Reviews of The Gun, Docklands
D. V. A.
Went to the gun for NYE , they were doing a 9 course tasting feast , 😋, we arrived really late but they were happy to accommodate the time we arrived. The food was so tasty prepared to perfection. The staff were amazing ,friendly ,attentive . Everything run smoothly ,and we were able to see fireworks🎆 very worth it .

I love the Gun. 6 years into living in the UK and places like this make me love the British cuisine! It was actually my first Sunday Roast ever in the Gun and I loved it! Served beautifully with a very cosy atmosphere and good service! I recommend 👌🏻
A. S.
Looks like a pub from the outside, but this is a proper restaurant in terms of dish quality and also the service. We tried the hake and the lamb dishes, and both were really great.
If you're in the mood, also try their dessert wines.
R. E.
Has some of the nicest views of Thames river.
Beautiful pub on a 'mews' style road in Canary Wharf area. Lovely cozy interior inside. Has large terrace overlooking the river.
Service was good and efficient. We had Sunday roast and Butternut squash, mushroom, spinach & feta Wellington with mushrooms on the side.
Worth visiting once for an evening drink or a Sunday roast. Recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment!
M.
Excellent service from all staff, very friendly atmosphere lovely glowing fire on a cold day . The food was excellent and had a lovely table looking over the Thames. A special thanks to JP and see you soon.
N. B.
Ive been here a few times, bur this time for a corporate event - the service was fantastic - the waiters / waitresses were happy to take drinks orders and put up with the din of 30+ people talking loudly.
The food was also delicious I had a steak (medium rare) and it was cooked perfectly, plus there were 3 (three!) types of potatoes.
My colleague had a vegetarian pea salad thing that looked delicious (large portion).
I didn’t really need the sticky toffee pudding but managed to find space….
The walk back to Canary Wharf tube station was very surreal, 4 years ago it seemed to take forever, but I trusted Google maps and it took me in a straight line (past some sort of Amazon Supermarket (?))…

A great and historic venue for a nice ale and a strong gin! Short notice booking of 8 people was no bother. Sat with a river view and the menu was plentiful. Great quality, sirloin steaks were sizeable and well cooked.
Poor reviews are either snarky competition or overly fussy fusspots. Nothing wrong here. Look at the river view, a true dining view.
A. S.
Dive in for the amazing river view with in-house live music and a lovely ambience.
Perfect place for a romantic date with your partner.
P. M. K.
The onion soup is amazing! The food in general, is very good. Staff is very friendly and the place itself is quite nice.
G. D.
We love the food, river views and service at the Gun. History is interesting as well, with the Lord Nelson tie in. But the Kitchen and food is what we really appreciate! We have been 6+ times in the last year and it never disappoints, really good food. The menus do change with the season, with daily specials which are very nice. The Starter of Asparagus was really lovely as well as the steak Tartare. We shared the main of Duck for two and it was sublime, really well prepared with some very nice variation.
Posted several photos, the Sunday roasts are excellent.
Y. T.
The best restaurant in London, very friendly staff. The managers both on Saturday night and during the week are fantastic. My cousin had the best bridal shower. Thank you soo much
S. W.
Fancy pub and restaurant with some great views over the Thames, or, if you prefer, a hearty warm fireplace. Food is fantastic, though expensive, though not prohibitatively expensive given its location off Canary Wharf. Expect great service.
A.
Fantastic experience. Food was good, service was phenomenal. The view from the outside patio was to die for - photo attached. I think the garden was closed which was a slight bummer but not an issue. A bit pricey, but you’re paying a premium to be on the River.
S. V.
A great pub with a very rich history (definitely read it). Perfect place for those cold days/ evenings to warm up by the fireplace. They also do a decent Sunday roast, however I'd wish the would serve something more interesting for a vegan version of it rather than a cauliflower. So many non vegan places offer much better roast options.
J. S.
Love this place. They have a fire place for cold winter days, a nice terrace with a view on the river for warm, sunny days. The food quality is very good, especially the Sunday roast.
D. B.
Five stars!! Excellent staff and nice craft beers on tap! Absolutely lovely terrace ad well!
D.
Really nice and quaint pub with great food and lovely service. The inside of the pub has a very warm look and feel to it.
N.
Lovely location and friendly staff. A nice menu and good selection of drinks.
R. T.
A brief visit for a coffee. Fantastic location and very helpful and friendly staff. I was shown around the upstairs Nelson/Hamilton room too when I expressed an interest in taking pictures of the bar area.
G. O.
Lovely pub with great food. Super friendly staff and local patrons. Would definitely recommend
J.
Another lovely meal at The Gun. Terrific Sunday lunch. Great service. One our our favourite pubs.
L. I.
Nice to go to a pub that has proper food and great service. Many so called 'gastro pubs' are let down by serving convenience food, such as frozen chips, but here you can get the real thing. The sticky toffee pudding is the best ever!
D. M.
£20 for a large wine and a pint of Guinness. Excellent terrace with views to the dome. More of a restaurant than a pub.
p. x.
As usual the food was phenomenal but the service was not up to usual standard. Loved the gin bar.
M. E.
This used to be our local and we were very lucky to have it. Many an evening we had a few drinks, and a lively meal or three. The steak here was especially tender, and the views and ambience were second to none.
Aside from this the serving staff were always very friendly and happy to help and the food was served promptly and well presented. Strongly recommend!!
P. E.
A fantastic pub/restaurant in a great setting with a stunning view in the fully covered outdoor dining area. The food is awesome. We went on Sunday and had the best Sunday lunch ever! There are plenty of other choices if you want an alternative. Already looking forward to to our next visit. An experience not to be missed.
G. T.
Spent a lovely evening in the river room. The upstairs function room at the pup. Great view accoss the river to the O2. Staff were great and food was lovely.
A.
Really nice pub on the Thames.
Views on the river and nice interior.
If you are in the area you probably won't be able to find something simular around.
P. J.
Great food & service. Despite an absence of several years, The Gun for me has consistently maintained its excellent standard. Thank you.
P. B.
Delicious food, beautiful interior, very pleasant service. Family friendly - we arrived with 3 buggies and it was not a problem.
Absolutely worth going. Great choice, more than just a pub food
a. “. w.
Lovely pub right on the water edge with great view of the 02. Staff friendly, service was good. Food mediocre especially for the price, would visit again on hot day if we were guaranteed seating outside.
G. P.
I had not been to The Gun for several years since having a not very pleasant experience with a pheasant there. In the intervening years the menu seems to have moved towards a more standard pub fare but still with enough imagination and skill to put it at the top of that genre.
The table we had was in the glass lean-to and had views of the Thames and the O2. Service was very pleasant without being particularly fast. Staff were friendly and happy for us to take our time over selecting the meal.
The food was good and the beer and wine selection perfectly acceptable.
Slightly confusing was the toilets being identified as Emma and Horario rather than any normal nomenclature.
Having waited many years to return to this reasonably local, I expect the next visit to be in a few weeks.
Enjoyable evening, good food and great views.
L. H.
Stopped off on a cycle for a refreshing drink. What a place! Amazing views of the river and just totally chilled. Really nice and efficient staff. Will definitely be coming back soon!
M. W.
A 300 year old classic Riverside pub with amazing views of The River Thames. Its were Lord Nelson snagged Lady Hamilton. Have a drink and toast Nelson getting his end away in the rooms above the pub. Food is fabulous and the beers great and the staff really friendly.
N. H.
My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Gun last Saturday and we had a great time. The staff was very attentive and sweet and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend.
J. F.
The food was amazing, staff was friendly and very attentive even though it was very busy. There was two of us and even though we did not have a reservation on a Saturday they found a place for us. Will go again soon!
R. O.
Such a great find! Tucked away on a little side street in Canary wharf (ish) area, this pub is a great mixture of casual hang out and nicer dining. The view of the Thames and the O2 is fantastic and best seen by the side garden. The choice of beers and alcohol is decent. And the staff are all friendly. Only just discovered this place over the weekend and I've already been back! Highly recommend!
M. J.
Food was good, as was the atmosphere. Just make sure you're aware of the 12.5% service charge they add on
2. C. D.
Watch your bill it would seem the service charge is compulsory they hit total then give you the card machine to hide charge. That aside lovely pub. Nice terrace to sit and watch the river traffic
B. F.
Went for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Fast, friendly service and delicious food. I booked a table in the sheltered outside area, mainly due to covid, but it also gave us a lovely view over the river. Highly recommended.
w.
