Reviews of The Glory
T. S.
I went to this venue a week ago to see a friends performance at the Drag King event and I had a lovely time. The atmosphere was very welcoming and positive. The staff were very friendly and drinks were decently priced. Only downside is it gets packed especially upstairs which isn't great with the rise in Covid cases but this was an event. Maybe quieter nights don't have that as an issue but aside from that, I'd totally come back here

A beguiling, alternative London gay bar. We didn’t feel cool enough but had a good time watching Drag-A-Long’s Wicked. The cocktail I ordered was mind-blowingly strong, haha.

Very nice place with great vibes, performances and crowd. The staff were really friendly and nice. I highly recommend it for saturday nights.
P. R.
Best gay bar in London. Inclusive, friendly, great music, good diverse crowd. Love!
B. R.
Great bar, friendly staff, drinks are reasonably priced — love it! Please could you turn the music in the seated bar area down a notch though?
Several people on my table commented that we couldn’t hear each other speak. Then I struck up conversation with the person in front because they were closer than my friend and the first thing they said was “isn’t this volume insane?”
We would’ve stayed for drinks after the show but didn’t see any point since we literally couldn’t socialise due to the music. This was last night at the Drag King competition on 02/08/2021, the music during the waiting periods between the parts of the show.
I’m worried for the potential slow hearing loss among your staff having to contend with that volume on a near daily basis. My ears are still ringing this morning!

A small venue with a lot to offer.
I first came here a couple of years ago for a talk on queer culture in london's nightlife and then again recently for Wut Club.
I had a good time on both occasions and really enjoyed being in a space were so many people from the LGBTQIA spectrum can feel comfortable. The ground floor was really crowded on the club night so I spent most of the night in the basement.
L. T.
Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff and customers are fantastic. It's a alternative bar with a mixture of people. The music is great. There is 2 floors to this venue down stairs has great drag shows as does the upstairs. The owners are lovely and make everyone feel welcome. Most months Positve East do a HIV and sexual health screening. They do a Lip Sync competition which is always great fun. The Glory bar is a place you can go and chill and unwind from work with friends or work colleagues.

Always a fun time. Music could be a bit quieter during the calm hours but that's just the vibe. Contrary to some other reviews, I've never noticed the bar staff being unreasonable (what I have noticed is that alot of the people who go there don't seem to realize how being a customer works). Only issue is with the bouncers. Some are nice but a few are real jerks. Especially the ones at the smoking area. Still a 5 star place for what it is

