Reviews of The Glasshouse Stores

Amazing space. Great crowd of patrons and atmosphere. Fabulous service with a friendly smile even while busy.
C. B. (.
A brilliant find on a not so sunny London trip! Great beer for this Camra duo was shot into the heavens with the stories of Old London from the Landlord who was witty, welcoming and very knowledgeable of our capital city. Do spend the time to go for a few beers, get some stories & relax in a good old English pub 🏴
H. V.
First night at London and definitely really nice, staff is very freindly and welcoming
Good beer choice to crown it all. Darts and (special) pool available :)
J. N.
Nice place for drink in Central London. Good choice of beers and reasonably priced
D. W.
Sam Smiths beer has never been good, generally quite bad really, but in the past it was cheap. Now it's fairly expensive, so really now it's just bad beer for the same price you can get better beer elsewhere.
This pub itself though is nice, old place with friendly staff.
R. V.
Great little pub, very authentic and original. Very valuable prices on drinks with a beautiful and unusual collection of beers. Perfect location for tourists as well as locals, as it is a bit off the beaten track... just perfect little place for gathering, drinks after work and small socials.
A. F. S.
Great pub with plenty of space downstairs and traditional pub food. Great for a catch up with friends as there's no music playing you don't have to shout to talk
G. D.
Excellent well greeted good service I would rate this pub to anyone
L. L.
Really nice diwn in the celler. Sadly closes diwn there. Upstairs a littke noisy.
I. B.
Small friendly pub. One of Soho's best secrets. Have been taking all the family for years, and always made to feel welcome!
t. w. j. f.
Very nice place love the photos on the wall cool place for a drink
P.
Nice old pub with reasonably priced beer, cider, and ale all on tap. Food is decent enough; just don't expect anything spectacular. Friendly staff, always helpful. Can become very busy towards the end of the week and on Saturday night's. No disability friendly facilities to speak of.
J. S.
Love this pub, it is what you expect from a Sam Smith's Pub. The staff are really friendly and there is always a good buzz about the place. Best of all is they have a Bar Billiards table. So much and if you've never played it before I strongly recommend you try, good for two or groups of people. They have the instructions there so not an issue of you've never played before. Aside from Bar Billiards they have darts and a host of other board games.
L. M.
Spacious and nice. Food is very good for a pub. Kind service.
K. A.
Fab pub with plenty of seating. Lovely selection of Samuel Smith's ales, stout, larger, fruit beers, spirits and mixers. Their stout is just like guiness and their ales are very flavoursome. I recommend trying a few before you buy. There is seating around the ground floor and downstairs after 6pm. Perfect for a quick pint and break when wandering around town and Soho.
Like this review if it was helpful.
M. P.
Surprisingly quiet for a Soho pub, even though it was a Monday night. But very pleasant as a result. Nice pint of Sam Smiths Stout at a very reasonable price for London and the usual other Sam Smiths options. Scratchings available and the location is not too far from main streets and various tubes.
P. S.
Very friendly staff, excellent service. Great place to go for a proper pub experience.
P. F.
Finally managed to find great place to play Billiards. Friendly staff and very good selection of ales on tap.
J. H.
Dropped in here with a friend on the Friday before Tier 2 restrictions came in to play, the lady & gentleman who run the pub were super professional, but also friendly, about asking people to adhere to rules, etc. Have been before during more "normal" times and it's always a great atmosphere. Highly recommend
D. E.
A great Sam Smith's pub. Very large with an extra bar downstairs. Very reasonably priced for the location as all Sam Smith's tend to be. Was very quiet when I visited early afternoon, but imagine it gets a bit rowdier later on. Didn't try any food.
D. G.
I came in yesterday with my other half as he said it was his favorite pub to come to. I could see why. Such friendly bar staff and a cosy and homely environment, perfect for a relaxing afternoon drink.
A really lovely pub! Would definitely be coming again!
R. J.
Good Sam Smith's, tends to have space
C. S. (. S.
Great pub with good food and good drink, however, more attention needs to be paid to security, as a maniac with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle charged into a meeting in the pub on 8 July 2008 and killed many people.
J. K.
My mate introduced me to this boozer years ago, its never let me down since. Its not fancy, doesnt need to be, the staff there are just laid back, nice people, the crowd is a mix of people of all ages. It gets cowded so be prepared to stand, but who cares, if you can walk to the pub, you can stand. If you go on a weekend afternoon its just so chilled out. There is a space downstairs as well, I prefer upstairs though. Sam Smiths pub, drinks are spot on. Also cheap, especially being in Soho.