The family were looking for somewhere nearby and different from our usual cuisine and landed here...
Getting here wasn't complicated nor hard due to there being local bus stops not to far away and in between two DLR stations which are slightly further away if there wasn't any other alternatives.
From the outside, it looked like your Joe Bloggs of a pub/restaurant but don't let this sway you from giving it a visit, once inside things change a lot, the interior was on point, everything you'd expect from a local pub but has a slight edge to it.
We went for a family meal, so we wanted to be seated on the terrace which would of been ideal, the view seemed great, if only the weather was slightly better on the day of our visit but we didn't complain and had the window view instead.
The food selection was rather good too, for the adult and kids seeing we didn't expect it to be of that level.
Staff were helpful and very nice, always willing to help if asked.
We'd definitely give it another visit soon enough.
Highly recommend.

My daughter had her Wedding Meal at the Gun, 28th August. Her experience with booking, arranging and asking million questions has been second to none, everyone was helpful and accommodating, which went a long way in helping both of them to relax and not worry. The event itself went off perfectly, I would like to thank the attentive patient staff who looked after us,
The chef who provided the amazing food and the manager that evening who allowed us to stash a lot of items to pick up next day.
Have been back twice since, for Sunday dinner, and a walk with the dog for coffee and nibbles. Am now a lifelong fan.
M. H.
Fantastic! Had booked the terrace for a leaving drinks and setting and the staff were amazing (especially Reece)!
M. L.
Lovely place to mingle and have some drinks, they were very accomodating with my group and dog friendly, even with a big dog, so I really appreciated it.
R. B.
Very fancy indoor dining room, lovely atmosphere on a Friday evening. Friendly attentive staff. Fantastic beer garden! Food was great, on the expensive side but well worth it. Perfect for a special date or anniversary.
v. L.
Had a great evening in the river room. Food was beautiful, staff were great. Friendly & fun & very attentive.
The view is lovely & a great room for a private meal with friends.
I. R.
Excellent pub right on the river front with views to the O2. Indoor dining area is lovely and we had a great lunch, also like the outside area for summer. Always friendly service.
J. G.
Service was excellent. Great choice of spirits. Food was delicious. Had a brisket rarebit to start, followed by gnocchi. Really good!
U. D.
Great Sunday roast. Great location also, overlooking the Thames to the O2.
With current climate, staff were so professional emphasizing the rules to follow. Really great place to visit
A. C.
Nice pub, could have had a slightly broader range of drinks available. Was there on a work do so not exactly sure how pricey but I think 3 double rums added ~£33 to the tab
O. S.
My party of five booked our Christmas dinner at the Gun Canary wharf.
Four of us decided on the festive 4 course menu with a complimentary glass of Prosecco priced at £55 per person with a 12.5 percent service charge to be added.
The 4 course menu included an Amuse Bouche, a choice of 4 starters including a soup dish a Salmon dish, a Stag and Boar roll and finally a Liver and Onion dish.
The menu also included a choice of 4 main dishes which included Pumpkin Tart, Roast Hake, Traditional Turkey dish and a Lamb dish.
The desserts consisted of a choice of Pumpkin Pie, Apple Tart, Poached Pear and the traditional Christmas Pudding.
The menu also had supplementary cheese course priced at £12 along with a number of side dishes such as Shredded Brussel sprouts and Bacon, Hand cut chips and baked Mushrooms.
On arrival we were greeted by the Gun Team who were very friendly and professional and gave us clear directions on their Covid policy.
We were lead to out table which was well presented and included the traditional Christmas crackers and place settings which included our names as well as our pre ordered choices from the festive menu. This was a good idea and I was happy to see that all our pre orders were correct.
We were served by a very nice, friendly and helpful waitress assigned to.our table. Her service was excellent and she should be commended.
Our dishes and drinks were served in a timely fashion with sufficient time between courses.
The food was very good and we enjoyed an excellent meal and evening.
We ordered a bottle of Gabry Rose Brut from Sicily to accompany our starters followed by two bottles of the Joseph Perrier Brut Cuvee Royal to accompany our mains.
I would certainly recommend both.
The only negative point of the evening was the number of fellow diners moving around without face coverings or facemasks which we found somewhat worrying.
When we did point this out the waiting team did approch the culprits and take action so well done to them.
All in all we had an excellent meal, drinks and evening and the service was first class.
My thanks and appreciation to the whole of the Gun Team who made a good evening an excellent one.
We look forward to visiting again in the near future Covid restrictions permitting.
E. B.
Had a roast beef on Sunday and a bottle of wine. The food is excellent, the roast potatoes are up there with the best I've had in London and the Yorkie is perfect. Extra gravy came as standard, which was very much appreciated. The service was a bit of a let down, there seems to be a lot of staff but we waited almost 25 mins to place our order, and about the same just to pay the bill. I'd still go again though, the food is fantastic.
Z. S.
The BEST roast ever 😍 Lovely venue, great service. Nemira, who was looking after our table, was just wonderful ⭐️Highly recommended 🙏🌸
G. H.
Oh, it's always the same,' she sighed, 'if you want men to behave well to you, you must be beastly to them; if you treat them decently they make you suffer for it.
S. V.
Nice pub next to the river. Food is not too bad. Went lunchtime on a weekday and it was peaceful. The fries are also worth having.
Q. P.
The little rooms in back and the porch area are nice and cozy. Bar has a very nice selection, but the food is lacking. The cod was lackluster, the steak riddled with grissle but was cooked a perfect medium rare. The prawns were excellent and their chips are quite good. For the price rather disappointing.
B. D.
A brilliant place to sit, enjoy good food and drink.
Great scenery, sympathetic decor. Great pub.
S. H.
Lovely food and fantastic staff.
V. M.
An awesome place to sit back and enjoy the night views from around the corner of Canary wharf.. Nab a place on the outer side and They also have a small open area if you are interested.. Food is amazing here and served with passion.. I loved the ambience!
방.
OMG it was very good!
Our company really enjoyed the food and the beer!
We would like to visit, when it would be warmer.
So we could sit on the terrace!
T. W.
Amazing river views, great food, excellent service. Will definitely return!
C. H.
Lovely place. Good service. Starter and main course (fillet) delicious, but dessert was disappointing. Felt like they'd forgotten to add sugar to mille-feuille
C. B.
Amazing food (had the sunday roast) and wonderful service. Great bar round the side with great views of the Thames and the O2. Will definitely be back!
S. P.
One of the nicest places I've been. Good food lovely area outside facing Greenwich and the Millenium dome
S. B.
Stopped in for a Sunday drink in the garden. Wonderful ambiance and good view of the river. The COVID measures in place were very clear and followed by everyone we saw. And tasty drinks too!
Edit: We went inside for a meal and I ordered the schnitzel. I found several small, living caterpillars in the greens. They did take it off the bill and replace the food, but it is never good to find living bugs in the food.
N. P.
The lamb was underwhelming, but the guinea fowl was excellent. It's quite expensive for a fullers pub, but with attentive staff and good menu it's very almost worth it. Lower the prices a fraction and I'd definitely come again.
D. G.
The pub itself looks lovely, especially if you go for drinks as the sitting area is by the water offering Thanes views.
We went fir Sunday roast but we were not particularly impressed by the food.
Service was good.
O. V.
Very friendly people working there and the food was really good. Would highly recommend
I. B.
Gastro pub with white linen tablecloths and nice food. I prefer it as a pub, with outdoor part and fire, but unfortunately that is not enough anymore. Staff wait tables, leaving 1 barman to make drinks for all tables and serve pub. Makes busy periods frustrating. Been recently on quiet day and so much nicer
A. B.
Hidden gem. Historical building of 1700, keeping the vibes of the best English traditions, good food and stunning view.
A. R.
Lovely pub on the Thames River looking across to the O2 in Greenwich. Food is of a very high standard with generous sized portions and the restaurant uses white linen tablecloths and napkins to make the dining experience a little more special. Staff were very friendly but the service could have been a bit more attentive.
M. B.
Excellent menu and drinks choice, great location, would definitely recommend...
T. “. S.
Absolutely delicious! Excellent service, amazing drinks and great view. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality English meal.
