinks are reasonable, rarely a place to sit, but there’s always somewhere to stand and the location is pretty perfect and a good meeting spot if you are heading into Greenwich for the day.
They have real ales on top, so if you are looking for something a bit different to most pubs, you will enjoy it, the darkness adds to the ‘ambience’ so pretty good for a first date.
T. Y.
Gets very busy and loud on certain nights, so if you want somewhere to grab a sit-down meal instead of just some drinks, this might be too loud for you. Otherwise, this place has good food, good drinks and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Well located too.
D. S.
Cozy pub. Friendly bartenders and staff.
G. I.
Excellent location next to the iconic Cutty Sark. It is usually busy and difficult to get a table. During summer because of the tourists, during winter because it's on a nice location and everyone crawls in there to warm up and have a pint. Good pub.
B. S.
Great little spot for a few drinks on a Sunday. Sat outside and received good service. Brilliantly positioned for the delights of Greenwich
p. s.
For a pub next to a main tourist trap the Cutty Sark, this is a really good pub. Beer is kept well, food is value for money and just what you'd expect from a British pub. There's outdoor seating and food is served out there too. The views are stunning as your backdrop is the Cutty Sark so selfies and group pics are a synch. The pub is well laid out and easily accessible to all. So to all you Dad's out there, pay for the wife n kids to go on the Cutty and you kick back and enjoy a few Bevvies in this great little pub.
S. C.
Given the huge beer garden out the back, it can get pretty busy on summer afternoons. However, with the great view of the Cutty Sark, decent food and a solid selection of drinks, it's a pretty good place to park yourself for a while.
R. E.
What a pub, it's tourist friendly but yet it caters for the locals. Great beers on tap and doesn't shy away from the occasional black sambuca. I'm a fan
J. C.
A very nice pub in Greenwich. The meal we chose was not to our satisfaction although I am aware they are reviewing the menu so always worth a try.
B. F.
A really nice pub next to the Cutty Sark fantastic beer garden good range of drinks along with excellent food. The staff are extremely hard working and always smile. Well recommended.
H. W.
Such a wonderful place to grab a bite and sit back with a decent pint. Very welcoming to us with our three children. Thank you for being so helpful!
J. D.
I love the beer garden on a sunny day, with lovely views of the Cutty Sark. At night the pub feels like a tavern from Moonfleet. Food is good. Only detractors are it can be quiet busy. The bar staff are slow and curt.
R. H.
Nice enough pub with a good selection of drinks. However, they struggled with serving the number of customers, there was a very slow moving queue for the bar. Although it was Saturday night in Greenwich!
D. L.
Great place for Sunday lunch which was delicious...staff were very friendly and helpful and followed all covid regulations. Sat outside in the sun...lovely
D. A.
This place has changed SO much since I went as a teenager. very cool, quite hipster, helpful friendly staff. Right by the tube and the river. Food looked good, but didn't eat.
D.
Love this place in summer. They run an outdoor bbq and you're sitting in the garden with a cold beer and some bbq... As good as it gets. Although it may appear full when you get there, there's good circulation of guests so tables free up all the time and you don't have to wait for long. Worth visiting when in the area.
D. B.
Tasty, fresh food with friendly staff.
The girl on the floor was very friendly and there was a good group of people in the place. I would really recommend this place for something simple yet satisfying.
Will be back!
A. R. (.
Just had a bangin burger and brew. This place delivers the goods! Great atmosphere, great beer and great food. Stop by if you're on your way to Greenwich. You won't regret it.
J. B.
Lovely pub. It's touristy, it's gastro. Hey, it's Greenwich. It has views of the Cutty Sark from the beer garden so what more do you want. If you're a tourist and you want a pint of English beer in an English pub then come here.
L. B.
Poor choice of drinks but nice to just nip into after having a walk around Greenwich for one or two drinks
D. S.
This pub has a very good atmosphere and great food. With an great beer garden for them hot days, you can enjoy a beer in the sun. It is positioned in a great location that looks over the stunning Cutty Sark and only a few minutes walk from the university of greenwich.
C. B.
Charming pub with great outdoor seating. And the Sunday roast was fantastic!
D. W.
Really lovely, cosy pub which on a cold November day was just perfect. Had a spiced wine smell on our entrance which was great. The IPA was a decent enough pint.
A. A.
Fabulous pub just on the edge of the river. Happy friendly people serving great beers. Would have stayed longer but needed to catch the return boat back in London.