T. L.
Very nice Pub in the earth of Soho!!! It s situated in Brewer Street and it s in two floor! Downstaris that's the kitchen and a bar with a large room available for eating or drinking
On the first floor instead there is a nice bar and a darts spot!
Very characteristic English pub with nice garden behind!! Recommended!
K. A.
Rated it highly. There's Samuel Smith beers on tap and they're v. affordable. Decor is about as English pub as it gets ft. red leather armchairs, dim lighting and a pool table. Big fan.
C. D.
A decent boozer full of craft and other speciality beers. The staff are friendly and helpful, giving you a tate of things to ensure that you like it first.
The place is nicely decorated in old style wood, but some of the seats have seen better days.
A decent place to stop for a quick drink.
C. B.
A nice traditional pub which is a lot larger than it looks from the outside. Drinks are cheap by central London standards (Pint of stout 3.90).
Comfortable seating and nice atmosphere.
k. k. s. c.
Lively place at 5/6pm. But great in the quiet early afternoon too. It's one of those great pubs whose interior gives no real idea of just how much room there is inside - lots of nooks and a cool cellar bar. Sam Smith's have been renovating a number of their London pubs recently, to disastrous effect. Leave this one alone, Sam Smith's!
E. N.
A rustic staple of pub culture, a stone's throw away from Piccadilly Circus, and with a distinct Soho feel. A large selection of Sam Smith beers, on tap and bottle, with comparable prices and good service. Food is available, not of gastropub quality, but goes well with the beers for an after-work session. The downstairs cellar pub is suited for private gatherings. A hidden gem!
s. d.
A pub that is friendly/relaxed/talkative rather than trendy/titivated/loud that has staff who serve with care. A mug of tea was possible along with board games, darts etc. A real mix of customers with no obvious cliques. Amazing that it is still like this slap bang in the middle of London - long may it not change!
A.
Great gaf but not too fond of the beverages on offer.
A. E.
Typical old London boozer. Friendly manager & great London Gin
H. B.
Visited here the last week, proper traditional London boozer, great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff working .Not many pubs /bars nowadays where you will see the Landlady/Landlord/Mgr working a shift behind the bar,in this pub you will!.She was extremely helpful in giving us directions for the theatre and museums for the following day, welcoming, friendly and chatting to everyone, while serving or collecting glasses, not being familiar with London we thoroughly enjoyed our visit just watching the comings and goings of people, regulars , workers, tourists all enjoying the good real ales ,food , boardgames ,great service and what I've always imagined a "Proper London Boozer" to be ! We enjoyed it so much we returned the following afternoon for fish and chips and they were Delicious!Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.
A. W.
A Sam Smith's pub which means all their own beer wine and spirits - this means sensible prices but maybe some disappointment if you are after a decent Islay malt. Old Brewery is well kept (can't speak to the other ales) the lagers are all pretty good and there is a decent selection of bottled beers as well.
Menu was updated last year and has some decent dishes and surprising dishes hidden in there - try the chicken katsu for instance. They serve until at least nine and the food arrives pretty quickly unless the place is really busy.
The pub can get pretty busy if a large group of tourist suddenly discovers the place, though groups generally find themselves directed downstairs where a decent sized cellar bar handles over spill.
There are a few board games behind the bar, there is a dart board and unusually a bar room billiards table as well.
T. W. E.
Best place to drink in London imo. Additionally it's the closest place in London I found to an irish pub. The atmosphere was cost and they had beers on tap that you can only get bottled Ireland, it's a stone's throw from piccadilly as well which is a bonus.
N. H.
Aldi Pub. Like other pubs, but much cheaper. Samuel Smith pubs have a style of their own, wood paneling and the beers are fine, there's a good choice and prices are fantastic for central London. The food is average pub fayre, but fills a hole.
I find this place a little quieter than the Duke of Argyle a few doors down, there's places to hide!
In light of recent articles in the UK press, the more foul mouthed of us better beware. Swearing is now strictly verboten in Samuel Smith pubs.
Is it a coincidence that the chain's initials are SS?
J. M.
Old style Sam Smith's pub with excellent selection of beer. A large downstairs bar is open at busier times. The beer is reasonably priced considering it is in the centre of London.
B. S.
Great pub, except for that one time on 8th July 2008 when a maniac with a ak47 semi automatic rifle turns up and gave the str‘s what they deserved.