M. H.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch, great atmosphere and brilliant staff. Almost a 5 star.
J. v. B.
Lovely pub with a great view, however a bit offside when visiting central London (a good 10 Minutes walk from the nearest DLR station).
P. (.
Had our Christmas party at the marquee here. Fantastic views and the min spend is reasonable to hire the outside marquee,. Only downside is that because the outside marquee is outside that the music had to be closed of at 2200 and then three marquee edit down say 2300. Good was good although be mindful of the vegetarian bacon sandwiches ( I put this down to an incorrect label). Otherwise much fun had all round
N. F.
We had a large family lunch in the River Room at The Gun on a Saturday afternoon in July to celebrate our Civil Partnership. We had an excellent time.
The food was fantastic - far beyond the normal standard you would expect at a pub. Everyone was particularly impressed with the smoked trout starter.
The wine list is, perhaps, a little on the expensive side, but the selection is good.
As we were a group of 14, we had to pre-order online. The system for choosing food is easy to use. We were a little taken aback to also have to pre-order wine, and to be told that we might be charged for all of the wine we pre-ordered, even if we had unopened bottles that we hadn't drunk. Luckily this didn't affect us in the end.
I must give a special shout out to Barbara who served us throughout the afternoon. She was absolutely fantastic - polite, friendly and helpful. If all of the staff are this good, then that's pretty impressive!
Thanks to everyone who was involved in our celebration.
A. K. J. B.
Cozy English gourmet pub with delicious food and friendly staff. Fireplaces, white tablecloths and a winter garden terrace overlooking the harbour. The sunday roast is top notch. Pictured: the boar and stag sausage roll.
L.
TIP: def ask for a river view table
Slightly difficult to find, but absolutely worth it. Had a wonderful afternoon, fabulous river views with a traditional roast. Our waitress was the fabulous Christina who delighted us with her fantastic service and she’s from Italy (near Naples) so was trusted at advising on the food and drinks.
j. h.
One of the best pubs around. Top quality food and staff
N. C.
This has to be one of the best Sunday roasts in London. It's situated right by the river (the picture below is the view from our table.
There's a fantastic selection of beers and wines and the food is excellent. It's more expensive than your average pub roast but you definitely get what you pay for.
J. S.
My favourite pub in London!
Excellent food, I highly recommend the pie off the pub menu. The view from the terrace overlooking the O2 arena is fabulous!
d. r.
This is a lovely lovely place. Maybe it was because I was next to the swirling river I started to feel nauseous and dizzy and had to sit down on one of the plush leather bar stools and be soothed by the piped jazz funk playing over the Sonos. Or maybe it was paying £11.15 for a JD and coke in a place that proports to be a traditional riverside pub that made me go off colour. As an island boy who grew up on boats I have my suspicions.
U. J.
If you want to see how a pub should be run, come here. Excellent staff, service and food. Top class
P. C.
One of the most stunning pubs in London!
The Gun serves out of this world food right next to one of the most beautiful places in said world!
If you ever are in London, come for the food and drinks, stay for the friendly staff and management AND the drinks and the food!
Will definitely be making this a regular stop to anyone and myself whenever I am in town.

Fabulous evening out for celebratory dinner! Staff friendly, food fabulous, atmosphere joyous!
C. R.
Decent food, really nice staff, good location for a quick walk from Canary Wharf.
M.
One of the best places to eat near Canary Wharf. The best if you’re looking for British Cuisine. Highly recommend.
P. K.
Loved the place side to Thames river nice view and we got private area highly recommend food is good
D. K.
Great location, good beers on tap, easy walking distance from Canary Wharf. Didn't eat here but I will go back. They also offer a free lunch time pickup and drop off service from Canary Wharf.
D. B.
Sat (21/08/21) evening we had River test smoked trout & Cheddar & Stour rarebit followed by Côte de boeuf to share, puds Pavlova and Chocolate Pavé.
excellent service from Valentina and her colleagues. lok forward to the next time.
G. B.
Amazing food and lovely atmosphere! I will be back soon.
L. S.
I went here on Saturday, this was my third time here and the food has usually been great but unfortunately this time it wasn’t so good. My 2 vegetarian friends only had 2 options to choose from, it was quite bland and the pea ravioli was scarily big with an overload of peas. My Chicken Kiev with asparagus only had 1 and a half asparagus’s which was a shame so had to ask for more, there was no garlic sauce in the chicken and the salad was dry, with no dressing offered.
Don't go here if you’re vegetarian.
The service was amazing as always, Chrystal was lovely and very attentive. Cocktails are always delicious.
J. C.
I love this place. Reminds me of the exact weapon I used to commit several war crimes in rural Uzbekistan.
A. M.
Superb gastro-pub. Amazing choice and quality of food and the staff were really lovely and happy.
T. B.
Great location and views. Sunday roast was served on cold plates, so everything cooled very quickly. Waiter was a gent and put our coffees on the house. 8/10
C. B.
We like this restaurant, food very good, staff is very friendly..
L. D.
Billed as a gastropub, it has the right ambience but is let down by its average food offering. Great service, lovely views but the kitchen needs a revamp. The vegetarian serving was inedible
I.
Amazing view to the river and staff service 5* always on point! They have big selection of cocktails and generous portions of the food.
We had a great Sunday roast. The bartenders Ivo&Kacper were making great drinks and giving best recommendations on food. Thank you and looking forward to come back!
D. R.
Cracking Sunday roast with a view of the Thames and O2 in the background. £62 for two roasts and 3 pints. I’ll go back.
D. B.
Delicious Sunday roast, fab staff and perfect pub atmosphere! Love this place - can’t wait to go back!!
T. G.
Best Riverside gastropub! Amazing Sunday roast, live music and top service.
A. H. P.
The place was beautiful, they had a huge outside sitting. The customers service was 10/10. And the food was really tasty. I can't complain, my experienced was really really good. I will definitely be back.
D. P.
Welcoming staff, great atmosphere, delicious and well presented food and a great location overlooking the Thames
L. R.
The best part about this pub is the outside terrace right by the river. Be prepared to pay a central London prices at this upmarket bar. Sunday roast was expensive, but portion size was decent (except only 2 potatoes) Indoor service was lacking in attentiveness and friendliness. We almost felt like a burden at times. Overall we had a nice time, even better once we moved outside.
e. L.
First time we've been there, will definitely go again. Amazing food and cocktails.
A. C.
Great place, have a walk around the grounds where you can celebrate the music of The Beatles at the same time as giving back to the community. Always lots going on here.
H. J.
Went to the gun for a birthday lunch today. Really good food, really friendly staff and good service, amazing views, good beer. Couldn't ask for more.
J. B.
Great views of O2 and Thames traffic. Didn't eat as we were only in for a pint..relaxing, 18th century restored pub.
I. K.
Proper pub. Decent food and fair selection of ales. Really nice, and the previously mentioned issues with slow/inattentive service have been resolved. Too pricey, though, 90 pounds for the two of us, Sunday roast & drinks.
C. K.
Hidden gem in Docklands. Amazing Sunday roast and beautiful views from the terrace. Great history and story behind the bar as well!
J. K.
One of our favourite places for after work drinks. Fantastic team, great selection of beers, wines and whiskeys, skyline view from the patio never gets boring.
A. M. M. A.
Great view from the terrace of the O2 across the river. The food and the drinks selection were very good.
A. W.
Very nice food great staff and a little gem off the beaten track
D. B.
Lovely views over to The O2 and Thames and a large out door space. Nice little Gem! 🤗
P. F.
Great Sunday lunch today. Have not been since rules relaxed and is still my favourite of pubs. Thankyou jp ornella and fabio for great service throughout these still difficult times and will get better. Also a Thanks to the staff who are new to me and wish the new staff the very best of luck. Its a good pub to work for as you have a great management team. X
J. S.
The Gun is a great gastropub. Well worth the short taxi from Canary Wharf.
N. R.
We tried the Sunday roast which is really massive and that's ok given the price but I didn't think the taste was that good - parts of the chicken were not properly cooked. Service was great tho!
M. A.
The pub has definitely exceeded our expectations today. The staff was very kind and accommodating, the food was delicious and very well presented. I highly recommend trying the mussels. The outside views are amazing but would suggest asking for a table with the river view.
C. B.
Lovely food and cocktails, with a great view of the 02 and fantastic friendly staff. Definitely becoming one of my favourite spots. Make sure you reserve in advance, as it can get busy- because its so good. 😜
G. K.
Excellent venue and the Roast beef lunch was great
P. C.
Service is always good and the nice old building has a country feel to it.