P. R. G.
I would have loved to have given this place a higher rating were it not for one issue. Yes I can confirm this place is good to go to and I shall return. I think. However one issue last night really vexed me. We where drinking choice pale ales (very good) but there wine selection was limited to say the least. No french or even south African chardonnay . I mean really. At £10.00 per large glass one would expect they could at least get that right! oh and btw, they dont do cocktails......But that wasn't my main concern, we ordered a share platter at £28.00, duck pate and a selection of meats and olives however... wait for it...NO BREAD. Yep NO BREAD. The only bread on the platter was the sour dough the camembert was cooked in (btw way cooked very well), the sour dough been burnt outside was no concern as it was merely a holding/cooking vessel for the cheese. So. I asked the waitress for some bread to go with the platter (heaven forbid), she looked at my dismissively and told me I need to "order at the bar" I went to the bar told the barman that the platter as no bread and could we have some please. He said fine, 2 minutes later he comes to the table with out any bread to inspect the platter, he then proceeded to point closely at the sour dough and say "well there's bread there" I told him that the sough dough is for holding the cheese and burnt outside and we need bread for all the platters - Honestly it felt like an interrogation, in fact - it was. He leaves and the returns to the table and THROWS 4 small pieces of bread of the table on the small plate with a thud! and as I looked up he already had his back to us walking away without saying a single word. It was very very poor service to say the least and a situation badly handled. Like it actually upset us, the whole thing.
B. S.
Great place to spend time on a really hot day before an England world-cup quarter final on the terrace under their awnings. The sausage & mash is epic. Been there in mid-winter in the wind and rain too when it's cosy. And, it's in Greenwich next to the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum, and nearby the Royal Observatory: all great and underrated destinations.
M. S.
Nice food and good selection of drinks. Been coming here for years and it's always consistently good. The garden is brilliant and thanks to heaters can be used all year.
D. H.
I had a really good pre lockdown meal here. Outside as we were a multi household group but still fun despite the cold.
S. E.
A lovely traditional pub.
J. M.
The pub is a great area but incredibly busy on most days, I managed to get a table and enjoyed the atmosphere. The beer garden is also really nice with lots of seating.
R. F.
If you want to go to the best place in Greenwich you have to visit The Gipsy Moth... very good place to taste the Brit concept of a Bar! I cannot get tired to come to this place! Nice food, nice drinks, nice atmosphere!
C. D.
Beer garden is lovely in summer. It is on the corner near the Cutty Sark. Nice atmosphere. The food looked good although we didn't eat there.
J. c.
Excellent lovely pub atmosphere.....a nice lively buzz! Food great and reasonably priced and staff very friendly! Would def go again! 😀
m. m.
I booked a table for 14 people on a Monday afternoon. No hassle booking, staff were good, food was very nice, beer was very good.
Not just a tourist trap but a genuine nice pub.
H. B.
Great spot, good ales and our, with a view.
X. S.
Service is lacking badly. This place has a history of employing slow and miserable people. A bit pricey. But it's a nice place despite it's negatives. The crowd gives it a good atmosphere. Garden is pretty.
B. V.
Nice pub, friendly, goid service & safety mesure covid19..enough space outside
M. T.
It was very busy but managed to sit and enjoy the sun in the garden. Great views of rhe Cutry Sark. Food was good but pricey, colelaw was too salty. Not overpriced for such a tourist trap. Great atmosphere.
D. D.
A great local pub with a really nice garden at the back. In the summer they have BBQ in the garden, which is a great idea. Always lively and has a wide range of drinks and great food.
E. A.
Good food, nice terrace.
J. S.
Excellent location and dreamy beer garden. The food is not too shabby either. Popular with students = usually overcrowded at nights and understaffed to boot. One for lazy Sunday afternoons/evenings when all the youngsters are sleeping it off.
T. G.
A great pub situated right beside Cutty Sark. Great food and drink in this traditional London pub. Large pub inside and out. Plenty outdoor seating for you when the sun is shining!
M. I.
I like this pub because it’s open until late. Also it’s very spacious and plenty of seats outside. It’s really nice in summer as it’s next to cutty sark ship
C. S.
The interior is cosy by the entrance, but the massive conservatory is something a bit different (although this is mainly a restaurant). When the weather is nice, there's a large pub garden, right under the Cutty Sark, which is pretty special during both day and night.
K. M.
Good food, quick and very friendly service and decent drinks option. There's a great area to sit out back if you can find a table and all in all a really nice setting
J. G.
Great food and very helpful with an allergy.
T. S.
Cute little spot in a lovely area. Did not try the food but drinks and atmosphere were perfect for an evening with 3 friends catching up in a fun spot for an early Saturday evening meeting time.
Y. Y.
Great place to go for a drink with views of the cutty Sark nice garden outside. Don't have the food, poor quality for quite a price and very bad vegetarian options, just chips. The fish and chips are ok. Poor service.
S. C.
Amazing service from Robervaldo. I would definitely book again. Thanks very much!
m.
One of the favourite places when visiting Greenwich. Lovely garden and interior. Food was good on all occasions and fairly priced too. Can't fault it.
S. H.
Really suprised to see any bad reveiws! I had 3 small plates on the £13 deal, would have cost over £18 to have them seperately, the food was amazing, my son had burger, worth paying small amount extra for the double up option, it was a proper, obviously home made burger that he said was delicious.
The staff were all really lovely and seemed genuinely cheerful and happy to be working there.
Will definitely be making the bus trip from Bermondsey to Greenwich next time we stay in London just to eat at this fab pub.