R. M.
Good beer but there's no food at night 😔
B. T.
Sam Smith's pubs are the best. Really good beer and great value. Organic Alpine Lager is a must try!
G. S.
Good pub, nice friendly staff and reasonable prices for central London. The entrance does not give a very good impression of how big this place is. You'll find a good spot even at busy time.
R. G.
Proper pub, not posy, not instagrammy, just a nice place for a beer.
C. G.
Didn't have a good time on the 8th of July 2008 when a maniac with an AK47 showed up. I think it was something about a meeting going on, something to do with property. Other than that great pub.
C. T.
Seems small but has an extended backspace. Serves Sam Smith's beer with a surprisingly low cost per round. Staff are really friendly and helpful recommending a pint. Jolly sort of spot.
G. G.
A friendly and quaint British pub. Best seats are at the back next to the fireplace. And don't miss the very spacious seating downstairs. Good place for a pint with friends.
J. O.
Amazing hidden gem.. It looks smaller than it actually is too, plenty of space downstairs and at the back with an ancient billiard table and a dart board (probably ancient too..) It's also a Samuel Smiths pub, so reasonable prices for the location.. Recommended..
J. L.
An absolute gem among the proliferation of gastro pubs. Traditional boozer with lots of seating squirrelled away on different levels, in nooks and around corners. Great Samuel Smith beers and solid food.
J. H.
Surprisingly spacious Sam Smith's pub on Brewer Street, wherein the guy behind the bar who I assumed to be the landlord was a bit of a character. They have a bar billiards table at the back, and a darts board.
J. C.
A great Sam Smith pub - good beer (great prices) and good food ! Darts and a bar billiards table. The staff are freindly and the toilets clean.
K. W. C.
While there are still plenty of old-school Sam Smiths pubs in Soho (although they're not quite as cheap as they used to be), the Glasshouse Stores stands out thanks to having the only bar billiards table in central London that I know of (and a dart board too). Wasted many an hour in here as a result...
J. S.
As a Yorkshireman it pains me a little to pay £2.90 for old brewery bitter rather than the £1.50 ish I pay in Leeds. That said, this is a great pub which I'd highly recommend. Go for the nut brown ale prior to a good curry for the ultimate flushthrough.
L. T.
The very nice barkeeper sold us intoxicating liquor in a very pleasant manner. Of the several establishments visited that evening this was by far the most pleasant.
M. C.
Pub is great. Beer still not to my taste.
J. H.
Sam Smith's pub. Good, if usual pub grub - burgers, pies, fish & chips etc. Has veggie options. Also has some bar games with a dartboard and billiards table.
A. R.
Good value pub. A Sam Smith's so you can get a pint in central London for less than a 3 bedroom detached house.
J. S.
As far as Central London Sam Smith's go, this is absolutely one of the best.
Hot tip - go for the bottled Pale Ale, it's more expensive than the taps but it's by far the best Sam Smith's beer.
J. C.
Fantastic pub and my go to for a pint when im in the area for many years. My favourite pub in london, and my favourite sam smiths pub in london - always a good selection of beers on tap and great value.
B. R.
Proper pub, but sadly no more bar billiards. This Sam Smiths joint serves their typical cheap beer in a low key setting. Huge downstairs, when open.
E. L. J.
Lovely beer! Lovely snacks! Lovely Staff! Lovely little pub! After work drinks here are a must 😁
G. W. H.
Mr Powroznik loved it when he visited and I'm sure when I visit I will love it just as much if not more.
F. L.
Great pub with an extensive basement to hide from the bustling Regent Street and other busier central pubs. Sam Smith's beers and prices make this place a staple stop-off on a Soho saunter.
J. P.
Lots of space in the centre of London and a lot of different ales on tap. The spirits are generic brands but you should definitely come here for the ale selection.
G. N.
Very reasonably priced boozer in London's soho...only £3.90 for a pint of fizzy lager...ah'm gonny get blitzed
N. R.
Classic Sam Smith's pub, with the added bonus of bar billiards and a dartboard
P. R.
Ideal for a quiet Sunday afternoon pint. Especially if you like Samuel Smith's beers. Quite disappointing if you don't. Try the Extra Stout. Go on.
C.
This is a great pub run by a great landlord and land lady, shame there is no hand pump old brewery but worth a visit if in the area.