S. N.
Have been to The Gun numerous times. It is a terrific pub - fabulous surroundings and aweseom river view - particularly on a winter evening. The food is great (though more veggie options always welcome :) ), but the quality of the food is first rate. Staff are always helpful and charming and always our first choice locally. Keep it up folks.

First post-lockdown2 meal - and so glad we chose The Gun.
We were lucky enough to be seated on the terrace with the lovely riverside seating, making for a great view (especially at night).
Food and service outstanding - our starters were rabbit with poached pears, which was exquisite; and Monkfish - also excellent.
The mains of pork belly were also up to the usual high standard - tender meat, crackling just right - and the mash with peanuts an original and tasty combination
.
Thanks particularly to the staff for making us feel welcome, safe and for the manager for asking the loud party to quieten down.
H. F.
Lovely pub on the river with delicious food and some attentive waiters and bar staff!
P. M.
Went in with group of friends for Christmas lunch. Good service and food was good.
A. B.
An East London legend!
Sophisticated food in a lovely environment.
Great views on the Thames and the O2 from either the terrace or the beer garden.
A. Z.
The food is delicious! If you want a table with a Thames view I recommend book a table in advance.
S.
Excellent service. Ivor and the other staff were really great. The service was quick and amazing. Keep it up guys 😉😊☺️
C. K.
Very good Sunday Roast! Surprisingly the star of the show was the pickled red cabbage.
K. M.
Great food and drinks. Good service. Outdoor seating is abit crowded (very small gaps between tables), but makes up with great views of the river!
H. H.
Very clean and quiet. Food was fabulous!
U. ü.
We ve been The Gun on sunday. They had a nice sunday roast and fresh pimms :) love the food and atmsphore. Manager put more attention than staff. Thank you for good experience. 👍👍
C. V.
Welcomed from the start, really well designed and historic pub. The atmosphere was lovely and warm with a fabulous choice of food and drink. Sunday lunch is really good.
N. M.
Beautiful spot just off the river, large terrace and fire place to warm you up.
M. H.
What a lovely pub this is. Went for a Sunday roast which was beautiful. Not the cheapest in town but beautifully prepared and served by very polite and attentive staff. The pub itself is steeped in history and its location on the river is lovely. If you can, sit in the conservatory area and watch river and all that offers go by. Will definitely be back probably in the summer when I guess the conservatory opens up for alfresco dining. Lovely.
S. E.
Nice place to have a drink but the prices higher than any pub you pay more for the view.....and if you don't call to reserve a table the keep telling you won't be allowed to stay long because tables are booked
V. W.
Another OMG
We went Friday and rebooked for today and rebooked for next Saturday ..
FOOD..sublime /Fantastic..

We Give um 1000 out of 10
Think this place is gamma b r local .xxx
S. G.
Would give 5 starts just for our waiter service (Avil I guess?) who was really attentive, friendly and kind! Food is not the best... £45 for one pint, one Aperol spritz and two “ main” courses is quite expensive but overall great Sunday on the terrace. Thank you!
J.
I used to live down the road, and I loved coming here on an odd quiet weekend. This was one of my favourite places to have a relaxed drink, winter or summer, on the balcony overlooking the river. Staff were wonderful. Food was a bit pricey but you pay for good stuff. Roasts were sublime. Keep it up. There's always good reasons to keep up the hard work you folks do.
J. C.
Lovely small english pub restaurant right across from the 02 arena lovely food nice drinks and excellent staff we will visit again
G. S.
We booked a private room to hold a family birthday party. The food was excellent as was the service. The room overlooked the river (a great view) which entertained the children, looking at the boats and helicopters. They provided a fantastic birthday cake, and the staff worked so hard! Good beer too.
C. B.
Really yummy food, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely dinner overlooking the Thames and will definitely be back. They're dog friendly too.
S. S.
Lovely place with romantic terrace just over the river. Tasty meals and good staff.
A.
We sat outside on the river and enjoyed the view and the food was excellent. Staff were also very friendly. Do advise to book in advance as they seem to be busy during the weekends when having food.
O. T.
The most delicious beef, the most beautiful view, the most friendly service! Great place to visit and to experience an English Pub 🇬🇧🍺🥓🍔🍟😉😍
L. O.
A BIG thank you for our Management dinner last night. Everyone has said to me today how great the food and service was. They loved the River Room with the view and were very impressed with the decoration and name places. None of them had been before and they all gave glowing remarks. The boss was happy with the bill at the end… this makes me a happy assistant!
O. A. S.
Lovely place! Cool staff!
Z. C.
Amazing place! Highly recommend! Amazing food, amazing ambience and great views of the O2 and east London Thames!
F. M.
Food is stunning and servers are attentive and friendly.
P. A.
Strange to get to if you're not from Canary Wharf area - but once you arrive, it's heaven! Beautiful deck overlooking the Thames for those warm days and a lovely old-worldy historic pub feel inside. Sunday roasts were lovely and good wine selection. Staff friendly and attentive.
A. M. W.
Nice outside sitting area with a view!
J. V. P.
Beautiful pub in Canary Wharf. Had a cider pint, the lamb chops and a blackberry pie. The lamb was beautifully cooked, garnished with a baked potato and vegetables. It paired perfectly with a side of mushrooms. The waitress was friendly, polite and helpful. I will be back very soon!
C. D.
Excellent food. Great service. Great views.
A. H.
Wonderful pub, beautiful with great food
P. S.
Good selection of drink, situated right next to River Thames towards the end of Canary wharf. The place has a colorful history and I was introduced to it by a friend. I experienced a real fire place and had fun adding the wood into the fire to keep warm. The barkeeper was friendly and recommended my tipper. And he understood my taste well. Had a nice time, good place to sit outside as well
T. Q.
This pub is located right next to the Thames and has one of the best views in London onto the O2 Arena. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. It even has an open fire place in winter. Highly recommended!
N. H.
Lovely pub with great views over the thames
M. C.
Delicious food. Friendly service and the most amazing wine. Try the solline wine.
L. C.
Beautiful location right by the Thames and an amazing Sunday roast. Highly recommend the pork loin!
K. E.
I used to live opposite this pub. The food is amazing and the service is great. I got to know a lot of the staff (even with the high turnover) and everyone was friendly and helpful. Views across the river to the O2 and a lovely gin garden for the summer. The manager was also careful to ensure residents were happy and put on special events. Never really heard loud noises coming out of the pub late either...classy pub with classy people.
L.
The roast was good. Especially wonderfully attentive service from Nemira and Ivo.
Dessert was great- can rate the White Chocolate Pavé!
A. N.
Really good find, beautiful riverside location and perfect Sunday roast, what more could you ask for
E. L.
Amazing food and views, fantastic staff. Always a good visit whenever we go.
K. P.
The Gun prepared a vegan course for one other person and me. The food was really good.
The selection of wine is nice but a little on the pricey side. Beer is reasonably priced and a decent collection.
There are a couple of cozy rooms with fire places.
The service was pretty good too.
P. D.
Friendly bar staff. Cosy inside but enjoyed the 'beer garden' sitting on lounger chairs looking at the o2 across the Thames with a decent beer and great pork scratchings! Didn't have a go at the table tennis but nice to see a decent table there too
N. N.
Very nice place beside river and food also good!
K. D.
Great atmosphere, food, service
H. L.
Nice gem of a pub. Location is great and the live fireplace sets the mood.
C. C.
Loved this pub and would not hesitate to go back . Friendly staff and a good interior and exterior seating area
M. S.
I've only eaten Scotch Egg there but it was great. It was my first one I've ever tried and it couldn't be better. Kind stuff that helped to choose the beer that perfectly matched, very interesting interior and detached terrace at the river Bank with the view on O2 arena.
A. S.
Best roast in London by a country mile! Potatoes were crispy, root veg were superb, meat was high quality, service was fast. The price is very reasonable for London. Also the beer garden looked lovely for a Sunday afternoon beer.
R. J.
An infectiously warm atmosphere, a delightfully rich selection of starters, mains, and desserts that are perfect for any locals looking to show friends from overseas the merits of "English cuisine". Wines and other drinks of a superb variety as well, dessert Ports included. 5/5.
R. G.
Awesome food, awesome service, awesome views. Awesome!