Highly recommended!
L. D.
A lovely pug with a great variety of beer. Has a fantastic garden which acts like the perfect hiding place in the summer and a great spot in the winter with its heating units.
M. O.
Not running on all cylinders I'm afraid. The staff can't handle the demand. Nice location but due to this extremely touristy on weekends. The menu looks nicer than the food. Mediocre.
N. S.
Good busy atmosphere, lovely setting. Good beer too, and plenty of space for couples or large groups. Food is tasty but limited choice and very expensive.
L. D.
Really nice chilled place. They serve food and have restaurant at the back of the pub. Close to station and right in the heart of Greenwich. Would recommend
A. S.
Food fantastic and served very quickly. Staff very friendly and area over looks Cutty Sark. When we are in Greenwich next it will be our eating place
G. U.
Decor could do with updating but otherwise ok and food looked good
J. S.
Great pub! Food was good and arrived quickly, nice selection of beers. Thanks to Silvia for being so friendly and patient!!
Š. B.
Had a blast on our visit, host was very helpful and informative, will definitely return.
K. T.
First trip to a pub in almost 16 months. Enjoyed. Well organised.
D. B.
Great place to eat and drink. Had a nice beer and the fish and chips tasted nice. Plus the caramel and ice cream desert was tasty too.
B. P.
The Gipsy Moth is a great pub conveniently located right next to the Cutty Sark. The service isn't wonderful, but it gets the job done for an easy pint of two with friends. There's a rather large back garden perfect for summer and the food is better than most pubs in the area.
P. F.
On a bright summer's day, there a few views that could rival that of the Gipsy Moth's beer garden - looking out right at the Cutty Sark (whether you love or hate the way it's now presented, you can't deny it's striking!)
Although it is a little on the pricey side, especially for spirits, it is independent, and full of character - a perfect respite from bland identikit pubs like the ever present Wetherspoons. The food is good hearty fare, with as good a fish and chips as you can get south of the Pennines.
I last visited on a cold February night, after discovering that the park around the observatory wasn't open for that romantic stargazing trip as I had planned. This was a good substitute - the beer garden might have been chilly, but the atmosphere made it feel cosy. On an evening when the tourist crowds have ebbed away, it is pleasingly quiet and comfortable.
Avoid peak periods, like lunchtime on the most sunny days, and this pub is a lovely place to soak up some drinks and chat with friends.
A. A.
Very buddy and welcoming garden. Friendly service as well
A. B.
Cracking ale house serving good ales.
Did not sample the food but the meals being served looked scrumdidlyumptious.
Good vibe and a smashing bar crew.
Cheers.🍺🍷⚓
J. B.
Lovely gastropub with great atmosphere, good selection of beers and outdoor area if you need it! Right next to the Cutty Sark and other great Greenwich attractions. Recommended!
J. F.
Large pub with good selection of ales. Very nice beer garden out the back with lots of seating. Gets very very busy though, especially if the weather is good!
B. L.
After a long walk around Greenwich visiting Cutty Sark and Greenwich Observatory museum we pop into the Gipsy Mother for a quick drink to no surprise the child orange drink poured from the carton to a small glass cost £2.50? Nice views but you pay for it.
D. S.
Super range of beers. Good choice of reasonably priced pub grub. Brilliant, friendly staff all within the shadow of the stunning and historic Cutty Sark !
R. O.
Roast dinner on Sunday was superb, great views of the cutty sark from beer garden. Very busy so get in early afternoon or you'll miss your choice of roast
N. R.
Big & popular. Great location.
Big selection of beers, but often inexperienced & overwhelmed staff.
Popular with groups , tourists and those who haven't found the better local pubs off the beaten track.
K. A.
Great, bustling pub with a wide selection of craft beers and a good food menu. Beautiful place to sit out in the summer in particular
R. H.
The food was OK, but nothing special and fairly expensive. Also, if you have allergies, the online system is not very good - just ask at the bar for an allergy friendly menu.
R. K.
Well-prepared food, ordered at the bar then delivered to your table. The Gipsy Moth is convenient to visitors to the Cutty Sark or Royal Observatory. They offer a good selection of foods and beverages, service was fast and efficient.
D. O.
Great location. Hard if it starts to rain and you have a seat outside as there are more of them than inside. House wine is good beer is good food is good.
P. B.
Very nice pub, good food and wide choice of drinks. Crowded during weekends, definitely worth a visit.
P. C.
This pub trades on its location - the food was ordinary, and the drinks were very expensive. I'm from the north and I felt ripped off - come up here for decent food and drink at reasonable prices!
T. l.
Nice little pub.
Quite a bit of outdoor sitting space which was quite nice with greens everywhere.
Did not try to food so I can't much comment on it.
J. H.
Nice place, staff is very helpful and friendly. I always enjoy going there for a drink or fish and chips. Good music playlist too...
L. M.
Good food and drink, nice views, v busy and touristy but fine for a quick stop and refuel. Plenty of outside space, though on a sunny day you'll struggle to get a spot.