Insane. Friday nights are up there with some of the best in London for me. Always had an amazing time either with just two of us or a group. The drag acts were hilarious, my ribs were sore. Music is epic and the DJ accommodating to most of my gfs questionable song choices. Dance, drink, sing and be happy at the glory. A bad night at the glory will be better than most pubs best nights.
D. R.
I came on a Sunday eve for a drag show. I sat upstairs and it was dead. I had a drink and noticed some applause coming from the basement. When I opened the doors I found a small and dark room filled with people and a great cabaret/comedy routine on stage. Great show, nice bartenders, cute venue. Would definitely go back.
E. D.
The Glory never let you down but, if you are looking for a fancy cocktail this is not your place. In here you have uncomplicated drinks and easy going people. If back in time music, especially the 80's, is your theme you will be in heaven. Madonna and Whitney are the residents here!
You can also find performances, check their website for details, those are actually really good. Totally worth it!
K. N.
So much fun! We came to watch a show and have a bit of a dance after our office Summer Party, and it has gone down as the best party ever. Everyone is super friendly, but it can be a bit of a mission to get a drink when the dancing is in full swing.
A. W.
A small-ish and busy gay bar with a tight but... oh sorry not a tight butt...a tight but welcome smoking area. The Glory has live acts and generally good music and the crowd is nice. The bar staff are quick enough and friendly.
B. J.
I went to this bar on a Tuesday evening while on a work trip. It wasn’t busy, but it seemed like the kind of place that would be great fun at the weekend! The decor is very camp and fun. I’d definitely go back to see one of the shows.
G. P.
It's a fun bar and enjoyed the times I've been but unfortunately they have a bar woman with a really bad attitude and poor care for the customers. I was charged for my first pint by card, no problem! Second time she serves me, oh there's a minimum spent now, no clear signs about it and with her "don't care attitude" she just asked me to order more. Why do they have to force people to order more or pay extra for pint if most of us pay by card everywhere? They need to adapt to the times. Other than that, the atmosphere is good but down to the people who come to the bar...
M. A.
Such a fun place to see a show. The show was 15£ but totally worth it, we couldn't stop laughing.
After the show the place turned into a disco with littles performances that keep you in the mood.
And... If you are Spanish... They have MAHOU!!!!!! :) :)
D. L.
Great polite team. Good compere. Very gay friendly
J. G.
Really fun night out. Great bartenders, good drinks! Nice people!
M. B.
The Glory is how gay pubs used to be before the tide of dating apps descended and drowned our queer identities. Expect an eclectic bunch or all ages, genders and tribes, expect eccentric drag acts and above all expect a good old queer knees-up.
We had to pay £6 entrance fee but this keeps out any randoms and considering the conveyor belt of non-stop live comedy/drag acts, it's actually superb value for money.
F. L.
The Glory is my to-go LGBTQ place at the moment in London. It’s always great fun! The crowd is friendly and don’t get upset if sometimes it may take more than 10 minutes to get a drink. It gets really busy and it’s most likely you’ll have to end up stealing the blood of a virgin to get your drink after a certain time.
For those who smoke it has a friendly smoking area but chances are you’ll end up getting wet when it rains.
All in all it’s great fun and don’t miss their schedule because there’s always something happening almost every night and evening!
G. B.
Love this place. The music is fabulous (best DJs in the UK), the environment is welcoming and friendly, and the drinks are good. A must if you want a great place to dance and feel free.
A. S.
Great, fun atmosphere. Quite a mixed crowd. Bar staff friendly as was the nice guy at the cloakroom and the door staff. 2 Floors of good value fun. Definitely recommended.
S. A.
Love The Glory! Great queer space in London where many are being closed down. Very friendly for queer women and non-binary folk, unlike other LGBT spaces. Always a good crowd of people.
J. C.
A fantastic pub, nightclub, cabaret venue and institution. It's no surprise that this place has so quickly become an export... appearing at Latitude, the National Theatre and Ireland recently... Everyone wants a slice of The Glory and the sheer magic that the place induces. Cherish The Glory and make the most of their wondrous shows.
L. E. G.
All I love in a venue, in one place. Relaxed non-pretencious environment, great entertainment, friendly people and sassy bartenders.
Pro tip: go for a pint early afternoon before the crowds. Best time to relax.
J. O.
I loved this gay bar. Went to see a performance and really enjoyed it. You can feel free in this place, free of being who you want to be.
Will come back over and over again!
L. H.
Saturday night was a JOY. Great music to dance to, very friendly staff all over (bar, door, coat check, security), friendly punters easy to talk to. And I met a cute guy!
H. W.
Great music, friendly staff, an unforgettable atmosphere that makes you return here again. They often hold promotions, if you register on 909gay,comcom and create a profile, you can get a separate room for 2 hours and a free cocktail for free.
R. M.
Great place to have fun, went a couple months back for a event. Would come back again if I could. If your look for fun and a relax location this is it. Quiet small but it’s could for an small party.
J. F. a. T. C. S.
Fantastic atmosphere and great range of ipas on tap. So, so good that one of the only queer puvs left in London is also a really good one. I felt safe and able to be myself, everyone is super friendly. Its almost too successful for its own good with toilet queues completely out of hand! Fix this and you'll get the full 5 stars
C. H.
Nice and very original bar we ended up to! It was a surprise! Will come back for the shows definitely.. my beer was great but I can’t remember the name ahaha
A. D.
Traditional type gay pub on Kingsland Road by the canal. Great show/event space in the basement and performances/disco upstairs (very busy) evenings until late. Seasonal decorations as you can tell from my 'spooky' haloween photo. Basic bar range of drinks but friendly staff and punters, a lively and fab place!
E. M.
Very cosy off the beaten track Gay bar with live entertainment in basement. Good to meet an old friend and catch up as music not too loud. Comfy lounges
L. C.
A great night out with the gays, always interesting events and performers, a friendly crowd, pleasant staff and good prices. Lots of space to boogie downstairs.
F. M.
Fabulous gay club with great live shows and drag acts nice atmosphere, only problem is if u are a smoker then smoking area is packed and takes ages to get in and out off
X. P.
Good east-London crowd. Laidback, accepting atmosphere. Various events organised (eg. Drag queen contest, DJ, live singer/comics...). There is a basement too. Friendly staff and owner.
H. T.
Amazing local gay pub in East London. Love it here. Especially Sundays are so chilled, nice music and great place to have a pint.
B. T.
Long may this place survive as a (slightly) alternative option on the London gay scene. Always entertaining - never a shred of attitude - except when it’s on stage! ;)
W. S. L.
The Glory is a breath of fresh air to the homogenised Londin gay scene. It's a fun and friendly queer space for everyone in the LGBTQ+ family to enjoy.
L. C. C. C.
Great evening. Entertainment was bliss. I left my small Nike Bag there with my scarf in it. 😓. i should ask if it was handed in. ;/
J. G.
I love The Glory. Fun environment. Decent beer selection. Great drag shows and LGBT entertainment.
M. W.
The drinks are pretty badly made and even the beer from tap doesn’t taste right. Nice place but best to drink out of a bottle or can.
K. Q.

E. W.
I love the glory holes here, everyone is so polite it’s like being back at home, thank you again for another amazing brunch with my mother
D. A.
Great alternative drag venue. Get there early and grab a seat up near the stage if you want to get the best vantage point.
j. m.
Bit too expensive but there was a critique for the Eurovision I. The basement. My guest loved it.
Seams like a nice community
R. B.
5* alternative queer venue. No fuss, no attitude, just fun times to be had by all. Really good shows.
A. G.
No words to say how amazing is this bar.
One of the best nights out in London, even thou the DJ was a bit shady, but it was great.
O. H.
A fun time is always guaranteed at this contemporary gay venue that promises the best in modern cabaret.

Cute and cozy gay bar in Shoreditch/Haggerston. Super approachable with drag shows and a stage.

Lively and full of character. The hot tub in the basement was the highlight, or as the host calls it: the cesspool
A. A.

(Translated) Friendly London pub / club. A good atmosphere with shows. A mixed clientele. Several rooms. Decoration efforts are made for parties or events. It can get crowded pretty quickly, but it makes it look nicer. Djs take care of the music.