Roasts were exceptional. The starters were all amazing (and the ones we didn't have looked amazing). The desserts were great and as was the booze.
Second time here and I will definitely be back!
Try and get a table on the terrace for an amazing river view.
G. G.
Fantastic ambience, friendly staff. Outdoor seating has superb views of the river and O2
R. B.
Was recently here with a large group of friends and I wanted to leave a review for a particular member of staff. I believe his name was peter (young man with ginger hair). He was amazing to us all we were all being very picky about everything and he was extremely polite and patient. Thank you so much for your service. Will definitely be coming back here with my family. Also the food is delicious here.
A. H.
Wow. I'm so impressed with this place. The food was delicious and so well presented. I had rib eye steak and peppers. The waitresses were attentive and quick to ensure we were happy. I think I understand why The Gun has such a good name. It is well deserved. I wonder what impact the bridge near Wood Wharf (opening a more direct route to it) will have on how busy it is. But for now it is a must go to place if you live/work near Canary Wharf.
M. W. D.
Oh my God what A wonderful pub. Beautiful setting, friendly cheerful staff. The food was delicious. I cannot fault the place. Thank you for making our trip to London feel so special. I wish I could sit outside looking at the Thames with A pint everyday.
J. C.
Food is quite delicious and nice water view in summer time. Vegan food could be arranged if book in advance. A bit disappointed as they couldn’t serve apple pie with custard. Price is on the higher end. Otherwise, it’s a good place to be.
D. T.
Beautiful historic pub with brilliant view and great menu. Service was very nice and we enjoyed our time there. We sat outside on the patio which can be closed in bad weather.
R. K.
I have been frequenting the gun for many years with friends, family, even on my own it’s an outstanding bar/restaurant the food is amazing I am so pleased it’s in my neighbourhood, the staff are so very helpful and accommodating, I am
Looking forward to it being re-opened very soon x
N. B.
Great pub, isle of dogs, food looked good
F. B.
A very good selection of fullers beers. Very nice views from the garden and non smoking balcony. Cannot speak about the food as I arrived too late. A bit out of the way which probably is what makes it so good.
C. K.
We booked for last Saturday and were very happy to have a table on the terrace. Wine and service were excellent, but the food was a disappointment. Scallop starter came with two small scallops. Three people in our party ordered the rack of lamb which was fatty, tough and undercooked, not pink as ordered. My chicken breast was just okay.. The Chilled Chocolate Fondant was superb! Maybe the kitchen was having an off night, as this neighbourhood restaurant has been good in the past.
J. N.
Best pub food ever in London. Unique combination of food with starters and mains. Decent wine selection. Water view is stunning, if you get a chance to sit by the water on a nice spring day, it is worth the price.
R. G.
I been there soo many times, with family and friends. The only thing I dislike about the place is how busy they get, which means the place is popular. Food is good quality and price is reasonable. Generally 4 people will cost just under £40, so working out at £10 per head. Location is good not too far from Whitchapel station. I generally drive there on the weekend and after 5.30 its free parking
C. B.
I have been to the gun for both a few drinks in the evening and lunch and both were superb. For lunch we had an amazing view of the O2 arena and river in a delightfully naval themed room. The food was excellent (both lunch and canapes in the evening) and the service was excellent for drinks. A bit pricier than the average pub, but worth every penny. If you go for lunch during the week them will also offer you a free car service to and from the restaurant.
G. H.
A great hidden gem this pub. Staff were incredibly friendly when I turned up with 9 pals. Place was packed but we were asked if wanted seats and showed us to the fantastic outside undercover seating area overlooking the river. Superb. We will be back.
J. H.
Very cute little local with great views of the Thames. Good quality food, and a good selection of wines. It's a bit on the pricey side. Can be very busy at peak times.
J. A.
Lovely place with a tasty and delicious Sunday roast. Generous extra portions of sauces. Really worth. The service was really good as well, friendly staff in a lovely environment. Stunning view of the o2 arena just crossing the river.
Only one point about our bill, we ordered a Pinot noir that they didn't have, the waitress offered straight away another brand from the menu but didn't mention the double price. Wasn't a problem at all, just surprised us when we got the bill. No doubts I'll be back and super recommend.
C. N.
Been here already few times and I can say in overall that the place is fantastic. Decoration is really nice and I like how there are combined few things in one place. There's an outside part for the summer, inside part divided into a restaurant and bar parts. Its perfect to gather here with friends or family and have a nice dinner or just hangout on the bar with a drink. Prices are a bit more than the average, but that understandable. Service is nice, staff are polite and welcoming.
T. L. B.
Pub has a spectacular view along the river which would be great for warm weather. Very good food for a pub too, great choice and quality.
D. P.
Staff were impeccable and the food was amazingly delightful! These two elements should have made it a 5 star experience along with the stunning riverside seating area.
Unfortunately, The only drawback of the evening was the manager’s terrible up selling skills. Brought out double the sides I had ordered and then asked if it was okay to charge me for it... (the South African chap with the beard and glasses)
Apart from that it was a great expierence!
R.
Fantastic hidden pub in East London. Food is incredibly good (we had the set menu) and you get a lovely view from the terrace. Make sure you book if want food though
A. S.
Very nice place. Good food. Nice atmosphere.
D. R.
Cracking Sunday roast with a view of the Thames and O2 in the background. £62 for two roasts and 3 pints. I’ll go back.
T. S.
All good
D. B.
First post-lockdown2 meal - and so glad we chose The Gun.
We were lucky enough to be seated on the terrace with the lovely riverside …
D. K.
The roast was average, potatoes was rock hard and chicken was dry.
M. M.
Slightly on the expensive side but the food was delucious
R. G.
What a hidden gem. COVID had made this a wonderful private dining experience. Open fires, great staff and the Sunday roasts are delicious. Perfect 👌
S. G.
One of the best pubs in the docklands area. Great terrace/conservatory area on the river. Pretty good choice for food too.
K. M.
Great food and drinks. Good service. Outdoor seating is abit crowded (very small gaps between tables), but makes up with great views of the river!
D. K.
The roast was average, potatoes was rock hard and chicken was dry.
M. R.
We booked the River room for dinner after our registrar wedding ceremony and it was like a dream to us; Splendid room, outstanding view, delicious food and very attentive staff. We were very happy with the management as well. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.
D. T.
Amazing pub with open fires, good selection of beer and wines. The food in the restaurant is absolutely amazing, and the sommelier will you help getting the best wine. Finally the best part is the view of the River and the O2 Arena.
T. B.
Lovely pub and amazing team
T. O.
Love this pub, great service and views of the river. Good food and beer. Only downside is it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.
D. F.
We booked a table outside, but later went inside, great little pub, good atmosphere 👍🏻
I. S.
It's certainly one of the best pubs I've been to in London.
Excellent selection of drinks and food, with friendly staff and the most magnificent view of the river Thames and the O2 Arena. The beer garden is quite spacious with wooden tables and chairs, and it also offers a couple of ping-pong tables.
I loved this place :)
J.
Favourite pub near Canary Wharf, lovely view on the Thames and great food!
B. H.
Great food, local craft beers and good cocktails combined with friendly service. Great for a night with friends, be it for drinks or good, but also to bring your book and read in front of the open fireplace in one of their cosy armchairs. Only downside are the prices, but hey - quality costs money!
M. N.
Fine dining restaurant with great selection of meat and fish ! Would strongly recommend for a romantic dinner or dinner with friends appreciating good quality food. In addition, outdoor seating area is literally on the water having an effect of being on a boat ! Great place
D. L.
Mostly a very good experience - nice views, friendly service and reasonable food. Personally wasn't a big fan of the sea bream (which was served with far too much pickled cucumber), and only other downside is that it was very noisy in the conservatory area.
S. S.
Historic old pub, real ales and a garden terrace on the water's edge, difficult to find fault. It also makes a great change from all the "cutting edge" offerings nearby. If you fancy a traditional pub with good food and great views, you will not go far wrong at the Gun.
R. G.
What a hidden gem. COVID had made this a wonderful private dining experience. Open fires, great staff and the Sunday roasts are delicious. Perfect 👌
A. H.
Love this place, all the furniture and decoration is consistent and I live the military theme.
Always a polite member of staff at the bar and the manager is always around directing the staff - seems like he really cares about his pub. Great stuff
S. R.
Really good Sunday lunch with a substantial portion of meat which can often be lacking at other restaurants. Only downside was the cold cauliflower cheese side.