R. S.
Traditional Yorkshire pub in the west end of London. Friendly staff and a warm welcome. Good beer and food menu
D. L.
An excellent Sam Smith's in Soho with the only bar billiards table in a Westminster pub! (There is only one other public bar billiards table in Westminter at Hix, also on Brewer Street)
A deceptively large pub. The floor plan is L shaped, so don't be put off if the bar looks really busy from the street. Just go to the back and turn left where there is nearly always a seat to be found. The cosy cellar bar is also open far more frequently than it used to be.
e.
Beautiful pub and the pub lady is worth a 100points to griffindor, so caring and fun.
Will go back
M. S.
Decent pub in the middle of town. Has a bit of character and is quite large. Plenty of tables downstairs. A Sam Smiths pub, which I know sometimes divides opinion.
A. T.
Ok pub, actually a very nice pint of old brewery, compared to some but limited to Samsmiths ales and no 'real' hand pumped ales.
J. W.
Relaxed pub perfect for long conversations with friends over beverages. Good for couples or small groups. Friendly staff.
P. K.
Nice pub to catch up with friends and have your drinks. Friendly staff and cozy place
I. R.
Just what we needed after a day on our feet. Simple food at reasonable prices. The staff were really friendly and the downstairs had a really nice atmosphere.
M. S.

Great little pub! Very friendly landlord and landlady
I. M.
Casual pub split over two floors. Has pretty mixed crowd. Darts and bar billiards available
m. t.
Great service, friendly and it still feels like a proper pub.
j. h.
Heard great things, unfortunately they don’t allow dogs, shame as it’s the kind of place that looks like it would suit the (well behaved) dog owners crowd.
J. S.

T. J. S.
Old fashioned boozer, Landlord, perfect !
J. D. V.
Basically same comment as most Sam Smith pubs, really nice pub but not a fan of their products and no music.
J. D.
Always friendly in here. Good price. And darts and bar billiards. What more could you want?
L. C.
Great pub! Old fashioned decor with good value food and friendly service.
D. H.
Fair price, with good staff, and a friendly atmosphere. A great place to grab a drink or two.
J. D. V.
Basically same comment as most Sam Smith pubs, really nice pub but not a fan of their products and no music.
M. S.
The downstairs area is the nice area but its only open for lunch and in the evenings. Upstairs has more of a traditional pub look
N. A.
Arrived here on Saturday afternoon after looking for a Sam Smith’s bitter. Cosy & relaxed with friendly staff that made me feel like a regular.
j. h.
Heard great things, unfortunately they don’t allow dogs, shame as it’s the kind of place that looks like it would suit the (well behaved) dog owners crowd.
A. R.
A great Sam Smith's if you are looking for a seat on a Friday night. Does not get as funny and with the maze of space in the basement I've always managed to find a little space!
R. J.
This is a very relaxed, traditional style pub with very friendly service!
A. B.
A great pub with cheap and high quality beer. Seating often available even at peak Central London times.
J. C.
Really like this pub, always friendly faces to welcome you and comfy sofas to sit and relax with your friends.
D. P.
Brilliant pub in the city center. Good selection of drinks and food!
J. M.
A quality Sam Smiths right in the heart of London. If you want to have a drink in the west end without breaking the bank this is a great option.
C. W.
Typical Sam Smiths pub - that's a good thing. Cheap, good beer and food. Mostly quiet
K. S.
Great Samuel Smith pub in centre of Soho, good value drinks and plenty of seating
S. C.
A nice pub usually not overcrowded and you get a place to sit and enjoy your beer
K. A.
New seating area is ideal during the summer. During the winter it's warm, friendly and great place to meet up with friends.
K. F.
Prefer the bangers and mash for food. But really nice chilled pub.
B. A.
I went to this pub for a drink after going to the theatre. It's pretty average really. There's nothing special to recommend it over any other pub.
N. O.
My go-to pub in the area. Extremely reasonable pricing and great selection of beers and ales.
T. F.
Not a bad pub, the usual. Not a fan of the Sam Smith beers, but they are cheap
B. S.
A nice Sam smiths pub. Cheap-ish beer (don't buy the beers in bottles). Darts in the back and food served.
C. A.
If it's not the best pub of Soho it's very close to it. Amazing! (Cheap beer here!)
O. J.
£3.60 pints in London are unheard of- a great choice for cheap drinks in Soho

Small but nice traditional pub. Can be busy on weekend.

The pub has a very traditional English flair - the entire pub is a feast for the eyes!