The wine list was a little too long and we would have wished there was more expertise when the bottle we ordered was out of stock for staff to suggest an alternative.
Service was ok - nothing special.
Ambience had a great buzz but it did get a bit loud at times which made it hard to have a conversation but there was a group there at the time.
Overall, it was a great gastropub with great food.
D. K.
Great view on the river! Terrible service, mediocre food and expensive!!! We only had to ask 6 times for the menu, 5 times to order, 8 times to get some water 3 times to get a steak knife to replace the butter knives that were offered for the beef roast and all that while the waiters were more than the guests!!
c. c.
Lovely venue that's had a recent lick of paint. The £40 set menu was ok. The burrata came very cold much to the detriment of is taste, the pork was really nice and well cooked, would have liked more of it. The plumbs and orange is one to avoid. Food on its own is a 3 the rest of the venue brings it to a 4.
g. f.
Good food and drinks.Friendly staff.
A. G.
Lovely pub on the riverside with amazing views of the river
M. S.
Only had drinks here, but this pub is great little riverside pub is great. It is a little off the beaten track with not much else around it, but the views of the Thames make the trip worthwhile. Really advise visiting here.
J. E.
Great place outside along the river for a pint.
H. H.
Cool pub on the river away from the bustle of Canary Wharf. Tasty Sunday lunches and decent selection of beers. River views if you can bag a table but gets busy!
J. a. g. o. d. b. f.
As per great reviews, the team live up to it. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and yet professional.
Food was lovely and tasty. Sunday roast Portions were very good too!
Will I bring my friends here? A definitely YES!
D. E.
One of my favourite pubs in London. Still surprisingly a bit of a hidden secret it would seem. You can often find a seat here in the evening. The food is fantastic, there is a good beer selection and the atmosphere/location makes it very special.
K. V. M.
Our team was out there and it was fantastic to be there with that view of O2 plus the river and most importantly their waitresses were too good! Good food and drinks and a must visit if you are in London.
K. P. (.
I've been here a few times for the quiz and came back last night for their last-ever quiz. The drinks are ok, the prices are a bit more expensive than most places and the food is quite nice. However, the table service is a bit hit or miss; it's brilliant when they're at the table, taking your order, but try to get a server's attention and it's a nightmare! Otherwise, it's a cosy pub with a good atmosphere. Perfect for a couple drinks with friends if you're in the area.
K. C.
The food was good, but not excellent as the price suggested. The atmosphere was great though, the beer garden is a non smoking-area with a great view over the river. There was a beer selection, not extensive but a good step above most.
S. P.
Food and service absolutely excellent. Biggest yorkshire pudding I've ever eaten and the belly pork was perfect with on point crackling. The only down side was finding it, if using DLR I'd recommend getting off at Coldharbour
Y. A.
Having lived locally for seven years I know it well and I think The Gun really is a great pub. The staff are friendly and it's a beautiful building in a great riverside location. Food wise I'd give it 5 out of 5 every time. 😀
Fantastic to see their own brewery, Long Arm, on draught there now. They do need a decent lager though, which they had with Unfiltered Camden Hells until recently🤔. Now the options are Heineken or Amstel 😣.
J. A.
The area around the back is excellent and cosy-ish during the winter if you can nab a seat near one of the log fire places. It's an old pub and some of its story is told by pictures on the walls. During the summer the two outside areas backing on to the river does a nice job. Generally have a decent selection of beer with ales/craft on rotation. Can get a little busy Thur/Fri/Sat and could be closed for private functions on the weekend, check before hand. Not had the food in a while so this rating is for drinking only right now.
P. R.
Great selection of beers with a beautiful vista of the Thames
S. G.
Great old pub with fantastic views over the river and the O2.
Service was very good with great frendly staff but the food quality could have a been a bit better.
Will definatly go back
S. G.
Lovely place right on the river. Food is delicious. Great place to eat or have a quiet drink. The terrace on the side although nice could do with little spruce up.
H. S.
The food and our waiter was the redeeming feature.
We decided to try this place for a date night, promises of river views and cosy pub atmosphere. Booked a week in advance.
Hard to get to, as building works have cut off the usual route and you have to walk all around the docks - no mention of this on their website.
Had to talk to two members of staff until someone could tell me where to go for my reservation
There was a function on that night so very crowed
The seats were like deck chairs and had no back to them
Sat outside with heaters and blankets. Mice under the floor boards
Incense was lit next to our table and it stank - no one asked before hand if it was ok. Subjected to the smell for the rest of the meal.
The food however was perfect. Really delicious. And our waiter was super friendly and nice. It saved a night that otherwise was going pretty badly for the Gun. I might go back. Not sure. Food is worth it. Everything else is questionable.
D. L.
The venue is lovely full of character and history. Tables overlooking the river. Staff really helpful.
Food a little disappointing...
D. L.
Friendly local pub, appealing range of drinks, offers a tempting variety of foods. The great views are a bonus!
C. L.
Great pub with lovely back yard view on the Thames and O2 on the other side.
S. S.
Had a Sunday roast that was not up to scratch and service was hit and miss. Beautiful terrace, garden and pub, have given four stars as the venue is so incredible. Hopefully the ala carte will make up for the Sunday menu.
G. E. L.
Lovely views of the O2 and the river. Good food too
T. S.
Excellent food. Had the pheasant and rabbit starter and Scottish version main and several side dishes. Everything was packed with flavour. Sat on the covered terrace by the Thames with the wall heaters on and no one else around. Everyone else must have been feeling wimpy preferring to sit inside by the log fires.
a. v.
Great pub, with great food, a really friendly atmosphere and the best staff you will find anywhere in London, if not the world. The location is great as it's down a side street and right on the river, so if we have a sunny day it's a great place to sit and relax without too many people.
N. B.
Great view, great Restaurant. Ask to see the private dining room the view is incredible, they'll also show you the secret stairway they used to smuggle alcohol back in le jour
I. C.
Great pub that's mainly a very good restaurant. The views of the Thames are great. It's not cheap but feels good value.
It's historic, well run and is a great escape from Canary Wharf.
S. T.
A cosy setting on the River Thames. Food is tasty, expect to get what you pay for. A good selection of wines, they also knock up cocktails. Nice fireplace too!
L. M.
Sunday lunch here is always fantastic. The best I've had in London. Just remember to loosen your belt because the portions are generous!
N. R.
I've yet to find a better gastropub.
Beautiful old building with chesterfield sofas/armchairs by a real log fire.
Overlooking the Thames & Millenium Dome.
Great food and drinks (craft beers, wines).
A little pricey, but worth it.
A. F.
Food was lovely. Beautiful views in the Riverside terrace. Manager was incredibly helpful and attentive. Will definitely be going back again
R. M.
Great food, great service and fantastic view.
J. B.
Big an of this pub. Food is good. Really nice riverside seating. Ambience inside is great with all the old guns in the wall... but it’s just so far from transport now.
E. S.
Beautiful little pub/ restaurant, tucked away a 10 minute walk from Blackwall station. Fantastic service and delicious food. I ordered the monk fish which was accompanied by a generous bowl of shellfish mariniere - absolutely delicious and couldn't be faulted!
R. M.
This is a quiet little gem, while it is a tiny bit expensive for my tastes, I enjoyed evything on offer. The pints (including an offering from the award winning Curios brewing co) were all good as was my snack/starter of whitebait.
there is a great view of the Dome, and the River, and i can see this being a lovely place to kill time on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
R. R.
Amazing views across North Greenwhich. The food was very nice. The tartare starter wasn't breathtaking but the chateaubriand was excellent. It's a lot if meat, and perfectly cooked. The terrasse with the gin bar and the ping pong table is great space to enjoy a dtink al fresco
D. P.
This place is probably the worst kept secret of anyone working at Canary Wharf, take a stroll towards the sea and you'll end up here. A pub with an amazing view, taxidermy on the walls, a big fire, a long bar and a restaurant.
I have been here a few times as my friend used to live round the corner, the prices are a bit aimed at the workers of Canary Wharf so can be a tad expensive.
In the Summer they usually do big jugs of Pimms which is as you'd expect is very tasty and then you can sit on the terrace and look out on the river view.
The food I have eaten has always been off the pub menu but you can go from one extreme, a sausage roll with HP sauce for £6. (Not a typo). To one of the best tasting burgers I've had in a pub.
The burger is the "The Gun Burger" which is made up of beef shin, cheddar cheese, coleslaw and some big hand cut chips, I recommend this burger if you want a feast and then have a nice drink sitting in the comfy chairs with a fire and taxidermy.
If you like cheese, they have a cheese selection that changes monthly, if you are trying to eat on a budget they offer a £10 set menu at lunch which is very reasonable.
J. W.
I love this place. Proper pub, great beer, better food. Now opened up so you can walk easily from canary wharf.
R. N.
It's historically located conveniently by the tidal river Thames and a lock. It has been refurbished and given a brewer's makeover - but jealously keeping its history - and its connection with Maritime Greenwich and the nation's most famous and cherished admiral.
It is an apt venue for a romantic date; or to share the ambience with cherished friends and familiy.
G. C.
Unfortunately I had to do the fastest eat and run I have ever had to do, but I ordered, paid and ate in record time. It is sad that that had to be the case as I really liked the look and feel of this classic style pub. Their Gin Garden has a fabulous view overlooking the Thames. I had their Sunday Roast, their beef, and it was marvelous, thr best I have had in London thus far. The beef was tender and juicy, full of flavor, served up with all the classic trimmings, the Yorkshire Pudding was fluffy and tasted great with the au jus gravy, they provided extra on the side, it did not go to waste. Also very much liked the horseradish cream sauce. There was I think a nod to the classic British dish Bubble and Squeak but done as a scalloped potato dish, at least that's how I interpreted the piece of baked potato slices with cauliflower. I must go back next time I am there. I little out of the way, but I think that adds to it's charm. Out of the way is relative, the DLR is about a 10 minute walk and there are buses that run nearby. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable no
M. B.
Great people. After a long day of sightseeing we were lost. They called is a taxi and we had time for a drink.
Food smelled incredible. Will have to go back and eat.
C. M.
Amazing food, great views, fantastic staff. Great for group meals and love their pragmatic cab service from the wharf. Great touches all across.
S. W.
Lovely pub. Perfect setting great views of the Thames
D. W.
Really good location right on the Thames. Good service, nice ambience but food a little expensive. Truly fantastic selection of beers and a great wine list.
L. h.
Amazing views and really friendly helpful staff. Just came for a drink but they do serve food as well. There's an outdoor deck to sit right on the river
C. R.
So far only three... Tricky to get there, and when you're finally there, it's like you hardly get a place to sit down (slightly after lunchtime sat or sun, cant remember)... I mean do we live in the world when walking into pubs is outdated? Booking in pubs always? Seriously? After a good walk you get by getting there, being a bit after lunch to arrive, you're HUNGRY, and guess what? Kitchen is closed, and will reopen only for dinner!!! So annoying and frustrating! What is this management concept at all? It's a pub! Not some Spanish siesta tapas place.... People drink and want foooood! One star for views, another for beers, and another one for potential - I might give it one more chance and then edit my review...

The patio view was nice, the food was underseasoned and uninspired. I went at an off time (~4 on a Saturday) so it's a bit on me, but I feel it needs a bit of oomph, if I'm honest. I had the cod, which was wrapped in pancetta and served with a side of broccolini and rice. The pancetta was limp and would have been enhanced by a hard sear. The side was saved by some vibrant basil sprigs but could have been so much more. Salt and pepper helped the whole experience go more smoothly

Historic pub, one of the best roast dinners I've had ever and amazing warren like rooms all with their own unique charm and surprises. A real trek to get to if transport is playing ball, but totally worth the effort
N. T.
A great local pub, hidden of the beaten track, but only 15 minutes on the DLR from Excel. Great ales, lager and beers go very well with great food. Go out back and you can look over the river and into the city.
A. M.
On the whole it's nice. Very cosy and the food on the whole is great.
On the downside the prices are on the high side and the desserts are just tiny. The cake my friend ordered while delicious was possibly the smallest piece of cake we've both seen in a restaurant...
S. N.
Hmm prices are quite hefty it I am honest, a little bit of out my league, however, I genuinely felt welcomed as I came in, awesome views of the 02 Areana and the river in the evening as well as great staff!
B.
Great pub, great food, staff super attentive
J. A.
Must be one of the best riverside dining experiences in London. Spectacular view, delicious food, very cosy setting, and courteous staff. Highly recommended.
E. T.
Lovely view and atmosphere
S. B.
A good pub that has survived the Canary Wharf development.
H. K. (. ).
Lovely pub had fish and chips that was quite generous.
J. M.
My local and my favourite place to have a quick drink after work. The staff are lovely and the place is really cosy. Really good food too.
A. A.
The Sunday roast is up there amongst the best. One star down for waiting a while for the food to get come out. Nice atmosphere and recommended for groups of friends / family.
L. C.
Great restaurant. Lovely food. Nice beer. Delightful terrace overlooking the Thames and the O2. Off the beaten track but worth the effort.
S. I.
The location is beautiful, stunning view of the river Thames and the O2, within an easy reach from the station. Friendly and helpful staff, absolutely delicious food.
J. W.
Really nice food - massive portions but well cooked. The views were also amazing 100% suggest eating by the river instead of the bar.
G.
Great pub but it gets very busy. The did menu is great and they have events such as craft beer festival etc which make the visit quite unique.
T. P.
Absolutely great staff, food was quality vs quantive, so v good, well priced and really refreshing cold Beers (hard to find on London)
W.
Decent pub. Prob a go to spot in the area. Good views on the river. U have to book the outside part of it gonna have an event there.
J. P.
Great food. Brilliant views. Cosy and warm atmosphere. Excellent staff. Would highly recommended a visit, you will not be disappointed.
R. T.
Good selection of drinks and food, both on their pub menu and on the restaurant menu as well. The staff is usually friendly and the place offers an interesting view right on the Thames, plus a fireplace for the cold months.
I. G.
We found this pub in a list of the best Sunday Roast. We did not expect a good place but we were really pleased.
Pub views are amazing, staff very friendly and the Sunday roast (pork) delicious. We where 5 frirnds having same dish andwe found Iit ddelicious.
Best Sunday roast in London so far!
E. B.
Fantastic night had a really good time drinks and the staff were amazing. The location was amazing and it's great.
S. A.
Always a fave. Don't eat often but good for drinks next to river and when the fire is on on a cold day, you're set. About 15 mins walk now from Canary Wharf round Blackwall Basin/Poplar Dock
S. M.
Such a lovely atmosphere all years round. It's so cosy at the moments while the weather is still unpredictable. The food is great and would recommend the Gun Burger if you are up for a challenge!
N. B.
Excellent attitude to customer service .Food excellent.
J. B.
A hidden gem - just walking distance from the high rise towers and modernity of Canary Wharf.
The Gun is an authentic historic riverside Inn dating back at least a couple of hundred years which is located directly on the North bank of the River Thames. At the rear there is a terrace from which it is possible to sit at a table and watch the river traffic passing by and gaze across at the huge modern structure of the O2 Arena which is located in North Greenwich (to the SOuth of the river).
A fine selection of ales, wines and spirits are on offer, together with a full yet reasonably priced menu.
The rooms to the rear of the pub house an interesting collection of antique firearms - in keeping with the 'Gun' theme.
M. M.
Slightly on the expensive side but the food was delucious
B. C.
A great pub with fantastic views or over the Thames
V. P.
Either enjoy the lovely food and excellent service in the restaurant area, have some wine next to the fireplace or a cold beer in the terrace, this place is always welcoming and worth the visit. Prices- gourmet pub range.
J. D. (.
Fabulous New Years Eve at the Gun, highly recommend. x
D. B.
Fantastic venue for 70th birthday bash. Gorgeous room overlooking the river, great food. All in all contributed to a fantastic day
M. D.
Nice pub. Right on the edge of canary wharf proper and priced accordingly. The beers are good and the food was decent too. Food was over priced tho. Just go to Greenwich instead.
A. K.
Hidden gem in East London with amazing view of the Thames and O2. During the winter you can sit next to the fireplace and drink mulled wine to warm up your body. The place is a bit on the expensive side but worth a try!
P. C.
Great interiors with all the antique guns on the wall. The food is good but nothing can beat the location as it is right on the Thames. Great place for a summer drink!

The Best Sunday Roast and Gin Garden
Excellent service
Amazing staff
Z. R.
Food was very nice and well presented. You could tell from the menu where everything was sourced from. The staff were very friendly. Initially couldn't find parking but staff advised of a car park nearby.
I. G.
The place is an old pub. The beer is really good with a bit of choice of real ale.
The riverside terrace is great when sunny.
A great place to spend an afternoon with beers and friends
A. S.
Very nice place. Good food. Nice atmosphere.
J. P.
We went to The Gun in Docklands to eagerly watch the 25 finalists, chefs from various well known restaurants, competing for the best slider spot in The Slider Decider competition.
During the heats, The Gun team ensured we were feed and watered with beers and ales available, and cheeseburger and pulled pork sliders.
It was fun watching the chefs battle it out in the kitchen during the first heat.
However, it got packed in the marquee very quickly. One downside of being further back in the marquee was that we could not see everything that was going on during the heats.
We will be returning when the warmer summer weather arrives, as they have a fab riverside location & we will want to check out the new gin garden.
A. K.
Went here for a bday party. Nice view.
A. P.
Great pub, food, service and location. Not the cheapest place to drink draft beer but that’s the only minor downside.
S. V.
Cosy and atmospheric with great friendly staff. A stereotypical British pub atmosphere and everybody is friendly. Good selection of beers, wines and great food. Fantastic views of the O2 across the Thames with conservatory seating with a view.
N. D.
Nice setting and lovely staff, but I didn't really love the food. It was kind of bland and at least to me, not worth the high prices charged. (I had the sweetbreads and half lobster this time)
J. A.
Fantastic, cosy venue.
Excellent selection of beers, wines and gins, an open fire in winter and an excellent restaurant serving a high quality take on British classics.

Although i am fond of this Gastropub, i was put out of by being asked to leave to terrace for dining guests. I wouldn't have minded if it was busy, but it was half empty!
D. W.
Visited a while back for Christmas lunch. Food was lovely and lovely surroundings.
S. M.
Good steak and oyster place. Very expensive, but targeted at business meetings. Very rich history and ask the waiters for stories about Admiral Nelson
A. C.
I love this pub. Cosy inside, lovely terrace on the outside overlooking the river, and great food!
B. v. H.
Great restaurant. Nice location. Amazing food! The staff is also very nice 10/10 would recommend to friends and family
M. F.
Not easy to find, but a great view of the Thames. A pint of prawns was just perfect and the beers are varied. Can get busy.
T. D.
Great food, ham, egg and chips highly recommended. Staff really friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend for a pint and meal.
C. S.
Always love coming here. Best pub in London.
a. b.
Had a nice steak my wife had the fish she said it was nice but could have been a bit hotter the staff were helpful but the pub itself is in need of a refurbishment which we were told is happening next month.
P. F.
Thank you so much for making us feel welcome after travelling from Coventry for Sarah and Tom's wedding reception recently and after a 4 hour drive you made us tea and coffee which was very welcome. We enjoyed a brilliant evening to celebrate our daughters wedding to Tom and due to your efforts it was a tremendous success and we had a fabulous time and the day was made special by all of your hard working staff who couldn't do enough for us. Thank you again. Peter and Carole Fielding
J. C.
We visited The Gun expecting a nice dinner, but the location atmosphere and quality of our meal exceeded our expectations. A really great pub, and one which I'll definitely return to.
R.
Really nice place, good kitchen, great beer selection. Have fireplace and terrace with view over Thames. Daily pia was delicious.
Y. G.
Lovely old school pub on the river, panoramic covered terrace, solid pub fare with white linen (although a bit steep: £17.50 for Sunday roast). Recommended
D. M.
Been to the Gun several times and other ETM Group bars. Fine establishments alas this Saturday's visit was "I feel" marred by charge of £14.50 for two pints and two small (very small) bottles of pepsi.
Needless to say we left after one drink.
Great shame ETM the squeezing of customers will have a negative effect on trade.
C. R.
A refined and reliable gastropub overlooking the Thames and the O2. Very pleasant to while away a couple of hours.
E. G. L.
Sunday roast was a bit rough on the finish. Hard to get table without reservation. Otherwise nice spot, good views..,..
B. W.
Fantastic, historic pub right on the river. Great gastro- restaurant side as well as more cosy pub area by the water (still with very good food! )
a. W.
Great Sunday lunch & good service.
M. A.
Went to this restaurant with my family and can honestly say one of the best food experiences I have had for a long time. The quality of the meat was great and the service was very friendly.
D. P.
Nice pub with a couple of traditional English-style private rooms. View over the river. Been there a couple of times and will definitely go back!
V. W.
Tasty cocktails and good whiskey

I had my 60th birthday suprise on Sunday 13th October - my son and daughter hired the River Room - the afternoon was absolutely fantastic - the waitress and staff were first class and were very attentive - even with my 92 year old Mother they were extremely patient and caring - the food was first class and beautiful - there was nothing that could have been any better - fantastic chef and service
Thank you so much - the room, the service and venue was simply perfect
Regards
Laraine Tarrant - 5 Stars ***** all day long

Nice cozy place. After the renovation they have an amazing gin garden on the river bank. Watched plenty of football games there this summer.
C. E.
Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and delicious food. Wish we had the time to visit a second time during our trip.
J. T.
Fortunate to be invited to a meal here post the BETT Show. Full of charm and great views over the Thames to the O2 arena. Service and meal were excellent.
J. L.
Best place to drink in Canary wharf. Lovely old local pub tucked away in a residential area. Food is very good as well.
L. P.
Lovely old English pub in the middle of some lovely cute houses. Surprisingly nice for the location and slightly more expensive for selective gin and tonics but over all really nice
J. D. S.
Amazing! Great service, food and amazing view!
S. T.
Great view, cool ciders. Very helpful staff
D. P.
Nice pub lovely grub friendly polite staff
P. F.
Excellent food & drink, lovely open fires in the winter, good view of the O2 across the Thames. Staff friendly & efficient; not cheap.
D. B.
Christmas roast was so good I went back again a few days later! Great atmosphere, perfect for a quiet dinner or drinks.
J. C.
Best Sunday roast beef in London
K. S.
Beer with a view.
P. Y.
Hi, the advertised closing time on Sunday is midnight. However, when my friend and I went around 10:40 PM we were told the bar would be closing at 11 PM rather than midnight.
Y. P.
Nice location and amazing views of the O2 Arena! it has real fireplaces and it's super cozy! the food is really good although a bit pricy
K. R.
Great neighbourhood bar. Cool interior and an open fireplace adds to the experience. Was expecting a more extensive selection of whiskey however.
A. L.
Great pub friendly and helpful bar staff. They have some amazing and unique cocktails. I would personally recommend the G&T
S. N.
Great place for Sunday Roast
B. W.
Great selection of beers, very friendly staff. Lovely sitting by the fire or outside looking over the Thames and the dome.
J. O.
Friendly service, excellent food & right on the river.
M. B.
Fantastic food and great service!
J. B.
Excellent service this lunch time. The waiters were so attentive especially with 2 toddlers. Food was wonderful very creative menu.
P. D.
One of my favourite pubs with great food and great views. Sadly let down on this occasion by the quality of its real ale.
M. M.
The outdoor space is nice. Except that it is as good as any other pub if you are looking for a pint and food is ok but nothing amazing
A. W.
Even tho the tables were empty they put in a particular table awaiting others to arrive. Poor planning
S.
The gn is already a decent pub with an unpretentious atmosphere but after just having dinner with the wife we're very impressed, this pub deserves a new chef like this.
T. S.
All good
H. G.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. In a really nice location on the Themes, a lovely spot to sit and have a glass of wine on the terrace.
J. R.
Unique cozy place off the beaten but in my opinion more of a restaurant than a pub. It's quite popular at weekends so best to book.
P. T.
Great pub on the banks of the river.
Good food, attentive staff and excellent decor. Recommended.
P. S.
Quality restaurant in this historic riverside dockers pub. Splendid food, A1 service and cosy little rooms with open fires. What's not to love about that!?
A. P.
Delicious and generously portioned Sunday Roast! The stuffing was especially wonderful. Look forward to coming back again.
S. C.
Thank you for the lovely tasting menu for new year's eve! Great location, service and atmosphere! Great job👍
E. D.
One of the coolest pubs I've visited in my lifetime. Great service and a fantastic location!
